Alcaraz Ready to Rule NYC, Father Time Catching Novak? | US Open Something Major Round 1 | EP 209

On this first episode of Something Major from the US Open, Sam, John, and Stevie recap all the first-round action, starting with Novak Djokovic’s shocking five-set loss to Navone after looking physically unwell and vomiting on court. The guys debate whether age or illness is behind his recent struggles before breaking down Carlos Alcaraz’s straight-sets win over Safiullin, Tsitsipas’ comeback against Arthur Fils, and Stan Wawrinka’s final major match in a loss to Berrettini.
The crew also runs through the American roundup, with Ben Shelton surviving a rough start, Frances Tiafoe escaping in five, and Learner Tien, Brandon Nakashima, and Alex Michelsen cruising through. Plus, they preview key second-round matchups, make bracket updates, and bring the late-night “Ron Burgundy” name-reading chaos.
