St. John XXIII said that the devotion to the memory of the dead is one of the most beautiful expressions of the Catholic spirit. During the month of November, the Daily TV Mass community will pray for all those listed in our book of remembrance. Please visit our website or email us the names of your loved ones to be included in the Daily TV Mass Book of Remembrance.

From the St. Ignatius Chapel at the Manresa Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Center in Pickering, Ontario. The National Catholic Broadcasting Council presents the Daily TV Mass.

Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I'm Father Peter Turoner. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contributions from three donors. The first is Noreen Crosby and family from Dom Mills, Ontario, a memory of her husband Richard, her cousin Mary, and for the deceased members of the O'Connor and Crosby families.

Also for Noreen's personal intentions and thanksgiving for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and for the souls in purgatory who have no one to pray for them. The second is a memory of Fazzi Razik of Egypt, beloved husband of Saba, devoted father of Amon, Amon, and Amir, father-in-law of Mira, Magdi and Diana, and cherished grandfather of Nafir, Mark, and Anne.

Fazi is deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. This mass is also offered for the living and deceased members of the Razik family. The third are Pamela and Michael Shaw and family from Mississauga, Ontario, and thanksgiving for blessings received, especially for the early and safe arrival of their great of their granddaughter, Rose Boyle, for a speedy recovery for their daughter, Tamara Boyle, and for a successful surgery for Michael.

Also for the people around the world who are facing uncertainty for all future intentions. And with special thanks to the Daily TV Mass community and staff for their prayers and support during this time. Our thanks to our donors for the gift of the Mass. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

And with your Spirit.

Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries. I confess to Almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, and in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault.

Therefore I ask Blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.

Amen.

Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.

Lord have mercy.

Let us pray. O God, who raised up Pope St. Callistus I to serve the church and attend devoutly to Christ's faithful departed. Strengthen us, we pray, by his witness to the faith, so that rescued from the slavery of corruption, we may merit an incorruptible inheritance. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.

unknown Amen.

A reading from the letter of Paul to the Galatians. If you are led by the Spirit, you are not subject to the law. Now the works of the flesh are obvious fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enemies, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, fractions, envy, drunkenness, carusing, and things like these.

I am warning you, as I warned you before, those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things, and those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. The Word of the Lord.

Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scuffers. But their delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law they meditate day and night. Those who follow you have the light of law. Which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not whit.

In all that they do, they prosper. Those who follow you, Lord, will have the light of life. The wicked are not so, but are like calf that the wind drives away. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will pay. Those who follow you Lord will have the light of Hallelujah Hallelujah.

My sheep listen to my voice as Lord. I know them, and they follow me.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke. The Pharisee who had invited Jesus to dinner was amazed to see that Jesus did not first wash before eating. Then the Lord said to him, Woe to you, Pharisees, for you tithe mint and roux and herbs of all kinds, and neglect justice and love of God. It is these you ought to have practiced without neglecting the others.

Woe to you, Pharisees, for you love to have the seat of honor in the synagogues, and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces. Woe to you, for you are like the unmarked graves, and people walk over them without realizing it. One of the lawyers answered him, Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us too.

And Jesus said, Woe also to you, lawyers, for you load people with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not lift a finger to ease them. The gospel of the Lord. My brothers and sisters, to be a Christian means to give one's life over completely to God and to receive the Holy Spirit inside of us.

And the presence of the Holy Spirit inside of us, as he continues to grow in the measure to which we abandon ourselves to him and seek to follow him and his promptings, leads us to experience what Paul says love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Now, all of these uh uh fruits are not necessarily present all together at once.

So we can experience uh them in different moments of our lives. Other times we struggle, but the spirit, the Holy Spirit gives us this freedom. Again, so it's not that we're just not avoiding sin, so we have these impulses to do what is wrong, and then the law is there to kind of curb that, remind us of the consequences, but the Holy Spirit, his presence is there really to inspire us to live this new life.

But what happens if you're living this life but then you fall? What happens if you're a Christian, you received baptism, you're trying to live the life, but because of past weaknesses or struggles or a moment of your life when things aren't going uh in the right way, you give in and you fall into any of the works of the flesh that Paul describes here in this letter.

Well, the church had to grapple with this in the beginning. And there was a debate, and today's memorial for St. Callistus, and we thank God for this great Pope martyr, helped to bring forward the importance of mercy. There was a debate. People said, okay, if you committed these sins, if you fell and committed these serious sins, and they are serious sins, they were making light of them saying, Well, they're not that they're not that bad.

No, no, these are serious sins. So we're saying, Well, you've committed these sins, so therefore there's no hope for you. There was no hope for you. Imagine that. So in a moment of weakness or whatever took place, there is no hope for you. So you're cut off from God, and there's no way you can ever be saved.

It's terrifying. You can see it in the lives of the saints, where they had moments, you know, leading up to their full conversion, but they were baptized, and maybe they didn't live their faith the way they could have, and they fell seriously. So for them, it would have been there's nothing left for us to do.

It's finished. Just go back and live the way you used to live. No hope and no mercy. But thank God for St. Callistus, he had a different understanding. He realized the gravity of the sins that had been committed, but he also realized, he said, look, there must be a way forward. There must be a way for people to actually do penance.

So you recognize that you've sinned, not making excuses, and then there's a path of penance, a serious path of penance, and then this person, once they've shown that they've reformed their life, then they can be readmitted to communion, to living within the life of the church. So this was St. Callistus, who is the one who we can thank, right, for allowing this to continue.

So the church took the path, chose the path of mercy. Again, this is not in the case for someone who goes back to living in sin, going back to a stable situation of grave sin. That's not what he's saying. So somebody was unfaithful, but then they go back to being faithful. They go back to being faithful.

So we have to change our circumstances. We have to go back now to living according to the logic of the gospel, which isn't easy, but it's beautiful. And we have this, again, all of this comes from God Himself. Jesus tells us in the gospel. He's speaking to the Pharisees, and he says, Woe to you, Pharisees, for you tithe mint and roux and herbs of all kinds, but you neglect justice and the love of God.

It is these you ought to have practiced without neglecting the others. So, what does that mean? So the Pharisees, right, there were many good Pharisees, but several of them were focusing on the secondary parts, the small things. They were fixated on those things. And by doing that, they thought that they were actually living the covenantal relationship with God.

But Jesus is saying, you know, that's it's it's good that you do that. You should do that. And then our love for God is expressed in big things and in little things, but there was something here that was missing. They weren't practicing mercy, they weren't practicing love of God. And justice is to give to God what is his due and our neighbor what is the right.

And in the same way that we want to experience the mercy of God when we mess up, we also owe it to our neighbor to offer mercy as well. And mercy is how we experience God's love. That's how we experience it. Think about, I just think about my own life, and I think about the blessing of being a priest and having many different people come to the church of different walks of life.

And so these are people that have were baptized as infants, and they had fallen away from the church for different reasons, and then they've had an experience of the mercy of God, they've come back and they want to live a new life. And this happens very often in RCIA. You can see this. And then people are realizing, let's say, oh, you know what, my life, you know, I I've I took the wrong path.

I want to follow Jesus now because I realize that the world has lied to me. And therefore, now I want to live my life for God, and I'm going to change my life. So could you imagine if St. Callistus had not made that decision and God had to use him to choose the path of mercy and to have a new way to come back to God?

I'd have to say to them, I'm sorry, it's too late for you. There's no hope. I can't imagine doing that. This is not what Jesus teaches us in the gospel, and nor do his saints teach us this as well. So we ask God, again, for the grace to live in the freedom of sons and daughters of God in the Spirit. We ask the Holy Spirit to be able to be fully present within us, to grow in us, and that we can also have not only self-control, but also profound mercy for those who have not, so that they can also come back, experience his mercy, and live a new life in the Spirit.

Let us bring our prayers to God who created the earth and its fullness. For the Holy Catholic Church, as it continues to speak out against all that would destroy human dignity, we pray to the Lord.

Lord hear our prayer.

For those whose lives are plagued by doubt and despair, that they may have God's grace to help them. We pray to the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

For all of those who feel like they are so far gone from God that there is no hope for repentance, that the Lord will put people in their path to lead them back to the truth. For this we pray to the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

For all those in our daily TV Mass Prayer Intentions book, we pray to the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

Let us pray that during this month of the Rosary, families may gather in prayer, finding in it a source of strength, unity, and love for their daily lives. We pray to the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

God of heaven and earth, you reward those with clean hands and pure hearts and our unworthiness. We bring our prayers to you through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Fruit of the earth and the work of human hands, will become for us the bread of life. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you, fruit of the vine, a work of human hands, you'll become our spiritual drink.

Wash my Lord in my inequities, cleanse me from all my sins.

Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.

May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the Lord.

Sanctify our offerings by your blessing, O Lord, we pray, and by your grace, may we be set afire with that flame of your love through which St. Callistus overcame every bodily torment. Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

The Lord be with you. Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right and just it is truly right and just.

Our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks. Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God, for the blood of your blessed Martyr Callistus, brought out like poured out like Christ's to glorify your name, shows forth your marvelous works, by which in our weakness you perfect your power, and on the feeble bestow strength to bear you witness to Christ our Lord.

And so, with the powers of heaven, we worship you constantly on earth, and before your majesty without end, we acclaim.

Holy holy, holy Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts we pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewful, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion. He took bread and giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it.

For this is my body which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins.

Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith.

Save us, Savior of the world, for by your cross and resurrection, you have set us free.

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo, our Pope, and Francis, our bishop, and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy.

Welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, our spouse, with the blessed Apostle St. Callistus, and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through him and with him and in him, O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. At the Savior's command, informed by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Relief, my power, and the glory are yours now and forever.

Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of our church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever.

Amen.

The peace of the Lord be with you always.

And with your spirit.

Let us offer each other the sign of peace. Peace, peace, peace.

Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world. Have mercy on us Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world. Grant us peace.

Behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.

Give us that determination which made your blessed Martyr Callistus faithful in your service and victorious in suffering. Through Christ our Lord. The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.

Amen. Go in peace.

Thanks be to God.
