Quite similar to the English version to ring someone. Ja ringer defter jobbet. I'll call you after work. Can du ringa me imorron? Can you call me tomorrow Athemta to pick up or get Athemta Athemta means to go somewhere, get someone or something and bring them with you. For example you can hemta your children from school, hemta a package or hemta something from another room.

Ja hämtar barnen på skolan. I'm picking up the children from school. Can du hämta min jacka? Can you get my jacket at lemna to leave or drop off Atlemna At lemna can mean to leave something somewhere or to take someone or something somewhere and leave them there. It is often useful to think of hemta and lemna as opposites.

Ja lämnar barnen på skolan klockan åtta. I drop the children off at school at eight. Du kan lämna nyckeln på bordet. You can leave the key on the table. At glömma to forget Atglma Atglma means to forget. You can forget a thing, forget to do something or forget information. Ja glömde min telefon hemma.

I forgot my phone at home. Glöm inte at ringa me. Don't forget to call me At venta to wait at venta. At venta means to wait. If you are waiting for someone or something, we normally use ventapo, but ventapo can also mean to wait on or at a place. Ja ventar po bussen. I'm waiting for the bus or I'm waiting on the bus.

Ventapo may wait for me. Now you have five new verbs, let's move on to five nouns It prob a problem It problem It problem is a problem. This word is very similar to English, so it's an easy one to remember. The plural is problem. So we say et problem flea problem Viar et problem. We have a problem Di Inga problem No problem En sock a thing En sock En sock means a thing.

It's a very useful word when you don't know or don't need to say the exact name of something. But sok can also be used when you're talking about a topic, idea or something you want to say. The plural is saker. En sak flera saker. Jag måste köpa några saker. I have to buy a few things. Jag vill säga en sak.

I want to say something. En fråga. A question en fråga. En fråga means a question. The verb at fråga means to ask, so these two words are useful to learn together. The plural is frågor en fråga flera frågor. Jag har en fråga. I have a question. Can jagla en fråga? Can I ask a question? Et mål a goal.

Et mål. Et mål can mean a goal, a target or something you want to achieve. Or a goal in football for exemp. The plural is mål. So ett mål flera mål. Mitt mål är att prata svenska varje dag. My gol is to speak swedish every day. Jag har ett nytt mål. I have a new goal. En list. A list. En list. En list means a list.

You can write a list, make a list or have a list of things you need to do. The plural form is listor. En list flera listor. Jag skriver en lista. I'm writing a list. Jag har en lista med saker jag måste göra. I have a list of things I have to do. Five verbs and five nouns check. Now let's add five adjectives.

Remember adjectives change depending on the thing you're describing. Viktig Important. Viktig. Viktig means important. We can say en viktig sak och ett viktigt möte and viktig saker. Och det här är viktigt. This is important. Det är en viktig fråga. It's an important question. Difficult hard. Svor means that something is difficult or hard.

We can use it when something requires a lot of effort or is difficult to understand or do. Svenska is svårt ibland. Swedish is difficult sometimes. Det var en svår fråga att svara på it was a difficult question to answer Uptagen Busy Uptagen Uptagen means busy. If you don't have time because you're working, studying or doing something else you can say that you're uptagen.

A restroom can also be uptagen if there's someone in there. Joegen just nu. I'm busy right now. Alla toiletter are uptagna. All restrooms are busy or occupied Irriterad annoyed or irritated. Irritab. Irritad means annoyed or irritated. You can be irritated because of a person, a sound, a situation, or something else that bothers you.

If you are irritated with another person, use the preposition irritated poelite irriterad I'm a little annoyed. Han bleve irritarad po me. He got annoyed with me. Letad relieved Letad means relieved. You feel letad when you have been worried or stressed about something and then realize that everything is okay.

Let means light or easy, so let is kind of like lighted lighted Yar so let I'm so relieved. She was relieved when she got the answer. And finally we have five more useful words. These are small words, but you'll hear them all the time in Swedish. Perhaps you even recognise some of them. We use it when something is possible but we're not sure.

Just like the English word consists of may and be can and h literally means can happen. Can you can pronounce this can or can it's up to you Kanche Comer imoron Maybe I'll come tomorrow De Kanche Feshiant Maybe it's too late Ien Again Yen Yen means again. We use it when something happens one more time.

It's a synonym to en gong til, but easier to say since it's just one word. The G is soft like a Y because it's followed by an E Candusia yen Can you say that again? Ya will see filmen yen I want to watch the movie again Riadan Already Radan Redan means already. We use it when something has happened earlier than now and sometimes earlier than we expected.

Yah redan ate it I have already eaten Are du redan hemma? Are you home already? Snort Soon Snort Snort means soon it means that something is going to happen after a short amount of time. Snort is further away than strax but closer in time than sen or sienare busen comer snart The bus is coming soon Vises snart See you soon Ibland sometimes Ibland Ibland means sometimes something happens occasionally but not always Ibland is right in between ofta often and cellan rarely Ibland Tranarja pomoron sometimes I work out in the morning Ya etland I'm tired sometimes And there we go You just learned or maybe reviewed twenty useful Swedish words five verbs, five nouns, five adjectives, and five bonus words.

The goal isn't necessarily to remember all twenty words immediately. Pick a few that are new to you and try to use them this week. As always, I'll create a worksheet for you so that you can practice using them. To access all of the study materials, join Learn Swedish for only $10 per month.
