All right, we're doing it, a brand new episode, and Halloweek continues. Of course, we're doing all things Halloween, and we've got a real haunting.
It's from an ex-boyfriend.
I mean, those are the.
Worst type, right? Oh, they're the best.
I never know.
That's a good point, Alexis.
That's coming up here in a brand new Awkward Tuesday phone call, but first, we'd love to start with your comments. What are people saying online?
Yes.
Greek mythology stan said... Wait, you guys read Spotify comments? Yes. I've been listening to you guys nonstop for like two months now, but I haven't commented because I thought you ignored Spotify.
Oh.
Like maybe they thought just YouTube or something, but no, no, no.
Here you are.
Yeah.
Not being ignored.
We're creeping on all the comments.
That's right. Don't you worry. We see everything and we love it.
Keep commenting.
Thank you so much for being here. Hit subscribe and your brand new Awkward Tuesday starts right now.
Look, we're all human. Everyone reaches a low point in their life. But what on earth could possibly make you ever want to contact an ex?
Oh, God.
Especially one from six years ago that didn't end well.
Somebody's closure.
Things get dark, Jeff.
Yeah.
Like maybe if your grandma accidentally joined OnlyFans and your ex is the one person who remembers her login.
Then I could see it.
I see.
Well, today's situation might be even more messed up than that. You're going to hear the most awkward conversation between two people who really, really don't like each other anymore in a special Halloween edition of your Awkward Tuesday phone call.
Next.
It's awkward.
It's Tuesday.
It's Awkward Tuesday phone call.
It is the season for hauntings. Not just by ghosts and demons and Brooke's previous dentist looking to get her in for another cheap cleaning.
Uh-oh.
Oh, how dare they? I can't find a new one. No one will take me. It's terrifying.
No, apparently there's another type of haunting that one of our listeners is experiencing.
What is it?
Where something from her past... has come back to haunt her.
Ooh, that's the worst kind.
And she wants our help with it on Halloween week. Her name is Amy. So, Amy, welcome to the show.
Hey, thanks for having.
Me, I guess. Oh, you guess.
Yeah.
I guess it's a bad situation then when you say it that way.
Yeah. Listen, it's this completely weird situation that's going on in my personal life. And I don't know how to handle this.
Well, you've come to the right place, Amy, because that's exactly what we do on the Awkward Tuesday phone call.
You don't even need to pitch us on it. Yeah, we're here for it.
We're here to give you advice, but first we need to hear what this haunted situation is.
Before you say anything, we're not haunting experts, guys.
Like, we do.
Brooks, stop making sounds.
I'm trying to warn you.
I can buy sage. That felt pretty expert to me. I feel like this is a serious thing. Never mind.
Brooke brought in a goat to sacrifice just for this occasion.
So here we go. Go ahead, Amy. Tell us what's going on.
Well, me and my ex-boyfriend, we dated for about six years and we did break up before COVID actually. And I want to make it clear that we have had zero communication since we broke up.
Oh, dang. Oh no, I'm so sorry.
It sounds like, I mean, usually if you have zero communication, it was probably some sort of bad or messy breakup.
Is that true or?
I mean, without getting into the specifics, it was really just one of those things where I was just seeing writing on the wall. I was not happy with the situation. And, you know, I was like, I'm not going to waste another six years on this guy.
Okay.
Writing on the wall as in like blood written on the wall? Oh, see?
No, thankfully not that hardcore.
It's not that serious. All right.
So you moved on and it's been a long time.
Yeah.
What's your ex's name?
Max.
Max.
Max.
Okay.
So in your email, it says he's haunting you now all of a sudden from your past.
I think it's called stalking when you're alive. And I hope that's not the case.
Well, we don't know what's going on, so tell us what the situation is with you and your ex.
So recently, one of my friends reached out to me and she actually asked me, like, if me and Max were back together. And of course, I'm like, no, why the heck would you even think that?
That would be such a wild text to receive. Like you haven't talked to this guy in years. And all of a sudden, a friend pops that question up out.
Of the blue.
Why?
Where does that come from?
Well, my friend told me that she saw a photo of us from Halloween and he had posted it.
What?
Did he have like an outfit that made him look hot?
Like it was like the one Halloween where he looked good and that was why? You're going to make her admit that her ex looks hot?
Well, I mean, men don't typically rock Halloween costumes very well. So when they find the one year that it actually worked for them, they'll probably repost the photo.
Okay.
I don't think it was one of those things, at least from my perspective, because she told me that it's not the only time he's done something like that.
What?
Okay, is he trying to get your attention?
He's a sad boy always scrolling through old pics and accidentally posts them.
Or he did it on purpose, knowing someone's going to get a hold of you, which they did, right?
This could be his strategy to get her attention.
I mean, what do you think the motive would be?
That was what I was trying to figure out. So I unblocked him and I saw that he's been doing it every year on Halloween.
Just on Halloween?
Posting old Halloween photos of the two of you together?
Yeah, that's not even the weirdest part. Like I went back and saw that he's been doing this for three years and I am like pretty sure he's in a relationship with someone else.
What? No. What? He's not single?
How did that get worse? Oh, my God. What does his girlfriend think of this?
Would that offend you, Brooke, if your husband Michael started posting photos of one of his ex-girlfriends on there?
Oh, yeah. It would?
Okay.
For sure.
I just want to make sure it crosses the line. I mean, we could marry in a long time, and I'm still not being chill.
So three years you said that he's done this every single Halloween?
Yeah, so I reached out to him, obviously, because I'm like, why the heck are you posting photos of us together? And he won't respond to me. Yeah, you think?
I mean, ex-girlfriend's coming in hot.
Of course he's not going to respond to that.
But obviously he didn't want you to text him that.
Like, he's not looking to get your attention.
Yeah, that's what I was going to say.
Or maybe he likes that now he's stringing you along and has you, like, wondering what's going on.
He's literally trolling her.
He doesn't have the right to do that.
He's making people think that they're together.
That is so weird.
Really weird.
Especially when he's in a relationship.
I know. It's so creepy. But, like, what do I say to him? I don't even know.
I don't feel like I know what's happening at all. I don't know the strategy.
How good were you at bossing him around when you guys were in a relationship together?
Not very great at bossing him around, honestly.
We're working from a dark place, huh?
Brooks, that's your problem.
That's right, Jose.
Okay, so this is basically a two-pronged thing that we're dealing with here. First, you want to find out why he's posting these old Halloween photos of you two. And then two, you need to get him to stop doing it because it's making everybody in your friend group feel like you two are back together again. It's getting everybody's hopes up.
And that's not good.
I know you're joking, but nobody wants us back together. Trust me on that one.
You are one of those fun couples.
Your friends saw this pic and they have a group chat going on the side now.
Bonnie and Clyde are back together. Uh-oh.
So let's think of some good advice to give you before we come back and we let you dial your ex-boyfriend, Max, to find out why he's been haunting you with these old Halloween photos of you two together every single year.
Oh, man.
I felt like he needed a sound effect.
Did she start it with sound effects and end it with sound effects?
Yes.
We'll come back and do it right after this.
Hold on. It's awkward.
It's Tuesday.
It's Awkward Tuesday Phone Call.
We're in the middle of your Awkward Tuesday Phone Call Halloween edition.
At this point.
It would almost be better if our listener Amy was being haunted by some evil demonic spirit.
Yeah. Easier.
It's worse. It's her ex-boyfriend, Max.
Oh, no!
Who's been posting old photos on his social media of the two of them together from back in the day, dressed in costume.
And what gets me is there's no caption on any of these pictures.
That is weird.
That is so.
If it was.
Like hashtag throwback Halloween, it would.
At least tell people it's a throwback. An emoji. Thank God I'm not with this demon anymore. That's what I'm talking about.
He's been reposting these every Halloween for the past few years, even though he has a new girlfriend.
I forgot that. Amy doesn't know why he'd be doing this. Reached out to him.
Getting no answer, and that's why she's come to us, because she needs some kind of explanation, because now her friends have been asking if.
The two of them are back together.
Yes.
Which, ew.
Ew.
So, Brooke, please, give her some advice.
God, we don't have a lot.
Of leverage here, Amy.
It's a real issue, okay?
Uh-huh. Because he doesn't owe you anything.
Yeah. And the girlfriend probably knows.
That these are on social media, so we can't even use that against him.
She has to know.
But I do have a plan, okay? Because you attract more flies with honey. We're going to be sweet to him. You're going to bring up, what is.
It, bees?
You attract more flies with honey.
What's the saying?
I don't know.
Are you trying to attract the ex-boyfriend?
The only way he's going to open up is if you flatter him.
Okay.
If you tell him like.
Oh, I remember this great Halloween memory. And you know, share something that makes him feel like, oh, yeah, she still likes me. Because men are suckers for that.
Yeah, we are. Are you comfortable buttering up your ex?
Yeah, you know what? Let's just do it. I'm willing to do whatever at this point, honestly.
All right.
Okay.
That's the type of positivity I like. I like whatever as a plan, so let's do it. We just got to get him to talk. Exactly.
Really?
I'm going to dial Max's number, and then we'll step away and let.
You make your awkward Tuesday phone call. Here we go.
Hello?
Hey, Max, it's Amy.
Amy? It's kind of weird that you're calling me out of the blue. What's this about?
Well, you know, I've been trying to get in touch with you lately. You know, I was thinking about you and, you know, I really just wanted to catch up and see what's going on in your life.
Amy, listen, just for the record, I'm not interested in getting back together with you, okay?
We're done.
Well, Max, I wasn't trying to get back together or anything. I just wanted to check in with you and see what's going on in your life.
I'm fine. This is really awkward. I don't know.
Well, you know, here's the thing.
You obviously want something from me, so just spit it out. I mean, you haven't talked to me in years. You're just trying to catch up with me? What the hell?
You know, brass tacks, then. One of my friends reached out to me, and she actually asked me if you and I were back together, because... She saw that you've been posting photos of us from our past Halloween together. And honestly, I'm curious as to why the heck you're doing that.
Why are you stalking my Instagram anyways?
I'm not stalking. I'm simply just like getting back in.
Touch with you because I think it's a little weird. It's weird that you're looking at my stuff. Just like mind your own business.
Excuse me, this is my business. If you're posting photos of us from like years ago on your social media when we're no longer together, it absolutely is my business because you're embarrassing me in front of my family and friends.
What? Why are your family and friends following me?
Oh my God, it's social media, you dipshit. Everybody follows everybody and they see everything you post.
Yeah. No, this is why, this is why we broke up, Amy. I mean, I don't know.
I don't care about the reasons we broke up. I really just want to know why the heck you're continuing to do this. Cause honestly, it's giving that you're a little desperate to get back to me. So why don't you just open up and tell me what the heck is going on? Cause I'm kind of over this.
Look, I don't want to get back together with you. Okay. And honestly, it's kind of, It's kind of making my life better to post them. That's all that you really need to know. So don't worry about it.
That's all I need to know. You're literally indirectly involving me in this. So I think I deserve an explanation. And frankly, I'm not leaving until I get one.
You're not leaving? Well, I mean, I could just hang up on you, but. I know you'd probably like call me back. I'll be a jerk all your life, Max.
Just get it over with. Stop being a little bitch already. I deserve an explanation. So you know what? If you really think I'm creeping on your Instagram, I will get my girlies to find out who your new girlfriend is and directly speak to her. Because I guarantee you, she doesn't know you're doing this. Or if she knows you're doing this, then there's a lot more going on with her than you. Oh, so what is it? Are you going to tell me what's going on or do I need to reach out to her directly? Cause I'm fine with either option.
Honestly, my girlfriend knows and I'm posting them. She obviously knows she follows me. I mean, she actually likes it. So don't worry about it.
You are so creepy and she's even more creepy. What's going on?
It's just, it's weird.
Okay.
No, it's weird that you're doing this. So spill it. I'm freaking over it. And even though she knows you're doing this, I will expose both of you. I'm over it. So get going here. What's up?
Well, okay. She thinks you're dead.
What? What? What the hell are you talking about?
She thinks she's dead.
What? Who are all these people? Oh! What's going on?
Dude, what is this? What a nightmare, apparently.
Max.
I mean, she thinks you're dead. Hold on. Let's use your advice. Hey, Max. What's up, buddy?
Heard you've been working out.
We heard you're a really cool guy, and we're a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
What?
Yeah, we've been thinking about you lately.
Why would you tell your new girlfriend that your ex-girlfriend is dead when she's not?
I told her that she died one Halloween.
But why? Why would you say that? It worked. What do you mean it worked? Like you were getting pity points?
You guys are going to get me in so much trouble. Is this on the radio now? I'm going to get in trouble for this.
No, it's not. Don't worry about it. We're just a radio show. Yeah, it's just online. Dude, what do you think?
That you're going to be able to cover up that your ex-girlfriend isn't dead until the end of time?
That's not going to work, my man.
You're so good at finding exes on social media. It's like our number one skill.
Because we hear what you're doing, Max, but you're not explaining why.
Why you've told your girlfriend this.
Okay.
Okay. So she saw a picture of me and Amy and she got like really jealous because the picture looked good. And I told her not to worry about it because She was dead, so there was nothing to be jealous about.
You solved the jealousy issues by just killing off your ex-girlfriend.
Oh, my gosh. Actually, I do see the logic, I guess.
Yeah, and it actually, and it worked. It was Halloween, and it just made it all, like, just work for the spirit of the season, I guess.
I'm assuming he did something bad to get broken up with.
Yeah.
Because it sounds like a great story. It's messy, for sure. Amy, how are you feeling hearing all this?
I'm... in shock both of you guys are so creepy yeah again i want to see be a man and tell her the truth.
It is shocking to find out that you've been dead for years that is that's a very uh.
She could be haunting me yeah i don't know why my bit my relationship any of your business amy because you.
Killed her i mean not really it's my business because you're indirectly including me in it so one last time tell your girlfriend what's up And you know what? If she really thinks I'm dead, she's going to get a real Halloween surprise.
That's a big scare.
Are you a zombie now?
Is that what it technically is when you come?
No, wait.
It's just a ghost.
I don't know what you could be.
I mean, Max, can you at least just take them down and maybe delete all the previous ones that you posted?
Yeah.
For Amy's sake.
Listen, Amy, it's hard enough that I have to keep monitoring all the comments and deleting everything from your friends so that my girlfriend doesn't see it.
Because all the friends know she's alive. Yeah, you got to block the friends.
You're going to be caught at some point, Max, and it's going to be so much worse for you.
The truth always comes out, bro.
Dude, if I found out a guy was lying to me about his ex being dead, that is breakup material.
Fine, I'll do it.
Whatever.
I don't care.
Oh, man.
He's going to beat him. It really broke his heart to have to take down his dead girlfriend. Well, that's the final step.
Yeah.
Right in the closure.
Take the pictures away. It's acceptance.
We've got through all the stages of grief.
Now she is a ghost. Amy, do you want to say thank you to your ex? I doubt it.
No, I want to tell him to go to hell.
Oh.
Maybe delete the photos first.
Some people think that is part of the journey.
Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
All right.
Unpopular opinion. I think they might be soulmates.
And their second time around is going to be amazing.
I got to say, she was a terrible fighter. She immediately went to name calling him. There is no way that relationship was ever going to work.
I don't know, but there was definitely sparks.
When you say, hey, the relationship is missing that fire, you're not talking about them.
No, you're not talking about that fire.
Different fire.
But there is definitely flames happening.
I can see why their friends never want them to get back together again. I mean, she said that, and they're definitely the couple that show up to a party and cause a scene.
Every time.
At least I have an excuse so when I get fired, I'm just going to say, oh, everyone on the show died but me.
Well, hey, that was the bright side. We found out our caller isn't dead.
Well, good. That's cool.
That never happens during these calls. But if you ever want to help with a weird situation that's in your life, email the show. We can give you our advice and help you call that person.
Go check out all of our awkward calls online wherever you get your podcasts. It's Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.
