Shownotes

Halloween is over and we’re ready to rank the internet’s best costumes. Kendall Jenner and Heidi Klum's parties were teeeeeming with stories and looks that actually defied the laws of physics and culture. Some celebrities went gory, some went film bro, and some require like 200 hours of screen time to understand.
Harry Styles might have won this year though, and the lore behind his rat costume actually involves a conspiracy theory?? I love how online this man is.
Then we're covering Sunrise on the Reaping. One of us is a true Hunger Games nerd and the other only quotes The Hunger Games But Better parody. The press tour is eeeeverywhere, we love Mckenna Grace & Joseph Zada on our FYPs so much.
So for those who AREN'T die hard fans but still want to see the movie, here's everything you need to know about the plot.
Turns out we’ve all been lied to about Haymitch for years??
And Kristen Bell told the world how Dax Shepard flirts with her. We’ve never heard of anyone flirting this way. We're convinced this couple cannot go a single press tour without saying something that makes everyone go... sorry, what?
Strap in superstars, we’ll see you in the comments xx

I've been temporarily ghosted before. It essentially is when you're talking to someone romantically... A few days past of no contact.

It's the cease of conversation.

Yeah. The longest I've been temporarily ghosted is about two months. And then I got.

I know, I know.

It is quite long, but please. Let me set the scene for you. Liv recently had a temporary ghost, but she had the funniest.

Sometimes I've got a way with words, right? And to be... I'm speaking directly into the camera.

Oh, yeah.

But to be a wordsmith, you have to... Be a little, you have to edge the line between cringe and cool.

That is not a sentence at all.

Yes, it was.

She was like, I've been ghosted for a couple of days. I believe he is going to reignite conversation on Halloween. Like she felt like it would happen around the Friday, Saturday.

No, I just had premonition.

Yeah, she's just like, yeah. And it kind of was true. Yeah. But so what was the thing you were going to say in relation to Halloween and the ghost?

I didn't realize you loved Halloween so much to the point where you cosplayed as a ghost. I did not say that. I did not say that.

Okay.

What I did, I took it to the boardroom, which.

Is the friends. Yeah.

And I tested it and I got feedback that was negative. Whereas if I got good feedback, I would have fucking said it.

What's up superstars. Welcome to in the comments. And today we're discussing everything that has happened on your for you page over the last week. We're talking about Sunrise on the Reaping.

Halloween.

Halloween. Specifically, Kendall Jenner's party.

Yes, there's some little bits of lore there.

A lot of couple costumes this year. Yes, a lot. So many were on my For You page.

Yes, heaps. And then also we're going to talk about Harry Styles and the bit of lore behind why he went as a New York City rat.

Yes. Yeah. I saw he went as himself. I'm a boker.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I'm a boker. Yeah, he did do that. I work in a bakery. Yeah, I work in a bakery. Sorry, that's the worst impersonation ever.

Also, Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell.

Oh, yes.

I feel like, you know, we want to look outwards.

Yes.

And see the red flags.

And learn from them. Yeah.

So, let's get into it.

But I do love Kristen Bell. Yeah.

Yeah.

Anyway, I'm Olivia.

I'm Olivia.

And today.

You're in the comments, I guess. Okay. Oh, hyper-specific hellos.

Oh, yeah.

I actually wrote some down today.

Oh, thank God. We haven't done that for a while. Yeah.

Hello to the people that have never used the horn in their car.

Because I don't drive.

Hello to the people that don't have a middle name. Do you have one?

Yeah. Do you have one? Correct. Oh. What's your middle?

Oh, I.

My middle name is so. No, yours is Rose.

Yeah. Yeah. Sort of like on the same wavelength of Rose. Emma. Close. Close. Eloise. Emily.

And then hello to the people that watched the last episode of The Office yesterday. I'm just going to get right into it.

I'm excited.

I'm going to get right into it, guys. So Halloween was over the weekend, in case you missed it, if you're living under a rock. So Kendall Jenner has had a Halloween party for at least the last five years because her birthday is around this time and she always does the Halloween party the night before Heidi Klum's party.

If there was one party I could go to, I reckon that would be the one to go.

It is an A-lister of A-lister parties. Like we're talking Leonardo DiCaprio. We're talking obviously Timothee Chalamet, Kylie Jenner. We're talking like, you know, Jacob Lordy now.

You're just naming who's dating the Kardashians. The like A-list celebrity is just who they're dating.

The big headline about this is that Jacob and Kendall had a couple's costume.

Yes.

He is very famous for having couple's costumes and And he always picks like quite tragic couples to do it with. So he, with Kai Gerber in 2020, he was Elvis and Priscilla.

Yes.

And then he was Jack Skellington, or is that how you say it? Skellington and Sally with Joey King in 2017. But something that you might find interesting. Okay. Kendall Jenner has never done a couple's costume with a romantic partner until now.

Now i reckon she is obsessed she's down bad she's so down bad she's down bad because also she'd be like yeah he's australian like she'd be like he's different.

Well she's dated an australian before ben simmons what were they dressed up as they were dressed up as an iconic couple in a movie called paris texas yeah And that was a movie directed by Wim Wender. Is that, are you, do you, are you a film?

I know the film. I know the film, but I don't know much about the director. Okay. So we'll go along with that.

Yes.

Number one, what I want to explain to everyone is they're all like, oh, this was totally Jacob's idea. Jacob totally did this.

Well, that is what I texted you.

Oh yeah.

You did text me that. Cause I was like, film bro.

And you're 1,000% correct because I've done some deep investigation. And on the 6th of November in 2025 on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Jacob Elordi directly spoke about this director and how he would love to work with him and it's some of his favourite work ever.

Interesting. Okay.

I met Wim Wenders two nights ago and hearing him speak about Walter Salas at the Academy Museum Gala was a really. I've only ever read and watched Wim Wenders' stuff. I've never sort of seen it. And to see him give this speech, which I would have read in a book of essays or something 10 years from now, was super profound.

They dressed as Jane and Travis from a movie called Paris, Texas. And it's actually known to be one of the most tragic relationships in the whole of Hollywood history. And that's actually quite interesting that they decided to go as that. Um, the, basically the premise of the movie is that they're in the, this massive toxic relationship. And then like Jane, um, and Travis have a child together. Travis leaves for four years and Jane feels like she can't raise the baby alone.

So she goes and gives it to Travis's brother and then she leaves the baby. But then the scene that they're dressed up as is Jane, like, has this tragic scene with Travis where he comes back and she's working at a peep show. Do you know what that is? It's like this, like, it's like a one-way mirror place where men can pay, where they can see the girl but the girl can't see them. So he goes, he finds her at the peep show and he, she doesn't know it's him but he knows it's her and she's dressed, they're dressed in the costumes that Kendall and Jacob are dressed as.

Yeah.

And basically he then starts like saying all of like the whole story of their lives. And she begins to realize, oh my God, that's my husband on the other side.

Kind of like the scene in the Odyssey.

Sort of, but way more tragic.

There's that veil between them.

Yeah, true, true, but way more tragic because it's not like it ends up happily ever after. They don't end up together. He ends up going off but just organising for the son to get back to the girl, like to Jane.

Oh, wow.

So it's just a weird couple's costume.

Yeah, and for people who haven't seen it, Kendall is dressed in this pink sort of like furry material dress.

Yeah, mini dress, yeah.

And it's got sort of like sleeves and then she's got a blonde bob And then Jacob is in sort of like a classic, sort of like an oversized suit. He has a red cap on. I also wondered whether this costume was to hide his hair.

Well, he's got like a mullet.

Does he have a mullet in the film though? No. So I'm like, was this part of like Jacob's got a mullet for a new role or something?

Maybe, but I feel like maybe he kind of does, but I don't know.

Like the photos, his hair looks shaved.

Yeah, true actually.

Yeah.

Anyway, it was a thousand percent Jacob's idea. He's literally spoken about the director of this movie and how much he loves it. Kendall looked really good and I honestly like when she has blonde hair.

Yeah, same. And you know what? It was a very simple outfit.

Yeah.

I mean, obviously they have a lot of money to spend and I feel like they just went sort of more for their kind of... Low key, like they feel like a low key couple. They want to keep it chill.

I do miss the days where they went full out though.

Me too. And I actually heard this take about Halloween, how it's meant to be more DIY, I guess, for your like everyday person. But then now people are hiring like makeup artists and doing all these things for Halloween. I'm like, we've kind of lost that. I know.

Producer Coco sent us a video of a girl that went viral last night where she was dressed as an alien.

Yeah.

And she was just a quintessential alien. But she was pissed off because everyone kept coming over to her going, who are you?

Who are you?

And she was like, I'm just an alien. Like, I don't need to be a character. I'm just an alien.

You're a general alien.

Yeah, I'm a general alien.

Can I tell you something?

Everybody comes up to me and they go, what are you? Baby, I'm fucking painted blue and you don't know I'm an alien? Alien parentheses general. But I reckon, do you know what? I predict that like that movie might have been one of the first movies that Jacob showed Kendall.

I agree. Yeah.

And it's like his favorite movie.

Yeah.

I also think as well, because like Kylie and Kendall, like obviously we know Kendall's interests stem from old cars, kind of like fitness, architecture. She loves, you know, designing things. I'm not sure if she's in, like, the film space. I think she is, bro.

She loves, like, she also is, like, a book talk girl.

Yeah, she is. But I feel like Kylie and her would have this, like, I wonder if they've, like, come together and been like, hey, we've got to lock in, like, girls weekend. We've got to watch all the film bro films. True. Like, they've thought we've got to do it. Moving right along. Yes.

Harry Styles.

Yes.

He had a great weekend over Halloween.

Yeah, lots of performing.

Yeah, lots of performing. He always does Halloween. at Madison Square Garden when he's performing. And for the night one, he went as Elvis Presley. And then he changed into his 16-year-old self where he was auditioning for X Factor and performed the song that he auditioned with, which.

Was so cute. I love whoever came up with that idea.

Oh, so smart. Night two, he went as the NYC Pizza Rat. which we will get into.

Yes, I don't know that. It was really funny with his rat costume. He got too hot in the rat costume, so he took the rat costume off and then just had a T-shirt that said, I'm a rat.

Oh, that's funny.

Wait, that's so funny. I didn't even see that. You didn't see that? No.

No, man.

Yeah.

Yeah, I didn't. I only saw I'm a baker.

And then Zoe Kravitz was there for both nights too. She went for a classic devil costume on night one. Yeah.

Ooh.

With Harry's mum.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And then on night two she went as a plastic bag. It's known to be a New York City bag.

Yeah, yeah.

So I'm saying it. That's a couple's costume.

Oh, yeah, for sure. Yeah. I like the ones where it's not that obvious.

Yeah, same. And I liked that. The plastic bag was kind of fun. I didn't know the lore of the New York City Pizza Rat.

Do you know it?

No.

New York City Pizza Rat lore. It runs so deep and in ways that I could have never imagined. And Harry Styles has brought this back up for us.

Okay.

So it all started in 2015. A rat was seen in the New York City subway.

Okay. You're being so serious right now.

I'm so serious. This is so serious. It was seen, this small rat was seen with a huge New York City pizza slice and taking it down the stairs. And then a guy called Matt Little filmed it and put it on the internet and it went viral.

Right.

Everyone was saying that it was such a good representation of what it's like to live in New York, just the hustle and how you have to work so hard. And this little rat was like, you know, just taking this pizza that's three times its size. New York City is hard, but it's not for the weak, it's for the strong.

Well, their rats are like dogs.

Yeah.

They're big. But it goes viral, right?

Yeah.

And then people are like.

Any rat's dream.

Yeah, any rat's dream. Everyone's hashtagging pizza rat. So that's what Harry Styles was dressed up as for his Halloween costume at Madison Square Garden. Now, that's one bit of it.

Only one.

It starts getting crazier because people start seeing more and more rat activity in the subway.

Okay.

And then next, like a few weeks later, selfie rat.

A selfie rat?

Yeah.

What does that mean? A rat takes a selfie.

Another... Viral video.

Okay.

Where someone's filming a rat that crawls onto a sleeping man in the subway and goes onto his phone and takes a selfie.

There's no way.

Selfie rat. That happens. No, what do you mean? He takes a selfie. His phone was open and the rat takes a selfie on top of this man.

So he just happens to be on camera. Like the camera settings are open.

Well, he must accidentally take a selfie.

Oh, my God. God, rats have strong palms.

Yeah.

It was 2015. Everyone was like, holy shit, these rats, they're getting smart. They're taking selfies. They're eating pizza. And then the man that was sleeping and that had the rat.

Was dressed as a rat.

No, that had the rat upon him to take the selfie.

Was Harry Styles.

Was an actor called Eric Yearwood. And he said he was paid $ 200 to participate in a staged rat expose. Huh? Where it takes a selfie on his sleeping body.

Like a trained rat?

Yeah. What?

So the whole thing was a hoax. And a performance artist.

God, slow day for that actor.

A performance artist called Zardulu.

Okay. Want to say that again?

Who looks like this. Oh my, I'm scared.

Is that the actor?

That's the performance artist that staged Selfie Rat.

But is that a person? It looks fake.

Yeah, it's a person. Scary ass.

So Pizza Rat is real.

So the Selfie Rat was fake. It took 10 to 12 takes.

Yeah.

And then it was by this girl called Zardulu.

Okay.

And I don't know if I'm saying that right. And she's an anonymous performance artist who says... that she likes to call herself a myth maker. So she's kind of like Banksy but before performance art.

Banksy for rats.

And then everyone was like, oh, my God, this was fake. And then Pizza Rat became questioned because everyone was like, is Pizza Rat real? And then people did an investigation and found out that the guy, the actor that was doing the sleeping selfie, also went to the same comedy school as the guy that took the video of Pizza Rat.

So.

pizza rat is this massive thing where no one knows if it was real or not the guy that took the video of pizza rat says no i don't know the man that did the selfie rat yeah but they both went to the same school and no one knows to this day if pizza rat was real or staged like.

I think they probably gave him a piece of pizza the rat it was so perfect looking yeah i know well yeah But also I wouldn't be surprised, like New York's pretty dirty.

This woman is the woman that's behind Harry Styles. It's like she's got stockings on her head and then she's got a beard but she's got pink hair and then she's got fake eyes.

Yeah, contact lenses.

And then she's got really bushy eyebrows and she's wearing a pink shirt and then she's also holding like this wand that's a rat.

And the rat is eating its own tail. It comes into a full circle.

So this is the woman behind Harry Styles' 2026 Halloween costume.

He should have just dressed up as that.

I wonder what she's doing now.

Liv Coleman, what are some of your favourite Halloween costumes been this year? I've loved the amount of rose toys I've seen. Oh, so many rose toys. I think... Anything from girls, there's been a lot of rose toys. Oh, yeah. There was, I thought, I mean, I sent this to Coco, actually, the Zoom call announcing the five new episodes. Had, like, two faces in it. And all the ones of Marnie.

Oh yeah. There's so many girls of like just wearing their iconic, like the blue dress, which I thought was funny as, but honestly I think people did well this year with Halloween. I didn't love Heidi Klum's.

What?

I thought it was incredible.

I don't know.

It's very like gory and she does that a lot, but I feel like usually she does it with a bit more of like an ensemble or like There's, like, more to it. The veins popping out were her own veins. Ew. Like, she got someone to, like, study and scan the veins. Oh, my God. That's, like, Wuthering Heights.

Ew. Oh, yes.

Yeah, they did that for Margot Robbie's. Yes.

I was in the car thinking about it this morning because I got an Uber to work.

Whoops. She was late today. She was doing her makeup on set.

And I was like, oh, God, I hated Heidi Klum's costume. But then I was like, why did I hate it? And it's because it disgusted me. I felt, like, a visceral reaction to it.

Yeah.

And then I was like. That is Halloween. And that changed my whole perspective on it.

I was like, I love it. You know what I loved when she was a peacock? Yeah. And all the actors just went, oh. I like this year so much more than the peacock. I think, you know what, I found the worm. I thought it was so, the worm was great. I thought this was so funny. The way she kept poking her tongue out.

I mean, I like that she commits to the bit.

Yeah, she commits to it.

And you know what?

It's so good. It shows that hot girls can do it all.

And it's incredibly creative. A very creative costume. Oh, totally.

I love that it's also low-key not culturally relevant.

Like, she always just comes with something completely random.

Yeah, it's weird. It's like, what? Yeah. You know what it weirdly reminded me of? You know The Substance? Yeah. That really gory film. Like, when we saw the close-ups of all the weird, like, bubbles and, like, veins and skin. I never watched it.

My favourite was Alex Consori when she went as The Thumb.

There was a lot of, like, ligaments this year. Yeah. So the Hunger Games press tour for the new Sunrise on the Reaping has been happening. It's everywhere, bro. That's all I'm saying. I'm a big fan. McKenna Grace and Joseph Zeta are sort of the front runners of this press tour. They've been to Sydney.

But you've read the books, right? Like you know the lore.

I know the lore. So if you haven't read the books and you're maybe not part of the Hunger Games universe.

I'm a fan, but I don't know the lore. I've not read the books. I don't know the ins and outs.

So I want to step back from the press tour and focus on the movie itself. Here is everything you need to know. So the book takes place 24 years before the original Hunger Games. Yes. So that means Katniss wasn't born. Peter wasn't born. But Hamish, he is 16 years old.

Wow.

He is from District 12.

Yes.

His family is very poor. His father died in the mines. And he is also part of this sort of like food rationing program. which means that he gets funded from the capital, which also means that his name is in the reaping 20 times. That's like a minor detail, but it's also important to know in terms of why his name is in it so much. Plus they are taking four tributes from each district instead of two.

So it's 48 people.

Because it is a quarter quell. So it's the 50th Hunger Games. Snow, who you meet in the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, He has just risen into power and he is now President Snow. So he's still fairly young. It's not like the old guy you see at the Hunger Games catching fire period. He's just risen into his sort of power. Okay, right. An important bit of context here is that Lenore is part of the kind of covey crowd, which is also Lucy Gray's world. So like the singers and the very kind of like folk people.

Okay, right.

That is Haymitch's girlfriend, right?

Okay.

She believes. that the Hunger Games can end. Haymitch does not. So he's very sort of pessimistic when it comes to the games. Like a sunrise, it will happen again. It's inevitable. Like the sun will always rise again. And it's the same thing as the Hunger Games. He believes that it can never be stopped. That's where the name comes from.

Interesting.

I thought it's quite like a symbolic, because everyone's like sunrise on the reefing, sorry. Come to reaping day. Everyone's nervous, right? Yeah. The four tributes are Luella, Maisley, Wyatt and Woodbine. When these names get called, Woodbine freaks out. He panics. A bunch of commotion starts. Hamish needs to protect his girlfriend, Lenore.

So she gets called?

She doesn't. But I think a bunch of commotion starts. He gets shot in front of everyone, in front of the reaping, and Hamish goes to protect his girlfriend, Lenore. Now, while he's doing that, they see him and they go, fine, you're Woodbine's replacement. So Hamish, out of really bad luck, gets called up. Now, a really important detail here is the Capitol erases the footage and stages it so it looks like no one died, nothing happened. And these are your four tributes. Obviously, time is going forward. We know that the tributes all go and they sort of get their makeovers. As you know, part of the process before the Hunger Games is that there's a parade. And the tributes are on chariots and they're driven by horses.

And this is like when Katniss lights on fire.

But yeah, and she like looks at Snow like.

Yeah, I'm going to get ya!

Anyway, so... Basically on this day, tragically, one of the horses freaks out because there's so much like fire and like fireworks. Luella, who is part of District 12, which for Hamish, that's like his little sister. That's what she embodies. She dies. Spoiler alert. So Hamish drags Luella's body in front of Snow and he gives like a slow condescending clap and he's like, I've got you. And so, again, the Capitol erases the footage. Seems like nothing happened. They find a replacement called Lulu, different girl that looks like Luella but is a different person.

I've heard it's gone viral that the movie was four hours and they've chopped it in half. This is so detailed, right, which is important because the movie that we're going to get was meant to be four hours. Like the actual cut, they had four hours of footage and then they've chopped it in half to two.

Yeah. And that's why, like, as I'm explaining it, it seems like I'm going through a lot of details. But when it comes to why Jennifer Lawrence, why Josh Hutchinson is like in this film.

Yeah.

It's very important to all this context I'm giving now. Wow. It's so interesting. So also for context, Maisley is an important figure because she owns the Mockingjay pin.

Oh.

So yeah, Maisley has the Mockingjay pin, which is obviously an important symbol to the rebellion and Katniss later is obviously gifted that. Interesting. Yeah. Now, you know that in the Hunger Games, every tribute is given a mentor.

Yes.

And the mentors are based on people that survived previous games.

Yes.

And that means once you get in these games and you become a survivor, you never leave it. Like, you know, that I kind of quote, once you get on this train, you never get off. Yeah. Which was in the first Hunger Games movie. It's because you can never escape this world. So there is no surviving mentors from District 12 because no one from District 12 has ever won. Mags and Wyrus are Haymitch's mentors, which you will know from Catching Fire.

Yeah.

And through them, he's introduced to BT. Now, BT was also a survivor of the Games and he's very, like, politically motivated.

Okay.

And as sort of punishment, his son, Ampert, is put into the Games. And so he goes to Haymitch. I'm going to create a plan to ruin these games and you're going to protect my son. So they kind of are enveloped in this plan to like set explosives.

Similar to what Katniss.

Exactly. Wow. I'm getting goosebumps. So this is where it all begins. So as you know, with these things, we get to the games. Everything is deadly. Your main people die. Maisley and Hamish end up forming sort of an unlikely alliance. Yes. And they discover a force field. And long story short, without revealing too much spoilers of who specifically dies and how, Silke Sharp, she throws an axe at the force field, which she doesn't know is there. Hamish is aware of that.

And she ends up dying because the axe bounces back off the force field and hits her. So Hamish is sort of declared the winner. Obviously before this, he had tried to blow up stuff. the capital throughout all this time when he's rebelling, erases every piece of footage. So at the end of the games, Hamish is posed as this selfish, arrogant person and all of his rebellious activity is completely just like didn't happen. So why is Jennifer Lawrence and Josh and Woody Harrelson in this new film?

It's because at the end of The Sunrise and the Reaping, there's an epilogue. And it flashes forward when Hamish, Katniss and Peter are all old and Hamish finally tells his story of what really happened. Because in The Hunger Games Catching Fire, there is an important scene where Katniss and Peter watch other games from previous years.

Yeah.

And they look at Hamish's footage and they think that he's just always been a selfish guy and a bit of a drunk. But it turns out that he had this whole backstory that no one knew.

And Oh, my God. Well, I watched and read this insane thing on TikTok last night, and there were some questions that I was like in the comments that I thought you could answer for us.

Yeah, of course.

Because Liv is such a fan. There was some lore that I would like you to tell me what this means. Someone commented, and this got 18,000 likes, I hate that the movies don't have Madge. It ruins the connection between Katniss and– Maisley?

Yeah, I've say Maisley.

What, like, what does that mean?

So the pin, the Mockingjay pin originally belonged to Madge's aunt. Okay. And that was gifted to Katniss's mother. Oh. And so the mother and the aunt were close. And that was why it was sort of like a hand-me-down. Now in the Hunger Games... I don't know if you remember, Katniss conveniently finds this Mockingjay symbol at like a flea market.

Yeah.

And she picks it up and she takes it with her. Yeah. But the original pin has so much more significance because it was passed down. And so Maisley and like Madge, her like family connection there, it was gifted to her before the games as a symbol of like a rebellion. And then it was passed through generations.

And they just decided, no, we won't include that.

I think because... Perhaps if they knew they were going to do the sunrise and the reaping, they might have kept that detail in. But I think in the original Hunger Games, it didn't seem like a big detail. Okay. But yeah, the whole symbol of it was that it was passed through generations through District 12. And it's always been like a symbol of like hope for them. And it's not just a random thing that became a symbol.

It was always there. Yeah. Okay, that's so interesting. I love that.

And then another comment was, it's the way we all went, oh, we know the story already, only to read the book and realise we too fell for the capital editing Hamish's games and showing us what they wanted. When you're reading all of the first Hunger Games books, you as a reader, because I haven't read the books, are under the impression that Hamish is a bit of a dick.

Yeah, so he's always posed as, like, the arrogant, selfish guy. Okay, right. And I also think this was part of, like, maybe Suzanne Collins' future planning, but Sunrise on the Reaping wasn't written when she was writing The Hunger Games.

Interesting.

So that's why everyone, like, commends Woody Harrelson's acting because it's like, wow, he played this, like, perfect sort of drunk and also like a guy that was very closed off without this prior knowledge of his games. So it was all sort of like intuitive. But yeah, basically that comment suggests that when they're watching specifically that scene in the Hunger Games Catching Fire, when they're watching the scene of Haymitch's games, it looks like he's just a selfish guy that won and killed a bunch of people.

And it's the same in the book.

Yeah. But in real life, the Capitol had edited everything. So it's like you as a reader are sort of like Penem's like citizen because you don't realize what's happening.

One more thing that I'll end on, and this is like less of a question, but I read someone's comment and this got 139,000 likes. Fun fact, alcohol consumption over many years can make your curly hair go away and make it flat, which I did a bit of research into. And it's not totally medically correct, but chronic alcohol use can dehydrate your scalp and weaken hair structure, which is why the curl pattern Hamish has in this new movie is more prominent than when he's older.

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have been dating for 19 years. Now they have built sort of a public image about, Blunt honesty, like having very dark humour.

I think they're trying to go for a couple of the people, like they're the normal people, but you're not.

Exactly. And I think a lot of people are either like a huge fan of that because they're showing that they're not a perfect couple.

Yeah.

And then some people are like, no, this is actually a bit strange.

Yeah, it is a bit strange.

So I've sort of created a bit of a timeline of some controversial moments.

Please tell me everything they've said.

I will.

Weird.

And look, I am a fan of Armchair Expert. I do appreciate that there is no one like a celebrity that can get another celebrity to open up. And Dax Shepard was the first to do it. And now Jake Shane's doing it for our generation. So I commend him for that. But man, he says some things sometimes. Tell me about them.

Okay. So this was in December 2017. He told Us Weekly, we don't believe in the one. We don't believe in the fairy tale. We are opposites and it has taken a tremendous amount of work and therapy for us to coexist. So a fun fact about their relationship, they have admitted that they started therapy as they began dating. So they've always, from the beginning, seemed to have some issues.

Yeah.

That one's not that bad.

No, I don't think. But the thing is, not believing in the one when you're directly talking about a partner you've had for 19 years feels maybe just a bit disrespectful.

Yeah.

Because you have been together for so long. So it's like you don't have to believe in soulmates, but maybe have a. different wording of it yeah like be less like like what if your boyfriend that you were obsessed with and loved and married to and had kids with was like I don't really believe in.

The one do you know what it is though is that he's the one that's saying a lot of this stuff yeah and in their relationship yeah Kristen Bell is obviously the way cooler one oh yeah so I'm like sure Dax you don't have to believe in the one but who are you gonna get that's any better than her And I think she would be feeling that too.

It's like whatever, brah. Like go find better.

Another thing that I read is like because she's very Christian, right, and he has different sort of morals and like I don't think he's very religious as himself. I didn't know that she was. Yeah, so that was actually one of the like quotes he had said in the past is that like she's a very genuine person, very funny and cares about other people and he said that they don't believe they're very compatible. and i was like okay so you're basically just admitting you're a shit bloke like you're not a good person but i'll give another example so this was january 2019 on an off camera with sam jones shepherd admitted he initially doubted whether he wanted to be with bell direct quote here so he said i

wasn't fearful i would lose her i wasn't certain i wanted to be with someone like that just.

For context, Dax Shepard was in a very, very, very long-term relationship for his young adulthood, and he was an alcoholic. He has been sober for a while now. But he was in a relationship with a woman, and they were in an open relationship. And then he broke up with her and then publicly dated Kate Hudson, was obsessed with Kate Hudson, broke up with Kate Hudson, and then started dating Kristen.

Yep. Yeah. Which is interesting. There might have been a few people in between. Yeah.

But I guess it would be quite a change.

For sure. Yeah.

Because Kristen Bell isn't necessarily screaming party girl.

No, she's not. Again, I think that's why he said with her maybe more like Christian sort of morals. Right. Okay. March 2019. Shepard told USA Today, I would argue that this relationship was the hardest of any I've ever had to get into a productive flow. He added, We're so opposite. It's crazy. We started off in therapy, which is what I mentioned before. But again, like not believing in soulmates and then having this like repeated thing, which is maybe just an inside joke for them. Like they could very well go home and be like, babe, we're going to be in the headlines.

Yeah.

I don't know. Maybe that's part of the humor.

No, dude, I actually wouldn't put it past them actually.

Yeah. October, 2025. So she posted for their 12th anniversary quoting Dax. So he said, I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I'm heavily incentivised to kill you, I never would. I remember when this happened. Yeah, there was so much commotion and rightly so.

Yeah, it's interesting because like I, if you've listened to his podcast, he says stuff like that 24-7. I just don't.

Get why no one's media trained him. Maybe that's part of his persona. They probably tried. Yeah, they did probably try. I don't think he cares.

But that's not, well, she posted it.

I know. Well, that's, yeah, you're right. Most recently, which I'm sure you've seen, October, 2026, an armchair expert, Bell said Dax flirts with her by complimenting other women.

Yeah.

So like he specifically waitresses.

Yeah.

In front of her.

She said waiters and waitresses, but I'm like.

We'll be at dinner and he'll say to the waiter or waitress, he'll go, wow, you have incredible eyelashes, gorgeous eyes, great, great job.

And then.

This is a triggering thing.

That's flirting with her. But that's flirting with me because he just made someone else feel good. I remember looking at the reactions of the other people on the pod, which is from like the Nobody Wants This cast, right?

Yeah.

And they all looked very suspicious of it.

And she, like, offered up that information too.

Yeah, she was very, and, like, so, yeah, her explanation was, but that's flirting with me because he just made someone else feel good. And I get that, but, like, within. No, but, like, obviously being kind to other people, but not within the extent of.

Did she say flirt with other people?

But, yeah, she said that, like. She misunderstands the word flirt.

Do you think she just accidentally said flirt and meant compliments?

Like that's, no, but no, she said that's flirting with me. With her. By complimenting other people.

Oh, so maybe like, yeah, okay. Okay. Maybe she's really butchered that.

Because again, maybe it aligns with her. Like she is a genuine person. Like she does come across as very kind. So, I mean, we obviously don't know her. I don't doubt that Dax being kind to other people like is a green flag for him. Yeah.

Yeah.

I think she misused the word flirting. That's an interesting way of looking at it.

But I think maybe if she explained it like, oh, you know, I love when he compliments and helps older women.

Or like even my mum, he compliments my mother when he comes over to our house and like he says, you look beautiful today, Geraldine.

Yeah.

And that feels like it's flirting because he's showing me.

His good side. Yeah. Yeah. Now it's time for our In the Field segment. We have a special guest who's going to tell us a crazy story and we also have the book of answers where she's going to ask a question related to a story at the end. So stay tuned for that.

We are calling Laura and she's going to tell us a crazy story. I'm excited. I love this shit.

I love In the Field. Me too.

I love it.

Hello.

Hi, Laura.

How are you?

Hi, I'm well.

How are you guys?

Oh, we're so excited to hear what you have to tell us. Why don't you just take the floor? Oh, I just dribbled everywhere. That's how keen I am.

Yeah, she's so keen.

Oh, no.

Oh, gosh.

I know. I'm salivating.

Okay.

I have to tell you this story about a girl who used to work with me.

She only left the company this week.

And it kind of got around of this event that happened to her last weekend, right?

So.

This gorgeous girl, she's really lovely, but she's just got balls, is called Sandra. So her parents went on a weekend away without her to Tassie.

Yep, beautiful.

And they went to see some family friends. Yeah, gorgeous scenery, vibes. And they. Met one of their sons who is the same age as this girl and they thought oh god he's lovely.

Come back to.

Melbourne Sandra hasn't met this guy or this family anything they come back to Melbourne and they say oh we met this guy who's the son of our friends you know we think you guys would hit it off He's really gorgeous. We actually got you his, like, Instagram or whatever.

I love how they're matchmaking.

Yeah, it's cute.

Yeah, fully, fully.

So far, so good. Yeah.

Yeah, right?

Really lovely.

Yeah. So she said, oh, okay, you know, I'll have a look.

I'll do a little stalk.

Does he live in Tasmania, though, and she in Melbourne?

Okay.

Yeah, yeah.

Bit of a long distance.

She lives in Melbourne. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

So anyway, she does a bit of a stalk and then she goes, oh, he is gorgeous, 10 out of 10.

Like, I'm quite into this. So she slides into his DMs.

Nice.

And says, oh, you know, I think you met my parents. Like, da-da-da-da, they start talking. They're talking for maybe like a day or two. Like, not very long, but, you know, they're talking.

Long enough, yeah. Yeah, long enough, right?

And when it's your soulmate, yeah, honestly, who cares about the distance? Throw it all out.

That's right, right? Yeah.

Leave it all on the dance floor.

Yeah.

And she did, and she did. So she said to him, she said, oh, next time I'm in Tassie, like said by no one.

Ever, next time I'm in Tassie.

Yeah.

We should catch up yeah right and he goes oh yeah oh my god.

I feel like i know what's gonna happen here.

Yeah he was like yeah yeah we should so she makes up and he can i also just say like i don't want to out him but he does not live in hobart this is like regional tassie like this is not yeah he's like a farmer.

Yeah he's on the land yeah yeah yeah.

So so she said oh i'm actually going for a girl's weekend this weekend to a regional town your town where where you live which was not true she was like yeah i'm actually i'm going on this girls weekend and he went oh okay like great let's catch up whatever.

That's weird that you've only mentioned it now how convenient exactly.

And this was literally like As in they started talking, say, on the Monday, and she's like, oh, like funnily enough, this weekend.

That is so funny. That is so insane. That is insane. That's a thought that we have. Like we all have that thought. We all go, ooh, I could do this. But then you say to yourself, no, I'm not going.

Reign it in. Reign it in.

That's right, yeah. So, no, so it gets worse. He said, oh, okay, great. She obviously is not having a girls' weekend at this, like, location. So she actually shares with her family, her whole family... This plan.

No. What she's told him. Well, they infiltrated that.

No, but the family's going to blow up.

They were already a part of it. They had a toe in the, like, whatever that's saying.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

We get you.

Her dad ended up saying, okay, listen, like, you've gone into this. I'm going to back you. I'm going to go with you to Tasmania. And we're going to go on, like, a father-daughter trip, right?

Okay. Dad of the year award. Yeah, obviously.

It's gone from a girl's trip to a dad and daughter trip for the daughter to.

Go and see a man that she spent two days talking to and that the parents were like, yeah, he's cute. But the dad hadn't met the guy.

The dad had met the guy, yes, but the guy didn't know that the dad was coming.

It's this whole, right?

So it's this whole thing. And so they had at this point, they decided the day, the location, like this pub, probably like, I don't know, like some regional like little pub, like, and so it was decided, right? So then her dad said, all right, that night when you go out with him on this date, I'll just catch up with my friend who I know there or whatever, or That's.

This guy's dad.

Double date.

But only two people in the town.

Yeah. So I'll leave you to it.

So they organise this whole thing. They buy tickets. It gets to Friday when they're going. And I think she was going to see him, like, on the Saturday or the Sunday. So before they get on the plane, this guy ghosts her.

Fully.

No.

Like, nothing.

No messages.

Oh, my God. No, like, unanswered questions. Not, like, the chat just dropped off. Like, just mid-sentence gone.

Like a block?

No, like, she would have been, like, it wouldn't have made sense for him to stop the conversation there.

Yeah. Correct.

Correct.

Okay.

Right.

Um.

And so she tells her dad this and they decide, like, together, they're still getting on the plane.

Like, he'll come back.

Like, he must be busy. He's probably busy.

He's probably just riding a horse.

Oh, baby's phone died.

Yeah, yeah.

Yeah, yeah.

So they get on this and they get.

On this plane. They go to Tassie. He's ghosted her.

She goes to the pub.

He's not there she still goes to the pub oh yeah she goes to the pub he's not there she waits for a little bit and then goes and crushes her dad and his mates dinner and that and that's it and they just had a father-daughter weekend and then they came home.

And she's never heard from the guy ever again ever again what about what about her parents because her parents know his parents I don't know.

I didn't get, well, she left the company.

I haven't got to that point.

Of the story yet. Oh my God.

Do you know what? What a cool dad.

What a cool dad. I think the dad's the hero of the story.

The dad is the coolest dad I've ever heard of. And, like, what a king.

What a king. I think book of answers time.

Yeah, let's do book of answers. Let's ask what's happened to the guy.

I reckon.

Yeah, I reckon. So what's a yes or no?

Will this girl ever hear from the guy again, I reckon? Because, you know, they always come back. Yeah, yeah.

Laura, do you want to ask it one more time for the cameras?

Yeah.

Will this girl ever hear from this guy again? All right. Tell me when to stop. I'm going to run my hands through the book. Do I tell you when to stop? Yeah.

I can feel your hands running over the book.

Kinky.

Stop.

Bet on it.

Bet on it. Bet on it. So she will. I reckon he's probably thinking, oh, it's fine that she hasn't heard from me. She's on a girls weekend.

Who cares?

This is worse than jujitsu guy.

I think this is.

Yeah.

I was just going to say he was probably playing jujitsu.

Yeah.

He might even be the same person.

Well, yeah. You heard it here first.

He's getting around.

Oh, my God. That's crazy. Thank you for that story.

Thank you so much, Laura.

I love it.

That's okay.

Guys, just maybe don't buy a flight.

Until you've met them. No, yeah. Correct.

Even a few times.

It's not worth it.

It'll always let you down. Or make them buy the flight.

Yeah, they should come to you first.

Yeah, they should come to you or they should buy the flight. Well, guys, we've made it to the end yet again. And God, wasn't that explainer of the Hunger Games really good? I'm enthralled by it. It really rocked my world. I'm serious.

Yeah, and you know what? We're going to go watch it together.

We are going to go watch it together.

Really?

Oh, yeah. I would love that.

Not after all that.

Come on.

Oh, my God. I mean, I've spoiled everything for you. I can't wait. And then Pizza Rat.

Oh, my gosh.

Oh, my God. So many rats, including the many guys we've spoken about. I know.
