Well, if you didn't take us seriously before today, I don't know if you're going to take our help seriously after. It's Birgit Jeffrey in the morning, and I'll say it's the first time ever that Bugs Bunny and the rest of the crew from the Looney Tunes has helped out with someone's dating life.

Hey, that's a good point.

They should make that a movie. Right? Yeah. Bugs does give.

Michael a kiss in the space gym.

Oh, that's a good point. But did he get a call back from Michael?

No.

He did he should have called us for help yeah all right yes I've.

Talked of course about our Halloween costumes we're dressed up right now we would love it if you went and checked out our socials at Brooke and Jeffrey watched all of our big reveals on YouTube and we've got a ton of fun TikToks right now also at Brooke and Jeffrey so thanks for being here hope you're in the spirit because we've got a very special brand new Halloween second date.

Update for you right now.

Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning second date update.

Halloween is nearly upon us, and we've been getting a lot of fun, interesting, and frightening date ideas coming from our listeners in their emails.

Yes!

This one is from a guy named Sean, who says the first time he met his date, he couldn't see her.

Oh.

Whoa, she's got the invisibility cloak from Harry Potter on.

Or maybe he just had his eyes closed.

Oh, well, that's less dramatic. It's none of that. She's not under invisibility cloak. She's not a ghost. It's because it was pitch dark when they first met.

Oh, that's creepier, Jeff.

When the lights finally came on. He did not scream at the sight of her. That's a good sign.

Let's learn more about it. Sean, welcome to the show, man.

Hey, guys.

Thanks for having me.

Sean, why are you finding random women in the dark?

It's not as creepy as it sounds, I swear.

Oh, really?

It's not good when you have to start the story with that sentence.

What dark place did you meet this woman?

Okay, so a buddy of mine, him and I, we went to this horror film fest. Oh, good. Yeah, it's like a 48-hour thing. Oh, okay. You know, they got nonstop horror flicks. Okay.

This explains why you couldn't really see her.

Yeah.

And some people come dressed up in their costumes and stuff like that. But my buddy and I, we came normal, you know, just normal outfits. Oh. Yeah, no, we were kind of lame. And on top of that, we were late. So it's like 0 for 2.

So you walked into the theater when the movie's already going?

Yeah, we just tried to find the seats as close to the entrance as we could. And I go to plop down in the seat and I stepped in something. Like, I don't know what it was. It was like really sticky. So I looked to the person next to me and I'm like, or something.

So now you're coming in late to the movie talking on top of it?

And accusing people next to you of being messy.

Yeah, when you probably knocked their drink over.

You know, these are.

These are all really good points.

Okay. And what does the person next to you say?

She actually just laughed and said no, but, you know, I wouldn't touch it with your hand.

That's a life lesson right there.

Yeah. But I don't know. That kind of opened up some banter.

Oh, wait.

This is the girl? The girl you randomly ended up sitting next to?

Yeah. Yeah. This is the girl. And I'm kind of a talker with my buddies during the movies. I'm like that guy. And she was, she was too. And everyone was screaming in the theater. We were watching some like old scary movie. And I'm like, why is everyone so freaked out? Like this movie is old as hell. Yeah.

Oh, my God. Special effects aren't even good.

You're kind of a buzzkill. But she likes that, right?

She's with you on that?

Totally with me. And here's the thing. So, obviously, it's really dark in there. I can't see her at all. And then the lights come on.

Yeah.

And she was dressed like Wednesday Addams. She was really cute, had pigtails, black outfit. And obviously, I figured out her name. Her name was Allie. And she was coming to the horror fest just like me with a friend. But her friend didn't show. And so my buddy and I, we were going to stay for the next one. And it started in like an hour. And I was like, well, hey, if you're coming to the next one, which she was also, I was like, let's go get a drink at a bar and kill some time until the next one.

She third wheeled you and your buddy at the bar.

Yeah.

Kind of. That's cool, though.

So she agreed to that?

She was real cool about it. We met at the bar, and obviously, my buddy and I, we've been friends for years, so he.

Knows the drill.

I'm like, look, man, if it's going well, get the hell out of there.

Wingman, we all know. Come on, fake a heart attack.

Do something.

I was thinking just go to the theater earlier, Jeff. I'll meet you guys over there.

That's not believable. He was late to the first.

One, Brooke. I don't know.

My friend's an idiot. So I'm under the table freaking like kicking the guy's leg. I'm like, yo, get a hint.

Now's your moment.

Yeah. And basically he comes up with this excuse like he forgot to take his dog out. And it was so obvious and such bad acting.

Yeah, but that's okay. Don't you think that's okay?

Yeah, no big deal. You know, we get it.

But it could make it awkward at the table if he's so bad and he's like, oh my gosh, I forgot I own a dog. And also that dog needs to use the bathroom now.

If she likes this guy, she'd be like, oh my God, so cute.

Finally.

But if she's not into him, then it's like, no, please.

Yes.

I mean, was she picking up on it?

Oh, everyone did, but she liked it. She was vibing with me and believe it or not, we ended up, we ditched the movie and just ended up staying talking at the bar for like an hour and a half. It was awesome. And at the end of it, I was like, well, Hey, I would love to see you again. And she said the same to me. And so I, I got her number, and here's the thing. I never heard back again from her. Ever.

When you say ever, you make it sound like a really long time.

How long is it?

The work week, five days.

A work week.

Oh, wow.

That does feel like forever. I guess so.

That's really funny. Yeah, I mean, it feels like forever to me when you're replaying everything that happened and all the interaction. I'm like, where did I go wrong? What did I do? Like, you overthink it.

Did you actually ask.

Her if she was single? Like, do you know for sure? Because what if she was just like, oh, yeah, some cool dudes to hang out with? Because it doesn't feel date-ish when you're going with two dudes to a bar.

You know?

Yeah, no, I mean, it didn't come up in conversation, but... I mean, I don't think she would have gone out with me if she was. I feel like it was pretty obvious that I was flirting.

Right, especially with your buddy with the bad acting, for sure.

Yeah.

Yeah, and then to stay an hour and a half after that. Like, I don't know. I've been wracking my brain. Trying to think where I went wrong, but I don't know. I can't figure it out. Yeah.

I mean, I rack my brain all the time and nothing happens. So let's hope for better results when we come back in forever. A song from now and try and get you your second date update Halloween edition right after this.

Hold on. Okay.

Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning. Second date update.

If you're just joining us, our listener Sean went on an impromptu date with Wednesday Addams. Or at least a woman who was wearing her costume.

Yeah, the adult version.

Yeah, at a horror movie film fest. Her real name is Allie, turns out. And they had a little bit of banter in the theater. Ended up going out to a bar together afterwards where Sean's friend gave one of the worst wingman performances of all time to leave. The table was like shaking from him trying to kick his buddy.

And get the heck out of there.

Just so you guys know, it's so obvious to women when you're kicking each other under the table.

Like that does not go unmissed.

We're not smooth.

But he did get the hint, eventually left, and it gave Sean and Allie a chance to really sit down and talk. for like an hour and a half.

It sounds awesome. I mean, they even skipped the second movie.

Yeah, so why is Ali now ignoring him for the past five days? That's what brings Sean to us.

It is a very Wednesday Addams thing to do.

Oh.

I'm just... Do you think.

Maybe she's really sticking to her character then, Sean?

Um, I don't know. It's hard to tell. I mean, I.

We're joking, Sean.

Yeah. Oh, right, right. Yeah.

Loosen up a little bit, buddy.

We're good.

Yeah.

It's okay.

We're going to give Allie a call here and see if she answers and hopefully can explain why she's been gone for almost an entire business week.

Man.

Such a weird way to describe it.

All right, I'm good.

Thank you, guys.

That's right, because it was five days.

In Sean's mind, he said that was like forever.

I mean, it does feel.

Like that when you can't stop thinking about somebody, you know?

It's true. I cannot get her out of my mind. Aw, that is nice.

I'm going to tell her that when we call her. So here we go.

Dude, it may work, actually. I know he's joking, but.

Let's see.

I'm going to dial her number right.

Now.

Hello?

Hey, is this Allie?

This is Allie.

Who's this?

Hey, Allie, this is a radio show called Brooke and Jeffrey in the Morning.

And we are excited to talk to you.

Is that not right? That's true.

Wait, why do you want to talk to me?

Because we're doing this segment that I don't know if you're familiar with.

It's called a second date update.

And we're trying to get some answers for a listener that you were kind of on an impromptu date with not too long ago.

I don't know.

She's like, more information, please.

I'll give you a little more.

His name is Sean.

Sean.

And you met him at a horror movie film festival.

Oh, my God.

Like Shaun of the Dead.

Exactly. Yeah.

I remember Shaun.

Good.

Cool.

All right. What did you think about Sean?

I mean, when we first met, I thought he was really funny.

Okay.

And cute. And he was also with a friend. Oh, my God.

You were pleasantly surprised by who you were sitting next to.

Oh.

Did you say the other friend was also cute?

Did I hear that? Yeah, they were both cute.

Yeah, that's good.

Bingo. I mean, yeah.

You are who you hang out with, they say. Yeah, okay. You're all a bunch of cuties.

Why is that weird to you guys that she said that?

I don't think that's weird.

Maybe the interest was not directed where we thought it was.

Yeah.

I mean, we don't know.

All we've heard is that Sean is a little bit sad that it's been five days since you guys hung out and he hasn't heard anything from you.

Okay, well.

Let me tell you why.

Yes, please. Oh, my God.

Is it a funny?

It sounds like a funny story.

I mean, I didn't think it was that funny. But we ended up not going to that second movie. And then when we were leaving, he just kind of said something that was off kilter to me.

Wait, he said one thing and that ruined all of it?

Yeah. Mm hmm.

I've definitely done that on this show before, but what did he say?

Good point.

I'm trying to imagine what could he have said.

To ruin all that?

Yeah. So when we were leaving, you know, we had talked about maybe getting together again and obviously we exchanged numbers and he was like, okay, like, bye, see you Wednesday. And I was like, wait, no, we didn't talk about getting together on Wednesday. And he was like, oh no, like, your costume, like your Wednesday from Wednesday.

Yeah. Yeah. He said that to us. See you Wednesday.

Yeah.

Right.

Yeah.

He said that. And I was confused because I wasn't wearing a costume.

Oh. Oh.

But Wednesday Adams is like the cutest of all.

Yeah.

Of all the dead people on the show.

She's not dead.

The closest to death.

No. She's adorable.

Wait, why?

Why was it offensive?

I mean, one, I wasn't wearing a costume and he thought I was. And I guess he thinks that I cut my own bangs and like look like I came out of an orphanage or like a weird house.

I don't think you should be insulted by that. Wednesday Addams is adorable.

And it's like a cute goth look. Yeah.

Didn't you like say like, hey, by the way, I'm not in costume.

No, I didn't.

I was just like, oh, this man just thinks I'm dressed up in a costume and he doesn't realize that this is my like normal style. So he's probably not into it.

Well, I don't know. I understand why maybe you thought what you're thinking, but I don't think Sean meant it like that.

And he's totally he's totally into you.

I mean, he told us like the lights came on and he thought you were so cute.

Yeah, in costume, in what he thought was a costume.

No way.

He didn't say it like that. No, because he's judging her on a sliding scale of costume prettiness.

Exactly. It does not look like she cuts her own bangs.

I kind of see your offensiveness. I can see why you got upset.

I see it, but I think it's a coincidence because you're at this horror fest. There's a lot of people around you that are dressed up, and it's just a simple misunderstanding on his part.

He was like, see you later, witch.

Yeah, he's not judging your outfit. There's worse things.

To be thought of in costume.

And why are we speaking for him when Sean is on the phone right now and can speak for himself?

Because you need to know he's listening to this, Allie.

He's on the phone?

Yeah.

Hey, hi, Allie. How are you? Oh, my God. Hi, Sean.

Oh, my God.

I didn't know you were listening. Okay, so just to clarify, it for sure was not a costume, right?

Oh, my God.

That is not what you want to.

Come up with.

That sounds rude.

Sean coming in cold.

Yeah, exactly what I'm saying.

Look, I don't understand. I mean, we were at a horror fest. Everyone else was dressed up. I guess I just assumed, you know?

Sean, I think the word that you're looking for is I'm sorry.

Yes!

Where is the.

Heartfelt apology and the embarrassment, Sean?

Yeah.

Well, have you guys ever, like, come up to a woman and said, oh, my God, what do you do? And she wasn't pregnant? No! No! No!

Are you that person, Sean?

Is that who you are? No, no, I've never done that, but I mean, I've seen it done before.

That is a terrible analogy.

He's trying to make it super relatable to everybody.

I just didn't appreciate being called that, like a teenage angst horror character when this is how I dress and like this is my normal attire. So yeah, I found it off-putting.

Yeah. Well, wait, so you wear like black all the time? Like all black?

Yeah, I wear black.

How about, Oh my God, I thought you were so cute and I'm still really attracted to you.

I am. I am. I thought you were so cute. I still are. I think, I think you're cute.

That's nice.

Okay. Oh man, this is really hard. I don't know what else to say. I just, I like you. I wanted to go on another date. I didn't mean to offend you. I thought you're cute.

You know, and do you still think that knowing now that she wasn't in a costume?

Well, to be honest with you, I don't really think I should answer that.

What?

Because, I mean, I think she was in the costume. I just think she doesn't want to admit it. Okay.

You're doubling down. You think she's lying about not being dressed up in costume?

Shauna, I just think you're digging a hole for yourself right now because no one else thought that I was in costume for, like, I.

Don't know what to tell you.

Well, hold on a second. My buddy, James, who, you know, you remember James. We went to the bar with him. He literally, he sent me a GIF with Wednesday Adams afterwards. And I was like, dude, yes. She looked exactly like that.

He says, Jeff, that's a red flag.

Maybe, maybe they're just saying you look like Jenna Ortega, who is. She is so beautiful.

Yeah. Yeah.

When she's in the show Wednesday, she's playing a character and she's wearing a costume and I'm not. And if Sean can't believe when I have said repeatedly on this call, like what else will he not believe me on if we go out on another date?

I think the best way to prove to Sean once and for all that it's not a costume is to go out with him one more time and dress the way that you normally dress.

And that'll show him.

You know what?

I will say yes to going out with James because he's cuter.

What?

The same thing that Sean did.

I would like to try my luck with James.

He kissed it first!

Okay, well, it sounds like she's shifted her interest and now she's more into your friends.

Okay, well, you know what? I'm the only one who has his number. So I don't know how you're going to get in touch with him unless it's through me.

Actually, Sean, that's where you're wrong. When you went to the restroom, he gave me his number.

Wait, what? Are you serious?

Well, there you go. Okay.

Well, congratulations, Allie. Looks like we got you another date.

Amazing.

Are you kidding me? You guys were supposed to.

Hey, it's not your friend's fault.

And you know what? Isn't it nice when your friends are happy?

No!

Brooke and Jeffrey in the morning.

We're getting a lot of texts in 78592 from people saying his buddy did him dirty. Getting her number while he was in the bathroom.

I mean, you know, some.

Dudes are wingmen and some dudes are the opposite. Also probably why he wasn't leaving right away.

Yeah. I mean, it doesn't sound like they really talked about it. For sure.

No, that's a good point.

Usually there's like a hidden or like a text even.

Yeah.

Hey, brother, you know.

Yeah, but it does bring me to this.

Am I counting this one as a win, even though it's not with the guy who originally called in?

Yeah, sure.

I mean, absolutely.

It's a win for her.

Definitely. They're both cute.

Do I feel good about it? I shouldn't, but the answer is still also yes. All right.

Because sometimes a win is a win. That's right.

He had a hard time apologizing too, Jeff.

He did.

So, you know, whatever.

And we can't keep hovering around a 15% success rate on this segment.

We need a better percentage.

And if we're going to take cheap victories along the way with friends and family members, I say let's do it.

Let's go.

All right.
