Podcasts. Radio. News. The Stock Movers Report. Your roundup of companies making moves in the stock market. Harnessing the power of Bloomberg data. I'm Tim Stadevek along with Carol Master. Let's take a look at some stocks on the move today. We got some companies that are not tech companies on our radar.
Let's talk about Whirlpool. This was a pandemic darling. We would often talk with the head of the company, talk about the business. Everybody was redoing kitchens and buying appliances. Well, Whirlpool is definitely living in a different era. It's been under a lot of pressure. It's down more than 60% year to date. It's down 6% in the aftermarket today, tumbling after it cut its full year outlook for the third time this year and forecast its first annual loss this in decades, citing a sluggish recovery as the company tries to mitigate weakening demand for household appliances. The company is cutting costs. They're increasing prices to improve margins, but still, quote, saw a slower-than-expected recovery. That's coming from CEO Mark Blitzer,
putting that out in a statement. As I said, sales declined for a fourth straight quarter, dragged by soft industry demand in North America. And so we're seeing this stock down an awful lot in the About 6%. It was down about 10% earlier. So it did kind of bounce off a little bit, but still down in a big way.
All right.
Speaking of down in a big way, shares of JetBlue have been down in a big way this year. Down close to 50% so far this year, hitting a new all-time low today. This is the third day in a row that this stock has hit a new all-time low.
Different tone for this one.
Different tone. JetBlue Airways shares down 9.7% in the session today. This after the company anticipates a negative operating margin of 4.5% to 6.5% for the full year of 2026. The company reported an adjusted third quarter loss of 60 cents a share of missed wall street's estimates for a loss per share of 55 cents. The story is the same, uh, six consecutive years of operating losses. The last profitable year on an operating basis was back in 2019. There are a lot of questions about this company's future.
Um, yeah.
And I think, um, Well, it's interesting.
There was some stuff after the close, right? And we saw it certainly take a hit down. That's a look at the aftermarket, right? No, that's today.
Okay.
Yeah, that's today.
But there were some headlines in the aftermarket as well.
Yeah.
Right? That's where they actually came out with some numbers.
And JetBlue's higher in the after hours by more than 10%. Okay. So, yeah, we're seeing.
So, kind of across. And maybe this is what they came out to say, hey, listen, here's the reality, right?
The company says it has confidence delivering positive free cash flow in 2028. It says it has confidence delivering at least a dollar EPS in 2028. JetBlue shares jump as much as 19% after reporting third quarter results. It still sees a fiscal year capex about $ 850 million. The problem is. Earlier today, there was a note, this analyst over at Mellius said that Spirit Air hired PJT before its second Chapter 11 filing in August 2025 as the company's own advisor rather than its creditors. A group of JetBlue creditors is working with PJT partners in Aiken, Gump, Strauss, Hauer as the airline's debt and stocks sink.
Yeah.
So that was going into the print today.
Right.
And remember, it was last week the Wall Street Journal came out talking about JetBlue creditors working with restructuring advisors. So we're keeping an eye on that. Hey, just quickly want to mention Instacart. That stock, we saw it kick to the upside, almost 8% in the regular trade. That, as it is said to be in advanced stocks, DoorDash is said to be in advanced talks to acquire Instacart parent MapleBear for roughly $ 17 billion, according to people familiar with the matter. A deal for the grocery app could be announced as soon as this week, said those in the know who asked not to be identified. No final decision has been made. Discussions could fall through.
