Episode 382: Jazzy Nursery Rhymes and Children's Songs, Pt. 2

Here we go again. Up the slide. Down the slide!

Here's the song list of nursery rhymes, children's songs, and adult songs children will enjoy....all performed by jazz artists and mostly in a style that jazz fans will appreciate. (Well, maybe not always!).

Here's the set list:

• Won't You Be My Neighbour--Johnny Costa

• My Favourite Things--Betty Carter (some children might get freaked out by this version of it)

• Your Feets Too Big--Fats Waller (every kid will love this one and drive their parents nuts singing it)

• Twinkle Twinkle Little Star---Carol Welshman (honest! I'm not kidding).

• Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat--Jamie Cullum

• St. Thomas--Sonny Rollins (probably more for adults....but it was a nursery song in The Virgin Islands)

• Cielito Lindo--Sunna Gunnlaugs Trio (may have heard dirty lyrics to that one as children. Especially if they listened to Oscar Brand records.

• Little Twelvetoes---Bob Dorough (from Schoolhouse Rock. Great for those who are mathematically inclined)

• Good Little Girl--Phil Woods with Vicki Doney and Bob Dorough. (from Now We Are Six by A.A. Milne--who wrote Winnie The Pooh).

• Bibbidi Bobbido Boo (French version)---Stacey Kent. (From Walt Disney's Cinderella).

• Salt Peanuts (Dizzy Gillespie)--Bob Mover and Walter Davis Jr.

• Children's Song (This Old Man, he played nick nack on my......)---Thelonious Monk

• Linus and Lucy--Vince Guaraldi (from Charlie Brown's Christmas)

• Brahm's Lullaby--Dave Brubeck (recorded when he was 91).
