Good day. I'm your host attorney, Anthony Reeves. Let's get to your questions. What are the rules regarding assets and SSDI, especially if I'm under the age of forty trying to apply under the age of fifty trying to apply to Social Security disability. I received this question, and there may be some confusion. I don't think you necessarily meant to say SSDI and assets, because for purposes of Social Security Disability insurance benefits will be called DIB. There's no asset rule. The assets rule basically applies to SI. For this particular person's questions, I think you were really asking about quarters of coverage, which really is had you paid twenty out of the last forty or work five years out

of the last ten and you paid enough into the system. Here's one of the things that I tell people. If you're under the age of fifty, the golden years of working technically is eighteen to fifty because you're deemed to be younger individuals. So it's excuse me forty nine to eighteen. I tell people that there are special rules going forward if you are fifty years and older, and as you head up to the additional three brackets, meaning closely approaching advanced age, which is fifty to fifty four, advanced age fifty five to fifty nine, or closely approaching retirement age, which is sixty to sixty four.

The rigs tend to be a little bit more favorable to you under the age of fifty, meaning forty nine to eighteen. The regulations tend not to be as user friendly because let's be real, those are the golden years of working and Social Security typically deems that if you're a younger individual, you have one the ability and to the time to readjust to new jobs in the workplace or learn acquire new skills in the work place. So keep those things in the back of your mind when you're applying for disability benefits if you're under the age of fifty, and keep in mind the Social Security at the end of the day, really feels that somebody like yourself, if you're a younger individual, you have the ability to reintegrate yourself into the workforce a little bit easier than

someone who's over the age of fifty. Again, this is Attorney Anthony Reeves. Please feel free to visit legal beat dot Anthony Reeves dot com for all your resources for social security and all your social security. There's always wasn't coming
