Why Grit Isn’t Enough | Angela Duckworth

You’d expect the psychologist behind the bestselling book Grit (thepaintedporch.com/products/selfhelp11?_pos=1…)thepaintedporch.com/products/selfhelp11?_pos=1… tell you to try harder, but Angela Duckworth (instagram.com/angelalduckworth) knows why that isn’t always the answer. In today’s episode, the University of Pennsylvania professor and MacArthur Fellow joins Ryan to discuss her new book, Situated (thepaintedporch.com/products/situated-find-the…), why certain people and places bring out our best, what she misunderstood about her own marriage, how we give away control of our attention, why our worst moments don’t tell the whole story, and more.

Angela Duckworth (instagram.com/angelalduckworth) is a professor at the University of Pennsylvania and co-director of the Penn-Wharton Behavior Change for Good Initiative. A former public school teacher and 2013 MacArthur Fellow, she studies what helps people achieve their goals. Her TED talk is among the most viewed of all time.
