From Hollywood to you.

Thank you for listening to us.

Ryan Seacrest.

Seacrest.

On air, on air, on.

Air with Ryan Seacrest.

102.7 KISS FM. All right. Who's got the screwdriver?

I've been passing a screwdriver. You know, I have to tell you something. You don't see me work much with tools.

I don't think I've ever seen you hold a tool until this point.

That's so interesting.

I don't think anyone close to me has ever seen me really hold a tool. If I use a tool, I usually use my tools in private. But this, I'm going to do. Tubbs, you just stay seated and have your brunch. I'm going to tighten my microphone.

Because it is loose. I don't know who is in here doing twists with it, but. Let me just.

What screwdriver is this? Ronnie, what screwdriver? Do you know which one this is?

I think it's a flathead, maybe. Is it called a flathead?

Yeah.

Tubbs?

Correct.

Is it a flathead?

Yeah.

Ding, ding, ding. And is it a Phillips head that cross?

The other one?

That is correct. Is it Phillip or Phillips? And why is it named that?

Phillips.

Why is it named that? I think it was invented by a guy named Phillip.

Why don't you chat GPT and make yourself useful?

Henry Phillips.

I've corrected my microphone all on my own. What is the one tool that you've mastered?

Is it the wrench? Is it the screwdriver? What are you really good at? What's your tool talent?

Drill.

The drill. I don't know what bit to put in my wood.

I can handle a drill, figure out the bits, and adjust the speed of the drill because you don't want it too fast. It could go through the wall, all the things.

I'm going to deal with the drill. Do you have a tool talent?

So I'm just going to say this. They don't make tools for left-handed people. They're all for right-handed people.

What a benefit.

They have to make them.

Even scissors are really hard for me to use.

Don't call anybody and have them start making them for left-handed. They make left-handed scissors. I bought them for Sevilla.

I'm just saying it's a right-handed world and I'm just living in it.

Okay.

For tools to be right-handed. Good on. That's great. What a blessing. Don't speak up on that.

Yeah.

Honey, do you have a tool talent? I feel like mine is the Allen key. It's so easy to use. That's the bike seat key.

Yes.

Yeah.

That's also the one that comes with my key of furniture.

Right.

I mastered that one. My early days in Burbank, living with the Naz in a one bedroom. Oh, Okay, let's go. It is Tuesday, so that part's not the best, but we are paying your bills.

Got sunshine. It's going to be warm. Got mid-80s. This is Kiss. Good morning.

We have Jingle Ball tickets sold out coming up in a few minutes. So every hour, pay your bills. Every hour, Jingle Ball tickets. It's Tuesday the 27th. Halloween is four out.

Now, Ruby, this is interesting.

So, Ruby, do you ever have something in your home? The microwave flashing, right? You don't change the time. About to change the time coming up here to fall back. Something in your home that is so simple to do, but you don't do it because you're lazy. Ruby, this would drive me... When it does happen, it drives me crazy.

Yeah.

Your brother's smoke alarm is beeping?

Yeah, I feel like there's two kinds of people. The people that change it instantly and the people that let it ride for months. And they don't even notice it. Like, you walk in and you're like... why is it beeping?

And they're like, what do you mean?

It continues to chirp or beep.

You're just like, is the most, at least the microwave doesn't chirp. The chirp is annoying. I can't tell you how many times I've finally done all my routine. I have water picked. I have flossed.

I have moisturized. I have put my pillows in a fort.

I've crawled under my sheets, set the temperature low, taken a deep breath, and then a chirp.

Starts in the hallway.

Oh, the worst.

Now, what do you do? First, I curse.

I do.

Then I say, babe, go get it. And there's no one there.

So I go, and I have to get a stepladder. Now, that's the other part of it. A stepladder in the pantry.

Why the pantry?

To reach some of the treats sometimes. And I pull that out. To me, the smoke alarm can ruin, just fixing it can ruin your day. The battery always goes out at the worst time.

And you have to have the backup battery in the first place.

Well, the other thing where I let the battery just go and I'm too lazy to fix it is the battery in the remote. I'll twist that little number until I can get every piece of juice out of it.

Slap it.

Come on. Yes, I replaced it. It comes back to life.

It does come back to life.

You rotate it. It spins and the thing comes back for a week.

Yeah.

Why that only? Why does that not work with other batteries anywhere else? Only the remote control battery can be spun twice and give.

You a week's worth of life. That is so true. We're lazy. It's fine.

You need to be lazy sometimes. I don't do my iOS's for years. Now, how are they up to? What are they up to?

I'm on eight.

Yeah.

No, they're like on 27 or something.

Stop with the iOS. Just for me.

Olivia Dean on 102.7. It's Kiss FM. Seacrest here. Thanks for listening to us. Yeah, we got those amazing Seacrest seats for Archie while priority seating. Add our jingle ball for you to win only here this week in the morning. Now, have you ever, this is something that I've seen happen to comedians.

I'd be scared to death to be a stand-up comedian.

That to me would be the, I think that and Broadway would be the hardest jobs in entertainment.

I have a lot of respect for Broadway. That's live.

Totally.

How many shows a week? A couple of days a week.

They'll do like six shows a week.

Yeah.

And people don't boo you at that. But I see comedians get booed and I start to feel bad when you get a boo.

Well, the jokes don't land sometimes.

I was booed. You ever been booed? Anybody here been booed?

I have.

Has anybody been booed?

Me in the back room.

Jordan, you've been booed. Okay.

I was booed throwing out the first pitch at a St. Louis Cardinal game because I didn't make it to home plate.

I got booed. It fell short, and I got booed.

Yeah, but then you redeemed yourself. You did it again at Dodgers, didn't you?

Yeah, woo-hoo.

I don't know if that was redemption.

I went, woo-hoo.

I don't know that sports fans want me in their world. I don't know. Now, why did you get booed, Jordan?

Yeah, I got the opportunity to get on someone's shoulders during a music festival.

Sorry, what? The opportunity? What do you mean? Someone invited you to their stranger's shoulders? What?

I never got the chance to ever do that, and it was for Calvin Harris. I wanted to really embrace this moment, so I asked my friend if I could hop on his shoulders, and he said yes.

And you got booed because you were blocking other people.

What do you need to see? It's EDM music. You're just like dancing.

Lights, lights, lights.

We need to stare at Calvin.

And that's what.

I was thinking. I thought, I was like, okay, it's DJ.

No one really is trying.

And there's so many people on shoulders.

Exactly.

It's like a sea of people on shoulders.

The girl in front of me was on shoulders.

Sorry, the only time adults should be on shoulders is chicken.

In the pool.

Yes.

And EDM shows. Chicken in the pool. No, I would boo you too. Don't block me. Yeah, it was just for a second.

There's a DJ on stage. What are you trying to see? He's not doing much.

Oh, Mark just reminded me. I did not get booed at Dodger Stadium because they did not throw the ball. All I said was, it's time for Dodger baseball.

Woo-hoo.

Yeah.

In 102.7 KISS FM Los Angeles, I'm about to give you a quote of the day. And I was just saying to Cisney and Tanya, we're going to talk about this Halloween candy that's better and worse for your microbiome.

I almost said bones, but it's not micro bones. It's microbiomes.

Yes.

Not to be confused with micro bones for Halloween. All right. So that's about the gut.

It refers to the organisms, bacteria that reside inside your tract.

Word.

It's your gut, basically.

Hey, I made it easier to say that.

Yeah, okay.

So what's better or worse for your gut? Now, the best for your gut, Snickers.

I have heard that. Like, if you're hungry, it's almost better to eat a Snickers bar than, like, munch on other stuff.

Okay.

What?

Be careful there.

I'm just saying an emergency situation.

I'm going to test that in court.

Trust me.

Look it up.

I'm not trusting that it's better than other stuff. It's just a good one. Like a bag of chips?

Exactly. Bag of chips or a Snickers bar.

We're saying this glibly. We have no idea, but you've heard it's a decent one. I have heard. But look at the ingredients. Anyway, fine. Snickers. I get it. Almond Joy. I like coconut. Almond Joy.

I love Almond Joy Snickers. no that's a no for me coconut.

Number one best for your microbiomes thank you reese's i always thought.

Those were good it's like peanut butter chocolate best choices now your worst choice of the microbiome for the gut worst choice for lemon candy candy corn.

Ew i don't even know what it is yeah it's like wax licorice ropes oh yeah those are bad and a.

Bite-sized candy The bite-sized candy, the colorful bite-sized candy, Skittles. They're all probably not healthy, but some better than worse for your gut.

This is from science, not me. Eat them all. Enjoy.

LA's number one at Music Station, almost 7 o'clock in the morning, a second date update. Now, this is a little different. He got ghosted after six weeks and wants to know why. You ghost somebody after six weeks, you better provide a reason.

I agree.

There needs to be an alibi.

Well, that's not what ghosting is.

Ghost after six weeks.

Yes.

You've like probably spent a holiday together. Maybe someone's birthday.

Six weeks is a relationship.

It is.

It's a long time.

Okay.

So you need to tell the person why. And so I'm very anxious to address this head on with the ghoster to say, what's your deal?

Like, why are you so rude?

Yeah, that's good.

I'm gonna play that song.

Rude.

It's a good approach. Coming up.

All that.

Boy.

No, they're rude.

Why you gotta be so rude?

I forgot about that song.

Ryan loved.

I was thinking of Rihanna.

Get it right again. Rude, Rude, Rude Boy. No, this one.

Why you gotta be so rude?

Magic. You love magic.

I still love magic. I just couldn't remember it was magic.

Yeah.

All right, let's get to the headlines. Sisney, what's happening? Kiss FM headlines with Sisney.

Well, here we go.

A high tide of about 8.3 feet moved into Newport Beach yesterday, flooding streets, parking lots, and businesses along Balboa Peninsula. An even higher tide is expected today. A group of residents who live near the Hollywood sign have filed lawsuits against the city of L.A. asking officials to do more to control traffic, noise and safety problems in the neighborhood.

The Federal Trade Commission and the state of California is suing Dollar General, claiming the store charged customers more at the register than the prices listed on the items. And all the rumors were correct. Jay-Z will headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show at SoFi Stadium on Valentine's Day.

Now that song, I only played it for you and for the person that's so rude in this second date update.

I had to play it. I'm running out of time.

That was a banger.

It's a banger. You gotta dance.

I did enjoy that one.

Magic, where are ya? Where are you, Magic? Rude.

You got a rude player coming up in the second date update. They dated this person for six weeks, and then they didn't give him an excuse.

They just bailed. It's rude.

That's why Magic wrote the song. Okay, let's see the Calvin Harris tickets here.

Kia Forum. We're going to play Banger or Slasher.

Banger or Slasher. Inspired by that banger right there. Jay, good morning, Riverside.

How are you? I'm good. How are you doing?

Pretty good.

Jay, we're going to play Banger or Slasher. I'm going to give you a title. You tell me if it's a banger, a song by Calvin Harris, or a slasher, a horror.

Movie for Halloween, okay? Yes, sir. Let's go.

Three right before you get three wrong to go see Calvin Harris.

First one. Lights out. Lights out. Slasher or banger?

Banger.

Banger.

It's a slasher. Okay, here we go. Slasher or banger for Calvin Harris tickets. Slow acid. Slow acid. Banger, of course. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got a banger right there. All right, got one down. Here we go.

I'm not alone.

Banger or slasher?

Oh, banger.

You know that one, right? Here for the win now.

Sweetheart.

Is it a Calvin Harris banger or a horror movie Halloween slasher?

Sweetheart. Slasher. Dude, you came back like... Nice! Congratulations, Jay. You're going to go with Sissany to Calvin Harris.

You know how hard these tickets are to get?

That's why I'm doing banger.

Slasher, bro.

There's 400,000 people in the queue for all the nights.

Like, it's insane.

So, yes, I'll see you there.

Are you going? You should be giving away those tickets, Sissany.

I'm buying them on my own.

All right, well, Jay, you're not. Good on Sisney for buying. She will see you there. Take a picture together. 102.7 Kiss FM.

I'm going to bring on some heat right here. I don't really bring on the heat.

I'm bringing on the heat. What's that? The stove at high.

What are you talking about?

I'm bringing on heat. I am sun at full blast.

Wow.

In this second date update. Cause I think it's rude. Jacob's being treated rude by somebody. He dated for six weeks.

Yeah.

You're already coming in with like hate against this girl.

I got UVA at full blast.

Yeah. You're like, you're not seeing both sides yet. You're just seeing Jacob said, I don't want.

To see both sides. I don't care about both.

You don't know about the other side. Maybe he did something for her to justify the ghosting.

Ronnie, let me talk to you since you know how to date.

Oh my God.

I don't have any idea. So here's the thing. You go out with somebody for six weeks and they disappear as rude. It's disrespectful. It's rude. It's not ghosting. Ghosting is like you play with somebody for a week and then they're out. It's six weeks. That's like time of your life. That's like investment.

And then it's rude to disappear. So I don't need to hear both sides. There's only one side of this. Jacob, sorry, you've been listening to this, haven't you?

Jacob, hi. Hey. I don't want to know much. What do you think she disappeared for after six weeks? I mean, I honestly have no idea. What would you expect? Let me ask you this.

What would you expect to be the courtesy if she didn't want to see you again after six weeks?

I mean, if I had an idea, I wouldn't be calling you guys. What would you do? I have no idea. What would you do?

I would have a phone call. I would say, or at the very least a text, but I would, you know, conversation, communication.

Here we go. Her name is Alyssa. Hold on one second. She's agreed to come on. I am ready to take it on with Alyssa. Let's go.

Be kind.

I am kind.

I'm also being protective of Jacob and other people who get treated this way.

Let's hear her out.

I feel like this is striking a chord with Ryan.

Did you get ghosted after six weeks?

Possibly. I don't know. No one's here now. Somebody ghosted at some point. 102.7 Kiss FM. All right.

I'm standing up for those who put time into relationship and then the other person disappears without a reason. I don't think it's respectful personally. If you have respect for the other person, if you see somebody for six weeks, then there had to have been mutual respect. Otherwise, what are you pretending for? So I say that because I'm going to get to it fast for Jacob, who was with Alyssa for six weeks and then she quote ghosted him.

She disappeared.

She stopped seeing him after six weeks and didn't tell him why. Disappeared on him.

Jacob, are you ready?

Yeah.

Sisney and Tanya, are you ready?

I am.

Yep.

Let's meet Alyssa.

Rude.

Hi, Alyssa.

Hello.

Hey, it's Ryan Seacrest, Sisney and Tanya. How are you on Kiss FM? Thanks for agreeing to come on with us.

Yes, thank you.

Yeah, no problem.

So we're going to jump right into the reason we're calling. You dated a guy named Jacob, true? Yeah.

How long did you date Jacob?

Maybe like two months. Why are you calling me about him?

Because I need to stand up for him and for this, if it's happening the way that I hear it happening, so that other people don't get treated this way. did you give him a reason why you stopped seeing him after six weeks, two months?

Um, well, he, he never made any effort to make it official zero. Like, come on, dude.

So you weren't together for the six weeks.

It was open-ended.

Well, I mean, I, I know my worth and, uh, he didn't want to make it official. Like, yeah, we hung out and stuff.

Did you ask him to make, did you guys talk about trying to make it official? Was that part of the conversation?

I mean, for me, I don't think I have to bring that up. Like, it just seemed very like with, with how things were going, it just seemed kind of like, like that, like I was waiting for that conversation and it kind of just never happened. And so I just kind of moved on cause it just wasn't going anywhere.

So you moved on without telling him you moved on because he didn't come to you asking to be together.

Cause she was in.

That right girl.

Well, again, I know my worth. And, like, if you're not going to choose me and explicitly, like, make it very clear that, like, I'm who you want to be with, then, like, you know, I have other things I can be doing.

That's fair.

It was communicated to me by Jacob, clearly not a great communicator, that you guys were together for six weeks and then you ghosted him.

Is that not the case? Because I was not happy about that. I thought that was rude.

Yeah.

But that was the case.

He was really upset with you.

Is he, like, listening to this conversation?

Yes.

And so is America.

Oh my God.

No, I, he's like cool or whatever. Like we obviously like things were going well and like, I enjoyed being with him, but after so much time, like, I'm just the kind of person where like, if I don't know exactly how you feel about me, like I'm just going to assume that like, it's not going to go anywhere because I like someone to be direct and he wasn't being direct.

So yeah, this is fair.

And I like, I'm now liking all of this because we're going to take something away from this. Jacob, you can't reach out to us and say you went out with her for six weeks and then she disappeared on you.

If you didn't make it clear, you want it to be with her. Do you understand? Listen, I swear I thought we were together. We had toothbrushes at each other's apartments.

Toothbrushes does not equal exclusive relationship.

Yeah, it doesn't work that way.

You have to say something. You can't assume that we're official. Remember the order of operations?

Parentheses, exponents, please excuse my dear Aunt Sally. Remember the order of the way you would do math?

Of course.

There's a sequence to this stuff, Jacob.

You can't call and say she goes to me if you didn't tell her you wanted to be with her.

It doesn't work. That's the sequence.

Why didn't you both talk about it?

Well, what about last weekend?

We talked about moving to Charlotte together.

When like if I get.

Transferred we are not even boyfriend girlfriend and all of a sudden you're talking about moving across the country together like we're talking about the order of operations I feel like that you know that was so out of order yeah but that shows a certain level of commitment doesn't it Oh, we're asking questions.

Okay, great.

I have a question for you. Who is Maeve?

Maeve? Yeah.

I don't know how to say it. I saw her texting you though. She's a friend from back home.

Why?

Well, I was going to ask you about her.

You didn't.

That's what made me realize, well, well, it made me realize that we're not official because you could be dating her. You could be dating anyone.

But you're not communicating. Hold on. You guys are doing something.

You're not communicating.

You're doing something.

Why not say something?

Guys, stop escalating this.

You're not being clear. You're assuming, you're speculating, and you're jumping to conclusions. It's not fair for anybody here. Now, based on this, I have a simple question. Do you want to be together or not? Let's assume your communication was clear. Do you want to make this work or not?

I don't know.

Yeah, totally. Okay. All right. All right.

Well, we're going to let you go. Here's what you should take away for your future relationships.

Clarity. Conclusions. The two C's and three C's. Commitment. So three C's in a relationship. Clarity, conclusion, commitment. Three C's. Remember those. I mean, I really like it. I still have her hoodie. Do you want your hoodie back?

What about compromise?

What about communication? On Air with Ryan Seacrest.

I want to stop the show for a second on Kiss FM. Jenna Dewan from Dancing with the Stars and The Rookie.

Hi, guys.

Welcome.

Hi.

Thank you.

Thank you for having me.

Hi, guys.

Well, thank you for coming on because, you know, we all see ourselves in you when you're dancing on Dancing with the Stars.

I don't know if you know that. Yeah, yeah.

That's the best compliment ever. Honestly, that's so sweet. Thank you, Ryan.

Well, I do feel like everybody who watches the show, we all do think of ourselves like, could we, could we, should we, can we, you know, that's part of the fun of watching it.

That's what is fun.

I thought that the years watching the show, I would go, Oh my gosh, this looks so fun. Could I, could I like it is learning ballroom in four days.

Is that possible?

And then doing a show on a Tuesday. I mean, it's, it's actually insane. And even I had that little like, oh, I wonder this would work.

And it's been so fun.

It's all working out. And you had a little extra layer.

Tanya was reporting last week that everybody's talking about the fact that your normal partner was not going to be in for the week.

Last week, I reported that Val was suspended from Dancing with the Stars from something he did on social media. So Jenna got a brand new partner in the middle of the competition.

So, Jenna, all this goes down in real time. Alan comes in, a whole shift of gears. And what did you how did that work at first? Because it was all over the news.

You know, I feel like that moment was one of those moments where everything I have learned over all the years in the in show business, as far as literally like things can just happen and change. And you have to like the show has to go on, you know. you have to adapt and you have to pivot. And, and I really felt like in that moment, that was just an opportunity for me to really go, okay, well, what, what is my true North here? Like, why, why am I here in this competition? What is it that I wanted to feel and do by being in this competition.

And I just went back to that and I said, you know what, all I can do is my job and move forward and do the best job that I can. And it was also dedication week. So my mom was with me all week and I was dedicating it to my mom. So I had this, also this thing in front of me, you know, she was, she really was so excited about this moment and I wanted this moment to be special for her and for I and our family.

So it was a moment where I really could sort of just put into motion all that I learn and speak on all the time. It's like you're only in control of your own perspective and your own thoughts and just think positively and do the best job you can.

Well, it worked. You, Mom, Alan, it all worked, right? Yeah, it was fantastic. Thank you.

Jenna Dewan is here. And now you're back with Val. So you're back to do this dance with Val that's coming up. How is it to come back and shift gears yet again?

Yes, again, right? Again, okay, here we go. Back at it and show must go on. Val's an incredible dancer. He's been an incredible partner. And we really had built weeks of good rapport. And so we kind of stepped right back into it. And we've been focusing on the dance. And I'm really excited about this dance tonight. It's an amazing song. It's a fun theme. And so Again, I think it's about controlling your perspective and focusing on the positives and just keep the show going.

Wow. All right. So Horror Movie Night, what are you guys doing?

We are doing 28 Weeks Later, and it's a song called Uninvited, which is a remake of an Alanis Morissette song. And it's just a cool Argentine tango. I've wanted to Argentine tango for years after watching the show.

It looks so hard, which by.

The way, it is so hard, but I've wanted to do it so bad. And I've been really excited for this moment. You know, it just keeps going back to like, I get to dance live and I haven't been able to do that in so long.

And so I still feel really grateful.

How many more weeks are left Jenna and dancing with the stars?

So let's see, seven, eight, nine, 10, that would be four technically, if I make it all the way to the end, 11 weeks total.

It's a lot of work.

It's a grind. It is a grind.

And I'm doing it at the same time as the rookie.

So there's- Oh, are you shooting the rookie?

Those 12 hour, 13 hour days too? Yes, I am.

As well as parenting.

And that's 24-7.

I bet it never ends.

It's amazing.

Even more incredible to see the scores that you're getting. I have to tell you that I've never fallen in love with a guy on TV before. But there's something about Bruno that makes me keep coming back.

It's because he's amazing.

He's like the best spirit.

His style.

His sassy little outfits every week.

He's so fun. And when he stands up and he gets into it, it puts me in such a good mood because I want to get Bruno excited. So when he gets truly excited, I love it.

I love them. It makes me so happy.

When you have a moment off camera, I'd love for him to record a wake-up message for me every day so it'd be the first thing I hear when I wake up early in the morning.

Oh, that'd be incredible.

He'd be like, Ryan!

Yeah, that's what I need. That's what I want. That and my coffee in the morning? Come on. No stopping us.

Your passion for the day.

All right, Days of the Stars, ABC Tonight, 8, 7 Central, Disney Plus as well. The rookie back in January on ABC, the incredible Jenna Dewan.

Good luck. We'll be watching and rooting for you.

Yes!

You guys thank you.

So much thank you bye goodbye bye.

We can't complain about anything she's doing all that.

It's impressive it's a lot it really is you know good on her my favorite taylor swift song when i hear it i go yeah that's the one 102.7 kiss fm all right uh let's go.

So this is a funny question because people have asked me this in the past, and for some reason, I'm confused by the question. I don't understand this question when people ask me.

What is the question?

The question is, what would your younger self be most surprised by if they could see you today?

That's a hard question.

Do you even understand it?

I know what you mean. There's a lot of pressure to answer.

I don't know.

Don't think so deep about it.

Mine would be, I can't believe you met John Mayer and Shakira when you had a John Mayer and Shakira fan club in high school.

Do you know what I mean?

Oh, so for example, this is great. And let me tell you, that shed some light on it for me. I may be able to get there. But Priyanka Chopra talked about this.

Yes.

So Priyanka Chopra Jonas was honored with the Woman of Impact Award at the InStyle Image Maker Awards. And this award recognizes her for breaking stereotypes, opening doors for women in Hollywood. People asked her what her younger self would think of all this. And she said, I don't think she'd believe it. She said what her younger self would be most surprised by isn't the fame or the awards.

It's her tenacity and her will to keep going. Because growing up, Priyanka actually says that she was shy and introverted. And this is a woman who's like, she's Miss World. She's this Bollywood superstar. When you see interviews with Priyanka Chopra Jonas, like... she's so effervescent and funny and like just like very outgoing so for me i was so surprised to hear that she was like a shy kid yeah but so that's what i was thinking about with you like what would your younger self be surprised by with this version.

Of you today i don't know why i struggled like i've been asked that in front of people and i i buffer.

Yeah i think i got mine go okay So when I was like in second, third, fourth grade, I really struggled with reading. And so any time that I would get called on in class, to read, I would choke up and I would panic and I just would stutter. And I think it's because I spoke Spanish first.

I don't know. I'm making excuses.

But the point is, I think that she would look at her now. And now the fact that we read so many commercials and stuff and we read for a living now on the air in front of millions of people.

That's awesome.

It's crazy to me.

It's probably why you're good at it because you focus so much on it. I also got hooked on phonics back in the day.

Do you remember that?

Yeah. Yeah. Whatever it takes.

I think that might have worked.

I mean, one thing I'm thinking about, if you want to talk about work, I remember I pretended to be Rick Dees as a kid hosting the Kiss FM morning show.

How cool is that?

That's crazy. I pretended in Atlanta, never met the guy.

I pretended to be Casey Kasem counting down the America Top 40 when I was 10 years old in Atlanta, my bedroom.

I pretended. I actually called myself their names. weird.

That is crazy. I remember listening to Rick Dees and Ellen Kay and like the birthday game, driving to school and like never thinking in a million years that we would be here.

Do you know what that's called though?

Huh?

Do you know what that's called?

Manifesting.

Exactly.

I mean, yeah, we know that term.

Like Eureka moment.

I thought it was going to be some big new vocabulary word that I was going to use to dictate my life going forward.

102.7 Kiss FM. You know, it's interesting.

Just before 9 o'clock, before it's the final hour of the show, everyone said, blame me and team up on me for this. And if we're a team, if this is a group, then it's all of our fault.

Respectfully, it's not.

Michaela, I don't appreciate this.

I donated my testimonial to your hinge to say what I say that was perfect on that testimonial.

Zippity. Zippity.

She's zippity. She go out with Michaela. Zippity, zippity. Zippity, zippity. She's great. Zippity. I put myself out there for you.

You gave her four stars.

You did.

But this has nothing to do with her hinge. This has to do with the dating show that she went on.

For what? She's blaming me for this guy, Rusty, going awry.

I kind of agree with her.

Why?

What happened?

So I think after you talked to him, he just got scared. And so he kind of just really stopped talking. talking to me, and I feel like maybe that's why we haven't hung out.

Well, this is not my fault. I only knew about Rusty to talk to him here because you told me.

Rusty kept him all to himself.

Wait, so Rusty called in?

You guys talked to Rusty?

Where were you?

I had the flu. Oh, you were out sick. Where were you? Oh, you missed this? Yeah. I had flu B. We met the guy. We met the guy on the air. We loved him. He was great. Charming, funny.

Yeah.

This is what happens.

Okay.

You get the flu. You miss out on Rusty. Obviously.

Okay.

So what did you say to Rusty then?

I said, I can't wait for you guys to get together.

She needs you.

You need him.

I need clips.

I need to hear what you said.

Oh, clips of Rusty. I don't know if we can play him back now.

Yes, of course we can.

Well, Mikayla.

This is your fault because you told me to talk to him on the air or I wouldn't have respectfully.

Ryan's right.

You respectfully say respectfully.

You all wanted to talk to him.

So, well, you can't blame us. So, okay.

We have clips.

We have clips.

We have clips.

Well, go ahead.

Play a clip.

Number one.

What is it about Michaela that you were drawn to?

I was in the audience when Michaela started walking, and I was like, oh, my gosh, that's her.

I don't stand a chance. All right, I should probably believe. She's, like, way out of my league. I was nervous. Self-deprecating, charming, way out of the complimentary, way out of my league. I loved it.

That's not bad. Your question's not bad.

Okay. My question's right on.

What else?

All right, now.

She said you came up with a great first date. Where are you going? Because Tanya and I will be nearby.

Yeah.

We're going to, we might start with some art, do a little art walk in Culver City.

And I think I'm going to grab some pizza. I mean, this is good. It's all good.

He went from we're going to we might.

Yeah.

Oh, gosh.

You guys.

She's not wrong. My fault was his fault.

Give us another one.

Give us another one.

He chose the words.

Go ahead.

One more.

Rusty, what's your Zodiac sign?

Oh, I'm a Libra.

See, I blame Tanya now. She asked that dumb question. The zodiac sign.

How cliche.

Nick just posted one more.

So predictable. All right, well, good luck, Rusty, and take care. She's into you. Later, bro.

She's into you?

You're welcome.

That's what did it. No, I don't think that's bad.

I don't know.

Anyway, well, one meant to be, and you're welcome for that, too. So are we back to Hinge? Maybe I'll get some pickup lines on Hinge to read.

We're back on Hinge.

On air.

On air with Ryan Seacrest. All right, here's the question on this.

When is it acceptable to start decorating for Christmas?

November 1?

That's when I'm doing it. November 1st.

Okay, so basically, is it okay post-Halloween? Or do you have to wait for after Thanksgiving?

I think there's no right or wrong answer here. It just depends on what. Well, the malls will start decorating in like July.

Exactly. They're going to sell stuff. When's that tree at the Citadel go up?

Oh, the tree just arrived last week at the Citadel, actually.

It did?

Yes.

So they started already working on this tree. It is massive, 115 feet. It got delivered all the way from Mount Shasta. I mean, the thing is huge. And it's 70 feet taller than the Hollywood sign. How crazy is that?

A Hollywood sign is not huge when you get up there.

A Hollywood sign is massive.

It's giant.

So they're going to spend two weeks decorating this thing. You know the deal. It's going to have like 18,000 lights, like all this crazy stuff. It's going to be beautiful. The Grove and the Americana usually do it just after Halloween. So I feel like we're right in the same wheelhouse as to when they're going to start putting their trees up.

So yeah.

So like Halloween is this Saturday night.

Right?

Yes.

November 1st is Sunday.

Yep.

Do the Halloween decorations come down Sunday and then do you immediately put up Christmas?

Yes.

I got to tell you something. Why not? Thank you.

Everybody likes the decorations. It makes life better. Frankly, if you put them up after Thanksgiving, it goes too fast. It puts you in the spirit. There are only so many good things on this planet to look forward to. That is one of them. There's no real decorations for Thanksgiving. That hearth, that's a bunch of nothing.

What's a hearth?

A little turkey here and there.

What's a hearth?

Is it that the swirly thing you put on?

The wicker swirly thing you put some wheat in.

Oh, that's a cornucopia. What's a hearth?

A hearth is nothing.

It's a wreath. A hearth?

Isn't a hearth like the floor of a fireplace?

Yeah, the floor in front of your fireplace.

I know that.

The floor in front of your fireplace?

It's a hearth, yes.

What's that wicker thing that you stuff stuff in for Thanksgiving? Cornucopia.

Cornucopia.

Don't act like you guys knew the difference.

I didn't.

I call mine a hearth. Clearly, I'm wrong.

But there is a moment where you could do like the fall leaves and you could make it a little bit more Thanksgiving before you jump right into Santa Claus's and everything.

My tree's going up November.

1st, baby.

Put up your hearth or whatever, your cornucopia, and we're going right into Christmas lights, green, red, and wreaths.

I love a wreath.

I do love a wreath.

Pine cone wreath.

102.7.

It's Kiss FMLA.

Let me bring in the guy behind hits like this with his band Matchbox 20. Can I play some of these hits?

Come on.

It's like a soundtrack to my life when I'm listening to these songs. There's Push. You know one of my favorites? It's on my workout VO2 Max sprinting list.

Real world.

Sorry, Rob.

I don't mean to butcher you. Rob Thomas, my brother, literally my brother. Good to see you, pal. Man, I got this image of you with.

Your headphones on and you're on the treadmill and then you don't even realize you're singing out loud.

That's true. And my very short pumas, I do it, my short shorts. How are you doing, man? I'm great.

You know, I have to give some people context here. You have been doing this for a long time and playing some of the hits. You've got obviously songs throughout your career that continue to.

Be on the charts. 30 years now. That's right. Is it 30? Is it three decades? Yeah, this is our 30th anniversary year.

I remember when we met, Push was just coming out on radio. And you came into what we called the Star Lounge. It's Star 98.7 where I used to work. And met you guys. And I was a big fan. I think from that day on, we became good friends. And Now I feel like we're morphing into each other. We're starting to look alike.

I know, I know.

I think the plan has finally started to begin. Speaking of all that, Mahdi says hi, by the way.

You know this.

We've talked about my relationships in the past over the years. Unmarried, still unmarried. You have figured it out for 27 years. I know there's been ups and downs. Assuming we weren't on air, what's your counsel to me?

I mean, I think you're doing the right thing. The worst, the best thing to do is to find something like this. And the worst thing to do is be stuck in something that's not the real thing or the right thing. So I think that like, I, I got really lucky and I met my best friend 28 years ago and then I married her and she stayed my best friend.

And we were lucky enough, I think, to evolve at the same rate. Like sometimes that just doesn't happen. And we, and we just, we check in with each other, you know, at every stage of our life and we're still kind of game for what the next one is.

Rob Thomas here. Matchbox 20's anniversary tour. We're going to talk about it in a second. At what age did you and Marisol get married?

We were 27.

Wow.

That would be the end of me.

The good age.

My husband was 27. I was 29.

Yeah, it's so funny because I had my son just before, right when I met my wife from a previous relationship, and so he's 28. And when I, most of my friends, they got started a little later. So they're my age and their kids are like five, six, you know, maybe 12. And so they're all like, like I actually had people like, oh, we should get our kids together and have like.

A play date. And I'm like, that's kind of creepy.

My son's almost 30.

Which I cannot fathom, my brother. I know.

He's going to be opening up, actually. His band is playing first at the Hollywood Bowl when we play next summer. He has a band called The Lucky, and they're going to be opening.

How cool.

That's super cool. So let's talk about it. You've got the show coming up. It's summer. It's June 9th. It's at the Bowl.

Tickets are on sale now for Matchbox 20's 30th anniversary tour. What's it like to get back out there and see everybody who's followed you for such a long time and do what you've been doing and loved for so long?

Well, you know, it's fun. Like we were just in LA.

We just did like a show at the Fonda Theater, right? Where we just announced it like the day before, came in and played the first record back to back. And we haven't played some of those songs in over 25 years since the first record was over. And so a lot of those people flew in from all over the world.

And they were like a group of like the hardcore initiated people. I think if you get lucky enough to do something long enough to realize what it's like to become someone else's nostalgia, it's a very cool feeling.

You know what I mean? And so like now, you know, you.

Go out and you play these songs and it's a shared experience with all of these people. And it has been for just for a really, really long time.

Rob Thomas, so many great memories listening to your music. I can put myself, I mean, the track of Santana, the music there, I can put myself in certain chapters of, I think this is to your point about nostalgia. I can remember certain chapters of my life when I listened to certain albums or tracks off albums to your songs.

I think a lot of people can do that. Well, you know, my wife and I do that, right?

And it's funny because me and Mario would be like, we'll try and figure out like when something was happening. And I'd be like, no, baby, that was mad season. That was mad season period. I know that was first solo record period. Like everything that we do is kind of like we put it in those compartments because we realized what we were doing, you know, based on where I was.

Get your tickets to go see these guys on sale now. Rob, is that an aura ring that you're flashing around there?

Is that your sleep monitor?

Yeah.

I mean, I struggle with this damn thing.

I don't know.

Honestly, Ryan, I don't do anything with this information. I stopped really checking it. All it's done is let me know. The one thing that I have to do to survive is sleep, and so it just lets me know that I'm not doing that right.

This is literally mine from last night.

61 fair, you'll be fine. Now I'm depressed all day that it told me that.

I know.

My ring is like, hey, I got rid of the Apple Watch because it would be like, hey man, why don't you breathe? And I'm like, stand up a little.

I'm like, why don't you mind your own business, watch? You get pissed. I get so upset. I get intense with this thing. But you're like, you're super, super healthy.

I know you. I think you get to eat an almond like twice a week.

Yeah, I love it. I love almond. I eat almond butter. That's my thing.

I eat these nut butters with a spoon. I was talking.

To Lisa and she was just like, dude, he's so ripped right now.

You got to see him. He's ripped. Do you want to come? I'll come show you.

Just pull them out for everybody. I'm too shy because I was a chubby kid. I can't do it.

I feel like we were, weren't we? We talked about this. We've talked about this over dinner.

The last time we got to go to dinner, you actually got to enjoy a couple glasses of wine and a piece of bread. You were kind of in a phase or something. And just the joy on your face. The pure joy.

E-sody. That's where we were, right? E-sody? That place? Yeah, yeah. Downtown? Yeah, I remember that.

Yeah.

All right.

My brother, I love you so much. Please send my love to your wife. We're going to get everybody out there to see a Matchbox 23rd anniversary tour, June 9th, Hollywood Bowl on sale.

Now, let's stay close, okay?

Yeah, for sure, man.

Take it easy.

Thanks for the time. Take it easy. Bye-bye. See you soon. Bye, guys. You got to see the video of this guy. He looks incredible. He's got a 30-year-old son? That's not human.

Yeah.
