In the United Kingdom, Oxford Street will be pedestrianised from today. Oxford Street is the busiest shopping street in Europe, with up to 500,000 visitors per day. Almost one kilometre of the road will be closed to traffic,

including buses, taxis, bicycles, scooters and pedicabs. The project was first proposed in 2016 and is expected to cost £ 150 million. In France, far-right leader Marine Le Pen launched her presidential campaign yesterday. She is the frontrunner in France's upcoming presidential election next year. She has promised to restore order and national confidence at a time of protests across France. In Paris, at the weekend, galleries and museums closed in anticipation of more protests. Asia and Oceania North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un crossed a new bridge to China on Saturday. The new Yalu River Bridge is two miles long and connects the two countries. It is expected to help with the transport of heavy equipment, raw materials and energy products. In Australia,

a new 5.6 billion Australian dollar airport opened in Sydney yesterday. This is the first time in more than 50 years that Australia has opened a new major airport. It has the capacity for more than 80 million passenger movements per year. Sri Lanka's foreign ministry said yesterday that Sri Lanka has helped rescue 40 Iranian soldiers from commercial ships nearby. the strongest storms in the Pacific this year. The Americas Venezuela's opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has returned to Venezuela after nearly a year. She secretly left the country in 2025 to receive the Nobel Peace Prize after more than a year of living in hiding. United States President Donald Trump has said that the United States has total control of Venezuela and didn't know anything about Machado's return. In Canada, the opposition Conservative Party has won a provincial election in British Columbia for the first time since 1928, according to provisional results. From a small movement that started nearly two centuries ago to an initial city council attempt that energized the effort nearly two decades ago to today, where we are bringing that effort finally to fruition for the horses, for our safety and for our city. And that is a promise that we are now making a reality.
