Shownotes

Our favourite part of the internet is, of course, the comment section. Our job is literally reacting to and dissecting our FYPs: but we wanted to go a little further this week.
We're feeling nosey. We're feeling like allll those little commenters hiding behind their Tik Tok profile pictures might have their own drama going on.
So naturally we took to the streets with a sharpie and a fold out table.
Did we want an excuse to get gossip from strangers? Yes. You're welcome, we know you want it too.
Our takeaways include:
• It should be more socially acceptable to ask strangers for their secrets with no context
• Guinea pigs should never, under any circumstances, be left unsupervised
• The book of answers is ALWAYS right
Should we do this again?? DM us your crazy stories and we'll call you on next week's episode 👀
Love you superstars, see you in the comments xxxx

Hey, Sip Stars, this episode is best watched on Spotify or YouTube, and if you're already doing that, then there's a kiss from me.

Oh!

What?

I thought that was not what I thought. Okay. What's up superstars?

Welcome to In The Commons where we're doing an in the field.

In the wild. In Bondi Beach. Where they film Bondi Rescue.

I can see the lifeguard tower right now. There's some beautiful looking people around. Including ourselves.

Including ourselves.

It's perfect weather.

And we're going to see how many crazy stories people have out here. And as you can see, for every crazy story we're told, they can get a fortune. Because we wanted to give them money, but there's some legal.

Issues with that.

Can't really do that. But we have the book of answers.

And then we've also printed out some fortunes in this tiny little bag of ours.

So they can pick it out.

Should I pick out a fortune? Yeah, let's start off.

Will we meet the love of our lives on this little excursion?

Okay.

The person who laughed the hardest at your story is attracted to you.

There's a few people looking.

They all look like they should be in school, which is interesting for our education system, but that's fine.

We're feeling good. I'm feeling great. I'm feeling... You know, it's beautiful weather.

I know.

The sun is shining.

All right. All right.

Let's get into it.

I want to talk to them. I want to talk to anyone.

You guys. Crazy story.

No.

Oh, he's ignoring me.

Direct.

They are.

Direct eye contact, but completely ignore. It's hard out on the streets, guys. It's like, it just gets awkward sometimes.

You're putting yourself on the line. Oh, come over here. Come on. You can be a nominous. Yeah, we don't have to show your face. Oh, he's running. You're almost running. You'd love our podcast. Our names? Olivia. And Olivia, yeah.

Olivia, Olivia.

Yeah, got the same name. Celeste.

Beautiful.

No one really asks people out these days, you know? So if someone's confident enough to ask you out, you know, I'll give them a little. And I was walking into the car park and this cute guy, and he looked a little bit dangerous, had a weird gold tooth.

I don't know. And he was like, you're really cute. Can I get your Snapchat? Thinking, I'm not going to give you my Snapchat. I don't have Snapchat. Yeah, so you can take my number.

Anyway, so we're texting and he's, some of his craziest.

Pictures, whatever.

I think I was playing hard to get and I was just telling him, I don't know. Anyways, but it turns out we go to Macca's, we just, you know, classic Macca's run.

Oh, you go to Macca's for your first date? I wouldn't call it a date.

It was just, we were just, we just, you know, he was like, let's hang out, whatever, we can.

Hang out, you know.

Yeah.

And it turns out that he's fresh out of jail. Yeah, fresh out of jail. He is, he's on parole.

Oh.

Do we know what he did? Yeah, I think robbery.

He robbed a place and he made a run for it. I have a question. Did he pay for the Maccas?

Did he pay for it? I actually think he did.

Oh, there you go.

I think he might have. I don't know where he got the money from. He probably robbed someone.

Maybe.

So how did this end?

Did you ever proceed with the relationship?

Oh, there was definitely no relationship. We have the book of answers here. Oh, we do. We do. I love this. Yes. Okay, so we.

Have fortunes in this bag.

Okay.

And then a book of answers which has yes or no statements in it. Liv will run her hands through it, and when you say stop, whatever answer comes up is to the.

That's meant to be for me.

Exactly. So what would you prefer?

It's not you choose that and then it answers you? No, you can just choose both. Let's just choose both.

You ask this a question, any question you want, maybe about the guy.

Yeah.

I don't care about him.

Celeste, you can ask whatever you want.

Will I find love this year? Not long left.

Yeah.

All right. Tell me when to stop.

Tell me when to stop.

Stop.

Oh.

General persistence will pay off. General persistence will pay off. That's amazing.

I'm very persistent. Yeah.

There's someone on the scene.

There's a little crush.

We haven't done the fortune yet.

Yeah.

See what this relates to.

You are going to become wildly successful because someone less talented annoyed you.

Valid. But I don't know what it means, but I'm going to, can I keep it?

It might be from this story.

Yeah.

Yeah.

You might rise into a bit of success from this.

Well, thank you so much. You're welcome, Olivia. So, so exciting to be here.

I'm obsessed with you.

I love you guys.

Enjoy.

Good luck.

Thank you.

So you, I love you more.

My name's Alex. Nice to meet you, Alex. I'm from Vancouver. We're going worldwide, guys.

Now, Alex.

Yes.

Can you please tell us your story?

Sure.

So I work in mental health, like in the emergency room. So even just like seeing you guys talking, I'm like, what story?

Yeah, you probably have.

Totally.

Like every day I'm like, what is the craziest thing that happened today? But like my favorite one is like, it's kind of like cute. It's like kind of kind of sweet, especially because like in the emergency room, like everyone's like, kind of bonkers they're like unwell they're doing whatever and like my job is to like make them feel comfortable and like get them the care that they need you.

Have that energy yeah i asked you before you even spoke if we could be friends yeah and that's a great personality trait it's.

A good it's good vibes it's just like I like doing my job and then I come to work as I am and it helps meet people where they're at.

You need to stop crying.

It's like therapy.

Yeah, that's what.

It is sometimes.

Sometimes people are just having such a hard time and they just need someone to talk to. Sometimes it's, like, talking people off of a ledge.

Absolutely.

And then sometimes, like, it makes me feel good when we get to have a good conversation and we get to figure out, like, what's going on. And, like, actually, maybe, like, this is a solvable thing. Or, like, ooh, maybe you need a little bit of help. Maybe you got to stay with us for a few days. Like, we'll keep you safe and all that kind of stuff.

They just need one person to listen and you're that person.

Yeah, and it's, like, that's my favorite part of the job. Like, I get to talk to people. And there's this one lady, like, I guess this is the story, but there's this one lady, um... I haven't seen her in a while. So it makes me think that she's actually doing really well, which is great. Um, but she kept coming in for like every so often cause she didn't take her meds and stuff like that.

And then I get a call from my charge nurse and they're like, Hey Alex, like this person's coming in. Like we're going to need restraints. We need to put her there in the quiet room. Like, okay, what, what's going on? Like what's happening? And they're like, like, she's acting so wild. Like all the cops, like all these, all these people coming in. And so I'm like, okay, like when I hear that we have to prepare for the worst because keeping people safe, like that's, that's the main thing.

Yeah.

Exactly.

So we have the stretcher, we have all our security. I go out into like the ambulance bay and I'm just like, Oh geez. Like I know this lady, like we've had, we've had like a good laugh before and she's needed the quiet room sometimes just cause.

Like too much is happening.

Yeah.

Decompress.

Exactly.

Like we're going to dim the lights. Like you'll just have some quiet time. Like we'll let the meds kick in. Like you'll be good girl. Like it'll be fine. And so I knew this and then I get the report from the cops. They're like, yeah, she was like running around in like this pharmacy and started like screaming and yelling and like she wouldn't listen.

And it's just like, oh, that's such a traumatic situation.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And so they're like, how do you want to do this? Do you want us to like just go in and then, like, take her out of the cop car.

I'm like, no, no, no, no, no.

Let's talk to her first. Let's see what's going on. And then, so, we open the cop car door and I'm just like, hey, it's me. And she's like, oh, my God, hi, Alex. Like, super, like, she's so manic right now. She's, like, talking a mile a minute. She's like, you'll never guess what happened.

Like, da-da-da-da-da.

And I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait. So, this is what's happening? Like, it doesn't sound like you're doing well. And she's like, no, absolutely not. But, like, da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da. And then I'm like, okay, well.

Like last time, we got to bring you in. We got to settle you again. And she's like, okay, cool.

And I'm like, okay.

She's like, oh, my bestie.

Yeah, she's just like, oh, I'm just going to, this is the person I get to yap with.

And I'm like, okay, cool, great.

And so I'm just like, okay, like we got the restraints and the meds and everything, but like, Like, do you need them?

Like, are you going to be chill? Are you going to walk with me? And she's like, oh, I'll walk with you.

Can you imagine all the cops?

Exactly. And so I'm just like, OK, come with me. Like, if you're going to be chill, I'll be chill. Like, no one's going to put their hands on you.

Like, you just walk with me.

We'll get you some meds. We'll get you settled, changed, all that jazz. And she's like, cool, okay. We walk in. This horde of cops and security are, like, walking behind us. And I'm basically, like, skipping along the, like, in the emergency room with this gal and just, like, yapping away.

And I'm like, ooh, what's going on?

And, like, assessing her, being like, what, like, why are you not feeling so well and stuff like that?

And all the cops are just like... That's it?

They're like, what kind of magic does Alex have?

Literally.

And then, like, we get her settled and that's fine. And I'm like, okay, we don't need you guys. And they're like, that's it? And I'm like, yeah.

Just be a good person.

Just being human.

Yeah.

Treating people with kindness and having a safe space and still treating them like a human being.

You didn't treat her like she was sick.

No, I was just like, hey, girl. Yeah. Hey, girl works in every situation.

Yeah, totally.

That's a lie.

Like, I'm not the biggest, tallest, like, macho dude such.

A beautiful presence yeah and it works so well in my line of work that's like my favorite part of the job being.

Able to help people and like connect.

With them and it's like such a traumatic thing generally but being able to like be the person to be like okay here's here's the start of things this is what's about to happen but like you're safe you're.

Fine do we do a quick yeah let's do a book of answers so this is a book of answers you can ask any question relating to your story or if you just have a question the book.

Of answers maybe about what your last day in sydney is going to be like.

Will you be back in sydney Oh, will I be back in Sydney?

Yes, yes, yes, yes.

Right.

Or Australia in general.

Oh, yeah, we would love that. Whenever you're ready.

Oh, she's flicking.

There.

Okay. Move on.

It just says move on.

It just says move on.

That's all right.

Oh, my God.

Thank you so much.

This is lovely.

Guys, I am not going to lie.

I want an ice cream.

I do too, bro.

Yeah.

Oh God, we got a whole group. What's your name?

My name's Oscar. Hi Oscar.

Hi Oscar.

We're both Olivia. Welcome to In The Comments.

Thank you.

Wait, why does he have a posse behind him?

Yeah, what is this? Alright, alright, alright.

I'm going to have to turn around. This is crazy.

Been friends like a few years, so we started to plan a trip to Kenya.

Okay, alright.

Oh, wow.

Yeah, so basically we booked our tour guide and we were with him for like a couple of hours until we lost him.

So.

What, in the middle of Kenya?

Yeah.

We were just mucking around. We were mucking around too much. We were, like, taking a piss.

Pause.

What do you mean, mucking around?

Like, it was a group tour. In the safari. Yeah, so on the own.

With the lions.

Yeah, with the lions.

So you were just fucking around.

Yeah, pretty much.

You were, like, running around and going, come and find me.

Young and dumb, eh?

Yeah.

Oh, right.

So we were in the car, and then the bloke told us to hop out because, like, he thought it was safe, so we all looked around. We strolled a bit too far, eh? And then we lost our tour guide, and there was a local river nearby, so we went down.

To the river and then i.

Guess i'm just looking at it and then like this hippo gets out of the water and we all just get up and sprint away and like we've got to like really run fast here and we climbed in a street and we had.

To stay there overnight so they could get.

Us they're lying this is not true on everything you love which.

Is what.

Oh, that's beautiful.

I like that.

Wait, you climbed into a tree?

Yeah, we all climbed into a tree. We had to stay there overnight. Well, we didn't have service, so we had to wait for them to find us.

What?

Which took like overnight.

What? Was that a good bonding moment?

Yeah.

Did anyone cry?

Nah, we didn't cry.

And guys, it's cool to cry, isn't it?

Yeah, it's not bad to cry.

Yeah.

When was the last time you cried, Oscar?

Oh, maybe like two months ago. All right.

Why?

She cried yesterday.

Reasons, you know.

Did you have a breakup?

You can ask the book of answers a question and it could relate to your story or something else.

Just anything, like maybe you'd want to ask about your ex.

Yeah.

Or you could be like, was that hippo going to kill me? Okay, so ask the question.

Was the hippo going to kill all four of us?

Okay, and then I'm going to flip through and you tell me when to stop, right?

Stop.

Follow the advice of experts so probably so.

Probably yeah yeah you're probably all gonna be fucked yeah.

Yeah there you go oh thank you yuck you kids get away yuck yuck go to school guys you should do this you should.

Anything you can be on a podcast and people will be like wow You look extremely cool.

I'm excited to hear this story.

So basically what this is, you get to tell us a crazy story and then we have the book of answers.

You ask it a question and then you'll be on our podcast.

Yeah.

Beautiful.

So if you want to just take the floor, tell us your story.

Okay.

So I'm telling you my story. That's actually my life story. That's when I become to be a person. Okay. Because I've been straight my whole life. Okay. Because I've got a very, very religious background. So I was born in a church. I've been there, you know, trying to find Jesus. Jesus didn't find me.

Yeah.

And then my first kiss with the woman was with a woman who was studying to be.

A pastor in the church.

Wow.

Okay.

So we became friends, like not like intentionally to have anything else.

And then with this friendship.

I didn't know there was lesbian Ada. You know, I always had the style and the stereotype, but I never allowed myself that I could explore that.

Yes.

So that kiss came very late in my life when I was 20. Wow. So I have boyfriends, you know, I had a boyfriend for four years. Wow. Never enjoyed that much.

And then this woman who was in a church, I met her and then she kissed.

Me, not the other way around.

How did the kiss happen?

So we went to.

A party, went to travel, you know, she didn't drink, didn't do anything wrong, but the.

Party was okay.

As a pastor, can you kiss anyone?

No, she shouldn't be kissing. She shouldn't kiss anyone, not even men.

Anyone, like, just you should introduce the person to her pastor, to her pastor to approve. And then they could, before getting involved in something, they would ask for God's permission.

Yes.

If they got a sign.

Because technically a pastor is like married to God.

Yes.

That's a long journey for you to be able to kiss someone.

Okay.

If that's a woman.

No.

So this kiss had happened out of nowhere. And then for me, it was like, okay, that's how.

I want to live my life.

So did she just come up and kiss you?

No, she was like, we became having like a very flirting friendship with a lot of jealousy involved. You know, I was dating men. She was like always pointing something bad about them. And I was always like, enjoying that she didn't like them so I didn't know what was happening yes you know I didn't understood there was like something sexual going.

On yeah and then even.

When I noticed it I was like okay this is not okay this is just me yes and I'm not gonna go proceed with this it's not mutual No, no.

And that's not right. For me, it wasn't right. That was also from the church. And my parents, very religious as well. Yeah, okay.

So scary.

And then we very close in a party. You know, she decided to drink that night. That's the thing. Okay, yes.

So I was like, okay, you're not a pastor yet. Let's have some fun. I'm not a very good.

Influence, anyways.

Yeah, exactly.

You know, I haven't... You wanna have fun, you're young, you're only 20. You know, I think that you can be next to God and you can still drink. That's my belief. And then she, we got, you got drunk.

Yeah.

And then, like, touching and stuff, you know, gonna be more sexual.

And then a big kiss had happened.

Oh!

And then I was like, whoa.

Yes.

And then we pretend nothing happened, you know, but for me, that's when I understand, okay, I got feelings for this person. Yeah. And then we start like, okay, this is not going to happen again.

Yeah.

She was like, you're having a lot of conflict. I'm going to the hell.

Yeah.

What's going to go? I hope God can forgive us.

Yes.

I'm like, man, do you know what? Yeah. If the hell is like this, that's why I want to go by turbo gun.

Oh.

I want to be there. I want to be in the house. That's what's going to happen there. And then, yes, and then we kept the friendship. And then lots of kiss kept happening, you know, and then like drinking is an excuse to kiss.

This sounds like a TV show.

So that was always happening. That's always the same circle. This is not okay. This is wrong. Let's go to the church. Let's say I'm sorry. And then it was happening again. So at some point it was like, okay, I've got feelings for you.

Yeah.

I can't keep doing this.

No.

And then she was like, okay, let's be girlfriends then.

Oh.

And then we were girlfriends for two days. Oh. Two days.

Okay.

Two days. She was like, okay, let's come out.

Yeah.

You're going to tell everybody and then you're going to have to leave the church.

Oh my gosh.

You know, she's like, okay, let's do it. But then she was like, no, I can't. She got scared.

I can't do this.

She's married to a man now. We haven't spoke since then. How old are you now?

I am 35. Oh.

Yes that was my first kiss yes you know.

And then did you move here I.

Wasn't out as a gay person in Brazil yeah so I was living a double life yeah you know not in the church anymore but I was always pretending I had a boyfriend I was actually a feminine style as well long hair you know and then when I came in here I was like okay I'm gonna.

Be who I would be if nobody knew who I am. And I was like, okay, it was the first time that I told someone, okay, I'm a lesbian. And I was like, ouch. And now look at you.

And I was like, oh my God, I'm telling people. When I heard this coming out of my mouth, I was like, okay, this is wild.

Yeah, it would have been.

You know, and then I was like, so it's been 12 years that I don't date men.

Because even in Brazil, I was kind of bi. Yeah, yeah.

Just kind of to be seen with men.

Yeah, of course.

You know, but since I.

Moved to Australia and then this person tried to talk to me while I was in here, but she's married to a man. I was like, okay, I don't have any unfinished business with this person. She hurt me a lot, actually. I'm telling the good things, but there was a lot of emotions involved.

And then, yes. So I've been living in Australia now. For the rest of your life? Yes. I haven't spoke to my parents for eight years. Oh, I'm sorry. So things got better. Yeah. You know, I have a twin sister, which is very, very girly. So you got the strange version. Don't worry. You know, the strange version is there. Exactly, yeah.

And that's my story.

Oh.

Thank you so much well like that's an incredible story yeah and like it's so.

Brave as well there was that was wild you know i didn't um i didn't know that was my choice so once i got here i was like okay i'm gonna live my life how i'm gonna be i was always pretending even my my traces even the way that i behave the way that i move.

It's quite lesbian Yeah, well it's interesting how when you are trying to hide who you are, but you're forced into positions where you just have to accept it anyway.

Yeah, and then you're always like worried how you look, if you're behaving accordingly, if you're moving, and then that's very tiring.

It is, it's so tiring.

You know, it's very tiring to pretend to be straight. Imagine you pretend to be lesbian, that's hard.

Yeah.

It's not easy, try.

Yeah.

I mean, when I'm here, try!

We can we get people to ask a question to the book of answers okay so any question any question it could be about i don't know would it be crazy i'm gonna ask you for you too yeah you ask.

This and then we flick and then we stop when you tell us.

To stop let's ask a question yes or no or yes yeah yeah so what do you reckon because are you.

Seeing anyone at the moment.

Me yeah no should we ask if you're about to yeah if you're about to find the love of your life okay let's do it because that's what i'm looking for okay perfect i'm looking for a love of my life guys.

Okay so you tell me when to stop uh stop.

You'll need to consider other ways.

So maybe how you're going about it.

I know because I've been meeting good girls. Yeah. And they're too right. Too correct about everything.

You know.

Oh, so like they're almost too perfect? Too perfect.

What?

Yeah, you need a bit of... That doesn't exist.

I need a bit of adventure, you know, like that. That's why I need to heal. I like a grandma. There you go, there you go.

I know, I need to consider.

Okay, so you need to go for it. You need to, you have a type.

Okay.

Try something else.

Yeah.

If I have a type, try something else.

You're going for something that's just not working. So go for someone that maybe you would never go for.

Yeah, yeah.

Okay.

A man?

No, joking.

Do you try that? I'm not going back there. I am not going back there.

Oh my God.

Thank you so much. I appreciate it. You are awesome. Very good luck with your podcast. Thank you so much.

Do I have.

A sweat patch? I think I do.

So my crazy story is basically when I was maybe 14 years old, I had.

Got gifted these two baby guinea pigs for my birthday from my mum and they were like really really cute just like adorable and I was obsessed with them and I had to leave them because I do one week on one week off at my parents house when I was younger I was at my dad's house child of divorce I was at my dad's house for a week I came back to my mum's and there was only one guinea pig left and it was because my stepdad had eaten it.

What?

I thought that was not what I thought.

Okay.

How?

Why?

Because he thought it was a delicacy from Peru and he just.

Wanted to give it a go.

What? Yeah.

Oh my God.

So he.

Killed it and ate it himself.

Yeah.

And what did you, how old were you? I was 14.

I was just like, kind of like, fuck.

Was it nice? Did he say?

He said he seasoned it well.

Okay.

What was that?

What was its name?

I don't remember now.

It's probably a good thing. Trauma blocked that out of my head. We could ask a question from beyond the grave. Yeah, we can ask a question to your guinea pig maybe.

Oh my God, yes. Do you have a question?

It needs to be a yes or no question. And then if you have one, Liv will flick through. You tell her when to stop.

Yeah.

A question for my dead guinea pig that got eaten. Eaten alive. Is your stepdad well?

Did he get sick from it?

I don't think so.

I think he's just kind of crazy like that. Yeah. But I'd love to know what my guinea pig's doing on the other side. Is the guinea pig okay? Yeah, because it's sort of a yes or no statement. Is the guinea pig okay?

Alright, I'll run my hands through.

And you tell me when to stop.

Stop.

Oh.

No. We have a direction O. The guinea pig is not okay.

And in hindsight, that might have been a dumb question.

That might have been dumb.

The guinea pig.

Got cooked and eaten by a stepdad while its owner was away at the other parent's house.

So it probably isn't okay.

And do you know what?

That's no fault of yours. In some countries, it's normal.

Yeah, you know what? A delicacy. Yeah, exactly.

I just don't really want to. run into my guinea pig in the afterlife and just.

No well we could ask another question yeah yeah why not if you do.

Will it be okay will we make amends in the afterlife will you make amends okay tell me when to stop stop There will be obstacles to overcome.

Yeah, that's all right. That's fine.

A bit of open communication.

And guinea pigs are small, so you can just kick it. You can get some closure, you know?

Yeah. You just say, sorry, I think just the obstacles could be just a nice conversation because I've heard that guinea pigs can talk in the afterlife.

Big for forgiveness.

Yes.

Well, thank you so.

Much, Olivia.

That was great.

That was a beautiful story. I'm so happy you enjoyed it. Shocking in ways.

That i really enjoyed a clear beginning middle and end you know what's good about that story is that you have a very calm demeanor yes oh yeah i if i was telling that story people would immediately know that something bad was going to happen whereas i was like what's she gonna tell us yeah you know because it's just a nice subtle voice your voice put me to sleep.

There you go well thank you so much thank you so much it's so funny so good i can't believe he ate that What the fuck, bro?

I didn't even choose for you to be in my life and now you get my guinea pig.

Jesus.

We don't bite.

Okay.

All right, boys. Yes.

You've got a story. A mutual story, is it?

We have a story, but one of us remembers it better than the other. Who does? Okay, so we'll get Byron.

So, Anzac Day.

Yeah.

We.

Did a big little, well, big pub crawl.

Okay. In Australia?

In Australia, yeah.

So playing a bunch of two-up, a bunch of drinks, good fun.

And then we, eventually it comes to the point of the night where we need to go home.

Yes.

And then we're looking for the e-bikes on the map. Like, you know how you can see all of them on the map. And then we cut through this, like, bush and then into this apartment complex. Okay.

Okay.

And there's this big ledge to get over to access the e-bike.

And it's about a.

Seven meter drop, which we're not aware.

Of at the time. And then unfortunately, yeah, there's a video of it. We're on foot, yeah.

Then unfortunately, Harry here jumped over the ledge.

Yeah, he jumped.

You jumped down.

Yeah.

I'll show you the video. There's a good video of this.

It was at least seven meters.

So it was pitch black. Pitch black, pretty much.

And then what was the conversation like? Oh, bro, you do it, Harry.

Go on.

Not much conversation. No, no, zero conversation at all.

No, all right.

So Byron, you were like, I'm going to get Harry to do this.

Yeah, well, Harry's looking for the e-bikes. I was going for it. It wasn't like we nominated him.

Yeah, yeah, no.

He was looking for the e-bikes on his phone. Got a little video here.

Seven metres?

It was pretty far. I broke three by the way. Yeah, so then he lands on his feet. Do you want to tell the story?

Yeah, so I landed on my feet and obviously the shockwave from landing on my feet came up.

You were in a tree.

Yeah, it looks like a tree.

You were at the top of a tree.

At the top of a tree, yeah.

Yeah, and you dropped. And you thought, I'll let go.

Yeah.

Well, I've been drinking since Friday. I didn't know.

Did you see how far?

Or you just thought?

I didn't even see.

I didn't even look.

God, there could have been alligators out there.

No, I could have died.

You were at the top of a tree. You were holding on to the top of a tree.

Yeah.

So you're up there and you go, I'm going to let go.

Are you okay, Harry?

How are you feeling?

I'm good now.

At the start, I thought it was funny and then I realized he actually probably hurt himself.

So yeah, not so funny after that.

And so it came the shock wave or whatever came up yeah so.

So i landed on my feet like this and then i fell back yeah um and the shock wave that comes through.

The legs it broke all all three here but.

The pain the pain's all on the lower back so that's how it was this wasn't long ago so how are you walking so what's going on i don't understand um so i had about I'd say six weeks proper recovery.

Oh, shit.

Did you have to have an operation? No, no, no, just lots of painkillers.

That's so awful.

Lifts to the tail, though. Lifts to the tail. Good to go now.

Did you really have to go back home?

Yeah, I was with my parents for a few weeks.

Whoa.

Did you feel bad? Yeah, of course.

How were you feeling?

I was proper worried. Cause like, no, we didn't get the ammo. It was late at night.

Yeah.

But he managed to like stand up.

Oh yeah. I do that too.

I break my back and walk it off.

He's a trooper. Yeah.

You know yeah there you go is it the book of answers time yeah.

So you get to ask any question that you want i'll flick through and then you tell me when to start the question can be a yes or no question it can be did i deserve to break my back was it byron's fault that i broke my back should have i died etc etc whatever you kind of feel um connected to out of those or your own Sounds good.

Is it Byron's fault?

Is it Byron's fault? Is it Byron's fault? Yeah.

Let's see what the book of answers says.

Three, two, one.

Tell me when to stop.

Stop now.

Consider it an opportunity, Byron. What does that mean? I think Byron could perhaps next time push him.

Does that mean he's breaking his bike next time? No, hopefully not.

All right.

All right.

And that is the end of In the Comments in the Wild.

How do you feel? I feel great. I love talking to strangers. I love it too. I think it's my new hobby. I think so too. Yeah, yeah.

It felt like really nice to understand people's stories.

It was really good to connect with people face to face.

And I actually felt thrilled by some of the stories.

There was an element of surprise.

Yep.

Someone ate a guinea pig and another broke their back and you know so that's like kind of all you need to say that it was a success may i do hyper specific.

Goodbye that is our goodbye goodbye.

To the people that were at bondi beach today like not while we're filming today but when you're watching yeah goodbye to the people that have um.

Broken their backs and goodbye to the people that have eaten a guinea pig.

Goodbye to guinea pigs in general oh well maybe not in general.

God that guinea pig is so mad at that girl.

Oh dude the way it said of course yes but of course it's mad yeah it got eaten by a stepdad that's crazy you can follow us at in the comments pod on instagram for daily explainers reels and all the other good stuff and on TikTok in the comments podcast.

I would do this again. I would too.

Yeah.

Maybe in front of the opera house next time.

Yeah. Or Coogee beach. We could go to different beaches.

Yeah.

We could go just on that.

We could do a beach tour and kind of just go around the country and maybe, maybe go to Italy as well.

Wait, bro. Should we go for a swim right now? Yes. Let's do it. Run up, Pam, you idiot.

That would have been a great outro.
