Welcome to NFL Report Eagles. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is being shut down for the season. We have the latest on a very scary health situation for the Philly Star. The Rams, they were the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl. The NFL's super team is in last place in the division. Sean McVay said there was, quote, nothing positive about the game.

Hear what else the head coach is saying. And we close out week six with one of the league's perfect teams. I'll tell you how the Niners stay undefeated against the Commanders team, looking to squash the negative chatter about a Week 5 tie. And welcome to a brand new edition.

Of NFL Report. I'm Mike Dam.

Cody Kessler is going to be joining us in just a few moments. We got news on a firing of a general manager.

That's still to come.

But we start with a massive story that is rocking the NFL world. It is part of our latest headlines. An absolutely scary situation. For Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, his season is done after doctors found multiple blood clots in his lungs. Hurts will undergo treatment involving blood thinners that is expected to sideline him for at least three months.

Nick Sirianni spoke to the media today, and the reporters were firing off questions.

Nick, why was Jalen Hurts allowed to fly home despite the team knowing that he had a blood clot?

Again, I'm not a medical expert. Same deal there. We get medical information from our guys, and we always put the player's health first and foremost in every situation. And, you know, that's where we were there.

Were you briefed by the medical team before you did this press conference on why he was permitted to fly despite the blood clot?

Yeah, guys, I talked to them a lot.

Can you give us the information?

I talked to the guys.

As a spokesman of the team, we're just hoping you give us some information for the public.

Thank you.

Guys, I've addressed this. I've talked to you guys about this. Again, the medical experts are there, and I think I've answered this question multiple times.

As that story continues to unfold, especially the timing of knowing when those blood clots were, we got you covered here on NFL Report. A loss to the Windlass Titans. That was the final straw. Colts general manager Chris Ballard's been fired by the team. There were fired Ballard chants in Lucas Oil Stadium yesterday. Assistant general manager at Dodds, who he will take over for the rest of the season.

Here's head coach Shane Steichen on the firing.

When I heard the news today, I talked to Carly, you know, disappointed. Obviously, you got a relationship with Chris, like I said, a phenomenal human, high character, just one of the best people I've ever been around. And as far as I'm concerned with my situation, you know, I'm grateful for every day that I'm in this building. And I'll take that for granted. And I got to get these guys ready for the Vikings.

Well, for a little bit more, not only on Jalen Hurts and that situation, but Chris Ballard's firing. We got you covered. Be sure to check out the NFL Daily podcast. Greg Rosenthal is going to be joined by Charles McDonald, host of The Athletic Live, to break it all down. All right, let's get you caught up on some football that we saw yesterday.

Good to see that, too.

The Iceman back out on the football field. Missed the last three games to Caleb Williams with that hamstring injury.

Here we go. Scoreless early.

Buying some time with his legs. And we got ourselves a touchdown. Loveland in the end zone. He had six grabs, 65 yards. Caleb threw for 305 in this one. A little bit later in a 14-7 game just before halftime, DeAndre Swift, one of his two touchdowns in the game. It is good to see your offense rolling and clicking, especially if you are Ben Johnson. And by the way, there's nothing better than a winning locker room.

I'm happy to be back. It's Bears over everybody. I believe that.

Special teams, defense, my damn O-line, my wide receivers, my running backs, my tight ends, everybody, man.

Y'all are amazing. And obviously, shout out to coaches. My guy. Let's get on to this next.

Week, man.

One, two, three.

For about a half second there, I thought that hoodie was going to come off of Ben Johnson. Meanwhile, Sunday Night Football, Jordan Love, Dak Prescott, two of the better quarterbacks in the NFL, two teams candidly needing a win. And this will help the Green Bay cause love to Matthew Golden.

It's been tearing it up.

Something tells me his name is going to come up on the Fantasy Show Wednesday here on the NFL channel. Dak picked off one of those tough moments for him. This Green Bay defense, by the way, we got some news on Micah Parsons coming up in just a bit, but they were holding their own against one of the more prolific offenses in the NFL. A little bit later in this matchup, Jordan Love on a first and goal, finding his way into the end zone. Packers handling business in primetime. Massive questions around this Cowboys team. All right, meanwhile, we got the Cardinals and a little love there between Matthew Stafford, Michael LaFleur, of course, Coach LaFleur, Rams OC the last three seasons. All right, offensively, this is not

a great showing, but under a minute to go here. Colby Parkinson finds the end zone. Got 47 seconds or so there to adjust that clock. That's still plenty of time. Jacoby Brissett, yeah, I'm talking about a Cardinals offense. That was enough for them to make some moves.

How about this?

Jalen Brooks, who had a drop previously just on the previous possession, but comes back. Tack on another 15 yards. Josh Wallace called for unnecessary roughness, which, by the way, a little bit of a tough call. It almost seemed like incidental contact. But Chad Ryland from 43... That's good. Arizona's defense, much maligned, held the ramps to just 286 yards of total offense. McVay obviously very frustrated when this thing was done.

We won't win a game unless we figure out how not to beat ourselves. You know, just so many unforced errors, so many things that are not in alignment with what we want to do, specifically on the offensive side of the ball. Give up a big return to be able to start, lose the kicker, covering on that kickoff coverage, and that comes out for a big gain.

And so, you know, we didn't do enough.

We have a lot to look at ourselves on, and we have to be able to go back to the drawing board and figure out how we improve because, like I just told you guys, we have to be able to not beat ourselves before we figure out how to even come away with some of the results. It's not even good enough, and I've got to do a much better job. Clearly, there's nothing positive that I can say about today.

All right, to be fair here, and maybe this is not something Rams fans want to hear, they haven't really been fully healthy so far this season. But regardless, it's just getting worse. Mike Garofalo putting this out on social media. Devontae Adams, hamstring injury, out six to ten weeks. You've got to be kidding me, man. And then Kobe Turner, you talk about a guy that can be a game record in that defensive tackle spot. He's headed to IR, and there's been obviously some massive issues in the kicking game.

Blake Ruppe, you heard him, or you watched him get hurt today. trying to make a tackle. I mean, this is a little bit of a head scratcher. Cody Kessler with us right now. You'll catch Cody. He's going to be hanging with me and Nelson Aguilar coming up at the bottom of the hour game day preview. More on the Monday night matchup, Cody, in just a moment. But this is a 2-4 team. This is a team that we talked about being the favorites to go and win the Super Bowl. And here we are, last place in the division. If I'm a Rams fan, if I'm inside that building, how panicked should I be?

Yeah, I'm very worried about the Rams.

When you have a team that has this high of expectations, yet they continue to underachieve week after week. And most importantly, they aren't fixing the issues they have. That's when you become concerned. And that's exactly what's happening right now with the Rams. This offseason, they went out and put together arguably the best roster in the NFL. And I know they've had some injuries, but even with those injuries, they should not be playing as bad as they are right now offensively. They're too predictable. They're too conservative in moments that they need to be aggressive. They lack an identity.

And in my opinion, Sean McVay is just overthinking his play calling right now. It's fourth and one and you hand the ball off to your backup tight end. And then fourth and eight in a critical moment, you throw a screen pass two yards behind the line of scrimmage. I just don't fully understand the thought process there. And then on defense, you're doing too many things wrong, too many missed tackles, some costly penalties. And now back to back weeks, you haven't been able to get a stop when you needed it most. And yeah, that's what really concerns me with the Rams. their inability to finish games this year. Three of their four losses have been by four points, three points and two points. Other teams are

making plays in critical moments and the Rams are not. So I do think it's time to start panicking a little bit if they're the Rams, because if they don't get this figured out quickly, they're going to get left behind in their division.

By the way, speaking of this division, I think back to 2024, they were one in four to start that campaign. They were able to make the postseason. Your gut, are they a playoff team right now?

I want to say yes, because I do believe in Matthew Stafford and the players that they have on their roster. But what I've seen on tape, there's not enough evidence for me to believe that. And now you're adding other injuries on top of that. It's going to take a lot of work. But at the same time, when you have stability and leadership at the most important positions like head coach, like quarterback, you can get a lot of things done.

Hopefully they turn it around quickly.

All right, Cody, more from you in just a moment. We'll also focus in a little bit on that Monday night football matchup. Let's get you caught up on what went down with A.J.

Brown.

Oh, good to see him back, of course. Got hurt in week number one. He's supposed to be a huge focal point of this team's offense. Divisional game against the Jets. Drake May, guy's just offensively just been on a tear in recent weeks. Plenty of time here. Romeo Dobbs, 42-yard touchdown. We gave New England the lead, getting fired up. Dobbs, by the way, really hurt in this game. We got more of that coming up a little bit later, and then it's Geno Smith. He's having himself a pretty good campaign, but boy, you get moments like this, and you're like, ooh, this is the difference between just a good team and one that's trying to get it.

There.

As I referenced, say, gangrene squad. But meanwhile, it is Drake May and company. It's now three consecutive wins. In fact, the two other wins were against these two teams. It was Buffalo and And Vegas, Josh Allen had that huge win against the Rams. They stayed out on the West Coast. Josh, I mean, I'm sitting here on my couch. I'm watching this thing live, and I'm like, only Josh Allen, right? Well, and Patrick Mahomes. But just one of those spectacular plays, a little push pass.

Into the end zone.

Keon Coleman, he just smiling ear to ear after grabbing that touchdown.

Kirk Cousins.

Captain Kirk, man, hanging tough. Trey Tucker, we're all of a sudden tied at 23. There's just a whole lot of this Buffalo Bills offense. The run game, I know there's been some moments where James Cook has coughed up the football, but just keeping those wheels turning. Three-yard touchdown run. Buffalo survives in Vegas as we hear from Josh Allen, a.k.a. Superman, on a spectacular touchdown.

I saw him.

I saw him.

But once it comes out, you know, you kind of get hit and tumble around. And it's so hard in these away games, which feel like home games. Once you hear the crowd go crazy, you're like, I don't know if it's a touchdown. I don't know if it's an interception. So, again, he finds himself in the right place at the right time and finds a way to get open.

Yes, he does.

Keon Coleman a year ago sitting in that doghouse and all of a sudden just continues to find himself in the end zone with the ball in his hands.

But don't look now, Buffalo Bills.

And keep in mind, yeah, they did lose to New England, but these are some impressive wins that this team has had. How good is this team? A little bit later, Scott Hansen is going to be joining us and giving us his take. on this Buffalo squad. His response, by the way, may surprise you. Meanwhile, we got some Monday night football.

The closeout week number six. Good to see this dude ready to go. Jaden Daniels, of course, made his return off that dislocated elbow. Tough return in a week five tie against the New York Giants. George Kittle, just, of course, that's how George rolls up to a football game. Looking forward to this one. We'll get you set on game day preview. Once again, coming up at the bottom of the hour, Cody Kessler will be hanging with me. I'll make my way up to that studio. At some point, Cody Nelson-Agalar, your old teammate and roommate at USC, will be with us as well. But this Niners team, they're obviously super talented. They're undefeated right now. How do we keep the good vibes rolling with a win on Monday night?

Yeah, they keep it rolling by just continuing to do what they've done so far this season. The 49ers are the best team in football right now. They're two-dimensional on offense. They can hurt you both in the pass game and in the run game. Kyle Shanahan is the best offensive play caller right now in all of football. It is so impressive to watch the game plan that he puts together on a week-to-week basis. And on top of that, Brock Purdy is playing at an MVP level right now.

You can't play the quarterback position much better than he has so far this season. And then on the other side of the ball, this defense has been really good so far this year under their new defensive coordinator, Raheem Morris. Their fourth in total defense. They're doing a good job of creating takeaways. Fred Warner's playing at an elite level again, and they're only giving up 18 points per game. There are just not a lot of weaknesses when you look at this 49er football team this is going to be a tough challenge tonight for the commanders offensively they dealt with some injuries so far this year and on the defensive side of the ball the commanders are giving up almost 30 points per game which is dead last in

the NFL I think the 49ers handle business tonight and improve to 6-0 on the season by.

The way if you're a Washington fan and you're listening to Cody like you get what this narrative is going to be it's not all loss right like Washington still does have a win against Seattle who we think is one of the best teams in the NFL so I guess, Cody, that's my way of saying, yeah, there's a chance. But I'm with you. The Niners right now, a potent team.

We got a little bit more on this matchup once again right here on the NFL Channel. I will see you momentarily. Meanwhile, Saints and Giants. So this thing got real ugly from a New York perspective.

Tyler Shuck.

Now, there was some critical comments, Gail Benson, about this team and what they could bring. And they were just underachieving. Well, Chris Alave changing that conversation. Four catches in this game. Had that touchdown.

And yeah, we got a little glimpse of J.J. McCarthy.

By the way, this on a rope. That's a hell of a throw from J.J. Just kind of coming off the bench there in relief. Of Jameis Winston, and there was some fight right now in this team. McCarthy goes 11-21, passing 243 passing yards. Did that interception, but we showed you that touchdown. Saints figure out a way to get it done. Now, you know what this means in New York.

There's going to be a conversation about who is going to start next week. John Harbaugh was asked after the game. This is his comments today, working through that right now on that quarterback decision with Winston and J.J.

McCarthy. Not ready to name a starter for this week. against the Houston Texans. And don't look now.

The Texans all of a sudden feels like they have been figuring things out.

And we still haven't even.

Seen what that offense is going to really look like when Marvin Harrison gets going.

There are definitely more than three burning questions a month and a half into the season, but let's tackle three of the biggest ones right now. What is wrong with the Los Angeles Rams? Everybody's offseason Super Bowl favorite doesn't look like a Super Bowl contender right now, doesn't look like a division contender right now, doesn't look like even a playoff team right now, sitting at two and four after six games. The defense, it's been okay, even statistically good.

But against the Arizona Cardinals, they could not get off the field. And the Cardinals were down to a second or third string running back. Congratulations and salute to Bam Knight and that offensive line. Cardinals ran for 120 yards. Now, I know, I know, there's no Miles Garrett involved right here, right now. He hasn't played any impactful snaps. He played week one in Australia, but said he was kind of a shadow of himself. They got to get him back on the field and get him back on the field soon.

And then Matthew Stafford in this offense doesn't look like the MVP form that we've seen either. Two and four, it's not panic button, but the thumb might be hovering over the top of it right now. Burning question number two, not to pile on Los Angeles, but Is there any hope for the L.A.

Chargers?

Both Los Angeles teams just struggling right now, but the Chargers just in the pit at 0-6, their worst start this century. And we all know it kind of stems from the lack of offense that they've had. Justin Herbert has been a star quarterback. Mike McDaniel has been a star offensive mind and play caller. But the strange alchemy of these two being put together has produced awful results for 15 points per game. That's 30th in the NFL.

They've allowed 21 sacks this year. And I know both of their offensive tackles are out again like they were for most of last year. Jim Harbaugh says he's going to evaluate everything. Well, he better get some answers soon or the only hope for the Chargers will be a top five draft pick in April. And the third of our burning questions right now. Are we sure the Buffalo Bills are elite so far? You are what your record says you are, and the Bills are 5-1, and they're in first place, so that's what they are. However, I think when you look at this Bills team, they're good enough that they can play.

you know, poorly and win.

They did that against the LA Chargers. But they're not good enough that they won't play poorly and lose. See what they did against the New England Patriots. And then this right here. Look, everyone's saying play of the year, play of the decade, whatnot. Josh Allen, MVP, former MVP, MVP candidate this year. But plays like this is a little bit of the Josh Allen experience. You can make those plays, but sometimes they'll come up as interceptions and everyone will go, that's not the play of the year.

That might be the worst decision of the year. But, hey, Buffalo, it's mostly good right now. Five and one. Offense is elite. Defense needs to progress. The Bills are on the bye here in week number seven. More information to follow on that burning question.

Scott, congrats on episode 300. By the way, Bill's Mafia, you can find Scott on social media. Meanwhile, here we go. Wembley got a little more international flavor.

Check this out.

Cam Little at a 60-yard field goal. That tied the game at 31 with under two minutes to go here.

About a minute in the game. How about C.J. Stroud to Woody Marks?

That's good for 19 yards. That would help set up this. Kyme Fairbairn from 49 gets it to go through the upright. His ninth career game-winning field goal. His time expires. The Houston Texans take out the Jags, who, by the way, are fortunate to go one and one. In London, if you think about what happened the other week against Philadelphia, I'm just saying. Meanwhile, Titans and Colts, we told you on Friday on NFL Report, this might be an upset alert for you about Cam Ward to Cardinal Tate. Worth overall pick, first career touchdown for him. Tied at 13.

The Titans. Oh, Sanchez gets blocked.

Femi Oladejo returns it for 14 yards into the end zone. Doesn't matter if the scores are coming from the defense, their offense, or special team. Robert Sala's like, yo, I'll take some points here. Daniel Jones, he's got the heave. This is going to fall short. Jones, by the way, has got to be a bit shell-shocked. Dude was sacked six times in this game. How about the Tennessee Titans?

It is win number one. Cam's like, a little sense of relief there. Robert Sala, it is his first win as the Titans head coach.

All right, back here on NFL Report, we got Steelers and Bucs.

Aaron Rodgers' squad down 13 in the fourth quarter.

But it's, Rodgers, right?

Like, there's always an opportunity and a chance. In overtime here, Rodgers, Jeremy Bernard. How about his first career touchdown? Somehow, someway, finds his way into the end zone. Jalen Daniels, man, this has been kind of a tough sled for him. He's had some good moments and some not-so-good moments. And fourth down to end the game here.

Whew!

Dylan Ramsey didn't even see it coming. Daniels, by the way, two interceptions in the fourth quarter.

Costly.

Rodgers, he knows this win absolutely huge as the Steelers right now are sitting at 4-2.

These are the most important moments for us as a team to grow because this is a trajectory-altering win today. But to be 4-2 now, to win our first road game, to beat a team we should have beaten. There's no two ways around it. You've got to beat teams like that if you want to get to where we want to get. It didn't look like a win for a long time, so I'm proud of our guys. Defense kept us in it. Offense finally made a couple plays.

Fighting to the end, that Pittsburgh squad.

Speaking of this division, Baltimore, we know Lamar Jackson, Snoop Huntley, played well Sunday night football a week ago against the Atlanta Falcons. They were able to score that win. Cleveland trailed by 10. And this one only had 107 total yards heading into that fourth quarter. But Sean Watson, man, these timely plays late. 33-yard pass to Jeremy Judy. That would set up Andre Schmitz, who, by the way, missed a 48-yard field goal just a few minutes prior from 37.

That's good. The Browns win.

Munkin, who spent his previous three seasons as the Ravens offensive coordinator, is now talking about and experiencing his Cleveland Browns team sitting in first place in the AFC North exactly how we all thought it was going to play out. Just kind of crazy here. You got Pittsburgh also sitting at 4-2. The Ravens sitting at 4-2. Cincinnati came out of the gates. You're like, hey, the offense is rolling.

The defense was looking good. They're sitting at 3-2. So just keep in mind, man, there's still some opportunities for these squads. The Browns, though, they continue to win all these close games. All four wins have come by four points or fewer.

Just wild.

By the way, latest they've been in first place in the season since 2014.

Just wild to me.

All right, time for some quick hits for you. Packers, they've won three straight. Have to wait a little bit for Micah Parsons' return. Matt LaFleur saying today he is not formally designated for return from the physically unable-to-perform list ahead of this week's game against the Lions. LaFleur, by the way, didn't rule out week eight as a potential option, but don't forget it's going to be a short week because they have the Panthers on TNF. Patrick Mahomes just doing what Patrick Mahomes does, and that's win football games, tying.

Maybe the GOAT? Well, it's two GOATs here.

Tom Brady has the fastest quarterbacks to reach 100 career wins in NFL history, 131 starts. Sort of a remarkable campaign right now for KC fans. We showed you the tough loss that the Bucs had against Pittsburgh a few minutes ago. Baker Mayfield continues to be on the mend. He's now missed three games because of that dislocated right thumb.

But we told you last week on NFL Report, he was testing the ability to throw the ball. And today, Todd Bowles said, The current plan is for Mayfield to be involved in practice this week. Keep in mind, they get Carolina in week number seven, so a huge divisional matchup.

All right, Ian Rappaport putting this out on social media. Bill's safety, C.J.

Gardner-Johnson, has been suspended without pay for one game for an act unsportsmanlike conduct, which essentially is him spitting on Brock Bowers. That is not going to get it done, so... Gardner Johnson, who, by the way, has had some good moments so far on the field. Good to see him healthy. That's certainly not one of the positive ones. Meanwhile, the Patriots, we showed you Romeo Dobbs getting banged up during that highlight on IR with that shoulder injury. The DB, Elliot Davison, is being elevated to the 53-man roster. Kevin Stefanski, all positive news on Kendall Daniels. Obviously a huge hit that he suffered yesterday. in that game feeling very, very fortunate.

He got carted off the field. They actually cut his jersey. So definitely some positive signs there. Veteran free agent quarterback Andy Dalton signing with the Atlanta Falcons. Sort of wild to see his name get brought up into the mix, especially with all the issues right now that Philadelphia has.

We'll do it again tomorrow. NFL report. You can catch us all week long. But coming up next, it is game day preview. I got to get up to that studio.
