The Retreat That Taught Me: Surrender, Ancestors & the Magic of La Catrina

What happens when you board a plane with no lesson plan and a promise to stop gripping the wheel? I flew to Puerto Vallarta for Dia de los Muertos expecting to teach—and instead got schooled by trust, La Catrina, and the Sierra Madre herself.

I share how a travel agent’s nudge toward La Catrina reframed mediumship as joyful remembrance, not fear, and how studying the ofrenda’s elements and tiers unlocked a living map: shamanic work in the lower world, mediumship in the middle, Akashic insight in the upper. Then the universe flexed. A friend “just happened” to leave a bag of crystals at my hotel. I built a simple altar in a sterile room and watched the energy soften. When it was time to teach, I named the frame—and surrendered the rest. What followed was a channeled activation from the land and a frequency upgrade each person’s team was ready to deliver. Tears. Synchronicities. Relief. A stranger’s card mirroring her morning watercolor. Pain easing. Shared visions in the records from people seated side‑by‑side.

We moved from story into practice with ancestral mediumship: clearing lineage patterns, meeting ancestors who want to help, and naming the soul reasons we chose our families. Themes emerged—entrepreneurial threads, motherline healing, seasons of sons resetting the field. The real lesson sat beneath it all: trust is not passive. It’s active, embodied, and sometimes loud. Control can’t conjure alignment; collaboration can. When I stopped over‑engineering and let spirit lead, the curriculum arrived, the tools appeared, and the room remembered why we were there.

If you’re ready to experiment with surrender, this one is for you. Listen for the framework, feel the activation, and take the first small step with your team. Then tell me your “you can’t make this up” moment. Subscribe, share with a friend who needs courage, and leave a review so more seekers can find their way.
