Hi, this is Stephen. I just want to make sure that you don't miss a great bonus episode I released yesterday. In the episode, I talked to Tom from the Thinking in English podcast about migration and his own migration to Japan. I hope you enjoy it. Good morning. This is Send7 World News in 7 minutes. I'm Stephen Devincenzi. Today is Monday, the 12th of October. Starting in Asia today, in Saudi Arabia, 12 people were killed and over 300 injured in a Houthi drone attack on Saturday on Riyadh International Airport, which is the sixth busiest airport in the Middle East. Violent attacks like this are very rare in Saudi Arabia, and this is the deadliest attack in over 10 years. Yesterday, there was another attack on Riyadh International Airport, which resulted

in injuries. Yemen's Houthi group have claimed responsibility for both attacks, as well as attacks on Dammam Airport and Saudi energy facilities. Some airlines have suspended flights to Riyadh International Airport. Between Yemen and Djibouti, the United Nations Organisation for Migration has said that over 100 people have died when a migrant ship sank over the last few days. Thousands of people have been trying to escape Yemen to reach Djibouti after large areas of the west coast of Yemen have been taken over by the Houthis. In India, the leaders of the cockroach movement, were detained by police at demonstrations this weekend, the Farcical Party has said. The Cockroach Janta Party was created in May after India's Chief Justice referred to young

unemployed people as cockroaches. Tens of thousands of police were deployed in Delhi's streets this weekend because of the protests. America's In the United States, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has said that an execution will be live-streamed. Nidal Hassan is a former US Army soldier who shot dead 13 people at a military base in 2009. Hassan is due to be executed by firing squad in December. If the execution is broadcast, then it would be the first public execution in the United States. Since 1937, Amnesty International says that the only countries that carried out public executions last year were Iran and Afghanistan. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, President Donald Trump said that he would make a decision

about live streaming the execution. Many politicians from within the governing Republican Party have said that they disagree with the plan. Also in the U.S., Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that the U.S. will put sanctions on the International Criminal Court, calling it a rogue court.

President Trump will never allow the International Criminal Court to prosecute Americans. And that's why today the United States is sanctioning the International Criminal Court. We will ban transactions with this rogue court. cutting off their resources and crippling their ability to operate against us. Because our message is clear.

The United States and the American people are not subject to the jurisdiction of this fake ICC.

In Peru, the Korean pop group BTS completed three sold-out concerts this weekend, the first time that they've played in Peru. Approximately 155,000 fans are believed to have attended these concerts. Last week, BTS performed in Colombia for the first time, and next week they will perform in Argentina for the first time. Also in Peru, the body of an Australian mountain hiker has been found after he went missing a month ago. And also in Peru, a man named Hitler Mussolini has been elected as mayor of a town in the Andes. Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores is from the left-wing Ahora Nación party. Europe. In Ukraine, a Russian air attack on an apartment building in the southern region of Zaporizhia killed at least 11 people, including a five-year-old girl, on Saturday.

There were also deaths from Russian attacks in the northeastern city of Kharkiv and the western city of Ivano-Frankivsk. United States President Donald Trump has said that the United States will buy diesel from Russia, breaking with previous sanctions on Russia, which included not buying Russian oil. Trump has justified this by saying that Ukraine continued to attack Russian oil refineries after the US told them not to, because of high oil prices around the world. Trump also said that Ukraine should get a new leader.

And I said to him, do what you want, don't hit refineries. There's plenty of targets, don't hit refineries. And he went out and he hit, and he's not going to affect our farmers, and he's not going to affect our ranchers, and he's not going to affect the rest of the world. So he better damn well stop. I suggest they get a new leader who can make a deal.

Because he could have made many deals that for some reason he never does. And let me go a step further. If I were president, you wouldn't have ever had that war. That war would have never started.

Also yesterday on social media, Trump wrote that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to an energy ceasefire. However, President Zelensky said that he had not heard of any energy ceasefire, but that he would agree to one if Russia agreed to one. Zelensky also said that Russia had hit a Ukrainian power plant after Trump's announcement. In Norway, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the South African judge Navi Pillai.

Pillai was a judge on the International Criminal Court and led the tribunal for the Rwandan genocide. From 2008 to 2014, she was the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner. She has also led a United Nations Commission. which concluded last year that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza. On stage at a political rally, US President Trump criticised the country of Norway for not giving the Nobel Peace Prize to him, claiming that he had stopped eight wars and saying that the decision was a stain on Norway. Africa In Sudan, the human rights organisation Emergency Lawyers has said that an Egyptian air force strike killed at least 72 people in a disputed border area where artisanal gold miners work. Egypt

has not commented on this claim and it is difficult to verify information from this area because of its remote location. In Egypt, journalists have protested against six journalists being arrested and charged with terrorism offences last week. And Kenyan marathon runner Eliud Kipchonge won the Melbourne Marathon this weekend in a course record time at the age of 41. After setting the new record, Kipchonge said, I believe that my body is still peaking and I am happy to run with Gen Zs. That's your World News in 7 minutes.
