From the St. Ignatius Chapel at the Manresa Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Center in Pickering, Ontario. The National Catholic Broadcasting Council presents the Daily TV Mass.

Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I am Father Francis Salesiar, and today our homelist is Deacon Mike Waltz. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contribution from Jacqueline Georges from Scarborough, Ontario. This Mass is offered in loving memory of her beloved family and friends, especially her husband, Terry Lahay, on the fifth anniversary of his death.

His siblings, her siblings, Geraldine, Margaret, Bernard, and Leonard Georges, and her dear friends, Therese Botin, Daryl Dean, and Marie Wong. May their souls enjoy eternal rest in God's kingdom. Our thanks to Jacqueline for making it possible for tens of thousands of faithful across Canada and the USA and around the world to share in this celebration.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Lord be with you.

And with your Spirit.

To show love to our brothers and sisters. Let us ask God's pardon and mercy for our moments of failures. I confess to Almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do. Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I must bless a Maria Virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to life everlasting. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Let us pray. O God, who through your spirit raised up Saint Teresa of Jesus to show the church the way to seek perfection.

Grant that we may always be nourished by the food of her heavenly teaching and fired with longing for true holiness. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

Amen.

A reading from the letter of Paul to the Ephesians. From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God. To the saints who are in Ephesus and are faithful in Christ Jesus. Grace is to you, and peace is from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.

Before the foundation of the world, God chose us in Christ to be holy and blameless before Him in love. God destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of God's will. That is for the praise of his glorious grace that God freely bestowed on us in the beloved.

In Christ we have redemption through his blood, and the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and insight, God has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time to gather up all things in Christ things in heaven and things on earth.

The word of the Lord.

So you are witness and approve of the deeds of your ancestors, for they killed them, and you build their tombs. Therefore, also the wisdom of God said, I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and persecute, so that generations may be charged with blood of the prophets shed since the foundation of the world, from the blood of Abel and the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.

Yes, I tell you, I I would it will be charged against this generation. Woe to you, you lawyers, you for you have taken away the key of knowledge. You do not enter yourselves, and you hinder those who are entering. And when Jesus went outside, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be very hostile towards him and cross-examine him about many things, lying in wait for him to catch him in something he might say.

The gospel of the Lord. Now it was his first time there, and early on the morning of the gathering, he left his hotel and he went to mail a letter. He had no idea where the post office was. So he stopped this young boy who was delivering newspapers. Yes, they still did that back then, and he asked him his name and if he knew how to get to the post office.

Well, the boy said his name was Bobby, and he was happy to help. So he told the man, just go to the end of this street, turn left, and look for the big oak tree. Well, the preacher was so impressed by the kindness of the paper boy that he gave him a flyer to that night's meeting. And the revival was called Finding God in Heaven.

And he invited Bobby to come. Well, Bobby took a look at the uh handout and he gave it right back to him. And he said, No thanks. I won't be coming. Well, the preacher looked at the boy and he was a little astounded, and he asked him, Well, why not? And without missing a beat, the boy looked at him and he said, Listen, mister, how are you going to tell me how to find God in heaven when you don't even know where the post office is?

You see, finding our way to heaven is for many of us an overarching pursuit. And one of the ways that helps us in that pursuit, and one of the great blessings of being Catholic is the Church's dedication to the communion of saints. In a few weeks, on November 1st, we're going to celebrate the Feast of All Saints.

And after that, the Feast of All Souls, the true communion of saints. And today we remember one great saint, Saint Teresa of Jesus. Now that was her religious name. But many of us will know her as Saint Teresa of Avila, the place where she was born. She was only 20 years old when she entered the Carmelite Monastery of the Incarnation.

And during her time at the monastery, she had a profound spiritual conversion after suffering through a grave illness. According to accounts of her illness, Teresa endured severe pain throughout her body and many other symptoms. Her physicians reportedly considered her condition incurable. And she even entered into a four-day coma and experienced paralysis for more than two years.

This deepened and renewed her conversion as she discovered what would become the foundation of her teachings. Her spirituality centered on developing a personal friendship with Jesus through prayer, scripture, the sacraments, and contemplation. She described prayer as an intimate relationship with Christ rather than merely the recitation of words.

And this would become the central theme of her writings and her books. Teresa died in 1582, was canonized in 1622, and then, remarkably, in 1970, Pope Paul VI proclaimed her a saint as a doctor of the church, making her the first of two women, along with St. Catherine of Siena, to receive the title. In our gospel today, Jesus is speaking to the leaders of the day, and he says to them, Woe to all of you, woe to you lawyers, for you have taken away the key of knowledge.

You did not enter yourselves, and you hindered those who were entering. This passage finds Jesus challenging those in charge for closing the doors to the ordinary people, hiding the keys of knowledge. And to make matters worse, they didn't even use the knowledge themselves. They simply prevented others from knowing it.

Teresa offers a very different example. She sought to enter more deeply into God's truth and to help others discover the way to prayer, which is very much about opening the doors of faith so that all may enter. Her writings, especially the interior castle, the way of perfection, and the life, show us that.

Shows us many things. That God dwells first of all within our soul, that we are the beloved children of a loving God. In Ephesians today, St. Paul tells us that God destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ. Teresa tells us that prayer requires perseverance even when it feels dry or difficult.

The Daily TV Mass community is above all things a community of prayer. Day after day, thousands of you, thousands of people from around the world unite in this sacred devotion. Praying for God's grace. We pray for those that we love and for one another. This shared expression of prayer is really a prayer of perseverance in faith.

Teresa also teaches us that union with God must produce love and service. And we are called to live in kinship with others, especially the least of our brothers and sisters. So following this example of Teresa of Jesus, the humble nun from Avila, may we grow in prayer, deepen our friendship with our Savior and go out into the world in peace, glorifying the Lord by the way we choose to live our lives.

God bless us. So, brothers and sisters, trusting in God's love and mercy, let us offer our prayers for the church, for the world, and for all those in need. For all those whose names and intentions are recorded in the daily TV Mass Prayer Intentions book, that God may hear their prayers, comfort them in their needs, and strengthen them with his grace, we pray to the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray that during this month of the Rosary, families may gather in prayer, finding in it a source of strength, unity, and love for their daily lives. We pray to the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

For an increase in our prayer life, that following the example of St. Teresa of Avila, as we persevere in prayer, deepen our friendship with Jesus, and allow that friendship to bear fruit in loving service, we pray to the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

For all young people searching for faith, meaning, and direction, that Christ may open the doors of faith for them and lead them to companions who will help them discover his truth and love. We pray to the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

And for all the faithful departed, and for the souls in purgatory, that through the mercy of God they may be welcomed into the fullness of eternal life and rejoice with all the saints in heaven, we pray to the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Loving God, you're you call us into friendship with you and invite us to persevere in prayer. Hear the prayers we offer today and help us, following the example of Saint Teresa of Avila, to grow in faith and to serve one another with love. And we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you, fruit of the earth and work of human hands. It will become for us the bread of life. It will become a spiritual drink. May our offerings, O Lord, be acceptable to you, your majesty, to whom the devoted service of Saint Theresa was pleasing in such great measure through Christ our Lord.

Amen. The Lord be with you and with your spirit. Lift up your hearts to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God. For in the saints who consecrate themselves to Christ for the sake of the kingdom of heaven, it is right to celebrate the wonders of your providence by which you call human nature back to its original holiness and bring it to experience on this earth the gifts you promise in the new world to come.

And so with all the angels and saints we praise you, as without end we acclaim.

Holy holy, holy Lord God of hosts, heaven are full of your glory, who saw yes, blessed is who comes in the name of the Lord, Husan.

You are indeed holy, O Lord, and all you have created rightly gives you praise. For through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, by the power and working of the Holy Spirit, you give life to all things and make them holy, and you never cease to gather a people to yourself, so that from the rising of the sun to its setting, a pure sacrifice may be offered to your name.

Therefore, O Lord, we humbly implore you, by the same Spirit graciously make holy these gifts we have brought to you for consecration, that they may become the body and blood of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, at whose command we celebrate these mysteries. For on the night he was betrayed, he himself took bread, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you.

In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, once more giving thanks, gave the chalice to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it. For this is a chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins.

Do this in memory of me. Of faith.

Save us, Savior of the world, for by your cross and resurrection, you have set us free.

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of the saving passion of your Son, his wondrous resurrection and ascension into heaven, and as we look forward to your second coming, we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice. Look, we pray upon the ablation of your church, and recognizing the sacrificial victim by whose death you will to reconcile us to yourself.

Grant that we who are nourished by the body and blood of your Son and filled with the Holy Spirit may become one body, one spirit in Christ. May He make of us an eternal offering to you, so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect, especially with the most blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the Blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles and glorious martyrs, centeres of Jesus, and all the saints, on whose constant intercession in your presence we rely for unfailing help.

May this sacrifice of our consolation we pray, O Lord, advance the peace and salvation of all the world. Be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim church on earth with your servant Leo, our Pope, and Francis, our bishop, the order of bishops, all the clergy and the entire people you have gained for your own.

Listen graciously to the prayers of this family, whom you have summoned before you. In your compassionate, merciful Father, gather to yourself all your children scattered throughout the world. To our departed brothers and sisters, and to all who are pleasing to you at their passing from this life, give kind admittance to your kingdom.

There we hope to enjoy forever the fullness of your glory. Through Christ our Lord, through whom you bestow on the world all that is good. Through him and with him and in him. O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. Amen. At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallow be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us to say our delivery forever and forgive us our trespasses.

Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

For the kingdom, the power, the glory, and the rules now, now and forever.

Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever. Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you always.

Let's offer each other a sign of peace.

You take away the sins of the world. Have mercy on us. The Lamb of God. You take away the sins of the world.

Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but when you say the word on my souls I'll be healed.

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.

Let us pray. Grant, O Lord our God, that your obedient family, whom you have fed with the bread of heaven, may follow the example of Saint Teresa and rejoice to sing of your mercies for all eternity through Christ our Lord. The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.

Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life.

Thanks be to God.

Our thanks to our donor for the gift of this Mass.

We gather we saved the Father. We gather with Jesus His Lord. We gather in faith with the Spirit of God. We gather together with God.
