Welcome in to Good Morning Football, everybody. Presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky.
Happy day before.
Halloween, but this is when we celebrate on a Friday on GMFB. Jamie Erdahl, Manti Teo, Seth Rollins here in Los Angeles. Kyle Brandt in the spookiest place of all, in Buffalo Bill's basement. I myself, Kyle, I am not Brian Flores. I am the Minnesota Vikings defense. They blitz with their hair on fire, my friend.
So, quarterbacks, beware.
Quarterbacks, beware for this 6-1-2 blitz defense that hails from Minnesota.
KB, what you got?
Jamie, you look great.
And by the way, everybody, we're going to explain what we're going to do today.
I was going to be Buffalo Bill here in Buffalo Bill's basement, but it involves me being naked and having.
To adjust certain body parts. So I'm not going to do it.
I'm not allowed to do it. Here's the deal.
You're looking at me and you're like, are you wearing a Sam Darnold jersey?
No.
This is, no, there's Precious.
There's Precious yapping at me in the basement.
This is Frank Reich.
Yes.
Okay. I have a very random jersey collection. In every segment of this show, I'm going to wear a different jersey. This is Frank Reich, 1995 Expansion Panthers. He was in the 85 draft. Out of Maryland. I think, there it is. Wow.
I love you, Frank Reich.
I know you need some goodwill with the Jets right now, but I'm going to change jerseys to something totally random every segment of the show. And look at my boys, the Packers, at the table. I love that Seth is Aaron Rodgers.
It's perfect. Your own nightmare.
Seth is having an allergic reaction right now. We're going to get him a step with an EpiPen in his thigh here soon.
AR never looked better. You know what I mean? He never looked better, baby. I'm doing him right, you know? I'm doing him justice.
You are. I love that, Seth.
Go ahead.
Well, I'm Clay Matthews.
They look like Clay Matthews played last night by the amount of pressure they put on the Panthers.
But I tried to do my hair flip.
Like how Clay Matthews has the hair.
I don't have the hair, but the Packers had the sacks and they're bringing the pressure last night against the Panthers.
Great game for the Packers.
They truly did. That was Thursday Night Football, Panthers-Packers. Kyle has the long highlight. Frank Reich, take it away.
Let's go. I don't mind if I do. Frank Gregg knows a comeback with the Panthers need one in this. We're going to start with some baseball.
Why?
Because the brew crew just won the series and they're in Lambeau. That was very cool. My first ever baseball glove was signed by Robin Yount. I love the Brewers. I'm very happy for them. They were dominant all season. But the Panthers are up 3-0 on the hometown team, and Jordan Love goes to Christian Watson. That is Watson's 12th catch of over 20 yards this season, second only to JSN, who has 14. Three plays later, look at this.
Laser from Love.
Bam! Right over the middle. A seed, a dot, whatever you want to call it. That is Tucker Kraft with the touchdown. Look at that. He is not really open unless you have an arm like that. Of course, Trace Mack makes the extra point because Trace Mack is the most electric player in the NFL right now.
Second quarter, Packers down 10-6.
Jordan Love again.
We're going deep for Watson.
This is his league-leading third catch of over 50 yards. I feel like he had 12 against the Bears alone. But he goes down, and he stays down, and this is going to be a story for throughout the night. It kind of fits the Halloween theme a little bit.
He walks off like, what's wrong with Watson? More on him later.
First of all, Josh Jacobs with those yellow sleeves, that's his costume.
He scores.
Nifty little move for a guy who's usually known for his tough runs.
But Watson's in the ambulance.
Oh, no, this is horrible.
An ambulance.
More information on it later and more updates on it later in this highlight. Now. Oh, no.
We got an interception.
That's Bryce Young and Tyron Hopper. Tyron Hopper gets his hands on it and then is able to finish the play. Just a great individual effort by him. Panthers never have won this year when Bryce Young throws an interception. They've never have lost when he doesn't. Matthew Golden, who's involved in some extracurriculars in the game, catches a touchdown wearing that number zero. Packers up 20 to 10. So many Lambeau Leafs last night. We even had a Panther do a Lambeau Leaf. Third quarter, Packers up 20 to 10.
Third and one from the fourth. Jordan Love. We're going to go over the middle again to Josh Jacobs, who does a little arrow route, gets.
Over the middle.
There was a lot of controversy about the celebration.
He had to explain it afterwards.
Says, no, it's not that.
But wait, more importantly, Christian Watson is back.
Many men, many, many, many, many men.
He is back from the hospital. Was he just riding shotgun.
In an ambulance?
I think he was. More information on him later, but he returns. Love, golden. No, intercepted by Zachy Wheatley.
Incredible.
Rookie from Penn State.
Next.
Fourth quarter, 27-13.
Oh, no, another one. It's an incredible Bryce Young throw.
He steps up, takes a huge hit. He's going to get it away to Chuba out in the flat. Chuba flexes, even though they're down two touchdowns. That's what the young kids do these days.
That's all right.
Next, Bryce.
Jalen Coker. Coker weaving and dodging and galloping.
Touchdown.
They go for two and fail. It's 27-19.
We got a ball game. One-score game.
All right. Fourth and five.
Bryce.
Throw it to Ted McMillan for the love of God. He can't hang on. It's incomplete.
Carolina turns it over on downs. Assuming Packers possession. Third and two from the 42.
A first down all but puts the game away.
Jordan Love.
Watson. Returning from the dang hospital.
Not the training room. Not the MRI. The hospital. We're going to hear about this shortly, and he's going to explain some stuff shortly, too. But I'm so glad he's back there on the field. He finished 8-113 with one trip to the hospital, 27-19. The Packers in that crazy NFC North are 5-3. And let's hear from Jordan Love and Watson, who had a crazy night in a win.
It was super dramatic, honestly. I felt like I was, you know... Watching, I used to watch WWE as a kid. I felt like I was watching WWE SmackDown versus Raw or something out there. Seeing the cameras on me when I was coming out the ambulance, that was a little crazy. But it was a surreal experience, no doubt, just to go through that and have the fans cheering. For me, being back out there was definitely exciting.
It was crazy.
It was a lot of people cheering and stuff was going on. I didn't know what was happening. I see Christian running out, and he was just resurrected. So it was great to see him. Obviously, you don't know what happened when he leaves with an injury, things like that.
I'm hoping for the best.
But to see him come back out and be able to finish the game was amazing.
Sorry, Christian Watson said what? He sounded the horn. He rang the bell. Seth freaking Rollins speak on the ambulance move.
Oh, man.
Watson, Watson 316. Look, he looks like he stunk old Steve Austin getting taken to the hospital, coming back, winning the king of the ring.
But look, I got a few little things here, all right?
Whoever wrote this thing up, these NFL script writers, they got it all wrong. Okay, what was supposed to happen is when Watson goes down, you take him out, then the Panthers get on a roll, they get the lead, and then Watson himself has to bring the ambulance back, but not just into the back area, he's got to drive it through the tunnel, onto the field, get out, come in, and catch the game-winning touchdown.
They just happened here.
It just happened in WWE land a few weeks ago, Money in the Bank were in New Orleans. The young OG himself, there he is, Javon Evans. He gets taken out by a brawn breaker spear in the ambulance all the way to the hospital. But he commandeers the ambulance and brings it back all the way to the ring.
And he's gonna win the match except, hey, who's that?
Who's that?
There he is. Jey Uso.
That's a separate situation right there. But Javon Evans climbs the ladder. He's about to win the Money in the Bank match. And then he gets dumped back into the top of the ambulance. Crashes the whole thing down. That's how it should have gone. But, you know, we got what we got. And Trish Watson comes back. Catches the ball.
Seals the deal.
Seals the deal.
Game over.
Kind of a Watson 316. Says, I just whipped your bleep, bud. It worked, man.
It worked.
I loved it, Kyle. Every second.
It's so fun.
And you know this, Seth. 2008 Royal Rumble, Madison Square Garden. John Cena had torn his pectoral. He wasn't supposed to be anywhere close to the garden. No one had seen Cena. No one was expecting Cena. And all of a sudden, my time is now hits. And out comes Cena. It was so fun to watch this.
And also, listen.
This now, this clip of Watson leaving in an ambulance, and apparently, listen, we're going to get into our insiders, but they say that he was coughing up blood, allegedly, in the sideline, and so they're really worried about that, but they go and check him out, and he's okay. Him coming back in the ambulance shotgun. I've never seen anybody ever get out of an ambulance shotgun who's apparently a fan. You just don't see that. He might as well have been driving that thing. So he gets in in the back.
And then look, he's on the side. I've never seen that before.
Has that ever happened? But honestly, this clip now is the bookend. of Caleb on the cart, right? Don't we feel kind of, it's very similar that Caleb going down against the Vikings, riding off in the cart, having the towel, the fist pump, and then 20 minutes later, he's like walking out with his family and looking fine. We've got a lot of this and it feels like we have a brother clip now from the two of them. He's on the bike. It's not just that he came back like in street clothes. He comes back into the game and is making game ceiling catches.
So fun. Absolutely loved it.
And I feel like somewhere Triple H did too.
It made everybody's eye roll, too, especially if the Packers were like, he's probable to return. Like, bro is in an ambulance. So, like, what are we talking about? Oh, wait, he did actually come back. That's actually why they use the word probable. Let's bring Ian Rappaport in now for more explanation on this situation. Keep going, Rappaport, but take it seriously because we're all so confused and a little bit concerned, but not that much because he came back.
Don't be concerned.
Christian Watson is okay. But originally, they were pretty nervous about that. So he was coughing up blood. You saw him land pretty awkwardly there. When that happens, immediately players go to the hospital just to determine what internal injuries there are. Christian Watson ended up having a broken rib, which, you know, ouch. But that's not the kind of injuries that they're looking for.
They're looking for spleen, lung.
Those are the.
Kinds of things when you go to the hospital, you make sure that a player is stable and okay. And they did the CT scan after the x-ray. What they learned was, yes, it was a broken rib, but the internal organs were fine. And if he could just deal with it, he could actually get out there and play.
And so Watson is a tough dude.
He's been through a lot. He's battled several injuries. He's a big-time player.
So you know what?
Let's go out there and play. I can deal with the pain.
So that's how you saw the dramatic re-entry into the game.
You're right.
We did need some entrance music. That would have been a little better. But back on the field. Quickly was targeted, sealing the game. It is unbelievable for Christian Watson. Now he's got a little more than a week to heal from his broken ribs.
We'll be back out there next week.
The Packers are putting on a display as of late. Rap Sheet, thanks so much. A lot of that has to do with the play of Christian Watson, of course.
Great news.
And he didn't suffer anything more serious than a broken rib, and he gave us some fun to play with on GMFB on a Friday morning. The Packers have now won three games straight, tying their longest streak over the last five seasons. Manti, what is helping the Packers right now pull in.
The same direction?
Man, the offense is starting to gel a little bit, Jamie, but the defense has been carrying them. I mean, Jonathan Gannon and that team. I watched last night Bryce Young. He got sacked six times. He could have been sacked 20 times. He dropped back 41 times the whole game. The guy was running for his life, and you're trying to think, like, man, what the heck is going on? Like, why can't they block a soul? And you realize that their right tackle is out, their left tackle is out, and that's not the right timing to go against a Packers defense that... Hasn't even gotten their best player back on defense with Micah Parsons, yet they're pressuring him like almost 50% of the snaps.
They're getting home.
They even had a sack with rushing three guys.
They had an interception.
And I don't know if anybody knew this, Seth, but they've had a turnover in seven of their eight games, at least one. So you talk about the offense, Jordan Love, Christian Watkins coming back from the ambulance. The ambulance that really was on the field was a Green Bay Packers like the guys that that defense they're playing fast.
They're playing physical.
They were putting Bryce Young on his back a lot and I swear like only six sacks, but it could have been 20 Seth. What is showing for the Green Bay Packers and they just getting started.
Yeah, the ambulance really should have been for the Carolina Panthers offense. Honestly that I mean it was a disaster. Now, I'll be the first to admit. I was a little concerned about this Packers defense coming into this season. They lose their D.C. goes to Miami to be the head coach there, Jeff Halfley. Jonathan Gannon came in, and the defense might even be better.
You mentioned it. Micah Parsons, not even back yet. I am scared.
I am terrified of what that defense could become. We're talking about Minnesota. We're talking about Seattle. we might be talking about the Green Bay Packers and that defense as well as one of the elite units in the league if Micah comes back to hold Micah form. Now, on the other side of the football, yesterday, Manti, you were saying, I want to look at the running game. I want to know Josh Jacobs is back. They got to get this thing going. Well, spoiler alert, they did not get it going. They did not get it going at all.
And guess what?
It did not matter because Jordan Love was– unstoppable. He had one bad throw in this game. It was for an interception. The rest of his throws were perfect on time. He was dissecting this defense. It didn't matter if Christian Watson was in the game and he could throw the ball 50 yards to him, which he loves to do, or if he was just going underneath. Matthew Golden had a couple of drops, but he was really good in this game. I mean, Green Bay, it was a one-score game.
It did not look like that from the first quarter on.
Guys, it was.
A domination.
Green Bay looked like the better team at every single phase of the game. It was really impressive, KB. And that pains me. That pains me as a Bears fan to say it was a very impressive win last night.
It's so weird seeing you wear that jersey, dude. You don't even look like you. You look so strange and kind of uncomfortable. Normally, you're so cool and comfortable in your own skin. You look weird this morning, man. You really do.
And look at Jordan Love is flexing you, looking at you.
It's so hot.
It feels a little gross now that I'm seeing myself here on the monitor. It does feel kind of, it's kind.
Of, we got to get it off.
I don't know.
Don't worry, don't worry.
5B is coming. I'm changing next segment. Listen, here's what I would say about the Packers last night. Impressive, intimidating. It's not just the defense and the whole thing with Micah's coming. Watson's great. They throw the deep ball so well. Here's the crazy part. That team that we saw last night that was impressive and shock and awe and beating a team I think that we respect in the Panthers, that Packers team is the last place team. Okay? They're in last place. And that's how good the North is.
They could win that division. And they could win a bye in the first round. Anything is possible for the Packers. I don't expect that to happen, but it's all in front of them. Vikings, Lions, Bears. It's like this division is awesome. It is everything that so many of these crappy ones aren't. And again, there's that almost Grim Reaper factor of Micah lurking.
Now, they were on the broadcast last night saying, you know, we need to start.
Practicing next week, but I could start whistling about it if I want. Let's bring in the sheet.
Ian, are you there?
I know you had some other things planned, and there's some other high-profile injury stuff. Can you please, in the middle of this NFC North conversation, can you give us any kind of state of the nation about Micah?
So Micah Parsons is expected to return to practice next week. That is the best news you could possibly have for the Green Bay Packers, obviously coming back from an ACL tear and a full meniscus repair. which really is the thing that has lengthened this recovery. The Green Bay Packers have the most conservative medical staff in the NFL. They want to make sure that when he is out there, he is 100% and he is not at risk of re-injury. Basically, they want Micah to be Micah when he's on the field, so there's no rushing. But the fact that he is expected to practice next week is an excellent sign for his return.
That's exactly right.
Well, the Packers have a nice long wait, especially, so that helps them. Rap sheet, let's move on to Sunday football, all right? Let's look at the Patriots, for example.
A.J.
Brown, what's the latest with the wide receiver that returned, but now what?
A return, but may not be out there on Sunday.
A.J.
Brown's status for the game on Sunday is very much up in the air, but it's not about the ankle injury that he suffered a couple weeks ago that he came back from after just four weeks, despite the fact that it was really like a six-week injury. This is about a knee that has bothered him off and on for the last several years.
My understanding is.
The knee issue flared up earlier in the week, did not practice yesterday. We'll see if he's able to get it out there today, but may not play on Sunday. For the Philadelphia Eagles, Saquon Barkley's injuries have been a story the last couple weeks for them. This time it is not just a hamstring injury that he's been battling recently, For the last couple games, also now a back injury.
Has not practiced yet this week.
The hope is that he's able to get out there today and play, but no practice yet. And then for the Minnesota Vikings, Aaron Jones, their star running back. He's been battling a knee injury believed to be an MCL sprain off and on. I believe this injury started for him in training camp. Aggravated it last week, so didn't practice on Wednesday. It was limited out there yesterday. A good sign for his participation on Sunday.
All right, Rap Sheet, thank you very much.
Happy Halloween or day before here on GMFB for Minnesota Vikings defense, Blitz of the Hair on Fire, Aaron, Clay, and Frank. We thank you, Ian Rappaport, for that information. That's real Rap Sheet right there. This Monday, staying in the NFC is the Chicago Bears.
Here they are. Head to the Pacific Northwest. Seth, you going?
Me too. You are? Yeah. Oh, wow.
Let's do it, baby.
You know why?
It's because he put that Packers jersey on.
He's like, oh, I got to get to this. I got to get to Seattle to watch my Bears play.
Catch this game on ESPN and the ESPN app.
Monday, 8 p.m.
Eastern.
Your kick.
Day full of programming leading up to that fantastic matchup.
Still to come on our show, though, on a Friday.
He's a part of this, of my Vikings defense, and he's ready to shut down the Lions this weekend. It's Minnesota Vikings safety, a man who can play all over the defense, Josh Metellus, coming on GMFB to talk his undefeated team and even play a little game with us, KB.
Yes, and our staff is very proud of this, and they should be, I think. It's something called.
Hocus Pocus QB Focus.
I like it.
I like the Hocus Pocus movie franchise now. Shout out, Bette Midler. And some great quarterback matchups this weekend.
I mean, really, really good.
Josh versus, we.
Think, Lamar.
We got Caleb, Darnall, all kinds of stuff.
There it is.
David made the full screen for it. It rhymes. That's all you need in TV. It's a good segment name, and we'll do the rest.
Don't go anywhere.
We're going to change uniforms. We'll be right back.
Good morning, football.
Happy Halloween's Eve.
I am the Minnesota Vikings defense a la 2026, and we blitz with our hair on fire, and we are a quarterback's nightmare this season. Got a couple quarterbacks in this segment. For example, let's check in on Buffalo Bill's basement.
What we got, Davey?
Hey, I said I'm going to honor a different player every single segment. Let's go to the mid-80s, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Steve Young.
Wow.
This really did happen. Bring it up. Yes. There he is. I love you, Steve Young. I'm so thrilled to be wearing this.
I'm going to change it every single segment, We've got Frank Reich on the Panthers, Steve.
Young on the Buccaneers. I feel great.
And what do we got back in L.A.? We got Tom Brady a la Patriots, so not the Buccaneers. And we got current day Josh Allen. So just a couple of quarterbacks and a maniac defense.
Different eras.
Different eras, exactly.
To play focus, focus.
QB focus.
Let's do it.
Shout out.
Let's do it.
Hocus Pocus with our bubbling cauldron. We're going to look at the quarterback matchups for this weekend.
We begin with Lamar Jackson, dot, dot, dot, and, of course, Josh Allen.
Then we're going to talk a little Deshaun Watson and Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, Bo Nix, Caleb Williams, and Sam Darnold.
First question.
Which one of these matchups has the scariest set of quarterbacks?
Manti, Teo, you're up.
I wore this intentionally.
Come on, guys. There's only one right answer.
It's Joshua Patrick Allen and Lamar Jackson.
I hope that Lamar is.
Playing because you can't think of two more dynamic matches quarterbacks not only in the past but also in the run the Baltimore Ravens need this guy back they need him back and they need him back bad this guy obviously is always an MVP conversation and when you start thinking about those defenses the Bills defense is hurting a little bit the Baltimore Ravens defense is hurting a little bit now you put these two guys against those defenses you're Point to Palooza, right, James?
Point to Palooza.
That's my matchup.
Seeing you wear these pads and his pads, quarterback pads are so different.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Seth, what you got?
Come on, Seth.
Oh, man.
I mean, this is the easy one.
That's the easy one, okay.
This is the low-hanging fruit. I'm going to go in a different direction here. I'm actually just going to move one down.
What? Right here. I know, I know.
That sounds crazy.
You like Aaron today.
Let me explain. Let me explain, all right?
Right now, we have one of the kings of the fourth quarter comeback, this guy here. and the current king of the fourth quarter comeback, Deshaun Watson.
So if I'm an opposing defense, no lead is safe.
No lead is safe in this game, and I believe it's going to be a very low-scoring affair as it is because you've got two solid defenses here as well. So it's going to come down to the fourth quarter, and which one of these guys is going to be able.
To make the play and terrify their way.
Into a dub.
I see where you went.
I see where you went with that.
I know, I know.
Look, that was hard for me, Jamie. I didn't want to go there.
You're really pro-Ed Rogers today. Go ahead, Kyle. Brown's looking to sweep that series against the Steelers. It would already be wrapped up. You know the last time they've swept the Steelers in the one season ever in the regular season? It was in 88. To go back to the 80s, that would be what happened this weekend. That's pretty cool.
It's not even this weekend, but I'm going on Monday.
Give me Caleb in Seattle against that machine. We just saw what the Seattle Seahawks defense did to the Chiefs. The idea of Caleb in his very, very naughty bad boy cleats, which I'm sure all the young kids are buying now, into the teeth of that 12th man of that Seahawks defense.
I cannot wait for this game.
We do have to wait, of course, because it's not until Monday, but... I don't think you get a lot of Bears-Seahawks matchups, and I just want this one so badly. If Caleb goes in there and wins, holy crap, he's becoming a superstar right in front of us. But if they just smack him around and send him back to Chicago, Seattle looks like the Super Bowl champs again.
What's even more gratifying about that, Kyle, is that we get to compare tests immediately week to week, which is how Patrick Mahomes did in Seattle just last week, and then how this goes. And it's so close together that your brain only goes one place.
I know where my brain goes.
All right, which one of these matchups come Monday morning on GMFB? Will Kyle just be itching to read the highlight for best highlight on a Monday morning, Manti?
Which pair does it go to?
Oh, my gosh.
That is, yeah. I'm going to go right here, okay?
That'd be Tuesday morning.
To the Tuesday morning, yes.
I'm going to go right here.
Caleb Williams, Sam Darnold, this defense against this offense. Obviously, they had some huge signings the past couple of days. We'll see if those guys actually play Quentin Nelson and all of them guys.
I really like what Caleb has been doing.
I mean, there's MVP conversations that his name hasn't been in yet. I think it should be in it, the way that this man has been playing his offense. Obviously, he doesn't have Cole Komet in there, so you won't hear that name in the highlight, but there's a plethora of other names that I'm sure that KB will be reciting whenever he does that highlight.
So I'm going to go with this game. Oh, man.
Highlight real game?
Oh, I got to go all the way back here.
No, I'm not.
Absolutely not.
This is the highlight show right here. All right, if we got a healthy Lamar Jackson, we got a top-tier MVP candidate, Josh Allen, having a great season. I mean, this picture right here is a highlight. You can make a highlight out of it pretty much every single time these guys get the ball in their hands. I see no reason why this is going to be any different.
We're not looking at, like, elite defenses on these squads either, so... I expect a high-scoring affair. I expect a lot of big plays. I'm excited to see who comes out on top. Big matchup in the AFC. And, I mean, it's just going to be fireworks. It's going to be fireworks all day, all night.
I can't wait for it.
Well, it depends on what kind of highlights you like. I like the old guy highlights.
Give me Rodgers. Give me Rodgers and Watson.
I like the cutaways of Rodgers' weird gray face smirking or getting angry. Watson's football has been very good recently. It's not going to have the Lamar Josh stuff. It's not going to have the Caleb stuff. But any time Rodgers even just straps on his cleats at this point in.
His mid-40s, I consider it a highlight.
I also consider it a low light for this game that we're now two topics in. I don't think anybody has said Chief Broncos for anything. I'll do it.
I'll do it. What are we doing? This is actually the fourth quarter comeback kid.
22 career comebacks in his so far for Bo Nix going up against a listless Patrick Mahomes led Chiefs offense.
We just said what had a laid an egg in Seattle last weekend. Now they go to Denver.
We understand that this is how they open the season, but the Chiefs offense has looked off the.
Last couple weeks.
Kenneth Walker III is the only engine in that motorboat at this point.
So let's let's. Keep credit where credit is due. Manti, you're up next.
Which one of these matchups do you want to see 2.0 happen in the playoffs?
Oh, that's nice.
Come on.
Let's do it.
Let's do it.
This is the one.
You know why I want to see this one? Because in AFC Championship, there isn't a Patrick Mahomes here, and Patrick Mahomes is a guy that usually beats these two. I want to see one of these guys go to the Super Bowl. Matter of fact, it'll be nice to see these two guys take over that AFC Championship game.
I'm not even talking about the playoffs.
I'm talking about the conference championship game to have the Bills versus the Ravens. Lamar Jackson versus Patrick Allen. That is Josh Patrick Allen. That is where I want to go. This one, this rematch.
Oh, come on now. Come back down. They're going here. Now we're going to Monday, baby.
I want to see this in the playoffs for a variety of reasons. But, I mean, mainly it's because I want to see this guy again work his magic in January. I mean, to me, if all things go well in Bears world, this could be an NFC championship game right here.
I mean, these are two top teams.
I'm so curious to see what the Chicago Bear defense looks like with Jeffrey Simmons. I am so curious to see what the offense is going to look like going against this defense in Seattle. I mean, it's going to be an awesome game and I want to see it again. I think you're going to get it, man. I think it's going to happen.
I hope so. It'd be fun. People ask me all the time. What do you root for? Who's your team? I just root for something interesting and I root for parody. Can you imagine the Browns and the Steelers playing in the playoffs? Imagine the Browns getting back there. You know, we did see this matchup a handful of years ago with Baker Mayfield when Baker Mayfield won the But the idea that the 2026 Cleveland Browns, who exactly zero people believed in, who traded away their best.
Player, all of that would be in the playoffs.
And then on top of that, the Steelers, who very few people believed in.
Steelers, Browns in the playoffs. I root for something interesting, and that'd be fascinating.
Aaron Rodgers on his last try, too. Focus, focus. QB focus.
How about that?
Very well done. That would be a nice last round. Nobody went with this one, which we've seen a lot in January.
All right. Remember?
Oh, the ball was dropped!
It happened so fast.
Touchdown, Kansas City!
And then it was over.
Browns win!
The two-time defending NFC North champs will not be going to the postseason.
It's funny what stays with you, no matter how often you try to forget.
We know exactly what's in front of us.
Some things still linger. It's a nightmare.
Even now.
Are those quarterbacks still haunted?
They should be by this Vikings defense.
They blitz with their hair on fire. Kyle, what you got on GMFB?
You're working through your jersey closet.
Too legit.
Too legit to quit.
Hey, hey! This is my favorite athlete of my childhood. Deion Sanders, Falcons era. I can't think of two people who look more different than he and I do in these side-by-sides, but Prime, I love you.
I loved you.
I had the bandana. I had the wristbands. I bought this jersey. I got it for Christmas, actually, when I was in seventh grade. I still have it. Even the letters are wearing out on the Sanders. I wore it so many times. I worshipped prime as a kid and I love representing him and I've not Frank Reich, Steve Young and Deion Sanders and who knows what's next.
I got I got I got this is fitting K because I'm on the same train as you I got Reggie Bush.
You see this?
You see this jersey?
This is the old school hole.
In the jersey, bro.
Like you can see the patch.
Reggie Bush is my favorite college football player of all time. He went to the Saints. I went to the Saints like there's a lot of symmetry there. Reggie Bush was Probably greatest college football player ball. I mean, I got Pat Mahomes. It's mad minute.
We just went chaos. I said, grab a jersey.
Let's go.
But I will say I was also a big Dion guy. I also had the do rag. I wanted, I had earrings just like Dion. I wanted to be prime as well. So I was all in.
Honestly, I'm disappointed that nobody chose to put the do rag and the earrings on for this segment. I mean, but you know, we can only commit so far.
I tried.
Not yet.
Not yet. KB, you know, Jamie, that wouldn't have gone well for me. Their culture is not my costume.
I don't think that would.
Have worked out well.
I hear you. I hear you. Manti, let's play a little Mad Minute.
Let's do it.
You're going to start us off. Six seconds on the clock. Share the ball kindly. Raiders-Jets. That's our first game, Manti.
Mad Minute, go ahead.
The conversation around the Raiders has always been Kirk Cousins. When are they going to put Fernando Mendoza? Guys, Kirk Cousins leads the league in passing touchdowns right now.
I don't know if you could.
demote somebody that leads the league in any passing category like that.
Kirk Cousins has been great.
Given the targets that he's been able to throw to or can't throw to, I think you keep Kirk Cousins in there. Let Fernando Mendoza continue to sit and mentor under one of the best cerebral quarterbacks in the game.
Yeah, I'm with you, Manti. I'm just curious to see if the Raiders can get back on track. You know, like a few weeks ago, we were talking about them all. Can they win this division? And now they've lost a few in a row. They're not looking great. So I'm just very curious to see, can they get themselves back on track? Or, I mean, if things go awry in this game, is the Mendoza chatter going to get.
Louder and louder and louder?
Yeah, if things go awry at MetLife, there's going to be a lot. It's not going to be chatter. It's going to be screaming. God, the Jets pissed me off. Here we are, 2-5. I thought this was going to be different. We've reached that part of the Jets season where Jets fans are like, don't go to the games.
You have to show Woody that you're not.
Going to pay for this anymore.
You're not going to support this.
They're going to go to the games. I hate that part of the season every time, but we're already there.
Kyle, coming right back to you for Titans-Bengals. Specifically, your Titans.
Specifically, your Titans.
Without Jeffrey Simmons anymore, Titans-Bengals.
60 seconds on the clock.
Yeah, this one could get ugly. I wish I had something else. Did you see the Bengals in the second half against Baltimore? It was like, you know, Jamie, you have almost like a Daenerys Targaryen thing going on with your hair today. You know, the Khaleesi. The Bengals in the second half were just Dracarys. And that was against the Ravens. Not the Simmons-less Titans. I love you, Tennessee.
Just buckle up. This one could be tough.
Yeah, it could get ugly.
Well, for the Cincinnati Bengals, I would say this. I want to see them play a full entire game. We mentioned that last week they played a really good second half. With the talent that they have offensively and the defense that's really coming into themselves, I want to see that whole four-quarter Cincinnati Bengals knowing how good the AFC North is, Seth.
Yeah, I mean, it's going to be a statement game for Cincinnati. You know, they're in a tough division as well. Everybody in the AFC North is above 500 as well. I mean, it's no joke, but they got to get a big win here. And on the other side of that, Tennessee, dude, you know, they could come into this and say.
Screw it.
We just trade away our best player and we're going to come out guns blazing.
Let's go.
That was the Dan Sanders.
Seth, right back to you for Falcons books as the NFC South now becomes a lot more fascinating with the Panthers dropping the game last night in Green Bay.
Yeah, I mean, after the first month of the season, I saw Carolina looking like they're going to repeat in this division. Atlanta had a flash. Tampa looked like they weren't going to do it. But now we're starting to get in the middle stretch here. Things are changing. This thing is wide open. I'm kind of looking to see who's going to, you know, dominate, who's going to, like, plant their flag here in the NFC South.
It's very interesting. The Tampa Bay defense looked fantastic.
And.
Can we get a little Bijon? I'm missing some Bijon highlights.
We haven't had any for a couple of weeks, KB.
This game's impossible to pick. The entire NFC South is impossible. You saw the Panthers last night. Listen, at this point in the season, there's teams we know are going to matter at the end. There's teams we know aren't going to matter. And then there's the NFC South in the middle. I have no idea. I don't know who's good. I don't know who's bad. Thankfully, we get this game because it's impossible to pick. They can just play it out. Yeah, we don't know who's good.
Maybe.
I would say Todd Bowles in that defense has been good. The past three weeks, they've been dynamite, especially going back all the way to that Cowboys game, then the Pittsburgh Steelers, and then last week against the Carolina Panthers. Michael Penix, just give the ball to B. John Robinson and Drake Linden.
You'll be okay.
All right, we've got to move on because we've got a guest waiting in the wings, someone who is a member of this 6-1-2 blitz defense that plays with their hair on fire.
It's Minnesota Vikings.
Safety Josh Metellus.
Come on!
Let's get in here, McNallis.
Let's go.
70% blitz rate for this defense this season. That's a passing grade if you ask me. All right, we're checking in on the Halloween costumes here on GMFB. Day before, so we're still committing to the bid. This Minnesota Vikings event is going to make a lot more sense to you in a second.
70% blitz rate. KB, what you got in this segment?
Well, you know, before I was doing the Dion Black Falcons there in the black jersey. This time I went with Ezekiel Elliott.
No, I didn't.
It's Dion in.
The Cowboys jersey. That's how you know it's good. You know how you know why? Look at this. Look at this. Yeah, baby. I keep getting the wrong angle. You know how you know this is not an Ezekiel Elliott? You know, guys, because Manti.
Starter.
Ezekiel wasn't wearing a.
Starter brand jersey.
That wasn't around in the NFL. They did the starter, and I love it.
Uh-huh.
Well, talk about starters, I got Adrian Peterson. Me and Seth are trying to be on.
Pace with what we're talking about.
Yeah.
Obviously, one of the greatest runners, angry runners.
I don't know how many.
Sectors he would have gotten, KB, but he would have got a lot.
Yep.
AP, AD, all day.
Yeah.
Yeah, you got one of the greatest running backs of all time. I got one of the greatest pass catchers of all time, 84.
You know it. You love it. In purple. It feels gross again for me. But here we are. Randy Moss, the GOAT, baby.
Well, with that, let's.
Welcome in one of the members of one of the best defenses putting on paper this season in the Minnesota Vikings. He's a captain. He's a tone setter. And he's welcoming us to a flavor of this Vikings defense.
It's safety Josh Metellus.
What's going on? What's up?
What's up?
What's up, guys?
What's up?
Thanks for having me. Love the outfits.
Thank you. Thank you.
Even though we are a day early to Halloween, I'm sure you guys and the crew are going to put something together this weekend. Can you grade our outfits, though? Can you give us the GMFB Halloween look a grade here?
I see two purples, so of course I'll give it a 10.
Nice.
Yeah.
And I'm sure you liked watching Dion as well. All right, Josh, you are the ultimate glue guy. We love watching you play all over the field. That has to play to your advantage in disguises.
If I have that correct.
The quarterback has to respect and keep eyes on wherever you are. How do you see that being so challenging for quarterbacks when they're trying to read your defense?
Yeah, I think the way we play, the way we utilize, you know, guys' skill sets, especially mine, moving around, playing different spots, you're able to get the quarterback's eyes on me, you know, as a key, not whether, you know, if I'm blitzing or not, but as a key of what defense we're in. And that's, you know, where we're able to send guys like Cash, E-Will, you know, DT and Gink off the edge, 2-2 blitzing somewhere. And we're able to cause havoc that way when we move guys in different spots.
Yeah, you guys have been a nightmare, brother. You've been locking down a whole bunch of offenses. You're only allowing 12.3 points per game. You're blitzing more than anyone right now in the league. What is it about the Brian Flores system that creates so much chaos for an opposing offense?
I think, you know, the way we're able to understand the chaos. You know, we bring a lot of chaos. We want to blitz. We want to cause chaos. for the quarterback and for the offense. But at the end of the day, we know where the spots are. We know what we're trying to take away. We know the spots where we're vulnerable, so we're able to play fast and still aggressive in that way.
Josh, your defense is, it's the number one unit in the league right now. It's really, in a lot of ways, the number one story in the league. You've led up 10 points, 13, 10, 16, and 3. There's a sense, though, hear me out, that that's not sustainable in a sense that one of these weeks, the NFL's too good, the offenses are too good, someone's gonna put 20, someone might put 30 at some point, and you're gonna need that offense of yours to respond. Kyler's finding his way. Jay Jetta's numbers are down, and he's staying very positive about it.
But as a guy who's there.
With the defense every single week, what do you need to see from the Vikings' offense to keep this whole machine going?
At the end of the day, our turnover differential is our key. Our football philosophy, all about the ball, is the first thing. So if we play complementary football that way, I think we give ourselves a great chance. On the defensive side, we preach keeping the score down, Being great in the red zone, those situational downs, third down, two minute red zone, end of the game. You know, if we're good in those, we can keep the score down and the offense don't turn the ball over with those guys.
We got on that side of the ball. They're going to put up points. So, you know, the things we do as a team playing complimentary football, our special teams being one of the best units in the league. I think it's very sustainable as a team.
Josh, you got yourselves a hell of a matchup, though. A huge test coming up this weekend. It's going to be interdivisional. It's the Lions, and they got an awesome offense this year. So when you're going up, Against an offense like that, that is elite, just like your defense is elite. You got Jameer, you got Amonrod, Jamison, Goff.
You got studs at every level.
Laporta. Like, what do you guys do?
What's the mindset going into a game where you know you've got a high-powered offense and you've got to shut down?
The mindset is the same.
Obviously, we're a little bit more juiced knowing what's at stake, knowing the guys we're going up against. But at the end of the day, we want to be the best defense in the league. And to be the best, you got to beat the best. And we're going up against a great group in the Detroit Lions. They got guys at every level. And we're excited because, you know, we play this brand of football where, you know, we're ready to meet you in the parking lot. So, you know, we're going to be there ready on Sunday the minute we wake up and we're ready for a battle.
And you were ready way back in week two josh at soldier field in the rain you guys tuned up that ben johnson caleb williams offense held him to three points and then it got really weird i've seen some pictures online already of people who are being caleb williams for halloween and it's the towel over his head it's like sitting down on the card i did it myself you were there like take us back to what you remember about that moment and then in the aftermath of what the internet did with it when it turned out that actually he wasn't injured that badly Yeah.
At the end of the day, you know, as a player, you know, I'm running him down, you know, trying to stop him from scoring a touchdown. You see a guy go down. Anytime you see a guy hurt on the football field, you know, you you're praying, you know, you're hopeful that he's going to be able to get back on the field because this game. is tough on our bodies. But, you know, at the end of the day, he was good.
You know, the Internet is going to do what they want with these memes. You know, he's a big personality guy. So people are going to, you know, take what they will with, you know, the things that he do. But I'm just happy, you know, he's back on the field and we're going to get a chance to play him again.
Josh, we love you on the show when you come on the breakfast table, but also because you've taken some of your media skills that you've learned here when you've been on GMFB, and you've gone forth into the universe with them. You have a little segment that you do for the team called Tell Us with Metellus.
Do your teammates run from you? Do they flee from you when they see you with the mini mic?
How does this actually go down in the locker room?
Yeah, they actually do. They do flee from me, but I'm persistent, and I'm fast, so. You can't run too long, the locker room's only so big and I've been here longer than most guys, so I know my way around better than you do. So you can't run too many weeks without getting on Tellus & Metellus. So there's some requests from some family members. I've had mothers, grandmothers, get my grandson, my son on the show.
I have to do it.
Yeah.
Well, 100% blitz rate for Josh Metellus finding you in the locker room, I guess.
Josh, thank you so much. Good luck against the Lions this weekend. Happy Halloween.
Happy Halloween, brother. Thank you.
Happy Halloween.
Appreciate you. Absolutely.
Take them down.
Welcome back to Good Morning Football.
Happy Halloween.
I'm changing jerseys. We all are every single segment. I went with Dion on the Cowboys last segment. So Cowboys back to back. This is pretty cool. Micah Parsons jersey. Or is it?
Can I ask you a question? Can you take me higher?
I got the staff.
Yeah, baby.
Let's go.
I got the Scott staff halftime. Roll the videotape. Oh, I'm so excited to.
Be wearing this.
So let's go then. Let's make our escape. Come on, let's go then. Let's suss, can we stay?
Yeah.
What do you guys got?
I'm gonna wear this for the rest of my life.
Go ahead, Us.
Go ahead. Man, I got the goat, Mongo. My hair might be blocking it. Yeah, there you go.
Steve Mongo, McMichael, baby, that's right.
I love Mongo.
That's right.
I got the puka. But guess what, KB? I'm gonna test you right now.
If I am not, look at KB, KB, look at, turn.
Around, turn around.
If I'm not on Tuesday, buddy.
Let's go.
Hey man, I'm not on Tuesday. Let's go!
