From the St. Ignatius Chapel at the Manresa Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Center in Pickering, Ontario. The National Catholic Broadcasting Council presents the Daily TV Mass.

Hello and welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I'm Father John Burteo. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contribution from the estate of Victoria N. Watchell. This Mass is offered for the repose of the soul of Victoria N and for the for her living and deceased family members.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. We begin with the sign of our salvation in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Lord be with you.

And with you, our spirit.

Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sin and prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries, and together we say, I confess to Almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and what I have failed to do. Through my fault, through my fault, through my miscreious fault.

Therefore, I ask, Blessed Mary of the Virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord my God. May Almighty God have mercy on us. Forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life.

Amen.

Lord have mercy.

Lord have mercy.

Christ have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Let us pray. O God, who chose the Blessed Virgin Mary, foremost among the poor and humble, to be the mother of the Savior. Grant we pray that, following her example, we may offer you the homage of sincere faith and place in you all our hope of salvation.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

A reading from the letter of Paul to the Philippians. My brothers and sisters, what matters is this that Christ is proclaimed in every way, whether out of false movement motives or true. And in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, this will turn out for my deliverance.

It is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be put to shame in any way, but that by my speaking with all boldness, Christ will be exalted now, as always in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means a fruitful labor for me.

And I do not know which I prefer. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary for you. Since I am convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy and faith, so that I may share abundantly in your boasting in Christ Jesus when I come to you again.

The word of the Lord.

So my soul longs for you. For the living God, when shall I come and behold the face of God? My soul is thrusting for the living God. As I pour out my soul, my soul is thirsting for the living God. I went with the throng and led them in procession to the house of God with glad shouts and shouts of thanksgiving a multitude keeping festival.

My soul is thirsting for the living God.

Everything from the Holy Gospel according to Luke. On one occasion, when Jesus was going to the house of the leader of the Pharisees to eat a meal on the Sabbath, they were watching him closely. When Jesus noticed how the guests chose the places of honor, he told them a parable. When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, do not sit down at the place of honor, but in case someone more distinguished than you has been invited by your host.

And the host who invited both of you may come and say to you, Give this person your place. And then in disgrace you would start to take the lowest place. But when you are invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he may say to you, Friend, move up higher. Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.

For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. The Gospel of the Lord. And what a wonderful time it is to take this opportunity to pay the greatest honor that we could in this Saturday, in this Mass, to pray honor to Mary, the Mother of Jesus. See, friends, friends in Christ, every day provides us with a wonderful chance to grow in love of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Many Christians all over the world have the custom of honoring Our Lady on the Saturdays, which we try to do at our parish every chance we get. She will teach us to foster our humility keyword, our humility, which is fundamental to our growth in virtue. Here is a quote from St. John Marie Vianney, the patron saint of priests, and I quote from the old beautiful man who stated, Mary is the gate through which all God's graces pass.

She seasons our good actions, imparting an enhanced value, adding value to them all. She makes our offering even more acceptable to God. This is not me saying, this is St. John Mary Viani. She makes our offerings even more acceptable to God. Finally, he continues. Strong words, strong words. And concludes, this is because God has never been able to resist the supplication of a humble heart.

Amen to that. End quote. Mary is so necessary to our salvation that Jesus takes advantage of every opportunity to confer praise and blessings to his mother. Obviously, as you can tell, it's a mouthful, but it's so true regarding Mary. And in turning to today's gospel, have you, for example, ever been giving to thought to a place of honor, a place of honor on earth, for example?

Perhaps a banquet when everyone is watching you every every thing, every moment. As a personal example, to state that a place of honor is not always the best place to be. I recall one week after my ordination to the priesthood, I was invited to uh a wedding reception. Now, because I had to celebrate the Mass before going to the River reception, I was a little late at arriving.

Uh Benounce to me, when I got there, uh my chair was sitting at the head table next to the mother of the groom. Not very good place to be, especially for someone who's, well, I like to sort of take a back seat. However, after the dinner was finished, someone commented that I should have had a glass of wine with my dinner, even though I don't care for a glass of wine with dinner or at any time.

Also, this person commented, you should have had only one bowl of soup, not two, because you spoiled the second dish that was coming with so good. In other words, I was being watched. And this person criticized me for what I was doing or not doing. It's not a very good feeling. And I'm still not comfortable knowing that I am being watched and judged today, especially when I'm in a group of people, just to try and be like everyone else.

You see, in today's gospel we see that Jesus was invited to a banquet. At the table, there were places of greater and lesser honor. The invited guests were no doubt over anxious as to who would be to get the better seat. Jesus took notice of their concern. Perhaps he waited for the end of the meal before he made the comment that he made, as I'm going to repeat, as he stated.

Jesus had probably taken a lesser seat at the suggestion of his host. Jesus lived humility. He also noticed the bad manners that other guests have had. They were totally mistaken in not giving the best seat to the Lord Himself. The guests should have been overwhelmed by the presence of Jesus just right there in the room with them.

But they were thinking about themselves, perhaps. Just think. In the course of our lives, how often do we observe a similar experience? What an enormous effort people make to be noticed and remembered, perhaps even admired. Yet people put little effort into being closer to God, rather being noticed by other human beings.

Perhaps today in your prayers you can take some time and ask the Blessed Virgin Mary to teach all of us some humility. This is the only way to grow in love to her son and to get closer to him. And as I have been told many times, humility always wins the divine heart. Saint Maria Scriva once stated, and I quote, I am convinced every day that authentic humility is supernatural and basis for all virtues.

Talk to our lady so that she may train us to walk along the path of humility. Let me close with the final minor point that I came across, that when we look closely at the roots of the word of humility, we learn that it is derived from the Latin hummus, H-U-M-U-S, which means earth, soil, dirt. Also, humility signifies recognition of our human origin in the dust of which Adam was made, from the dirt.

The virtue of humility, therefore, consists in the living out of a realistic appraisal of our comparative insignificance as creatures who are totally dependent on God. To conclude, then humility leads us to discover that everything we have that is good comes from God. It's unloan to us, both in the order of nature and in the order of grace, all unloan to us on this earth.

Let us then turn our eyes to Mary. No creature ever surrendered herself to the plans of God more humbly than she, the handmaid of the Lord. So I close with a prayer for your reflection on Jesus and Mary. Lord Jesus, you became a servant for my sake to set me free from tyranny of sin, selfishness, and conceit.

Help me to be humble as you are humble, and to love freely and graciously all whom you called me to serve with your guidance and courage and with the help of our Heavenly Mother. Amen. And so for today we pray for all of those in our Daily TV Mass Intentions book, for all of them all, for you all of you, we pray to the Lord.

Lord you are in prayer.

Let us also pray that during this month of the Rosary, families may gather in prayer, finding it in the source of strength, unity, and love for their daily lives. We pray to the Lord. And for Mary's blessing upon all of us, every day of our lives. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for you who receive the bread we offer you. To the misery this order and wine become to share in the divinity of Christ, who humble themselves to share in our humanity.

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for humans as receive the wine we offer you, free to the vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink.

Blessed be God forever.

With humble spirit, okay. Lord worship in my iniquity, thank goodness me from my sins. Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.

May the Lord sacrifice our hands.

Receive, O Lord, the offerings of our devotion, and grant that we who celebrate your Son's work of bountless charity, may through the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary be confirmed in love of you and of our neighbor through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

The Lord be with you.

And be with your spirit.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just truly right and just our duty and our salvation to praise your mighty deeds and exaltation of all the saints, and especially as to celebrate the memory of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to proclaim your kindness as we echo her thankful hymn of praise.

For truly, even to earth's hands, you have done great things and extended your abundant mercy from age to age. When you looked on the loneliness of her handmaid, you gave us through her the author of salvation, your Son Jesus Christ, our Lord. Through him, the host of angels adores your majesty and rejoices with in your presence forever.

May our voices we pray join with theirs in one chorus of exalted praise as we acclaim.

Holy holy, holy Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy therefore these gifts we pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the do fall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, and giving thanks broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it.

For this is my body, which will be given up for you. And once more giving thanks, he gave it to the disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins.

Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith.

Save us, Savior of the world, for by your cross and resurrection you have set us free.

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer your Lord the bread of life and the child self-salvation, giving thanks that you've felt us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. How we pray that by taking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity. Together we lay our Pope, Francis, our bishop, and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy. Welcome them into the light of your face.

Have mercy on us all, we pray. That with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the blessed Joseph, our spouse, with the blessed apostles, and all the saints who please you throughout the ages, we may merit to be a co-heririst to eternal life. And we praise and glorify you through your Son Jesus Christ.

Through him and with him and in him. O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours for ever and ever.

unknown Amen.

At the Savior's command, and formed by divine teaching, we're there to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, how be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from every evil.

Deliver us, Lord, you pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all the stress. As we wait the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Now and forever.

Lord Jesus Christ, you say to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church. And grace, peace, and unity, and accordance with your will who live and reign forever and ever. Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you always.

And with your spirit.

With incented focus on the Blessed Mary, the Queen of Peace, to offer a sign of peace to those around you and maybe those in the silence of your heart.

Have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world. Have mercy on us. Lamb of God. You take away the sins of the world. Grant speed.

Behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter the meeting, but only say the word.

I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.

Grant your church, O Lord, that strengthened by the power of the sacrament, she may eagerly walk in the pathways of the gospel until she reaches the blessed vision of peace, which the Virgin Mary, your lowly handmaid, already enjoys eternal glory through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit.

Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Our Mass has been celebrated, go forth in the peace of Christ.

Thanks be to God.

Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this Mass.
