Dune: Part Three is set to own the premium IMAX screens on December 18th, even though it’s opening the exact same day as Avengers: Doomsday, and in 2026. I’m especially curious how the rollout is going to look, because yes, I’m also going to do some trailer speculation and break down when we’re likely to start seeing teasers and full trailers. Also, Timothée Chalamet recently gave us a little more clarity on the vibe of Dune Messiah,, he’s hinted at a tone that’s more eerie and unsettling, which is exactly what you want from Messiah.

Hi guys, Quinn here. If you appreciate my content, consider hitting the like button. It's the best way to get the YouTube algorithm to take notice of my YouTube channel. Thanks so much, guys. Hi guys. So, since you guys seem to enjoy the last Dune News video that I did, I decided to do another one. There's been a couple of things that have come out recently related to Dune 3 that I thought that I could talk about on here.

And things are looking pretty good for Dune 3, I will say. Everything that I hear makes me more excited for this movie. It is definitely my number one anticipated thing this year. So, first things first, Dune 3 beats out Avengers Doomsday. So, right now, Dune and Avengers Doomsday are scheduled for release on the same day.

They're coming out at the same time. Dune has one IMAX exclusivity. So Dune will have all of the IMAX screens in the United States. So this is huge for Dune. Some Marvel Avengers fans are kind of upset about this. They're thinking that maybe they should change their date. But this is great news for United States Dune fans because Villeneuve films these movies for IMAX, and seeing these movies in IMAX is an amazing experience if you have the opportunity to do so.

I highly recommend it. Now, Avengers Doomsday will still be appearing in IMAX in some select international markets, according to this article. But in most places, if it's an IMAX, it's gonna be Plan Dune. Alright, so the next thing I wanted to talk about is something that Timote Chalome said recently in an article.

Now, this movie, as I talked about in my last video on this topic, is going to be some kind of blend between Dune Messiah, which is the second book in the original Dune trilogy, and Children of Dune, which is the third book in the original Dune trilogy. Now it's not totally clear how much of either will be used, but there is something very distinct that happens in Dune Messiah compared to the first book, and that is a shift in tone.

Dune Messiah is a much more summer book. Dune Messiah is a much sadder book. It's pretty much universally agreed upon that the story presented in Dune Messiah is a tragedy. Now, in a recent interview, Timote has said that this is the eerie movie in the trilogy, and that it's a big swing in comparison to the first two movies, which makes sense since the first two movies are based pretty much exclusively on the first book, and this will be based off mostly Dune Messiah, if I had to guess, and will have some elements of Children of Dune.

And Dune Messiah certainly is a big swing from Dune. Now, if you've read these books, then you know what I'm alluding to. I don't need to get into the spoilers for the books here. If you want spoilers, I've done hours of Dune videos on this channel, breaking down the characters and the plot lines and themes and the ideas and everything, so check that out.

But given everything that we keep hearing about this movie and what's going to be presented in it, I'm very, very excited for Dune Part 3. Now, we've talked somewhat about the new characters that are going to be showing up in this movie. Spoiler alert in case you don't want to know about new characters, so if you don't want to be spoiled on anything, this is your time to maybe leave.

So confirmed, we have Leto Atreides II and Ganema Atreides. Now, Leto Atreides II is played by Nicolia Wolf Mamoa, who is the son of Jason Mamoa. I did not know that, because I'm not a celebrity person. I don't really know about celebrities, so I wasn't aware of that, but that's cool. And the actress that plays Ganema Atreides is named Ida Brook.

Now, Robert Pattinson has also been cast in some role in this movie, and it has not been officially stated who he is. Now there's a lot of speculation that he will be playing Sky Tail, which would be super cool, I think. Sky Tail is, of course, a Slalaksu face dancer. He has a very significant role in Dune Messiah.

Now, his name might be pronounced Sytelle, but that leads me into kind of a divergent point. The thing with Dune names is that these are names that are thousands of years in the future. Everybody pronounces these names differently. If you listen to the Dune audiobooks, they're gonna be pronounced one way.

If you watch the Dune miniseries from the early 2000s, they're gonna be pronounced another way. I get yelled at in the comments about various ways to pronounce different things in the Dune universe. The David Lynch movie has its own way of pronouncing things. Sytell, Sky Tell, at the end of the day, it's fictional names, and we don't know how these people 10,000 years in the future would be pronouncing these words anyway.

It's kind of like Lovecraftian names. Is it Cthulhu or is it Cthulhu? Believe it or not, there are people that argue on the internet about how to pronounce the names of unspeakable Lovecraftian horrors. They're unspeakable. You're not supposed to be able to pronounce it, but as I was saying. Now, if you watched the Dune Prophecy TV show on HBO, then you know that an early version of the Face Dancer has already been introduced in the Dune, I guess, cinematic television universe.

So it will be curious to see how Vilnius Face Dancer functions in comparison. But of course, what we have in the show is a proto face dancer. This is a this is thousands of years before these events that we're seeing in the movies. So uh Robert Pattinson's face dancer, Skytail, if he is in fact Skytail, is bound to be different and more advanced than the face dancer we saw in the Dune Prophecy show.

I do hope that he is Skytail because I think that he would bring something interesting to that role. Because the Skyta plot line does carry with it this eeriness, as Timote mentioned. There is a kind of eeriness that covers that entire book. And there is a sense of foreboding throughout the book, because Paul Atreides' grip upon the Imperium is tenuous.

Paul isn't weak, but a galactic empire is a difficult thing to manage, especially when so many forces are actively at work against you. The Bini Jezerit, the House Corino, the Telelaxu, the Guild, and others. Alright, so the other big thing that's on everybody's mind is where is the trailer? So if we take a look back at Doom Part 1, Warner Brothers dropped a teaser trailer on September 9th, 2020.

So back then the movie was still in the late 2020 release plan. So it was scheduled for November 20th, and then they pushed it to December 18th. And then the movie ultimately landed on October 22nd, 2021, because of COVID delays. So initially it was a three-month runway to the final release, and then it got pushed way back later to COVID.

So this isn't really like a good way to judge it because of the COVID delays. And then for part two, we had a lot of delays before they finally locked in the release date. So originally we were scheduled for October 20th, 2023, and then November 17th, and then November 3rd, and then delayed to March.

This had to do with writer strikes, I believe. Now, the official trailer was posted by Warner Bros. on May 3rd, 2023. So this lines up about six months before the then targeted November 2023 release date. And then of course that ends up being 10 months before the eventual release date on March 1st. So if Doom Part 3 doesn't get delayed and it stays set for December 18th, then my cleanest educated guess, based on how they intended to market Doom Part 2, is that the first major trailer will probably come out May to early July 2026.

So roughly six to seven months from the movie coming out. And then a second trailer probably around late August to September, and then a final trailer, you know, maybe like in October or November. That would be my best guess based off of their intended release schedule for Dune Part 2. And all that I can say is I wish them the best with this movie.

I hope Villeneuve knocks it out of the park with this conclusion to his trilogy. Now it's not out of the question, as we've talked about before, that more movies will follow. It is just really up in the air as to whether or not Villeneuve will have anything to do with those following movies. He is he's got other projects that he has to move on to.

He's working on a he's gonna work on Rendezvous with Rama, he's got a Cleopatra thing that's happening, he's got several other movies that are down the pipeline. So Villeneuve has a lot on his belt, and I don't think he wants to be locked into one franchise forever. So it is likely that if we move past this third movie and continue adapting these books as movies, that another director will pick up the mantle.

And depending on who that is, uh, it could be fantastic or it could, you know, be a huge, huge disappointment. So it's gonna be very, very important um to choose the right creative mind going forward to follow up on what Villeneuve has done. And I also think it's important for that person to have their own vision and not you know try to imitate what Villeneuve has done and to have their own idea of what the Dune world looks like.

Alright, so that's all I've got for today. I hope you liked the video, and if you want more videos on Dune lore or science fiction lore in general, please check out the channel. Thanks so much, guys.
