Good Morning Football is a production of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.
And they blitz all night.
Welcome to Good Morning Football, presented by Old Trapper Beef Jerky.
Happy Halloween, everybody. Day before.
I'm Jamie Erdahl. Here's Mance Iteo. There's Seth Rollins. There's Kyle Brandt. Everyone on this show is wearing pads today, football pads, and they are dressing up as football players. I myself am the Fiery embodiment of the Minnesota Vikings defense in 2026. They have many a takeaway based off of blitz. They blitz with their hair on fire and they bring the hammer every time they play somebody. Brian Flores, thank you very much for the gift that is this Vikings defense this season.
Kyle Brandt, what you got today?
I'm the fiery embodiment of a ninth-round pick out of Northwestern and the greatest special teams player to ever live.
Steve Bleepin Tasker, Western.
New York, let's go. Hell yes. Look at him lined up. He's going to level you right there. He's got those arms down. He's got the sleeves. Western New York pride. Steve Tasker, still an incredible member of that organization. Love you, Steve. Always will. Proud to represent this jersey here on a Friday morning.
I am Terrell Suggs. There was a time where you talk about literal fire. He would come out of the tunnel, and then he'd go like this, and all the flames on the side of the tunnel would come up. Terrell Suggs, back in the day when defense was defense, him, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed.
That is me. He sizzled.
A big burn it down for him, I think.
Yes, yes.
I'm staying in Western New York. I got Ed Oliver. I'm trying to be as defensive tackle as I possibly can. It's working.
It's hard.
It's hard to be so big. I don't know how they, how do you guys do it, man?
And they move so fast.
Yeah, so strong, so fast, so scary.
I love it.
Well, you're wearing, these guys are wearing this because we're going to talk about this game this weekend. So let's get through the highlight, Kyle. What happened last night in Green Bay? Packers, Panthers with a lot of desperation in their division on the line.
What you got?
Yeah, theatrical nights, beautiful nights, fun to watch TV last night. And then we had just the surprise injection of what?
Baseball.
The Meraki Brewers, not a great World Series, but it's because of them, because they were that good. Loved the uniforms, loved the win, loved the season. They dominated from start to finish, and they showed up in Lambeau to do the leap. Jordan Love, down 3-0 very early, though, goes to Christian Watson.
Who was just all over the place.
Most importantly, you're going to see a lot of theatrics, but that's his 12th catch of over 20 yards. Only JSN has more, and JSN is an Avenger. Next, touchdown Tucker Craft. This looks pretty good here, but when you see the reverse angle of it from the rear, watch the throw that Love makes. That's a fastball. If the Brewers in town, that is a fastball over the outside corner going about 101 miles per hour. Second quarter, let's move ahead. First and 10, Jordan Love. Going deep. Going to Mr.
Rodney.
Mr. Christian Watson. That is his third catch of 50-plus yards in the season, but why is he down? Well, he banged up his ribs, and there's a lot that goes into rib injuries. They're extremely painful, and the reason you have ribs is to protect your internal organs. So Josh Jacobs is going to score, but we don't know where Watson is, and you're hearing reports of coughing up blood.
That's bad. That means one of your ribs might have punctured something in there that you need to live. So he gets in the back of an ambulance, and he's gone. And we just wish him the best, and we're never going to see him tonight.
Or are we? You know what we're going to see?
I guarantee it. We are going to see Tyron Hopper, who hops right up in the air after he gets his giant paw in it and gets his own deflection for the interception. Just absolutely beautiful play. Shades of a Julius Peppers who played for both of these teams. Jordan Love going deep.
Got it.
Matthew Golden. I'm starting to warm up to that zero. I don't usually like the zero, but it looks good on him. It just works. It's symmetrical. It looks good. 20 to 10. Zero is what the Panthers were doing on offense after a decent start. Love again.
Josh Jacobs. Touchdown.
That's a ridiculous-looking celebration that everyone thinks is doing a perp walk.
He explained, no, that's not it.
I don't know. We'll talk about that. More importantly. Watson's back.
Back.
Not from, like, they had to check him out in the tent. Not, like, they iced him for a second. No, he's back in the game. And he's back in the game after getting out of an ambulance. And they try to get him involved, but this one has actually ended up intercepted by Wheatley. And it's a good-looking rookie from Penn State. So, Panthers, you need to get in this game.
You're down two touchdowns. And Bryce Young says, yes, I'm going to my guy Chubba. Not Chubba, I remember people calling him Chubba when he first blew up.
No, Chubba.
Granted, it's a highly unusual first name, but it's a cool one. Bryce Young finished 209 yards, one touchdown, one interception. Four plays later on a fourth and three. Bryce over the middle. The coker who breaks tackles. And it's like, oh, my God, the Panthers are going to keep pounding. They're going to steal this thing. They do go for two points and fail, but they're down eight. That's still just one score. Then they get the ball back. Fourth and five.
Less than three minutes. Got to have it. He goes over the middle to McMillan, who had a very quiet night. It's incomplete. Carolina turns it over on downs. And on the third and two, when they can put the game away, out of the ambulance, Watson! It's absolutely incredible. I feel like... I wish I could have been Christian Watson for Halloween this morning. I don't have a Christian Watson jersey. I feel like everyone would have been Watson. It, like, fits into the Halloween, rising from the dead, that type of thing.
And there he goes. Watson, look at the stat line. Eight catches, 113 yards, two trips in an ambulance, and one win. Let's hear from the quarterbacks in this one. Just.
executed today from the get-go was so much better than obviously we did last time we played a Thursday game so um you know that's what it's got to be about in a short week you got to be able to execute focus you know lock into the game plan that we have and uh we did a great job of that and you know now you get to enjoy it you get to uh have you know a couple days off be able to get your body back right um and you know get back rolling we.
Just got to finish better um that's what we hang our hat on that's our calling card and we didn't get that done today that's not acceptable um We fought. It was very, you know, it was ugly, and defense stepped up, gave us a shot. Special teams in the same way. Again, we have to finish.
That's all it's about.
All right, Packers win. They look better after a Thursday night. They're still in a very challenging division, and they have to move forth and watch the rest of them play this weekend, as we do as well for the rest of the games on Sunday. Let's look at Bills-Ravens, spicy little game that we're gifted in Week 8. As Lamar Jackson is expected to play after missing the last three games, the high ankle sprain, full participant in practice this week.
On the other side, DJ Moore was still limited in practice for the Bills, and yesterday a lot more information.
Came out about this matchup.
Specifically, KB went on a little trip that I'm sure we'll hear about eventually. But Manti, I look to you for keys to victory in this matchup.
Yeah, I don't know if you guys ever saw Avengers Endgame. So the Avengers Endgame is like a three hour movie, but it's really that last battle that everybody kind of, if you watched it before, you kind of fast forward to that last battle. When I'm thinking about the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens, The first three quarters of football is like we kind of know what we're going to get. It's the fourth quarter where kind of everything falls apart. So it's like fast forward to the fourth quarter.
What defense is going to stand up? What defense is going to play big boy football? Because right now the Buffalo Bills defense in the fourth quarter is giving up the most points in the NFL.
And guess who's second to them? The Baltimore Ravens.
And so when you have somebody like Josh Allen for the Buffalo Bills offensively, Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry offensively for the Baltimore Ravens, it's which one of these defenses is going to get a key stop, or in other words, multiple stops.
That's what we need in the fourth quarter.
And so that's what I'm going to be looking for, Seth, is we know what we're going to get three quarters, but can you be in the game in the fourth quarter, or can you stay in the game or keep a lead in the fourth quarter? That's going to show a lot about what the Buffalo Bills are coming off a bye and the Baltimore Ravens coming off a game where you have Jesse Minter questioning, man, we need some leadership.
I don't know where that leadership is coming from, but we need some. I think this is a great opportunity for the Baltimore Ravens to respond.
This is going to be a really interesting game. I mean, I think you got, you know, it's the quarterback matchup that everybody's looking at. And you got two guys. You got a Josh Allen. You got a Lamar Jackson who looks like he's going to play. Is he full strength? We don't know. These are like one-man show type guys, right?
They can do everything. They can run. They can pass. The offense runs through them. And that's all well and good. But somebody else is going to have to make a play. So I'm really looking at the running games for these guys. I'm looking at a Derrick Henry. I'm looking at a James Cook. I'm wondering who's going to kind of be the bell cow here. and who's going to set the tone, who's going to make things physical on the offensive side of the ball to make things difficult for the other defense.
Because when that play action starts coming in for either of these guys, that's when these offenses are very, very, very dangerous. So I'm kind of looking to see which one of these running backs is going to step up, have a huge game, and sort of make the difference. Because, like I said, it's one-man show at the quarterback, and these guys can go, and we know that. But the defenses know that as well, and they're going to focus in on these quarterbacks Somebody else on the offense, and I'm looking for the running back to try to make a play here, KB, and have a big game, get one of these teams kind of over the hump. I mean, the Ravens are in a tough division, man. They're playing catch-up to the Cleveland Browns, which I can't believe we're
saying at this point in the season. You know, Buffalo's got the lead there in the East, but England's nipping. They're coming, man. They want that division, so it's going to be a very interesting matchup.
Couldn't agree with you more. I need a big Derrick Henry game if you're a Ravens fan. Listen, the last couple of games for him, he has not been explosive. He has not been productive. It just doesn't look like Derrick Henry. Now, maybe that changes when Lamar gets out there, but more importantly in the context, Derrick Henry is a Buffalo Bills killer. You look up his history against the Bills, Baltimore with the Titans. I mean, I remember when he threw Josh Norman into the 10th row of the stadium when he was playing for the Titans. This goes back years, years, and you need to have a big Derrick Henry game.
The Lamar thing is fascinating. He's been out for a month or something like that, and he sees them lose to Cincinnati last week in a terrible fashion. It's taking a lot of crap. There's a lot of mystery. People taking shots. He played through it. How hurt is he? It's the Lamar deal where he's mercurial, and that's part of what makes him interesting. You thought maybe you might have seen him last week. There were reports that his own team was surprised he didn't play, and then they came back and said, no, we weren't surprised. It was a bunch of word salad. superstar quarterback to superstar quarterback things.
If he was hurt, I totally respect it. But now you're going into Buffalo against one of your peers, Josh Allen, and they're a better team and you're not playing really well as a team right now. Huge, huge high stakes in this. I don't think Baltimore can win without a big Derrick Henry game. But if they were waiting on Lamar to be Lamar and he's fresh and he's ready, he has a chance to pull this out of his hat.
I just think in Buffalo, new stadium, out for blood. I think Buffalo's the favorite in this one unless Derrick Henry goes nuts.
Mm-hmm.
I mean, Kyle, we were without you yesterday on GMFB. And now I need an explanation as to why. And who'd you talk to? And what'd you eat?
And all that jazz.
I ate everything. I gained 12 pounds. That's what I do every time I go to Western New York. Very simply, last year, it was a fantastic game. It was week one, Ravens at Bills. And the Bills were down, and it looked like they were going to lose. And a lot of the Bills fans left.
They left.
Crazy comeback, including a massive Derrick Henry fumble.
Bills win.
And after the game, Josh Allen's talking to Melissa Stark and he says, you know, I know a lot of the fans left here tonight. Have a little faith next time. And it was a little salty from Josh. He doesn't usually do that. So yesterday for ESPN and NFL Network, I sat down with some of the actual fans who left.
the game like we found some of them and we had a little support group and talked about why they did it and the concept of faith and belief in josh allen and they responded to josh who told them have a little faith next time and that will air sunday on this work and this network and espn but the people were always great i had 50 wings i'd be fun whack i had a two beard lunch that was irresponsible on a thursday this is ridiculous but that's what you do when you're there.
I saw the picture.
Yeah, you put the selfie up with the airplane going to Buffalo.
You got to explain yourself where you went. Why were you so looking forward to that?
All right, the Colts, speaking of, we missed you because there was big-time news that emerged yesterday. Of course, the Titans-Bears trade went down, but also the Colts traded away two key pieces of their roster earlier this week. in the form of Quentin Nelson and DeForest Buckner. Now, Jonathan Taylor's name continues to be mentioned and floated to possible destinations outside of Indianapolis. So he addressed these rumors and said he hopes they aren't true.
I haven't heard anything and I can't control that. Obviously, like you guys know that I'm always proud to wear the horseshoe, proud to be here. And similar to Quentin and Buck, they were proud to wear the horseshoe. They were proud to be here. But obviously, circumstances may cause otherwise. So Hopefully that day may not come, but I can't control that. The only thing I can control is rallying these guys in the locker room, helping us put together a great plan and executing a great plan for Jacksonville because, like I said, it's a division game. They're licking their chops right now. They think they're going to kick us while we're down, and that has to be the point of emphasis.
All right, we need more intel on this.
Ian Rappaport, welcome back inside GMFB. Our insider with us today, two-part question for you. We'll begin with the abnormal amount, the front load of the trade deadline, which is not until November 10th, but we've.
Seen a lot of names dealt already.
Is there a reason why this business is being conducted this way this early? And is there anyone else that we need to be aware of while we are wearing our costumes today on the Friday before week eight?
Well, let's start with the first part as far as why deals are happening right now. Basically, the NFL now has an environment, and really it started, I would say, a couple years ago when there started to be a lot of general manager turnover. The GMs got a little younger, a little more aggressive, it seems, and a little more open to doing deals, knowing that criticism would come if it didn't work, and they were okay with that because they could just do another deal. You know, being risk-averse...
stopped being trendy and being able to take on risks started to be the way to do business. So what happened was we got to a place where every big name is basically discussed, right? And so if Jeffrey Simmons can get traded, if Jeffrey Simmons, who signed the deal putting him in Tennessee for life before the season, can.
Get traded, then anyone could get traded.
And once you start the conversation, if you're a team, let's say you're Seattle and you want to trade for Quinn Nelson, right?
It's like, okay, you have talks, you have talks.
You're playing Monday night.
If you're talking about a trade, you'd like him on the field. And so the reason these deals happen is because teams want the player. like if you're 49ers a little different because they were on a buy but if you're Seattle like that's the urgency you want the player who you want to trade for to play for you and that's why going back to the Jonathan Taylor thing there have been a lot of discussions centered around Jonathan Taylor at this point I know that the ownership in Indianapolis views him as someone who is part of the rebuild but I also know the teams are going to start calling and at some point Similar to Jeffrey Simmons, there is a price. We don't know if anyone's going to get to that price, but there is a price
because there's always a price. And even though Jonathan Taylor signed a contract extension with Indy before the season that everyone thought would be maybe his last contract he signed with Indy or at least one of the last he'd be able to retire there, that's not.
The environment we live in anymore. We live in an.
Environment where anyone could get traded.
At any moment.
Exactly right, Rapsheet, and thank you for all that information ahead of what hopefully is an even more thrilling trade deadline before November 10th. Talk to you in a little bit. Kyle, as you mentioned, you were on the move yesterday having an irresponsible two beers lunch, but we were wondering what you were thinking when the Bears went out and made a move for Jeffrey Simmons and had to send two first-round picks and a fourth-round pick to the Titans.
What'd you make of this yesterday?
I think the most common reaction was, wow, Simmons is an awesome player. Holy crap. What did they spend for him? That's fine. They spent more of what they had to spend for him. I saw the question post. Let's say you're a Packers fan. Are you more thinking about, oh, crap, we have to play this guy this year. This is bad.
Or.
This is actually good because the Bears just weakened themselves over the next couple of years by getting rid of your picks. That's ridiculous. The answer is definitely, oh, crap, we have to play this guy this year. Draft picks, who gives a damn? Draft picks, as you know, are pixie dust. Half of them don't work out, especially the Bears' first-round picks, which are going to be late first-round picks, if not the 32nd pick in the whole draft. They got him! You let the Bears get him. Do you understand how good he is? How destructive he is? How disruptive he is? Especially if you really want to get into it if you're a Packers fan. They know that the weakest part of their offensive line, if not their team,
is the interior line. The Packers are not great at center and guard. They have to go against that monster, 98, with the red sleeves, which I assume now will be orange sleeves, who is incredibly disruptive, dominant, all of the things you want. The Bears are many things. They are not idiots. They knew how much they just spent. And the plan is not to get to the divisional or the wildcard. The plan is Caleb is on a rookie contract.
He's gonna be about 3 billion when we extend him. Let's win the Super Bowl this year. Go get us a defensive tackle. I don't care what it costs. And it's the right plan. This is me.
This is me right here. This is me taking my victory lap. This is amazing. I literally just left the studio yesterday. When this news broke, and so I'm so excited we get an opportunity to talk about it a little bit. Anybody, I'm with you, KB, anybody who says this is a bad deal or they gave up too much does not know Ball. This is the most dominant defensive player in the NFL, and I know we sleep on him because he's in Tennessee, and they've been struggling year after year after year. This dude is a game wrecker.
On passing downs, he is elite for a defensive tackle. On running plays, he will plug up every single back that comes at you. Nobody on any of the other teams wants to line up opposite Jeffrey Simmons, and now he's in a Chicago Bears uniform. This changes the entire dynamic of their defense and what Dennis Allen wants to do. Look, they were struggling defensively, but they were making it happen.
A lot of people... We're thinking their defense is going to be really bad this year. They've kind of been in the middle of the pack. Some good games, some bad games. I mean, this is going to change everything for them. If you can get interior pressure on a quarterback, it changes everything that they have to do, especially for some of those less mobile quarterbacks, like maybe a Jared Goff or a Jordan Love. Just saying. Just saying.
Maybe it's the orange hair that I'm wearing, but it's a Monday night football game this weekend. Can he not just put the Bears jersey on and go out there and be a game breaker?
Go straight, Jeffrey.
Can he play?
Go straight.
Right?
He's got to play.
You just plug in.
He can tackle. You just plug him in. Just get him some orange sleeves.
Go.
Plug and play.
Push the boys around, dog. And go to Seattle.
And destroy Sam Darnold's life.
No, no, no.
That's traumatic.
I'll be there.
He should be there, too.
You're not a spirit, James.
Yeah, exactly. This is what it is.
Bears-Seahawks happening Monday night, 8 p.m. Eastern is your kick. ESPN, ESPN app. Those are your options to watch. It's a family of networks. It's a family-friendly show here, except when we talk about game records like Jeffrey Simmons and the Bears now. Nightmare material for the rest of the North.
The Bears.
Moving on on GMFB, we still got a handful of games to look at in Week 8.
It's Round 2 of Mad Minute.
Kyle, and then we get to play another spooky game we like to do on Fridays on GMFB.
Yeah, we get to go to Dave & Buster's and slide the card for $ 5, 000 a slide. And we get to pull a toy out. It's the Claw Game. What is the one player we want to pull out of the toys who we think is going to be the coolest toy of the weekend and completely go off on the field? Don't go anywhere. Claw Droppers is next.
Good morning, football.
Broadway knows nothing on us.
We got major costume changes happening on GMFE this Friday before Halloween. Kyle Brandt checking in on Buffalo Bill's Basement.
What you got?
From the University of Notre Dame by way of Detroit, Michigan, a Hall of Famer, a Super Bowl champion, and one of my favorite college football players of all time.
The bus.
Everybody on the bus. He made it cool to have a big old belly. and run the football like a grown adult man. I love Jerome Bettis. I represent him every single day, but today with the jersey on number 36 for Pittsburgh Steelers by way of the St. Louis Rams, Jerome Bettis.
Love you, my man.
Very good.
Very good.
Jerome Bettis, also untackleable in Tecmo Bowl.
Nice.
You could not bring Jerome Bettis.
That is impossible.
Kyle, Seth is wearing a Gino Atkins jersey.
That's right, Gino Atkins. Yeah, another DT.
And Julio.
And Julio.
Exactly.
Talk about untalkable. This was this dude right here.
Yeah, that's true. That's true.
Gino could have tackled him.
Let's find the cheat code for claw droppers, shall we, on GMFE. used to drop the quarter in and now I guess we swipe the credit card and you get your kid like 20 turns on claw droppers and mostly you lose this game but Manti we think we're very good at this game so why don't you give it a little whirl and see what player you pull out of the claw dropper.
Let's do it let's do it let's drop this claw we're.
Gonna go get this machine working come on Give me, yeah.
As you can see guys, there is a relation to the jersey I'm wearing and that guy that I just pull out of this called Michael Penix. This offense before Michael Penix was averaging eight points per game with Michael Penix 31. This is the prize that you wanna get out of there. This is the prize that when you go over there and you're the offense you wanted to pull out because ever since you pulled this guy out of the box.
Your offense has looked great.
Michael Penix has played four games, has at least one passing.
Touchdown, zero interceptions. This is what you want from your quarterback. Give it to B.
John Robinson, give it to Kyle Pitts, and give it to Drake London, and good things happen. But they're going against Todd Bowles in that defense who over the past three weeks has been playing phenomenally. So we're gonna see how this goes down over there.
Gonna be a test.
With Atlanta Falcons.
It's gonna be a test, man. Come on, Gino. Let's drop a claw, baby.
Let's go. Drop it down, pick it up.
What do we got? What do we got?
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
You know, you know.
Would you look at that?
Would you look at that? Oh, Joey B, of course. I mean, look, they're playing the Titans.
Yeah.
And they're playing more specifically a Jeffrey Simmons-esque. Titans team you saw what Joey B did in the second half against the Ravens defense and Kyle Hamilton Roquan and that crew I know Roquan got hurt but still he put up numbers like me playing Madden touchdown touchdown touchdown touchdown you can't stop me I'm not on all Madden I'm on all pro I can dominate you that was him all right and now he's going up against the Titans no Jeffrey Simmons No interior pressure. Dude, he's going to be back there slinging the rock. Jamar is going to be all day, all night. He's going to have a big day. Maybe he'll break the NFL record for touchdowns in the game.
Oh, Lord, he did.
I'm just saying.
What kind of Titans team are we getting here?
I don't even know.
I have no idea. It hasn't looked good so far. They get rid of their best player.
Oh, man.
God help them.
You put on that Gino Atkins jersey and you can become a different person.
Yes. You know what? Gino fires me up, man.
Being in these VTs.
Really gets me, you know what I mean? It gets me just feeling for myself, you know?
It's good.
You know sometimes you drop that claw in this game and you're going for one thing and then it zags and you mix up a different squishy and you're like, let's see what I get here when I play Claw Droppers, huh?
Because in my hand, I hold a lot of notes.
And I have a lot of positive notes about how well this man, Jared Goff, has been playing. And I'd like to set these notes on fire, but my hair is flammable, so I can't do that. So instead, I will tell you that Jared Goff isn't playing out of his mind for this Lions offense.
This is my points to.
Palooza team for 2026.
And you know why.
It's all the weapons that you see in the prolific highlights from these games. But also the fact that this guy doesn't turn the ball over. 14 passing TDs so far this season goes up against zero interceptions. The problem is... He's going up against a defense that blitzes with their hair on fire and a Brian Flores maniac that likes to send guys at all time. And when you send guys, your feet get a little jumpy and you start to make decisions that maybe you don't want to do. And the fact that the Vikings constantly blitz guys and force turnovers, force takeaways. This is my favorite game of the weekend.
Jared Goff, look out.
I love watching you play, but you were sacked five times in both. games that you played against the Vikings defense last season. That's 10 total times this defense.
Took you down. Ooh, that's stuffy. I'm going to take it out of the game. Whip his head off.
Just kidding.
Kyle, go ahead.
Fantastic game, and I just want to say in the spirit of being original, there is no one in the world today who is wearing a Geno Atkins jersey. Not no Bengals fan, Geno Atkins himself, or any member of his family. It is only Seth freaking Rollins. Of all the jerseys, Geno Atkins. It's so original, and it works for you.
My man.
I'm a big Geno guy. I don't doubt it for a second. Yes, cuz he'd have to hand pick it, no one else would. All right, we gotta put extra torque in the crane because this is a really heavy one on the claw. Pull it up, pull it up, it's a big heavy lift for this one. Get him up here, all right, here's the deal. I said it earlier, this man doesn't go off against Buffalo, the Ravens are not winning. And more importantly, this is interesting, guys. Derrick Henry is looking to become eighth on the all-time rushing leader list. He needs 66 yards to go from ninth to eighth. You know who he would pass if he goes to eighth? He would pass this guy. He would pass the bus.
Good, Kyle.
A stealer.
Excellent.
Getting passed by a Raven, similar style, big dudes in their own time. I said this again. I don't know what we're getting from Lamar. I'm sure he'll be pretty good. But at Buffalo, against that Josh Allen machine, 22 for the Ravens is a Bills killer. And he can also be a stealer in the same time if he passes the bus.
I'm proud of you guys. You made great jersey picks.
The collection is working, and the segments are flying off the shelf here on GMFB the.
Day before Halloween.
The Dallas Cowboys are the real treat for us to start off the week as we all witness what went down on Monday night in Philadelphia. Now they'll take on the Cardinals in week eight. For more on Dallas, of course, we've got to welcome in Jane Slater to the show. Jane, happy day before Halloween. Are you dressing up tomorrow?
No, I am working a very, very long early morning shift on Sunday, so it is nothing but work.
All work, no play makes a doldold Jane.
Oh, dull, dull Jane. No, get fired up for the Cowboys.
Jane, because they showed some defensive improvement against the Philadelphia Eagles over the weekend. So how do we finally get here with this Cowboys group that so desperately needed change and to become a consistent force? So how can they build ahead of this weekend?
You know, it's interesting when you look at this one, you've got like this two and five team in Arizona, but you talk to the players and they'll say it doesn't really indicate who they are. And when you look at this Cowboys defense, you have to ask yourself, did they figure things out in Philadelphia or was that one of those outliers? Here's the breakdown of these two teams.
You saw that right there. Jacoby Reset, he gets the ball out quickly.
In Arizona, really, they're comfortable taking short gains and sustaining those 10 or 12-play drives. And it was defensive coordinator Christian Parker who told me the Cardinals, they don't get overly greedy and hurt themselves when it comes to trying to create those explosive plays. And so the concern for Dallas' defense is... You know, they struggled to get off the field, Jamie, particularly on third and long. And Parker said it's an area he needs to improve specifically in his play calling in those situations.
But you talked about it.
Some encouraging signs. We've got Ricky Shamar James. He's taken over the green dot. Elijah Clark getting more opportunities at safety.
And you got Quinn and Williams. He's kind of finding his rhythm.
And when I talked to Williams yesterday, he told me the criticism it's deserved and they can't afford to wait until halftime to execute.
And. It's interesting. Parker knows that, too.
He told us he said he's even adjusted this week's preparation to just address those slow starts.
So against Brissette, it's not about generating those pressures.
It's really for them just getting off the field and really playing for complete quarters.
I bet.
And after rushing for 200 plus yards against the Eagles, the Cowboys must be so pleased with that output. They want to make their ground game much more consistent part of their offense. So what is Arizona saying and how they're going to try to combat that?
You know, if you look at the way they were playing when Javante Williams got those 155 yards, it's because the Cowboys sent in six offensive linemen.
So they went in with a jumbo package to really help him out.
Now, they say they can't do that necessarily every single week. But when I talked to Cardinals, Mack Wilson, he compared Williams to a bowling ball because of his contact balance, how difficult he is to tackle up high.
And, you know, the one thing is Mack says yes.
They've seen it on tape where they've got this tendency to put in the six guys if they want to do the run plays. They did it on nine of them last week. But he said he fully expects them to kind of change it up. You know, they might run it twice with six guys that.
Hit you with the passing play. And really, that's sort of the balance that Clayton Adams wants.
Adams told me an effective running game makes the entire team better, but he doesn't want this offense defined.
By one style, and it will... Week to week depend on the matchups and the opponent.
So, look, the goal right now isn't necessarily about repeating 240 rushing yards against Philadelphia, but they want to be able to at least have that in their bag, an ability for them to at least have a multifaceted offense. And what's crazy about this thing is Stevie Lamb says in the four times that he's played the Cardinals, He hasn't gotten a win yet. I mean, we're talking about the Cardinals, and I'm not saying that we should overlook the Cardinals or underestimate them ever, but in the four times that CeeDee Lamb has played him, he said that they have never won, and he says the reason why he thinks that is.
Is that they always come out with more energy. So... Going to be an interesting one on Sunday.
Yeah, let's hope that doesn't happen for the Cowboys at home, nonetheless. But, Jane, you're right.
I was looking at those logos, and I'm like, why is my brain going to the fact that, as of late, this has been an all-Cardinal series?
Thank you, C.D. Lamb, for confirming that.
Jane Slater, appreciate the prep, as always, and the dedication to the cause to be so well-read on this matchup come Sunday morning.
We'll talk to you in a little bit. Happy Halloween.

You've seen us this month wearing our crucial catch pins, and that is because the fight against cancer is ever so important.
Cancer affects children, and it really shouldn't.
But the fight against pediatric cancer extends far beyond hospitals and research labs. It takes entire communities stepping up for children and families facing unimaginable challenges. Inspired by the legendary Hoggetts, this new group of Commander Superfans have become a lifeline for children fighting cancer.
We just wanted to kind of bring that face of the fan back. We knew that if we were going to do this, we had to do it right. We would do fundraisers, raising money for children and their families going through pediatric cancer.
Farmers, thank you for the hats, the piggies, and the piggies.
What's it like as a parent seeing people who aren't related to him show up for him in a major way? That's a really good term, like showing up for him, because that's exactly what they've done.
You good?
I like your outfit. These are kids.
They shouldn't have to go through this.
To experience the full story, tune in to Game Day Morning this Sunday on NFL Network. And thank you for all those who shared. Together, we can all make a difference.
Happy Halloween, everybody.
Good morning, football.
Fun little GMFB the day before Halloween.
Mostly because I know what these two guys are dressed up as every time we come back from commercial, but Kyle's the ultimate surprise. So, KB, where are you at in your jersey collection?
Number two overall pick, don't apologize for it. My guy, Zach Wilson. And you might be saying, you guys, they can't be all Hall of Famers, right?
All right?
They can't all be Hall of Famers. I always do it the wrong way. And you might be sitting at home like, dude, why do you have a Zach Wilson Jets jersey? The answer is obvious.
I don't know.
I have no idea. I have a random jersey collection. I don't know how it gets in there. I don't have an answer for you. But it's almost like that Charles Barkley, who he played for. You at home right now, could you immediately name what team Zach Wilson is on, number two overall pick?
Isn't he one of the Broncos backs up?
He's not the Saints. Wait, he plays still?
He's still in the league. Who do you fight for, Jamie? You could be our Barkley.
Yeah, he played for the Dolphins. I did have a conversation with him when he was on the Dolphins. And then I think he was in that Broncos room, and now he's with the Saints.
Well, good for Zach.
Hang on. Hang on, buddy. You got it.
Shame on you for not having all single one of his stops, Kyle.
Okay?
I do.
I know.
That Barkley segment is legendary. Shout out to Inside the NBA. Okay, moving on. Chiefs, Broncos, Kyle, why don't you start us off? 60 seconds on the clock. We're playing Mad Minute once again. You think this is going to be a repeat performance of Monday Night Football week one?
No, I think week one is a liar, Jamie. You know that as well as anybody. It was a very strange game. The Chiefs destroyed them. I'm looking at Nix. What do you got? His stock was really low, and he was getting hammered, and then he came last week. We had that long rushing touchdown and seemed to play better, but this is the boogeyman. This is why you were drafted, Bo Nix, to win this game. You're at home. You're against the Chiefs. I need a big Bo Nix game.
It's much more interesting if Bo Nix plays well here.
The best thing about last week is the Seattle Seahawks proved how you can beat the Kansas City Chiefs, and that's beating Kenneth Walker.
The problem is.
The Denver Broncos rush defense isn't so good. I think they're like 28th in the league right now. So unless they stop Kenneth Walker, good luck stopping number 15. I think he's 14-2 against the Denver Broncos in his career. The positive thing is those two losses came in Denver. So we'll see if he'll get the third or if he'll get the 15th win.
I don't think there's any way the Denver Broncos win this football game. I just don't see it happening. I'm sorry, I don't think the Chiefs are going to come in and after they laid an egg last week, I don't think they're going to do it again. I think it is going to be a repeat of week one. I think week one, mostly a liar, not this time. It is right on.
You enjoyed being clipped off by the Carolina Panthers social media team, didn't you, with that proclamation. So now it's going to happen to you with the Broncos.
Try me.
My hair is on fire, and I'm inspired by Brian Flores' defense for the Minnesota Vikings. They have a real test this week in Manti's. They have to go to Detroit as the number one ranked defense and take on Jared Goff, the number two best offense in the NFL right now.
What gives?
Well, Dan Campbell, he has to take that aggressive mentality that he has on fourth out and put it on third down. When Brian Flores brings all those guys to the line of scrimmage, don't max protect. Let Jameer Gibbs run. Let Sam Laporta run and let that rush have to take care of those guys. Because if he does play conservative, which he won't.
Bad things will happen for the Detroit Lions offense, Seth.
This is my game of the week. I mean, it's kind of flying under the radar a little bit, but this is huge. I mean, defense versus offense. I mean, like rocking a hard place.
I don't know.
I don't know how to pick this one. I'm very curious to see if the Vikings can make Jared Goff throw an interception, though. That's what I'm looking for.
Big game. Listen, this is the one I've been waiting for. The game in which the Vikings defense is not in their A game or Flores doesn't call the best game of his career. What happens if the Lions score four touchdowns? What happens if they score five? Or you know what? Given the context of the Vikings, what if they just score three? Does Kyler Murray have it in him to say, I got this. I will have a game-winning drive. I will have an excellent fourth quarter and win with offense when we can't rely on the defense every single week.
I want it so badly. Really good chance this is the week.
Jared Goff's passes for five touchdowns.
I might actually set my hair on fire.
Chargers Rams is happening at SoFi Stadium.
Oh, man.
Strange little game this one has become. Strange little game.
It's a sad game, you know? It's a sad game.
Everybody in L.A.
Was thinking, oh, this could be a potential Super Bowl matchup. We got the super team. We got the Chargers squad. And it just is all fall apart. And I said yesterday, I'm behind Justin Herbert. This is your game, guy. Let's go out and get one. They got to get the first one. Come on. Just get the first one. Please, please show me something.
This is just like one of those when the schedule came out. We're like, awesome, battle for L.A. It's going to be five and two versus, you know, five and one.
Oh, man.
Both of these records are completely shocking, even though the Rams are coming off a win. Can you imagine if the Chargers win this game and they get their first win against the Rams? I don't think it'll happen. Everybody's waiting for the Rams to go on a run. That Cardinals thing was terrible, but they get this one off.
Then we're up at 500. We can actually respect what's going on.
We talk about stakes on this show. There are big stakes in very negative ways for these two teams. You look at the Rams. If they lose this one, it's over. You look at the Chargers. If they lose this one, I think there's going to be a fire sale around the Chargers facility because there's a lot of talk about Cleo McInerney going.
So we'll see what happens.
Every game, actually, we should pick like a fan base that would light their hair on fire if they lost.
Jamie, you're really buying into the hair on fire thing. I love it.
I mean, it's like a personal embodiment of it. I get it.
Kyle, start us off with the Gronk jersey sitting in studio right here. But Patriots are playing the Dolphins this weekend.
What you got?
I love that we're doing Pat's Dolphins. Why not?
Dolphins coming off a win.
All right.
They go, they beat, they beat the zombie jets. They're one in five. This game is mostly about the Patriots just getting rights. I think the Patriots are really going to have a say in this thing. Remember I said, there's a three groups, the ones that count, the ones that won't count and ones we don't know. I think the Patriots are still in the one that counts, but don't slip up and let the Dolphins get high. You should beat this team.
I think Ali Jordan has been playing really, really well. I mean, Devon A-chan went down and he's came in and really filled some shoes. I would say this, Jacob Rodriguez, rookie out of Texas Tech. The guy has taken his ability to take the ball away in college and.
Brought it over to NFL, which is really, really difficult.
Watch out for him, not only this year, but for years to come at the linebacker position, Seth.
There's something about this game that doesn't sit right with me, man. I think on paper, it's like you just think the Patriots are going to run away with it. You know, me and my Gronk jersey. But I don't know. I just feel something. I think Miami has been underperforming all season. They finally got that first win. This is my upset pick.
This is my upset pick for the week. I think Miami might pull it off at home.
Man, that's fantastic.
I just got a feeling.
I don't know.
NFC East.
Man, we're just rifling through these really concerning matchups. NFC East equals Commanders going down in.
Washington, man.
Eagles are rifling through running backs right now. I don't know.
I mean, they elevated Jaden Blue from the practice squad. So I don't know who's going to be suiting up for them. Hopefully, Saquon's healthy. I felt really bad for him when he pulled up with that injury. I mean, it was his back, not his hamstring. But you look at a guy who's really invested a lot into this game, and you just want to see something good happen for him.
Tanner McKee, let's go, buddy.
That's all I could really say about this matchup, Seth.
Dude.
I'll tell you what, you look at those records at the bottom of the screen, it's 1-4-1, awful, ugly record. But then you've got this, you know, 2-5, and I go, neither of these teams are out of the playoff race in this division because nobody's scared of the New York football Giants. So this kind of looks like a throwaway, but I'm saying you win this game, the Giants lose, and we're talking, oh, they're right back in the mix.
I mean, that's how bad this division could be.
This is a Sunday night game, guys. Like, where the hell is the flex? We need to adjust our flex policies if we're getting this on a Sunday night. This thing makes Chargers-Rams look like the Super Bowl. I'd like to see the Commanders win because at least they have their starting quarterback, I think.
Kyle, will this be the first time ever on GMFB we just politely pass the Sunday Night Football highlight to the side and we just lead with something else?
Yeah, maybe.
Unless somebody takes an ambulance to the hospital and comes back and has two more catches. Maybe something like that will happen. I hope not. But maybe something noteworthy goes down. Every single segment of this show, and naturally I end with one of the scariest dudes in the NFL, undrafted out of the University of Maine, Project Pat Ricard. I have the Ravens version of this. Of course, now he is on the New York Giants, blocking for our guy Skadaboo.
And I just love Project Pat so much.
He is a monster.
He's a former two-way player, and he's a great NFL success story. And he goes 300 pounds and plays fullback. Love you, Pat.
Kyle, any chance we get to see your jersey collection, shout out. Well done on the day before Halloween. For the inspiration as well, because these two guys participated in this game today. And this is what it looks like. Kendall, our researcher, was more than researched today.
Well-oiled machine.
Look at that.
Almost got choked out.
You know, we realized, though, that there is a difference between every jersey based on the brand.
Some are more stretchy than others.
The old school ones didn't have as much stretch.
And so the armpits, if you know, you know, kind of get a little.
Raw as you continue to pull these things over your head.
But what a great Halloween.
Day it was for us on this show. Can't wait for next year. Oh, man.
This is great.
Right?
Happy Halloween, KB.
I didn't know you guys filmed during commercial. I do all kinds of terrible stuff.
The camera's always on.
And I just got to sit there.
Good job, boys.
Happy Halloween, everybody.
