They turned Halloween into a night of cruelty, fire, and deadly dares. Then a demon decided to play along. Now every lie costs a soul, and refusing a dare could mean an eternity in hell. They wanted a game without limits, and now they'll get one.

Trick or treat. There's a chill in the air. Must be fall. Join me for a tale of Halloween. You will experience tales of horror, ghosts, and death. It is not recommended for the weak at heart, but who really listens to warnings anyway? This is Weekly Spooky. Hello, my spookies.

It's Wednesday, and more importantly, the first Wednesday in October. So it's time for a little spooky in your weekly. I'm your host and narrator Enrique Couto, and before we get to tonight's festivities, we have a very special treat just for you. It's a little treat from our friend Nathaniel Perry over at The Poem Cast. Make sure to check out his show if you get a chance on your favorite podcast app. This is a perfect snack to get you in your Halloween mindset. So I'll be back in a moment, but Nathaniel, take it away.

Before the bat, there was a snake, and we are older than that. We are the first of all the drinkers. We were drinking when your fathers were at sea. You have a word for what came after us. You say it in the dark. You say it thus. Vampire. And you shiver and you smile. And you go to sleep. We let you for a while. The vampire was an accident of lust. A snake, a woman, and a bed of dust Five thousand summers back beside a stream The child that came was neither It could dream, and it could drink And it could pass for you We watched it walk into the world It grew, it bred, it wore the human face And every drop it took, it took for us The pale count in the castle Ours.

The race of pretty biters in your films. A crust. A shell. A molt we left along the road. So you would look at it. And while you looked, both we fed. Hush. Not from the throat. That's a child's design. A wound. A scream. A chase, a splash of wine. We are not children. We are patient. We sit on boards of every charity. The blood bank on the corner. Ours.

The cross that's red on white. You gave it. It's no loss to you. You rolled your sleeve and it felt so good. And ate a cookie as a giver should. The doctor's office with its little vial. Hours. The hospital. Hours. The drive. The mile of people lined up on Saturday to give. To give. To give. And think it goes away It goes to us It always went to us We do not need to bite. We do not need to fuss. We need a needle and a nurse, and you will bring it to us. And this is how this species gets absorbed. Not with a war. Not with a flood. Not with the sword. A little at a time.

A pint, a drop, a century. We don't stop. Your blood is in our blood. That's what the crossbreed was. We open doors inside the body. Now we're walking through. Look at your children. Look, there's some of you and some of us in every second child. The scales are just asleep, the eyes are mild for now, but there will be a morning when the mild eyes learn to see in the slits, and every second child will shed its softness like a shirt. And rise from bed already tall, already cold, already ours. Both snake men and women, a race of us. The hours are counted. Every pint in the count. We are not coming. We are the amount.

We drank the boy who dreamed us. We drank all of Rome. We drank the empires. We are drinking home. And you, you sat and listened and gave your ear. Your evening, that's a kind of vain. Roll up your sleeve. You're going to anyway. We are already in you. Have a lovely day.

But now, as for tonight, we're heading back to Strickfield, which I know you've all been waiting for. There's always somebody who takes Halloween a little too far. No, not the neighbor with 12 skeletons on the lawn. I like that neighbor. I mean the people who look at a night of costumes and candy and decide the rules don't apply to them. A smashed pumpkin A broken window, a dare nobody should accept. For Priscilla Mirren and her friends, making other people afraid is the whole point. As long as everyone else is screaming, they're having a wonderful time.

But Strickfield has a few things wandering its streets that don't need masks. And tonight one of them has come looking for an old acquaintance. So gather close, my spookies, let the jack-o'-lantern burn, and think very carefully before you promise to do absolutely anything. Because somebody new wants to play, and she takes the rules very seriously. Hardcore Halloween by Rob Fields Halloween Night The van pulled into the driveway of a brightly decorated house, complete with animatronics. Priscilla Mirren and her friends got out and seemed to admire the display.' What do you think, people?' Priscilla asked before taking a pull from her beer can. Wish I had decorated like this at my place, Chad Farnes muttered. Me too, buddy,

Carl Zeller added. The Mason twins, Joanie and Tony, wore wicked expressions. Let's really make a hardcore Halloween bonfire here, Tony gushed. Priscilla looked at Rift Think we can make that happen? Riff gave a demented smile. Yeah, easily. Priscilla downed the rest of her beer, belched loudly, then threw the can away. Then let's have some more hardcore Halloween fun.

Whooping and hollering, they pulled weapons and alcoholic beverages out of Riff's van. The gang started trashing the decorations and displays. At one point, the twins posed for a selfie with a jack-o'-lantern head of a damaged animatronic held between them. The front porch and driveway lights came on. The door opened to reveal a young woman, about their age. She appeared to be dressed for bed. Priscilla's mouth opened with mock surprise. Why is that Regina Edwards, I see? Regina headed a sorority that had clashed with Priscilla and her gang in the past. She was visibly upset. Get off my property, Priscilla! Regina yelled. Oh, I'm so sorry, Priscilla mocked.

Were these your decorations? Regina pointed at them. That's it. I'm calling the police. Regina slammed and locked the door. She had her smartphone ready and was about to call Strickfield PD when the door burst open and the front window shattered. Priscilla and her gang rushed in and seized her Priscilla Mirren stood in front of Regina. You know what, people?

Let's play a real game befitting hardcore Halloween. She narrowed her eyes at Regina. Let's play truth or dare. You say truth, you tell the truth. Period. Don't want to tell the truth? Well, automatic dare. And with dares, you will do them. No matter what. You don't, well, you die horribly. The others agreed. Regina refused to give Priscilla any satisfaction. Priscilla glared at her. Really? You're a high-ranking member of your sorority, and you don't want to play?

I thought you were made of sterner stuff. Riff Jacoby pointed at Priscilla. Probably cause she knows what a cutthroat you are. He drew his finger across his own throat, making a slicing sound. Priscilla laughed a little. Because I ain't afraid of shit. Without hesitation, Priscilla grabbed Chad's bottle of liquor and drank what was left. She threw the empty bottle at a wall, shattering it. She had been drinking heavily, but She was still the devil on two legs.

No matter how much she had, she seemed to remain in control. We celebrate Hardcore Halloween, Priscilla told Regina. Why do we call it Hardcore Halloween, you ask? Well, because it's the best time to do very bad things, including killing people. We already had fun pulling the gang high beam initiation on a couple of families earlier tonight. Riff snickered. Yeah, after we made those cars crash, you should have heard them screaming when they were burning alive inside. Hell, we cooked hot dogs on one of them. The gang gathered in a circle in the living room, forced Regina to sit with them, and started up the game. I'll go first.

Chad Farnes said sheepishly. He pointed to Priscilla. Truth or dare? Dare, she immediately declared. Chad didn't hesitate. I dare you to chug this entire bottle. He handed her a bottle of red liquor. Priscilla snatched the bottle and chugged it as the others watched in amazement. That's firewater. Chad jeered. When Priscilla finished the bottle, she threw it back at Chad.

It hit his chest, and he barely caught it. Woo! Priscilla cried in triumph. Now it's my turn. She pointed at Regina. Okay, bitch. Truth or dare? When Regina refused to play, Priscilla grabbed her hand and broke her pinky finger. You got four more on this hand. Sure you don't want to play? Okay, I'll play, I'll play. Regina gasped through the pain. Truth. Priscilla was ready. I'm thinking you're not wearing panties. Am I right? Regina grew angrier and refused to answer. Priscilla grinned.

No?

Automatic dare then. Now you have to show us. Regina tried to get away, but Priscilla grabbed her hand and broke another finger. Fuck! Regina screamed. Priscilla smiled wickedly. Stop trying to run away. Just lower your pajama bottoms and show everybody here that I'm right. Regina still refused to cooperate.

Despite the pain, Priscilla stood with ease. It was a wonder she could walk, let alone remain so coherent after all the alcohol she had drunk. Lift her up, she ordered. As the others pulled Regina to her feet and held her, Priscilla grabbed two more bottles of liquor. She removed the caps and held them up.

Okay.

Okay. Since you're such an uptight square, maybe these'll loosen you up. You bitch, Regina yelled as Priscilla emptied the bottles all over her. Priscilla followed with the remaining liquor and beer, emptying it all over Regina until she was thoroughly soaked. You ready to drop your pants now? Priscilla asked in an evil tone. Regina spat the liquor that had collected in her mouth at Priscilla. She produced a book of matches. Imagine if I threw one of these at you. As the others cheered Priscilla on, Regina fought and broke loose. The Mason twins tackled her before she could escape and dragged her back. Priscilla opened the matchbook, struck one, and lit the book itself. Since you won't do your dare, Priscilla purred. Go to hell! Regina screamed.

Priscilla shook her head. Nah. You see, I met the devil a long time ago. Interesting conversation we had. See, there ain't no touching me. What I'm going to do to you, I could do right in front of the cops. She raised her finger. And I'll get away with it, again and again. So, you see, you're the one taking a one-way trip to hell, not me. She threw the burning matchbook without empathy or hesitation. Regina burst into flames, screaming.

She grabbed hold of Priscilla for a long moment and They both burned alive before falling to the floor. Flames spread throughout the living room until the fire burned bright. Regina Edwards' burning body never moved again. But Priscilla's eyes flew open. She sat up, making the others scream. Hardcore Halloween, fuckers!

She cheered loudly. As Priscilla stood, the flames on her body extinguished. Her body restored itself until she was whole again. That was fucked up, Tony Bishop said. Her twin sister Joanie was amazed. Cool! Let's continue our game in another spot, Priscilla said. as the flames spread to other parts of the house. But we ain't got no more beer and booze, Riff complained. You're absolutely right. I'll go get it. She grabbed her purse. I'll meet you guys... at that spot we talked about. They left the burning house. Priscilla went one way. The others headed for their secret spot. Lost Chad Farnes had become separated from the group when he stayed behind to watch Regina Edwards' house burn like a roaring bonfire. He was still pretty drunk from all their partying.

A text from Priscilla Mirren asked what was taking him so long. Finally, he remembered he needed to get to Molenhof Hall at Strickfield University. He started stumbling in that direction, When he saw her, and tripped over his own feet, he sat up, looking for the hottest woman he believed he had ever seen, but she was nowhere to be found.

Had he imagined her? Suddenly the woman stood before him in a sexy devil costume that left almost nothing to the imagination. Her long, flowing hair was dark. Her eyes sparkled like two hot coals. She even had metallic wings. She lowered herself and lifted him effortlessly with one hand. Truth or dare, Chad Farnes, she asked in a fittingly devilish voice. What? he gasped. Truth or dare, she repeated.

If you do not choose, then I shall choose for you. When he still didn't answer, she snatched him close.

No?

Very well. I shall choose a dare for you. And I dare you to show me how hot you really are. But, but, he sputtered. Oh, the dare is easy enough, the demonic woman purred. Chad's eyes went wide as she hurled him toward the burning house. He crashed through a wall and landed on the floor, engulfed in flames. He screamed as he burned alive. Soon, he stopped moving. Forever. The demonic woman pointed to the burning house. And now, your soul is mine. Energy streamed from the house into the demonic woman's hand, gathering into an orb. She addressed Chad's soul. Happy...

hardcore Halloween, is it? She looked at the remains. First you, then the others, then you, Priscilla Mirren. As the upper floor began to collapse, she took her newly won soul and strolled off to meet her intended prey. Molenhoff Hall Priscilla Mirren groaned and took another drink from her bottle of hard liquor. before looking over her shoulder at the Mason twins. I can't believe that fucking idiot got separated from you people. That's Chad for you, Tony assured her.

She looked at Joanie. You're getting harder and harder to find these days yourself. I know you're fucking somebody. Jealous? Joanie snapped. She turned to Priscilla. It ain't our fault that stupid Chad got lost. I'm sure he'll be here any minute now, Riff said. Priscilla was annoyed. Maybe one of you should, I don't know, call him? Fuck, do I have to think of everything? The others hurriedly pulled out their phones. Priscilla rolled her eyes as they all tried calling Chad. It keeps ringing, then it goes to voicemail, Tony muttered. Priscilla groaned. Never mind. We'll continue hardcore Halloween without him. Come on, let's get inside. They were about to break in through one of the basement-level windows when

the main door of Molenhoff Hall slowly swung open in front of them. Its creak sounded like something from an old haunted house record. Carl, is that you? Riff asked cautiously. Did you get ahead of us to fool us? Joanie added. When no answer came, Priscilla held out her arms and shook her head. Forget it. We'll go somewhere else to continue hardcore Halloween. The wind picked up, blowing hard enough to knock them onto their knees or backs. They scrambled and crawled until they were all safely inside Molenhoff Hall.

As they got to their feet, the open door slammed shut. Priscilla sprang to the doors and tried to force one open. Then the other. Not even the knobs would turn. What the fuck is this? The hall lights came on all at once. Instead of their usual white, they glowed an eerie red. Greetings, Priscilla Mirren, a demonic voice called out.

The gang turned to see the beautiful goddess with metallic wings, glowing red eyes, and long, flowing dark hair. She wore a metallic bra containing her large breasts. and a matching bottom. Hellweaver, Priscilla choked out. Very perceptive, mortal. She walked toward them. At our first meeting, I knew just by looking at you that you would be easy to make an arrangement with, and foolish enough to try to escape fulfilling your end of our bargain. she produced a glowing ball. I have already claimed your friend Chad Farnes this night. Now you and your friends shall continue your game of truth or dare.

But you shall play by my rules. Survive the game and you may yet return to the mortal realm with only this experience to haunt you. until your last days here. However, should you fail, the others didn't need Hellweaver to finish her thought. And now, she waved her hand, and they were all in one of the basement classrooms. The goddess stood behind the teacher's desk at the front. What's this about?

Joanie stammered. Why are you after us? What did we do? Not you, Hellweaver pointed at Priscilla. You. I believe this Halloween is as good as any to reveal the arrangement you made with me and why it may yet cost the rest of you, your souls. The others looked at Priscilla. What did you do? Carl demanded. Priscilla laughed scornfully. Me? Me? Why, I simply made a deal with Hellweaver here, she pointed to the goddess, one that even you can't undo. Hellweaver smiled. Oh, I could easily undo that which I have given you.

Do you honestly believe that you alone have asked to become an immortal, never to age or die? While it is true that I always grant your wish faithfully, you have chosen not to fulfill your end of our arrangement. You were to render unto me twelve souls, each and every year. As the others stared in disbelief, Hellweaver chuckled.

Oh yes, Priscilla Mirren first summoned me during the Civil War, here in your country. In fact, she was the very first mortal to find one of my Bibles and summon me. But after 23 years, Priscilla decided to break our arrangement. The only reason? reason I have allowed her to continue her existence is that her attempts to escape me have proven most entertaining. But now I grow weary of this chase.

Your day of reckoning is at hand, Priscilla. Hellweaver eyed the group. We shall all play truth or dare until everyone has had at least one round. Here are my rules. If anyone chooses truth and lies, you forfeit your life and your soul is mine immediately. You cannot switch to a dare as you would in your game. If you choose dare, and fail, you shall become a lost soul, forever wandering the deepest, darkest reaches of perdition. And here is the best part. Absolutely anything goes. Hellweaver glared at Priscilla.

Since I shall not remove your immortality, I have a far worse punishment in mind for you. But why should we have to do this? Joanie groaned. Priscilla made the deal with you. Guilt by association, the goddess answered simply. Now, shall we play? She pointed to Joanie. I shall call upon you to start our game. Remember, answer truthfully and fulfill your dares. and you might just leave here with both your lives and souls intact. Joanie didn't want to play, but she was too scared of Hellweaver to refuse. Um, Carl, truth or dare, Carl shot her a mean look. Fuck you, Joanie, you dumb bitch! Fine, truth. When we were sleeping together back in high school, Were you also sleeping with Tony?

she demanded. Carl looked betrayed. What the hell, Joanie? Answer the question, Hellweaver ordered him. No! Carl snapped. Hellweaver pointed at him. I warned you about breaking the rules, Carl Zeller. You have lied in your truth. She stepped aside from the dry erase board and waved her hand. Observe that which Carl Zeller has lied about. The whiteboard became a giant screen, showing scenes from their past. Carl sleeping with each twin behind the other's back. When the scenes ended, the board turned white again. Carl, you goddamn bastard! Tony yelled.

Now I know why you were always late for our dates or canceling. She pointed to Joanie. I fucking hate you. Joanie clenched her fists and turned on her clone. Yeah? Well, I've always hated you. You know how much it sucks having to share everything with you, including boyfriends? Enough! Hellweaver ordered.

She pointed to Carl. Your soul is forfeit to me. Carl burst into flames. He screamed and ran mindlessly as the others scrambled out of his way. He finally stopped and collapsed. The energy of his soul gathered into a glowing globe, just like the one before him. It floated to the goddess's waiting hand. She placed Carl's soul next to Chad's, on the teacher's desk. Now that you have seen what happens when you break the rules, be mindful not to follow that fool's example. You are still in control, Joanie Bishop. Joanie pointed straight at her twin sister. Okay, cunt.

Truth or dare? Tony growled and clenched her fists. Fine. Dare. Joanie looked at Hellweaver. You said you're playing too, right? Indeed, the goddess confirmed. Joanie gave her twin sister an evil glare. I dare you to kiss Hellweaver. Tony gasped and backed up against a wall. No, she'll kill me. As long as you follow the rules, no harm shall befall you, so long as harm is not used. In a dare, Hellweaver told her. Priscilla rolled her eyes. Just go kiss her already, Tony. I want to see this. Tony walked slowly toward Hellweaver, who opened her arms to receive her.

She trembled as Hellweaver enfolded her, then began crying as she looked up into the goddess's face. I don't want to die, she choked. Complete your dare and you shall continue to live, Hellweaver promised. Oh shit, Tony groaned, then pressed her lips against Hellweaver's. For a long moment, the mortal and the goddess shared a tender kiss. Eventually, Hellweaver released Tony. Return to your friends. Tony slowly backed away until she was safely among the others. It is your turn, Tony Bishop, Hellweaver reminded her. Tony turned on her sister.

Your turn, truth or dare? Truth, Joanie said at once. Did you kill our stepfather? Tony fired back, her voice full of hate. Joanie hesitated before saying, You really don't want me answering this question, dear sister. You may think you know the whole truth and are using it to save your own ass, but since I have to tell the truth, it's going to hurt you way more than me.

The truth, Joanie Mason, Hellweaver ordered her, or you shall be next in my growing collection of souls this night. Joanie raised a hand toward Hellweaver without facing her. No, I'll tell the truth. I'm just warning my sister here. She looked back at Tony. Yes, I absolutely did kill that piece of shit. Want to know why? Because he was fucking around on Mom. With you, Tony gasped. You, you can't possibly, oh, I know, Joanie snapped. It was a few years ago. I was out shopping with Mom, and we got in a pinch at Strickfield Town Center Mall.

Remember that pet store that used to be there? Mom was going to get you that little puppy dog you wanted for our 19th birthday. When she went to pay, her wallet wasn't in her purse. We couldn't scrape together enough money between us Then Mom remembered where she'd left her wallet. She said she'd stay in the store and ask me to go home and get it. I came home and went slowly upstairs toward Mom and Stepdad's room.

Then I heard some rather interesting sounds. I had to be real quiet creeping up to the room. If it weren't for the fact that you're my sister, I think I might have found what I saw pretty hot. but you were in a rather compromising position with Greg. How long were you fucking our former stepdad, huh? You can't deny it either, because I recorded what I saw on my phone. I didn't say anything because I wanted to kill Greg myself. A few weeks later, I pretended to be you and waited for him. Yeah, he got to see us both naked. She raised her finger. but me cutting off his useless cheating pee-pee was the last thing he ever saw before he bled to death. I got cleaned up and left the house. Mom came home and

found the poor dead bastard in her bed, practically swimming in his own blood. I never told you either because I wanted to blackmail you someday. All I'd have to do was show the video to Mom or... anybody else you got close to. Joanie turned to Hellweaver. Satisfied? You speak the truth, Hellweaver agreed. You get the next turn, Tony.

Tony shot a hateful glare at her sister. Truth or dare, she roared. Truth, Joanie shot back. No fucking way I'm taking a dare from you. Tony looked at Hellweaver. Can I ask somebody else? You may. She consented. Tony looked at Riff. Truth or dare? Riff sneered. Dare. Definitely dare. Tony smiled from ear to ear. I dare you to kill Joanie. Priscilla laughed. Yes, now this is hardcore Halloween.

Riff didn't hear Priscilla. He stared at Tony. You kidding me? Tony yelled. You heard me, asshole. Now do it! Riff looked at Hellweaver. Is that even allowed? Hellweaver replied. Absolutely. You heard the rules, dumbass. Priscilla emphasized. And for full transparency, anything is legal when Hellweaver's involved. Riff pointed at her and yelled. Transparency? You wouldn't know a goddamn thing about that.

You were trying to escape from her. Now we all gotta pay for that? That's bullshit, Priscilla, and you know it. She mimed playing a violin. Oh, boo-hoo, you knew I couldn't be trusted when you joined up with me. She lowered her hands. Now you better do your dare. I've earned Hellweaver's patience, but have you? Riff shook with anger. Fine, fuck you all. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a pistol. Without further hesitation, he turned and shot Tony, right between the eyes. Her face registered a startled look as blood trickled from the bullet hole and down her face. She sank to her knees and fell onto her side. Without warning, Riff did the same to Priscilla.

She gave a slight gasp as she fell off her stool and landed hard on the back of her head. Blood trickled from the wound and and pulled beneath her head. Tony's dead body and Riff began to glow. Soon Hellweaver had two more souls for her collection, bringing the total to four. Now it was just Joanie Mason. What the fuck was that? She asked Hellweaver. Riff did his dare.

Why did you kill him? Riff Jacoby's dare was... was to kill only your sister, not to also kill Priscilla Mirren, she answered. Now he shall wander forever in the darkest regions of perdition as a lost soul. Except the fucker didn't kill me, Priscilla said. Joanie gasped and turned to see Priscilla rising to her feet. The blood returned to her body. and her wounds rapidly healed. I'm an immortal, you dumb bitch, Priscilla chided her. She looked at Hellweaver.

And you still keep your word. Either you're very stupid or else you got standards. We shall see who is stupid, the goddess replied confidently. Do you truly believe that you are the first to try cheating me? You are not. nor shall you be the last. Her gaze included Joanie. I believe it is down to the three of us now.

Since Riff Jacoby cannot take his turn, it shall fall to either me or you, Priscilla Mirren. Neither of us has had a round yet. Joanie Mason shall choose which of us is next. Joanie pointed to Hellweaver without hesitation. I choose you. It's your turn. Hellweaver smiled. As you wish. The Final Rounds Hellweaver looked directly at Priscilla. It shall be a most interesting game from here. For centuries I have allowed you to escape, paying what you owe because you have entertained me, but... That chase ends this night, Priscilla Mirren. I offer you this one opportunity to reconsider and willingly return to our arrangement. Priscilla sprang off her stool and pointed at her. I got this far. I'm playing this game to the very end, no matter what.

I ain't wimping out on hardcore Halloween. Never have, never will. And no, I ain't serving you. I don't care what kind of offer you make me. The answer's the same. Fuck you. Then we shall continue until only I am left as the victor. Truth or dare, Priscilla Mirren? Dare, Priscilla growled. I always choose dare. As I knew you would. Fool, Hellweaver chuckled. I shall dare you to honor your obligation to me. No more running away. No more evading me.

Not that you ever could. The way I see it, you owe me a great many souls, and since you have stated that you always play your hardcore Halloween games to their end, Priscilla pointed at Hellweaver. That's not fair. You can't just bring our pact into a game like that. Oh, but I can. Did I not state that anything goes in my version of truth or dare? All these years you have been living as an immortal. All these years you have been so clever in how you thought you were evading me. And yet- You have never truly learned that when you play a game with me, I am the sole victor. She pointed to Priscilla. And now I have you in a bind, do I not? If you do not fulfill your dare, then you... What will you do?

Priscilla challenged. You can't kill me not without going back on your word. Yeah, you're an evil demon goddess, but you always keep your word, even when people like me spit on promises. You can't kill me. You can't take my soul. You can't even age me. You promised me you'd make me a true immortal, so what will you do if I don't follow through on my dare, huh?

Hellweaver laughed scornfully. You do not listen. I have already told you that you are not the first to break an arrangement with me. You shall pay what is owed, one way or another. Once more, either honor my dare to you, or you shall pay the price. She gestured to her collection of four souls. I do not need to turn you into one of these. There are other methods at my disposal. You may have evaded punishment throughout your time in the mortal realm, but remember, it was only because I allowed you to do so. Joanie felt helpless in this struggle between goddess and condemned. Even so, she was keenly interested in how the game would play out.

Hellweaver raised her finger. Here is something to ponder. Priscilla Mirren. I can bring you home to perdition. My daughter, Sin, would most enjoy keeping you. Sin just loves feasting upon human flesh. Imagine how many times she could satisfy her appetite with you. Since you are immortal, you would regenerate your flesh again and again. I assure you that sin would never grow tired of dining upon you. You're lucky I'm offering you mercy this day. My daughter would never show you the slightest consideration, and in that, my dear, I would still be honoring my end of our arrangement.

I do not have to remove your immortality, nor do I desire to do so. I believe a demonstration is in order. Hellweaver flew at Priscilla and attacked. Joanie gasped as the goddess viciously clawed at her. drawing blood everywhere. When a large splash of Priscilla's sanguine fluid struck Joanie, she screamed. Priscilla screamed as she never had before when Hellweaver tore both arms from their sockets and threw them away.

She howled one blood-curdling scream after another as the goddess tore her apart. Soon her dismembered body lay scattered, Across the room, limbs and internal organs everywhere. Hellweaver had even peeled the flesh from her bones. By the time Hellweaver finished, Joanie was soaked in blood from head to toe. She stared at the Dark Mother in utter horror. You're a...

a monster! Then she let out a blood-curdling scream. of her own. But then, something began to happen. The remains of Priscilla Mirren began to move, drawing together. Even the blood that had saturated Joanie lifted from her body and returned to its source. The goddess and the mortal watched as Priscilla's body came back together, gradually reforming, until she was completely restored. Priscilla knelt before Hellweaver in fright. Okay, stop!

I give up! She looked up at the demoness. I'll honor our bargain. It'll take me a while to get you all the souls I owe you, but I'll pay up. I can't go through that kind of pain again and again. Hellweaver caressed the side of her face. I knew you would finally see things my way. Now you understand that being a true immortal does not come without its caveats.

She put her finger in Priscilla's face. And know that if you should decide to renege on our agreement again... There shall be no grace for you. You shall suffer pain and torment at my daughter's hands for the rest of eternity, which is all you have. Priscilla nodded quickly. Never again, my dark mother, I swear. She took Hellweaver's hand and kissed the back of it. Excellent. And now that you have been punished for not completing your dare, Since you are still very much alive, the last round falls upon you. I stated that the game would end when each of us has taken at least one round.

Take your turn to end the game. Oh, I will, Priscilla assured her. She turned to Joanie. You're the only mortal left. Let's see if you survive this last round and leave here alive. So, truth or dare? Joanie shook her head. I don't want to play anymore. Priscilla laughed a little. Uh-uh-uh. You heard my Hellweaver. The game doesn't end until everybody gets at least one round. It's finally my turn and I'm asking you. Truth or dare? She is correct, Hellweaver agreed. What shall your final response be, Joanie Mason? Truth or dare? Joanie shook her head again and raised her hands in front of her. I ain't taking no dare, so I'll tell the truth. Priscilla laughed in triumph. You really should have taken the dare. The

game could have ended for you a lot sooner. Since you chose truth, she sighed. Okay, Joanie, can you keep what happened here today a secret? Joanie nodded quickly. Yeah, I'll keep everything that happened here tonight a secret. I ain't gonna tell no one. I'll take what happened here to my grave. I swear. Priscilla turned to the goddess. Hellweaver?

As we are still playing truth or dare, Joanie Mason, you remain bound to its rules and to your word. Even when our game concludes, you must never speak of it. To do so would mean that you did not speak the truth as you were required to do. Should you break your word and tell so much as an inanimate object— I shall return for you and claim your soul.

So long as you honor your word and never speak of this game in any way, you shall continue to live until the day your last breath leaves your mortal form. In other words, you're totally fucked for the rest of your life since you have to carry this secret. Priscilla held up her smartphone. In fact, Hellweaver and Joanie watched as Priscilla dialed. Strickfield Police Department, I want to report a multiple murder here at Strickfield University. A brief pause. Yes, in the basement level of the Molenhoff Hall. Another pause. Yes, I saw Joanie Mason kill everybody down here. It was so horrible. A final pause. Okay, I'll be here waiting.

She hung up. Priscilla saw the anger on Joanie's face. Aw, too bad. With the police looking for you now, they're bound to ask you all kinds of questions when they catch you. Remember, you can't say shit about what happened here. Happy hardcore Halloween, bitch. Joanie shook her head and pointed a trembling finger at Priscilla. If it's the last thing I do, I'm going to get you. You just wait and see if I don't. Priscilla put her hand to her ear. Are those sirens I hear? The game is now concluded. We shall all go our separate ways. Hellweaver pointed to Priscilla. Remember, no further chances. Yes, my Hellweaver.

Priscilla agreed quickly. Hellweaver disappeared. At the same time, Priscilla escaped through a nearby window and ran off. Joanie couldn't jump high enough to grab the ledge of that same window. As the sirens drew closer, she groaned and ran upstairs to the first floor. By the time Joanie reached the main doors, the sirens were almost upon Mollenhoff Hall. She threw open a door. and ran straight into the headlights of a Strickfield PD patrol car. A second car's headlights lit her up. She tried to run, but officers tackled her, read her her rights, and placed her under arrest. I can only imagine what you're going to say when you're being grilled back at the station, one of the men told her. Unfortunately, Joanie could say nothing about what had happened.

Her refusal to speak of that truth-or-dare game with Hellweaver, along with the bodies found in the basement classroom, ultimately got her sentenced to the Glenview Correctional Facility outside of North Ridgeway. Joanie Mason remains there to this Halloween day.
