What's the difference between an Orangutan-Deer and a Man-Moose? Katie and Jordan really try to figure that out while they discuss Avatar: Seven Havens Chapter 10: "Ghosts and Spirits" and Katie definitely expected this to be a way spooked episode.
Jordan thinks Geet has been shrinking over the past few episodes and goes off on a tangent about 90s choking hazard nightmare candy Wonder Ball after watching Pavi turn into one.
Katie keeps calling Nisha and Pavi's parents "farmers".
All of Jae's deception is stressing Katie out.
Jordan isn't stoked about Pavi's newfound ability to vibration-sense and feels like more of her abilities need to feel earned.
Katie is curious how Pavi got out of Ellora when a group of kids couldn't help their sick mom.
And what exactly did Nisha see when she touched the freaky Cosmic Cube? Jordan and Katie try to figure it out. Beware the cube!

Nisha touches the cosmic cube.
Puppy, I don't know, has all these new secret talents.
She has way too many, and I think I'm gonna say I think they're unearned. We meet a spirit. We do, and Katie has a very fun name for that spirit. I was very surprised that we we gave her this name. I said orangutane deer, but stay tuned and you can hear what Katie decided to call the first spirit we met in Avatar Seven Havens.
Alright, everyone, saddle up your orangutan deer. Let's get to it.
Yeah.
Welcome to Yip Yip Ray and Avatar Podcast. I am your co-host, co-founder, CEO, chief creative officer, head punk.
Head patter on the backer.
Patter on the backer? That's true. I do pat you on the back pretty well. Especially when she gets gassy, and so I throw her over my shoulder and I do a little pat pat until she burp burps. Anyway, sup, everybody. It's me, Jordan. Uh, a certified Nickelodeon-recognized Avatar super fan. Specifically Avatar the Last Airbender.
I have received accolades.
Yeah, you're not certified for these other shows.
Nope, I am unqualified. Who are you?
Uh I am your wife.
And you're the only person around who wants to talk to me in person about Avatar.
Uh, my name's Katie, and I'm here, and I have watched Avatar and Korra and Seven Havens. I guess Avatar the Last Airbender is.
Yeah, good job.
Well, we don't talk technicality.
When you were in high school or growing up, would you uh sit around and and talk with your friends about your theories about your favorite TV shows you were watching?
I don't think I talked to anybody about anything I watched.
No, you weren't like sitting around being like, so that's so Raven.
Maybe Jessica and I talked about Degrassi. Like the Canadian show.
Okay, but would you theorize or like break down episodes?
No.
So is this like a new is this was like a new thing for you? Being like, oh, this guy just kind of wants to like just chat about this a bunch.
You know, you and I went and watched Frozen seven times at the movie theater, and I feel like we did a lot of like learning, discussing. Stop that. So I mean that should have been my first clue. Uh no, this is a new thing for me. New as in when we started this podcast.
Many years ago. Anyway, I found out yesterday that my brother diagnosed me as neurodivergent.
Okay, but you know what? Who isn't? I feel like being neurodivergent is really in right now. I mean, I think I bet everyone listening to this podcast is like, yeah, I've taken a quiz.
Up you guys. Yeah, BuzzFeed was all good to us, right? Anyway. This is Yip Yipparay, an Avatar podcast. Every episode we kind of chat about what's going on with Seven Happen. Heaven.
Heaven.
Anyway, on this hot, fresh episode, we talk about book one survival, chapter 10, Ghosts and Spirits, but not spirits like liquor.
I was nervous about ghosts and spirits. I was like it was gonna be spooky again.
Zero spooky. We you it should have been spooky because this premiered on the 30th. So it was Halloween Eve. Right. All Hallows Eve Eve.
So I was expecting it to be a little more Spooktacular.
A little more ghosts, a little more spirits. Hey, this is the season premiere of this mini batch of season episodes.
It was it was pretty light.
I'm gonna say this was one of the most unsatisfying episodes of the run so far.
Even though we did like progress the story further, because I was like, oh, are we really like is anything gonna happen? Okay, but what progressed? Okay. By progressed, I mean like the girls were reunited, like we go to like the home, we see like, you know, a little bit more of the puzzle.
But what's the purpose of seeing the home? Like, what does that progress?
To be like, right, are their parents alive? Are they gone? It's like we don't know. Right. Or were they at at their house waiting for them to return? Obviously, they're not.
Okay. Well, at no point did I think that was a possibility, but you're saying that theoretically, like that was a scenario that could be.
This episode was for me, so now I know.
Oh, good. We solved that. I wasn't into mom and dad's voice actors. I thought they're both flat.
I mean, I think not everybody can be a rock star.
So one of the big things that I think revealed about Puffy's little sparkly, golden-toned memory is that it showed that mom and dad were both aware from a young age that Nisha and Puffy were avatars.
Oh, because they were bending multiple elements?
Well, I mean, they were just I mean, they're airbending, but obviously if they're descended from traditional earth-bending folk, which is what we're led to believe, and then they're just wandering around airbending.
Yeah.
So they have normalized it, and mom and dad, to our knowledge, I don't know, are they hiding the kids? Are they just welding it up?
Right. Well, if they grew up in the same time period, and then they're like, well, we're just gonna like keep them hidden here and like in the boonies, and we'll just farm or whatever.
Well, they farm eggplants, is what we learned. Mm-hmm. Hmm. Eggplant. Out of all the plants, I mean, we shouldn't be talking about eggplants, right?
I was surprised that it was eggplants.
Yeah, me too.
You know, there was a moment in the episode that I thought, like, oh, or is it I don't know, I had a lot of different thoughts. It was Well, tell me.
Tell me what some of the thoughts were. They're all gone. I had a thought, and the thought isn't no more.
Uh well, when we did that intense flashback, I think you're gonna tell me what you saw, but I probably needed to rewind. Okay, what'd you see?
What'd you see?
Well, you know, when Nisha's like having her seeing, but that clearly has her all upset.
Her anomaly cube-induced vision. She did, you know, don't you do anomaly cube once and it's all over. Totally. And they keep going back for more.
So, yeah, I was like, oh, maybe they were like a part of the like cataclysm, and I don't know. But then I mean, maybe. But I don't know. In Nisha's reaction, I was like, did she kill her parents? Is that what we were like? Uh is that what we're getting at?
I didn't really think that. Maybe she banished them to the spirit world in that moment.
Well, because it just seems she was super sketch when Puppy, like when they were finally like reunited.
I'm glad that you picked up on that too, because clearly, like, Nisha's now withholding and lying to Puppy.
Right. And so that so that's not good. It's and out of fear, out of fear of how she's gonna react.
So we think about going back to all the fear talk we've had in this season and how that relates to the root chakra, you know, and we've seen in terms of color theory that they've been using this like striking crimson red color to demonstrate that and the root chakra. So when she's separated from mom and dad, I assume was separated during the storm.
unknown Okay.
It seems like Nisha kind of like freaks out and there was like red lightning that like shot out of her in the vision in that moment. So I don't know if she was like if she created the anomaly in that moment, or if she if like if the place that they went to was where that happened.
Right.
Like that, you know, cube forest. Mm-hmm. Like, do you think that's where they were separated? In my mind, she caused that. Like Nisha created that little rock thing.
I mean, that would make sense.
Anyway, I think we've bit we've gotten like a foreshadow of something, and then we just pay it off in the next episode.
Yeah.
You know, it was like, oh, Puffy and Nisha are separated. Oh, here they're back again. And it's like, you know, last episode, we get the flashback for Cube Forest, and then we just see it this time.
Yeah. Oh, it's just kind of unsatisfying. I was surprised that they were that we reunited the girls.
I I was surprised also. Also, I didn't appreciate that throughout this episode, both of them, both Puffy and Nisha multiple times were like, Where are you? Where are you? I just I didn't I didn't bother.
I mean, I know, I didn't love it either. Okay, I wanna go back.
To the future?
I want to go back to the beginning of the series.
So it starts, Jay's on a scooter.
Now I want to talk about I want to talk about Jay.
Okay.
Jay, you know, he's trying to be the big man. But I feel like the Chancellor, obviously paranoid still, and it's like, what else are you keeping from me, or what else do you know? Jay trying to keep it cool. It's like, oh yeah, the twin sister. Nope, just an earthbender. I'm like, oh my god. And it just sucks because alright, there was like an opportunity, but obviously there was no there's no path for him to For Jay to say, well, she's also an avatar, so God.
Like, what do you what would you have him do?
Exactly. I think there there is no other there is no other path. So, you know, it just stresses me out that he has to lie to her and that, you know, she's like, Oh my god, what else are you lying about? And he's like, nothing. Like, I am loyal to Alora. But then in that same thing, because it's like clearly the boyfriend His name is Datu.
Datu and Kayoko are spending a lot of time together, and like they're having an affair.
They are she's clearly thirsty for something.
You know, in both scenarios, we're like fooled by their like Ooh, their lover. Mm-hmm.
You know, and I'm just like So you you traditionally lying and withholding and skating around the truth and not being direct, like really are things that stress you out?
That's not good for me. And so, yeah, we're like Datu's ready to, you know, for them to be on the same page and blah blah blah. But I'm like, is there a is there a a path where Datu and Kayoku kind of like team up and they are like, you know, go scorched earth on their like lovers that have been lying and all this?
We don't know Datu enough to like understand if he he could do that, but Kyoko, yeah, 1000%.
Well for sure. But see you do But I'm like, right, is Datu gonna be like, oh yeah, I totally get why you're you've just been lying this whole time and that you had I don't know.
But we also don't know if anybody could get through to Kaioko. Like, we're not talking to any of the other counselors like in Alora, which you know, we're we only see Kaioko, like we just see the Supreme Chancellor. How many palpating references can I tell you?
No, but every time he like shoots the lightning at me, like get your little fingers out of here.
Okay, but in that little like mess of a sandwich of Datu and Kayoko, and like they're hanging out and just walking around, we see an ostrich horse, and nothing makes me feel more comfortable than seeing an ostrich horse. It just brings me back to Book 2 Earth in Avatar The Last Airbender. So much ostrich horse.
When like Zuku steals that's a little bit more. Yeah, Zoku.
You sound like your brother who he called Katara Hangora or something.
I'm gonna say I should have apologized at the beginning of the episode. I am a little tuckered.
Why? Because you just had a birthday yesterday. Oh my gosh, yippers, let's all say happy birthday to Katie.
I have happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. We've never seen a birthday, and after the last hairbender, no one has any cake. Except you get cake. Katie, cakey. Happy birthday to you.
So yeah, that and the time change and Halloween, and this is one of the reasons why we've been off the air for so many days.
I will say, that little song Jordan just did is the first time anybody sang happy birthday to me. And that includes me. It's true. That includes me. It's true. It did not happen yesterday.
Not at all. We baited several people.
Oh yeah. No, like nobody could commit. It was like, it's like, no.
Oh, that sucks. I had so many opportunities yesterday.
Anyway, but overall, it was a great day. It was a great birthday. But I am tired. Well, I'm tired.
Then let's talk about ostrich horses some more. Okay.
Well, do we have to?
No, because then we finally see Puffy, and that's like all weird because we have the Azula street urchin whose name is like I know. Amo, who I'm not into that kid. I am not. I'm not into them either. Zero. It's stressful. I just think there's like some side characters that are just they don't really give you anything.
They're just kind of there to serve as plot stuff.
And right, like we give up the like brooch thing. Yeah.
And then the kid's just gonna have it. If you don't respect the brooch, then you don't respect me. But my favorite part about that interaction was Puffy putting herself in like the I'm gonna call it the ang ball from the finale. You know, he puts himself in a little ball, but then she just like rolls up the side.
I like that. That was this episode's womp romp womp top bending moment. Womp womp womp top bending moment. Did you have a top bending moment? Because that was mine, because it looked like hold on, stay with me. It looked like Ostridge Horse. It looked like a wonderball. Okay. That sweet, sweet late 90s chocolate confection.
No free pup. I don't even know what you're talking about.
Hey, Wonder Ball, if you were still doing stuff, can we talk? We uh if you could send us Unlimited Wonderball, that would be great. I would do something, I would twist if no one listening knows what a wonder ball is, but I would twist the wonderball and I would like suck it to my face and then I'd leave it to I had like a Jafargo tea.
I don't even know what you're talking about. I only know the commercial.
What's in a wonder ball? I thought it was a toy.
There was sometimes a toy inside. Inside the chocolate wonderful. Well, obviously. Like same idea, like a chocolate ball. This is hollow, and the chocolate was terrible. And a chocolate orange is special.
Oh, but it was also hollow. A hollow ball.
Yeah, a wonder ball. That's because puffy went into a wonder ball. It's inherently going to be hollow.
I'm moving on. Were you surprised to see Sang again?
I was. And I'm very happy that Sang came back.
That's nice.
I'm also happy that Puffy knows this bug, can like identify this bug on site.
Yeah.
I also liked that Sang was like, I'm gonna go into Jay's shirt.
Again.
I'm gonna bite him. Bite him all over. I have a moment I'd like to talk about. I'd love to hear it. Okay, we're in the cave. Nisha and Ruhi are soaking wet. She doesn't even think about waterbending any of it off.
No.
You know, she's just gonna be there and be wet and ring, ring her out.
She is a child and she is inexperienced. I mean, like, right, whatever was happening at the beginning, where like she was trying to beat up the ostrich thing.
I thought, okay, also avatars and buzzard things, but they just don't get along. Aang hates them, Nisha hates them. It's it's their arch nemesis. Every time one is killed, it's reborn, and its sole purpose in life is to seek vengeance on the avatar. That's what it was doing. It was fulfilling its destiny.
Anyway, we're in the cave. Nisha's kind of beat up. Yeah, obviously is roughing it. It's been two weeks, allegedly. Again, it was that it was that it was that little nugget of time has passed. And we read it at the top of the episode. We gotta let you know time has passed. So she's just been kind of hanging out and eating dragon fruit durian in her cave.
It's sustaining her, I guess.
It is. So they're in the cave. She lights a fire and starts meditating. And I thought she was gonna get a vision from Puffy in that moment. Like that suit, we were gonna get some like force ghost kind of thing.
Right. I definitely thought we were having a sister moment.
So I was very surprised when I saw what can only be described as an orangutan deer.
Okay, well, I wrote down muscular man moose spirit.
Muscular man moose spirit.
I think it's like when you pause you pause to write something down. I thought I got it.
I thought I got it in the act break still, and I did not. It was like the haunches. The haunches on that man moose.
The legs were very defined, and like, but like the arms too. Like it definitely looked like a muscular man moose.
Spirit. Spirit. I was super creeped out by it. And I got really excited. I was like, ooh, this is like some sort of like freaky uh Princess Manonoke Miyazaki-esque creepy thing. Yeah. And then it they ruined it immediately.
I know, and that was like nothing. It was just a minute. I'm gonna walk you over here.
Again, I just think they were this was like an iffy animation episode. And the art style was still kind of weird for me too. I feel like the colors were like too sat, there was like overly saturated.
Hmm.
I wanted them to tone down the colors just a little bit.
That's just my that's my that's my one little nitpick.
But then she just kind of follows it. Is this our first instance of seeing a spirit in the series?
I think so.
I think so too. And I'm glad it could be the mystical man moose spirit.
Me too.
But so what was the point of the spirit world bringing her to that spot where she was seen, she was shown that vision through the anomaly.
Which makes me think there's still like a like a a spirit world anomaly connection.
Right. Right. Well, when I was like, oh, it's more like cosmic, I was like, we're going to like another thing here.
Oh, right. Because we thought that Puffy was still gonna be hanging out there.
Well, because she was still yeah, she passed out, but yeah, we don't talk about what she experienced.
No.
And I think we should. That's the thing that we should have paid off in this episode is Puppy, like, I don't know who she'd talk to about it. Geet. Yeah. Also, Geet, I think Geet has shrunk. Gete, I think, was larger earlier in the series. Yeah, I think you're Yeah, there was a moment where Puffy and Geet were standing side by side, and I was like, she's bigger than him.
He's Momo.
Um gripe, gripe, gripe. Here's Jordan doing the gripe. That's right, because he's an Avatar Super fan. Yeah, and you can't make me happy.
Because that's what fans do.
Mm-hmm.
Okay, so overall, what are we thinking about the spirit? Just silent, creepy. Sunken eyes, like no eyes. I thought it was gonna be freakier. And yeah, I mean, it was like an interesting, like slightly unsettling. It looked wet.
Also, I mean, I also feel like this was like the only moment we've seen with like Nisha, right? Where she was like, okay, I'm gonna be like quiet and you know, meditate and blah blah blah. You know, so maybe I guess it was nice to see that maybe she could uh try to connect, not that she was trying to connect with the spirits, but you know, there's something there.
Maybe she's got it, she's got it in her she's not as disconnected from that stuff as Korra, which is it seems like maybe Nisha's a little more balanced as a person. Like it's this is not a theme that Seven Havens is interested in exploring with this character. I do have a question though. Yeah, please.
I'm a I'm a super fan.
How did Puffy get out of Alora when there's a citywide crackdown? And she just wrote on out and was like, I'm just gonna go to mom and dad's house real quick.
She I don't know. I've I'm gonna I'm gonna say it got a pass from me because clearly we know that she's just been on the streets and she knows like back alleys and ways to go. That's the only thing I got.
And then clearly the guards were like, Alright, there she goes, and we're going too with our binoculars.
I think it was a telescope. With our telescope. Thank you. But right, how did she get out the door? You'd think that the door would be closed. Right.
Like those kids are like, my mom's sick, and they're like, nope.
Right. Yeah. Again, this was an unsatisfying plot holy episode. It was kind of swiss cheesy. And this is the problem with having series that have a shorter episode count. We have to have 13 episodes. There's not enough room to breathe. Versus you get 20 in the previous in in Last Airbender. And obviously, what by doing that you get situations where you have the great divide.
Right. I mean, I feel like that was too much. It was too much, but also it gave you opportunity to just things had a little bit more breathing room. Everything didn't seem like it was hinged on solving a mystery, addressing a mystery. And so here you're kind of like, you know, these holes kind of start to exist when you do that.
What did you think of the family fly family flashback?
Ah, it was fine.
I mean, I was just like, okay. Puppy's like, do-do-do. I mean, like, here at the tree, there's nothing here.
Also, I feel like the tree was like super close to Alora. Yeah. It makes it seem like the Harshlands should be like a really expansive, wide open space. I feel like the tree and where they lived should have been farther out.
I agree. But yeah, and then like Geet's like, I think there's something here or whatever. And so then she just touches the sand and it's like, alright, there's something here, and I'm gonna like I zero liked that.
Because it was implied that she was doing Toph's vibration sensing. But Top mentioned very early on that sand is like really hard to do, but it also the animation was different, like it was kind of red, and then the background kind of they did this funky like if the background disappeared, then kind of like fade in, reappeared.
Yeah.
Didn't love it, but because it was red, it made me think maybe it was cosmically triggered through her experience with the anomaly root chakra. That's my explanation on it.
Okay.
I don't love it, and it just seems like she just gained the ability to sense things by touching it.
No, she just did that and then like blew the sand, and then she's in there, and then all of a sudden, just the flashback is happening.
Yeah. Okay.
It's like, how is this happening?
The thing with Puffy having her like moment of maybe it was vibration bending, I don't know, is that a lot of the things and a lot of the ways that people really enjoyed After the Last Airbender is these characters struggle and they grow and they adapt and their powers grow and struggle and adapt as the series goes on.
That's why when we find out, like, you know, Toph's ability to sense vibrations in the ground, that's born out of her disability, and she has to learn how to do that. And she has to learn how to do it by being with the badger moles, you know, all. This stuff had a reason. And I think maybe the current crew on Seven Havens didn't really want to waste time putting them through more trials to like unlock an ability.
So they're just gonna give it to them. And so again, these are like nine-year-olds. We're just kind of like, I don't know, it's dumbing down, is what comes to mind. Yeah. You know, it's like, oh, they're bending prodigies, like they can bend everything, no problem. Like they that we haven't seen them really train much.
They just kind of have things.
No.
So yeah, I didn't love it. It felt a little clunky. But yeah, going in the house, and you we all know if you go to a place that you haven't been to a long time, like memories just kind of be triggered. I mean, and how they did it was a little awkward because it seemed like all their past memories have had something intense to unlock them, and this was just puppy walking in the door.
Right. But this thing that she really, really wanted. I mean, I was happy to to see it, to be there, and it was fun to watch the girls run around and with all their all four legs.
I saw. But then also the implication that they had geet and rohi since they were little.
Yeah, that was fun. Back when they were cute.
No. Well, I mean, they've they're shrinking. They're going back the other the other side. That's true.
They're gonna be so small next episode.
I thought their house seemed really small. It was very kind of like igloo-y, like this dome.
They're farmers.
I think they're jewelers, is what we were told.
They're jewelers.
I know that you were really feeling that eggplant situation. I was. But they're allegedly jewelers.
Okay. Well, tell me, Avatar Superfan.
Yes.
Beep beep. What do you think that Nisha saw? Or what do you know?
When she touched the cube.
Yeah.
Well, like I was saying, I think she got a vision of like what caused them to separate. And so I think maybe she now has knowledge on what happened to the parents that maybe we didn't see as viewers because it wasn't super clear. Okay. So you think intentionally unclear. Maybe. And maybe she saw more than what we saw.
Well, what's your prediction?
My prediction is that something happened. Nisha triggered something, and she activated some dormant thing, whether that was the anomaly, or maybe she is the reason, like the root chakra, the cosmic world root chakra is blocked.
Or maybe, okay, my theory, I think. It's right, they were like airbending, they're little avatars, they're just enjoying their lives, and then maybe uh they learn what that actually means, and that if you're a bender, let alone the avatar, uh, you were gonna be separated from mom and dad. And so maybe there was like the fear was triggered, and maybe there was gonna be a handoff or something, like right.
Something was gonna go down, and yeah, Nisha just like the fear took over, and she I don't know, she did something.
Nisha's character is a really good example of projecting an image based on what she believes herself to be. Like she's like, I'm the avatar, so what does that mean? Like, I'm I'm I'm gonna be beloved, I'm gonna be so powerful and talented. But Nisha does have a lot of fears and insecurities that bubble up, and I think that's strong character writing for her.
Can you relate to that?
Nope. So also Nisha did have a a moment early on in this episode where she was like, Oh, I'm the avatar. And she's like, what does that even mean anymore? So I mean she's questioning what's going on.
But I think, you know, time alone that can make you do that. You know, because clearly after she got with Karthik, it was like training every day, and there was just like around people. I mean, I was thinking that, like, just that she could maybe empathize with Puppy a little more, just like being out on her own and like right, like living off the desert fruit living off the land, just like her parents, the farmers.
Yeah, being in a cave, you know.
So you called it when they're stuck in the storm, and obviously they they mentioned it. They're like, Oh, what are we gonna do? There's a storm coming. Right. I don't know why they didn't just like bury themselves in the ground. Like that seemed like a pretty easy thing. Like, let's just use our earth bending to just like go like burrow.
I don't know. And obviously, plot-wise, there's they're kids, they're not Yeah, but they're also bending prodigies and clearly geniuses.
So once the dome started to form around them, me, the idiot, I was like, Do you think it's Jay?
Do you think Jay came to help them?
Jordan is confident it's Jay. Jay is there to save the day. And I was like, Jay is not, it's not Jay. Jay can't even save himself. I said it's Ugam. The sandbender woman. The sandworm is what I said.
Yes, and you were absolutely right, and that made total sense that it was her.
What do you think she is going to want from those girls?
Ooh, I right, because in my mind I was I was thinking, oh, she was just, you know, doing it out of the good of her heart, but clearly.
But if she's like everybody else and like maybe a little fearful of the avatar, I don't know. I mean, if like the whole world feels this way, but maybe that's not really true. Like maybe people don't actually feel that way.
Well, Ugum seems pretty chill around them. Even when the reveal happened that Nisha was the avatar, I mean, everyone kind of freaked out, and Ugh was like, eh, I guess I'll leave. Mm-hmm.
Yeah, there was Well, I mean, she just like took her down and was like, hey kid, you do not got it. Okay. So yeah, what do you think she's gonna want from them?
I guess maybe figuring out some passage to Republic Forest. I mean, that's kind of their goal right now.
Or do you think she's not gonna want anything? It's just gonna want to help them.
Well, she was like, I'm in the position to help you. I think they'll she'll want something. I mean, Ugham, I don't think, is going to be like an evil character.
I don't think so either.
Also, are we going to a temporary camp on their journey, or is this like a red herring and they're just like, this is actually their house now?
Well, I don't know, but I feel like company's coming.
Because those two guards, they found him. So yeah, the next episode is called Battle of the Ruins. So I believe we're uh I believe we're gonna get another brigade faceless off, but I don't care.
Okay, and then Jay's actually gonna be there, but Jay is gonna protect the girls.
Well I know, but this is I don't know, we're retreading the oh, there's been another reveal of the brigade is. I don't know. Because it's after the Battle of the Ruins, then it goes to the dome. So after that happens, are they piecing out? Like, are we hitting the road after that? Like this theory that we have.
I think the more the more stuff that's happening in Alora, the more I'm like, ah, we gotta get out of here.
We gotta get out of Alora. It's true. We're hitting the road. But I'm like, right, where was Karthik moved to? To a different facility where we're headed next.
He was probably uh wherever they put Ozai.
Wow.
Okay, I've got I've got a silly question. Out of all the characters we have met so far, who do you think is the best candidate to be related to one of the previous heroes from either Korra or Airbender?
Wow. That's quite a question.
Thanks. Uh as a English major and uh avatar scholar, it's my responsibility to ask these types of questions.
Are you asking this because you have an a theory? Nope. You have an answer?
Nope. Nope. I was just posing. I'm posing it. And you know, yippers, I'm gonna pose it to you too. Just feel feel the pose. Do you feel? Yeah, weigh in. Do you feel strong?
I uh hmm. I got nothing.
I feel like we can find out Jay is descended from somebody.
That'd be fun.
And maybe because I think Karthik would probably have revealed that if he had known. He's like, I'm descended from a strong line of airbenders all the way from Avatar Aang. Well, that's true. I think he would do that. I think we might find out Jay might have some sort of relation. And that would be a cool scene because it doesn't.
I don't know, I don't think it takes away from his character. I think it would add depth to his like his own journey and relationship with the girls.
Yeah.
And maybe more validating for him.
That would be nice.
That's my theory. Other theory, it could be Kayoko, you know, she could be descended from Zuko. She got them red eyes. She could be. Anyway, this could just be a really stupid conversation.
That's a great one. The kind of things my friends and I used to talk about at the lunch table at um at the high school. See, that's pretty good. Yep. We were the whole time. Real lady killers.
Uh yeah, or I would do bits. Yeah, those were the things that we would talk about. Specifically my senior year. Okay, when I was really mature. Well, I've got a nugget to bend.
No.
Yeah, a nugget, a topical bending nugget. Great. Bend it. This is this is it's been in the new well, kind of in the news. You shared with me top story. Friend of the pod, Kendall Byrd. She shared that New York City Mayor Mamdani shared something about some water system or filtration thing that's going on in New York City.
And I don't know if it was from him, because he's around my age. If it was from him or his staff, it was the probably the nerdiest political thing I'd ever seen in my entire life. Yeah, do you remember what he said? Yeah, he was like, just like Katara learned that water is healing and da-da-da-da-da.
And he specifically said episode 16, the deserter, and talked about Zhang Zhang. He he was all the heavy hitters.
Yeah, it was surprising, but it was nice.
And with just the confidence of addressing the beauty of that. How'd that make you feel that we had a a politician discussing Avatar the Last Airbender?
Well, I was thinking like, you know, he's trying to connect. And obviously, there are a lot of quote unquote adults that are like our age and younger. Andy, we know that Netflix put on Avatar the Last Airbender, and a lot more people have watched it.
So Yeah, there are dozens of us.
Maybe there are a lot of uh people getting that reference.
As there should be. Well, that's my bending nugget for today. That was fun. That was the news this was the news hour. Is your phone ringing?
Yes.
Who's calling you? Uh it's my little brother. Oh, Troy, who uh, if anyone's followed, he was on our podcast. He was one of our coasts. I miss him. Okay.
And we know he's working tomorrow.
Okay, yippers, we got a weird one. Instead of cold calling an Avatar fan, a Avatar fan is cold calling us.
Hold on. Hello. So I was just about ready to get into bed. Oh.
Well This is a good nighttime thing, Troy.
This is gonna take under two minutes.
You you have experience in martial arts, so do you did you think that those were represented well in Avatar the Last Airbender?
Uh yes. The discipline that it takes, yes.
What realm of martial arts are you good at, or which one did you study the most?
Uh Taekwondo.
So did you see any Taekwondo in Avatar the Last Airbender?
No, but I saw some Tai Chi.
Oh. Well, they're now doing like sandbending, so I don't know. If you were watching it, I feel like you'd be like, I don't know. It's like like a different type of martial art. Anyway.
Hey Troy, dude, thanks for calling. You know, everyone, wish Troy a happy bedtime.
Happy bedtime, Troy. Happy bedtime, Troy. Thanks for calling. Thank you, everyone.
Hey, love you, big guy.
Love you. Have a good night. Love you guys. Bye.
Bye. You know, we try our best here on Avatar. On Avatar.
Well, on Avatar, we do try our best. And you know, it doesn't always work out. I think I'm gonna say that was one of those instances that it wasn't quite.
You know, maybe cold calling people isn't isn't the way to go.
You know, but it sounds so fun to you and I.
It does sound fun to cold call someone.
Maybe we should cold call someone else.
Is this harassment? Are we gonna go to jail?
I think it's definitely harassment.
Oh my god. Okay, well, maybe this person. Hello! Dude, you watched Ghosts and Spirits, right?
I did.
I did watch Ghosts and Spirits, and then I watched the episode after that episode. Okay, well, don't say about that. Okay, well, now we can't talk to you, Caden. So um, I guess this is this is this has been a great conversation. Hey, Caden, thank you so much for answering this, and thank you for going ahead of us without my permission.
I'm so sorry.
Hey, we've talked to both of our brothers now. Bye.
Bye. This sucks.
All right, yippers. That was it. That's all we got. I still think this episode is kind of unsatisfying. It felt like a reset episode, like we're coming down from the high of the two-parter.
I feel like so many things have been a high. So it's just, it's fine. It was fine. It wasn't it was fine.
It was fine. So next time we're gonna talk about chapter 11, Battle of the Ruins. I know. Hopefully it's not. I don't know. And what I want it to be is Earth Rumble 107. We're going back to the blind bandit.
Wow.
We're getting Earth Rumble. We're bringing it back. Maybe. So, Yippers, if you want to. Yippers, even if you don't want to. Share this podcast with someone you think that would enjoy it. And we'll also have a little link if you want to give us a voicemail with your beautiful pipes, your throat pipes.
And you can weigh in about who you think could be potentially a descendant of Descendants. Oh my god.
Excellent. Well, we're gonna go keep talking about who the real descendants could be, and maybe we should get an Avatar the Last Airbender musical. I think we should get it on Broadway.
Make it happen.
Yeah. Avatar State. Yep, yep.
unknown Yep. Yep.
Oh.
unknown Yep.
Well, until next time, I'm gonna deal with that. And you guys stay safe. Bend the elements. Bend your heart. We love ya.
unknown Yep.
Yeah. I don't think the spirits are like innately connected to Halloween.
No, I don't think so.
When Ang goes to the spirit world, he's like, ah, where's all the candy?
Trick-or-treat. Trick-or-treat. Trick-or-treat. Trick-or-treat. Truck or treat.
Chuck it on. Shuck a con. Trick-or-treat. Trick-or-treat.
