Tuesday 27 October 2026
Today is Tuesday the 27th of October, in the 30th week of Ordinary Time.
As Eliza King sings ‘The Lord’s Prayer’, ask the Lord to make you still and to hold your worries, questions and searching for a little while. Spend these next few minutes simply being with Him. Let your longing for His presence and love rise within you and give thanks.
God my Holy Father, first your name I seek
Trusting like a child, You will meet my need
Let Your kingdom come as Your will is done in me
Usher into earth all that heaven longs to see
What I’m needing daily, You hold in your hands
Here I find forgiveness, and grace to forgive
Let Your kingdom come as Your will is done in me
Usher into earth all that heaven longs to see
Keep me from the one who would lead my heart astray
Every time I call, Father You deliver me
Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory
Now and forever, Amen
Let Your kingdom come as Your will is done in me
Usher into earth all that heaven longs to see
Keep me from the one who would lead my heart astray
Every time I call, Father You deliver me
Today’s reading is from the Gospel of Luke.
Luke -21
[Jesus] said therefore, ‘What is the kingdom of God like? And to what should I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in the garden; it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.’
And again he said, ‘To what should I compare the kingdom of God? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened.’
‘What is the kingdom of God like?’ Jesus asks those around him. To help them, he offers two examples of small everyday objects that either grow or multiply in hidden ways but when fully grown will have an impact on the world around them. Picture either the small seed or yeast in your hand and take a moment to marvel at its potential.
Now watch it as it grows or expands as if watching a time-lapsed film. See the roots and shoots pushing up through the ground, then the tree as it branches out... or the small piece of yeast in the bowl with the flour... the batch of dough in the oven... increasing in bulk... the smell of bread, finally the beautiful loaf. Enjoy these images as they grow or bake in your imagination, then become a blessing to others.
As you listen to the reading again, reflect on how the Kingdom of Heaven has been growing within you, impacting the world around you.

At the beginning of our prayer time today, Eliza King sang the words: ‘Usher into earth all that heaven longs to see’. You might like to use these words as your prayer today as a desire to be and become more fully a part of God’s Kingdom.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be
World without end
Amen
