In this episode, Sam and Will explore the story of David and Goliath and uncover its deeper meaning pointing to Jesus. They talk about the Valley of Elah where David picked up smooth stones from the riverbed to face a giant covered in scale armor. You'll learn how deadly a sling actually was in the ancient world, with studies showing it had nearly the stopping power of a .44 Magnum. But, the real point of this story goes far beyond an underdog victory. Goliath, dressed like a serpent and blaspheming God, is defeated when the shepherd boy from Bethlehem crushes his head, echoing the very first gospel promise given in Scripture. This story reveals how David points to Jesus, the ultimate champion who defeated sin and death and won a bride and an inheritance for all who trust in him. If you're new to the Bible, this is a powerful example of how the whole story connects from beginning to end. Like, comment, and subscribe for more.
