What if the biggest problem with your AI-generated content isn't what it says, but the fact that everyone knows AI wrote it?
AI can write your emails, proposals, social media posts, and marketing content in seconds. But when everything sounds like the same generic chatbot, efficiency comes at the expense of authenticity. And for business leaders, that can damage the relationships and credibility they've spent years building.
The solution isn't to stop using AI. It's to teach AI how to communicate like you.
In this episode of Leveraging AI, Isar Meitis sits down with Jonathan Mast, founder of White Beard Strategies and AI coach, to demonstrate a practical, four-step process for teaching ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and other AI tools to capture your unique voice, writing style, and brand personality.
You'll learn how to create a reusable AI voice guide and turn it into an AI skill that helps produce consistent, authentic content across different tools and business workflows.
In this session, you'll discover:
• Why generic AI-generated content can undermine your brand and professional credibility.
• How to quickly personalize ChatGPT using a personality profile.
• The four-prompt framework for creating a detailed AI voice and writing style guide.
• Why your emails, meeting transcripts, and natural conversations are valuable training examples.
• How to turn your voice guide into a reusable AI skill for ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI tools.
• Why testing and refining your AI skill is essential for reliable results.
• How businesses can share brand voice skills across teams to maintain consistent communication at scale.

Isar Meitis Hello and welcome to another episode of the Leveraging AI podcast, the podcast that shares practical, ethical ways to leverage AI to improve efficiency, grow your business, and advance your career. This is Isar Amit, your host, and we're going to talk about a really important topic today. We are now at the point that everybody is using AI for more or less everything.

Isar Meitis Now, you let AI write proposals for you, you reply to emails, you write blog posts, social media posts, or at least it helps you doing a plethora of these kind of things and participate in conversations, digital conversations on your behalf one way or another. The companies who are taking this to the next level have automations that do customer service, that do sales follow-ups and stuff like that.

Isar Meitis The other end of that equation is that everybody can now spot a written content by AI a mile away. So And, and it's still a turnoff. Like people are like, "Oh, okay, you, you didn't actually take the time to write me this response. You let AI write this response to me, so you don't really take me seriously, and you're not investing the time in me."

Isar Meitis So there's a bigger and bigger gap between what people allow themselves to do and how people conceive the outcome of that situation. So what's the solution? Well, there is a solution. The solution is teaching AI how to sound like you, how to sound like your brand and not to be generic AI, and this is something AI can definitely do.

Isar Meitis It can actually do it really, really well. So in today's episode, we're going to teach you step by step how to do that. How can you train AI, make AI communicate the way you communicate, align with your brand guidelines and be sounding like a human in your style, in the way you speak, in the language you use?

Isar Meitis And you can do this regardless whether you're using ChatGPT or Claude or Gemini or Grok or Instinct or whatever tool that comes out, because they all work in the same way. Now, our guest today, Jonathan Mast, has been in the branding and digital marketing space for a very long time. He held roles in every aspect of that, from running his own agency to being a strategist to multiple individuals and companies.

Isar Meitis So he understands online branding on a very deep level. And in the last couple of years, he has taken his deep knowledge and his expertise, combining them with how do you do this with AI to become even more efficient, which makes him the perfect person to teach us exactly on that topic, on how to get consistent results from AI to speak like you and amplify your brand versus damage your brand because it's sounds like AI instead of you.

Isar Meitis And so because I believe this is critical for literally every individual, for their personal brand and every company for their company brand, it's a critical thing to learn. And so I'm really, really excited and humbled to have Jonathan on the show. Jonathan, welcome to Leveraging AI.

Jonathan Mast Well, thank you for having me here. I'm excited. Like you, I, I think this is one of those most important things that, unfortunately, a lot of people miss. I'm really excited to chat about it today.

Isar Meitis Yeah, me too. I, listen, you and I, you and I met at, uh, speaking at a conference together. So we both had, uh, separate rooms. And I, I think the... You know, people are very excited about the automations and the build-outs and, like, the sophisticated agents and all of that, but the core basic things they sometimes miss because it's not shiny.

Isar Meitis It just happens in the back end somewhere. Nobody knows you actually invested time in it. But it makes a very big difference in the actual quality and the response you're gonna get with the output of that AI. So I, I'm excited about this as well.

Jonathan Mast Fantastic. Well, where do we want to kick it off with?

Isar Meitis Uh, let's, uh, you know what? Before we dive into the tactical stuff, let's talk about the, what are the building blocks that actually make it possible, right? Mm-hmm. So, so I, I can tell AI, "Oh, I want you to talk like me. Here's how I talk. Like, how do I What are the building blocks that make it actually possible?"

Jonathan Mast Well, today I plan on showing two different ways to do it. I know that in the audience we're going to have some people that, like me, may be from ADHD or blessed with it. I think it's a, a, a great thing, and there's a couple different ways we can go through it. So I'm gonna teach a quick and dirty way that if you need to start using AI before lunch today, and you need it to sound like you, we can get it set up.

Jonathan Mast And then I'm gonna show you the recommended way. Doesn't take much longer, but takes maybe 20 or 30 minutes, and then we'll actually create for you, uh, literally a training file for your AI that you can use with any tool. Like you mentioned, it can be any of our normal tools, ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Gemini.

Jonathan Mast It could be the, the new agents that are out there, whether it be GrokBot or Instinct or Meta Muse or the new Dots or anything. It will work with all of them. And then when it's creating content for you, whether that's an email that it's writing, whether it's a memo, a training, social media post, you name it, it will look or will sound and read like it's coming from you.

Jonathan Mast And that to me is the so- important part. Like you said, people are getting a little frustrated with what they call AI slop, and that really just means people are going, "Do this for me," and then they're posting it and they're not previewing it. Any more-- I wouldn't do that any more than I would if I hired a, the best possible personal assistant in the world, and then the first day on the job, without teaching them anything, I had them go write a memo for me and I didn't proof it, I just sent it out.

Jonathan Mast None of us would do that, but we do do that for whatever reason with AI. So the building blocks are really teaching it your personality, giving it some samples that possibly you've used in the past, and letting it learn how to mimic you effectively. It's not hard, but it's a really important step, and it's probably one of the most important 30 minutes you'll invest to making sure that AI really does amplify your skill and experience and not just sound like AI slop.

Isar Meitis Okay, awesome. So let's, let's... Great setup. Let's dive into the tactical. How do we actually do this?

Jonathan Mast Okay, sounds good. I'm gonna share my screen, 'cause there's a couple different ways to do it. I'm gonna teach the quick and dirty one, and then we're gonna go ahead from there and we're gonna talk about the way I recommend doing it. So the quick and dirty, and again, this works in any system you have, but is to go to this site right here.

Jonathan Mast It's called 16personalities.com. You could use another site, but basically what we wanna do is we wanna train it on your personality. This uses a Myers-Briggs standard, and under Myers-Briggs there are 16 different personality types, and it figures out which one you are. Believe it or not, just by understanding and telling the AI which of these four-letter acronyms fit you, it will get about 80% of the way there to sounding like you.

Jonathan Mast That one simple thing. So if you're in a hurry and you're watching this before lunch and you're like, "I need to write something for my lunch meeting," come here. In about five to 10 minutes you'll have it. You may already know it. I happen to be, uh, an ENTP, for example, and I can literally go into ChatGPT or anywhere else and tell it, "Create this for me as an ENTP."

Jonathan Mast So write me a quick thank you memo for the recent podcast I was on, and use my ENTP personality style. And that's all I need to say. Now, I should give it some more information, but that's literally all I need to say in order for that to work, and it will work The other thing you can do, virtually all of the tools give you the ability to set a memory file up, and you can go into your settings if you want, and here it's custom instructions, if I can find it and drag all my things out of the way, which it may not do for me.

Jonathan Mast There we go. If I go into settings and personalization, I happen to be on a team plan, your screen may look a little bit different, but I can turn on my memory, and here's the important part. I can set up in ChatGPT what are called my custom instructions, and when I do that, I can just put in there that I'm an ENTP.

Jonathan Mast When you write copy, please reflect my ENTP style, and it will be significantly different than if I put in a different personality profile. So that's the quick and dirty. If you're trying to figure out, how do I get this done and do it quickly, just head out to 16personalities.com. Now, the recommended way, though, it doesn't take a lot longer and will work even better.

Jonathan Mast And what I'm gonna do, I'm gonna go ahead and give it this so you'll be able to share this out. This is a series of four prompts that you can walk through with any AI tool, and what's gonna happen is it's going to interview you, and when it interviews you, at the end of this process, it's gonna create a file, and that file is now something that we can, again, upload to any AI model.

Jonathan Mast But even better, you've probably heard and many of the audience has probably heard, the new thing that everybody's talking about for repeatable processes is to create an AI skill. And when we have this file, we can go ahead and create an AI skill with that, that again, can be used in virtually every tool.

Jonathan Mast I've got, for example, open, I've got ChatGPT, I've got Claude, I've got Gemini, I've got Grok, I've got Kimi, I've got Quinn. There's all kinds of models, and these are only some of the models, folks. It works in all of them, and that's what gets really exciting. So what we're gonna do is you're literally gonna take this, come on here and copy- So I'm, I'm

Isar Meitis gonna pause you just for one second- Yeah just to, to connect a few dots, uh, for people. So the, the first one that Jonathan shared is really just telling the general personality that you are. Correct. The second one will capture you, not as a personality type, but your actual personal traits and so on.

Isar Meitis Exactly. Another thing that Jonathan said in the beginning that I'm sure we'll get to afterwards is giving it examples. So if you're like Jonathan, my- and myself and you generate content, well, guess what? You have an endless number of examples of how you speak. Uh, if you don't generate content, well, you still write emails, you wrote documents, you wrote letters, like all these kind of things, memos, and so these could be your examples.

Isar Meitis As far as the second thing, uh- People are very excited about agents and, and like how are these- Mm-hmm and still a lot of people think that agents are these magical creatures you find in the forest next to fairies and unicorns. Yes. And, and the reality is all agents are, are written .md files with a set of instructions in English or whatever other language you want to use.

Isar Meitis And so these skills are the same thing. They're like mini agents. They are agents that focus on something very, very specific, but at the core of them, there's a set of instructions. And what Jonathan is going to teach you how to do is to create those set of instructions so then any AI you're gonna connect this to, because they all know how to use skills, will be able to read the instructions, understand who you are, how you communicate, what words you use, which words you will never use, what kind of style.

Isar Meitis Are you very formal? Are you very informal? Do you use F-bombs? Like, whatever it is that you do when you communicate, it will capture that. And then the way AI uses skills is you don't have to tell it, and that's the magical stuff in

Jonathan Mast this.

Isar Meitis Yes. It just understand that it's now applicable to use that skill, and it is going to apply it. So from that moment on, it will just speak based on this format that it's going to learn from that skill, and you'll be able to do this, and this is how the behind the scenes work.

Speaker This episode is brought to you by the Multi-Agent Orchestration Course. It's a course that I have been teaching personally since April of this year, and every single one of the cohorts that we have opened have sold out. And the people who have been through these courses made incredible transformations for themselves, switching jobs, starting their own companies and so on, and definitely for their businesses by being able to build really complex processes by following our methodology and our infrastructure settings that we teach during the course.

Speaker The course is four sessions of two to two and a half hours each over four consecutive weeks, and through it, you can go from knowing a little bit about how to use AI and using it in ways that most people are using it today to learning how to build really complex, sophisticated systems that can automate more or less everything in your business.

Speaker The current cohort that is open starts on November 2nd, and it's gonna go on November 2nd, November 8th, November 16th, and November 23rd, and we are almost sold out for that cohort as well. It is very likely that we will not open another cohort in December, meaning the next one after that is gonna be in January.

Speaker So if you still wanna learn how to build really incredible automations and learn everything that I've learned by doing this every single day for the last few years, don't miss this opportunity to come and join us on November 2nd. There's a link in the show notes, And if you're going to use the promo code LEVERAGINGAI100, you're going to get $100 off of the price that is on the website.

Speaker Like I said, there's a few seats open, but they are selling out fast. So if you're interested in doing this still this year, go and click on the link right now on your phones and complete the registration and the payment so you can guarantee your seat. I'm looking forward to seeing you there. And now back to the episode

Jonathan Mast Yeah. Couldn't have said it better. And you're absolutely right, and it's taking this process, doing it really just one time, and then there may be some edits you make to it, is, is what makes you and gives you that ability to leverage AI as a tool to do some of that heavy lifting and not have everybody go, "Well, that's just AI slop."

Jonathan Mast Because it won't be AI slop anymore because you've trained it

Isar Meitis Okay. So, so let's, now let's dive into these four prompts and- Okay see how they work.

Jonathan Mast Well, I'm gonna actually walk through right on the screen here, we'll give you an example. So we're gonna, uh, this is just a Google document. Just come on into the Google document, and you'll see there's four of them. We're gonna come up to the first one, and we're

Isar Meitis simply- And we're gonna share this in the show notes, so if you guys- Yeah, absolutely wanna open this as you're listening, uh, just click on the link in the show notes, and you can copy it to your computer or read along or whatever you wanna do. Uh, don't do this while you're driving, but more or less any other activity, you can probably follow along pretty well.

Jonathan Mast I'm gonna show this in ChatGPT, just because it'll be quick and it's what a lot of people use. But you can do this in your chosen AI, it doesn't matter. So we're gonna copy that. We're gonna walk on over here. Let's start a new chat here, and what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna paste this in. Oops, there we go.

Jonathan Mast And you'll see inside of this prompt there are a couple of bracketed items, and it's really important that you go through and you fill this in for yourself. If we don't do that, and then it's not gonna work so well. So I'll do it for myself real quickly. And, uh, I tend to use a, a voice-to-text transcription feature, so you hear me say that.

Jonathan Mast Jonathan Mast, and then I'm gonna highlight my role in my business. Founder of White Beard Strategies. I'm an AI coach and trainer. And then here we go. I write, what types of content do we do? So we're gonna say emails, social media posts, training content, and lots of short guides. And then four, and this is really important, you need to know your audience because when it creates the content, you wanna make sure it understands your audience.

Jonathan Mast Now, you can update this, so don't feel like, "Well, hang on. Sometimes I'm talking to my team, sometimes I'm talking to my clients, sometimes I'm talking to prospects." Give it a general audience, and you can always customize this when you use the prompt. So for me, I'm just gonna say, "People who identify as entrepreneurs and are curious about leveraging AI to save time, make money, and deliver more value."

Jonathan Mast And mostly on your favorite platform You find the mute button here There we go. Had to get that cough out of the way. And mostly on social media platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn And of course, it didn't wanna put that in. Let's try it again. Social media platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn. There we go.

Jonathan Mast By the way, if you haven't ever started using a transcription service, that's a whole nother podcast, but talking to, to your computer as opposed to typing is a lot faster. So there it is. I'm just gonna put that in place and I'm gonna say go. Now, this is a series, if you noticed, of four prompts, and what you wanna do is you wanna start this in one conversation, and you wanna go sub- sequentially from prompt one to two to three to four in that same conversation.

Jonathan Mast So it's really easy. Again, we're just gonna highlight what we have. Now, the system may ask you a couple questions in between, and that's okay. We're gonna wanna fill that out, and then you're gonna proceed to step two, three, and ultimately four to get where you need to go. So I'm not gonna go through every step because we don't wanna take all of that in the podcast, but I'll show you how we just answer to make it simple.

Jonathan Mast It says, "Before I start asking you about your beliefs and writing habits, give me two to three examples of things you personally wrote without AI." Now, this is what we were just talking about. Most of us have some of this content. If you're a content creator, you've got lots of it. If you're not, and you're maybe not a content creator, then go literally look at some emails that you wrote.

Jonathan Mast Look at, maybe you can pull a transcript from a meeting you were in where you had to give a five-minute presentation on something. Uh, grab, uh, a memo that you've written. It doesn't have to be formal, it doesn't have to be some presentation or anything like that, but grab anything that you've got there.

Jonathan Mast And again, a transcript- Yeah even when you're speaking, can work really well. Go ahead.

Isar Meitis No, I, I literally was about to say your last sentence. Like, we, we all now record and transcribe all of our calls, or many of us do, and that works perfectly because you have all of these. They just, just you have transcripts of, like, the last 150 calls that you've done, and this is the way you communicate mostly like you because you don't think about it.

Isar Meitis That's when you're the most natural, and it just comes out like you, and that's the most authentic way to actually grab your voice and the way you communicate as an example for AI.

Jonathan Mast And it's so important that you do this step. I know a lot of people go, "Oh." It's so important 'cause this is the difference between the subtleties that make you sound like you and someone else. For example, maybe you have key phrases that you use a lot. Maybe you have analogies that you use on a regular basis, and by uploading some sample content, the AI will start to learn that, and it will reflect those things.

Jonathan Mast I, for example, I have a habit, and it's probably not the best speaking habit. When I'm answering questions, when I'm done, I'm t- I typically say, "Does that make sense?" Now, I've been told by many coaches I probably shouldn't do that, but I do. It's part of who I am. So if I'm writing content and I'm answering a question, and I don't end it with "Does that make sense?"

Jonathan Mast My audience is gonna go, "Well, that wasn't Jonathan," 'cause he always says that. And I have a partic- couple particular phrases that I use, such as AI amplifies your skill and experience. If I'm talking about something related to AI and you and I don't make that comment, chances are people are gonna go, "Well, that doesn't sound like Jonathan because he's always using certain key phrases."

Jonathan Mast All of us have them, even if we don't realize it, and that's where the spoken things that we're talking about here really can add value because the spoken word is where we often use those repeatable phrases. And again, sometimes we're not even aware. But by building that into your AI, it will really help it sound like you and reflect who you really are.

Jonathan Mast So that's a, it's a, it's a great way to do it and definitely something we wanna, wanna take a look at. All right, let me go back to my screen share here real quick So what's gonna happen is we're gonna go through prompt one. Once we're done with that and we've answered it, then we're gonna grab prompt two.

Jonathan Mast We're literally gonna come back and paste that right here, and then we're gonna do the same with prompt three and prompt four. Now, you'll notice in the guide that we're gonna share, there is a few instructions in between, and I'd like you to follow those. So after prompt number one, just answer the questions in your own words.

Jonathan Mast Really important, don't, don't try to get overly formatted or, or edit your responses. Just give it who you are. Candidly, the messier, the better. In other words, the more like you. Don't give it a-- Don't, don't spend a lot of time editing your answers and polishing them. Just give it your answers.

Jonathan Mast After prompt two, it's gonna say, "Please pick the samples that you're proud of and that got a good response. One unedited transcript is worth more than three heavily edited posts." Same thing. Again, really focus on those samples. Don't try to give it a perfected, polished sample. That's why the voice stuff is so key here.

Jonathan Mast If you can just give it good information from a recording from your, uh, from your Fathom, your Otter, whatever, your Read.ai, whatever tool you're using, anytime you've been speaking, that'll be helpful. Uh, by the way, if you're not sure, go-- and you happen to maybe have a wearable device, I have a wearable device, uh, that records.

Jonathan Mast Wear that around with you for a few hours and just record some of your conversations and feed that in here. And then step three, again, we're gonna just copy and paste in sequence. We're gonna go right through the same chat. Don't start a new chat each time. And this is a great one. This is where it's really now taking the data that we've got, and it's going to create your voice guide.

Jonathan Mast And I, and I love this part. Most of us can relate to this. Most of us know what a ghostwriter is, and so we're literally gonna say, "Act as a ghostwriter who writes the style guides that other writers use to fill in for a busy founder." You're that busy founder, and it's gonna act as that ghostwriter to create...

Jonathan Mast And this is really important. It's not just acting as a ghostwriter, but who creates the style guides that other writers use. Why is that important? Because this is gonna create a style guide that various AI models can use for you. So it's gonna go ahead and put all that together, and then ultimately, we're gonna come down to step four And test and revision.

Jonathan Mast And you're simply gonna go ahead and do that same thing. So s- save the guide. When you're done, by the way, with step three, it's going to give you a document. It's probably gonna be a markdown document, or maybe ChatGPT may create it as a Word doc. It's gonna give you a document. Save that document.

Jonathan Mast It's really important. And then we're gonna move on to step four, and step four is testing. Now, the reason that we've got testing in here is once you've created this file and the AI has created this for you, then you're literally gonna save this file to your computer. Mine happens to be called JMast Voice.

Jonathan Mast Really, really good, right? It's just my name, Jonathan Mast, JMast Voice. But here's the key. One, I've saved it to Google Drive. That way, virtually every AI tool I have, if they have access to the internet, I can share that file. I've not restricted it to me. I've made it available to anybody so that any tool I share it with can use it.

Jonathan Mast I also have it loaded on my local computer, so I can upload it if I want to. About a week and a half, almost two weeks ago now, I started using a brand-new agent. You may have heard of the tool called Instinct, and I just started using it. I found out about it, and I did... One of the first things I did, I was actually sitting at a conference, got a text message, and it said, "Hey, you wanna try this out?

Jonathan Mast This is really cool." Speakers are on the stage, I'm on my phone, and the first thing I did after signing up was I took my JMast Voice file and I uploaded it to Instinct. And I said, "This is how I sound, and when you create content, sound like me. Mimic me." That's literally all I had to do. That same works with any agent or, again, with virtually any tool that you use.

Jonathan Mast Now, I wanna, in a minute here, I'm gonna show you how we go ahead and we set up a skill file if you want, because a skill file will embody and will basically bring all of this together. That, again, is a, a file that you can then install on any system that you've got, and that makes life work really easily.

Jonathan Mast So I'm gonna go ahead and go back here. Let me just go grab the file real quick. Now,

Isar Meitis while, while you do that, two cents to add, which is critical on one of the aspects you said. So first of all, all the steps are obviously perfect. Uh, the one step that a lot of people don't do is enough testing, right? So people will build something, they will learn how to build it, or they will ask AI how to build it, and they will follow the AI instructions on how to build something, but then you have to test it.

Isar Meitis And- Yes I, I'm sure you're very much like me. I have more than 100 skills running across multiple things that I'm doing. Maybe two of them, but probably zero are in version one of that skill. Yes. Many of them are in version- Absolutely 57 of the skill, because over time I'm testing and learning and fine-tuning and finessing and upgrading and, and correcting and so on.

Isar Meitis And so don't think that just because you follow the process that Jonathan just shared with you or anybody else, it's now, oh, now I have a perfect solution and I'm ready to go and I'm just gonna run it blindly and it's gonna be perfect every single time. You have to test it. Yes. You have to test it more than once, and the reason you have to test it more than once is because all these AI tools are statistical tools.

Isar Meitis The fact that they got it right the first time doesn't mean it's gonna get it right five out of six, and definitely not 19 out of 20. And so you gotta run it through different scenarios in different things you're trying to write. I'm trying to write a blog post. I'm trying to write, uh, a proposal. I'm trying to write a social media thing.

Isar Meitis I'm trying to write a note to my wife. It doesn't matter, uh, what you're trying to write, run it several times through the different scenarios, see how it works. Like in the beginning for me, the, the biggest thing that threw me away when it wrote emails for me, it would write something like respectfully or...

Isar Meitis Which, which is something I'll never write. I feel like in my entire life I've never written respectfully at the bottom of an email, but it- Kind of like what it thought. I'm like, "No, I, I would never say that." I would say, "Yeah, have an awesome week"- So important or something very non-formal. Uh, and, and again, you gotta catch it, and then you gotta tell it, and it's gonna fix the file or the scale or whatever it is that you're doing, and it will know how to not repeat these mistakes.

Isar Meitis But if you assume that you've built it and now it's gonna be perfect for every scenario every single time, that is not the case. And the way to do this is to actually do actual testing, testing in the beginning- 100% and then review the outputs for the next two, three, four weeks. Fine-tune and fine-tune and fine-tune until you get to the point like, okay, this is now perfect.

Isar Meitis It is, sounds perfectly like me in everything that I'm doing, and then skim through things quickly just to be sure. Or if it's something that is not a big deal, you can just let it fly and let it do its thing. Like, if it's internal communications or things like that, uh, that is okay. But again, do not assume that because you just created it because we gave you this, this trick on how to do that, it's going to be perfect the first time around.

Jonathan Mast No, it's so good, and I actually let my ADHD get in the way. That is actually step four, is to create some sample content and then have you go over it and review it because it is really important. And before people are like, "This sounds like an arduous process," I want you to look at it this way. The AI tools you have are like hiring an incredibly capable assistant who knows nothing about you.

Jonathan Mast And if you were to hire that incredibly capable assistant and they're sitting next to you at your desk, you'd have to train them. Day one, they're not gonna know nearly as much as they're gonna know on day 30, and not nearly as much on day 30 as they're gonna know on day 90. Because what's gonna happen is when they do work for you, you're gonna give them some feedback and you're gonna go, "Hey, I would make this change.

Jonathan Mast I would make that change," and they're gonna learn how you do things. AI works the same way. It can't read your mind. It doesn't know what you're thinking, and therefore that back and forth, that refinement is every bit as important with an AI as it would be if you hired a human assistant who is sitting next to you.

Jonathan Mast And I think we have a tendency, I know I do, to think, "Well, it's AI. I've, uh, it must know everything about me." And so we forget that, and we often don't even train it as much as we would a real human assistant. And I think if you can think of it in that context, it'll really help out when it comes to this

Isar Meitis I love this, and I, I use the same analogy as well, and I'm gonna say something that relates to this. Uh, both you and I have human assistants as well as- Yes AI assistants, and my human assistant called me 10 minutes before this interview and said, "Hey, Saar, I know Monday morning is when you do your deep work.

Isar Meitis I just wanna make sure that you raise your head out of whatever it is you're stuck in, you have it stuck in, because you have an interview coming in 10 minutes." And I was actually aware, but it's not gonna be the first time that I'm not, because when I'm doing deep work, I'm doing s- and she knows. And the only reason she knows is she knows exactly how I work and what my schedule is- Exactly and what I'm doing and so on.

Isar Meitis And, and she knows when to jump in and be more proactive versus the times just sit back and wait for me to request, and it's the same exact thing with AI. It is. And I will say one more thing, and then we're gonna dive back into the process. As you get better at this, you learn how to give AI more and more context about your world.

Isar Meitis So not just this is how I write, but this is my entire work universe. Uh- Mm-hmm I have a context layer that the AI have access to that gives it access to everything I know. Literally my Google Drive, stuff on my computer, Fathom call transcripts, my CRM, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. It, it has access to all of that, which makes it significantly more powerful, but, but the same concepts apply.

Isar Meitis You have to teach it about you, how you work, how you think, what you do, how you do it, in order for it to become more and more productive, just like a human assistant, and, and I love the analogy. So now let's go back. So, so we've tested it. Yeah. We got to the point where it's working Up above acceptable.

Isar Meitis Let's, let's finish then Exactly.

Jonathan Mast .No, and I think this is so important that we talk about it. There are many layers that we can talk about. But once you've tested it, so you've finished prompt four, you'll notice at the end it's, it's done. You're done. You're gonna have your file, and I went ahead and pulled up my file here just to give you an example.

Jonathan Mast So this is my file right here, and you're gonna end up with a text file similar to this. It may be shorter or longer depending on how much you've done it. This one you can see mine's version 3.3.1. That goes back to what we were talking about. It's not version one. I've been working on this for two years, and it gets updated almost monthly.

Jonathan Mast You can see I updated this one in September '22, so as we're recording that just about two weeks ago, I just updated that, and that's pretty typical for me to update it about once a month. But now that I have this file, what you're gonna do, and again, I've thrown it in Google Doc. You may go, "Jonathan, what's this weird formatting?

Jonathan Mast I see you've got plus signs and different things. What is all that?" That's what we call markdown formatting. Now, you don't have to use markdown. It doesn't matter, but markdown is the language that AI speaks, and so by using a markdown file, it tends to be just a skosh faster and more efficient, use up fewer of those tokens that we're all trying to save.

Jonathan Mast So if you use a markdown file, it's gonna save you. And I'm literally then gonna just take this and I'm going to download it as a markdown or MD file. Google supports that right here. I'm just gonna click and download, and it'll be downloaded and I can use it. Now, now that I have it downloaded, I'm gonna go back into ChatGPT again.

Jonathan Mast We're gonna go ahead and start a new chat, and what I'm gonna say is, "I have a voice style guide, and I need you to create a skill called J Mast Voice that I can utilize any time that I want in the future. Please incorporate the attached file That's it. Doesn't have to be anything more specific than that.

Jonathan Mast And what I'm gonna do is I'm going to add in that self-scribe file. So there it is. I'm just gonna attach it. That same prompt can be put anywhere. You can make it more verbose if you need to, but it really doesn't have to be. The thing is you want to say, "I want you to create a skill, and then if you can, give it a name."

Jonathan Mast You don't have to put it in quotes. I will for here, and then say go. Every system out there that supports skills, and it's virtually every one, I'm sure there may be one, it's gonna go ahead and say all right. To do that, it wants to go ahead and use Work, no problem. We'll let it use Work, and don't worry about that.

Jonathan Mast That's just a different mode inside of ChatGPT, and it's now gonna go ahead and create this skill for me. The beauty of this is when this is done, and this process will take a couple minutes, but when this is done, I'll, I'll stop my screen share while it's thinking. When this is done, it's gonna give me a file that I can install, just like you would install an app on your mobile phone, I can install inside of ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Manus, Grok.

Jonathan Mast I could go on and on. Again, if you can think of it, it probably works. And now, the next time I'm writing something, if I wanna make sure it sounds like me, all I have to do is say, "Use Jmast style." And it, it's like having an app that... and memory. It's almost like your assistant has that file cabinet or that memo that when you do it and go, "Oh, here, I'm gonna pull that out and remember."

Jonathan Mast Now, you may say if, if AI is so brilliant, why don't we just upload it once and trust it? Well, it depends on how we're using it. If you're using a chat interface, every chat starts new, and so you'd have to make sure that that was in memory. And because every memory system and every AI works a little bit differently, it's sometimes hard to rely on that.

Jonathan Mast By using a skill, it's super, super simple, and you can re- know that it's doing it. If you're using an agent Instinct, Grokbot, uh, Q by, by Manus, uh, Dots, the brand new one that just came out by, uh, OpenAI. That you can upload one time to the agent because they have what's called persistent memory, and you can tell them that, "Save this, and every time I ask you to write something in my voice, use this file," and it will automatically do that.

Jonathan Mast Now, persistent memory is new, but the good news is we're using the worst versions of AI today that we're ever going to use in the future, so it's only gonna get better. But take that document and upload it to an agent or that skill. I would take the same skill that we're creating and actually upload that to the agent, or I would upload it to your chat.

Jonathan Mast So again, it's gonna take a couple minutes for it to create that file, and then I'll show you here in a minute as soon as it's done exactly how we install it. It's super easy, and then it's, it's like having an assistant that never forgets because that information is always there and available to them.

Jonathan Mast So that process is simple. Go through, create your style, take the file, save the file, and, and, and you can just use that. Or if you wanna make life even easier, go to that next step and create this AI skill file that then literally can be installed into your AI just like you could install an app on your phone.

Jonathan Mast So that's really it. It's that simple to do. And Again, just a reminder to what we were just talking about. Just because it's done doesn't mean it's done forever. As you saw, mine's on version 3.3.1. It's almost two years in the making. In fact, just over. I built my first version of this in August of 2024.

Jonathan Mast We're now in October of 2026, so it's, it's just continues to evolve, just like you evolve. If your assistant works with you for a couple years, chances are, just like you were sharing, they're gonna know when to interject, when not to interject, when to remind you, because they're gonna know you, and that's exactly what this system does.

Jonathan Mast Just go back periodically, upload it in, and have it update for you. It's really easy. So-

Isar Meitis Fantastic.

Jonathan Mast I wanna add- I'm still thinking in the back, but it won't, it won't take long here. Go ahead.

Isar Meitis Yeah, no, I wanna add something as far as different ways to use this in different layers that are possible. So if you think about it, what Jonathan showed you right now, while being really advanced, it is one layer, right? It's how you- It is communicate. There are other layers that could change. As Jonathan th- said previously, a good example is audiences.

Isar Meitis I speak to different audiences. Do I speak to all of them the same? Hell no. I don't speak to my wife the same way I speak to my kids, the same way I speak to my business audience, the same way I speak on stages. I speak differently in those situations.

Jonathan Mast Exactly.

Isar Meitis And so you could build a two-layer environment that understands your different target audiences and knows how to do that. You can add the business layer. Here's my business. This is what I do. So when I do business stuff, I want you to take it into consideration, and so on. So this is another layer that you can build in.

Isar Meitis The reason to potentially build it in these layers is that then each and every one of these layers, which could be a separate MD file, separate document, one represents- Mm-hmm the way you speak, one represents your business, one separates different target audiences, and so on, these building blocks become more reusable, and I'll give you an example why that matters.

Isar Meitis Now that you have that skill, you can use it. But let's say you are the content Whatever the title is, director of marketing content for a specific company, and you want anybody that creates content for the business to sound the same. You want Sheila and John and Sam to all sound the same way when they write content for the company.

Isar Meitis You can share that skill with them. So through, if you're on a Teams account or an Enterprise account- Exactly you can share it through that. But if you're not, you can just give them that installable file. It, it's, it's basically a zip file, but it's a dot skill in the end- Mm-hmm but it's actually a zip file, and you can email it to them or Slack it to them, or WhatsApp people, like whatever, whatever way you wanna communicate, and they can just bring it into their environment, whatever they're working on, and have the skill run.

Isar Meitis But that means you gotta separate your personal aspect of this out of the other aspects, because your personal stays just yours. Everything else can be company-related. And so there's, there's nuances as you learn that first step on how you can take this to the next levels, how you can help additional people achieve the same outcome.

Isar Meitis So then again, most of us work in organizations. We don't work on our own, and then how do you make sure everybody that runs it in the organization gets the same kind of consistent outcome? Exactly. That's the way. Create these skills. You make the skills not include your personal voice, but create the brand voice of the company, and then you give everybody that skill, and then they don't need to do anything.

Isar Meitis Once the skill is installed, uh, every new content that they will generate will be aligned with that.

Jonathan Mast No, and I love how you talk about your brand voice, because that's the next step in this. This was really your voice, and the next step is to do the same process for your brand. Because that is something you wanna share with your team. If your team is creating content, you wanna make sure that that content reflects your brand, and one skill file that you've created and tested can be shared with your entire team, and you'll know that they then are gonna create content that reflects your brand voice.

Jonathan Mast And so that shareable aspect really does become critical. Uh, just real quick to, to, to close the loop, and I know we're running up, uh, out of time here, but as we get into this, you'll see once it's created, it'll say, "Created and installed." And now if I wanna use this, all I need to do is start a new chat, and I can use, in ChatGPT at least, I use the symbol, and I start typing, and notice as soon as I do that, see if I can get it right here Uh, there it is.

Jonathan Mast J Mast Voice right there. Uh, no. Yep, there it is. And now it's added it to this conversation. So if I ask it to do anything, it will automatically write using all of that information. And, and as we were just sharing, that file can be shared with anybody. So if it's your personal, it can be shared with an assistant.

Jonathan Mast If it's your company brand voice, which is the next step I recommend you do, everyone in your company that creates content that reflects your company should have that brand voice guide. And instead of them trying to remember to do it, now with AI, it's programmed in, it's set to go, and you can keep that consistency that helps you build an even stronger brand across the board

Isar Meitis Absolutely awesome. Uh, Jonathan, this was really, really great. Well, like a very solid process that people can follow. Again, we're gonna share the exact prompts- We will from Jonathan's file in the show notes, so you can go and grab that, uh, and just copy-paste, follow the steps. Invest the 10, 15 minutes it will take you to go through the process.

Isar Meitis I promise you the results are gonna be worth it. Jonathan, if people wanna follow you, learn from you, work with you, all of these things, what are the best ways to find you?

Jonathan Mast Well, if you just remember my name, you can go to jonathanmast.com and you'll get all information. Or you can go to my company website, we're White Beard Strategies. And if all that fails and you're just going, "What do I do?" Just type in White Beard AI and I'll show up, and, uh, you know, you'll find me.

Jonathan Mast Uh, we do tons of free trainings. We do tons of free stuff. We've got some paid stuff too but, yeah, come hang out with us. Join, join us and see what we're about.

Isar Meitis Awesome. Thank you so, so much. This was absolutely great.

Jonathan Mast Thank you for having me. It's been a pleasure.
