Who gets to be a knower—and what happens when others refuse to listen? In this episode of thinking bodies, Anna Mudde and Kristin Rodier explore Kristie Dotson’s “Tracking Epistemic Violence, Tracking Practices of Silencing” (2011).
With Catherine Clune-Taylor and Jorge Sanchez Perez, we ask, what does it mean to harm someone by failing to recognize them as a knower? And what responsibilities do we have as listeners, students, philosophers, and audiences? Being a good audience is hard work, but necessary in climates of oppression and silencing.
Special thanks to Nathalie Dusek (editing and sound design), and Jacob Bamhour.
