Welcome back to Gil's Arena, presented by Polymarket and powered by Playmaker. We started pre-show with a very interesting discussion that we're going to bring to the show very shortly. It should be very entertaining and amusing on this glorious Friday. Here in the arena. I'm merely a host. Y'all buckle up. Hey, tell your friends, cousins, uncles, aunties, side boos, mains, come on to the show today because it's going to be an entertaining one. I'm merely a host, Josiah Johnson. I'm here with NBA legend, 2K Uncle Badges, Theater King, and non-Zendaya, Gilbert Arenas.

And silk pants, silk pants.

Silk pants. Don't get them wet.

Everybody is called goaded. I'm goaded now.

Don't get them pants wet.

2K just dropped season two, and I'm one of the goat features.

For real?

Greatest of all time. That's what GOAT means, right? So once I have my cat breakers.

In what game?

I'm going to be better than Curry and Magic.

In two games?

Yeah.

That is impressive.

So tell your sons, fuck with me.

You know what? No, no, no.

You got C2 plans on, man.

Tell him to pick Clay Thompson.

I can see your drawers right now.

I can see you right now.

I can't believe.

You're trying to sex play me right now. Goat it. Goat it, baby.

I'm goating, baby. We got NBA champion of the world, Swaggy P. Nick Young. Corner there, too. Elite corner. Corner with freedom.

A corner by many names, but a corner all the same. Yeah, on the corner.

On the corner.

Oh, yeah, I was right, too.

I picked Bronco yesterday.

I was right.

Yeah.

Broncos. And they won?

Yeah, they did.

The defense was good.

We got a former college player of the year, number two overall pick, played 10 seasons in the league, Evan Turner, back here with us. Yeah.

I was playing a year, 10 years.

How many of you played? Five or something like that?

What? Six years? I played 10 years.

You did?

That's it? That's it, yeah. How many you play, Nick? Oh, just a little 12.

Ooh.

A little 12.

I like that.

One of the most important corners in the NBA.

Don't say nothing.

Don't say nothing. I'm going to say it. I mean, you're throwing it out there. Don't say nothing.

Okay.

All right.

You already know I'm going to go.

Can I have this?

You can have it. Okay. Let me have it.

I was going to give it to you. That was easy.

You threw that lob quick.

Corner Hall of Fame. It's on the corner of the regular Hall of Fame. But we got a lot of things to discuss. Here's what's cracking in the arena today. Allen Iverson says he would give up all of his accolades for a championship ring. But is the answer spitting or tripping? He did. Yes, he did, Swaggy. That's what him said. D. Wade says LeBron can't be anything but an alpha. But whose team is the Sixers heading into this season? And SGA looking to make more history while getting the Thunder back to the mountaintop. But where does the back-to-back MVP rank amongst the best scoring guards in league history? Career's still not finished, but he has a very, very impressive resume, so we will discuss. But mostly fans,

back for our Super Chat. Throw something in the offering plate. Drop your questions. Help us help you. You guys have been asking great questions, sufficiently funding our offering plate. So keep it going. We'll pick something to answer at the end of the show. This may be the last week that we're doing the Super Chat, mostly fans.

Gil, right?

Yeah.

Season started, so we starting our season shit. We got seasonal. That was pre-seasonal. Mostly fans. We got seasonal mostly fans coming up. But, hey, I need to tell y'all about this new sports trading app I discovered. It's called Polymarket. It's the most exciting way to trade in sports, and it's a nationwide, federally regulated prediction market. Polymarket is the best prediction market, better than Couchy, DraftKings, and FanDuel. In the past, if you wanted a position on a game, you'd put your money in and get locked in until the very end. But Polymarket lets you trade games like you would a stock, buying in and selling out entirely on your terms. When your team drops to 20 cents, you buy the dip. And when they jump to 40 cents,

you sell, lock in your gains, and double your money without waiting for the final whistle. And it isn't just sports. You can trade on culture, news, and current events. Plus, they have a squads feature where you can talk and trade with your friends. Any trade a member places drops right into the chat as a card. And anyone can hit buy to take that same pick in one tap.

Ditch the old limitations and trade on your terms. Download the Polymarket app and use code ARENA. And when you deposit just $ 10, you'll unlock $ 25 in bonus funds. That's code ARENA to get $ 25 in bonus funds when you deposit $ 10 on Polymarket. And shout out to all of our Twitches out there. Where are my Twitches at? Gil's Arena on Twitch now. If you're watching the show on Twitch, make sure you subscribe to the at Gil's Arena show channel.

And we appreciate y'all for all the subs. and all the love. So we're going to get right to it. Like I said, it's going to be a very interesting day here in the arena. So let's get loose. Let's get stretched out. Let's get ready to get it. Allen Iverson, one of the most legendary guards in NBA history. During his 14-season Hall of Fame career, he was an MVP, 11-time All-Star, seven-time All-NBA selection, four-time scoring champ, three-time Steel's champ, Rookie of the Year, and member of the prestigious 75th anniversary team. AI made an appearance on Lou Will and Spank Horton's Underground Lounge Instead, he would give up all of those accolades for one thing.

One of the knocks about, you know, with me in life is like not winning a championship, right? You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I would give my MVP trophy back.

You know what I mean?

All-stars and first-team all, you know what I mean?

Top 75, all that, man, I would give it back for a championship.

That's crazy. Iverson also said he wishes he didn't even go to the finals because of the physical and mental toll it took on his body while getting so close to that mountaintop but not reaching the peak. So, Evan, we're going to start with you. What's your reaction to Allen Iverson saying he would give up all of his accolades for just one championship?

I mean, this is personal choice. I wouldn't do it at all, but.

I don't know.

I mean, maybe, obviously, it's probably stuck with him, you know, for so long. But I think everything that he would trade in, I guess, for kind of, you know, Iverson was such a big part of the game.

He was impactful.

He was a culture icon. He was a giant, you know, a little man amongst giants, but he was a giant himself. So I don't really see, you know, how that can really occur. I think sometimes winning championships and basketball and, you know, those series wins, a lot of intangibles and, Other things go into that, and Shaq and Kobe forming one of the most dominant duos ever alongside an unbelievable supporting cast that the Lakers had. I mean, compared to what, two all-stars possibly that the Sixers had? It just didn't make any sense. I think it was amazing that he was able to average 30, go up against that team, and win game one. But I would never trade all what I did for to be the 15th man and touch a piece of a trophy, you know?

A.I. averaged 31 points per game that year, was an MVP. Yeah.

All-star, obviously, All-NBA. Played 42 minutes a game.

Whew. But that's, you know, that's why everybody respect and love A.I. He's a realist. He's a real person, like, the mentality, you know? A lot of people, he ain't too proud to say he hurt him and won a championship. That's all it be. A lot of people did a lot of things and that just be in the back of their head that they never won.

I feel like you play the game to win.

If A.I. would have won, I feel like there's no denying he's won, really. Even after Steph, to me, I know people put him at shooting guard.

Yeah, because that's what he played.

Yeah. He was a small guard, though, combo guard. It was like the original combo guard. AI is what, 6'2, 6'3? That's what I'm saying. It's hard for me to put him in a shooting guard thing. But even after Steph won, the first two, it was hard for people to put him over AI. He's a GOAT, man. He's just keeping it real. You see the mentality of wanting to win.

Somebody that got MVP, you can't take all his greatness away. He changed the game, his culture. the culture of the game with the braids, the tattoos, the legendary crossover on Jordan.

I think it's kind of like a contradiction because during the flow of it, it's like he never, shout out to Ayok, he's a GOAT and he's one of the best ever. When Team USA came down, he's like, if I'm not one of the top 12 in the world, he was huge on not coming off the bench ever. So I feel as though somebody that didn't want to come off the bench in certain areas of his career where it would come down to sacrifice, I don't know if you would equally say there would be conducive with sacrificing everything you had just to be part of a championship team.

That's why I'm not paying attention to this. It has nothing to do with Allen Iverson himself.

What do we have to do with it?

Reality.

What's reality?

Reality is I will give up everything for a ring. Okay, so you're going to give up the Hall of Fame.

We just told you.

I'm going to read what he's given up for the ring.

Hall of Fame, 11-time All-Star, four-time scoring title, three-time champ, seven-times All-NBA, rookie, all-rookie team, rookie of the year, two-time MVP, MVP, 75th anniversary to be Adam Morrison. Then we don't even know who you are. We're not even interviewing you.

I'm just talking to Adam Morrison. He has two rings with the Lakers.

We didn't even know he was on a team you can That's the guy you want to be we don't know you We don't know who you are you don't exist There's a hundred people. There's two hundred two thousand people with a ring. We don't know I understand what you're trying to say and you will give up some of these accolades to still be a Hall of Famer to have your ring. But you're saying you'll give it all up, then we don't know who you are. You're just a nigga on the side of the bench winning the ring. So you're not even adding some more.

He was top four. You would be.

A bottom-end pick. You're on the bench. You won the ring.

You go home. You're not in the league.

Okay. The guy with the MVP said he'd give it up to him.

No, no, that's what I'm saying. But he's giving up the MVP. We don't know him.

He's not, he wouldn't be, he wouldn't be.

A top great. He ain't somebody that's saying he don't, like, he got an MVP. He ain't, like, he got the MVP.

Not if he's giving up.

He don't have nothing. I know, but I'm saying he got it, an MVP, and he said he'd give it up.

I understand what you're saying.

Like, other people said they'd take an MVP over a ring.

Again, it's all fake.

Somebody said they'd take an MVP over a ring. He got the MVP and said, I'll trade it in.

It's fake. None of it can be proven. But what I'm saying is.

How is it fake if it's out of something?

Nigga, because he can't do it.

So I'm saying, hey, if you're going to give it all up for the ring, you got to give it all up.

Which means we don't know the answer.

There's no answer.

We don't know you. Like, you know... We don't know the answer. I know what he's saying.

We can say anything that can't happen.

I would give up my house for NBA ring.

Nigga, it ain't going to happen.

I'm going to wrestle your pride.

I can say whatever I want.

I'm just saying, if we're going to put this to the test in reality, reality is you're saying... Not you give up some of your accolades, or I'll give up going to the finals for him, or I'll give up my.

MVP for him. He's not saying I'll give up my MVP.

He's saying I will give up all my accolades. It means you're a 15th player. You're probably on a one-year deal. You're probably a different.

What's the name? I get it.

And you're going to be able to re-release that same documentary every two years.

Yeah, there's no Allen Iverson. There's no shoes.

There's no nothing. You're just a regular dude.

Yeah, that was aggressive to say.

That's what I'm saying. I'm going off of what he's saying.

You play the game to win a championship.

You're not playing.

Yeah, but you have a style to also play. I'm just saying in the midst of it, when it came down, you're saying you're going to trade all that. In the midst of it, you didn't even want to come off the bench.

But he wants to win. He wants to win. His mentality is about winning.

What I'm saying is you're giving up you.

The same person, if we get to erase who Allen Iverson was and then give.

Him a ring.

He'd be Rick Brunson.

Not even regret.

There's 90 niggas on the Bulls.

How about everybody who played on the Bulls?

We don't know none of them.

He'll be fulfilled.

Huh? He'll be happy. No, no, no, no, no.

He won't be happy because he has to live that life.

He just said he would change it all in.

No, I know what he said because he's still Allen Iverson.

How you going to change what he's saying?

He said it. It would just be Allen then?

Why would he just be Alec as he was?

Are you not listening to what I'm saying?

No. I get it.

You have your play. It's different than playing in June.

I'll let you finish.

No, it's different. I get it.

I get y'all hurt that y'all been talking all this.

Oh, man, MVP.

Yeah, man, all this shit don't mean nothing. But a guy that got an MVP in everything y'all say... said he had traded all the wins to get a ring.

You're going to trade your icon, everything you built for a stupid... Not saying a trophy, but there's a winner every single year. There's only one Iverson. What he's able to do, the timing, that was crazy.

It's easy in life to sit at the top and say, you know what? I'll give this up for that. But in reality... You're not sitting at the top. In reality, yeah, you're sitting. We know who you are. You can walk anywhere on this planet. It's Allen Iverson, braids, Allen Iverson, tattoos, Reebok. He is an icon man. But the words are saying you would give it all up for a ring to be one of the bulls.

Michael Jordan won six rings, right?

He won six.

There's people that won one on that team.

Nobody knows him. So you're not giving.

It's the idea of I would want to give up something, but I still want to beat Allen Iverson because he wants.

To be there.

You can't be there. If you give up your whole existence to a ring, you're not there.

That's not your pinnacle.

You're not with them.

If you want to give up an MVP for the ring, yeah, that puts you there. But you want to give up all your accolades? Nigga, that puts you... You're not there.

Nigga, he's not even you.

How come A.I. ain't on the wall? I got to build it more.

But I'm saying he's not even you with a ring. He's beneath you in reality. I'm giving up everything. I'm giving up 18 points a game. I'm giving up everything. I'm just going to be one of the dudes that's on the end of the bench. So he's not even in this category.

And another thing, how do he become the end of the bench guy? Because he said he'd give it all up to win a ring.

I'm giving it all up. That's all accolades.

You have no accolades.

You have no accolades, brother. You're a champion. So, yeah, you're just a champion. You're Adam Morrison, right? Did you know Adam Morrison got two rings?

Did you know?

I knew because I liked Adam, but I was aware.

Yeah, he's got two rings.

I was always like, who's that random nigga on the bench?

You know what I mean? Random nigga on the bench. He's got two rings. Nah, but shut up.

Now ask him, will he trade that in to be a star player?

Or to be a cultural icon. A cultural icon. Not to say, Iverson, some people are bigger than basketball, though, bruh.

That won a ring.

No, no, your ring is the icon part, brother.

Iverson's bigger than the ring.

You can't have both is what we're trying to say.

I know, he don't care about the other shit.

Iverson is bigger than the ring, bro. Iverson's bigger than the ring. And obviously, that ring is bigger than Iverson.

Like, everybody... There's no Iverson, brother. It ain't, because he ain't got a ring. His goal is to win a ring.

Everybody want to win a ring.

Are you listening to what we're saying?

I'm listening. I'm listening to what he's saying, not what you're saying.

You're giving him Allen Iverson that we know, and you're adding a ring, which means he is one of the greats. Him, Kobe, they're fighting for the greats. But he's saying, I'm giving it all. I will give it all up.

So you're just a guy. Yeah, you're nobody. You're not even competing with nobody.

He's the champion.

He'd be right here.

Nobody's going to know. Why would he be there? That's what I'm saying.

I get what you're saying. Always invited to give us a hand. Like you said, I'm going to give up an MVP. I'm going to give up that for a lot. Yeah, that makes sense.

But I'm not going to give up a lot. As a champion, how do you feel about this whole discussion?

I love it.

This has made me just so, oh, man.

What's the championship mentality in terms of this?

That right there, it's just like... I've been winning in life, bro.

I'm a winner, bro.

Can I say something?

You know what the problem is? And this is the, they don't, he don't believe what he's saying.

And that's the problem.

He will give, he will give that ring back for, he will give that ring back to be a starter that season.

1,000%. He know he would.

Swag, yeah.

He done said it a hundred times. You wildin', bro.

Y'all don't know what it feels like to play in June when everybody's watching.

Not if you not playing, dog.

I don't want to go to.

June and I'm a 12th nigga on the bench. I'm going to keep it 1,000%. It's going to be a long-ass year.

We already had this conversation.

I'm going to ask you right now in front of everybody.

I may want the whole world seeing me sit down.

Remember, you get to say whatever the fuck you want to say. We can't prove it. We can't prove it. You get your ring back. You give your ring back and you get to continue your career for the next five, six, ten years.

As a starter.

Yeah, as a starter playing who you was playing or you win that ring and you end up where you're destined to be.

Let me ask you this, Swaggy. Would you give your ring up to have Allen Iverson's career? I swear to God.

No, he just said that.

That's why you're a champion.

Y'all really don't know what it feel like to win.

Nigga, I know what.

What.

Are you talking about, bro?

Being a champion, that shit lasts forever, bro. It's going to be on my tombstone. Nick Young champion. For you, it was just going to say another nigga passing by.

That's all.

Just another nigga passing by.

Me?

This is crazy, bro.

He forgot that we've been friends for a long time.

I know Nick, too.

I remember him that summer when season started.

Oh, man.

Fuck that freak, man. I want my motherfucking season back.

I know you would. I should have went to motherfucking so I could have been a starter.

Huh?

I don't remember none of that.

I know you don't.

It was COVID, bro. It was COVID.

That was fucking COVID.

Bro, you wild, man. And just for Iverson, bro. I'm just saying, Iverson's bigger. Like, he shouldn't have any survivors or any regret because he's bigger in the game. He's an icon, and he's a lot of people's childhood, bro. I would not trade anything for how heavy of an impact he had on a game of basketball, bro, and on a culture as a black athlete.

It goes unwritten. Like, come on, bro. It's not even close.

Does it be never heard of? To be never heard of?

Yeah, like, come on, bro.

I mean, we needed Iverson, bro.

Plus it's over. That shit hurt, bro.

Like, when you know you can't win. I tried.

That shit hurt. Like, if I lost to Kobe and Shaq, I kind of understand, man. Aaron McKee struggled with Kobe and Dikembe. I got 18 stitches to the lip.

A lot of people are okay with that.

Like if he said, I'll give up my four.

Bro, this man Nick, bro.

Like if he said, yo, I'll give up my four scoring titles for the ring.

Yeah, okay. All right.

You don't need all four.

Or them all defensive teams.

I don't need all four of these.

You know what I mean?

I give up two of these for the ring. I give up my regular season MVP for a championship. See, if he said that.

That's cool.

That's what he said. That's what he led with. Yeah. Oh, I thought he said he'd give up all of them. He said he started listing all of his accolades, but he started with that MVP.

Oh, okay.

MVP.

He didn't give up anything. I give up my MVP for the ring coming from him. Yeah, because that MVP doesn't put him there. But you take the MVP away and you give him the ring as a lead guard, that puts him in that category. So the finals MVP holds more weight than the regular. The championship and the finals MVP. He gets the championship.

What is the finals?

When you hold that trophy with that finals MVP?

The platinum people are number one options that led the team to rings.

That's what number one is. Under them is Allen Iverson.

That's what's under.

Oh, happy day. So it doesn't matter about a ring or not.

It gives him that platinum status. So right now, his gold status, him, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley. So they're saying, I'll give up the regular season MVP for the championship so I can be on that platinum level.

Because at that time, he'd be right next to Isaiah Thomas. It's still like the greatest little guards of all time.

Man, Isaiah don't have a ring.

I mean, an MVP.

So he's saying shit.

Like, if he's considered who he is, I'll give my MVP a full ring.

Fuck that.

You're not lying.

Isaiah got two of them.

Yeah, and he did it during the Celtics-Lakers era. We spoke on him and kept Jordan there.

Hey, wait.

You got James on there without having AI on there?

That's his name, bro. That's crazy.

No, no, no.

Okay, all right. You finished?

Oh, I forgot.

He made you fall.

Who?

AI.

He made me fall.

It wasn't you? I guarded Eric Snow, bro.

Oh, it was Daniel.

It was Daniel.

It was Daniel. It was Daniel.

So it was the eras, the people in the era. So Michael Magic Bird, Cole, Shaq, Duncan, and then the big three of them.

So I just did the eras. But I wanted to make a smaller so I could put more people. AI, Penny, you know.

Penny.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I don't have, you see, I don't.

Have Will and all them, them old things up there. Will and all them other old inwards. Yeah, my shit started in the 80s.

Okay. So it starts with Magic and Bird.

I appreciate that. I'm like David Stern. No idea, neither.

I'm starting with David Stern.

No idea, neither, though. Damn, I don't know.

It's three. When you talk about the 80s.

You said Shaq. You said, I mean, Magic and Bird.

Magic and Bird.

Yeah, I did.

Magic, Jordan, Bird.

The 80s was built on.

A.I. was in that.

Kobe, Shaq. And then the next one, Kobe.

You see, it's three. Three. A.I.

Kobe, Shaq, Duncan.

I don't know.

It would be four. Like, I don't have D.

Wade.

That's what I said. I want to put more.

Okay.

So I know who wouldn't be up there.

Who?

Allen Iverson with a ring and no accolades.

Why are them guys four, though? Like, why are them the one, two, three? Because of the rings, right? Them four? They were the best players in that era.

In the 2000s?

Even Shaq, with just the six seasons he played, he dominated it. Duncan was a 10, 10, 10 guy. Duncan was a 10, 10, 10 guy.

10 all-stars.

10 all-eighties. Because it started in the 80s, the chat wants to know, no Dr. J on the wall. Is that the reason? Was he bigger than... I went three people. I'm just saying, but it started in the 80s, so Dr. J more heavy. In the 70s. In the 70s or early 80s.

I'm just saying 80s, is he better than Magic?

30 guys are sticklers for Dr. J's skill set.

No, but I'm saying, is he better than Magic, Bird, or Jordan in the 80s? I don't know.

But when I expand, niggas, when I expand the list again, I'm adding the fours and the fifths.

But you thought, too, Duncan, Shaq, and Kobe was the best in that era.

Yeah.

For sure.

Duncan came in first team all NBA.

Yeah, first team. And then he's the only, like, to be honest, he can say, hey, I am the decade of 2000s. 2000 and 2010, 99. Who?

Duncan.

Who?

Because he was 10-time All-NBA, 10-time All-Star, 10-time All-Defense.

He's the only.

He swept.

He had a dynasty.

He had like a four... He.

Had five rings. Four rings.

Four rings during that time. And he gave it up to.

2010. How many did he win? He got four?

Mm-hmm.

And he should have had an extra ring. They lost to Brian on some goofy shit and came back.

He's got three rings.

So, 03, 05, 2007.

03, 05.

But it's 99. The decade is 2000.

So, 99, 2000 season. So, it was a 98, 99 season when he won it.

Okay, so it was 99, 2000 season.

Till 09 season. So, that's how a decade is. And then he went again. So, yeah, he has three.

He's being nice to him, pecking order, like, all right, I ain't the man no more, Tony. You know what I mean? For that next generation. But very impressive accolade. Shout out to Tim Duncan. I always say Tim top five to me.

He's the only one that just, like, when you say.

What would make him better then? Like, I thought it was, like, stats and all that. Like, his stats is not better than A.I.'s.

Two MVPs.

But four scoring titles, one MVP, all that.

I mean, you can argue it. I mean, it's one of those things you can argue.

All right, well, we heard the TMAC KD side of things. So KD said that he thought MVP carried more weight than a championship. TMAC co-signed that. Now we hear the AI side saying, fuck that, I'll give that up. They give up everything. You got to say everything. Not just the MVP.

If he's just giving the MVP, then I got it.

I stick with the context. You know what I mean?

I'm not going to just pretend he's saying something. I stick with the context. Whatever the context is saying.

Somebody should have been like, man, nah, you don't say that. You don't want to say that.

I'm just saying, do you just mean MVP?

Okay, if you just mean MVP.

Okay, cool. But if you're talking about everything, come on, man.

I don't want to be a sass there that long. You ain't listening to that, bro. He gave it all up.

All right, so let's talk about another part. It wasn't in that clip, but A.I. basically said, would you give up your son for MVP? Come on, I want to see how much, what kind of winning.

You said for MVP? Yeah, would you be like, no, no, no, no.

For a championship? For another championship. Back to back, you could be a back to back. You could be Adam Morrison.

I give up all of them, motherfucker.

You give up all your kids to be out of abortion.

We learn something new every day. Pop them off. Keep them.

We learn something new every day here at Gil's Arena. So part of the clip that we didn't hear from that interview was basically AI saying that he would have rather not made it to the finals because of the physical mental toll it took on his body playing those 100 games, getting so close to reaching the championship and not getting there. But question for you guys. We'll start with our resident NBA champion first. Swaggy, would you rather make it to the finals and lose or lose in the first round?

I'd rather lose in the first round than make it all the way and lose.

That shit hurt because when I was in.

The game seven.

I was in that drip, man. Hey, can you get him his wine?

I'm not doing this bullshit. Can you get him the wine?

Nah. We're not doing this.

We're not doing this. I'd rather.

Nah, because when I was playing in the game seven in the Western Conference Finals, I was nervous.

Let go of him first. Let you get your little wine. And then you just redo that.

Just say that. Just try that.

Nah, because you don't understand the feeling. Like, I was in the game seven Western Conference Finals. I was, like, nervous and shit. Like, damn, I came here. I'm going to be the bad luck if we lose and shit. I'd rather just be like the Wizards when I lost with Gil and I could just get the fuck on. You don't feel this bad. First round, we got our ass with Mike Cleveland. They just shipped their cars off and went to L.A. When you really playing and invested in something, that shit hurt.

It really take a toll on you.

But once we got over the hump in the game seven, I would never, you know. know what that feel like to lose in the championship game. So I don't know my right or wrong answer. It could be get to the finals and make it.

So Swaggy, perfect finals record in your career, just like Michael Jordan?

You never know. That's for the people that never experienced. That's the question for them. All right, let's shift over.

Evan, would you rather make it to the finals and lose or lose in the first round?

Make it to the finals and lose, 1,000%.

Just to be able to get close to that. Yeah, just competing, man.

Like I said, basketball is a game of runs, and thankfully it's not like a one-game elimination series, but even if you look at the finals last year, sometimes you can leave a game and not scream the analytic part, but you can leave a game and be like, damn, we were good enough to win, and I feel like you can get confidence from that. A bad bounce, a bad layup, a bad shot could stick with you forever, but you're still amongst some of the top in the world as opposed to Being home early and then, you know, obviously learning and, you know, getting that experience once again to climb that mountain and that stamina to do so, the endurance. I feel like that's necessary.

Let's move on to the namesake of our show, Gil's Arena. Presented by Polymarket Powered by playmaker Woo Woo. I lost in the first round before.

I went all the way to the NCAA championship and lost in the championship. The championship hurt because... That's how good you were. Losing in the first round, you was a fucking loser. Because whoever eighth seed is, they not even in that round.

You had to be there. They just playing, I'm trying to hurry up and get the fuck home.

Right?

So, Saying that you have a chance to go to the championship and come in second place and be the second best team in the NBA that season or don't even make it?

I don't even know how that's even debatable.

If we're racing, that's gold.

I'm silver. And you say you were not even placed to be at the Olympics?

I don't know.

I think France losing to the USA, it hurts.

But I think they'll pick that over not even making it or being the first ones out.

I'm on the same thing. When you compete and you're able to look at what you're able to go back and go to drawing board, if I came in second, I'm like, that was damn near a fluke they got me.

You know what I mean?

I'm happy to come in second.

No, I'm happy to be towards the top and literally be in a conversation as opposed to you to AC. I've been to AC. I've been there and you see Fox and TNT doing features for the second round. Do you know how match play that is?

It's crazy.

That's what I'm saying, bro. You much rather do that than be 1-16. It don't fucking matter.

People really actually.

Believe that I'd rather lose in the first round than go all the way.

To the finals.

That's, man, too easy on him, bro.

Let me see who lost in the first round last year.

Who did the Blazers play?

The Blazers played the Spurs.

Okay, so you'd rather be the Blazers than the Spurs.

Hello.

Who lost in the finals last year?

So the Spurs played the Blazers. The Spurs was one, Blazers eight.

Two, I believe. Two and seven.

Okay, that's even better.

They played each other in the first round.

So we know who lost in the first round because we know who was in the finals. So you said you would rather be the Blazers than the Spurs.

A team that could have possibly won the championship. It was up every game. Not saying it matters, but up every single game. And then you could take that and see what's going to happen this year.

Losing is losing.

Nah, bro.

It's not.

It is. It's not at all.

That's like saying, would.

You rather get a B or an F?

Nigga, give me my B. Nah, we all didn't get A's, but nigga, I don't want an F.

That's like calling Jerry West a loser. Went to 12 finals and it's like, damn, my bad.

You know what I'm saying?

They do.

They call LeBron a loser for going to nine, right?

That's all they bring up.

That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard.

Yeah. And that's stupid.

Who's calling him that?

Yeah.

The dudes online.

Our chat. A good proportion of our chat feels that way, Gil.

Shout out to the chat, man.

I don't even want to win.

Hey, kill second place off. So it's either win it or just we all going to lose.

But that is this era. If you're not first, you're last, Gil.

But that's the thought process. If you're not first, you're last. But they want to be last, last. All right, well, one more question, kind of in the same range. You know what this era is? And I see it from a lot of people. A lot of the new generation don't actually like the idea of competition.

At all. Right? So let's say we go into 100, right?

And we're battling 98, like we're there.

If we're in the 90s, they don't want to lose at a buzzer or that last shot.

So they'll rather say, you know what? I'm going to just take it right here. Miss all my shots. So it's like it's this gap. So I don't feel too bad.

Like running the race.

I see him catching me. So you can go and win. So I can keep saying, oh, this is the reason.

Right.

A lot of people do that.

They'll rather give up totally, let the person win it, so they can have an excuse on why they didn't win it. Because they don't want to compete for those last sort of inches.

Yeah, that's why participation wars ring. Or, like, being able to draft. Like, a lot of kids, they say, I'd rather be second. You don't mind second if you were picked last. Like, you understand what I'm saying? Now it's just a hypothetical conversation.

I just.

Man, winning, winning, winning is the best feeling. Losing to the best... at the last mark doesn't affect you, man.

0-1?

Because that's one round.

0-1.

Or what? 3-1.

3-1.

0-1 or 3-1?

Yeah.

Man, niggas like, yeah, I'd rather be 0-1.

I don't know what that feel like, man.

This conversation y'all having is foreign to me.

You don't know what it feel like?

Yeah.

Because I'm pretty sure. You played how many years? 12?

Yeah.

He went twice.

Oh, you only went two times?

Yeah.

You, but you my rookie.

Oh, damn.

So, you have a win.

Oh, you went three times.

See, the nigga went three times. He don't even know.

Oh, yeah.

You won the Clippers.

Clippers, Clippers, Clippers.

Oh, with the Washington, you have his 1.3. See, if you don't want to ring, that'll be you.

Oh, shit.

Did you want to ring 2.6? You have a 60% win percentage, though, in your playoff opinion.

You went to the playoffs three times?

Three times.

Out of 12?

Mm-hmm.

35 career playoff games.

Bro, to make the damn playoffs, Amy and.

I are swaggy.

600 win percent.

Champion. I mean, hey, he played 35 games. 35 playoff games. Started two. 600 wins.

Hey, but you got a ring.

You got a ring.

So you would rather just not start than start two.

You know what I mean?

All right, well, let's move on to our.

That game against us in Memphis, that was a fun series.

No, no, no, for sure. It was a fun series because I was there. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. That was fun.

But when we played the Spurs in the second round, like, we knew. It was like you felt the energy. Like, we didn't have a chance against Tim Duncan. So, y'all should have just lost it. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. They was whooping our ass. That's what I'm saying. So, y'all should have just lost it. Like, they was just whooping our ass.

Man, I done went to the Western Conference Finals versus the KD Warriors.

Man.

You like, man, so you talking about it's going to be me, Moe Harkless in chief, and Myers Leonard versus Steph, Klay, KD, Dre. Like, all right. I understand what you're talking about, man.

It's like a quick feeling, then you get– Back into reality. Like, you happy? We just came, we whooped Memphis' ass?

Yeah.

Let me ask.

You a question.

Since I'm looking at these snacks.

Stop, man.

Stop. So, that Clippers, when you was on the Clippers, you had fun in the playoffs, didn't you?

Nah.

You had fun in the playoffs, didn't you? Didn't you, Nick, huh?

25 minutes, 25 minutes, boys, I did 19.

You was out here killing, fam.

Bro, that comeback. You was out here killing.

You was the man.

He took my shit away in the Spurs. I didn't play much in the Spurs game. He took my shit away. He was fucking with me. 19, 18, 17? You was doing, shit, 13, 9, 9.

I mean, last game, 3, but, you know, 9, 9.

You fucked over that.

Shit, you was positive. You was only negative two games, really. Wait, you said you didn't like this feeling?

I didn't like losing like that. It's not cool, man. You got swept. You got swept.

You know what I mean?

Imagine playing.

I played Miami in the second round, bro. With Shaq and then Alonzo coming off the bench.

Oh, yeah.

After your game winner in Chicago.

Yeah. I forgot.

And we knew.

That's what I'm saying.

That's what I'm talking about.

We went into the second round knowing that.

Okay, we're not going past them, obviously. But if we can get.

One win, that is the second round win.

If we can get one win on.

Them, that's the second round win.

That's what I'm talking about.

We didn't get that, though.

The reality come in.

All right, so last question in this general discussion, talking point, but something we talked about before the show. You guys had a very spirited debate, so I wanted to bring it to the actual show. Swaggy, Corner Boy Hall of Fame, Elite Corner. One of the most decorated corners in NBA history. Stop feeding into it.

One of the most decorated corners of all time.

Stop feeding into it. The Corner Hall of Fame down the street from the Naismith Hall of Fame around the corner. Can you be a corner if you have plays ran for you? Okay, let us ask, since we know what a real corner is.

How you gonna take... See, this ain't do this to everybody.

Stop.

It's mine. You can't take my names and shit. You can't tell me what the fuck I do on the court.

It's a corner. No, we know what a corner do. We know what a corner dude is.

You're trying to pretend that you was a corner guy only because Kobe came in and told you to go in a corner.

Meaning when Kobe's not there, you're the man.

That is called second options.

It's called second options.

Yeah, that is a second option, Nick.

A corner man is when you go to the timeout and he only draw up four people, you know where your ass is going. I was a corner man in Portland. When you sit there, you're drawing up initials. You don't even get no initials.

It's just an X.

And it's between you and your other two partners as a corner man. And it's like we're just going to be here this whole night. That's what corner man is. Corner man don't get no plays drawing up, champ. Yeah, I don't know what you're talking about. And you get one quarter just to see if you were hot. So stop.

All right, so tell me who's on OKC. as a corner right now? If I'm OKC, who's the corners? What is Wiggins? He's gone.

And so is Isaiah Joe. But what was it?

They got plays.

Like, you're calling yourself a corner.

He gave me the year to go look up. It was 2013.

What if we call it from New York?

That don't miss a game. That don't miss a game. That is not a corner.

You're calling second option, third option.

He averaged 20. With a hundred and something million.

Okay, just so we can start it off. A corner guy. A corner guy.

DJ Tucker is a corner guy.

Meaning, whoever's on his team. Let's say James Harden wasn't there. Chris Paul wasn't there. Gordon wasn't there because they're calling a place for them.

Dwight wasn't there.

You can name six, seven niggas on the team.

If those guys, you don't let me finish?

If seven niggas is gone, they're not running plays for P.J.

Tucker.

That is what a corner guy is.

Rick Fox was Kobe corner.

You're saying the star player is gone.

Rick Fox was Kobe. Steve Kerr was his. Byron Scott was his. I'm going to keep showing you.

Bro, you got real plays, right?

No, it don't matter. You know what a corner nigga is.

We know what a corner guy is.

That's why what you're saying is he's just out of the corner.

Let me tell you.

It's levels.

You could be a sixth man of the year and be a corner.

But you know when your job is, when the star come in, when he not in, it's my time.

When the star.

Come in, where do I go? To the fucking corner.

And sit there.

I got to wait for him to pass me the ball. So it's levels. You could be an elite corner. You could be just a nigga in that room. P.J. Tucker, corner to corner. It's levels.

Nah.

If I can't take the ball out your hands and do what I want to do... Out whose hand? The star player.

I'm a corner.

When you were with the Clippers, you stayed quiet.

You're talking about the star players making you the corner.

Yeah, and who will?

That's close.

You got an option.

No, it's not.

Austin Reeves goes to the corner.

Austin Reeves was a corner, and now he broke out. But he always had the rock. Austin Reeves would go to the corner only because Luka came in. But you also knew Austin would.

Get the ball before LeBron.

Austin Reeves was a corner before he broke out.

OK, on the Lakers, you're saying Austin Reeves is a corner. And a real corner is Vando. No matter, Austin Reeves, LeBron, Rui, they can all be off this team. How many plays you think they're going to call for Vando?

Zero.

They're going to give it to someone else to go score.

That's his position.

Rebound, offensive rebound.

And scoring.

On your team, you had Antoine, Karan.

Second option, third option.

And Deshaun Stevenson was your corner, nigga. You see his ass in the corner.

He had plays.

So is that a corner with freedom or an elite corner, Swaggy, or does that count?

You got levels. How about Joe?

I can tell you every corner I ain't seen.

No, you just want to give somebody the corner.

No, no. Spurs, who's the shooter? Bruce Bowen.

Luke Vaughn was a good corner, but I'm talking about last year. Oh, okay. Vassell? Yes.

Nah, Vassell. Champagny?

Champagny, yeah, good corner.

You talking about niggas averaging, like, breaking a record for three?

Boy, you cannot.

Bro, he broke the single-season record for most threes.

You ain't getting a ball in your corner.

You hitting your shots, your ball. Man, they pass it to you, you hit the threes.

That boy's flying up all day. Goddamn. P.J.

Tucker even averaged, what, ten points, nine points.

Robert Ory probably the most elite corner in the NBA.

Robert Ory.

Robert Ory was the... The greatest corner in NBA history?

Man, five rings?

Oh, my God.

Seven. Seven.

Just tell me who the corner nigga is on this team.

All right.

I'm going to go down the list.

Star player.

So you got. You said this year, right?

Yeah, go this year. Let's go.

Come on.

Come on, motherfucker. Tell me about my job.

I'm not going to tell you about your job. I just want to see who they say who the corner guy is.

All right, Clay will be the corner nigga on Miami now.

Him. Yeah, good corner.

They're going to run some plays for you, champ.

You can have plays ran for you. Your job is to run from corner to corner. You shoot 12 times a night. You got to do all the dirty work.

You shoot 12 times a night.

You got to play defense.

Jalen Daniels, good corner nigga. That's a great one.

I'm going to ask you guys this.

Jalen Daniels is not a corner nigga?

All right, so we have the leading scorer on this.

Team, average 18. Second leading scorer, average 17.

Third, 16. Fourth, 14.

And then the fifth, is 13. Out of all of them, would you say the nigga who averaged 18 coming off the bench was the corner guy?

Absolutely not.

He led the team in scoring, but he didn't want to be the corner because Kobe comes in six games.

Six games and say, get in the corner.

Yeah, you're not the corner guy.

The nigga led the.

Team in scoring, and he's calling himself a scorer because the six games go to the corner.

And all conditions corner.

And all conditions corner. Where are you supposed to go if Kobe got the ball?

But that's the job of a corner, though. You got to be able to do... No, you don't. You got to be able to be able to shoot, motherfucking play defense, score off.

You got to.

Be able to create when they last second shots when they give you the ball.

That's what you do.

But that's the shit. People don't give the fucking ball to me. Talented scorers do that, bro. You're a higher gun.

You motherfuckers don't understand how difficult his life is. You don't tell me about this type of life. How you going to tell me this shit? You got to be able to mold your game to fit this motherfucker, because if he passes, you got to be able to make this shot. Your game don't change.

Your game don't change at all. Your game don't change.

You got drafted as a corner.

You don't get no extra abilities.

This is how you stay on the floor. Nick, when they signed you, they signed you because they knew you could score and you was going to get some runs, some plays, and they weren't playing you out scoring a bucket. It wasn't because you were stopping a nigga. A corner can't outgrow his position. A corner can't become a star, though.

A corner can't be no star, man.

He can't become a star.

That's called a six-man.

Yeah, bro.

An elite corner can become an elite corner.

He can't become a star.

A corner can be an all-star at point two, just depending.

It's very rare, but they can. Very rare, but they can. All right, well, Austin Reeves is doing it now. Austin Reeves is doing it now.

Judge Butchler, that's a corner.

That's a corner. Nick, you are nicer than that, bro. You're underselling me.

Shut up, Judge.

That's a corner.

That's a guy who comes in, sit in the corner, play you a little four, five minutes.

If you are wide open.

Everybody become a corner at one point. Is Tyler Hero a corner nigga? If he's on a different team, he could be.

I mean, is Norman Powell a corner nigga?

He was. He outgrew it, though.

But I'm saying in general, but he's still start in a corner. He don't have the ball in his hand the whole time. That's what I'm saying.

That's the talent. You got to be able to fit in with these motherfuckers. And when you get your opportunity, you can outgrow it if you ball out.

You can outgrow it?

What's his name, Powell? He's been a corner every year in Toronto.

An average 19 in a game in Toronto.

The past six years, he's shot 40 from the three.

The last.

He's called players.

He's just an all-star, averaging 20-something a game. Man, you ain't never called a power as an all-star until what? He should have been an all-star when LeBron set out.

Come on. How power been doing here? Averaging 16, 18, 19, 17, 19, 18, 21, 17, 13, 21, 20. This nigga might be a Hall of Famer. A Hall of Famer corner.

He might be a Hall of Famer. Go to that three-point percentage.

And last year averaged 22 a game.

From backwards, 38, 41, 43, 39, 54, 40, 41, 36, 43, 41, 39, 40. That nigga sound underpaid.

Danny Green, Ali Corner was almost finals. Now that's Danny Green. Danny Green's a corner nigga. Yeah, Danny Green's a corner nigga.

And he said it.

I don't give a fuck who's on this court. They not calling no plays for me. But Ali Corner was almost a final.

They're never calling a play for me.

And then we're on the same team and we're sitting there. I'd be like, hey, we need a bucket. Guess who I want to sub in? Nick Young. Because Nick can go get a bucket.

But you could get a bucket and still be reduced. You got to set your game back to be a corner. That's what I'm saying.

Let me see.

It's a lot of niggas that can score, but they can't show the shit on the court. They got to do a job. Their job is.

To fucking spread to that corner. Nick don't want to be the man. He want to be the pride. So it went Kobe, then you, right? You was off the court, right? Who would get the next plays?

What player? Okay, then by now, if Paul's off the court, who's the next nigga up?

I forgot. Who was on that team? That was a long time ago. Why you bringing up old shit?

I'm just saying.

I forgot who was on that team. When you start forgetting niggas' names, that's the corner.

That guy.

Some corners transcend. Some corners are unforgettable.

Like who?

Swaggy P. Nick Young. My favorite corner.

That was a six man. That was a six man. That was a higher. They are. Six men don't got.

They are.

It's a corner nigga. A league corner. Come on, bro.

Oh, man. What was he in Cleveland?

One of the best shooters in the league.

Like.

Uh. lot of talent. He got to change his game, though, to be a corner. He's a tradition corner.

That's like.

Bro, they start off with every first corner giving him every play, bro.

But I'm talking about.

Right.

A positionalist corner.

Rudy Goldberg's a corner, nigga.

Lay corner.

A dunker, nigga. He's on lay corner. He's a corner.

Don't matter what's going on.

They're not going five down.

Dork is a liquor store man.

You know when they do a switch and you got a guard on them, they're not giving them the ball.

They could be getting three and a kick.

Alright, well let's keep this thing moving. Talk about current topics going on in the NBA. NBA releases annual GM survey this Thursday and the general managers around the league are predicting a Spurs takeover this season. 50% of GMs picked San Antonio to win the finals this year with the Thunder coming in second at 43%. Knicks and Sixers both just got one vote each from the GM delegation. 77% picked Wimby to win his first MVP. 93% picked Wimby as the player to start a franchise with. 97% selected the Alien as both the best defensive player and best interior defender in the NBA. And 57% of GMs picked Wimby as the league's most versatile defender. So, I mean, giving all that information, what's your reaction to the NBA's

GMs glazing Wimby in the Spurs at this level heading into the season?

So many experts, man, sitting in that front office. But, no, it's obvious. I think it's not even so much glazing. You've never seen anything like it before. And I think what he's been able to do in 30 minutes and under is even more dominant. I think the confidence that he's been able to get game in and game out has been tremendous. And we keep going back to that finals, obviously with a little bit more experience and, you know, a little bit better, I guess, coaching a sense of where he can get into attack mode, who can really stop him. He can shoot from 35 feet out, as you've seen, when he hit the game winner in one game.

And he takes great pride in defense. And I think also aside from that, he's a great leader and he has a great chemistry with his team. So I think besides the Knicks who even have a, the advantage of experience and the continuity with guys back. But the Spurs even have a lot more because their main guys are back and adding Tobias Harris. And I just don't see who can really stop him, you know, with an extra year under his belt and how locked in he is.

So Swag, let's shift over to you. What's your reaction to the GMs around the NBA glazing Wimby and the Spurs at this level?

Oh, God, so tired of me. Just give him the MVP already. All these awards.

Anonymous.

He's going to be the Anonymous. What is it? Like when everybody... Yeah, Anonymous.

The Unanimous.

The Unanimous. Unanimous. Unanimous.

The Unanimous. You got it. The Unanimous.

My bad, my bad.

I'm just saying. All day. It's Friday.

It's Friday, though.

It's Friday. Like, relax. We got the whole week. The Unanimous.

Don't nobody say that.

Little Nemo.

Do you think?

Yeah. Let's stick together.

It is Friday. I get it.

I get it. I hurt my feelings.

You trying to be.

A corner has hurt my feelings.

Because I played in Memphis, nigga.

Do you know what that feel like? I know what a corner is.

MVP is about to be the GOAT already.

They tried to make him MVP last year. He averaged, what, 24 points?

25.

25?

Like, there's people out there in their 30s.

It's crazy.

I always felt like it's going to happen. You don't have to force it to happen. He's obviously, like, The unicorn, something we've never seen, but instead of forcing it on, forcing the issue, let it happen. You already said you want everything coming up this upcoming season, for sure.

Last one on this, Gilbert J. Arena, namesake of Gilbert's Arena. What do you think about NBA GMs glazing Wimby and the Spurs at this level heading into this season, putting a lot of pressure on this team? A lot of lofty expectations.

No, no, no.

Glazing Wimby is, they said he's the number one. Amongst other things, 77% picked him to win his first MVP, 93% as the player to start a franchise with. Best interior. 77%? MVP, 50% Spurs.

You said 77% to win MVP?

Yeah, I mean.

As long as the team is in the top three, the defense aside pushes him up, which we know he's going to be defensive player of the year. If he just gets a tad bit in offense, just averages 26, the.

Award's going to be his.

Right?

The only thing that can offset that is.

Jokic numbers, and he averages a triple-double, or Luka's numbers averages a triple-double, and they're in the 1-2. That's going to offset because... His rebounds, it's not like he's in the 20s. So he's at 12, Jokic is at 11. Luka's going to be at 10. They're going to wipe him down in assists. So by number-wise, I don't know if the defense is going to push him over that much, but 77%, that's fair.

Jokic never triple-doubles back-to-back seasons. But his team ain't. Did not win the MVP, so even him.

I just said, if his team is one or two while averaging triple-double, he could possibly win it.

What about Greek Freak? If he start averaging more assists?

He could possibly win it.

I mean, you got three guys who can, three guys who can average a triple-double that can, that can play with it. But for the most part, if you're going to put a number on it, it'd be in the high 70s, 75, 80.

That's fair.

Yeah, I still think it's dangerous because, damn, Luka and Jokic are so fucking good, bro. They're getting better and better each day, bro. Like, what Yogi's been doing in preseason, he's dang near just been walking through competition.

You know what I'm saying?

And I just feel like even if they find somebody that can just stop people for five minutes a game, and like you said, get into that third option, but those dudes are playing some of the best basketball in NBA history. And like I said, bro, March Luca was unbelievable. He can't keep going first team all NBA every single year and not get an MVP look.

No, no, that's fair. But it's true. It's... You want new faces. Shea is a great face right now that has it. Jokic won it. He didn't give what you want from an MVP in the sense of carrying the.

The namesake of the NBA. You know, Giannis, you know, it was great.

You know what I mean?

Like, when people think about the MVP, man, it's these moments.

I don't think my mama... There's moments to that trophy.

You know what I mean? Like, so.

I do want to get a trophy for people that care, not say, I don't care if I win it.

Winby for sure will care.

He's saying something.

Yeah, because Jokic always says, I don't care. Then fuck it, and don't give it to him then. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

Motherfucker, I care because I work out every motherfucking day. I'm saying I don't care because y'all.

Americans always want to do this accolade shit.

But most people who get the accolades don't care about the accolades. It's the motherfuckers who think they should have been that, and we don't get it. Now, we think... about our accolades. That's my, you know what I mean? That's my, you know, Steve Nash is like.

I don't.

Care who y'all think should have it. I know who has it. That's, you know, that's that.

And, you know, he'd be like, yeah, you know, I don't think it should have been me because, you know, you can't reverse it. So just saying the words to make people shut the fuck up, that's what people do.

But I agree with Spurs stuff for the most part.

Starting a franchise? I'm starting a franchise with him. Yeah, for sure, for sure.

Like, there's people in the history of the game that their physical makeup, their work ethic, just how dominant they was, and you think about transcending through history, you can't, like, you know, Shaq, Wimby, LeBron, Magic. Mm-hmm.

MJ.

But are you saying all-time or just the current?

All-time.

When you're talking about starting your franchise, any of them could possibly... I mean, Shaq, Shaq, Wimby, Shaq, Wimby, or LeBron will be going first. Those three are going first. There's nobody turning them down.

Shaq, Wimby, and LeBron?

Jordan's the GOAT.

Jordan's the GOAT.

But I don't think anybody's going to.

miss the center to go get a shooting guard.

They didn't do it during the draft.

You know what I mean?

So it's not like I'm going to say, all right, wait, hold on. I got Jordan or Shaq. If I get Jordan, I lose Shaq. Now I've got to build it around him. If I get Shaq, I can go get a two-guard that can just give me 20-something.

But you put Wimby in that conversation already with all those legends. Okay. Because he covers a lot of bases. Like, he just.

Like, when you're talking about a draft and you're starting from nothing, you want someone... Jokic will probably go up there. You want someone that I say this, I don't have to be a genius with.

Right? Right.

And if I.

Draft Shaq, I don't have to be a genius. Just time, time, and just keep putting pieces around. He's going to win, right? MJ, he's going to find a way to win because that's in his will. Winby, obviously we can see you put a young team. LeBron, like Jokic, right? Because they do so many different things that I can mess up in a draft and their skill set can kind of like cover up my mistakes. You know what I mean? I don't have to be a fucking genius. I don't have to be pressing over in OKC.

I don't have to be that good.

I'm about to say, you don't think KD would be in there?

6'11, shooter, scorer?

Just off potential? You're seeing that frame? Because that's the same as winning to me.

Top 10? Over Melo?

Top 10?

Would Melo be in there, too? Like, just seeing that?

Top 10 pick?

Like, just seeing.

If we're talking about top 10, yeah, he'd be in there.

Yeah, I was about to say, I would draft him.

What about Melo?

Melo, too?

Or no? No.

I'm just saying, because coming out of college, you won a national championship.

Like, just height.

I'm going off body fat.

You got to think about, like, when you're talking about, like, I need to start my franchise, you want to start, you're going to start with people who have an advantage over everybody, right, in that position. So, you're going to go with KD because he's a seven-foot shooter.

That's what I'm saying. You're going to go.

With Greek because, you know, like, you're not going to be able to guard him. Magic because he's a big point guard.

Jamelo, they have, like, six, like, Six, eight, small four with a jumper, score without. The conversation, if you argue, if he started in the East, you remember Chauncey said some of our Nuggets team was better than a lot of people talk about. We just couldn't get through that West. That's all I'm saying. It's like Melo, he won a national championship as a freshman back when it was tough as hell to do. He came in, could have been an all-star as a rookie. They did whatever they did to him. You understand what I'm saying? He won every head-to-head matchup for the most part versus Brian.

Do you understand what I'm saying? But throughout history, I can find a guy.

Yeah, like that.

Not like him personally, but that's going to put him 25, 30.

You know what I mean?

I can go through and once I get my established players, I can find a guy who's going to give me 30.

20-something, 30.

I'm going to go after length first, like them unique builds.

I dig it. Can I do one more argument for Melo? I'm just saying, like, all around accolades, just even Team USA, because we forget Team USA, three-time Olympic gold medalist, all-time leading scorer. Like, there's some crazy shit where you're like, damn.

Melo did that? But now think about that team, right? Who's on the team?

Yeah.

Kobe and Brian.

So that means I can go get them and then add to Melo. I appreciate that. I always said Melo's going to always lead that team in scoring because Melo has something they don't have. He's a pure shooter. So when they're trying to spread the floor, they got to give him the ball. And then it's not Denver, so he's going to get to just quick buckets.

And people didn't realize.

He played iso ball in the NBA because he has to wear about double team. So he has to see where everyone's coming. In USA basketball, he don't know what's coming. So it's just like, get this work.

Yeah, that looked crazy. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

Get this work. So back to Wimby and the Spurs quick before we got another Spurs thing to talk about too. But have we officially entered the Wimby era or does he need to win a ring or MVP first to cement himself? As that dude in the, I'm not going to say the face of the league. When you say era.

Is it saying share? I would make that argument. I mean, you got two back-to-back MVPs. I'm just trying to figure out. I would make that argument, but I feel like. Like, Aaron, you have to do something first.

The negativity around Shea for some reason.

The Bronson era.

Bro, I would say either Shea or I would go Dirk Horse, the other team that made it to Western Conference Finals the past couple times.

Jokic?

I mean, Yoke is your, I mean, Ant-Man is really like that, bro. Like, when you said, like, because I'm saying when you go away from that, you're like, hey, bro, who don't at Matterverse? And, like, he's still in that pantheon where you're like, bro, you went to two Western Conference finals, like, MVP, like. when you say who crazy enough to stop him or don't fucking matter, it's like, hey, slow down before you, like, he told Obama. I don't know what y'all talking about.

I'm the truth.

Like, I think Ant-Man, like, I understand Wimby's a man, but like, if you sit at a table with Ant-Man, you walk in that room, I'm going to believe what Ant-Man's saying.

Like, that's all I'm, like.

I get all that, but what have you done?

Right?

You're saying in this, in these six years right here, this decade right here, There's a guy who has two MVPs, back to back.

Right?

Scoring titles.

Absolutely. Right?

Finals MVP, Western Conference final. You're not going to put nobody in front of me who don't even touch these, right?

When we talk about hardware, right? And I would make that argument. Yogi's just doing the same thing.

Like, what's up? You're right. What are we talking about?

How are you going to put a guy who just, what do you got?

First team all NBA, first team defense? The greatest defensive season in NBA history according to the square media.

I don't even know what that means. You're talking about the 7-4 dude.

Y'all ain't never did defense like this.

I don't know.

I'm just saying.

You've never gotten D like this?

No one's got D like this.

So can we, can we, we watched Dennis Rodman, right? Yeah. We watch a lot of defensive players. Yes.

If they gave Dennis Rodman when he won coming off the bench, he came off the bench.

And was defensive player of the year. Who the fuck is gauging?

And Dennis Robinson, look, he was going out of bounds. He was running around like Tasmanian.

If he won defense, like all that, you got every single vote. That shit don't mean nothing. But the number one defensive player in the year, the number three overall player in the year. Or in the season, last season, coming into now this season. What does Curry got? Unanimous MVP. Okay, now, he has that, right? You remember Wilt? He don't have that, right? Okay, you remember Shaquille O'Neal. He don't have that? Okay, now we have a Michael Jordan who won six MVPs?

Five.

Five?

He don't have that, right?

Right.

So you're saying the best nigga that ever walked the planet. He done played from... We can just get rid of the 80s, even though he was the man in the 80s, averaging 35, while getting clotheslined, right?

And that's why I don't know why they talk about the 80s is so tough.

You got a nigga averaging who couldn't shoot, averaging 45 points a game.

Well, 88 Jordan's probably the best hooper ever.

Yeah, but that's the year where he's getting clotheslined.

Yeah, 38.

So when we say... but not a champion.

When we say, so, who will argue, what I'm saying is, who voted against Michael Jordan in any of these years for him.

Not to have it?

Right?

So, someone saying, I have it, and that puts you over, that don't put you over, you got MVP, I got MVP.

Like, it's MVP, MVP. You got all the votes? I got 99.

Okay. You're right now.

But does that seem like the trajectory? Obviously, I have a ton of love for SJ when he's on the back-to-back MVPs. You can talk about Jokic with the back-to-back triple-double. I've got to see it first. But from what you've seen last season now heading into this That's why y'all get scammed. They're in a movie.

I can flip what you're doing right now I can give me this two thousand I can flip this two thousand give me eight thousand for data.

And you don't give me money for.

Just Answer the question already said I'm gonna talk.

It's the goddamn question. No, ask them again because I'm tired Already No, he didn't. That's when y'all get scammed, man. You want to flip.

Five and ten.

No, no, no. You keep asking the same question.

I asked it already.

Are we getting scammed or have we seen the sample size that we've seen? You're saying you're entering the Wimby's era. If Ant was defensive player of the year last year, Ant finished third in MVP voting, we'd be having the conversation that Ant's getting close to that Jordan. Okay, so right now, who's dominating the era?

Luka.

Luka.

I'm not joking, two time at SGA.

No, but what I'm saying is who's dominating it?

So obviously, it ain't Wimby's era because you got three niggas dominating.

Entering.

I didn't say we're in the era. I said are we entering? Like if I go into a music program, I'm entering it. I'm not in Disneyland yet. I don't know until you play.

Show me.

I'm not going to put you in front of... It's like saying, oh, yeah, he's the champion. Let's give him the fucking.

Let him win it.

Let me see it first.

And it got him.

You come out here and average is 24 and 12 and them niggas is averaging triple, double 30s?

No, this is not your era.

No.

If you're whooping their ass.

Yeah, if he winning, it is his era.

If you're whooping their ass. Winning games?

This is first year.

His era? Or his team's era? That was only his third year in the league.

I know.

That's what I'm saying.

No, I totally dig you. I just think now when it comes back, it's even like... You know Duncan won a lot. That's why he ain't.

On the wall. Whatever was his?

I don't know.

Yeah.

Huh?

It's different?

Personality-wise. She gets to move it. Personality-wise. She gets to move it. Personality, that's why.

All right, well, Spurs looking to build on their NBA Finals run. Obviously, it did not go the way they wanted. But in other Spurs news, San Antonio rolled out their three-yard lineup. Wednesday in their 20-point preseason win over the Suns. Okay, let me see this. DeFon Castle, Dylan Harper, Darren Fox all started alongside Devin Vassell.

Oh, wow.

Vassell and Wimby. After a shaky start, the trio gave the team some optimism that it could work in extended periods this season. Let's take a look at the highlights if we can, please, Paolo. Paolo, appreciate you for all you do. So last season, the Fox Castle Harper Trio played only 69 minutes together, including 25 in the NBA Finals, resulting in a minus 49 net point difference. Huh?

Talk that shit!

Ankle look good now.

Huh?

The ankle good, ain't it? The ankle, brother!

Ankle look good now, but the trio was plus 10 in the 11 minutes they shared the floor together Wednesday. Doesn't hurt to have the alien in the lineup with them when we finish with a game-high 19 points on 9-14 shooting. Also have four blocks, four rebounds, and two steals in his 23 minutes. Stephon Castle led the three-headed guard monster with 18 points in 24 minutes. He was 14 for 15 from the free throw line. De'Aaron Fox, Dylan Harper both finished the game with nine points. Harper played 23 minutes. Fox played 19 minutes. Like I said, very small sample size. They've been teasing this. They were supposed to run this lineup earlier in the preseason, but De'Aaron Fox was hurt for that game against the Hawks,

I believe, when they were initially going to bring this out. Elite corner, Devin Vassell. Holy shit, dude. Dylan Harper, it was a dunk fest in the game. That was Ron Harper. Dillon Harper. Ron Harper looking for Gil right now.

Yeah, what happened?

I seen a little thing and I'm like, wait, what the fuck is this?

Don't fuck with Hollywood Harper, Gil, is the reality. When did I talk about Hollywood? When did I say something about Harper? On the episode of We Said What We Said, Gil. Oh, he's looking for Cameron too. His baby, his son. Wait, what'd I say about his son?

I'm not getting into it. We don't speak about his son. I was gone then.

I ain't saying shit either.

Ron Harper said he's looking for you. Make sure he's not on the security team.

Yeah, yeah, you did. I've been going through a lot of shit lately. Ron Harper?

Yeah.

You mean the son?

Yes.

Then she don't. Had some work issues. Work related.

Yeah, didn't we kill her? We didn't say nothing about you. I said you made $ 20 million. You better go ahead and get a new one. Said stick to basketball.

Yeah.

Get a couple new ones. That is not the conversation we're having. I just wanted to point that out, Gil. I'm going to stand on that. Get a couple new ones. You make fucking $ 12 million.

What the fuck are you talking about?

Back to the basketball discourse of this all. Spurs believe that Castle and Harper possess the size to consistently hold their own against wings. I have faith in the three-guard lineup with head coach Mitch Johnson saying, I think they can dribble, pass, shoot, defend, make winning plays. They're unselfish.

They have good size. He also pointed out they have experience being off-ball at various points in their careers. But, Gil, we're going to start with you. How does the Spurs three-guard lineup enhance this trio along with Wimby?

He said exactly what I said. When, I don't know, who the fuck said he should start over my all-star? I'm like, well, my all-star is an all-star, so the only person that you can replace is my shooting guard. to put him in, and obviously we can see what they did. So if I'm going to put three of them in, I can do that because I have Wimby. Wimby, there's no height issue. You don't need a big lineup or whatever. You have him back there. So if you want to run five, four, five, six dudes out there, he'll figure out how to protect them all.

So I played with Dwight Howard. It was me, Jermaine Nelson, and.

Jay Will, Jay Rich.

No, J.J. Reddick.

Okay.

So we had the one, two, three. Yeah, yeah. Right?

You know what I mean? Ryan Anderson had the four. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

So we didn't have to worry about, you know, getting beat. Just pick them up. Just bring them to me. So defensively, nothing's going to change for them. Offensively, putting that lineup in, there's going to be some trouble.

I hope they worked on their jumper a little bit.

Yeah.

Because if that lineup ain't hitting shots and they're all trying to attack.

It's, you know.

Yeah, because like you said, all the shooters are on the bench.

How many threes did they actually make in that starting lineup?

With that trio? Yeah, with that starting lineup.

I don't know.

Because Wimby is going to be the, he's going to shoot the most threes out of all of them. I'm pretty sure they didn't take 10.

Yeah.

And Faisal is going to be the foreman or the bias, whoever you got to worry about.

That's dangerous, bro.

Huh?

That's a dangerous lineup, though.

It's a dangerous lineup, but it.

We talked about it with the Lakers. You said they got people that get bucky. That lineup right there?

Vassell shot 38% from three last season. No, I mean.

Put that ball in that hole, bro. Yeah, but even when you sit there and you look at that.

I don't know about that crew, but the Spurs took 35 total in the game. Shot 37%, but obviously it's preseason. Can't read too much into that. So Vassell's okay. Vassell, Wimby, probably obviously going to be the ones shooting the most.

Did the second unit kind of... sacrifice due to the fact that like there's not that strong of a playmaker or ball handler because when you got three of your best ball handlers starting now all your shooters on a bench so obviously Vassell shot 38 percent but you still got Champagny on a bench you had Tobias Harris come out that bench but who's gonna feed them how are they going you know.

And I think you were obviously somebody's gonna come out earlier in that first quarter.

Yeah I mean that is but the problem the problem with this because I was looking at the assists Because all of them put it on the ground and they want to get to their buckets, you know, that assist might not be where it is. But I'm not mad at it. Like, if I'm going to play three, I'm going to play three.

Yeah.

Right? If I'm not going to bring Harper off the bench. Like, if he's playing to the point where he has to start.

Yeah.

Champagne over sales coming off the bench.

So, starter shot four for 15 from three in that game. The guard trio was three for six. They only took six threes total a month. Yeah, they're going to hit that back. How many free throws did they take?

Oh.

You had Castle went 14 for 15 from the line. So then does that mean they shot 35? Does that mean that you go heavy with the starting lineup? Because I believe last year in the finals, that starting lineup they originally had only played like 11 minutes together. So now you come down this way and you sit in there and guys are playing in about minutes. Do you play them a heavy 35 minutes together? Because guys don't want to come off the bench. They want their minutes.

I mean, Dylan Harper didn't. society didn't pump them in a starting as opposed to being like, yo, how about we have two shooters to space around this big dude along with two playmakers? So we're going away from what would flow well as opposed to being like, hey, you're going to play starter minutes and what we argued earlier about the six-man situation. Is the six-man the six-man or is he just a fifth starter? And like I said prior to, most starting lineups only play the first four or five minutes of each half and then you bring in your killer. So how does that, you understand what I'm saying?

I don't want to be the guy that's, in the starting lineup, but I'm the first sub. I'm the first guy you're going to take out.

Exactly. I don't want.

To be that first guy you take out to then put your real starting five in.

You sit eight minutes until you're going to come out the eight or seven minute mark, and then you're going to sit out until nine minutes of the second quarter. That's inevitable to a certain extent. That's where it comes down to being like, yo, you'd rather be in the top eight than the top five because the top five only get to open in half together.

I mean, do you want to be that guy that's there when we're on the floor or that's not there when we're on the floor?

But Castle don't really need the ball in his hand, too. He could offensive rebounds, backdoor cuts.

Castle not going for that, bro. He's a playmaker, bro. You don't think so? He needs the ball in his hand. Yeah, he's going to start getting upset and being like, hey, the dude that averaged six turnovers in the finals last year need the ball in his hands to make plays, bro.

Like, regardless.

This is, but this is, Wouldn't have I would have played he played them different in the play in preseason. I Need to see whom because they're all playing together. I can't tell who's really who What is Harper? Is he more of a one? Is he more of a two? How smart like if I go off of this college? I want the ball in his hands.

Yeah, right, so He's my point guard So it's either him, him, and then if we're going to.

Have Castle get the ball, zip him up, do all that, let him do his thing, right? I would have ran them and just say, hey, you start this whole first quarter, you run it.

Second quarter, you run it.

So I need to see what y'all are going to do with the ball in your hand so I know who to have the ball in their hand. You know, it's one of them they all needed, but who the team runs better with, who having the ball first. That's what they have to figure out. Because right now.

And it's still De'Aaron Fox.

Right now, I don't know if I want all three starting because.

One of you guys is going to get hurt.

Yeah.

Spacing.

And I mean not just spacing, getting the ball.

Like, this is one of those things because none of you guys are just catch-and-shoot guys.

Where y'all just going to catch a shoot, flare, there we go.

Like, uh, uh.

You get it? You want to sit there and get your wiggle room in?

And also, too, it's like, bro, for the second unit, you get to run your own team for 10 or 11 minutes. Is it about you being a starter or you getting your wiggle going and getting your rhythm going up until the last five minutes of the game? That's the only thing I'd be sitting there being like, hey.

I know you want to come off the bench, but it's a cheat code. You still got some weapons. You still got four killers. And no matter what, you could be outplaying a starter or whoever to start the season.

Nah, Ron, you getting that starting lineup, nigga. Don't be labeled as a six-man.

Hell no, I ain't going.

To lie to you. I was thinking the same thing. I'm just, bro, I'm just, I'm just reading.

But I'm saying, but you do that at the sacrifice level. We just argue about being a corner nigga, right? No matter what.

You don't want to be a corner nigga.

Somebody's going to slide and be the corner nigga.

That's not me.

That's not me.

Somebody else.

That's a little hard for us to say.

I'm the number two pick in the tribe. It ain't going to be me.

And we ain't heard Safiya Castle's voice yet, but I know for damn sure he's not going either. So now when it comes... It's you. All right, bro.

We haven't heard your voice. You got your money, right? You go.

I'm just saying, coming down to it, I would much rather, if I was a starter, I would much rather run my own shit in the same type of fashion than argue with a Gilbert Arenas and getting outside my lane. That's all I'm saying. And no matter what, somebody is going to lack because it wouldn't be going to be bringing that bitch up out of nowhere anyway.

Nah.

And Vassell's going to get a decent amount of shots as well if you worry about all the other guys. Like, I just don't think it's going to be enough ball for those three for them not to complain. They're going to eventually screen. Somebody has to go to that pine. And then I feel as though how the offense works, you still need one more shooter.

Yeah, no, I get what you're saying. Like, somebody can go to the pine. Like, there's two other players on the team that don't have the name or the game.

They're catching shoot guys. Yeah, I get it. But I'm the number two pick in the draft. And I have talent.

And the dude that you got in front of me, fuck the point guard.

He's 6'4. Yeah.

I'm 6'6.

I'm stronger, bigger, faster. Right?

So you're saying Castle's going ahead or Fox is going to the bench?

No.

So he's moving up in the second order.

6'4?

You need shooters, dog.

Champagne is what? You need shooters.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I can figure that shit out.

I can figure that shit out, okay?

But what we're not going to do is I'm not going to be.

On this bench three, four years, and now I'm getting paid six million money.

No, and I can clue you.

Understand that I'm just saying how basketball is going to respond to the game we talking about three niggas and they not even the main guy it's how Wimby go first second and third and then who plays off that and then who plays around it no matter what if those two if three of them can't hit jump shots consistently they do nothing for Wimby on the floor that's crazy you want Wimby shooting 12 threes again a.

Night I know coming off that bench is coming off that bench. Man, motherfucker wouldn't be thinking about it.

He gets the max. He does have that true picture.

I'll be there.

I'll be the number two pick.

And that's what?

Like right now, this is the reality of it.

I'm listening.

What did Harper average last year? For the season? Hold on one second.

14, man.

But like 18 and 6 in the finals. Regular season.

What do you average?

14?

Okay.

I'm a host.

14 I'll just host like what I'm.

Saying 12 and 4 12 4 and 3.

Okay, 12 4 and 3 23 minutes again, and he's only what 19.

20 Yeah, yeah.

If this if if if if he was up as a free agent right now He's signing the max. He's signing a rookie max with the same numbers with those numbers as a sixth man That's a four-year.

100 Same numbers.

One, the title of starter is unlimited.

When you coming off the bench, you're capped off. That's the fucked up part.

Like, Lou Will? Five million a year?

Lou Will had a bad agent, and he put. Females over his career. He could have made $ 20 million a year. Nah, $ 6 million? He stayed in LA, bro. The money was in Utah or something, bro. That don't go with it.

Nah, bro.

They put the six-man tag on you. I'm going to tell you right now, if I'm a GM and you balling and you're my six-man, I damn sure not making you a starter until after you sign the money.

Because as a six man, you.

Can only you only get this player.

Do you believe the Spurs kind of run things a little bit differently? I'm just saying like I've seen Ginobili's money.

No, no, no. The cheapest also I ever see. And I'm asking a real question. That's it.

And I'm just wondering, like, yo, do you do you appease to Wimby and what's going to build better around him? Are you going to appease the three guard set tripping? That's all I'm saying. And you forget about it. We sit in there like, does it really flow? Is there a level where we'd be like, yo, I might sacrifice better off the bench? Who's the guard coming off the bench? Obviously, rotations are going to matter. I'm just saying, like, shit.

Are you going to get the best out of all of them playing together?

Yeah, let me ask you something.

I'm listening.

You started, right?

A little bit.

A little bit.

I got a difference.

When they call your name, them lights is dark as shit, right?

And they call your name every time. That shit hit way different than.

Timeout coming, you just another nigga just coming in the game.

You don't get no cheers.

You don't get nothing. You just subbed it.

Oh, FAA!

I get a little cheers. I'm saying, but you're absolutely right. But once they brought me off the bench, I was like, it's cool starting at 738. I get to figure out who to play. I play versus a weaker nigga.

That lineup plays a lot, though, right? They played in the finals.

I just want to see, because preseason is very different than when we played, like when I came in, It was like first game 15, second game 20. By the time we got to game six, seven, eight, I'm playing full 40-something minutes, right?

Preseason?

Yeah. Damn.

Like, we're, like, we're, like, our last preseason game is damn.

Near our first regular season game. Like, we're playing. Everybody know it, too. They're like, hey, bro, I'm not playing.

Yeah, like, the beginning of it is you're still trying to figure out your cuts.

So, you know, like, ah, yeah, okay, cool.

Like, once you make your cuts, then we working on our rotations, trying to figure out who's going to be who.

That's where we use it at. Yeah. Now, those guys are going to miss the last two, three games.

Mm-hmm.

Well, and then you're only playing like 20-something minutes now. So, what is your real rotation?

Yeah.

So, I need to see how it looks. How long are you going to play him? Are they going to get the.

First eight minutes together? Who's going to be the first sub? Like, what's that blue sheet? Because I know you got the blue sheet. Like, I know there's Castle, how the game looks, and how he plays. Castle's playing all 12.

Yeah, he's playing hard. He's playing all 12. Because.

his gift is he knows how to get fouled, and I don't want to take that ability out the last two minutes when we're in a penalty and bring out just a jump shooter, right? A guy who's just going to shit you, and they're not going to take advantage of that penalty. I need a guy that as soon as he's driving and he's getting fouled in the pump phase, he's going to eat up free throws in those last two minutes, right? So I don't give a shit what's going on. Unless he got two fouls, I got to sit him down. He's staying the whole 12. So then it's between Harper and Harper and Fox, who I'm going to sub out first.

You know what I mean?

At the three-minute mark, right, bring in Champagny, and then Harper or Fox, they're going to come, that'll come in for each other.

Right?

That's how I play it.

It's going to be Fox, fine. They get the short end of the stick.

That's what I was going to ask you guys. Who's the odd man out if this three-guard line-up don't work? No, you're going to go with Harper.

You're going to go with Harper because he's the youngest one.

He's probably the one you can still sell on.

Yeah, I can sell him on the idea of, yeah, we'll sub you first, bring you back in, and run a couple plays for him.

But like you were saying, you sell him on, you get to be the man in the second unit. and get an increased raw here, and you get to get your numbers right, and we're still going to break the bread.

Yeah, because I don't think he'll be happy until he feels like being a man. Like, I'm starting now, but when do I become the dominant ball handler? Like, the buddies in GQ saying, I ain't coming off the plate. Like, I'm not knocking it. I think Dylan Harper is elite. He don't turn a ball over. I think he's going to be unreal for the future. But we screaming out, hey, man, play him over an all-star that played in front of him 40% of the time and helped lead this team to where they're at. Like, It's one thing to be the guy coming off the bench. It's another thing to be the man going up against his Western Conference schedule.

And that's all I'm saying where it comes down to being like, hey, we keep trying to sacrifice Fox from it. Fox has been proven. Night in and night out.

That's all I'm saying.

Fox hurting the playoffs last year, so you got to give them that. So that less than standard performance, there was a reason for it. It wasn't like I'm full strength. I'm just playing like ass. I'm running. That's what I said.

I don't know what their plan is on their next few games. Spurs versus Thunder, ABC, right?

Season starts next week.

Was Eddie Jones the All-Star?

Yeah.

Eddie Jones was the All-Star?

Yeah. The year Kobe came, yeah.

Was Kobe the All-Star before?

Hell no.

Okay. Before Eddie Jones got shipped out, that's what I'm saying.

Yeah, Kobe was an officer. He got voted in.

The youngest officer ever.

Yeah, he got voted in.

Numbers-wise, Eddie Jones was the starter. In this current format, though, probably would have not been. Yeah, the way they do it now, he wouldn't.

Have been us. Then they traded Eddie Jones?

Not that year.

When did they trade Eddie Jones?

I can see something similar like this, Ron Harper and Dylan Fox.

So they had Eddie Jones... and then I think we got Glen Rice, too. And we got Glen Rice, too.

You still had to get another one to make up for crazy. I can see them doing that.

Kobe came off two years off the bench. That's still a problem, bro.

So basically when they realize okay.

Colb is sitting there right there.

That's what I'm saying.

We can move him in and then Glenn Rice is coming in.

We can put Glenn at the three.

Yeah, yeah.

But even then, you had to prepare.

But that's the third year.

Yeah.

So do we think this is going to work? Is it going to backfire? You're trying to appease all these egos.

But we're assuming that they have egos because the niggas played well. Like because they play well don't mean they have an ego and I need to start because I'm telling you right now.

I'm not even an ego giver, but like you're saying, I'm trying to get my bread right now.

Okay, but again, y'all are looking at the wrong person. These niggas practice every day.

They know.

You see Fox. They know who Fox is. They played against him every day in practice. He's an all-star. That means he's giving work. But I know who can't beat me, but he's in the lineup.

Right?

So if you're making the wrong decision, you lose the.

Team, too.

Like, you're going to have to say some stupid shit like, you know how you, in Portland? You think any of them stopping John Morant? But you're going to say, yeah, we're going to bring John Morant in.

The team fucked up. Oh, yeah, we good. Because if it don't make sense for all of us. You lose the group.

Soon as it.

Stops working, you lose the group. You're going to have people like, yo, put him in already. Once you do that, it's over. So with them, I like, I.

All.

Right, then you just got to go to heavy identity.

Okay, see right here, I'm saying, all right, look, I'm going to do, I will be doing Fox and Dylan.

Y'all start.

Y'all play the full, y'all play the full thing. I want to see it. I got to see.

Play the one and the two. And what do you do with Castle now? Castle's sitting in my house. And then Castle and Dylan.

This is pre-season.

No, I'm saying, you got the regular season started. I'm talking about pre-season. Pre-season, this shit should have been already handled.

I'm playing.

These dudes would have been my, I would have been playing them.

You two play this game. Or play this first half. You two play this second half. I want to see, and I'm talking about minutes. I want to see who you are in minutes.

Play. Go out there.

The ball is yours. Do you. I need to see you and your real.

Element.

You're the number two pick for a reason. We picked you number two for a reason.

So let me put you in that position. Let me see what you have. Because in reality, you don't know how much someone's sacrificing or holding back because of the team. So I need to see everything you actually have. So I need to say, hey, Wendy, sit down. We already know what the fuck you're going to do.

Sit down.

That's true.

Let me see what y'all young boys do. Y'all go out there and play these games. Play the 40 minutes. I need to see it before the season starts.

Season is here now, good. Last games of preseason. Motherfuckers play full games. Motherfuckers play full games.

They play like 25, 30 minutes in the finals together, though.

NBA, NBA, NBA trainers, let me tell you something.

Uh-oh. They don't think like you do.

Soft tissue tears, Achilles tears, they're happening because the body is deconditioned. The reason you didn't have it in the past is, remember, we start October 1st. If you take the first two weeks of us starting pre-season or training camp, we was not in shape. It took us to be conditioned, our muscles to be conditioned, our lungs to be conditioned, right?

It took 30 days. When the season started, physically, we was ready to go.

We had lifting. We had this. We had two-a-days. We were conditioned. Now, you don't practice as hard. You don't do much. You got four games, and then y'all about to come out next week and go full blast. I told y'all we start off 15, 20, 25, 30. By the time our last two games, we're.

Playing 40-something minutes.

Drop that smoke. Now you're playing 20 minutes.

15 minutes, no game, no game, and then go into the real season. Going down the highway, 120 miles an hour.

Yeah, you're pulling something. $ 1, 000.

Yeah, for sure.

$ 1, 000. I'm trying to get you some smoke, but this side don't work.

Oh, yeah, yeah. You're about there.

Hammy's is gone. Yeah, you're right.

And that's what they don't get. Like, y'all got a condition. Like, I hope some, like the smarter ones, they're going to be on the look.

They're going to be out there getting their shit, but some of you other guys who don't know the NBA like that, Man, get your body ready to go 100 miles an hour.

Yeah, 1,000.

Because the way the preseason designed, it was the older guys who didn't want to do preseason.

I mean, they didn't want to do training camp. They didn't want to do the two shits a day.

So they was trying to get the days cut down and the games cut down.

So they can get right to their bag.

Yeah.

Because they had hard summers working out, too, and hooped and everything.

Like, we had a summer workout, but, like, training camp them first two weeks? Yeah.

The first two weeks of training camp, we're doing two a days.

Yeah.

Three hours.

Yeah, that was crazy.

Nigga, the hour and a half of just straight conditioning, line drills.

They was going to CBA. It was like, yo, we got to, we here seven hours a day.

You know what I'm saying?

Like, two weeks.

Even two weeks.

If you took us at two weeks straight out of training camp and started the season.

Hell no.

Mm-hmm.

It took all them games to get our rhythm and our shot right.

And we were back around after Labor Day.

You know what I mean?

People start hooping, son. It's a different game. Playing matters besides the game.

Getting in and playing. In order to play basketball, you probably need to play. I feel like that's the key word. That'd be the last thing. You chip a toenail, they tell you, sit down.

Listen, I was in the Bahamas, bro, during Philly's training camp.

Were you impressed by it? This was last season, right Gil, if I'm not mistaken? What was they doing?

Niggas at the poolside. Look, I'm at the poolside eating nachos and shit. They at the poolside eating nachos the whole time.

Like, when you niggas working out?

There's not even no real gyms in Bahamas. They all like ran the fuck there.

I'm sitting here like, I'm sitting here with Melly, I'm like, Niggas drinking piña coladas, taking shots. Then, you know, Atlantis, we gambling. They had to gamble, shooting dice. I said, this is training camp?

And niggas hosting parties.

Like, niggas, y'all.

Couldn't get us out the room in training. We was hurting so bad. Like, I need the masseuse because we got to hurry up, eat, get the masseuse, go to sleep because we got the second one.

Yeah.

Right?

The first one ended at damn 2 o'clock. Next one, bus, 5 o'clock. 5 o'clock, bus.

You're right, man. You're all right.

Right? So there was no room for nothing. You can send us to the Bahamas. Niggas wasn't going to be at no poolside, nothing.

You can't enjoy the pool in the Bahamas.

Bruh, hell no.

Training camp, like, all you want to do is sleep.

Sleep.

And then they give you that training camp check. You down there, be like, yeah, give me that.

Shit, bro.

We working super hard.

I'm about to be running.

Huh?

I know I'm about to be running. I'm nervous and shit.

You hope your summertime workouts matter. You like, man, I hope I did conditioning.

And I used to tell anybody trying to make the team, I said, look, Your first day looking good, everybody look good the first day. You want to look good on the third day because that's when talent falls off. Motherfucker's sore, motherfucker's out here, his back hurting and shit. I said, so look, you don't want to go balls out right now.

I said, you might want to because you don't want to get cut the first day, but you want to be even.

You want to be here.

Day two, motherfucker start back hurting. Day three, Everybody's sore. That's when you want to be, that's when you want to stand out, right? And that's how that game was played. Like, now it's like, I ain't even going.

To lie, man.

I was looking at Philly training camp, and I'm sitting here like, ain't no fucking way. Wait.

There ain't enough stress in the gym.

Y'all niggas laughing?

Yeah, yeah.

It's supposed to be stress in the gym.

Did I catch you.

Looking like that?

If you live in Richmond, that's what we was having our training camp, Richmond.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And you think, like, there was no team dinner? That means that movies and shit. There was no team dinner. I'm about to practice.

What college was that? What college was it?

VCU. Yeah, yeah, VCU, man.

In the VCU, man. Junior Commonwealth. Like, all we seen was the gym in that hotel room.

You're not lying, bro.

Two weeks of it.

Ain't no girlfriend.

Ain't no work.

Low key, you were too tired.

Ain't no work. Ain't no flying nobody out. We ain't thinking about no work.

Bro, you not lying, G.

Miss my massage to.

Get some air?

I'm cool. You did it. Just make it through. No eaters welcome. Okay, no eaters welcome.

No eaters welcome is crazy.
