Hello, everybody. Welcome into the Fantasy Pros Football Podcast. I'm Ryan Warmly, joined by Jake Seeley from The Athletic and by Pat Fitzmorris. And we are talking week seven starts and sits. We're running through some popular waiver pickups and are you starting or sitting them this week? Some touchdown calls at the end of the show and everything in between. Fitz, how are you doing here today?

Doing great, Worm.

We are getting a glorious run of fall weather in Chicago. I've been enjoying that good dog walking weather and my brewers.

Are about to play in the World Series. So I'm pretty excited about that, too.

Yeah.

How could you be thinking about anything else basically at this point? If I was in your shoes, I certainly wouldn't be. Jake, how are you doing?

I'm doing good. I'm doing, I mean, I can't say it because I'm behind the paywall in the athletics, so I don't get to be part of the competition, but I've been number one since week two. I'm going to make a little humble brag on there. That's not even humble at all. That's just a straight brag.

Just a brag.

I was still part of it. I would still, I would actually be number one since week two.

The humble part is that you're saying only since week two, not since week one. So that's what's.

Making me a little bit more– A little bit of a run this year. The one year– it's been I think three years since I've been in the competition. Of course, like I finished number two. I finished number one in the pre-draft ranks twice and baseball twice. But I've never done number one in season, only number two. And of course, I'm going to do it when it doesn't count.

When it doesn't count. Yeah. Well, hey, that's why people should listen to this show. Or obviously go check out your work at The Athletic. But also listen to the show so they can hear some of your starts and sits, even if they're not seeing it on the site.

And Fitz influences me sometimes. These conversations that we have. I know he says, after Jake said, I might have to move my guy. It goes both ways. That's why I think this is a great show to be able to do. Yeah.

Yeah. We're happy to be doing it.

Yeah.

A reminder for everybody that all of our weekly consensus rankings and tiers, except for Jake's, can be found at fantasypros.com slash rankings. But there's plenty of other good ones there. And again, go check out his work at The Athletic as well. All right. Let's start with some starting or sitting popular waiver ads. Number one guy that I want to talk about here this week, this was I feel like a weaker group of names to work through because a lot of the names were Frankly, similar guys that we talked about a week ago. One name that we didn't talk about a week ago was Omar Cooper Jr., the rookie out of Indiana fits. Is he somebody that you are considering starting this week if you picked him up?

He's ranked right in that range where we often do find guys that we talk about in this segment. He's wide receiver 32 in the consensus rankings for the week.

Boy, he was a hard player to rank this week.

I've got him wide receiver 32, so I think that does put him squarely in the starting zone for this week. And it's been a small sample size, just a handful of plays in week one before he had that high ankle sprain. But he did, I think on his only route, have a 30-yard catch in week one. And then he comes back and immediately has over 100 yards and a touchdown and had a second touchdown wiped out on a terrible offensive pass interference call against Tim Patrick.

So....

I loved Cooper as a prospect coming out. He's an absolute gamer. At Indiana, he could line up in the slot. He could line up outside. He's really tough after the catch. He's great at the catch points. Had that spectacular game winner against Penn State last year. That was one of the best catches you will ever see. Yeah, and I know he didn't have a great training camp, and there were reports that he was not Maybe not going to beat out Isaiah Williams to be the number three receiver behind Garrett Wilson and A.D. Mitchell, but I think this guy's good, and I'm willing to sort of gamble on him even though the sample size is small.

When A.D.

Mitchell comes back, we'll have to reassess, but with Mitchell out, the number two receiver on the Jets, there's actually value to that now, and there didn't used to be.

Jake, Omar Cooper, wide receiver 32 against Miami. Is that too high, too low, or just right compared to your rankings?

I don't know if everybody saw, and if you're just listening, you didn't, but I chuckled when Fitz said 32 because that's exactly where I have him. It comes down to it. Also, if Fitz remembers, it's a long time ago, so probably not the comparison I made for him because I love to smash players together. It was Romeo Lockett is the comparison I make. So I'm with him. He was in my tier two of wide receivers in the draft. But the biggest thing, and I broke this down in the rankings column over the athletic, and I said this is like, I'm actually more concerned because it's the matchup and not like, oh, I'm definitely afraid of the Dolphins. Part of it is that the Dolphins have been a factor of how many

plays they don't run, I should say, and then some of the opponents they play. But the biggest thing is they're both bottom 12 in pass percentage, the Jets and the Dolphins, and they're both bottom 7 in plays per game. The Dolphins 54.6, the Jets are 59. So it's hard to get invested on either side. We've also seen the Jets, what was it, 27 plays that one week? Because both teams run the ball. Both teams grind out the clock.

So the volume of plays is why I would want to put Cooper higher given everything we've said and what Fitz just said. I'm in complete agreement. I was hoping and actually thinking I could get him as a fringe wide receiver too before looking deeper into it. It's just like the fact of we might only get 40-something plays on both sides of the ball and then it's just a volume game situation there. So I think there's a higher ceiling than being number 32. But I think that's a fair spot to have him given the situation, this matchup.

And obviously the first wide receiver is still going to be Garrett Wilson.

Who would you guys prefer between a guy like Cooper or Trey Tucker this week? They're very close in ECR. We're not talking about Tucker later on the show. So I wanted to ask, coming off of a stellar performance, last week with a couple of touchdowns, Jake, do you prefer Tucker or Cooper this week?

I hate Trey Tucker. I hate Trey Tucker only because we've been doing this the entire Trey Tucker career. It's like, one every five games. And then like he disappears and it's like, oh, this is why you should love Trey Tucker. And it's like, yeah. And then he's going to be on the side of the milk carton for a month and we're going to come back and be like, oh, this is Trey Tucker again. That all being said, like this is frustrating. I have him barely in front just because I feel like this could be the Rams pushing the ball a little bit more and the Riders have to play catch up and maybe we finally get back to back Trey Tucker weeks. I will say, all that being said, the lower floor is with Tucker in my opinion.

Fitz, what do you think about that one?

I have Tucker ranked a little higher and Jake is right. It's, it's always sort of unpredictable with Trey Tucker, but I will say the floor has been better for Trey Tucker this year than it has been historically.

Yeah.

So last five games for Trey Tucker, at least four catches in 42, 43 yards, 41 yards, uh, in each of those games.

So that's right. An eight point PPR floor.

I mean, you're not doing cartwheels if you get eight points, uh, in a PPR format from one of your starting receivers, but you're also like, you're not going to lose because of Trey Tucker. So I think just because the body of work is a little more complete with Trey Tucker, I would go with him over Cooper, but they're separated by two spots in my rankings.

The other name I want to talk about in this segment is Jalen Knoll coming off of a great performance. And, and really I like Fitz, we talk a lot with Debro about what the, we just think like Jalen Knoll is a pretty good player. Debro, especially like talks about that a lot. Um, in this current iteration of the Texans offense, is he somebody that you're willing to start this week?

Yeah.

Um, freak athlete, sub four, four speed. Uh, I think his vertical jump was like 41 and a half inches. Um, and right now Jalen Knoll is averaging a league high 15.9 yards per targets and also 2.69 yards per route run.

Super efficient.

The problem is that he hasn't had more than five targets in a game this season. And, uh, I mean, it's getting to be a crowded group of pass catchers for the Texans. Nico Collins obviously is going to get his share of targets. They've added Marvin Harrison Jr. Tank Dell is coming back. Xavier Hutchinson is still annoyingly around.

So you can't count on target volume, but man, Noel's been really good. So I've got him just barely ranked inside the top 40.

He's a little fringier this week.

But that's in a four-team bye week, so maybe you're forced to play Jalen Nolan.

I don't think it's the worst thing.

Yeah, Jake, he's been wide receiver 36, wide receiver 18, wide receiver 7 across the last three weeks. So again, just inside that top 40 range for Fitz, that's lower than he has been performing three weeks in a row just on really great efficiency. Where is he ranked for you?

Actually a little bit lower than Fitz. And it really just comes down to who he truly is. Uh, Noel's the same, which by the way, it's funny. We're going to get two pronunciations that a lot of people get wrong in this one. Fitz got it right. It's not Noel. I actually thought that for his first entire year, but also up until this year, apparently nobody was telling us it's Flannoy and not Flournoy, but you bring up Flannoy, Noel, Khalif Raymond, like these kinds of Yoshavis before he got hurt.

Like these are the names that like they're the third wide receiver. They're going to have big games predicting when they're going to happen. is going to be impossible. So I'm always okay starting them. Just because I have Noel behind Fitz and down in the lower 40s doesn't mean like, oh my God, you can't start Noel. If you needed a Hail Mary play, but these names, why I bring all of them up is because given what the offense can do, given what they can do any given week, you have the potential for a top 20 performance. You also have the potential to have two fantasy points. The floor is almost a zero with these kind of players.

So If you want to go for it, it's not so much a testament that I hate Knoll compared to Fitz. It's just that I'm always going to rank these kind of wide receivers as back-end wide receiver fours, and that's just because of who they are. So it's not anything more than that context is needed.

Jake, do you have Flanoy ranked ahead of Knoll this week?

I do.

I do. How many spots?

Almost 10.

Oh, okay. I do have Flanoy ranked one spot higher.

Okay.

Noel's two spots higher in consensus for what it's worth.

I also don't think that the Giants necessarily need to be passed on the entire game. And I think if you're looking at the last two games for the Texans, and it did hit for Noel last week, but it's been coming back around as the defense. starting to play a little better. The pass versus run has actually gone down quite a bit the past two weeks for the Texans or two games. So I look at that and that's part of it too, a volume situation. I know that the Cowboys are going to continue to pass. I know that the Texans might not need to. That's the difference there.

Yeah, it's concerning that the Texans have been kind of pass heavy and Noel still hasn't had more than five targets in any game.

Right?

Yeah.

Yeah. Let's go to the plant your flag segment. Speaking of the Texans, Jake, start us off here with who you're planting your flag on.

Yeah, Woody Marks. And it's just because I've been saying this for a couple of weeks now, I'm starting running backs against the Giants and I was already on Woody Marks before. The surprise of the IR for Jawar Jordan. Now they have to elevate Agubo Wale. And it's not that like the goon can't get involved. It's just that Woody Marks was already going to be RB2 reliant on volume.

And we were okay with that after last year. He's been a little bit more efficient this year. He looked better than David Montgomery. But the biggest thing coming down to it is the Giants run defense is trash. It's the trash. We wanted to start players against the Giants for the longest time in the run game for the past two seasons. And it looked like that might change at the beginning of the year. And I'm not saying Brian Burns is the only reason their defense isn't any good, because you can't just lose one player and go from good run defense to bad. If you watch the Giants, they don't know how to pursue. They take the worst angles when tracing down players, including Krosky Merritt in that game from a few weeks ago. So I just look

at the fact that the Giants run defense is, I want to start a running back, period, let alone one that's going to get 80% of the volume against them in a game where like the Texans should hopefully be. And if McCarthy goes as bad as McCarthy can go, cause he's just Jameis with a zippier ball. This could be a game where they're grinding out the clock. And if they're grinding out the clock, I mean, we might see a huge day from what he marks.

What do you think about this flag plant here, Fitz?

Yeah, I don't mind it. I agree.

I kind of had hopes that the Giants run defense was going to be better earlier this year.

And it's kind of starting to fall apart. A little bit.

And you know Marks is going to get a really high share of things. Fellow Marquette University High School graduate Dare Agumbawale is probably not going to get more than a carry or two. Might get a couple of targets, but yeah, I think it's going to be a lot of volume for Woody Marks against.

A pretty bad defense.

Where's he ranked for you, Fitz?

I have got Woody Marks. Sorry, I've got to switch over from wide receivers.

I think I've got him just.

Inside the top 20 at, yeah, 17.

That's exactly aligned with consensus.

That's where I put him, too. One spot behind Jacobs, and that's only because Jacobs is facing the Lions.

Yeah. Fitz, who are you planting your flag on this week?

I'm going with Tyler Higbee.

And I have him ranked tight end nine, and I almost worry that that's too low. Just seems like, and granted, there could be tight end production chopped up.

Three ways.

Maybe we see Colby Parkinson get a lot of targets. Maybe we see Davis Allen chip in. But no Terrence Ferguson yet. And there's no Devontae Adams for the Rams, who's going to be out for like two months with a hamstring injury. I think Higby is going to be really involved, and he has been really involved even with Adams playing. So I think this could be a smash setup for Tyler Higby.

Tight end 10 in consensus, Jake. Where are you at?

I'm at nine, too.

This is going to be a fun show if we just keep agreeing on everything.

As we say, every single player so far that's been mentioned, I think, has the same rating.

It's weird so far. It's like 100% lockstep. But yeah, it really comes down to it. It's funny that you said the Davis-Allen thing. I was like, all right, we're going to get a carry from Davis-Allen, too, and just annoy the crap out of us. But it just comes down to what we wanted is a tight end that we knew didn't have involvement from other options. And for now, Terrence Ferguson is still out. Not only that, Terrence Ferguson is not coming back next week when first eligible. They've already said that. So for everybody out there, the reason I bring that up, and I know this isn't a waiver show, is that I have a feeling like Fitz has him, we both have him at nine, that Higby is going to be in the tight end one conversation

for a few more weeks at least.

Yeah. Erickson and I on Tuesday had this very long conversation about how Terrence Ferguson was this great pickup if available on waivers or a trade target, get him thrown into a deal. And then shortly after that, they came out already saying that he's not going to be ready to come off the iron. Like to that point, if they're already announcing it this early, that doesn't feel, you know, particularly optimistic about his return. Yeah. I mean, he'd be like, again, with this opportunity with Ferguson out and obviously Devonta Adams out, like I feel like he simply must be inside the top 10. And then just some question of how high you get with it fits. Is there anybody that might surprise people that you would start him over this week?

Yeah. pitts yeah i mean a lot of people are going to chase the kyle pitts touchdowns um dallas goddard i'd much rather start higby than goddard okay goddard is higher in consensus how about even if oh go ahead i.

Was gonna say the one i have him one spot in front of it goes tonight so you have to make the decision so you're probably gonna i would start him over loveland.

What do you think about that i have loveland ranked one spot higher yeah But yeah, I would hate to have to make that call.

Loveland is three spots higher in consensus, actually. He's tied in seven this week in consensus. I mean, that's.

Coming from somebody that I hope I'm wrong about that because I had Loveland in tier one of tight ends this year. So I hope this is like the turning of the corner, but I'm just worried about the usage for the Bears for the entire season. But this week should be okay. But yeah.

We'll see. I need to tell everybody about a new prediction market called Polymarket. It's a stock exchange for sports buying in and selling out on your terms. When your team goes down to 20%, you can buy in and sell it off at 40% when they come back to double your money. They are so confident you'll never go back to the other guys. They're giving you a free $ 25 on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10.

And now they've launched a new feature, Squads, a group chat where you can see what everyone is trading on. So download the Polymarket app today and use FPPOD when you sign up. That's F-P-P-O-D to get $ 25 free after you deposit just $ 10. All right, guys. First starts at player debate here at the running backs. How about Jalen Warren or Chuba Hubbard this week? Looking a little bit higher in the rankings than we usually do. Jake, I'll start with you on this one. Hubbard or Warren?

Well, I know one is going to get 80% of the work, and that's why I'm going to go with Chuba Hubbard. Rico Dowdle's first game back, I think, was getting eased back in, and I still expect Warren to be the lead. And get the volume of the touches over Dowdle. But if something were to happen in that game and all of a sudden it ended up being a 50-50 split like we saw before the injury, it wouldn't shock me. But at least I know Harvard's going to get– I mean 80% actually might be low. And I still believe and really have this– like so let's start the season off because I know some people are like, well, you wanted to wait and see. Because I just got this question in the chat at The Athletic. It's like

you wanted to wait and see on the Panthers. I was like, no, I wanted to wait and see if I trusted Bryce Young. And two weeks ago, before their bye, in that matchup, I was like, you know what? It's time. He actually is here. This is working. The Dave Canales offense is working. And as long as it's working, and I think it will for the rest of the year, I'm not afraid of matchups either way when I'm going to get that volume and offense that I also believe in.

So I'm going Hubbard over Warren, and it's a decent gap.

They are back-to-back in consensus. Excuse me, not tight. Running back 10 and running back 11. So again, they're both ranked highly.

I'm 7 and. Where is Warren?

7-13.

Okay, so yeah.

Definitely, obviously, a more sizable guy out there and having it flipped in terms of who's ahead. Fitz, what about you? Again, 10-11, respectively, in consensus.

We are going to have some disagreement on this show. That's great.

I realize that Chuba basically has the Panthers' backfield to himself. He played 74 offensive snaps last week against the Eagles. Trevor Etienne played three And Anthony Tyus III, a.k.a. Trey Tyus, played two snaps. So 74 out of basically 79 running back snaps. Rico Dowdle back from the toe injury last week for the Steelers. Warren still played 74.7% of the offensive snaps for Pittsburgh, but Dowdle 10 touches and actually had more receptions for Warren. Rico had three. Warren had two.

Really annoying after Mike McCarthy sort of promised us that Jalen Warren had two seized command of the lead back job but normally i get where jake is going on this because for me normally um workload trumps matchups like i i care more about workload than matchups but in this case i think the gap in matchups is maybe a lot bigger than the the gap in workloads um The Steelers facing the Saints in France. The Saints have given up a league-high 701 rushing yards and a league-high 11 rushing touchdowns to running backs. The run defense ranks last in both DVOA and EPA per play. And Hubbard has gone up against the Buccaneers' run defense, 7th in DVOA, 3rd in EPA per play. Buccaneers are always tough against

the run with Todd Bowles. They're giving up the second-fewest rushing yards per game, only the Jaguars allowing fewer. And opposing running backs averaging just 3.5 yards per carry. against the Buccaneers. So it's just such a tough matchup for Chuba Hubbard, whereas I feel like you're sailing downwind a little with Jalen Warren's matchup.

Jake, what do you think about the matchups in this ranking?

I completely understand the matchup. I understand it 100%, but when it comes down to the volume situation, I try Hubbard versus what Fitz was saying there also. Part of my argument was that, what if it's 50-50? I'm not saying it should be. This is also something we started to begin the season with. I go to the fact that Hubbard's worst game is RB12 this year, 7-7, 8-9, and 12. I'm going to roll with him on that alone.

And if it's 50-50, Mike McCarthy stinks because Jalen Warren is so much better than Rico Dowdle.

We all know that. We also said that before McCarthy got there, though. We were saying that about Jalen Warren versus Najee Harris. And whatever it is with the Steelers, what's in their water or whatever, they just– They just keep doing this. They've been doing this in their entire Jalen Warren career.

And remember when Mike McCarthy was in Green Bay, the whole free Aaron Jones thing when it was Jamal Williams and Aaron Jones splitting carries. And everyone knew that Aaron Jones was the better player, but it didn't really matter to Mike McCarthy. So maybe your fears about a 50-50 split are well-founded.

Next running back debate here, and this is one where when I put together the sheet just yesterday, these guys were back-to-back in ECR. There now is a bit more of a gap here in the consensus ranking. It's Josh Jacobs coming back for the Packers or Damian Pierce. Again, they were back-to-back as of just yesterday, but they're now about five spots apart in ECR. Fitz, what do you think about this one, Jacobs or Pierce?

I have to go with Jacobs.

Probably not getting 20 carries in his first game back, but he's probably getting at least 12 carries. And while the Packers' running game has been bad, their running game ranks 32nd in DVOA, their offensive line is 32nd in adjusted line yards, Jacobs should help things, and the Detroit run defense has not been nearly as impregnable as it has been in recent years. It's actually been kind of bad.

But this is mostly about me not wanting any piece of the Eagles' offense except for maybe Devontae Smith. Pierce, yes, he did have the Eagles backfield pretty much to himself last week with Saquon Barkley out. Did score a touchdown, but he needed 16 touches, 12 carries, 4 catches to grind out 50 scrimmage yards. And it felt like a huge win if you had Damian Pierce last week to get 50 yards and a touchdown in that offense. I just, I don't want anyone from Philadelphia except maybe Devontae.

Jake? Yeah, I have a decent gap, and that's even before the potential Saquon Barkley returns. So obviously that would change everything that Barkley's practicing. Well, I wouldn't put that out there for everybody. But let's say Barkley's still out. I still have Damian Pierce at 23. I know the matchup's there against the Cowboys, but I would start Marks, and I'd even go Dobbins. Well, Dobbins if no Jonah Coleman.

There's another one in there. But just these situations where Pierce is, as much as I like Woody Marks, he's also getting to face the Giants as somebody who's actually looked decent, not great.

He's looked decent.

Damian Pierce just still looks like Damian Pierce. So chasing that volume versus Josh Jacobs, if you told me what Fitz kind of said, if there was a six touch difference, I'd still take Josh Jacobs. He's also got an amazing matchup against the Lions. So they've already said that Josh Jacobs has stayed in shape. He was allowed to be around the team at certain points. So it's not like he's going to come in and look like the fat, uh, Josh Jacobs or not. No, it wasn't Josh Jacobs. Who was the one for Eddie Lacey? It's not like he's coming in like Eddie Lacey for the Packers. Um, so even 12 to 14 touches against the lions, I would play Jacobs. I have a 16. So to give you an idea.

So by the way, I was just going to say, I'll, I'll bet Saquon Barkley does not come back this week. Really? Why would they, why would they risk nuking his trade value? By bringing him back early when he's playing hurt or looking terrible behind this awful offensive line.

A limited practice on Wednesday, though? Like, normally I don't pay attention to Wednesday practices unless it's limited returning from injury. That was the surprising thing.

Yeah, if it was a full practice, I mean, I guess then you have to concede that he probably comes back.

But I don't know, man.

Like, if I were Howie Roseman, I would be saying, no, we're not activating him this week.

Let's get Fitz versus Mike Garofalo. Let's get them head to head.

Let me throw out a couple of different names then instead of Pierce because that one was too easy. What about Ollie Gordon or Ramondre Stevenson tonight, Fitz? Are either of those closer with Jacobs or are you still starting Jacobs over all of them?

No, I've got Jacobs RB20.

I have Ollie Gordon RB19 and Ramondre Stevenson RB18.

Okay, so both of them you would go with over Jacobs.

I go the opposite direction.

Okay, you have Jacobs ahead of both of them.

I go Jacobs, Stevenson, Gordon.

Okay. That's more aligned with consensus. It goes Jacobs, 16 in consensus, Stevenson, 18, Gordon, 19.

I would even, for everybody out there asking, just to throw another name that I know you didn't ask him, but he's in that same range as the Aaron Jones. I would start Jacobs over Aaron Jones with Jordan Mason's first game back. Although, that being said, Aaron Jones is only back here and not further down because I think that Jordan Mason could fall into what we just saw with Rico Dowdle last week. Is that First game back, it's not that 50-50 split that we knew.

Fitz, what do you think about that one, Jones or Jacobs?

Jones for me, and I kind of do think that Jones is still going to be sort of the lead back or at least like the 55-45 guy in Mason's first week back. Could be wrong about that since it was a thumb injury and not like anything leg, ankle, knee related.

But I suspect... that.

Aaron Jones is still going to operate as the number one or at least the 1A this week for Minnesota.

Let's go to two guys who are back-to-back in consensus as of today. Carnell Tate and Michael Wilson, our first wide receiver debate here. They are wide receiver 24 and wide receiver 25, respectively, Fitz. Who do you prefer?

Oh, man.

I have Wilson ranked one spot higher than Tate, and it does not feel good. I don't think there's much doubt that Carnell Tate is the better player. Uh, it's been just mostly empty volume for Wilson this season. He's averaging just under 10 targets a game and has a 23.7% target share, but 9.7 yards per catch, 5.5 yards per target, 1.43 yards per route run. Those are all really disgusting numbers. Um, and Tate didn't do much his first couple of games, but he's hit 19 PPR points or higher in two of his last three games. Both guys kind of tricky matchups.

Wilson gets the Broncos. Um, I don't know if Patrick Sertan is going to be back. He had a limited practice Wednesday, although I know James Palmer of NFL Network tweeted that he thinks Sertan comes back in week eight, not week seven. But still, with or without Sertan, the Broncos are a pretty tough matchup for passing attacks. And Tate is probably going to see a lot of Denzel Ward, the Browns' best cornerback. I guess I just feel a little more confident about the passing volume for the Cardinals.

They're averaging 39.2 pass attempts per game. 29.5 for the Titans. So you get about 10 more pass attempts per game for the Cardinals. That's why I'm taking Wilson.

You mentioned nearly 10 targets a game for Wilson. That's pretty boosted by his 17-target game in Week 3 against the Niners. You take that out, it's even lower. Four of the other five games, he's had exactly seven targets in there. So that volume is, again, really boosted by That one performance. Yeah, Jake, what do you think about this one? Again, they're back-to-back in consensus, so it seems like the industry sees this as a toss-up.

Yeah, I'm with Fitz in their back-to-back, and I do have Wilson one spot in front. I'm behind consensus on both, though, because of the matchups, but also this. I'm not full on panic mode yet. but watching that game, it was like, hey, Michael Wilson, guess what? You get to fill in the sacrificial lamb role that Marvin Harrison was doing, kind of what the Jaguars continue to do with Brian Thomas. They're like, hey, you just run downfield and we don't care about you because you're just going to draw coverage. Because the bigger thing too is, and I brought this up in the column, so the separation score, win rate, and targets per route run, the two games without Marvin Harrison and Michael Wilson, all

down across the board, all of them. And on top of that, his ADOT has jumped from 9.3 to 13.7. Because he's falling into that Brian Thomas concern from the Jaguars from last year as soon as Parker Washington became a thing. Again, not full panic, but enough to say my point was that Michael Wilson won't be a wide receiver one this season because of that, if they're going to do that to him. It's enough that he's behind consensus for me as a fringy wide receiver two because of the matchup on top of it. Even without Sertan, it's still the Broncos. So all that being said, I'm kind of concerned about both of them because of the matchup, and I'm doubly concerned about Wilson. And all that still being said, Fitz brought up the volume. I'll still go

with the Cardinals pass offense versus the Titans pass offense. But I'm worried about both this week, honestly.

Rest of season, do you have a preference, Jake? I'm Wilson. It's Wilson. Okay. Because, I mean, obviously, like, he hasn't– he's had two bad games in a row, right? Seven targets, four catches, roughly 30 yards in each of the last two games. And not that Martin Harrison Jr. leaving, like, really makes that much of a difference when he's getting three targets a game. But it's almost like he stepped into that role.

Well, they bounce back and forth. Sorry to jump in. The reason why is because the Cardinals schedule, you can almost feel when you feel good about it because look at their schedule. They got Broncos this week, but then they get the Cowboys. It might be a little bit more concerning now with Porter, but then at Seattle, Rams, Chiefs, oh God, Washington, Philly, bye, and then Jets, Saints, Raiders.

So if you can survive long enough, it gets pretty friendly down the stretch outside of the Quinnian Mitchell situation. But It's enough to– again, I think the biggest thing I want to take away from this is not like, oh my God, Michael Wilson, 1,000% over Tate. I think that the fact that they're in this conversation as much as I like Michael Wilson by a gap over Tate initially, now that it's this close, is something worth considering, especially if you're thinking about trades coming up.

Fitz, rest of the season for you?

I prefer Tate because I'm worried that the Cardinals are going to give at least five starts to Carson Beck, and those probably aren't going to be pretty.

Yeah. But what if that lower A dot and he has to throw to him like 17 times a game like we got that one week?

Could be.

I just– I don't think they're going to let Carson back a rookie come in and let it rip 38 times a game like they let Jacoby Brissett do.

Hey, what better way to get your evaluation, right?

Another receiver debate here. Xavier Worthy or Denzel Boston? Boston limited in practice on Wednesday. He did play through that foot on Sunday this week. So, assuming he's going to play. But he's wide receiver 28. Xavier Worthy, wide receiver 31. Jake, who do you prefer? Boston.

I have a few spots. It's not a huge gap, but a few spots. Xavier Worthy is going against the Seahawks. I think that they have similar ceilings as we've seen. Potentially– Arguably, more volume should go Worthy's way than Boston's way. But again, going to Seattle against the defense, I'd rather just chase Boston.

Both of them have big play-up sides. It's not like Tennessee's a gift matchup. I'd just rather go to Tennessee than go to Seattle.

Worthy coming off a game with seven catches on seven targets for 73 yards. He was Water Super 24 this week. Second best finish of the season. Fitz, who do you prefer here?

I prefer the player who's actually good, so Denzel Boston. And there's like a seven-spot gap for me.

Oh, okay, a wide gap here.

And I know recency bias, Boston had one catch for 15 yards last week, and it was his least productive game of the season by far. He had put up at least 12.9 PPR points in four of his other five games. And, you know, Boston has just been really efficient, 10.8 yards per target.

The kid's just a baller. I think he's going to be a star.

I have been clinging to hope for Xavier Worthy, and I think I was above consensus on him in my draft rankings this year. But man, 1.44 yards per route run, 7.1 yards per target. When you watch him play, Xavier Worthy is just not very good at the act of catching the football, which seems kind of problematic for a wide receiver. So many times the ball just kind of rattles off his hands on first contact, and then he kind of corrals it. I know Worthy had a good game against the Chargers last week and his target share was like approaching 30%. It's probably going to be high again because Rasheed Rice probably isn't playing and the Chiefs have other injuries, a wide receiver. But yeah, I couldn't play Xavier Worthy over Denzel Boston if the matchups were even.

But then you factor in Worthy against Seattle.

No, thank you.

So I know you said the gap. Where are they actually ranked?

Boston 27, Worthy 34.

Okay, so roughly in line with consensus on Boston and then just lower on Worthy. What about Worthy or Omar Cooper? They're back-to-back in consensus.

Worthy, barely. I've got Cooper a little higher.

You said Cooper higher fits and Worthy.

Higher, Jake? Yeah, two spots for Cooper.

Okay, but close there.

Okay.

Another running back one for you guys. How about Kendria Miller versus Tyler Algier? Jake, I'll start with you on this one. Miller or Algier? Neither.

I really don't want to start either. It comes down to Alvin Kamara. If he was out, I know he's already limited practice, so it sounds like he should be involved. If he was out, it would be Kendrick Miller easily, even against the Steelers. But as of right now, I still have, even with Kamara in my rankings, I still have Miller in front of Algier just because also facing the Broncos. And if anybody watched that game, it was objectively, subjectively, no matter what way you want to cut it, Bam Knight looked better than Algier. I'm still concerned that Algier is going to get the goal line opportunities. But again, he's facing the Broncos. So how many of these are we really going to see in this game? At least

Bam had some explosiveness. And I'm not saying go chase Bam Knight. It's like, oh my God, you have to smash him into your lineup. But I would go Knight over Algier, which means I'm going Kendrick Miller over Algier.

Both of these guys are inside the top 30 at the position this week in consensus. So yeah, you saying like, oh, neither is like, well, the rankings are like, man, who else are you going to put here?

I would go Charbonnet returning over both of them. That's like, I don't want to start them.

Uh Fitz what do you think not only against each other but also the range that they're ranked.

Yeah I've got Algier 25 um Kendra Miller 26 it's just I feel the same way about Jake basically the only reason I have Algier one spot hires I feel like the matchup is a little easier for Algier Broncos are 16th in DVOA against the run they've kind of had tackling issues um And the Steelers, their run defense, eighth in DVOA. I just feel like it's a little bit trickier a matchup for Kendra Miller.

How about another wide receiver one? Wandale Robinson or Jalen Knoll, who we mentioned earlier in the show, Fitz?

I flipped on this one.

I initially had Wandale ranked slightly higher, but Wandale's ceiling is like basement rec room low. 4.2 catches per game. There's only been one game where he hasn't had at least three catches. So there is a floor with Wandale. but he's averaging 5.5 yards per target and 1.29 yards per route run. Whereas Noel, as mentioned before, a league-high 15.9 yards per target, 2.69 yards per route run. So this is sort of empty volume versus boom or bust splash play potential, and I will take the splash play potential.

Jake? Yeah, there's been one game, one, where Wendell Robinson has finished higher than wide receiver 36, so... And actually, I think that was the only other game he was even inside the top 40, if I'm not mistaken. But either way, Wendell also started losing snaps last week. So, no, don't start Wendell Robinson. Drop Wendell Robinson. I had him on my drop column. I'll tell you your answer there.

Yeah, that does make that one pretty easy. He is ahead of Jalen Knoll in consensus for what it's worth. I have Wendell Robinson at 51. Okay, yeah. So, you're way low on Robinson compared to consensus. He's inside the top 40 in ECR. All right, let's go to a flex one. Jake, I'll start with you. You mentioned J.K.

Dobbins earlier. How about Dobbins or Jamison Williams this week?

This comes down to the Jonah Coleman situation needs to be watched because I know he's activated in playing. That doesn't necessarily mean he's going to play this week. If he does, I would actually lean towards Jamison Williams and hope that there's the excitement that we expect to be in that game. But as of right now, I go J.K.

Dobbins just because the usage that Sean Payton's been giving him. And a matchup with the Cardinals where I think that you could also potentially just get volume in the second half with the lead. Of course, that could go sideways. But again, I'm talking about 15, 16 plus touches for Dobbins. That would change with Coleman. I don't think Coleman immediately steps in and becomes the lead option. It's just, it's not like Dobbins has been amazing. Dobbins has kind of been volume reliant. What's the difference between Dobbins and Woody Marks, honestly, so far? So that's where it comes down to. I don't want to sound like I'm trying to straddle the fence here. It just comes down to if Coleman's active,

I'll go Jamison Williams. As of right now, I'm going J.K. Dobbins. Fitz?

I have to vehemently agree with Mr. Seeley on this one. I feel like Jamo's the easy choice. You've got Packers, Lions, and Ford Field, the Coors Field of the NFL, in a game with a Vegas total of 53.5. And, yeah, I know Jamison Williams has been disappointing so far. He is wide receiver 32 in fantasy points per game, but he's wide receiver 12. unexpected PPR points per game, according to Fantasy Points data. So this is a dude who's gone over 1,100 yards each of the last two years, over 1,000 yards. The good stuff is coming for Jamo.

And we already started to get it the last time we saw him. He had two touchdowns, first two touchdowns of the season against the Cardinals in week five, and then the Lions went on by. So I just, I don't know what we're hanging our hats on with Dobbins. Like rushing volume, great. He's averaging 3.3 yards per carry for a team that can't score. He's had two touchdowns.

He doesn't do anything as a pass catcher. He does have eight catches this season for 27 yards. Do I want the guy in the Broncos offense, which makes my eyeballs bleed every time I watch it, or do I want the guy in the Lions offense playing in a stadium where every game is a freaking pyrotechnics display? So JMO by a mile for me on this one.

By a mile. Dobbins is ranked higher in consensus flex rankings this week. by about seven spots. So a vehement agreement from you guys there. How about Cam Scadaboo coming off a no-touch game versus Jordan Addison, Fitz?

This is hard, man.

We don't know whether Cam Scadaboo has gone in front of the parole board trying to get out of fumble jail. No idea what his workload is going to be. Maybe he goes right back to being the lead guy. Najee Harris released this week. Maybe that bodes well for Scadaboo, but Giants haven't really been running the ball effectively regardless.

They are last in rushing success rate. And we know Skadaboo is going right back to the bench if he fumbles again. And when you get a reputation of being a fumbler, you are going to have defenders peanut punching you on every single carry.

So I'm going to go with Addison.

Isn't having a great season, but last two games, 142 yards and a touchdown.

I just do not want to Jake?

Vehemently disagree. No, not vehemently. I just wanted to say vehemently just because Fitz did. Actually, I am going back to Scataboo. I think the Najee Harris thing was telling, not so much because he complained and got released, but just that they let him go. And we've done this. And to be clear, Fitz isn't wrong about the whole fumble situation, but we've done this with Tyrone Tracy. I think we're just waiting for when Tracy does it himself at this point. And then he disappears into the void.

everybody else has and Singletary gets touches. But the biggest thing I come down to is, and this is just maybe me confirmation biasing my priors on this, but it just comes down to that when it comes down to the Vikings and Kyler Murray, Kyler Murray's wide receiver tight end. And it's been proven that even with the missed time from Hawkinson, he is second on the team with a 21% team target percentage. Like he's ahead of Addison. Addison's the third option. And maybe he hits on two, three receptions for a touchdown and the higher ceiling, I But I just think this was message being sent, message received, and we're going back to Skadaboo. Now, I don't think this means 70% of the workload for Skadaboo. I don't believe

that he's been amazing. Completely agree with Fitz on that part. He's been actually disappointing as a runner. But it just comes down to the fact, like, I just feel like with everybody healthy for the Vikings, Addison's the one that continues to get left out.

I do kind of... feel like scataboo it will be back to business as usual it was sort of a one game benching pseudo benching that um that the message will have been hopefully received i mean in the eyes of the harbaugh that that's just kind of my guess but um i guess we don't know for sure.

How many messages does this dude need by the way don't do backflips of her busted ankle don't do like like dude like maybe he needs like a brain like the fish oil like his brain.

Needs to work better It's a player that needs messages and a coach that loves sending messages. So that's not surprising. Maybe it went this way. Another flex. How about Jordan Mason in his return or Josh Downs, Jake?

Mason. Just because the best receiver for the Colts is Keenan Allen. It just comes down to that. On top of the fact, I don't remember if Fitz and I were the one that talked about it or it was another show or whatever it might be. It's freaking Daniel Jones against the Vikings and Brian Flores, whose defense is still like, we talk about this on often and I don't remember again if it was on this or another one, but I looked into it and Emery Hunt was the one that gave me the answer. Kudos to him. But why Brian Flores' defense works so well for the first half of the season and starts to tail off is because it has to do with the conversations between the offensive linemen of assignments and the gelling of offensive lines

and being able to pick up the blitzes. But Flores' defense is on another level even past that where that fall off might not happen. And if you remember what happened to Daniel Jones the last time he faced Flores, on top of the fact that it is Flores versus the Colts. Like, I'm just, I don't want any Colts this week outside of Jonathan Taylor. And even coming off the injury on the other side of the ball, which you run against the Colts very easily most of the time.

I'm just going to take Jordan Mason in this one.

Fitz?

Yeah, thank you, Jake, for saying that Keenan Allen is the Colts' best receiver because I said that on the ranking show and Erickson strongly disagreed with me, but I kind of feel like Keenan Allen is better than Josh Downs. Downs has just been really frustrating, hasn't scored a touchdown, has had fewer than 50 yards in three straight games, and he's going up against a Vikings defense that has given up the third fewest points to slot receivers, which I thought was kind of weird. I thought as much as the Vikings blitzed, slot receivers are often the hot route guys. Figured maybe slot receivers against the Vikings, decent matchup, not so at all. So I'm going to go with Mason. Yeah, we don't know what the Vikings are going to do

as far as dividing the workload, but the Dolphins are giving up the second most fantasy points to running back. So even if it's a 40%, 35% share, I think Jordan Mason is still going to outplay Josh Downs.

One more flex. Emmanuel Wilson or Devon Vele? Fitz, I'll stick it with you here.

Yeah, so I'm going to go with Vele. Zach Charbonnet came off IR this week. Not clear what the workload split is going to be like against the Chiefs, but it's a pretty tough matchup for.

The Seahawks.

Let's see, the Chiefs giving up 63.8 rushing yards per game, 3.2 yards per carry to running back. So Yeah, and if Wilson doesn't get a clear majority of those rushing attempts against a tough Chiefs run D.

Man, the outlook is pretty bad. So I'll go with Vele.

Jake?

I will too, mostly because the overlap for Charbonnet returning is more concerning for Wilson than it is for Helani. And that's really what it comes down to as well, is that if it's a full-blown committee, I mean, that we might get a third, a third, a third, just because Charbonnet and Wilson are overlapping each other and then Helani still gets his. So, So Valet hasn't been as exciting as it was to start the season. It's not a great matchup, but to Fitz's point, the Steelers' pass defense matchup is a better one than the Chiefs' run defense matchup. So that leans me towards Valet, too.

I'm going to loop quarterback and tight end together because it is the Browns' quarterback. Did you do that on purpose? Yeah, I did. And they're back-to-back at both positions in ECR, but it's Browns versus Falcons. So at quarterback, it's Deshaun Watson and Michael Penix Jr. At tight end, it's Kyle Pitts and Harold Fannin Jr., Again, both a Browns versus Falcons matchup here. I want to have fun with it a little. Although, how much fun can you really have with these guys? But yeah, so quarterback and tight end, Browns or Falcons. Jake, who do you prefer for these two?

I'm going with the Falcons, plural. Not that I– Fitz and I talked on my podcast, by the way, if you want to listen to more Fitz. I had him on this week. And I do agree with him. I do like Fannin for the rest of the season, and I'm trying not to chase production with Pitts. And honestly, like I see an argument to take the opposites, Pennix and Fannick, but I will go for this week, Pennix and Pitts. Just chase your tight end and then stick with him for the rest of the year. Don't make the mistake of like chasing last week, chasing last week, chasing last week, because then you always get the misses.

All that being said, it comes down to Deshaun Watson. Deshaun Watson at the beginning of the season was like, oh my God, he's just Deshaun Watson. Then he turned the corner like, okay, maybe there's something left. And then what happened the past two weeks? It is, we're approaching Halloween. The dude's back to being a pumpkin. And by the way, good color for that team for that. Deshaun Watson looks like trash the past two weeks and makes something very clear about Penix. It's not like he's out there throwing 40 times a game, but he's behind Brock Purdy, but he's behind Brock Purdy and he's close in the efficiency area.

That's where it comes down to. And that's why I wanted to, before I preface and said, like, he's kind of similar to Purdy. I don't want people to lose their minds because Purdy is obviously one of the top quarterbacks in the league, but the efficiency has been there even with a lower reception rate because he's not completing a ton of passes. But when he does, The yards and the touchdowns and the efficiency has been there. So I'm going Pennix over Watson, and then I'm going to tie the tight end to the better quarterback situation. Even going against the 49ers, and that's why I bring up Purdy too, but I will just take Pennix and Pitts over the grossness of what Watson has been doing to that offense over the last two weeks. It's been awful

the past two weeks. I don't know how you feel good about starting anybody, and I agreed we should start Boston, but that's just hoping because he can catch two passes for 80 yards.

Fitz at quarterback, the Brown is higher. It's Deshaun Watson at tight end. The Falcon is higher. It's Kyle Pitts. But again, back to back rankings. Wait, where is Watson in consensus? Watson is QB 17 in consensus. Michael Penix Jr. is QB 18. At this point? And then they're 12 and 13 at tight end.

You don't have them in here at this point? And this has nothing. People know I love to crap all over the Giants. I'd start McCarthy over Watson at this point. Ooh.

Okay. But yeah, there's about an eight spot gap in consensus there. McCarthy's QB 25 this week.

Watson's also going against the Titans. It's not like their defense is trash. Salah's defense is turning around.

I think this is clear.

I see Fitz grinning, so I have a feeling he's going completely the opposite direction. But I think you can tell that I am completely off the Watson-Brown strain.

Yeah, I think that's fair. He did not look good the last couple of weeks.

He's awful.

Fitz, what do you think?

Can't disagree that he's looked bad the last couple of weeks. But?

Jake is team Dirty Birds. I am team Dog Pound here. So I'm going with the Browns in both instances. I cannot defend how bad or I can't defend Deshaun Watson's play over the last two weeks. But the Titans, their defense is ascending, but their pass defense still not great. 27th in EPA per pass, 29th in DVOA. Watson adds rushing value. He is averaging 32.7 rushing yards per game and has run for at least 22 yards in all six of his games. So with the rushing yards being double the value of a passing yard in most leagues, that's like a 65-yard head start he has on Michael Penix for this week because Penix adds zero rushing value.

And Falcons are the fourth heaviest team in the run, heaviest team in the league. So Pennix is only averaging 27.5 pass attempts per game. And the 49ers are a tough matchup. Their pass defense is sixth in DVOA. So I'm going Watson, easier matchup, rushing value. And at tight end, I'm just not going to chase the points with Kyle Pitts. Like, yeah, he's had the three touchdowns in his last two games.

but the 49ers absolutely smother tight ends. It's the Fred Warner effect. Warner's often the guy covering tight ends, and he is great at it. He is the best off-ball linebacker in the league, maybe the best defensive player in the NFL. And the 49ers have given up the third fewest fantasy points to tight ends, have not given up a touchdown. to a tight end this year. I know Fannin has been kind of dead in the water the last couple of weeks, two catches for 13 yards, his last two games. I just, I still think Fannin's a better player than Pitts and I would still start Fannin over Pitts.

So I'm glad I did this thing. Cause we got the Falcon sweep on one side and the Browns, uh, Brown sweep on the other side. So that's, uh, that's kind of fun. Um, let's wrap up with the touchdown calls contest here. Uh, Jake, you were on running back this week.

Yeah, I could have gone easy. I could have taken the Gibbs or even Henry or anything like that, although maybe Henry not as much with Tyler Huntley, a quarterback. But I'm going back to my flag plant. Woody Marks is going to get into the end zone against the Giants. I'm really frustrated about last week because I was going to go two for two on tight ends like Fitz did, and then it got called back on freaking Kincaid. And then you get anything for the rest of the game touchdown-wise.

But I'm going to call that Woody Marks not only has a good game, but it gets into the end zone against the Giants.

Fitz, wide receiver?

Yeah, so like Jake, I want to make the degree of difficulty a little higher, like I did last week at running back with Blake Corum.

And I'm just going to pat myself on the back here for.

Hitting on that one. So this week I'll go with DK Metcalf. And by the way, it was such a, you know what was so depressing about Kincaid having that touchdown call back last week? He was playing in his hometown for the first time ever in his career, I believe, in Las Vegas.

He's a Vegas kid. And it was his birthday.

And he gets that touchdown called back.

I know.

I was like, yeah, like two for two. Oh, like that's so disappointing. And you see, I think Worm timed this out because he gets tight ends on tight end week. So like he probably has like 15 guys to choose from.

I planned this back in week one. I was playing it out.

Where will it be?

Uh, I am going with, uh, for Titan week, I'm going with Tucker craft. Uh, I just figured like, you know, expecting really high scoring game, lots of scoring opportunities, course, go to the NFL. As Fitz mentioned earlier, only has one touchdown this season. I expect that to change sort of throughout the rest of the year. And this seems like as good a matchup as any to do it. Uh, and again, Titans are tough. So, uh, that was the direction I went here. So we've got Woody marks, DK Metcalf, Tucker craft as our touchdown calls fit. How you feeling about those three?

They feel pretty good.

This week, yeah.

Well, you get the layup in tight end week. Everyone scores.

I mean, you can throw– at least you didn't go chalk with Tommy Tremble who scores a touchdown every week now.

I actually got somebody asking me to start sitting. I'm like, really? That actually annoyed me too because there's the Darren Waller. Like I had him as like a good play and then freaking Tommy Tremble doubles down. I actually was assuming you were going to go Laporte or Kraft in that game.

Yeah. I don't know if this is a hot take or not. I find the tight end day stuff to be a little annoying just because like every broadcast all Sunday just mentions it over and over and over again. And I was like, it's like kind of fun to start, but then I feel like it kind of wears on me every year when we get that on Sunday. Do you guys feel differently?

It is weird that tight end day has been like a good touchdown day for tight ends.

It seems like it's not a coincidence.

Yeah.

We need to like, Google Gemini that or something, because I know that Google has the thing that there's actually what was it like a 15% increase in OPS and bobblehead day for baseball? Yeah, something like that.

More than that.

So like, I wonder how much this is just the reality or kind of like the Madden curse where people felt like that was a thing like it's just more of like, you only remember when it happens. I'm kind of curious.

I know, I feel like a tinfoil hat guy saying that.

But it does seem like every time it's tight end day, tight ends score a bunch of points.

Goddard, Kraft, likely Kittle's going to score.

Who else? Let's throw in a random one.

Give us one more worm. Darn old Washington.

If you think you can nail this week's touchdowns, join our free touchdown calls contest on PickSheet. Pick a running back, receiver, tight end, and a bonus flex. With the flex being worth double, you should definitely make that flex a tight end this week, it sounds like. Weekly winners get a $ 25 Fantasy Pros gift card, and the season champ wins a signed Reggie Wayne jersey. Play at picksheet.com slash fantasypros.

We'll wrap things up there. Best of luck setting those lineups this week, everybody. For Fitz and Jake, I'm Ryan Wormley. We'll see you again next time.
