Good day, and welcome to another edition of Q and A Social Security Disability Today. I am your host to toorney Anthony Reeves. Let's get to your questions. If I received unemployment insurance insurance benefits before I received disability insurance benefits, what will happen after I get approved for disability benefits? In other words, will they reduce my benefits based on the uninsurance the unemployed insurance benefits typically no. Usually I tell people the offset doesn't come in unless you've got you're talking about SSI. But if you're talking about disability insurance benefits, the unemployment typically will not be reduced from your disability assurance benefits. Meaning if it was determined that you were found disabled during the same period of time, social Security
is not going to reduce your benefits because you received unemployment benefits. Now let me throw this out here as well. Be mindful that if you find yourself going to the disability process, judges vary in terms of how they interpret what unemployment benefits means towards your case. Most people don't recognize that when you apply for unemployment, you're telling the state that you can work, but when you apply for Social security you're telling the defense that you can't work. That creates a conflict. Sometimes there's usually a host of different scenarios that come into play.
So if you have an attorney or a representative helping you, they can make sure they guide you as to how to articulate how your situation may be in terms of the unemployment which may have led you to eventually apply for Social Security. But keep those things in mind, but the reality is, under most circumstances, once you approved, if you approved social Security disability benefits, they typically don't reduce your benefits if you received unemployment during that same period time.
Again, I want to thank you for your questions and ask always if you have a disability Q and DA get your answer right here, a social Security disability today yet inste
