Welcome in What's Right with Nick Wright episode 519, our week 7 NFL pick show. This episode of What's Right with Nick Wright is presented to you by Boost Mobile. A reminder for any of you out there that would like to subscribe to the channel. It helps us a ton. Subscribe on YouTube, on Spotify, on iTunes. I'm curious, up to like 253, 254,000 on YouTube, like that. Spotify and iTunes numbers have been excellent this football season, so we greatly appreciate you guys for that. Demondze, great to see you.
You guys, if you were listening yesterday, folks are wondering. Yesterday, we're recording it the same day, but if you were listening to the show yesterday, I talked a fair amount about the Survivor competition. You guys will have already seen Thursday Night Football. I can't imagine... that there will be a lot of usage of either of the teams from Thursday night's game. The Bears are only three-point favorites, and while they don't have a ton of great spots available remaining survivor-wise, home against the Bucs, home against the Saints off a bye, And they are in Miami later in the year, so I imagine if people have the Bears, they didn't. Many people didn't use them last night. And the Patriots, obviously, if you didn't use them last week,
the Patriots have better spots later in the year. So I don't think Thursday Night Football will have had much of an impact on Survivor at all. While I am not revealing to the audience, I will do it at 1 o'clock on Sunday, what my official pick is, I am comfortable without feeling like I'm giving myself a competitive disadvantage, to say what should be pretty obvious, which is there are three teams that I am most strongly considering for the pick. The Cowboys on Monday Night Football in Philadelphia against the Eagles. the Jets at home against the Dolphins, and the Rams in a must-win spot against the Raiders in Vegas, where if the Rams lose, I think you can basically just say their season's over. Those are the
ones that I am, you know, I have narrowed it down to those three. I'm not, the Steelers... are going to be a somewhat popular pick. I am not picking the Steelers in France as a survivor pick. I'm just, I'll tell you right now, that's not going to be my pick. Um, so, so there's the update there. Now a much needed after back to back one in four catastrophes, we needed a four in one week. Demond's a, we got a.
Four, one in four and then four on one just now.
Uh, No, I went 1-4 in back-to-back weeks. Yeah, I think I went... I think this is how my season has gone. 2-3, 3-2, 4-1, 1-4, 1-4, 4-1. That's how you get to 15-15. And so here are our picks from last week brought to you... Well, the whole show is brought to you by our friends at Boost Mobile. Demonte, go through them and I'll explain them.
Jacksonville minus two and a half versus Houston and London.
Yeah, I mean, I thought we were going to steal that one. I obviously was on the wrong side of it, but I thought Travis Hunter might win the game for us. He did not. He played great. Shout out to CJ Stroud, who's just been excellent all year, even if that Texan Stevens has been disappointing. You know, if Jacksonville wins that game, that division race is over. They're 5-1, Houston's 1-5. Now all of a sudden, they're 4-2, Houston's 2-4, and Houston has the temporary tiebreaker. So that now is a real division race. Got that one wrong. Didn't get any of the other ones wrong.
Let's discuss them. New England minus 6.5 versus the Jets.
Now, we do these picks with our friends at Polymarket. Polymarket does not have whole numbers. So there's never a minus seven. It's either minus six and a half or minus seven and a half. I, and you will see later in the show, one of these goes against me. One of these goes against me in that I lose out on a half point of value, but obviously... New England against the Jets was a great pick if you can get it at 6.5 and a losing pick if you got it at 7.5. I would not have loved it at 7.5. New England controlled the entire game. They ended up winning by 7. We got it at 6.5.
The other ones, well, we'll get to the other ones right now.
Go ahead. Tennessee plus 6.5 at Indy.
Yeah, I mean, they won outright. And they won outright because despite the fact that they got no offense, the blocked punt, They needed big special teams.
They got it.
So plus six and a half, we're on the right side. They're speaking of being on the right side.
Next one. Arizona plus 10 and a half at the Rams.
They wasn't 10 and a half to Monza. This is 12 and a half. Arizona plus 12 and a half. And they just straight up beat them. They outplayed them. I mean, they settled for field goal after field goal after field goal, which I thought could cost them at the end. But they were covering literally every second of that game. And then I will admit, one I got a little lucky on. Raiders plus five and a half against Buffalo. Trey Tucker, bomb from Kirk Cousins down 10 for the beautiful backdoor cover to get us, you know, from losing that game outright. But it would have been a little unlucky. I mean, Josh Allen had a shot put pass that went to the wrong guy that was play of the year in the NFL. So that's four
and one. We're 15 and 15. Let's now get to the games we will not be picking this week.
In London, you got Pittsburgh versus New Orleans. New Orleans, three and a half point dogs.
I think New Orleans is bad. I think Pittsburgh is above average. I know New Orleans coming off a win last week. However, if the Jags aren't involved, I tend to go with the dogs in these. And it's not London. It's Paris, I think. Or not, I think. I know it's in Paris. You're fine. But it's in Paris with all the unrest in Paris right now. I typically like to go with the dogs in the international games because they're weird games, especially if I'm getting more than a field goal. But I don't trust New Orleans at all.
And Pittsburgh is, you know, playing pretty well as of late. So I'm just staying away from it. I don't feel like laying three and a half points with Pittsburgh on a neutral site. But I also am not taking New Orleans.
Next. Giants at Houston. Houston's 10 and a half point favorites.
So here's the deal on this game. I might end up picking, just have a little taste on, Giants' money line, just because it helps me so much in Survivor, but also because there is an outside chance, a very outside chance, that J.J. McCarthy can continue that momentum he had last week. What is far, far more likely is that Houston makes him look like the player that the Vikings just gave away and Houston blows him out. But because I think there is a chance, I think if the Giants, I don't think this is a backdoor cover game. I think if they cover, it's because they win. But I also think they might just lose 31-3 and just be totally outclassed.
I will tell you this. The Minnesota Vikings brain trust is someone is going to be watching this game. And if JJ McCarthy looks good, it's such an embarrassing catastrophe for them. A guy that was controversial that they took him in the first round. Then they snap gave up on him. Because Kyler Murray's there. Now, I know they're undefeated, everything's all good, but that offense has not been good.
The Vikings really need J.J. to not look good in this game. I doubt he will, but I'm kind of hoping he does, and so we're staying away from it.
Next. Tampa Bay, Carolina. Carolina's three-and-a-half point favorites.
Listen, Todd Bowles isn't naming a starting quarterback until Friday. I know you guys are hearing this on Friday, but we're doing it on Thursday. Any game where we don't know definitively who the starting quarterback is is just the definition of a stay away. Next.
Cleveland at Tennessee. Tennessee's one and a half point favorite. Or Dawgs. Sorry.
I know Cleveland's four and two. I still can't stomach the idea of laying points with the Browns in a road game. I just can't stomach it. I also can't stomach the idea. I just can't. I can't stomach the idea of picking the Titans where I'm getting less than a field goal, where I need the Titans to win, essentially.
So that's why I'm staying. away from it. Next.
Green Bay and Detroit. Detroit's three and a half point favorites.
I was all over Green Bay. And then I saw Parkins likely was. And I was like, you know what? I'm staying away. He's been ice cold. He's as public as the public gets. And Detroit off a bye. Detroit getting healthier on defense. The Detroit defense has been bad enough that I don't feel comfortable laying more than a field goal with them against any legitimate team right now. However, because they're off a bye and because they... are getting some guys back on defense. I don't want to take Green Bay, and I just think Green Bay is going to be the most. I think the most public dog this week will be Green Bay plus the three and a half, so I'm staying away from it.
Cincinnati at Baltimore. Baltimore is one and a half point dogs.
Yeah, again, this is the same rule as before. I'm not certain who's playing quarterback. And so because of that, obviously if we thought Lamar was playing, you jump on this because if Lamar's playing, Baltimore will be three, three and a half point favorites. I don't know who's playing quarterback. And if it's announced officially Lamar's not playing, my guess is Cincinnati goes to two and a half point favorites.
But we don't know who's playing quarterback. It's maybe a flaw of doing these on Thursday, so we're staying away.
Next. Denver at Arizona. Arizona's four and a half point dogs.
I am not laying more than a field goal with Bo Nix. I also don't feel great about that Arizona offense against this Denver defense, particularly with Jonathan Cooper back fresh off the... I should have mentioned that with Green Bay. They have Josh Jacobs back fresh off the commissioner's exempt list.
Arizona has... Or Denver has Jonathan Cooper back fresh off the commissioner's exempt list. Commissioner's exempt list got cleared except for Terry and Arnold, who, again, facing life in prison. So I don't think he's going to be cleared from the commissioners or exemplars. Really tough spot. We've talked about it.
I get queasy thinking about it. Arizona just being.
A super team. Come on now.
That is correct. So listen, I'm rooting for Arizona. But Arizona this year has beaten the LA teams and that's it, right? They've beaten the Chargers and they've beaten the Rams and that's it. I'm just staying away from it. Last one.
Rams at Vegas, Vegas three and a half point dogs?
I think the Rams win. As I mentioned, I'm considering the Rams for Survivor. But this might just be year from hell. And the Raiders can move the ball now. My guy Ashton Gentry has not been very good, but the Raiders can move the ball. And... Miles Garrett's not going to be back this week. There's no Devontae Adams.
I'm just anxious.
About the game.
Maybe. If the Raiders win, the Rams season's over. The Rams have to go 4-0 headed into the bye. The Rams have Raiders, Chargers, Commanders, Cardinals. They can go 4-0. But if they don't, Demondze, if they... get to a fifth loss before the bye, I believe they're finished. Because here are their final seven. Packers, Chiefs, Niners, Cowboys, Seahawks, Bucks, Seahawks.
I don't think that they will survive that if they have five losses going into it. So I think the Rams are all of a sudden in a little bit of a mid-season playoff mode. They have to win. I think they will win. If they lose, I think they're done. And so those are the games we are staying away from. With that said, let me tell you guys before we get to our picks about my friends at Polymarket, the newest and best prediction market there is. It's the best way to trade in sports. In the past, If you wanted action on the game, put some money in, and if your team was doing well, you wanted to cash out, they'd lock the trade or they'd take a huge fee.
Not Polymarket. Polymarket's a prediction market. It's a stock exchange for sports. Buying in and selling out on your terms. I've tried all the prediction markets and Polymarket is flatly the best prediction market there is. They are so confident. You'll never go back to the other guys. They're giving you a free $ 25 on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10. And now they've launched a new feature, squads, group chat, where you can see what everyone's trading on.
So download the Polymarket app today. Use code NICKWRIGHT when you sign up. That's code NICKWRIGHT to get $ 25 free after you deposit just $ 10. All right, it's time now, DeMondsey. For Nick's Picks, brought to you by our friends at Polymarket. So, let's get right to it.
Jets minus four and a half versus Miami.
Listen, there's a lot of reasons. All the trends say Miami is the play here. They're off a bye, which I care about. They are winless. It's a divisional game. All of these things. I don't know that off a buy helps Miami as much as it would a normal team, because I do think there's a possibility. Some of the guys on the dolphins are like, yeah, I mean, we kind of know what's what this year, like let's enjoy our week off. So I don't know if they're going to come back, like totally dialed. Um, So there's that piece of it. I don't think it's like, this week, get in that training room, feel better, get ready for this push. I don't think that's how it's going to go.
Fair enough.
The Dolphins literally have not come within four and a half points of any team they've played this season. They have lost by 14-22, 14-5-7. Jets on the flip side. Decent. Week one beat the Titans. Week two, close, kind of blown game against the Packers. Week three, the Lions controlled that game, if I remember it correctly. Or did the Lions have a late?
No.
That game against the Lions is 24-24 with three minutes left. Lions, you know, Lions end up winning it. The Bears dominated them, dominated them. They beat the Browns. And I thought Geno looked good against the Patriots. So like Gino is this year to Monza seven touchdowns, one pick a one Oh two rating. They're at home. I, the dolphins are not good now. Am I nervous as I'm talking about it? Yeah.
Does the Aaron Glenn factor make me anxious? Sure. But jets minus four and a half we're rolling with next.
All right, you got some crazy games in here. You got Indy plus six and a half at Minnesota. These are like stay away. Never mind.
No, I mean, no, you can say they're stay away.
It's totally fine. I was going to say stay away from the TV. Oh, yeah.
Oh, games you don't want to watch. Yeah, I understand that. The Colts lost last week because of their special teams. The Vikings offense, to me, does not deserve to be touchdown favorites against a team in Indy that I do think, because of Jonathan Taylor, is going to be able to move the ball somewhat. Week one, the Vikings blew out the Packers in the weirdest blowout of all time, where they were down in that game 22-10 late in the third quarter. and then scored 29 consecutive points to blow them out. Aside from that, they're not blowing people out.
They beat the bears by six. They beat the dolphins by five. They beat the bucks by seven. Uh, They beat the Saints by 10 in a game that, again, was tied going into the fourth quarter. Now, they are off a bye, which I do like for them. And we will find out this week if the Colts don't like Shane Steichen. I imagine they do like Shane Steichen.
I say that the players I'm talking about because GM just got fired. And if you don't like the coach, you can kind of roll over and he'll be clipped too. But I'll take the Colts plus the points to keep their season alive. uh basically fading the vikings offense.
Next atlanta plus two and a half versus san francisco.
So this is the one where you know most places are going to have it at three so we're either two and a half or three and a half but the more accurate, closer to no vig number would be two and a half. So I'm costing myself a critical half point.
You think the Falcons are going to win? I don't.
Here's what I do think. I don't have a rationale as to why the Falcons will win. Let me say that. Aside from fact, No Mike Evans, I think, could be really, really problematic for San Francisco. 100% of my analysis on this game is, if we were to get a room and put in the room the 100 worst NFL pickers in the country, the 100 most losing pickers there are, And ask those hundred, what is your favorite game of the weekend? 85 of them would say the Niners minus two and a half.
That's it.
Every single bad NFL picker is going to love the Niners this week. Now, listen, even the bad pickers get some right, but I just know this is, you are going to see from covers.com or somebody Sunday morning, 88% of the, of the picks and 92% of the money is on San Francisco. Everyone is going to be on the, the undefeated Niners against Atlanta, whose quarterback just got his ribs cracked up and, or, you know, got knocked out of the game. Last time we saw him was to a, however, Niners played Monday. Atlanta played Thursday.
Right?
The Falcons game, that was a Thursday night game that where.
Falcons-Bears.
Am I tripping?
Hold on.
When did the Falcons play?
When did the Falcons play the Bears last Friday?
No, they played the Bears. It was the Thursday before against the Ravens when we saw... So it's only a short... It's not X-Rest for Atlanta. The Falcons did play on a Thursday, but it was Thursday before. Short rest for San Francisco. Again, I don't have I just know all the bad. The people who are the worst at this love San Francisco this week. So I'll go with Atlanta.
That's the rationale.
Kansas City plus two and a half at Seattle.
We don't have a lot of rules on this show. One of them is Patrick Mahomes is getting points. We take the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes as an underdog. 13-3-1 against the spread. 12-5 straight up. Patrick Mahomes as a road underdog. 10-1-1 against the spread. That's it. I think the Chiefs can lose. I think they're supposed to lose. I think they likely will lose. But we must stick with our rules for this show. If the Chiefs, if Patrick Mahomes is getting points, they're an auto-fire. which means we're going to have a few opportunities this year. We're going to take him plus the three and a half.
Last but not least, Philadelphia plus four and a half versus Dallas.
What have I said about bad young quarterbacks? The thing that can make teams believe in them or make the public think they're better than they are is if they get to play a defense that reminds them of their college success. First read open. Dallas' defense is that. Philly's defense, on the other hand, as banged up as Philly is, as bad as this season's been, Philly's defense still can be an elite defense. So I think Tanner McKee will look much better than he did last week. I think I've got a Philly defense that might be able to slow down this Dallas offense that has struggled mightily the last.
Two weeks of it.
I am getting four and a half points. It's a divisional game. They're at home. And for Philly, this is, you know, there is a real, even all the injuries on offense, there is the real chance that the defense by itself keeps them in this game. So not saying Philly's going to win, but Philly getting four and a half at home in a divisional game against a bad defense, I'll take it.
Maybe a little bit of do it for Hertz energy in there.
Yeah, maybe. Yeah, I mean something, or at least temporarily. So I'm taking one favorite and four dogs. Jets minus four and a half at home against Miami. Indy getting six and a half at Minnesota.
Atlanta.
Getting two and a half at home against San Francisco. Kansas City getting two and a half at Seattle and Philadelphia getting four and a half at home against Dallas. All right, before we get to touchdown genie, which I can't remember the last time I hit one of those, Boost Mobile's proving you don't have to overpay for great wireless.

It's just all Kenneth Walker all the time. This week, I'm going to Paris for the touchdown, Jeannie. Who am I going with?
Oh, we got DK Metcalf for 36%.
Yes, just worse than 2-1. Rodgers wheeling and dealing against a bad Saints defense that J.J. McCarthy moved the ball on. Let's get DK a touchdown. Your teaser finally ended its hot streak. Let's talk about DeMonte's teaser last week. You couldn't really see this coming.
What happened? So, yeah, Cleveland plus 13 and a half. Philly plus 9. They won outright. Yeah. Brutal. Philly plus 9 and a half. I feel like it should have, like, an asterisk on it or something. Like, I don't even know. The quarterback didn't have any sleep. Houston plus 10 and a half. So, it failed.
Just to be clear, just real quick. The quarterback didn't have any sleep game was the week before. This was the game that Tanner McKee, you just knowingly went with Tanner McKee. Just to not let you off the hook fully. With that said, you were down five. Catch it. Pardon me. Down five midway through the fourth quarter. Catching ten and a half or nine and a half.
I don't know if this information was known when I made these picks. Was it like? I don't think that was the case.
No, we knew he was out. We knew he was out. I apologize to tell you. Did we not know he was out on Thursday? Whatever it was.
Thursday. Last Wednesday. Okay, yeah, Thursday. Last Thursday.
No, I think, I don't know. Regardless, a loser's a loser. Sorry, and Houston won outright. All right, what are you going with this week?
This week, you got a three-team eight-point teaser. I'm going to go with Indy up to plus 14.5. Cleveland again. Up to plus 6.5, and then I got the Giants at plus 18.5 against Houston. I say this with love and affection.
Yeah, for the other side of it. I hate this one more than any you've done in a very long time.
Jesus.
I'm sorry.
It can be.
Well, I mean, the Cleveland one is just atrocious. I understand the idea of you're getting six and a half against the Titans, but you're going across the zero and not even getting the seven.
Every team that I've won this year, I've gone across the zero.
Well, you know what? I don't love that process. And the Giants can just lose by a thousand. I just don't listen. I'll be rooting for you, buddy. But I'm giving this a D. I'm not giving it an F. I'm giving it a D. All right, what's the offer this week?
So the producers think the Seahawks' 35-game streak of not letting a rusher go for over 100 yards is over. So this week, Kenneth Walker, 100-plus rushing yards at 40%. You take it.
So that's plus 150? I'll take it. Kenneth Walker, revenge game. Let's go. Good job, producers. I'll take it. Huge shout out to Polymarket and Boost Mobile. Also a huge shout out to The Volume and to Blue Duck. Everyone enjoy the games this weekend. Let's root for my survivor pick, which I'll tweet out at 1 o'clock, and then every other underdog to win. Let's just root for one favorite to win, the one I picked, and then every other underdog to win. and show up here on Tuesday with like 200 people left in that contest with 21 million on the line. We would love that. Thank you to Monza.
Great work. Everyone have a wonderful day. weekend. Thank you for subscribing to the show. See you guys next week. We'll turn.
