The lead on Scavenger Hunt continues. Olivia and Addison have found three clues. Clue number one was in Olivia's library book. Clue number two was at the hospital behind a plaque. And clue number three was under the school gym stage. How it survived for 40 years? Well, that tells you a lot about how well the cupboard under the stage is cleaned. Let's join Olivia and Addison as they continue their hunt. it will lead them to the heart of Discovery Mountain in today's episode called In Plain Sight.
Read the clue one more time, Addison.
Okay, here it is. Look where Discovery Business is noticed and posted.
Discovery Business. So, town business?
I think so.
Would it be the mayor's office?
Well, that's where official town business happens. Lead on.
Let's try the mayor's office.
The door's locked. Yeah, closed.
I guess Mr. Simon isn't here.
Nah, he's at Trecker's. Trecker's! Of course! That's where the real town business happens.
Let's go. Hi, Gadget. Who's a good boy?
Now, where would a 40-year-old clue be hiding? I don't know.
Mr.
Simon keeps trekkers spotless. I mean, look at these floors.
Admiring my shiny wood floors?
Yes. Hi, Mr. Simon.
Mr.
Simon, you can help us. You remember 1986, right?
Uh, yes, I do.
Why?
We found a flyer for a scavenger hunt that the youth group did in 1986.
Well, how nostalgic.
And guess what? We found three of the clues.
From 40 years ago? That's incredible.
Do you remember the scavenger hunt? You could help us with this clue.
Oh, I don't remember a scavenger hunt from 1986. That's too bad.
Here's the clue.
That paper and font sure looks like the 80s. It's dusty.
We found it under the school stage.
Oh, my. Well, let's see. Look where Discovery Business is noticed and posted.
Business happens here. Oh, Gadget wants to see it.
He wants to smell it. Here you go, boy.
Aw, he's leading us.
To Mr. Simon's office, Gadget?
Well, may as well follow.
That is where business happens.
Gadget!
Gadget!
You led us right to your food bowl.
Oh, Gadget, you're hungry.
I'll fill up the bowl. Now, post it. Do you think they meant the postal mail slots?
Oh, can we look?
Be my guest.
These mail slots are old. Probably original to the store.
Yeah, but run your finger over the wood.
Not a speck of dust.
There's no chance any piece of paper has sat here for 40 years.
Where discovery business is noticed and posted. Why noticed? Why that word?
Noticed. Like people see it. Notice it.
Noticed.
Noticed.
Ah, that's what bulletin boards are called sometimes. Notice boards.
Oh, the trucker's bulletin board by the front door.
Lead on.
This bulletin board is covered.
Oh, look.
There's a pet sitting ad from Kayla. From 2015. Aw.
And your dad's business card for the barbershop.
Oh.
You look like he's a teenager. Almost.
There's a lot of old paper on here, but I'm not seeing a clue.
Me neither. And it's not taped behind either.
No luck? Nah. That bulletin board has been there for years. It was a good guess.
For how many years, Mr.
Simons? Oh, late 90s, I'd guess.
Late 90s? Mr.
Simon, what happened to the bulletin board you had here in the late 80s?
Oh, that's hanging in my office. Yes, right above your food bowl, Gadget. Gadget was leading you to it.
Whoa, this bulletin board is ancient.
I hung it there when I got the new one and haven't looked since.
Oh, look. A bulletin for the Harmony Corner Church. From 1979.
A receipt from a train trip in 1982. Mr. Simon, this is a historical archive.
Well, I suppose it is.
And, oh, Olivia, look.
Oh, Gadget, you knew it all along. It's the fourth clue.
Well, what does it say?
Mr. Simon, you read it. It's been in your office for 40 years.
My, my. And you two helped me find it. All these memories right in front of my eyes.
Glad to help.
Clue number four. It says, the last clue. Look where 100 have sung, praising the one.
Ah, the one. Spelled with a capital O.
Oh, like for God.
Yes, that's a good clue. What a great team you two are. You three are. Sorry, Gadget.
We're having fun helping each other. Now, there can only be one place this last clue leads.
Let's go. Oh, Mr. Simon, Gadget, come with us.
Oh, no.
I have treasures on this bulletin board to enjoy. Some comforting memories.
Okay. Enjoy, Mr. Simon. Addison, the hunt continues.
Lead on.
Another clue found and the last clue in the old scavenger hunt. Olivia and Addison have worked well together and catch it really helped. They've observed their surroundings and found clues and more.
Mr.
Simon had a bulletin board full of memories in his office and he hadn't even noticed it.
He described them as comforting.
And that reminds me of this verse from 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 and verse 11. Therefore, comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing. This scavenger hunt is drawing people together and leading them to exercise their faith. I wonder if that was the intention 40 years ago. We'll find out next time.
