Good morning, sweet world, and welcome to the No Dunks NBA podcast.

It's Friday, October 23rd, 2026.

This is The Drop.

I'm J.E.

Skeets here in the Classic Factory, and alongside me, as always, Tass Millis.

I am so tall today. I'm like Trey Kirby's height today.

Next to him, it is Trey Kirby, the Top Shot hot boy himself.

Ayo. Ayo.

Over there, making the magic happen, Super Producer JD.

Last night.

The biggest comeback in LeBron's career.

We get new stats every night.

Yeah, yeah. But I want to ask you specifically, Trey Kerr, because I know you like these things.

I do.

Would you go with no lead is safe? Or it was a tale of two halves.

Ooh, interesting, interesting.

Or both.

Tale of two halves for me. I love the tale of two halves. I love referencing our good friend Charles Dickens. We're close with him. And honestly, when you set a LeBron record, that's really something. He's played in three quarters of the NBA's games of all time. And this is his biggest comeback ever. You're doing the math. You're like, that can't possibly be true.

Three quarters of the game?

That's because I made it up, Tess. That's a made-up stat right there. But it is true that this is LeBron's biggest comeback ever. And it was literally a tale of two halves, it felt like, for the Philadelphia 76ers. Sloppy stakes all in the first half. They're walking through their actions. If they're even running any sort of a play, it just felt like random basketball. shout out to the 76ers fans got to boo their home team at the home opener in the first half and it worked in the second half they came out and they looked awesome they got into transition a bunch Jalen Brown really got involved in the offense and Bede was unstoppable five for six in the second half missed the three-pointer everything else

was inside and I thought that was huge for the Sixers so many more interior touches for Joel Embiid in game two of their season and then Jalen Brown was The takeover in the fourth quarter, I thought was really, really big for him. He hits a bunch of like three straight baskets, basically, including the one to put him up seven. The turnovers completely flipped. Philadelphia turned the ball over 14 times in the first half. Cleveland turned the ball over 15 times in the second half. And it just felt like two completely different games. in the way the 76ers and the Cavs were playing. So awesome for the 76ers to get a little bit of adversity in their home opener and overcome it. That's going to be

massive for them going forward.

Yeah, I wonder watching this game, is this going to be the habit of this team in general? Older team just kind of turns it on when they want to. I think it's too early to say, hey, this team just knows how to turn it on. But that's what they did. They're getting booed, as you said, in the first half.

They're down 29 with like 50 seconds to go right before the half.

Yeah, they truly weren't playing team basketball. As Trey said, they're coming up the floor and there's five guys standing around. It's OK, do something. Some were awesome because these guys are the best players in the world. But some were pretty bad and they ran a couple sets. I think Nick Nurse had to get up and yell at him and say, OK, here we go. Run some sets. But when they came out of the locker room, I think Tyrese Maxey got If anyone is their leader, I think it's him. He is taking that upon himself to be sort of that visual, emotional leader and get these guys running stuff. I got to give credit to Joel Embiid.

It is hilarious watching Joel Embiid play. It's like he is hanging by a thread, man. He can go up and he'll score. And then as soon as he scores, he's gingerly walking back up the floor.

He'll score inside.

Then he'll go to the bench and he puts his hands on his knees. Is he going to collapse or is he going to keep scoring?

It really is.

I mean, you could have a tale of two Embiids in one game with this guy. You just don't know what's going to happen. But he was able to execute. Well, on the other side, it's clear that The offense is behind the defense for most NBA teams, and it's clear with the Cavs. Some of the stuff that they're running, I mean, they're pick and roll. It's the same team, basically, as last year. A lot of pick and rolls with Evan Mobley, with Jared Allen, that they just turned the ball over. This guy's moving too early as the picker.

This guy's passing too early. So they just couldn't do it. The 21 turnovers really did them in, and they couldn't execute down the stretch. So that was I was a little disappointing to watch. That fourth quarter, it was all Sixers and some bad defenses from the Cavs as well.

The comeback, though, started in the third quarter, too, where the Sixers did a good job of getting into the bonus really early. The third quarter was a free throw party for the Sixers. Again, they were obviously trying to get back in this game.

That helped them.

But then Tyrese Maxey, that was relentless defense, I thought, in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter. I mean, we saw him picking up Harden full court on multiple possessions to the point where Harden was getting pissed off. And those two went nose to nose, and then they had to be separated. And then you had Vijay Edgecombe coming in there, the young kid pulling Maxie aside. But I just thought he, Maxie specifically, and then everybody else got on board. It just cranked up the defensive intensity and led to a lot of those turnovers. Because we had a run there of Sixers guys out there that was Maxie, KCP, Vijay, Jalen Brown, and Adem Bona. that was in the fourth quarter. There was the great minutes

from that five where LeBron gets to rest a little bit. Joel Embiid gets a little breather there. And then they came back to close the door. But yeah, this look, look, I mean, when you see them, the five of them, those five starters.

It's scary. It's a super team. It is, man.

Like, I think they're going to play a lot of these games.

I'm with you, Tass.

I can't wait to see what they do on like those like, you know, cold January, February nights where it's not a nationally televised game against a subpar opponent. You know, will they fight back? Will they be up for it? Or are they going to always try and flip a switch? Well, they've shown they can flip a switcher in at least the first two games against really good teams.

They're going to try and flip the switch.

Yeah, I know.

And it's going to bite them in the ass a lot. Absolutely it is. I kind of actually think the entire season is going to be a little bit of a flip switch for the 76ers. They want it on right now because it's the start of the season. You've got to look good. There will be times when LeBron takes a backseat, takes some time off. Obviously, we know Embiid is not going to play 82 games, but maybe he'll get to 70. We'll see. Two for two so far.

What a great start. But they're going to want to flip the switch. At the end of March, heading into April where everybody's healthy and then they're playing their best come postseason time. But I do think it's pretty interesting that like there seems to be a lot of clarity that Tyrese Maxey is our best player. Yes. And he is the guy that keys everything for us in the second half. Sixers did a great job of just getting him the ball in the middle of the floor. And he's the fastest guy on the court by far. So they're just letting him cook. In their game last night against Cleveland, 32 points, 23 shots. Both led the team.

Against the Knicks in game one, 28 points, 19 shots. Both of those led the team. And then he's doing it on the defensive end as well. He had a big block in game one. He's making steals here and there on the court. The team is obviously pulling for each other right now. For a team that was thrown together the way they were, it feels like they've got a lot of continuity and chemistry for playing only in two games.

Yeah, and I think all five guys are going to be pulling for each other. I know there's questions going on around about Vijay Edgecombe. Does he want a bigger role? And talk about his agent wanting this and that. And even his fellow Bahamian, our man Rick Fox, saying Vijay Edgecombe should want a bigger role. And he'll get one.

Yeah.

It's just not going to come this year with LeBron there. Maybe it'll come next year if LeBron retires. But you mentioned him throwing his arm around Tyrese Maxey's shoulder. That's a good sign. Yeah, as simple as that. They want to play for each other at this point. And him and Tyrese Maxey and Jalen Brown are going to have to be very important because, yeah, those guys are going to sit the oldies and they're going to have old games.

I mean, if there's any season where LeBron looks old, it is this one. There are times he was falling to the floor yesterday. He almost looked like, you know, he looked like an old guy yesterday. at the YMCA for a second, but then he's awesome doing whatever he does. So there's going to be those games where the other three, plus the guys you mentioned off the bench that have to come through for this team.

Yeah, they do.

But it was the starters scoring 64 of their 69 second half points with Maxie with 32 and Bede with 24. He had seven boards and he did have that little stretch where he went to work.

And then Jalen Brown, you're right.

He sort of closed the door, got to his spots and he had 21 and eight in addition to LeBron getting You know, it's not the classic 27-7 from LeBron anymore. It's the muted version of that where he fills the box score to a lesser extent. But, yeah, hell of a comeback. I mean, not great for the Cavs here, though, obviously, after blowing a huge— What, game one of the Eastern Conference finals? That's to them five games ago or whatever, four games ago. And then to do it even worse here.

Yeah.

You're up 29.

That's good.

But then, yeah, just falling apart there in the second half. And just like you go stretches of games. It's like, where is Mobley? Where? You don't even hear from him. him for a huge stretch of this game. And I mean, he has to get involved and it's on the playmakers and Mitchell and Harden, but it's just not good. Not a good start here for the Cavs.

Yeah.

As I said, offense is usually behind defense to this point. And I was a little disappointed that the Cavs defense, which is supposed to be ahead, didn't fight a little bit more in that second half. You can ask where Evan Mobley was. I asked why wasn't he guarding Joel Embiid one possession, and it was James Harden. James Harden, who didn't even throw his body at Joel Embiid at all. Now, Mobley had 4,000. That was the whole point. But still, there's too many possessions. And Jared Allen just needed to be a little bit more physical. I blame that in-game interview that he had in the first half, sitting on the bench.

I blame him.

Back to this.

I blame him. Yeah, they have to sit him right at the end of the bench. He does this interview. It's not that it was a bad interview. He's an eloquent, well-spoken guy. It's all done. But then he's fist-bumping Sixers fans because of where they put him, because he's right at the end of the bench, just so the camera shot can be on him. And, you know, nice guy and all that, but it's competition time. And I need you focused on what we're doing out there. We don't need to be buds with these Sixers fans that you're sitting beside. We need you to fight Joel Embiid. And this guy in Joel Embiid was a guy who barely jumped last night. I mean, literally, he may have jumped over a sheet of paper last night. And that's it.

He did not. And he's the second game. You're going to see lots of those games. You need a more physical play. And I will say on the other end, you know, Tyrese Maxey did some things defensively. But that is the guy, and the Cleveland Cavaliers did it, that they're going to point out amongst their starting five and say, we're going at that guy. You know, LeBron to another extent, but they went at him. So the fight level was good.

I would say, just from the Sixers overall, while the Cavs, it just kind of died off, and that was disappointing.

Any thoughts on Peyton Watson's Cavaliers debut? Struggled from the floor, 2 of 7, only 8 points.

He was brutal. He was getting torched by Tyrese Maxey, and in the second half, a huge part of the reason that the Sixers were able to come back was that Nick Nurse said, Joel Embiid, you're guarding Peyton Watson, and by guard him, don't guard him at all. That just meant there was a huge guy hanging out by the rim for the entirety of the second half, which is how you get Three total points from the Cavs frontcourt.

Three for Mobley, zero for Allen. So yeah, two for seven on the night for Peyton Watson. Zero threes. He had the big moving screen call in the middle of the fourth quarter. There are going to be a lot of games where he gets seven shots because he's going to be the fifth option. in their starting lineup a lot, but he's also their number one option for a perimeter defender, and he was just in Maxie's rearview mirror all night.

I mean, Maxie's tough to card, but still, this is why they brought him in, is to be a defensive stopper.

Yeah, to give him a little bit of credit, they do put him on that island, and then they don't help at all. Yeah, Tyrese Maxie can literally go by anybody. They need to have a secondary guy helping, just to be there, to slow him down so Watson can catch up.

Yeah, it was basically like they just had Maxie and Jalen Brown in the fourth quarter put Merrill and Peyton Watson into action every single time, and it was an easy shot for whoever wanted it, whether it be on Merrill or a lot of times on Watson. Jalen Brown was taking it to him as well.

Yeah, it was disappointing overall for Peyton Watson finding his flow in this team. It was their first game, and it was pretty clear on both ends of the floor. Mario Zonia came on and was big. and so he is huge he is huge guy he's just.

They could not stop talking about his size i mean yeah that's why i feel a lot bigger than he was last time he was in the nba.

Yeah they cannot stop talking about his weight not just his height it's just how wide he is yeah.

He played i mean he did some bully ball there in stretch of this game and then and then at a certain point i'm like okay maybe too much hazonia uh at another stretch but he was okay here in his return Yeah. I mean, he's got like a neck like a rugby player or something.

Yeah. He's a creatine or something. Yeah, that's why I said I'm tall. I put this seat up a little bit more because I feel like Mario Hazonia today. Not really. I'm just sitting... Anyway, 13 shots in 18 minutes for Mario Hazonia. That's too many shots. Yeah. We can pass it a little bit. But there are options underneath the hoop.

Mario could have just dumped it off, but that's not his thing.

So....

That hasn't changed since he was in the NBA a long time ago, but it was disappointing. Sam Merrill, especially, and Peyton Watson. The D wasn't there for those guys.

New lighting system here. The 76ers arena. Bathing the court in like a blue hue. At least, I don't know if it was like that in person. Obviously, coming through on our television screens, it was. Maybe that's like the ESPN cameras or they didn't white balance or something. I don't know, but.

They had squares all over the court.

Yeah.

Glowing squares everywhere. Yeah. Yeah.

And like the shadows were crazy on the players.

Yes.

Yeah.

I was like, is it a reflection of the video board coming down? Is it a reflection of the, you know, the ribbon screens?

I think they have like a Ticketmaster, a lot of Ticketmaster blue branding.

I don't know if it's the ribbons because it's so far, like the ribbons are kind of far away. It's the video board. I don't know. Yeah. They're bleeding onto the floor. It looked. Looked bad. I got Danielle into the room because she's an artist. I said, where is this coming from? Where is it? What's happening? And she said it feels like a mirror, like it's reflecting off the video board.

It seems what it was.

A little research, too, showed the Sixers, I think, did add those, like, the lighting to the railings in the aisles. You know how some arenas have this now that, like, light up all the time? And I think they were, like, they cranked them bright blue during gameplay. Maybe that had an effect on this blue hue. Coming across our screens. JD, did you fire up the game last night? I'd love for you to comment, but maybe you didn't see it.

I saw a little bit of it.

Oh, you did?

Okay, shocking.

Interesting.

I don't remember the blue.

Oh, yeah.

If you see a comparison to last year's 76ers Arena, it's like night and day. Yeah, blue moon and everything.

I got to see what color the Sixers' cup court is, because if it's blue, that's going to look wild.

That's the way it was last year. It was ridiculously blue.

Yeah, they got a super blue one. It's going to be Blue's Clues.

It's so blue.

Tobias Funke, I just blew myself.

Former Philadelphia 76er, Tobias Funke. Tobias Harris Funke. Question, did the Philadelphia 76ers do an in-game– interview in the second half. I don't think so. I think they said, no, we're not doing it.

We're too locked in. Yeah.

We don't need Tass Mellis on our ass on no dunks the next day.

That's right. Yeah. I will decline.

I don't know.

I don't think so.

I don't remember it. I was just, yeah, I think they literally declined it. I think this is the first team in NBA history that has declined it.

Silver's going to find them.

I'm pretty sure. Yeah. We saw it on opening night. They do them both halves. Then Jared Allen, who I just don't think is built for in-game interviews, but that's my take on it. It's not the in-game interviews so much.

It's not Jared Allen. It's just not him.

Did Jared Allen after the game say the lights were too blue instead of bright?

It'd be funny if people start wearing those blue light glasses to play against the 76ers. Get your Zenni opticals in.

What other random notes do you have from the Sixers' big comeback, 29-point comeback?

Well, you mentioned Maxie and Harden had a little bit of a skirmish. Two guys that I'm like, oh, they're not doing anything. No, they love each other.

They do love each other.

They're like best buds from, you know, the 12 seconds that Harden was in Philadelphia. Like he was mentoring Maxie. And that's kind of since Harden's been around, Maxie's been an all NBA level player. But they're just both tuned up a little bit. Oh, yeah.

I mean, Maxie was he was all over him and he was trying to get himself and the team and that fan base, the crowd. like some energy going to try and get it going. And I think Harden was like, all right, cut it out. You've done it three times now. Stop picking me up full court. Like a smaller brother or something like that. But yeah, they were not going to throw down. They were smiling and everything. But we had the brick and for chicken, which they did win.

I don't know what, when did they win? Chicken sandwiches or something like that. But Edgecombe got a bloody nose out of it because LeBron popped him. And then he was all stuffed up for the rest of the game. It was a pretty good bloody nose.

I don't remember which team I saw doing this, but it was on Wednesday night, so one of the, you know, one of those 11 games, and they had Brickin' for Chicken. They've got a graphic on it that they surely put on the Jumbotron. We see it at home on League Pass, and it's spelled Brickin', B-R-I-C-K-E-N. Yeah. I was like, okay, it is spelled the same as chicken, but like Brickin' or Bricking would be an I-N, I think, at the end, so that threw me off.

Yeah, or you could go Brick, apostrophe N.

Another good option. for chicken but they went straight for chicken totally yeah but I understand I understand why they did this don't worry I get it I understood what it meant what do you guys think about Nick Nurse's chain it's been getting a lot of buzz lately I meant to bring it up after.

The home debut yeah It's blinged out. What'd you call him?

Dead Row Nurse.

Death Row Nurse, yeah.

He looks like the cover of the Death Row get-together.

Yeah. He had cool kicks on last night. I don't know what they were, but purple Nikes on.

I don't know.

He's trying to be cool.

Yeah, he is. He's trying to be cool.

Yeah, fine.

He didn't use that.

Coaches should not wear... It's simple. I've got a simple rule for this one. If you're a coach, don't wear a gold chain.

Okay.

I'd like to see Nurse come out in the crazy warm-up.

That all these teams have.

He should rock that.

He should, yeah. The aspiration or obsession. Obsession, I always want to call it aspiration.

Damn you, Pablo.

Obsession, that's what it is. Yeah, it was odd to see the change. The change just kind of weirds me out. Maybe it's because seeing Nick for so long. But then, you know, there's a cross on it, so you can't really insult it. I'm wondering, oh, can you call it out?

It's blinged out.

It is blinged out. It's got a chain on it. There it is. Wow, JD pulling it up right here. Okay, there it is. You know, it looks more blingy on the broadcast, I got to say, than on our screenshot that we're watching on YouTube right now.

Yeah, it does.

It's shinier. It reflected the light, I think.

My final random note is, and I know you might appreciate this because you usually watch these games like sort of in arena feeds.

Yeah, of course.

Where you get like a lot of the crowd shots. Like, you know, if you watch the nationally televised game, you get commercials.

And all that.

Yeah, they actually had chickens on the court yesterday.

Did they?

No. Oh, okay.

But my note is, having watched a lot of league pass over the years and a lot of in arena feeds and stuff like that, I think the Sixers fan base, like their fans are some of the most entertaining people in the NBA. Yeah. What I mean is like they throw a song on and then people are up dancing and singing the lyrics. There's just a lot of showmen.

Yeah.

And show women in Philadelphia. It's true.

They just love a camera. Yeah. And they're ready to perform. And I'm like entertained.

So I'll keep an eye on that as we go on with the other fan bases. But I think Philly is near the top of the list.

Some of the best at lip syncing to a rap song. Exactly.

Like there's the famous Freeway song. I mean, that woman is like the OG. But a lot of them were good last night.

Yeah, that's what the Nereida Fiends are good for. I will say opening night or opening day because we had an afternoon game. The Detroit Pistons fans, who are always great, are always really, really good at doing what you just said. They also have an iced-out camera where they show them, oh, this is what I brought.

Go to Nick Nurse Square.

Yeah, exactly.

And then finally here, I don't know if you guys saw this, in an Instagram comments section last night, Jalen Brown said, posted a blue hat in honor of the blue court they were playing on. No, the symbol for cap. Meaning you're lying, bro. And it was in response to a story Jason Tatum told about the day Celtics traded Jalen Brown. And Tatum said he was just as much caught off guard as the rest of the world when Boston dealt Jalen Brown to the 76ers this summer. So it's a Jason Tatum clip. I think he's got some weird little documentary clip. on YouTube that he's posted.

This is the clip.

And Jalen Brown, after last night's game, dropping the emoji, the blue cap emoji. So everybody's thinking he's saying, yeah.

Right, bro.

You knew I was being traded.

Or you knew more than you are letting on.

Mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm. This is news to you, I guess. I cut you off guard here.

Yeah, yeah.

I was listening to every.

Word you just said. You really were.

Go on.

I did not see this. Now, you are a believer that there was some infighting going on in the. Celtics locker room. You always know that they didn't like Jalen Brown in general. Maybe it's the organization more so than I think.

I think something like this, like any organization, let's be honest, can run its course and people can get tired of one another. And then you can start rubbing, banging heads and all that.

Yes.

But I also believe Jalen Brown. I don't believe that Tatum didn't know anything that it was a surprise.

So.

Yeah.

I don't buy it one second. That part, if that's what he's capping on, yeah, exactly.

Are you capping on that?

Are you Mike Kaplan on that?

Yeah, I want a full reasoning by Jalen Brown. What did he know? Okay, maybe he knew an hour before.

Big deal.

Wait, Tatum, you mean? Yeah.

Oh, okay. So you don't got to show me a cap if a guy knew, if they told him and said, hey, we're trading your other best player. I mean, that's understandable. But if you're throwing up a cap because it was part of the plan of Jason Tatum, okay.

At the end of the day, I believe.

Give me a full report.

Here's what I believe.

I think Jalen Brown's like, I keep it real, okay? You know, I do my streams.

100%.

I do my streams.

I speak my mind. I don't hold anything back. What you see is what you get with Jalen Brown. And I would think he thinks that Tatum is a little bit more calculated.

You know... Stage managed. Yes, thank you. Thank you. That's what I think is really.

Going on here. OK. OK.

Yeah.

Listen, I was watching a Jalen Brown Twitch stream the other day. Vijay Ajkam joined him because I was really just trying to grab a clip for us. Either way, he's good on the camera and he does speak himself. And I do like him in every single interview. But if he's keeping it real, let's keep it real. Let's let's let's know the whole the whole deal to keep it real. You know what I mean?

You want more?

You want him to say, well, I don't want an emoji.

Show me the stuff.

Don't worry.

He'll probably explain the emoji. They'll be coming up soon. Okay. First Philadelphia 76ers versus Celtics game is in Philadelphia November 10th.

That's coming up, baby.

I assume they don't play in Boston until January 21st. How many points will Jalen Brown have in the first game against the Celtics? Over or under 39 and a half?

In Philly? That's a good question.

Uh i mean look he's going to go for uh 39 plus now is the shot fallen need some threes i think to get to that high number obviously i will go under but it'll be close great he'll be at.

35 no no i think he's going like 25 at home he's.

Gonna i'll take the over on that if you want to bet on that.

I think he'll be well stage managed for that game. We know what we're doing here. I'm not the guy.

I'm not the guy.

It's a team game. Now when he goes back to Boston, give me a 45. That's different, I think.

That's a fair bet. Under in Philadelphia, over in Boston. I do think that... Jalen Brown's new teammates are petty enough that they'll be like, we're trying to get you baskets every single time. And Bean will love it. LeBron would love it. And Max, he's just a good guy.

Yeah, he's like, okay.

That's a fair point. That's a good stage manage.

And Nick Nurse. Fucking Death Row Records Nick Nurse, man.

He's like, yeah, let's get him.

Let's start this beat.

Death Row.

All right, anything else?

Do you think he's watched the P. Diddy doc?

Nick Nurse?

Yeah.

Nah.

Nah, I don't think so either.

No, he's watching Arkell's doc. Yeah.

That's on Netflix.ca. Yes. It's a VPN to be able to watch the Arkell's doc.

In the nightcap, OKC withstood a poor shooting night from Shea Gildas Alexander in their home opener to beat the Nuggets 96-84. SGA finished with just 17 points on 6-19 shooting, failing to score 20 points for the first time in 141 regular season games. So the streak continues. is over, pour out a little for the streak. But, I mean, Thunder win with elite defense again.

Absolutely.

And holding the Nuggets, who have been one of the best offensive teams over the last, what, how many years? Five years, to 84 points is pretty impressive.

Very impressive. That being said, if I'm a Nuggets fan, I don't feel too bad about that. We got a terrible game from Jokic and a terrible game from Jamal Murray.

They were bad.

And we were still playing with the Thunder up until the end of the fourth quarter, really. So the fact that those support guys who were the biggest question coming into the season, Aaron Gordon, is he going to be Aaron Gordon? Gosh, he looked so good. He looked solid. In this game. Well, I'll debate whether or not he's going to stay healthy later on. But you go up and down the roster, even when Cam Johnson didn't come back in the second half after injuring his ankle. They throw out an Alpha Diallo out there who is a defensive weapon and was able to help shut down Shea.

So that is a great sign. You keep on going down the roster. Trevin Brazil, a second round pick that we all ridicule the Denver Nuggets front office. A smart little pick up after drafting Terrace Reed, sending him to the Spurs for Trevin Brazil and two other future second round picks because they are trying to save their money.

And it all worked out. That guy was great. We didn't talk about him in summer league, but he looked really, really good in summer league. What did he have, like 12 boards in 18 minutes last night?

Yeah, 12 boards. He was rebounding.

Yeah.

He is energetic. He's bouncing around.

You can tell, I'm talking about the bench, you can tell DeMar needs to just get a little bit more comfortable with his team. This guy coming off the bench for the first time since 2010. It is amazing. This is 13th game of his 18th season career that this guy's coming off the bench. And you can tell he's going too fast on picks. And sometimes he doesn't need picks just get the heck out of the way so there was that getting used to but i would just say it all kind of looked good beyond for the.

Nuggets you're saying yeah they scored 84 points i know 36 in the second.

Half well when you're when your lead two players are stinky yoga should not have a good scoring i don't love them looking.

Gassed in the season opener though which guys specifically the nuggets the main guys i thought they looked Yeah.

They played– it was questionable to play Jokic all 12 first quarter minutes. But then he's just such a quiet guy to see him coaching and getting after his guy, something that he's trying to take upon himself. I know that Jokic is going to play better, I assume.

Yeah.

Oh, yeah, for sure.

Jamal Murray is going to play better. I hear what you're saying. I mean, up and down the roster because we question– and even– Even Christian Brown, like the guys that we all questioned, the Aaron Gordon, Christian Brown, Cam Johnson experience of it all. Aaron Gordon looked great. Christian Brown getting after it. I mean, all of them getting after it. 19 offensive rebounds on this team. Even if they're missing threes, even if Cam Johnson's getting a sprained ankle, that they fought till the end, and their support guys look pretty good. Again, their top two guys are going to be good. And so I walk away from this and say, we shut down Che. We're pretty happy with our defensive effort, and offensively, you know, it'll come together.

The half glass... What am I trying to say?

The glass half empty.

Look though is and i know it's only one game it's like i just don't think they're gonna be able to beat the spurs the thunder and they don't they can't beat the wolves because for whatever reason they've always had their number although it's a new makeup of that wolves team it's like oh you've started game one here and it's like oh boy i mean i just i'm like i am projecting way far ahead and skipping the regular season yeah it's a concern though they've had success against the spurs they did last year.

So but if aaron if aaron gordon is that same guy that helped win a championship okay, now we have a top three. Now we're good. And if Christian Brown can play hard, Cam Johnson still questions. Cam Johnson's worrisome that he went out with this ankle injury. This guy gets injured a lot. I know that kind of flies under the radar a little bit. Last season missed 28 games.

Season before him missed 25 games. Season before him missed 24 games. Season before him missed 40 games. It's a bad start. So I'm a little worried about that fifth spot, fourth spot, whatever you call it. But they got guys they can fill in. So I hear what you're saying, though. I hear what you're saying.

I think.

feel completely different. Like the complete opposite of it. I agree that like Muri and Jokic will have better games, but I thought in general, the Nuggets for playing their first game of the season looked so old and so slow compared to the Thunder, especially the bench. Like the Nuggets bench to me was the reason they lost this game specifically in the second half. It was like, We're just doing Aaron Gordon isos the entire time. They were playing through Aaron Gordon the whole time, and he had a fine enough game, but he was six for nine from the field. That's not that great, and it just felt like turnover after turnover. They had that awesome play where Chet two-hand volleyball blocks Christian Brown's dunk attempt at

the rim.

That was nice.

Turns into a J-Dub alley-oop on the other end. You could tell the Thunder had all the momentum in the world, and it would just run out after run out after that. Twelve turnovers in the second half. For the Nuggets, their offense fell apart when Cam Johnson went to the bench. They need his shooting out there. DeRozan, I assume, will be a little bit better. I thought Christian Brown gave effort, but he didn't play very well. I just thought they looked like a team that was past their prime, and it was night one for this team.

Definitely after that block to the alley-oop, got everybody going nuts in there. That's like– did we ever come up with a name? But the thunderclap I like where the thunder crank it up and they just start relying on the turnovers to fast break formula, which we've seen, and they do for stretches and that sort of– they took control of the game there.

And you're right.

The Nuggets stuck around for a little bit, made things interesting until it got away at the end. But they definitely– I mean, I keep thinking, Tass, watching the Thunder through two games is something you kept saying in the preseason. It's like, I think the Thunder are better losing those three guys for second apron reasons. And I think you're right, like, so far. Like, yeah, the guys slotting in here and getting more opportunity, Case and Wallace being sort of the main one, but then the rest of the guys as it.

Trickles down, it's like.

You might be right, man.

They're scary good. There's no doubt. And that's why I kind of feel okay about Denver losing to, you know, a team that might win the championship and where their offense isn't going well.

But you're going to probably have to go through them is my concern.

Yeah, this could be the last Denver dance for sure. If they fall apart. If Jamal Murray doesn't look like Jamal Murray at all anymore. Yesterday, yes, he kind of looked old when he was. Beautiful play to set him up on the sideline and then you've got a clear lane. but you got to be able to finish. And he just kind of looked like he was overwhelmed. But is this Jamal Murray making two shots? He's way better than that.

And it could be the last dance for Denver. Again, if, if it's the end of Jamal Murray, sure. Or, or all these other guys kind of fall apart. They have to, yeah, to basically disassemble this team. I get it. But I think Jokic will just turn it on at some point. And, and I do, I did again, like that spirit. You're right.

They missed the shooting of Kim Johnson. It's worrisome. They do have some injuries. We want to make excuses for Julian Straw. They're not being out there. Spencer Jones not playing in this game either. You know, there's that part. But I like the spirit. I like the team. Again, first game, you're kind of stinky offensively a lot of the time.

They definitely were. OKC's defense, though. Yeah, 84 points to Denver. Jokic with 13. Murray with six. He was a non-factor. And then in the first game, only 104 points to San Antonio. And that was with Wemby scoring.

What did he score?

12 or 13 points? 12, I think, right?

Yeah.

Something around that.

So awesome start for OKC's defense here. Back to the SGA of it all. He did reach 17 points on a three pointer with like a minute 45 left and could have tried to stay out there and extend the 20 point streak. Instead, I guess he asked to be subbed out once Denver cleared their starters off the floor. And he said, I got to respect the game.

So it's gone. See you later streak.

I'll start a new one.

Yep. See ya.

Yeah. 141. Second place was 126. So he's got, He's got space, man. Who's going to catch him?

Well, do you know who has the current streak right now in the NBA? I saw this by our guy Zach Harper from The Bounce. Who has the current consecutive 20-point game streak in the NBA right now?

My initial thought is Durant.

This is such a funny answer.

Tyrese Maxey. What kind of funny? Just a crazy one?

Well, it's a guy we think about who's elite. He's dominant, but when it comes to Playing, we're always like, is he.

Going to play? Embiid? Nope. Giannis? Nope. Zion? Nope.

Kawhi?

Kawhi Leonard. 58 straight games of 20-plus points. Thank you to Zach Harper for that hilarious trivia question.

That's going to be broken.

He's done it for 58. That's impressive. Well, I say it's going to be broken because he's basically saying, like, I'm slow playing it. I'm not ready to play a lot of minutes. I'm waiting until the doctors tell me. I'm gearing up slowly. That's why I.

Wouldn't think 18, 19 point game in here soon.

Okay. It was surprising. It was surprising to see Shea not do it.

And the Shea streak, and I know we've brought this up before. I mean, it didn't include the playoffs where he's had, I believe six games where he didn't hit 20. So it's a regular season streak. And look, he lives his life consistently. And that's a pretty impressive run there to always hit 20.

And he could have, he could.

Have last night if he really wanted to and they wanted to. He's like, okay, whatever.

It's not that big a deal.

Yeah. And to reiterate what you said about this team being better overall, like two through 12, it didn't matter if he scored 17 because here comes Cason Wallace splashing threes that he didn't do in game one. Here comes Arnstein. Here comes Chet, who looks really, really good. Chandler Williams looks awesome. So that's the biggest difference between now and.

May when they played the San Antonio Spurs. This guy looks really, really good.

What do you think of Jeremy Lin's color commentating debut there for ESPN? Rocking his brown suit, Jeremy Lin.

What do you think? To me, it seems like he's still learning the rhythms of like when to hop in and how long he's actually got to talk before the next play has started happening. But he's very straightforward. He loves paper. So I was in. I was like, I'll continue to listen to you for the rest of the season.

I could tell he was nervous for sure to start the game. Improvements to be made, but a solid start. I agree with that.

Yeah, totally. I do think the thing that stood out to me is being all technical about things. He was speaking a little bit long. You're talking about me. I love to speak long. He was speaking well into the next play. He was bleeding into the next play. So we can tighten it up, but it seems like they got some chemistry. The paper thing, that's ridiculous.

He's going to need to learn, and he even admitted as such with Ryan Rucco, about the rest of the league. I was laughing when he brought up the Christian Brown, and he was like, it's not Braun. It's actually Brown.

For all the listeners out there.

That's why he wore that suit.

Nice. He was going to.

Wear his Braun suit, but that didn't make any sense. That's right, that's right. Anyway, he needs reps.

He needs reps.

Yeah, so we're showing you here on YouTube. I'm saying, wow, because I didn't know we had this.

No, we didn't. JD's like cooking here. He's quick, man. He's crazy.

They were so happy to have sheets of paper which didn't feel thin and papery. Ruko originally or initially called it laminated.

Mm-hmm.

But they didn't look laminated.

No, no, I wouldn't say laminated. I just think it's a, yeah, high quality.

Because this is the end of first quarter stats that we see at a game. They print it off the paper. It can't be laminated. Or print it off the printer. It can't be laminated.

They do come out warm, though. Yeah, fresh off the press. Also, we don't need them.

What are we doing?

I like it.

It's a lot of paper wasted. Oh, you've done it. It's crazy how much paper you're handed. But you see how delighted Jeremy Lin is to see that paper?

They're marveling at it. In the truck, they go, we need a shot of them holding the paper. They weren't on them.

It looks like he's seeing paper for the first time ever.

JD would have loved it. Initially, they're just... You know, it's a regular game. They're just holding paper and they start talking about it. And then the truck goes, oh, we need a shot of them holding the paper. So then they go to it to see these guys holding paper. No sideline interviews. Did you see that? Or in-game interviews, I should say. They did it at the end of the first quarter and end of the third quarter. Hey, I'm taking notes. Maybe OKC didn't have the capabilities.

Maybe.

I don't know. Maybe.

But, hey.

Keep us honest with this.

Teams may do away with it. Maybe they don't want it.

I didn't think they had a say in the matter. They're you know supposed to with their broadcast partners.

But LeBron does the 76ers did not get one and they said they to me I assume let's get some people on the on the floor there on the on yes let's find out if they.

Oh you want Pablo on the case is what you're saying.

I don't know we don't need to go that deep Pablo's busy man I think I think this is too deep or too shallow or not not not a good enough story for Pablo got other guys.

Okay I also liked somebody, I don't know who tripped him, but somebody tripped J-Dub, and he rolled from almost half court to underneath the hoop. He rolled at least eight times. He stopped and then just did one more roll. Just for comedy. Just for fun, yeah. He was having a laugh.

He was.

Yeah, it was good.

Did you see his post-game snake shirt thing? Because he was asked about the Shea 20-point game, and so that's why I saw that. He's wearing this. It's snake. in terms of texture, but it's like whitey blue. That's the wildest shirt I've ever seen Jalen Williams wear. He's not that kind of guy, but this is... That's an interesting shirt.

That's a shirt, man. I mean, the texture is like shining and sort of shimmery. Cool guy, though.

Little bite. Let's go to little bite of the night.

We'll do it right here because we just talked about those two games and it's got to go to somebody that played one of those games and it goes to Tyrese Maxey who scored a game high 32 points. Shot 12 of 23 from the floor, 6 of 8 from the line, 6 assists, 3 boards, 2 steals in 42 minutes. Tyrese Maxey, as we've said before, one of the rare guys in the NBA who gets faster as the game goes on. He gets more energized the more minutes he plays, and I'm convinced he'd be a really good marathon runner or long-distance runner. Maxey gets Will Boy of the night. Okay, let's get into the... Up-down report.

Been a while. First topic. Anthony Davis had a great game. Great game here for Washington. But I want to hear from you guys what you think about his post-game press conference because he got on the mic and he kind of asked a little bit more from Washington fans and he ended it with a really good joke. Here it is.

We're being honest. You know, like a little bit more impact in there. Yeah. But, I mean, obviously what we had was, you know, the crowd was great. They were into it and they got us over to home good. You know, it was some guys on our team who's been here for a little bit and was like, we haven't had this in a little bit.

So, it was good. Even when I.

Came last year, you know, the very first home game.

Just like a seat night. He's looking around.

He's like, damn, I got a good reaction to that joke.

I think he was thinking, should I drop this?

Should I drop this?

He dropped it. He got it.

He almost had like a kawaii-like laugh out there. So your take on Anthony Davis, up or down on Anthony Davis, asking a little bit more from Washington fans, Trey.

I love it. Yeah, I thought that was nice. That was a funny joke. Is that the funniest Anthony Davis has been?

Yeah, that's why I included him. Like, we need this. We need this.

Look, I haven't watched every episode of his prank show. I know the name of it. I definitely know the name of his prank show that I watch. And it's got two seasons now.

Yeah.

What is it? Pranking. Pranking with AD.

How do they spell it?

No? No, no. AD's Pranks?

Prank E-N? No, I don't know.

I know it. I definitely know that.

You got Cooper?

Big Pranks with AD. No, keep going.

Think of a basketball, you know, call.

Teed up. Nope. I think you're in the right area. Flagrant.

Ooh, really close. Take it down a notch from flagrant.

Technical.

No, even less down.

Personal?

Common foul? Foul play. I love that shit. I'm just like constantly watching it. So I got catch up on season two, but I think this is the funniest he's been, but he's kind of right. He's basically like, if you build it, they will come. I did a little research. The Washington wizards have had three months in the last four seasons where they finished over 500 in the month.

Wow.

So there hasn't been a ton to cheer for in Washington. We're always talking about them having a late arriving crowd to begin with, even like during the wall and BL days when they were the best they have been recently. If they can win some games, if they can be an exciting team like they were in game one, people will start, start showing up more.

Yeah.

I'm up as well.

I mean, he's right.

First off.

And you know, the joke was pretty good. Um, Like we have talked more about the Washington Wizards. I feel like in three days worth of shows this season than we did of all of last season. Like I think it's pretty comparable and that's a good thing. That's a good sign. And obviously you bring some talent in and you start showing a little heart here. It can maybe win some games.

It's good.

You want to be on no dunks. You want to be on all these other shows. So yeah, I got no issue with it. And they were, they were chanting MVP by the way, for Anthony Davis.

Yes.

Like in that game, I was watching that wizards game and I was like, Oh yeah, all right, this is good. And the crowd is into it. So they need something to cheer for.

Yes.

And it's playing hard. You putting up 32 and them winning some games here.

So keep it going. If you wanted to ridicule what Anthony Davis said, it would be he got MVP chance. He walked off the floor and said, you know what? It would be nice if it was a little more full.

You could hear it.

He was kind of scaling it back a little bit. He wasn't delivering it like, hey, I want more fans. But he was a little quiet about it, and it wasn't just the quality of the audio that I grabbed from the internet. I did want to ask everybody out there, up or down on the quality of the audio of that.

How much work did you do? Did you put into finding a better clip?

Is there one?

I called....

The arena. And I said, hey, I'm looking for anything on any hard drive. I mean, there isn't a lot. There wasn't a lot out there. See, that's weird, isn't it? That they wouldn't have just a whole press conference.

Yeah, exactly.

Oh, well, you're asking me, and now I probably could have looked harder.

Okay, I'm just saying.

What's the Washington Wizards website media, specific media tab? Maybe it could have been there.

Anyway.

Because sometimes they put up every, that's what I mean.

Yeah, that's what I mean.

Yeah, that's probably my bad. That's probably my bad. I was taking it.

But then again, maybe they're like, you take that down. He's sort of ripping on her.

Okay.

Topic number two, let's see some picks. These are good quality picks of some jerseys. Check these out here if you're with us on YouTube. We're evaluating the Brooklyn Nets ABA inspired uniforms and court. And if you're a listener, I will be happy to paint a picture of these Nets jerseys. They're basically a classic white, red, and blue look.

It's all white. The Nets font on there, you can tell it's from a very long time ago. Then you get the stripes going down the sides of the jerseys, down to the shorts, all the way to the bottom of the shorts. And like those classic Nets jerseys way back when they've got Alibaba as the sponsor. Classic, baby.

That's what the ABA stood for.

Alibaba Association.

So up or down on the Brooklyn Nets, Alibaba Association-inspired uniforms in court. Now, let's get an up and down on just the ABA-inspired jerseys. Both the court and the uniform skeets.

We're doing both together here?

You want to separate them?

No. Let's throw the court up. You might as well, JD. Yeah, do you want to paint this picture?

Nah.

You want to paint this three-point line area?

It's pretty simple.

I'm up on these overall. I like the uniforms probably a little bit more than I like the floor. The floor's just got a lot going on.

Very colorful.

Very colorful, but then elements of their... you know, regular court, I would say, you know, I know you need the Barclay center there and sort of the design pattern, but, um, I love the jerseys.

Yeah.

I think they're, they're really, really sharp. Um, well done here on the ABA inspired throwback.

Yeah. As far as the court, they, they do use the rest of the court, not, not underneath a three point line pretty often.

Right.

As a, like, like the actual.

The whole, the whole court, the three point line, but not the lane.

No, no, no, no. Outside the three-point line. Beyond, like, from three-point line to three-point line, basically. Just the regular court. Most of the court, everything outside of the three-point arc, they used that before.

Well, not the center court, though, with the red.

Blue, and.

No, not the center court. But like you're saying, they need to.

Oh, the herringbone, yeah. The herringbone, yeah.

That's what I meant.

That's what I'm saying. That's why I feel like there's almost too much going on.

Yeah, it is more gray, and that's true.

It does feel to me. Different and like it looks older like it looks like it would be from the aba days with the extreme color there's like little flags on the outside of the logo as well when you think about what the nets usually wear they're a very minimal aesthetic from the colors to just the design on the court things are very clean and this is definitely a lot more gaudy in a 70s way so i like it and i'll say those are some chunky chunky side stripes on these jerseys quite wide Yeah.

And the only thing with who they played there in their opener, the Hornets colors sort of, they clash quite a bit with everything going on in this photo here, but that's no fault of the Nets.

Yeah. So thumbs up. Thumbs up all around. I thought you might like the logo there, Trey, because you're a fan of the ABA ball.

I do love it.

They put that little ball behind the B there on the score bug. Yeah, you're right about the, I call them racing stripes, but in comparison to what people are putting out racing stripes on, On clothing now, those are thick in comparison. Yeah, way back when, I guess they were thick. Topic number three here. It refers to the Blazers' big win on Wednesday when they absolutely demolished. the Phoenix Suns. Now, we're doing an up and down basically on us and how we didn't discuss it. That's the thing. People came out and said, hey, give the Blazers some more love.

They just got Damian Lillard back, and.

They've had such a.

Damian Lillard played well, I should say, in his first game back, and They've been going through so much this offseason. Just give them a little love, sir. Up or down on no dunks, not talking enough about the Portland Trailblazers.

What did I say when I started that segment? What did I say?

The show, basically the entire show. Yeah, we're not going to get to every game.

Yeah.

We will not be able to get to every single game from last night.

And then you said, yeah, we will. You watch. We will.

And we did in the end. A little bit, but not enough. You're never going to please everybody.

So I'm down. Sorry. Stick around. We'll talk more about the Blazers. I'm up. We should have given them more love. Yeah, we really should have. I mean, Dane Lillard is back and he actually played well. John Morant made his debut and he actually played well. Yeah. Kling Kong. hitting threes. That's exactly what you wanted to see as a Blazers fan.

But unfortunately for them, they played the late game and they blew out the Suns by 50 points. So they weren't getting drafted on. It's just one game, but it was just one game, but they look good.

Yeah. It was a lot of teams that played that night and there were closer games and that was the issue. But as you said, a lot of reasons to be excited about this team. When they start 21 zip, they started a game 21-0 and they Yeah, a lot of guys hitting threes. They shot 47 threes. And that's the beauty of this team. We wondered, okay, are the guards going to all work well together? And if they're all participating like they did on that night, getting up threes, getting up shots, then they look great. John Morant literally dove to the floor.

He was playing hard.

He was.

He started, too. That was a weird thing, right? It was like at 3 o'clock he wasn't starting. By 4 o'clock he was starting. Yeah, that was odd. He did end up starting.

That is very odd. If there is anything behind that, who knows? But yeah, they're doing lots of great stuff. And people, you know, on the other side, you can say, well, the sun's off to a terrible start to go down 21-0 after such a good season. You can talk about that. But either way, we talked about it a little bit, I guess.

Get ready for more of this on Monday's show because the Blazers, I just checked, have one game this weekend. It's Friday night tonight. They play the Sacramento Kings.

Oh, yeah.

So they're going to win and or probably should win. And then they don't have another game, oddly, you know, for the rest of the weekend. So it's like, is anybody going to be picking the Blazers as a winner of the weekend if they win? Probably not is my point. And then Blazers fans are going to be upset.

That's good. If they win by 40 again, I think they'll get drafted.

Against the Kings on a Friday night?

Yeah, but I mean, you start the season off with two 40-point blowouts. It's probably some sort of history, I would imagine. I did see DeMontis Sabonis was calling out Darius Acuff, literally for what we said on the show yesterday. They're like, too many one-shot, no-pass possessions. It'd be better if I had the ball more, is basically what he's saying, and let me make the decisions. Don't shoot it every time.

After one game.

Yeah. He's right, though. Acuff did not want to pass. He might have had some assists, but that was on accident, I think.

He's been called out twice now.

Yeah. In the preseason.

A preseason call out. That's the unfortunate part. And I guess maybe that's why the Brooklyn Nets decided Michael Brown over Darius Aykoff. Because talent wise, you see Darius Aykoff and he's got it all. He's got it all in the bag. But maybe it's a little too much about his own bag and not about everybody else's bag.

Kings play, like I said. the Blazers tonight, and then they have the Grizzlies coming to visit them on Sunday. So I'm just saying maybe the Kings will be on Monday's show as a potential loser of the weekend. Or maybe they'll surprise us. We need some Ws.

I think we really need that Grizzlies one. We just need 21. We need 21. We got to start with one. Yeah.

We'll see.

We'll see what happens.

Yeah, but if we don't talk about the Blazers, please. If you're out there and you're mad about it, please let us know because it's great to get skeets mad about it in general.

I love the engagement, too. I mean, you're tricking the YouTube algorithm.

Oh, please. We need that.

I'm going to purposely not talk about the Blazers all season long.

Okay.

Last up or down topic. It's the classic who he play for that we see on TNT. Now, we're not going to play the entire clip. Don't have the right to know. We're not going to play entire clip because it is long. The beauty of it is it was super long. And we'll get into that. But just up or down on the who he play for from TNT.

Not TNT anymore, unfortunately.

I don't care. On Aspen, I say it was long because they rolled it back. They got Charles to do it not once. Not twice, but three times of the same five guys. Did it go well? Was it good? Was it good to hear it three times? Let's get your take, Skeets.

Absolutely up. This might be the funniest who he played for of all time. And that's saying something because this is a usually lights out bit from the inside crew. It pops every year because of them testing Chuck's knowledge of where these guys now play for. But the fact that they ran it back... The second time was funny alone.

And then I couldn't believe it when they're like, let's do it a third time.

And I was like, uh-oh.

Which Inside is known to do from time to time. Oh, no, they're going to ruin the bit now by overdoing it. And it didn't because Chuck still screwed up on two of the names. I think it was Buddy Heald and Aaron Wiggins.

Aaron Wiggins, yeah.

Incredible you know they still got their fastball these guys from time to time and it was i think it may have been the best it was so damn.

Funny it was really really funny uh starting with chuck being like it's not fair to do this the first week of the season he's like i'm not paying attention over the summer how could i possibly know from one night of hoops who everybody is and then funny the second time and when he got to buddy healed and guessed atlanta hawks again The studio went crazy.

That was so funny. The pop was amazing.

They'll do it again next week. I bet they will do it with the same guys. Probably. The same guys. Next week.

Probably. Or the next time they're on, yeah.

Sure, whatever. Yeah, who knows when that is. Christmas, maybe. Maybe.

I think we gotta give credit to Shaq, too, for this. Because he seems to be the one, after they play it, and Shaq goes 0 for 5. Actually, 0 for 6, right? If they include the classic Garrett Temple, which was like a... bit of a joke because they always do him but now he's a coach anyway Shaq goes I bet we could do it again and he won't get it Shaq says it first and then I bet somebody obviously uh up in the booth or whatever the producer's like you know what we got time let's do it again that's actually a hilarious idea and then they tell her I think so Shaq gotta give credit to Shaq.

On this that was bang on I mean how can you not know that Mo Wagner plays for the Brooklyn Nets he is one of the only pair of teammates that have a mutual option in their contract. Him and Keon Ellis. How do you not know that? I mean, these names are hard, though, dude.

The first go is fair enough. It's going to be tough.

It's going to be tough.

The first time, it was Moe Wagner.

But he just watched it, and then he couldn't still get them.

Yeah, that was hilarious.

I felt, like, proud for Chuck when he got Torian Prince the third time with Pistons, and they're like, yeah!

Yeah!

You did it, man. You paid attention. Okay, can I throw this out?

Story of Prince would be a hard one. Can I throw out the theory, though? Is Chuck so funny that he is doing it on purpose?

I don't think so.

Wow, wow. We need a Nathan Fielder documentary all about it.

I know this is a you-can-see-everything type of vibe here, but is he actually like, you know, it would be funny if I just pretend I can't remember Buddy Hield is on the Bulls.

I don't think so. I don't. I guess it's in play.

I guess. That was good. That was very good. That was too good.

Uptown report. Good to have it back in our lives.

I was going to go worst of the week, but then we decided to go this way. I do want to mention one guy who could have easily won worst of the week because we talked about Anthony Edwards how he went off for 45 points and he was yapping at somebody on the heat bench. And we said it could have been Myron Gardner who did the same thing last year against his now teammate, did it against Klay Thompson.

His assistant coach pulled him out of his seat at halftime and said, Karan Butler did this. He said, hey, go talk to him, young man. You're the rook. Go talk to him with a little bit of respect. And he did it again to Anthony Edwards. Now, he's a second-year player. He's supposed to learn. And Anthony Edwards said, part of why I got off was because Myron Gardner.

was going at me. So ridiculous.

Yeah, you had a couple like sort of like last second, it almost felt like worst of the week nominees coming in there because that the officials did admit that LaMelo Ball traveled.

To two extra steps.

I think so.

So there's that.

That could have been a funny one. And then, well, good old James Dolan. We're getting a hilarious story out of New York there with what he was doing in the rings for Some staff members and then a whole other like phishing email thing to see if they could catch some people on how they're using their corporate email.

Yeah, that story goes crazy. I know. You're like, wow, that's sad that they're not getting their rings on ring night. I was I was feeling for the assistant coaches and all the other staffers who are like, yeah, maybe we'll get them later, but we should probably be able to put them on with everybody. That would be way more fun.

And then once you get to the phishing part, I know it was like a sting operation using these rings to catch the people just because they're bad at cybersecurity. And suddenly now they got to click through a thousand slides and answer these dumb questions. Oof.

Tough stuff. So that's good reporting from Joe Varden to find that out.

The phishing part.

Yeah, the phishing part. Because that's a common thing. Your IT guy sends those out. This is a test. But when it's a ring.

That's devious.

When it's a ring, yeah, they got you.

They got you.

Hey, man, that's some good IT department work.

Well, what about not giving rings to people.

On the staff? Okay, that part, they are going to give them to them. Okay. Also, Jason from Beverly Hills can only produce so many rings. He's producing one for every player, one for the coach.

Only had all summer.

Yeah, it was also part of the article was that other coaching staffs have gone through the same thing.

Yeah, yeah.

But as Joe said, seven of that, was it seven guys? Seven people, seven names. Seven people were asked, and they all said we were peeved and irritated by that fact. And we thought we were getting them, essentially.

Yeah.

So I get it, but they are getting it. So all good.

All right, that's the UpDown Report. Let's get into Pick'Em.

So tonight's game is Rockets-Spurs. A little Texas tango here between these two squads. And the Spurs are at home and they're favored by five and a half. And Tass and Trey, you guys are taking the Spurs, leaving me to take the Houston Rockets with some points to play with as the Dawg.

Why are you rolling with the Spurs trick? To me, it's a bounce back for Wemby, essentially.

Exactly. It's a bounce back. They didn't play their best, I thought, in game one. Certainly not Wemby. And he tends to follow up a stinker with a pretty good game. And, you know, they're down at the bottom of the Western Conference. They need to win bad. Very badly.

Yeah, that's definitely what I was thinking, too. They do have some injuries. NBA staying on the injury report. Fox is questionable. Kellen Johnson is questionable. Terrace... Harris Tobias Harris is still out so does that play a part I think the other guys will come through in the Rockets I think they will play them well but I do expect a bounce back for the Spurs.

Yeah I'm obviously hoping for a close game here with the Rockets as the dog like I said also last night I thought that backdoor cover was gonna happen TK you got it with OKC winning by nine or more but Nuggets started splashing threes there at the end And it.

Was like, oh, they might do it. They might do it.

But then somebody on the Thunder hit a corner three.

And that ended the possibility.

I forget who took it.

If they had missed that, there would have been a really good chance to backdoor cover.

I'm one and two. Trey's one and two. Tass, two and one here in the very short month of October.

Or we haven't decided to pick and pay off yet.

Yeah.

Seems like candy corn or like the worst Halloween candy is a front runner.

Though there was a.

a suggestion about something called the bean shoe.

Oh, the old bean shoe.

Do you want to explain what the bean shoe is?

Well, I mean, just like the comment says, everybody knows about it. You fill a shoe with the beans, and then you have to wear it.

So you fill a shoe with, like, Heinz beans?

It could be Bush baked beans. But they've got to be baked beans. Oh, baked beans, okay. Put some baked beans in a shoe, somebody's got worse.

What is this, foul play with Anthony Davis?

Gotcha. You know what the prank is? I knew the name all the time. Whoa.

We've got the image of foul play. What a photo. Yeah, look at that.

Do you think that's sort of a play on the classic Anthony Davis where he's peering around the wall? Because that to me was the funniest thing Anthony Davis has done before maybe these comments about the seating arrangement.

Now, people reminded me of the It's All Folks sweater here in the stream team. Remember when he wore the It's All Folks shirt when he was done with New Orleans? That's pretty solid.

See how it's funny?

I mean, you know, it's both painful and funny.

Yeah, it's true.

Yeah, I liked it.

All right.

Let's get into rapid fire questions because it's the drop. TK, you got the questions.

We got the answers. Oh, the Wizards pranked their players, including Anthony Davis.

Oh.

The pranker becomes the pranked. And he thought it never happened to him. Nonetheless, they did it at media day by having the Wizards read promos for fake theme nights that don't actually exist, like swimsuit night, dance battle night, Bub Carrington night. Right. Ask the players about Bub Carrington.

Why are we doing a night for him? Good question. Pretty funny. Guys, what's a fake theme night that the team should actually use? I'll go Survivor Night.

Yeah. I was thinking you could have Survivor Legends could compete in challenges throughout the game, like during breaks in play. Sort of keep maybe a running score. We could have a Jeff Probst lookalike contest on said Survivor Night. And then Half Court Shot, they usually give.

Away, you know, sometimes $ 1, 000, $ 5, 000, TV. Give away like a trip to Fiji. Cool.

On Survivor Night.

Sure.

I was going to say a million bucks at first.

Not these days.

Or two million if we flip a Mr. Beast coin, but a trip to Fiji would be fun.

Of course.

Fiji Airways could sponsor this, so Survivor Night.

Oh, yeah. That's good. Yeah, you get Fiji water as a sponsor.

Easy, Dave DeFore.

We never know.

I think people get it. You know, we saw a photo of Dave DeFore holding a Fiji water bottle from seven years ago. Right. Let's just kick it around in there.

I just I just want to hold one of those bottles. It's nice to hold.

Fiji's bottle is a square. Yeah.

Yeah.

Is it a rectangle?

Good.

Same thing.

OK.

Sorry.

Sorry.

Good and bad.

Hold.

Awesome.

I agree.

Yeah.

Not great for the car.

Probably not.

Not great for the cup holder.

I think we do have one of those Carvana cup holders. Oh, Jesus.

Oh, God.

So many names. Okay. The fake theme night that I would love is bring your ex night.

Okay.

You literally show up at the arena with an ex-partner, ex-girlfriend, ex-boyfriend.

Okay.

Because our world should be more about bringing people together rather than separating them. And this will inspire other people and other people. governmental departments to look across the aisle um we don't need to defy it anymore we need to bring things together so it's.

It's a relearn kiss cam could get awkward oh nice.

One very awkward be fighting over free t-shirts thrown out in the crowd yeah yeah.

You know what was really awkward uh they used to do the sanitizer cam for like during covid yeah yes yes for like A month or something?

What was that?

It was basically jizz flying in people. That was awkward.

And it looked like, yeah, sanitizer's coming at you.

Oh, my God.

That might be, that's weirder, I think. But if the exes get put on the kiss cam, a firm handshake. And that's two people coming together like it should be.

Okay. They should really do firm handshake cams anyway. It's like, that would be funny. Just stand up, have a couple of shakes. We did that.

We're smart, man.

We did, yeah.

We've done so much.

The only reason I know that is playing on our No Dunks live station right now, we did fake cams. We did do that.

You're right, you're right.

And one of them was literally two guys doing a firm handshake.

Yeah, that's why I remember the hand sanitizer cam, because we also have, well, we have that as part of our weekend whoopsies anyway. okay anyway but it's part it's part of our 24 7 classic station right you're in that kind of good jd.

Jd what do you got here for a fake theme night.

Uh i think this could is going to speak to some of our audience uh including myself uh introvert night okay i know no kiss cams no audience cams at all okay if there is that if there's a jam playing that's just the People going, I enjoy this tune. You know?

Not standing up.

No standing. No, no, no, no, no, no.

None of that. No, make some noise.

No, make some noise. There will be.

No, everybody clap your hands.

None of that.

None of that.

Just enjoying the basketball game. You know, the players would hate it because it would be the quietest it would ever be. Yeah. But there's some people who don't like to leave the house because they don't like the flashing lights and they don't like attention. Right? So let's make it about the players.

Yeah, that's it. Okay, introvert night. Every once in a while they do it like a night where they don't play any in arena music, right? So this is just taking it to the next level. A decibel meter that says shh. Not too loud.

I like it. That's a good one.

Victor Wembanyama wasn't able to ride any rides at Six Flags when the Spurs recently went. Apparently he's too tall for the coasters. yeah i didn't know there was a height maximum but it makes sense.

I mean you could clip your head on some of those tunnels.

And stuff yeah better safe than sorry guys what's something else that wemby is too tall for horse jockey no right you can fred flintstone a horse maybe.

Okay so this is my answer i think it's a good answer but then i went down a rabbit hole i went down a horse hole i guess here uh tallest professional jockey ever you guys want to take a guess professional jockey 24 year old guy from warwick england how tall do you think he was six feet okay i'm going over six one okay over was the right way six four oh that's yeah this is such a funny quote from this guy or at least from an article i read born and raised in a horse mad family andrews his name was jack andrews was devastated when he had a growth spurt late in his teenage years he believed it was the end of his potential career as a jockey wow sort of funny like all of us when we were younger like you're praying for the

growth spurt yeah That's all I wanted when I was 13, 14 years old. And this guy's the opposite.

I never thought about it. Should have taken up smoking at age.

12 or something.

But I'm not done here. The tallest person to ever enter a horse race was... He's a former NBA center.

Shaq.

Manute Bull. Bull was granted a license by the Indiana Horse Racing Commission for a charity event to raise money. For the country of his birth, South Sudan. And the ride took place just like north of Indianapolis in the fall of 2003. But Manute Bull did not race due to problems with his arthritis. So we never saw him.

There's a photo of Manute Bull standing next to a horse dressed as a jockey. So they got the photo for the charity of it all, but he never rode it. So we never saw it like Flintstone style or something like that.

Yeah. Too bad.

Anyway, sorry.

That was a lot there for rapid fire.

It would be a little dangerous. I mean, he was a very, very large man.

Yeah.

Getting tossed off, just like Wemby on a roller coaster.

Yeah.

I didn't think there was a Max, but I guess it does make sense.

Yeah.

There was a local story here in Atlanta. Somebody flew off and died from a Six Flags roller coaster recently.

Yeah.

I love roller coasters, but every time I see one of those, I'm like, man, do I love them that much?

That specific one?

Well, just like, I mean, shit happens up there. All right, what do you got?

For me, Victor Wambanyama shouldn't go in European showers. I mean, he's too tall for them. Good one. He's too tall.

He is French. Yeah.

How did he do it?

How did he do it?

I think he was, I think he had a good situation, probably. I don't know.

What do you mean?

I mean, he was like playing on club teams when he was super young and still super tall. He probably was all crunched in there.

You're right.

Every single time? Yeah, that's a good question. In those European showers, how do you wash your face? I mean, how do you wash your hair if you're Victor Wamenyama? Specifically, he's too big.

They do have a lot of handhelds. They do a lot of that because of the cramped conditions.

I love a good handheld.

Do you?

You got one?

That's the first thing I do if I'm looking at a property. I don't care what the rest of it is.

Give me a handheld.

If I'm moving, do you have a showerhead that's handheld? Also, I'm not taking this place.

And then they go, you know you can install one.

Just install it. That's what I end up doing after fighting about the house with my wife. I say, okay, we'll install one. People like bidets, sure. But nothing beats a good body wash with a handheld.

The wand.

The wand. Wand is a good word, yeah.

Very nice.

JD, what's something Wemby's too tall for?

I got a couple. I'm getting excited for Gilded Age coming out November 1st.

This is a movie?

No, it's a show. It's Julian Fellowes.

They're bringing it back.

They're bringing it back, yeah. But they enjoy Sherry on the show every once in a while. Downton Abbey. The glass for Sherry, tiny. It looks like a tiny wine glass.

Right.

In Victor's hands?

Yeah.

Like, it's just way too small.

How would he even hold it?

I mean, like, it would be like a toy tea set almost. You know what I mean?

Yeah.

Okay, so there's that. And then my other one is the witness protection program. He couldn't.

How do you hide him?

He can't hide him. He's very conspicuous.

So true. That's a great point.

Wow, I never thought about that either.

I mean, imagine he's like a cashier at a Walmart in the witness protection program. You can't. He's immediately recognizable.

What if they send in, like, Harrison Ford witness? He has to go live on an Amish farm.

Interesting. Even more conspicuous, I would say.

Probably so.

I mean, he's been a Shaolin monk. You'd have to go somewhere there, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Off-grid.

Yeah. After some spirited trash-talking, Luka Doncic banked in a half-court shot, just to spite Warriors rookie... Yaxel Lendeborg. Guys, when is a time you've gone out of your way to embarrass someone who is younger than you?

I guess doing magic tricks for my young nieces and going out of my way to embarrass them just means I'm not really doing magic. I've got a ball under, let's say, a cup or a hat on the table. They can't see because they're young. I just slide that far enough over, drop it in my hand, reveal it.

It's not there.

I'm like, you fools.

You fools. And they think it's the greatest thing in the world.

Sounds awesome.

This guy at prank show. Yeah, exactly.

Only for four- and five-year-old nieces.

You're so easy to fool.

Yeah, that was my answer for this one.

Good one.

I took my kid to the gym just trying to check in. Computers were down. Employee there goes, can you. I'll just have to write down your name. What's your name? And I say, I'm the task man. So my child, very embarrassed. But also the employee there, who's pretty young, also embarrassed. Wow, embarrassed for you. Yeah, that's a good move.

I mean, he didn't know what scat man, so he was weirded out by that, I think. My kid just Just embarrassed. But she likes that song.

I didn't sing it well.

I didn't really sing it well.

I thought you were going to say Peter Vagina.

Exactly.

I thought he was going to make up a fake name for his daughter to embarrass her.

Oh, that would be hilarious. Yeah, I should have done that.

Yeah, because you've done Peter Vagina before at like.

Starbucks and stuff like that?

No, I don't do that.

Oh, I thought you did. I don't do that. Yeah, are you pranking us? You're ADing us right now.

Maybe I did once.

I used the name Peter.

You've done it.

Well, I think you guys are conflating.

Like a hotel room check-in?

You guys are conflating.

Yeah, we could be conflating.

Yeah. That's yeah, that's my go-to is a fake name Peter, but my old mid email Account was Peter Peter budget.

That was using our buddy Ryan sentence account for some I.

What a weird time.

You're a mystery man. You really are. Fantastic.

Peter underscore vagina. I think there's underscores in that too.

Peter underscore Peter underscore vagina at hotmail.com.

That was Yahoo. Oh, Yahoo. See, I needed a Yahoo. We had a Hotmails.

Why are you sharing email address? No, I wasn't. You said we.

We.

Yeah.

Why I'm saying we. Because these are back in the day when we needed things to be done for our podcast. So now I'm. conflating i'm using the term we but i don't need hold on.

You were emailing people on behalf of our podcast he was i remember this peter underscore vagina no it wasn't.

Barry fisher this explains a lot at least that one sounds.

That's a good memory jd very good memory yeah because we had uh a facebook page barry fisher was the hotmail account i was using for that Had to send messages to people. Yeah, we built this thing one by one.

One user by one. We built this show off the back of Barry Fisher. PeterbyPeter.com.

Yeah.

Barry and Peter. Yeah.

We were using people's data. Like Mark Zuckerberg today in 2026. We were using it back in 2006. I'm kidding.

What were we doing with it? What do you mean?

No, we weren't doing it.

Oh, okay.

We weren't doing anything.

I didn't think so either. I just want to make a Mark Zuckerberg joke.

Yeah, yeah. I mean, yes, which is acceptable. That's allowed. But I just want to make a Mark Zuckerberg joke. A $ 25 billion settlement happening.

Yeah. Yes.

Billion.

Bail it with a B.

With a B. With a B like bajama.

JD, take us home here, man, and answer this question.

Occasionally you'll see 20 or 30-year-olds who have tried pickleball for the first time, and they will lament the fact that they got beaten by a fat, out-of-shape old guy with knee braces. That's me. They've been beaten by me.

Yeah.

Yeah, yeah.

They come in and they think they're going to dominate. And they do not. It's a game of skill, boys. I'm playing chess, and they're trying to play tennis. None of those apply. Oh, interesting.

I explained that.

Yes.

So there you go.

That's how you embarrass them. You wear double knee braces?

I'm actually not wearing knee braces, but I do wear– I've taken to wear a little thing around my– My elbow, I guess, had a pickleball elbow.

Pickle elbow.

It's embarrassing.

It's a real thing, though, I would assume.

It is.

It is, yeah.

That's Rapid Fire.

Not so rapid, is it? Never is, but it's always fun. Hopefully it's fun. You tell us by leaving us a like, commenting away, sharing the show, subscribing, five-star ratings and reviews. 27 NBA games on this weekend.

You heard me.

Wow, wow, wow.

You heard me. Yep.

And we got the World Series.

Tonight.

And we got the WNBA Finals.

Game four tomorrow.

Anybody going?

Down to the Fortress?

Tickets are expensive right now.

I know, I know.

I think I left it too long.

In State Farm.

Yeah. Oh, yeah.

That's a lot of seats.

Sold out, baby.

Maybe buy them during first quarter. That's the key.

That's your thing.

My new thing yeah buying tickets after the event it's.

A good move it's a good move um bulls bucks play at 4 p.m eastern today because of the world series see that i did see that yeah they bumped it i didn't.

Realize it was because of the world series but it's in.

Milwaukee yep yep yep yep so the basketball gets started in yeah like five hours from now and then it goes all weekend and we will be back on monday to do winners and losers of the nba weekend that's a classic here in no dunks land always one of our favorite shows so hopefully you'll join us at 10 a.m eastern.

You think Ernie Johnson would have us over at his house to watch the Milwaukee Tampa game? He's a big Milwaukee. That's where he's from.

I think if he was having a get-together, he would let us come.

Yeah.

I think Ernie Johnson has just joined the YouTube streets.

YouTube?

I think he has started a YouTube channel. We've got to get Ernie on the show.

32 Bowties?

Yes.

Yeah, that's exactly right.

Who do you think? Razor Brewers?

I was just going to ask that.

Baseball boy? Come on, man. A little baseball man? Baseball boy?

Buddy?

It's like these two teams are looking in the mirror, because they're very similar teams, so it's hard to pick one. I'm taking the Brewers, though.

Okay.

I'm not a Tampa fan.

I'm not either, but I think Tampa Bay's going to win.

Really?

Yeah. Junior Caminero. I do, I do.

But I'm not cheering for them. In fact, if I was cheering for any of the two teams, I would be cheering for Milwaukee.

Yeah, that's my take.

Okay.

Where are you going? Brew Crew. Brew Crew, okay. Yeah, that's time.

JD, you got a thought on the World Series?

I am rooting for the Brewers.

I mean, okay. So all four of us are really rooting for them.

I guess I'm swerving.

Saying the Rays are going to do it.

It's weird.

I don't know. It's weird.

It's starting today.

Was there a long break? Yeah. Dodgers got swept for a long time.

That's why it feels that way.

But Tampa finished up earlier this week. Wednesday, Tuesday. Okay.

Sports man. Bears won sports.

Yeah, they did.

Yeah, I did.

Cairo Santos, a 58 yard field goal. I literally didn't think he had it in him. He missed the 52 yarder. That guy can't kick far, but career long to win the game.

I know we're going long, but do you think these kickers are just, are they too good now? These kickers can kick the shit out of this thing.

These kickers be kicking. These kickers be kicking. I'm serious. I've heard some people like, I don't know.

We've got to maybe change this up somehow or something.

It's true. You can get points from the other side of the field.

It's pretty wild.

It's pretty wild. But the Bears have not had a guy like that. Santos doesn't have a big leg, so that's why it was a shocker. Great. But, you know, they're going to win the Super Bowl, so you've got to make some kicks. Damn. Yeah, you do. You've got to have a kick.

All right.

American League Championship Series ended Monday. Just wanted you to know.

That's a long break. It is a long break, then.

Three days. Not in baseball.

That's a long break for those guys.

They're going to be rusty.

Could be a sloppy game tonight. Take the over on errors.

So true.

And walks.

Clever Bros, please. You heard it here first. Have a great time. Turn up. Love you guys. Awesome.

Thanks for joining us. And remember, there are how many games this weekend?

27.

Yep.

Just wanted to hear that number again. It's a lot.

Brace the weekend, people. there is

0:00 / 0:00
