Kimberly Guilfoyle’s $100K Amex texts, explained — Dingus of the Week Podcast #44

Kimberly Guilfoyle made her name as a <a href="ebar.com/story/162233"; target="_blank">prosecutor in the San Francisco dog mauling case, but she's making her criminal future on a Wall Street Journal report that she <a href="thedailybeast.com/kimberly-guilfoyles-demand-f…; target="_blank">asked Kentucky lawyer Eric Deters to wire money to pay her American Express bill. The Journal reviewed alleged Signal texts between the two. Deters says he had already paid her $300,000 over the years and “not received one favor,” and he did not make the payment. Guilfoyle’s lawyer disputes the messages’ authenticity.

It’s not the first Journal story on her conduct. A <a href="tovima.com/wsj/democrats-call-for-probe-into-k…; target="_blank">September investigation examined her work alongside Aktor Group lobbyist Christos Marafatsos, and congressional Democrats asked the State Department for records. Guilfoyle’s lawyer and the embassy <a href="thenation.com/article/politics/kimberly-guilfo…; target="_blank">deny any impropriety.

On this episode of DINGUS OF THE WEEK, hosts LYZ LENZ and ZACHARY OREN SMITH break down the Guilfoyle story and the rise that led to it.

DINGUS OF THE WEEK is a weekly comedy news podcast where writers Lyz and Zach light a fire under the American rogue's gallery to see who comes spilling out.
