Welcome in episode 522. This episode of What's Right with Nick Wright is presented to you by Boost Mobile. It is our week 8 pick show. Demanze out as we discussed yesterday on the show as his daughter has been banished from daycare because she got sick because of daycare. So now daycare won't let his baby stay there. it's just really outrageous cycle that I don't know how you get out of, to be totally honest with you. Um, but such is life. So Demond's not here. So this will be a quicker than normal show. Reminder to everyone, subscribe to the show. If you could on iTunes, Spotify, or of course on YouTube, YouTube numbers have really been phenomenal lately. Also, um, subscribing. If you listen to this
on iTunes or Spotify, uh, subscribe to our feed, the what's right feed. I know we get dropped in a bunch of places. Uh, but it does help us out quite a bit. All right, and we need some help because last week went two and three. The saddest one is the first one. Jets gave me a losing week, also cost me $ 21 million.
I am.
Still a little catatonic on it. I was knocked out of Survivor. I am going to torture myself now. The demand's an empty chair. We don't really have to show, guys. You can just take me off the screen if we need to. I am a little, I am going to torture myself on Survivor the rest of the year by letting everyone know, including the double pick weeks, what I would have gone with had I gone with my second choice last week was the Dallas Cowboys. If I had done that and I were still alive, this week I would be on the Cincinnati Bengals. There's 300 and some people left. We'll see. how that would have gone. However, the Jets did not win. They did not cover. They did not look good. My other picks for the week,
we can go back to them if we could. The Colts covered, thanks to a half point, plus six and a half at Minnesota. Atlanta, that was our best pick of the week. We said we thought they could win outright. We said we thought everyone would be on the Niners. Atlanta getting two and a half. They win by nine.
The Chiefs getting two and a half in Seattle. We didn't love it. We said all week, that we thought Seattle was going to win, but Mahomes getting points is an auto fire. We auto fired and we got blown up. And then Monday night, Philly getting four and a half in Dallas, or I'm sorry, at home against Dallas. That looked like a good pick for three quarters. That game was back and forth. Dallas then pours it on late.
So that is how you go two and three. Games this week. That we are staying away from. Baltimore at Buffalo. Buffalo favored by 3.5. I like Buffalo in this spot. I like Buffalo. We talked a lot about it on yesterday's show. But I like Buffalo by 3 or 4 points. So the line is perfect at 3.5. So we are staying away from it. Cleveland at Pittsburgh. I looked at Pittsburgh laying 3.5. I looked at this for a very long time. My strong lean is Cleveland. I think these are roughly, they're very different teams, but roughly equivalent caliber of teams. It's a divisional matchup. I'm getting three and the hook. With that said, Pittsburgh has been, I think, underrated defensively the last few weeks. Rodgers has been, over
the last month, one really great game and then three solid games. And Cleveland has really relied on these late game heroics in a way that you do feel like at some point is going to run out. So those, my strong lean is Cleveland plus three and a half, but Not quite enough to make it one of the picks, so we're staying away. Tennessee at Cincinnati. Cincinnati laying 10.5.
I think Cincinnati blows them out. I also understand this year, huge favorites have been absolutely the worst possible against the spread pick of the season. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but favorites of greater than six, I think they're covering like 25% of the time. I also think the whole world's going to be on Cincinnati minus the 10.5. So sometimes that's enough for me to just go with the other side. Yeah, 8, 21, and 3 are favorites of 6-plus points against the spread this season.
This has been a year of big underdogs, at the very least, covering and the last few weeks winning outright. In that regard, Tennessee is the sharper side, but I think Cincinnati is quite good. I think Tennessee is truly awful, so I'm just staying away from it. Minnesota, Detroit. Detroit, three and a half point favorite. Was Detroit's defensive improvement last week a result of them finally getting healthier, or was it a result of Was it just a mirage?
Was it just a one-off? And the Packers dropping some passes. I'm not sure. Because of that, I... If I feel... If Detroit can just have the 20th best defense in the league, then I need to upgrade them in my mind from where I have them. I need to see it for another week. I also don't feel comfortable... But until I see it, I don't feel comfortable laying more than a field goal with them against any good team because teams have moved the ball on them with such ease.
Minnesota hasn't really moved the ball on anyone. I can't, as you guys could tell maybe from my discussion of this game yesterday and right now, I can't wrap my arms around it, so I'm staying away from it. Atlanta at Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay, 2.5-point favorites. Really weird game last week from Tampa where they score 40, but I think Baker completed six passes. Like the Baker's numbers in that game that they won 40 or seven passes. He's seven of 11 for 64 yards. It's not like he was killing with their legs. He ran once for one yard.
They scored 43 points. So is Baker fully healthy? I don't know because I don't know that I don't feel comfortable laying the two and a half even. And I, you guys know, Deep sleeper Falcons, I like them. But I think Tampa's better than them if Baker's fully functional. I need to see them play a fully functional game before I include them in picks. So we're staying away.
Chargers at Rams. Rams laying six and a half. Chargers off a bye. Can't even say season on the line because season's already over. I leaned heavily Rams here. Heavily. However, Chargers off a bye don't have to travel. They haven't traded pieces away. They haven't fired anybody. Is this going to be a dead cat bounce game for the Chargers? Maybe.
They probably just get clocked. But I'm also probably a little scarred. from going against a bad, winless team off of my last week in Miami, only to see Miami in my survivor dreams and win outright, so I'm staying away. Speaking of Miami, New England favored by 6.5 in Miami. This has been a house of horrors for New England over the last 15 years. They're 3-10 on the road in Miami. This was the one-spot Brady thing. never fully solved the way he did the rest of the division, the road games in Miami. With that said, this is, last week notwithstanding, one of the worst Dolphins teams ever.
The reason I'm staying away is I don't feel comfortable picking Miami in any spot where I'm not getting a full touchdown. And I also don't feel comfortable picking New England because laying a relatively big number in the one place that they always struggle in. So I'm staying away. And last but not least a game that I just beginning of the year, this looked like an awesome game.
Now it's a game that I just have no interest in at all. Philly at Washington, Washington does not deserve to be a five and a half point favorite on anyone, but Philly also probably should be getting a touchdown on the road, uh, against almost everyone. So I'm just staying away. So there are five games remaining that we are going with.
I will get to those in a moment. But first, let me tell you guys about our friends at Polymarket. Basketball season's here. Best way to trade on it is the new prediction market, Polymarket. In the past, if you wanted action on the game, put some money in, and if your team was doing well, you wanted to cash out, they would lock the trade. Polymarket's different. because it's a prediction market. It's similar to a stock exchange for sports, buy in and sell out on your terms. I've tried all the prediction markets and Polymarket flatly is the best.
the simplest, the easiest. It's the best prediction market. They're so confident. You'll never go back to the other guys. It is time now for Nick's Picks, brought to you by Polymarket for Week 8. I am going against the trend I told you guys earlier of big underdogs covering with my beloved Jags against the fire sale Colts. Josh Downs has asked for a trade. Jonathan Taylor knows he might be traded. The head coach knows he might be getting fired. The Jags, on the other hand, understand the number one seed is there for the taking, potentially. I will lay the 9.5 with what I consider a very good Jags team against an Indy team that whatever spirit they had left had to be sapped a bit when you saw your best offensive and defensive linemen traded in the same week. All the trends are on my side. Jacksonville, their last 22 was 18-3-1 against Indy, against the spread
against Indy. They've won 10 straight at home against Indy. They've covered nine of them. The last Colts quarterback to win in Jacksonville was Andrew Luck. I think the Jags are a legitimately really good team. The Colts fired their GM and are trading their players. I will swallow hard and lay the nine and a half with Jacksonville. Here's a game. that I really like the pick, I do not intend on watching. Raiders, getting a point and a half at the Jets. Now, is part of this me being just utterly disgusted by the Jets last week? Yes.
Am I a little worried about how public the Raiders are? Yes. With that said, the way the Dolphins... effortlessly moved the ball on this Jets team that for years now just can't force turnovers. Felt to me like the Raiders with the, I think he still leads the league in touchdown passes, Kirk Cousins. They're going to be able to move the ball.
I know it's a West Coast team going east for an early start. You don't love that. But Aaron Glenn is just a brutal coach. I think Clint Kubiak's probably going to be a solid coach. The Raiders' offense is the unit I trust the most in this game. I'll take the Raiders plus a point and a half. Next, one of those big dogs I was talking about. Arizona getting six and a half at Dallas. We said it before, I'll say it again. Big dogs this year are 21-8-3 against the spread. Dogs of six plus points. So that is helpful. It's the Dallas... has not been able to string together consecutive impressive performances. Dallas also, on the short week, having played Monday night, Arizona, Jacoby's going to throw for
a bunch of yards. I don't think they're going to be able to cover Trey McBride. I do think Dallas will win the game. I think Arizona covers the 6.5. I'll take Arizona. Dallas' defense just has not earned the right to be a touchdown favorite over anybody, particularly when it's going to be in good conditions playing inside in Dallas.
I'll take Arizona plus 6.5. I bet this, when it was at minus 1, I will take it and pick it with our friends at Polymarket at minus 1.5. The Chiefs laying 1.5 at Denver. Patrick Mahomes is 19-2 in his career. in the division, on the road. The Chiefs, we saw this game week one when Patrick was not as healthy as he is now, and the Chiefs utterly dominated them. For a lot of the reasons that I felt bad about situationally Kansas City against Seattle, you feel good about Kansas City in this spot. They're the team coming off a loss. Denver's the team that just had the nice, easy victory. Now, the Chiefs don't have the rest edge here, but they are the team getting healthier, while Denver likely going to be without Jalen Waddell for
this game. The Chiefs' defensive issues are about getting to the opposing quarterback, so that concerns you when they're playing a team with an elite passer. That does not concern you as much when they're playing Bo Nix. Denver's running game, to me, is unreliable. The Chiefs' running game is as reliable last week notwithstanding as any team in the league.
If the It's not panic time in Kansas City if they lose, but it is, okay, reevaluate where they are in the NFL hierarchy if they lose. They're a good but not great team. They win this game. They reassert themselves as, in my opinion, the AFC favorites, certainly at the very least right alongside Buffalo. We'll see how Buffalo looks against Baltimore. And they lock up the division. They lose this game. You're fighting for your life in the division the rest of the way. I don't think... I think there has been way too much made of the Chiefs losing in Seattle. I still think the Chiefs are one of the five best teams in the league. I think Denver is right outside of that group. Kansas City, minus one and a half at Denver. And last but
not least, Seattle at home against Chicago. Yes, Chicago did just add Jeffrey Simmons. That should help. I think Seattle... I think Chicago is a B-list contender, and I think Seattle is an A-list contender. I think Seattle also recognizes their margin of error has shrunk considerably. We talked about this game a lot on Thursday's show. I think Seattle, back-to-back games with an absolutely raucous home crowd, back-to-back games on national TV at night where they get to show out to a degree. I think Seattle, actually it'll be three straight night games for Seattle because they played Thursday night football in Denver, then Sunday night football at home against the Chiefs, now Monday night football at home against
the Bears. I think Seattle is going to have one of the more impressive two-week stretches anyone will have in the NFL all year with what they did last week to Kansas City and what I expect to be a 24-17 victory over the Chicago Bears, reminding everyone how dominant that defense is. So our five picks this week are as follows. Laying a huge number with Jacksonville, minus nine and a half at home against Indy. Getting a point and a half with the Raiders in the Meadowlands against the Jets. Getting six and a half with the Cardinals at Dallas. Laying one and a half with Kansas City at Denver and laying three and a half with Seattle at home against Chicago. Even though we have, Demanze is not here today, we will be getting Demanze's teaser that

I've been bad at it. I was bad at it for years. This is not my area of expertise. There are anytime touchdown specialists. I'm not one of them. I think I picked DK Metcalf last week.
That was another loser. I'm staying away from Touchdown Genie this week. We will now go to DeMondsey's teaser, which last week I gave it a D grade because it was an outrageous teaser. And of course it won easily. The Colts teased them up to 14 and a half. They covered without the eight points. The Browns teased them up to six and a half. They covered without the eight points. The Giants teased them up to 18 and a half. They won outright. The easiest teaser, that would have won as a parlay. DeMonte did it as a teaser.
He now is adjusting his methodology, going from an eight point teaser to a six and a half point teaser. And I'm here to tell you, Demondse, I love all three of these. The Rams teased down to a pick. Jacksonville teased down to minus three. The Vikings teased up to six and a half. You're getting key numbers. You're not paying as much juice because you're doing a six and a half pointer. I'm giving Demondse an A plus for this teaser. Rams to a pick. Jags to minus three.
Minnesota to plus ten. Outstanding three-team six-and-a-half pointer. I might just place that one myself, son. Well done. All right, to the offer. Last week, the offer was Kenneth Walker for 100 rushing yards. He had the worst game he's had in years. This week, the producers think Jared Goff's perfect year ends against the Vikings' defense. Jared Goff, one plus INT, 53%. So you're getting a little worse than one-to-one.
You know what, producers? I'll ride with you guys. I'll take it. I'll take the offer. A little worse than one-to-one, Goff INT. Well done, folks. Well done, producers. So we'll take that offer. Feels to me like a four-in-one week. I think DeMonte's going to hit his teaser. Hopefully his baby gets back healthy so that way, again, she's not sick.
She just sniffles or something to send home from daycare. So he can be back with us next week. Huge shout-out to all our wonderful sponsors, Boost Mobile, Polymarket, and Amazon and the Emirates Cup. Huge thank you to big-wig exec Matt Ford for slumming it with us today. in the Blue Duck Studios, and to the folks at The Volume.
Have a wonderful weekend. Talk to you guys soon. Happy Halloween, everybody. Well, that's right.
