From the St. Ignatius Chapel at the Manresa Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Center in Pickering, Ontario. The National Catholic Broadcasting Council presents the Daily TV Mass.

Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I am Bishop Robert Cassen, an auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Toronto. The televising of today's Mass is made possible by contributions from two donors. The first is Larry Picard from San Antonio, Texas, for the intentions of the Picard family and for Our Lady's intentions.

And the second donation is from Beatrice and Esteban Gabrielle from Vancouver, British Columbia, for peace and prosperity for the family, for the souls of departed family members, and for opportunities for children who are in need. Our thanks to the donors for the gift of today's Mass. Pope Leo XIV shared his vision of an effective Catholic school.

He said, The Catholic school is a place where faith, culture, and life cross paths. It is not just an institution, but a living environment in which the Christian vision permeates every discipline and every interaction. The Catholic Education Foundation of Ontario is an organization that promotes Catholic education in Ontario.

For fifty years, they have done this by recognizing student achievement, research in Catholic education, and support of Catholic education leadership. For all those involved in Catholic schools, they will want to recognize the importance and the gift of a publicly funded Catholic education system in the province of Ontario.

Please join us at the end of today's Mass as we celebrate the student winners from every Catholic secondary school in the province who are being honored for their outstanding service to school, church, and community. We also congratulate those schools who are the recipients of the Michael Cardi and Michael Monk Awards, recognizing their service to community.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you. Brothers and sisters, as we gather, let us call to mind our sins with humility and contrition, and ask God for the grace of repentance. I confess to Almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I ask the Blessed Mary, ever virgin, angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Lord, have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Let us pray. Keep your family safe, O Lord, with unfailing care, that relying solely on the hope of heaven's grace, they may be defended always by your protection.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.

unknown Amen.

A reading from the letter of Paul to the Ephesians. Each of us was given grace according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore it is said, When he ascended on high, he made captivity itself a captive. He gave gifts to his people. When it says he ascended, what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth?

He who descended is the same one who ascended far above all the heavens so that he might fill all things. The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.

We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people's trickery, by their craftiness and deceitful scheming. But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into Him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body's growth in building itself up in love.

The word of the Lord.

Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem. Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord Jerusalem built as a city that is bound firmly together to it the tribes go up the tribes of the go rejoicing to the house of the Lord Hallelujah Hallelujah I do not wish the sinner to die says the Lord, but to turn to me and live Hallelujah.

And we adored here. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke. When Jesus was teaching the crowds, some of those present told him about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus asked them, Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were worse sinners than all other Galileans?

No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all perish as they did. Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam fell on them. Do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others living in Jerusalem? No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all perish just as they did.

Then Jesus told this parable. A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on it, and found none. So he said to the gardener, See here, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and still I find none. Cut it down. Why should it be wasting the soil?

But the gardener replied, Sir, let it alone for one more year until I dig around it and put manure on it. If it bears fruit next year, well and good. But if not, you can cut it down. The Gospel of the Lord.

Praise you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Don't you just love the parable of the barren fig tree? It has been a favorite of mine for many years. And I think it is beautiful, especially because it speaks to us powerfully and beautifully about the tender love of God in Jesus for us. The story consists of three figures. One is the owner of the vineyard, and in his vineyard there is a fig tree.

The second character is the gardener, and he is the one who is anxious to keep the fig tree alive. And the third character, although not a person, is the fig tree. And the fig tree is you and me. And the fig tree represents, in some ways, our own life. When we are not bearing fruit as we can and as we should.

So the gardener or the owner of the vineyard says, I've looked for fruit on this tree for three years. I've had it with this tree. Cut it down. It's taking up good soil. But then notice the gardener, how beautifully and how tenderly the gardener speaks. Sir, let it alone for one more year until I dig around it and put manure on it.

If it bears fruit next year, well and good. That, dear brothers and sisters, is how our Lord loves us and pursues us. God in Jesus is the one who wishes us to change, to repent, to turn around in our life, to turn away from sin, toward the values of Jesus and the gospel, while he, that is, the Lord, cultivates around us and offers fertilizer so that we may be able to grow and bear the kind of fruit that he wishes us to bear.

That is the kind of love with which Jesus loves us. How beautiful and how tender it is. And we can be extremely grateful for that kind of love. However, there is also a caveat at the end of the reading, one that is realistic, where the gardener says to the owner of the fig tree, but if the tree does not bear fruit after one more year, then you can cut it down.

And this is the line that brings us into the reality of our life. We believe, of course, in the God of second chances and third chances and fourth and fifth and sixth and on and on. But sooner or later the day of judgment comes. Part of our Lord's love for us is that we will change, that we will turn away from sin and put on for others to see the love of Christ radiant in our world.

So today, may each one of us recollect in what ways we may need to change, to turn away from sin, so that we may be bearers of good fruit. The prayers of the faithful. Let us offer our prayers for all those in our daily TV Mass Prayer Intentions book. We pray to the Lord for Catholic high school students everywhere, that the witness they give in their schools, in their homes, in their workplaces, wherever they may be, will be ultimate signs of the love of God for each of us, and that they may be truly transformed by that love.

We pray to the Lord. God of love, hear these petitions we lift up to you today through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you, which earth has given and human hands have made, it will become for us the bread of life.

By the mystery of this water wine, we will come to share in the divine life of Christ, who humbled himself to share in our humanity. Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation, for through your goodness we have this wine we offer you, fruit of the vine, and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink.

Blessed be God forever.

With humble spirit and contrary heart, may we be accepted by you, O God, and may our sacrifice in your sight be pleasing to you, Lord God. Wash me, O Lord, of my iniquity, cleanse me of my sin. Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father. O Lord our God, who once established these created things to sustain us in our frailty, grant we pray that they may become for us now the sacrament of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen. The Lord be with you. Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God. For in goodness you created man, and when he was justly condemned, in mercy you redeemed him through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Through him the angels praise your majesty, dominions adore, and powers tremble before you. Heaven and the virtues of heaven and the blessed Seraphim worship together with exaltation. May our voices we pray join with theirs in humble praise as we acclaim.

Holy holy holy Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord Hosanna in the highest.

You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy therefore these gifts we pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the dew fall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body which will be given up for you.

In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith.

For by your cross and resurrection you have set us free.

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo, our Pope, and Francis, our bishop, and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope. Of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face.

Have mercy on us all. We pray that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through him, with him, in him. O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, together we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but look on the faith of your church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever. May the peace of the Lord be with all of you. Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world. Have mercy on us, Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world. Grant peace.

Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I'm not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word, and my soul shall be healed. May the body and blood of Christ keep us safe for eternal life. Amen.

Please join me now in this act of spiritual communion. My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you, now and forever.

Amen.

O God, who have willed that we be partakers in the one bread and the one chalice. Grant us, we pray, so to live that made one in Christ, we may joyfully bear fruit for the salvation of the world through Jesus Christ our Lord. The Lord be with you. May Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Let us go in peace and joy.

Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this Math.

We gather we stay in the Father Son. We gather with Jesus' son. We never remain with us in his son. We have spirit of Jesus. We have spirit.
