If you want this costume, it's in the pet section at Kmart. For reference, I'm wearing a large to extra large.
What's up, superstars? Welcome to In the Comments. Today we're talking about everything that happened over the last week on our 4U pages. Kylie Jenner in the VS show. David Dobrik.
H3 and the drama of a cheating scandal. And Trisha Paytas.
Yeah, season three of Nobody Wants This and a really specific scene.
And the lore behind that.
That show's amazing, isn't it? I love it. And you know what? 30-minute episodes is life-changing.
It is. And they really know how to pack a punch and they don't like overdo it, underdo it. They give you the perfect amount.
It's perfect. Although nothing will be easier than one. No.
I know.
So hyper-specific hellos to Elsa.
Oh. Yeah.
Hi, Elsa. Hi, Elsa.
And Anna. And wait, maybe someone that had a sultana toast.
Oh, like raisin toast? For breakfast. That's so weird that you said sultanas.
I think so too.
I've never called it that in my life.
And anyone that has jump scared someone in the last 24 hours.
I like it. And hello to people who like pumpkin.
Yeah.
I like you.
I'm Liv and you're also Liv.
Yeah.
Sorry, you forgot about that. Yeah.
And thanks for joining us yet again.
Let's dive on in. Happy gay Halloween.
Happy gay Halloween.
I'm assuming this has been on your For You page. Oh, yeah.
It's all over it. It's all the best costumes, bruh. I saw a meme this morning. It was like, I hate gay Halloween. What do you mean? I'm Dakota Johnson telling Ellen that she was invited to my birthday party.
Basically, this started in 2023 on X on Twitter. And it was from an account named Beefy Fridges.
Oh, so it's actually like a thing that started with someone.
Yeah.
So the first tweet about this was, I hate going to gay Halloween parties. Like, what do you mean you're Lady Gaga at the 253 mark of the Judas music video? Oh. So it's like hyper, you know, we do hyper specific hellos. Yes. This is like hyper specific moments in like culture or pop culture.
Yes.
And you're referencing it through Halloween.
The meme now always starts with I hate gay Halloween.
Yeah.
But it means you love it.
Exactly.
Yeah.
And it's like, I hate gay Halloween. What do you mean? I'm the girl in Sex and the City that fell out the window and died. Yeah.
That's so good. And it was such a good costume too.
It was the girl and then a curtain rod. through their back and then those curtains here and then you could fake fall through the curtains.
You know what i think gay halloween is often like really like economical costumes too like you're not going full.
Out it's very economical in the way that you just have to be creative with your.
Mind exactly every halloween people but also like women specifically yeah have to choose between being funny and then being like sexy.
Yeah i obviously always go sexy um Wait.
Do you have a really crazy costume that you've like done one year where you're like, ugh?
Well, as I said, I always go super sexy. And like my last one was Alan from The Hangover. So like just kind of oozing sex.
Yeah.
That's on my dating app. And it gets.
You know what? It does wonders.
Likes, likes, likes, likes, likes.
Okay. It is cultural literacy. So I'm going to.
Yeah.
Wow.
Smart. Producer Coco, who you might hear the voice of in the distance. Throughout the episode.
Yep.
She's in the room with us right now, if you can tell. Say something. Ooh, very Halloween-y. Yeah, so she actually said that this was one of her favourite of the examples I have about the best gay Halloween costumes.
I love this.
And I will, you need a visual, but I'll read it out first. Okay. What do you mean you're Gino DeCampo's grandmother if she had wheels and was a bike? I don't know this. If my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a bike.
Dude, it's the funniest.
Wait.
Basically, this famous cook or chef, I should say, was on a British news show.
Yeah.
And he regularly does segments and he's cooking. And then one of the– she's very famous. I forgot her name. News anchors. One of the news anchors was like, oh, yeah, it kind of tastes like carbonara. And then he goes, yeah, and if my grandma had wheels, she would have been a bike. Yeah.
But then people have like repurposed it a million times.
It's so funny. Also, please do not judge my Italian accent. It's terrible. You were just in Italy. Come on.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Moving on.
And then what do you mean your Andrew Garfield's monologue in the social network? Again, I just, I feel like I have to quickly, I won't play the whole thing. She dressed up in a dry cleaning plastic sleeve and then she had Prada slippers. And she's like yelling the monologue, which is obviously very famous. Then we've got, what do you mean you're Cynthia Erivo's acrylic nail? I couldn't find the video again. She just up as like just a real sparkly. That is so funny. Yeah, it's so great.
She had like an extension because you know how if you know, you know. That is so funny. Cynthia has incredibly long nails. It's actually a work of art.
They are.
Her nail tech is insane.
Yeah.
And she usually has, especially during the Wicked press tour, she would have gems.
Yeah.
And she would make them green and she would really go full out. It'd be like method nails, basically.
Yes.
So a woman, she's dressed up with this extension. And she had this, like, sparkly gem outfit on. It was beautiful. Oh, I love that. That's such a smart idea. Okay, what do you mean you're Elizabeth Holmes and her drop of blood? And it's basically Elizabeth Holmes in her classic turtleneck, which, by the way, I recently learned from Amanda Seyfried that she was copying Steve Jobs' iconic look and she did a red lip to sort of make herself different.
Yeah.
What do you mean you're the vacuum from Teletubbies?
The no-no.
Isn't that funny as? And it's some guy with a weird trunk. Anyway, that's my list. But guys, do be creative. Do embrace gay Halloween. And just, you know, who cares about being sexy? Because you can be both. No, I care.
Look at me. I care, guys. David Dobrik. He's back in the game. He's coming up on everyone's For You pages. And, you know, it's been a conversation that's been going on in this room. It's been a conversation that's been going on in my household. Did you grow up watching him?
Oh, yeah. I used to have a iPad with a Minion case on it.
Yeah.
And I would watch every day. I'd be like 12 in my bedroom. My parents are like, ride a bike, get out of your room. And I'd be like, no.
I'm busy watching this 45-year-old get really drunk with 22-year-olds and jump onto tables.
It's kind of a strange thing to be watching as a young girl, but he targeted his audience in that way.
He did.
Absolutely.
Where he could skew between.
Yeah, he could. I want us to do a competition about who could do the best in the intro by memory.
Oh, wait, I don't even remember it.
Okay, but try.
Fake fan.
Try.
Wait, what is it? Okay, ready? I think it's, I think it's. I thought you meant he had the catchphrase.
Speaker 1:
The sound.
Oh, yeah, because it was like they would have a really funny beginning and then it would kind of like our intro, guys. Ooh, it sounds like a fart. Okay, so you know what? It's a bit lower. It's more like boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo.
Yeah.
This will be a really great user experience.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
David Dobrik, comment below.
Dude, I will never forget that, though, because he used to post on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, right?
Yeah.
And his videos were four minutes and 20 seconds.
Yeah.
It would come out when we were in school. So I remember for some reason it would come out in a certain year when it was like peak David Dobrik. We were always in English. And you could hear, or you could see, like, I remember accidentally playing it out loud once and everyone was like, is it out?
It's kind of like the Netflix dun dun dun. Yes, truly.
And you'd be in class and everyone would then start watching the David Dobrik vlog for four minutes and 20 seconds.
Well, explains why you're not good at English.
Okay. I actually was incredibly good at English. He was playing in a dangerous space at times. There were a few controversies that came up afterwards. Well, after his peak, I would say he had a few characters in his vlogs that ended up being not good. And then also he kind of got busted by COVID and he stopped vlogging for a bit and said that he was very burnt out. But then the infamous incident with Jeff Wittek happened.
Do you remember what happened?
Yes, he was. It's actually a really terrible accident. It's awful. He was dared to go on a crane.
Yeah.
Basically fly midair through it a couple of times.
Do you know who was driving the crane?
Wasn't it? What's the old guy?
No, it was David.
I thought it was Jason. I thought it was Jason.
Jason, I don't think was there.
That's so interesting. Well, Jason and Jeff are still sort of friends, aren't they? I don't know. Or like, weren't they on each other's pods or something?
No, I don't think they are.
Misinformation, guys.
Misinformation. Don't listen to that. But basically, yeah, you're right. So Jeff Wittig was a part of the David Dobrik crew. He was a very good looking young chap.
He was a stud. He was a stud.
Well, he is still a stud.
Yeah.
And basically they were in this, they were in this like weird.
Almost like a river.
Yeah.
They were quite remote.
Yeah.
And there was this massive crane.
Yeah.
And David was in it controlling it, obviously without a license. And Jeff was on the end of the crane and David was.
He was flying around basically.
Yeah, controlling the crane to, you know, kind of spin Jeff around. And Jeff would, you would let go and then you'd dive into the water.
Which, you know, there's like funny videos of like some guy in Europe that you hang on to and then you fly off.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's kind of like that, but like times a hundred. Yeah, exactly.
And like there's no professionals. They had no, like any healthcare available if anything went wrong. Basically what happened, David was controlling the crane. David stopped the crane far too quickly, meaning the I don't know the actual term, the velocity of Jeff's body kind of came to a halt quite quickly and he immediately flung down and smashed into the crane and he broke his face in nine different places and nearly lost his eye.
Now this- A lawsuit waiting to happen. Yes.
And it was- It.
Was, yes.
Spoiler. It indeed was a lawsuit.
This lawsuit went on for years because- It happened in 2020 when the whole accident happened, right?
Was it pre-COVID? It was pre-COVID. Well, I guess. Around the same time.
Yeah, around the same time. And then they maintained, well, they maintained their friendship for about a year. And then apparently.
Because he owes a lot of his success. To him. And there is a weird kind of dynamic there where it's like you've done a really bad thing and you're not a friend in that scenario. No. But also I do need you.
Yeah, exactly. And David was at the, like I actually when researching this, I had forgotten that David was the one controlling the crane.
Yeah, I didn't realise that.
What ended up happening was that they were going well for about a year and then after a year Jeff still was having to go into operations to fix his eye, etc.
etc.
And David kind of went on with his life and that made Jeff really upset.
Can I ask?
Yeah.
They posted the video?
No.
Okay. So. But there's footage out there.
Yeah, because, and I was a victim of this. This is the only time I've ever paid for Patreon. Jeff released all these four videos of the incident and you had to pay to watch it. I paid.
I guess it's the only way that he could.
Monetize off it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But also get his truth out there because there's so many loyal followers of David that would be like, oh, it's an accident. And of course it was an accident. But when you look at how they did not prepare for any sort of like safety measures here.
There was a lot of negligence in the situation. Like if, and it's like classic, like if you think about these kids that have just gone viral for all the things that they're doing. Of course, they're never going to have any proper practices in place.
Well, because he's gotten away with so much. I actually think this was bound to happen sooner rather than later, whether it was an accident like this or something completely different.
Because there had been really significant injuries in his vlogs before this.
Yeah. One of his favorite people to have on is Steve-O from Jackass. And is it Steve-O?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Um, and they'll do all these like crazy ass stunts and you're like, holy fuck. Like this is like intense. But then I think this one's particularly bad because number one, no one was inebriated. So like a lot of the times they would be drinking a lot and someone would be drunk and hurting themselves with their.
Their own actions.
Whereas David was at the hands of this, which made it really complicated.
And number two, um, But the really funny thing is... Sorry, this isn't funny at all.
No.
But the really hilarious thing is... I guess everyone already knows this, but... People wanted to impress David so much. They were willing to go the extra mile.
Yeah.
And I think Jeff was definitely in that mindset as well. He goes, oh, like my safety, it's okay. Like he has a lot of power. Like I'm going to do this. I'm going to get great views.
Yeah.
And then it went.
Yeah.
It went.
Yeah.
Which is so true. And Jeff is actually really funny. Like his content, I used to like watch his videos all the time and he was, he's a really funny guy and he had really good content. And I think this situation just got really messy because So basically what ended up happening is that he wanted to sue David for $ 10 million because he was under the impression that David kind of was like, whatever, and walked away from Jeff and all the operations and didn't really want any accountability for it whatsoever. That was until this year, which I didn't know. This kind of got swept under the rug.
But in May 2026, Jeff announced that he was dropping the legal fight and choosing to forgive David for Sorry. Jeff said that he'd recently discovered there had been a major miscommunication involving someone who previously worked on his team. So Jeff's team. So I assume I'm reading into this that Jeff was never in direct conversations with David and his team. He always had like an assistant or someone else that he had hired to communicate to David rather than Jeff doing it himself. According to Jeff, he hadn't properly understood that. david's company had provided insurance coverage for roughly 110 000 of jeff's initial medical expenses so basically jeff was saying like he was under the impression that
david wasn't helping out as much as he should have been and that jet and and then also david had personally paid another roughly 41 000 out of pocket And then Jeff and David now have clear communication regarding future medical coverage. And Jeff publicly apologized for the confusion and said that he wanted to leave the situation in the past.
The lawsuit was then reported as settled with the exact settlement terms remaining private.
When you think about how much medical bills cost in America.
$ 40, 000 is not that much.
How insane it was a very interesting how it just all got dropped eventually though.
That sounds like there was a huge payout.
Yeah yeah I reckon and David makes so much money oh I am quite embarrassingly a consumer of his content still I listen to his podcast I call it dumb noise so I will put it on when I need to go to sleep because I know I won't want to listen like I know I won't care if I miss out on it yeah the interesting thing is though he still has like a lot of loyal friends like Madison Beer and him still hang out they.
Still post videos Olivia Jade yeah what's.
He doing now do you think he's still generating significant income just from the podcast.
So he has been like quite strategic in the way that he has built up his, I guess, reservoir of money. When he wasn't posting on YouTube, he was one of the most active posters on Snapchat.
I was literally about to say this.
Snapchat generates so much money for huge creators. So you'll notice that all the Kardashians have a deal with Snapchat where they get paid. It's upwards of millions of dollars to consistently post on their stories.
Yeah.
So he was doing that the whole time. Number two is he's done quite well in investing. A good example is, so he did stop posting for a few years and then he came back with his body transformation.
Have you? Dude, it's actually, it feels like an alien.
I know. So true. So basically to summarize, David came back to posting on YouTube, basically with a fitness transformation where he got absolutely jacked.
But that's from his friend's business, which what's his name?
Ilya who was one of his best friends from home and then he Ilya made a fitness business called Zila but David is also co-owner of that business and they're trying to build that business up enough to then sell it and they're very open about talking about that yeah but bro I want to show you this photo again because I looked at this photo of David how crazy is that.
I mean it's a completely different person it is a completely different person how many months did that take.
Apparently it took him a year.
But there was the whole friend group that basically got a glow up.
Yeah, they all got a glow up.
Jason did it as well.
Yeah, Jason. But speaking of the friend group, I want to go through where all the characters are now, all the most important ones. Okay, I'm ready. Because are you still across them?
I mean, look, obviously we've got Trisha, who actually has probably benefited the most. Most, which is so beautiful. Yeah, she's become... Like she's obviously doing a tour in Australia now as well. Oh my God, I'm so excited. And she has separated herself and obviously was very outspoken about her hatred, I would say, for David. Towards David and Jason.
Yeah, so Trisha will get to her, but she, I feel like she's the most important one to come out of this. But we have Natalie, who was David's hometown friend. She's still very much in David's world. She still works for David as, I don't think she's his assistant anymore, but she's like a huge part of his company.
Their relationship also confuses me. So weird. Everything feels fishy. It's like one of those friend groups where.
I'd be like, I know, and Natalie dated Todd, who was also a character, but they broke up and then Todd.
He was also one of the good-looking ones.
Very good-looking. Yeah, Natalie and David are weird, and when you listen to their podcast, David makes so many jokes about wanting to have sex with Natalie and also makes so many jokes. Like, it's just so weird.
But it's one of those things of, like... Maybe like trying to be funny. Yeah. But he has lost touch with what is actually humour now.
I just was kind of like, I just, it really got me thinking. I was like, gosh, you really talk about this a lot.
Okay, see, I did not know that.
Heath and Mariah. They have had a baby. They are married. Their baby's name is Tony and now they live in Nashville, Tennessee.
I wouldn't be surprised if they named it David. I know, truly.
Zayn, the same.
Zayn the same. Put it on a t-shirt.
Nothing's really changed with Zayn. Karina Kopf.
Yes.
She is probably the most successful other than Trisha.
In terms of wealth?
Yeah, in terms of wealth. She launched OnlyFans in 2021 and became one of the top earners for the whole platform. And apparently she's earned nearly $ 70 million from it.
I mean.
And David did a tour of her $ 20 million home recently.
It's very like country Alabama, isn't it?
Yeah, she's got like a farm and stuff. Erin, remember Erin and Carly?
Oh, yeah, yeah. They were probably one of the better ones.
Yeah, they were like two best friends and they like were normal. Erin is, they're both. in serious relationships. Erin's married. She's still vlogging her life and she's pregnant. Carly is kind of got a good life but isn't pregnant as I wrote.
Wow, this is investigative journalism right here.
Jason Nash.
Jason.
Still so close with David.
Yeah.
They do views twice a week. Their podcast. Oh, right. So they do a 40 minute podcast twice a week. Oh, wow. Do you know what? Apparently they were going to get a major deal with Spotify, but Spotify said you have to film it.
Yeah.
And David said, I'm not filming this podcast.
Wait, what do you mean they had to film it?
So it couldn't just be audio. the deal needed to be on film.
Of course. Well, that's how a lot of podcasts are now. Exactly.
And David said, no, I don't want to do it. And those deals are like, those deals are like a hundred million dollars. Can you imagine that like power?
Oh, yeah.
And being able to choose not to do it. If we were getting offered $ 100 million and they're like, you have to film it.
I'd be like, hell yeah.
And one of us said, no, don't want to.
Oh, my God.
And Jason just has to go, oh, okay.
I'd film it naked if they wanted. Yeah, literally.
And then actually, and Jason's married. He married a woman called Naveen J in 2024.
What?
Yeah, Jason Nash is married.
There's no way.
Yes. And Jason Nash, as of a few episodes ago on Views, said to David, how would you feel if we told you that we were pregnant? I think he's going to have another baby.
No, he's too old.
He's too old.
But that's crazy in the context of like how he was with Trisha.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He never wanted a child.
He's such a slimy guy.
And then we have Trisha, who is the most successful. She dated Jason Nash while she was on David's vlogs.
Yeah.
And they had a very public falling out.
Yeah.
Basically because Jason Nash kept making jokes about wanting to hook up with Tenno Mojo.
Who was underage at the time.
Underage at the time. Trisha Paytas is definitely the most successful.
And she's in some current heat with Ethan.
Ethan Klein. And so she's married to a man called Moses. And they have three kids who are Malibu Barbie, Elvis, and Aquaman. Now, we wanted to speak about Trisha kind of and highlight her because of the most controversial thing on the internet this week. And that was the H3 Productions podcast. controversy of the affair that Ethan Klein had while married to Hila, who is Trisha Paytas' sister-in-law.
Yeah. To be a fly on the wall.
To be a fly on the wall. So basically what has happened is that Ethan Klein has had this very famous podcast for quite a long time now called H3. Like I feel like it was very popular maybe like eight years ago and Um, still quite popular. I went and looked at all the views of like their full YouTube things. Um, and they're still getting like 200,000 views on YouTube, which is pretty good.
I think very popular in America, but not many Australians listen to it.
It's kind of like cultural commentary. So like they will speak about what's whatever's going on. It's kind of, it's just like blokes sitting in a room with a few girls and they go, have you seen this? Have you seen this? Have you seen this?
If they didn't have their fame already.
Yeah.
It wouldn't be a thing.
No, exactly.
Exactly.
So basically what's happened is that Ethan Klein's wife has accused him of having a six month plus affair and his podcast crew have now refused to keep working with him. And now Trisha Paytas clips are resurfacing because basically Trisha had a podcast with Ethan for a little while called Frenemies.
Yeah.
And Frenemies was like infamous for this kind of like back and forth dynamic.
Yeah.
You know, like.
It was like the podcast studio was split down the middle of like Trisha was on like the pink, you know, like fairy side and then the black. Yes. Dark.
The side of Ethan.
Of Ethan, yeah.
And they were great together. I loved Frenemies, but they would just fight like cat and dog.
Well, yeah, their name was also part of their relationship. I think they obviously turned it on for the cameras as well.
Exactly, yeah. And at the time, Trisha was dating Ethan's brother-in-law and now is married to him, Moses. So, like, they were literally family.
Oh, yeah.
And the breakdown of Frenemies happened because Trisha believed that they were getting a 50-50 split of the profits. But really... Ethan was taking an extra 5% for production costs and then Trisha. brought up the fact that she was a bit like, where is this extra 5% going? Like, why can't I have extra say?
Well, also she was what people came for.
Yeah.
People wanted to see her rather than him.
Exactly. Like she was the heavy lifter here. She felt like she wasn't being treated as an equal and it all blew up on camera basically. And they posted it and they would post their fights. It was all very raw, unedited, incredible. Can you imagine if.
We started doing that? Oh, my God. It would be crazy.
It was so entertaining.
Like, I.
Trisha herself is just like that. Like, whatever she does will be interesting, right?
Yeah.
And I think Ethan knew that. Basically, Ethan. He's just a bit of a dirty dog.
Yeah.
So obviously there have been so many videos that have resurfaced.
Yeah.
Have you seen the Thing 1, Thing 2 costume?
No.
This is all speculation, but people have been resurfacing images and videos for a Halloween or sort of like a costume episode.
Yeah.
Ethan is Dr. Seuss. His wife is Thing 1. And then Tamara is Thing 2.
Oh, so and Tamara is who they think the affair is with.
Yes. And there was this really interesting part. Where Tamara brought up Dr. Seuss' personal life. And she said when she thinks of Dr. Seuss, she thinks about how he cheated on his wife while she had cancer. And then upon hearing this, Ethan panicked and he jumped to conversation and he awkwardly was like, what? Apparently Tamara organized the costumes.
No.
So she decided that she would be thing too.
Oh, my God. That is so messy.
Yeah.
And she's quite a lot younger. So like, you know, with a young mind, you probably would be like, I'm going to do this.
Yeah.
Spitefully.
And she's playing in his face a bit.
And like, obviously it's an incredibly messy situation and there's like a whole family, there's kids involved, everything. But one thing that I would like to highlight is that Trisha is being called an oracle. And she is being celebrated in her comment section.
As she should be.
There's resurfacing clips of Trisha calling Ethan out.
Yeah.
Particularly for how he treats his family and for how he's a miserable person.
Yeah.
But have you seen the way he looks recently as well?
Oh, yeah.
He's going through a whole. David Dobrik transformation himself.
Yeah, he's just like, there's something going on.
Yeah, there's something going on.
Anyway, so these are the things Trisha Paytas said about Ethan Klein during her time on Frenemies that predicted that he was not going to be a good partner. Number one, Trisha suggested that Ethan low-key... wished that he could be single while famous and rich and he replied that dating would be fun but he said he was happily married that exchange is now circulating and everyone was like trisha saw it before anyone else did before frenemies even existed trisha urged hila to break up with ethan because they had like this beef basically where he was being a bit of a body shamer And number three, during an argument on Frenemies episode five, Trisha said that she had noticed Ethan's sadness when spending time around his family and
connected and perceived the unhappiness to how he treated other people.
Whoa, mic drop. That's crazy.
Yeah, so she saw it all and is saying, wow, Trisha knew before we did.
I mean, his wife is beautiful.
She's so beautiful.
Men can have it all and still do the most diabolical things.
They really can.
Okay, so Kylie Jenner just made history by becoming the first non-angel to wear the fantasy bra.
Loved it.
And there were so many sort of reactions and people saying that, like, if this was any of the other angels... you know, it would have had significance, but her following.
Oh my God. The way that we all reacted when she came on screen, it was like we were possessed.
Well, when we saw the footage of Timothee Chalamet sitting in the front row, we knew something was about to happen. It rocked my absolute world. So just very quickly wanted to talk about the kind of reactions post the show. So I saw you like this. Meg Stolter, she.
What was she?
She does live shows. Yeah, she does live shows and she was wearing this white T-shirt. She had a black bra poking out and she got everyone to sort of react as if she was Kylie Jenner walking the carpet.
Meg Salter is the funniest person on earth. earth she's so real yeah you.
Know it's not the first time that she's recreated a Kylie Jenner look no Victoria's Secret commented on her video an absolute angel.
Oh yes go Meg I know I really need Kylie I need Kylie and her to link up do you know what Kylie should do yeah Kylie's got a new tv show coming out she's in the works of making it it's meant to be quite like i don't know what genre it is but make meg's malleable get meg in that get meg get lena yeah kylie put that in kylie meg salter needs to be in your new show.
And then my favorite comment actually from that video was my husband just asked if this was Lana Del Rey. I think it's iconic. And then obviously you probably saw Jake Shane posted a video recreating her look and the text on screen was genuinely boosted my confidence by doing this. And it got 8.9 million views. And I do think that not only like the walk, but that song, so Angel of My Dreams by Jade. Can I ask you, when do you think that was released? I've never heard it before it was released two years ago ah so this is something interesting so this is like a few stats I'll quickly just read out so following Kylie's walk The track saw a 4,300% increase in global daily streams.
Wow.
So jumping from fewer than 30,000 to over 1 million in just two days. 1 million streams.
Yeah.
Gigi Hadid.
Yeah.
Posted oh of course yes she.
Posted a carousel yeah to this song and everyone was saying that oh my god they couldn't believe that she did that and i didn't understand why basically.
Because of zayn yes yes wait can you explain it i don't know too much but obviously gg dated zayn malik from one direction yeah and then jade obviously dated zayn malik as well no i don't know what No, so what is the law? I thought that was it. I thought they dated. They're talking about Little Mix Jade. Like, there's no.
Yeah, that is the same Jade.
Yeah, that's the same Jade. The Jade that we're talking about is Jade from Little Mix. Yeah, so when she separated from Little Mix, that was one of her first songs that got released two years ago.
Yeah.
And so now it's only blowing up and it's getting all these streams.
Wow, what an incredible moment for, like, an artist who's trying to establish herself.
I guess she already had the success of Little Mix. But I also think they're probably kicking themselves in the foot that they didn't make her perform live before. it was all sort of like done over the speakers.
Well, I think that they probably, she wouldn't have had the caliber to like do it, to have, to deserve. Like, do you know what I mean?
Like the V.S.
Show, she probably, they were kind of like, we'll just play it. It's kind of like how they played the Nicole Kidman song.
The only backlash really from that song is that the part they played is the best moment in the song. And then everyone is saying that they go back to listen to the full song and no one's really into it.
But basically the lore about it is that, so Jade is from Little Mix and Gigi Hadid posted a carousel with the song and everyone said, oh my God, it's like the Treaty of Versailles because Little Mix also included Perrie Edwards and And Perrie Edwards dated Zayn Malik just as Zayn started dating Gigi Hadid.
They were engaged. Oh, they were engaged? They were engaged. Wait, who was?
Perrie and Zayn from 2013 to 2015.
And then when did he start dating Gigi?
He started dating Gigi.
I think very quickly after the engagement stopped. So it's like this kind of weird treaty.
But you know what? I actually don't find a song.
The same year that they broke up, he started dating Gigi. Ooh.
Boy moves fast.
So then Gigi posted this carousel and she used Angel of My Dreams and everyone freaked out because it's Jade's song and Jade's connected to Perry.
It's crazy.
I can hear it in my head right now. Do you want me to do as an end to the seg, I'll sing it and you try and be Kylie? Okay, sure.
But I'm like not walking.
No, it's fine.
You know what though? This looks like her cat.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, ready? And you kind of look like Kylie Jenner.
I wish you would stop saying that.
She literally looks like Kylie Jenner.
People are going to go, oh, let me look at this girl.
No, you look... Okay, ready? Three, two, one.
Okay.
Angel of my dreams. Oh, hear me.
The fact that Timothee Chalamet, there was a creator watching him the entire show. Victoria Paris.
Yes.
And she said, head down for all the models. Yeah. As soon as Kylie came on, he was clapping. He was present. Didn't have his phone up. The photo of everyone holding their cameras open.
It's like a Renaissance painting.
Hang it in the Louvre. I know it's very dystopian.
No.
But hang it in the Louvre.
It's an incredible representation of the time that we're in right now. Yeah. I do believe that, yeah, he had a strict regime in that situation. They would have spoken about that. He could have gotten clipped heaps.
Being like, ooh, ass.
Yeah, titties.
Because he's such a titty man. I'm sorry. That man is like.
Do you know what I read the other day, which I thought was quite interesting? So basically, obviously the Jenna sisters are at the peak of their fame, I'd say. But the Kardashians have never had lower ratings on their TV show. And they like to keep that kind of under wraps. And they don't do a lot of reporting about it publicly. But there is a little quote that I read that apparently you can tell by little signs.
And those signs include the fact that That they used to be able to afford licensing on the show for songs by Beyonce.
Wow.
Whereas now.
Beyonce ain't having it.
And they were like even.
Drunk in love.
So if you watch other Kardashians this season, we're not getting any like major A-lister songs.
Wow.
And as much as they would want to hide that the show's tanking. Hulu has taken budget away from them in little ways like that.
That's so interesting. I also think, though, it's not to say that, you know, Jade's not successful, but I don't think that she would have had a massive payout for her song being used. But if it was now.
I wonder if she would have had any.
I mean, true.
Maybe.
Yeah, she probably would have.
Yeah, she probably like I think she would have to. But like definitely now the song has like that just shows, though, that even the CEO of Victoria's Secret was saying that, You know, they could have had the models, but they wanted someone that would have so much more cultural relevance, especially to young girls who maybe are just growing up with Victoria's Secret.
No, it was absolutely the right call. If anything, maybe they should think about getting Meg Stalter next year. I wanted to talk about Nobody Wants This because season three just came out and like everyone's binge watching it. I binge watched it over the weekend. It's an incredible show. It was a cultural phenomenon. It was created and written by a woman called Erin Foster. Do you know who that is?
Nope.
Erin Foster.
I'm sure I would.
She's a part of the Foster sisters. There's three of them, but two particularly are famous, Sarah and Erin. They have a podcast themselves. And the whole show is based on Erin's real life, nearly. In the show, her husband's name is used as a character. Erin's actually in the show.
Oh, as like an extra?
Yeah, I'll tell you who she was. Erin is the epitome of like, you know, one of my favorite quotes, like Pinterest quotes is, if you see me with everything I want, just know I waited my turn. And Erin was very publicly single for a very long time.
Yeah.
And she was always talking about like her horrific dating life. Although, to be fair, her ex-boyfriends include Harry Styles and Chad Michael Murray.
So.
Must be hard, Erin. Yeah, must be hard. And actually there's very famous paparazzi photos of her and Harry Styles in a pumpkin patch.
Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah.
So how old was she when she dated Harry?
She was a lot older than Harry. Anyway, so Erin Foster is from a famous family. She's actually kind of related to the Kardashians and also the Hadids at the same time because her dad is David Foster, a very famous music producer. who was married to Yolanda Hadid for a little bit and then also to Brody Jenner's mum.
Right.
So, like, they're, like, connected through, like, every famous family possible, but they're also best friends with Kim Kardashian.
Interesting.
So it's this whole fucking web. Yeah. Anyway, they're super talented. Yeah, truly, web. They're super talented and Erin wrote.
Sorry, that was so lame.
Yeah.
I just pointed to the web on our set.
Yeah, she pointed to the web.
Great.
Erin basically... Like was single for ages. And then she found the perfect man. And that is who Noah.
Is based on. Yeah. That's beautiful.
And Noah.
You would do that.
Oh my God.
You would so write a show based on the love of your life.
Oh yeah. Like I would.
Yeah.
Especially if they were like as perfect as Aaron's husband's name is Simon.
Yeah.
Simon's not a rabbi, but Simon is Jewish. And the whole story of Joanne converting to Judaism is true as well. Like Aaron did that. And it's based on her story.
Yeah.
But the scene that's going most viral in season three is the proposal scene. And that's what you're up to in the show.
Yeah, I just finished that episode last night.
Yeah, it's so good. Hey, and also.
It got me. I'm surprised.
Oh, it fully got me too.
Yeah.
Because I even knew. So this scene is so romantic. Even if you guys don't watch the show.
Yeah.
You can appreciate it.
You can appreciate this. And like, we can all take notes.
Yeah.
Everyone take notes.
The men should take notes.
Men take notes.
Yes.
Take notes. Or women.
Or women, of course.
In the show, Joanne and Noah get engaged. And to do this, Noah sets up a whole fake weekend.
Yeah.
Where joanne thinks that she's going to a fake wedding.
Yeah brian's wedding or to a real wedding yeah but really yeah it's a fake wedding that noah has created for him to be able.
To surprise proposed to him to her that is based on a true story that is how aaron foster's fiance proposed to her.
Where is this man from?
How did he... I know.
He is the most romantic man ever.
Did they go to Napa as well?
Oh, wait. Yes, they did.
Oh, my God. So it was like play by play.
Yeah.
So play by play. So Aaron Foss's now husband, he's named Simon, proposed to her in Napa in 2019 with a fake wedding. The exact same plot that they used in Nobody Wants This. So he planted an invitation a month beforehand and got it sent to the house and... And Simon told Erin, okay, we're going to have to go to a friend's vow renewal. So it wasn't a whole new wedding. It was just a vow renewal.
A bit more low key.
A bit more low key, but invitations printed everything.
Still get your nails done.
Get your nails done.
Look nice.
Let's just like, we're going to this vow renewal. They'd only been together for a year. So I assume it's kind of like, you still want to impress your friends, et cetera, et cetera. Like, let's go to this thing. They sent the actual invitation to the house. and then she had the invitation similar to the show, like on the dining table and was like, okay, so this is a real thing. He then said, let's go and get a pre-Vow Renewal manicure. So he took Erin to go and get the manicure. He then proceeded to get a finger infection at the manicure. And that means that after the proposal, they had to go to the emergency room and they spent like three hours in the emergency room because his whole finger was infected, which was so funny. Anyway,
so then they- He could have just dropped her off. Yeah, yeah. And then they get to the wedding and all of the hotel staff were in on it, similar to the show. They checked in at the front desk. Erin said that everyone was like, oh, welcome to the vow renewal, like, and all of that. Now- very similar to the show as well. Erin said that the whole venue was really quiet and there wasn't any other people around and that the hotel staff had an excuse for that and said, oh, everyone's at a wine tasting.
Which is what was said in the show.
In the show. Exactly the same as the show. And he then turned around and in a vineyard got down on one knee.
Yeah.
And she had the same freak out that Joanne has in the show being like, no, no, no, like this isn't our time to do this. Like she was freaking out that like they were going to steal the spotlight.
Yeah.
And Simon had to tell Erin, no, I've faked all of this.
Which also makes her such a beautiful woman, like knowing that you don't like step on another person's toes.
I know.
And did the call with the sister happen as well?
So he proposed, et cetera, and got down on one knee and did the whole thing. And then the call with the sister was added in, but all of Erin's family was there. And all of his family was there.
That's so beautiful.
And it was the first time the families met. And so they were all together for the first time celebrating the engagement.
It does go to show I think the best piece of media or written work is when it's based on a bit of truth.
Yes.
Like something that feels like you've experienced it so you're able to like write on it more clearly.
It's so cute. And apparently the whole writer's room because they had a whole video of it.
Yeah.
And Erin also documented it. all on her Instagram stories. The writers' room watched the entire proposal video and based that scene and the whole episode off it. And then Erin is in the episode. She is the crazy lady at the airport.
You're kidding. They look exactly alike.
That nearly derails the whole thing.
Wait, so did that happen?
No.
Okay, I was going to say, I was like, when that bloody Mary got spilled on his jacket, I was like, oh, come on.
So Erin is the crazy lady at the airport that nearly ruins the whole thing.
Wait, she's an amazing actor.
Yeah, well, she was an actress for a little while. And then she also, a caveat is that she actually didn't wear sweats like Joanne did.
Yeah, I was going to say, I was like, I thought the twist of that episode was that the girl was going to break up Brian's wedding. So she was into Brian's, the guy getting married. Oh, yes, I thought that was going to happen too. And I was like, oh, I can kind of see this. It's a bit predictable. And then when that happened, I was like, When the tulips was mentioned. Yeah. I was like, you've got me.
I know.
Because those were her favourite flowers. But yeah, so there you go. So if anyone's figuring out how they should do a proposal, the bar is high now because everyone's watched Nobody Wants This and is expecting big things. I do think it could be the only way that I would be surprised. Like I would need some like in-depth planning like that.
I don't really care how I get proposed to. It's more just that I want to be surprised and I want it to be authentic.
Yeah.
Same, I'd say. okay guys well now it's time for in the field we're calling a girl called Ava and she's got a crazy story for us apparently hello Ava hi Ava.
Hello how are you guys we're.
So good how are you today I'm fabulous.
Did you know that your name's spelt the same way backwards as it is forwards.
Isn't that crazy?
I haven't heard that one before. Before we get into it, I just wanted to let you know that we have the book of answers here. Basically, it's a book with yes or no statements. And at the end of your story, you're going to just give a question that's maybe related to it in any way. We can help you out if you need. And then whatever answer it sort of gives you is what you should go forth with.
Yes.
Take it with you in your mind, body and soul.
Amazing.
Got the Bible. Yeah, I mean, basically. So whenever you're ready, you can go ahead.
In high school, I was sort of like set up with this guy.
I mean, I've been chatting a bit and things were going well.
And he took me out to dinner as sort of like a first date.
It was really random. He works like as a summer job at a circus. Oh, okay.
As the clown or?
Not like as a professional clown. He was sort of like just making the balloons and stuff.
Oh, yeah.
I just remember that being a topic of conversation, like him.
Yeah.
Telling me about how hard it was to make all these rogue animals.
Oh, yeah.
I would remember that in conversation.
He's good with his hands.
Yeah, maybe.
He was, like, he kept talking about these stupid giraffes that he had been, like, trying to figure out how to make.
Anyway, but dinner was pretty good. It was a little bit awkward, but, you know, like, I was pretty awkward too, so whatever.
First dates are.
But he kept asking me, like, weird sex-related questions. Not, like, in a creepy way, but.
Is it ever not in a creepy way?
It was more just, like, about, like, protection and stuff.
Oh, okay.
Big, like, robber theme going on at that dinner.
Oh, funny! Anyway, that was the end of the date, and then I didn't really hear from him.
Strange vibes.
Anyway, I was like, whatever, yeah, move on, on to the next. We had, like, mutual friends, which was how we got set up in the first place.
Okay, tricky.
I was.
talking to one of them at a party like a few weeks later and I was saying like yeah no it didn't it was like a fun time but it kind of just fizzled out whatever and apparently this is what my friend told me apparently he had.
Been so nervous for the date and.
So convinced that something was gonna happen between us that he had asked his mate before the date to like help him out and he had put on a condom.
Before and had been wearing it the entire time what.
I'm sorry what do you mean his friend helped him put it on He, like, yeah.
Must have consulted his friend about what to do.
And that was the advice he got given was, like, be prepared and use protection.
So he had been wearing a condom the whole time.
Oh, my God. Can you imagine? You're like, whoa.
I am so speechless.
And he's sitting at this table talking about freaking balloon animals, like.
wow okay ready to go hey man like men anyway i never think i'm gonna hear something.
I mean at least something was on i i worry.
About the education system at times did you.
Did you ever see him again no okay yeah if he was trying to lay down the mood i don't know if to hear.
Rubber freaking animals was the way to.
Do it i mean you know he's good with balloons latex was getting to his head he just was getting latex poisoning now i think about anything else.
I think it's time for the book of answers do you have a question related to the story in any way or do you want us to help you out.
I'm just that guy definitely thinks about that at least like once.
A week it keeps him up it keeps him up at night that has.
Kept him up like really quite a lot.
Was the friend who gave him this advice, like, did he ever do this and was he ever successful?
Yeah.
Okay. Okay.
That's a good one.
All right. Just tell Liv when to stop anytime.
Okay.
Stop.
Okay. And your answer is? To ensure the best decision be calm. Well, he was trying to be calm and collected and ready.
Yeah.
And that I think in my eyes means that the friend had done it before and it was successful.
Yeah.
And he was in his own echo chamber.
Yeah, he was in his own echo chamber. And we've seen how that can really cause harm to the world.
But I also think that, you know, this is perfect timing with Halloween and thinking about balloon animals.
Yeah.
I hope that you have a splendid week, Ava.
Yeah.
And we appreciate your story and your candor.
And do you know what? Let's use this as an educational thing.
Yeah.
You don't need to do that.
No. Superstars, that's all we have time for. Once again, you can follow us on In The Commons Podcast or In The Commons Pod, and you can also DM our producer, Coco, if you want to tell a story for our In The Field segment.
Do it.
And now it's time for hyper-specific goodbyes.
Goodbye to people that only have nine toes.
Goodbye to people who like to blow up balloons.
Goodbye to people... That was bad.
I know, by the way.
Goodbye to people that, you know, wish... Wish that they had a husband.
I don't know.
What?
Nobody wants this. Well, guys, thank you so much. We'll see you again next week.
Yeah, bye.
