Well, let's talk about the Minnesota of the West. The Wyamber Wolves might be in for a rough stretch with Ant-Man sidelined for the next few months after having knee surgery. So Minnesota played their first game without Ant Wednesday at home against the Warriors, got lit up by Chef Curry to the tune of 44 points. Wolves trailed by as much as 24 in that game before a fourth-quarter rally fell short. They've lost back-to-back games after starting the season 3-0.
They had with the 47 against the Cavs in that loss. And obviously the news came out. Then they got smacked by the Warriors.
They ended up coming back and make it respectable. They almost won.
Being down 24 to that team. Yeah.
I mean, sunshine's on the dog's ass, everyone. So any team can get hot at some point. But they came back, showed some character. Again, like we talked about here with Bug the other day, like you lose your star, you're going to struggle. But this is where LaMelo, Kaminga get a chance to showcase. Terrence Shannon Jr.
Could step up.
Bones, like those guys got opportunity to show like they could be trustworthy and be really important, impactful pieces. So I think they'll be solid. But depending on their schedule, they're going to struggle. Anthony Edwards is out. That hurts them a lot.
So how should the Wolves approach these next few months without Ant-Man if they want to stay competitive in the Western Conference?
Just that.
Again, you have to have– LaMelo's got to be– Hopefully he's... More aggressive. Yeah, he's got to be a little more aggressive.
Rudy's got to.
He'll find his rhythm. He's not going to go 0 for the season. You know what I'm saying?
Like, he.
You know, get one or two to drop. He's got to handle them. He'll catch the ball, you know, here and there. Give them something on the offensive end. Defensively, he's always good.
But if you get.
That's why you have Kaminga, Jaden McDaniels. Like, those guys can hoop. Terrence Shannon Jr. You got to let them go a little bit.
He said.
Start of season, they'll be taking their diapers off. You're a young team, but it's time for y'all to grow up. This is where they can show it. I think it's probably time to get rid of Gobert. Just the comments he made.
What do you get, though?
Man, that's the.
You have to get more.
Four times? Four times.
But just the comments that he made. He said, my only issue with Melo is he got to slow down. Like, He's moving too fast.
That's his only issue.
But he can't keep up with the pace. He's like, they shooting before he even get down.
That's what they're supposed to wait for him for. But you already complained.
Like, we about to wait for you and throw you the ball in the post.
It's crazy.
I don't think they need him for much.
Yeah. So that's why I'm like.
They're going to need him some. They're going to need him some. But we're not throwing you the ball in the post to do some moves. Like, for that comment, that kind of threw me off. A little bit. But besides that, I feel like they still got a respectable team. They play hard.
You got Jadon McDaniels that's going to, you know, play hard on both ends. Kaminga, I mean, Kaminga, athletic, still proving himself. Got someone to prove mellow. His chance to, you know, show the world he's a, you know, winner.
Io DeSumo. Io, the Shannon guy. Tanner Shannon. Tanner Shannon. They got a squad, man, so. And it's different.
You know, you take time when a guy that takes, you know, 20-something shots a game for you, it's going to take a game or two to try to get that.
Yeah, yeah. Averaging.
Man, just have 45 out of the three or four games you played, two of them. It's going to take some time for them to, you know, adjust to that.
But.
I would say get somebody during this two-month span that could score. If I could, Trey Goldberg, I would for a scoring bid and somebody that could keep up with.
The pace a little bit.
It's tough to find, man. It is.
I don't know why Goldberg got that type of, I don't know, just that type of, when you think of his name, you don't see, you don't think the four-time defender. Like that don't hold weight for him like if it was anybody else like somebody would trade it'd be a good big trade.
For him So you send it on respect defense.
That's what I'm saying like if you want to trade a four-time defense player of the year you would think it would be it would come with damn near all-star or a couple picks something like that but so what you're saying is who could you check over what.
You're saying is you know like you know how defense wins championships you would think that there's a bunch of teams that's willing to line.
Up for this he'll take paulo and uh wagner and give me this but you said nobody nobody's nobody knocking on the door huh no one knocking on that door that's.
What history is saying.
It just seems like the public stands on the defense.
Them GMs. Them GMs be like, you know, whoa, relax. How about this one? How about this one? Would you trade Gobert for Sabonis? Sabonis and Portland? No, Zach, yeah. If I'm Portland? No, if you're Minnesota.
No, no, I'm sorry.
If I'm Minnesota? Hell yeah. Hell yeah, right? Hell yeah. Get him the fuck on out of here.
Where was your defense at when that nigga was scoring 44? It was a bonus.
You actually had 26 in that game, if I'm not mistaken.
Yeah, I mean, you know, okay, so the one game that they lost without, you know, it's a shell shock.
You lost your guy.
Now you guys got to figure out what is our secondary offense, right? You know, everything was go to Ant, do Ant do his thing. We swing it around now. We got to sit here and figure out who's going to replace Ant if we don't have one person.
Then we're all going to do a little bit.
But then you have Steph being Steph. Right? He's... he's playing superstar basketball, right? He's doing what he does when he was great, right? It's not like, okay, he had 25 or 30. No, he went out of body. He got 44, so you're losing to, you know, that performance.
And Yaxel.
You know, and then, you know, Yaxel. But if Steph had 25 and Yaxel has his 20, you know, they get blown out a little bit, right? But, you know, you know. Kirby went to the fifth line 16 times, which means– Which means Melo had to be in foul trouble. There had to be a couple people in foul trouble if he shot 16 free throws.
Who did? Steph shot 16 free throws. So, you know what I mean? Someone had to be fouling.
Right?
That means they had to sit on that bench.
In foul trouble. They were beating the hell out of them early on. So it would have been a closer game and they possibly could have won if those guys didn't go off, but.
Yeah.
Again, it's going to be a test.
It'll be all right. It'll be all right.
It's going to be all right, but it's a.
Character test for them to see if hopefully they don't self-implode because when you see the nature they had with the conversation on the bench, it didn't look like it was a good start to a locker room season. You want everybody to be on the same page and everybody cool, especially while things are kind of in, say, turmoil, but your star is down right now.
So, Danny, I'm glad you brought that up. A honeymoon appears to be over in Minnesota. with this video surfacing during their game Wednesday night showing LaMelo Ball and Kaminga appearing to be visibly frustrated with Rudy Gobert during a timeout. We'll let you be the judge. You see both of them, very animated, talking to Gobert. Gobert looking the other way.
His fellow Frenchman, Yohan Barrett. That's kind of crazy. The newest guys on the team. Gobert like, I'm going to suck. So the incident took place in the fourth quarter as the Wolves were rallying to try and overcome a 24-point deficit. Colbert had one point and four rebounds in 20 minutes of action. Gone 0 for 13 from the field in the Wolves' last two games.
0 for 13?
0 for 13.
0 for two in the last two games. Not that game. That game, 0 for what? Last game. 4. 0 for 4?
Yeah.
You get a lot of shots.
But the rebounds is where I have the issue. If you're going to be out there, you got to. And we've seen Nasri get benched for a whole second half. He had six rebounds at the half. Yeah, that was an interesting situation in Charlotte.
Hey, wait, wait, wait. You said he's 0 in what? 0 for 13 in the last two games. Last two games.
Because he's 0 for 9 the game before that, and he's 0 for 4 the last game.
At some point.
So the person who stands right under the rim, who's taking 13 shots somewhere around this area.
Can't get a point, yeah. Has missed all of them. Okay.
But, nah, at some point, Gobert got a soccer motherfucker, though. Like, at some point in his life, like, the disrespect, they just feel like.
Motherfucker, you're stupid. He just, I'm tired of these niggas disrespecting me. One nigga choked me on national. Playing against the.
Yeah, playing against the Warriors, too, the one that choked him. He can't punk the person that choked him.
Remember, Kameka was on that team, so I called him a.
One standing up over you like, this motherfucker.
And the other one, green, like, yeah, he's a stupid motherfucker. I told him to move. He didn't move. Look at that video. Gobert is in it. Kylo, can we watch that video one more time, please? Look at LaMelo and Kaminga, both new to the team. You know, LaMelo said, this nigga's dumb, bro.
Look, come on.
You gotta be smarter. Yohan Barajay coming in to offer some emotional support. Make the motherfucking layup. What the fuck?
You're the tallest person out there.
God damn. Put the ball in the basket. You scared to go? Oh, yeah, Draymond, I forgot. He probably scared of Draymond.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, fuck yeah.
Draymond doesn't have mind control. Draymond came in that motherfucker like this. You get choked by somebody. It's like being slapped. It has been known to choke your roast, near and far. But on Thursday, a four-time Defensive Player of the Year was asked about the incident and had this response.
How is just the communication going with everybody back and forth, like, as you guys kind of get your first taste of adversity and things to work on here? Uh, I feel like.
I don't... I didn't feel like there was any of that. I don't know. I'm not on social media.
Sure.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It was like Lomelo and JK were.
Talking to you. Sometimes people make an assumption of what's going on and it's totally something different with the angles and stuff. There might be some of that but I didn't feel any animosity. There was some frustration for sure.
I was frustrated.
They were frustrated.
I mean, we see the end of that all the time. It's not a bad thing.
But, yeah, I feel like, I mean, those guys have been great. You know, the communication has been good. You know, we've been, yeah, really trying to help them integrate. And then also, you know, when you have a frustrating night, like sometimes there's frustration, but I didn't feel like there was any disrespect or anything like that.
So that incident took place in the fourth quarter, yeah?
They had to come back. They were making a comeback.
And then what happened, though?
They lost, but I don't know what happened. That possession.
I can find it.
He could have been talking to the huddle.
Nigga was being French.
He could have been talking to the huddle. It might have been directly at Rudy. It could have been the whole huddle. Like, yo, we need to do this.
No, no, no. That shit was at Rudy.
Somebody had to shake your hand to make you feel like, come on, you got it, brother.
Call him a fat black N-word.
Nah. Usually conversations like that.
How it looked, it looked more defensive. Something like a switch or something. You know what I mean? It was like.
Somebody assigned it or he didn't come over to help and block it.
Something happened where it.
Was like, where are you supposed to.
Go get that? That's what I said.
It was like, I want to see what happened before the timeout.
So, Gobert's had a disappointing start to the season. He's averaging 7 points, 12 rebounds. 12? Wait, 12 rebounds? Every point's 12 rebounds.
That's good as hell.
What are you talking about?
The seven points, but the 12.
The 12 rebounds.
Yeah, 12 was good.
12 was good, but I think he had one– what was his high rebound game? He probably like 16, 18. He always gets one of those high rebound games.
Oh, okay.
Last game he had four. So, like, if he's still averaging 12 with the four rebound performance, he's had a, you know, two good rebound games. But, again, if you're out there for defense and rebounds, He had 5.20 rebounds against the Cavs.
Yeah, that sounds about right. He had a 20-rebound game. 5-15 in the first game of the season.
Yeah.
So. Yeah.
But.
Before the other night, he was averaging like 18, probably like 16 rebounds.
But when you look at this, is LaMelo coming and going at Rudy big deal or just part of the game, part of the team figuring itself out?
Just part of it. Again, those are the two newest guys.
Yeah.
You know.
It's part of them figuring each other out while Ant is out right now. It's part of the game. It's part of basketball. And how those young guys come out.
They'll be fine. It's how they operate. It's how they talk to each other.
They'll be all right. Yeah.
If I'm Cobra, I can't be the guy you take your frustration out on all the time. At some point, I will, you know, I'll crack jokes about him, but he do got to speak up for himself.
Yeah, check. Yeah, check somebody. Because, yeah. Yeah.
Don't make me, like, we all getting our ass bust. Somebody was guarding Curry, and he had 44. They always make him escape. They don't make me to escape, though. Like, I say something, like, shit. Two motherfuckers, and they're new to the team. And you feel you can talk to me because it's go bird. Yeah, like you didn't do that to Jalen Daniels or Shannon.
You about to slap the move, bitch. You got to hit it with that French. Right? Yeah, like at some point, like. I don't know. I just.
I know you don't do it right there. You just do it in the locker room. Or you say, all right, motherfucker, that's enough. All this hands in my face and shit.
Like... I just be feeling sorry for Goldberg sometimes.
I gotta see the context, right?
Like, because....
You know, in the middle of the game, obviously, when you get to the sideline, like, you're white, you should have got over this. You know, it's usually, usually shit like that is always on the defensive side.
Yeah. Right?
Well, you're supposed to fucking fight over. I said down. I didn't hear you.
Like, it ain't really, it just looks bad. Like, what he's saying, it makes sense.
Like, he probably didn't even know what they was talking about.
Yeah.
Like, he would have to see it in real time because that's what we do all game. You know what I mean? Like, you know, if you watch me and, you know, Brendan... And in the timeout, he's always yelling at me to fight over the screen.
Yeah. Some shit you don't care about. Yeah, like, no, that shit hurt. I'm going under. Right? And you know what I mean?
And it's like, yo, come on, fight over. I told you to down it. So it's usually more defensive. Like when AD and.
Dwight in the playoffs.
Defense assignment. There's always going to be defense assignments, right? Like, you know, you're trying to hold each other accountable on that end of the court. Offense, you know, we got plays for that. But defense... We got to be able to hold our own. So I don't see it as a big deal. But if you're Ant-Man, remember, how you feel is how they feel.
Right?
So you're saying, nigga, we come into town, we whooping ass and all that stuff.
Yeah.
That's you instilling that in them.
Meaning....
If you're not on the bench at all time and talking, it could go sideways.
Remember, Kaminga's coming from somewhere else. Yeah. Right? You know what I mean? So is LaMelo's. You know what I mean? So it can go.
Anyway, so if you're there making sure everyone's still positive, your energy is leading, then you won't have to worry about the team having a big draw.
But does that ever feel like a reflection of any man's energy?
He wasn't there?
No, he can't be there right now because he just has.
He had surgery. That game was Wednesday. Hey, man.
Hey, man.
Do you want to win? Do you want to win the championship?
What'd you say, Josiah?
You know, that first two, three days of getting your shit clean, you can't sit on no damn bed.
But he had the surgery on Thursday. That game was Wednesday. But to the bigger issue, is that a reflection of Ant-Man's energy towards Gobert? You look at Jada McDaniels. You look at LaMelo. They were at the Ant-Man Awards at the crib when Ant said he was going to be all that bullshit all season long. Are they taking that energy now? and transferring it through.
No, that energy, you can't, you can keep it in, like you, no, their energy is their energy now. That's what I'm saying. He needs to be on there for them to still be on the bull shit.
To be on that rah-rah.
It's important for guys, especially superstars.
Ant's gone at Gobert before, though, is my point.
No, I'm not talking about go at, I'm just talking about go out and play the style that Ant is putting to them, right? That confidence of we're better than everybody. That's Ant's confidence. And he's, he's making sure they're with him.
When he's off, then they're on their own.
And if you're trying to keep this team above water and you want them to play and so when you come back, everything is like that, then you need to be on that bench making sure you're there, you know, speaking to them, keeping them positive.
That was an important thing back in the day, like even if injured guys were there.
Yep.
Not as much anymore.
Do you think Gentleman Daniel should have stepped up right there too?
Because he's a big part of that too. We got to know what it is. His energy, yeah.
That's what I'm saying. We got to know what they were talking about.
Yeah. We just saw an angle. Obviously, Gobert said not a big deal. I'm going for it. Play by play, but once you get to the fourth quarter, communication goes back to the first. What time was that? Do you remember? Three days ago. Two days ago.
Tell me what time it was.
I'm not going to find exactly what it was.
What was the question, Joe?
Danny, there are no questions in life. Only answers. Only answers. But do we feel like this is a big deal? Yeah, I don't think it's a big deal. This is things that happen on NBA benches. It happens.
It happens all the time.
I'm trying to get the play-by-play. All right. Yeah, all.
Right.
Yeah, all right. Blue face. But, yeah, we'll see. It's going to be interesting to see what these Wolves look like. Obviously, we're the darling of the league to start off this season. Now drop two straight back in action tonight against the Clippers. The NBA Cup. The NBA Cup time? Good. It's NBA Cup Friday. The first. First Friday of NBA Cup group play. Yeah.
But let's keep.
That's too many games. So, Slate.
Ten games. I think it's 12 last week. Did you get that time? Couldn't locate the time for you. Can you... He just played real quick. He didn't get the time. It wasn't... Didn't have time to score on the timeout on that one? I think it was the league pass special where they cut to the... Yeah. We don't know the time, the score, nothing.
Ayo there, just kind of chilling.
So we don't know.
Does anybody know if this was like towards the end of the game, middle, beginning, there's a three, nine minute, six minute, three minute, fucking only three timeouts.
He's fucking up in the back. In the front, Paolo. In the front. He's talking like that, though. All right, let me see. Go to the stairs.
Man, fuck what happened before.
That ain't a no, it isn't. You said Jaden Daniels stepped up?
I didn't even see Jaden Daniels on the bench right there.
He was there at the Afro. He was on the right side.
But, yeah. Bro, let's trip walk to the next topic. Y'all can get to the next topic. On the dead homies. On the dead homies. Let's stay in the West. A shift over to the Nuggets. Stay in the West. Who have left much to be desired so far this season with their 2-2 start. But Wednesday, three-time MVP Nikola Jokic joined an exclusive club in the Nuggets' win over the Pelicans.
Let's take a look at the highlights, please, Paolo. Thank you. Jokic messed around and dropped his 200th career triple-double. He had 21 points, 13 rebounds. Ten assists as the Nuggets got the wire-to-wire win over the still, or no, over the winless Pelicans. Pelicans ended up beating the Kings to get their first win of the season in the doo-doo ball. Man, what the.
Hell was that? He had seven turnovers, 21-13, 10-7.
So Jokic joins Russell Westbrook, only players in league history with 200 or more triple-doubles. It was his 16th triple-double against the Pelicans, which is six more than he has against any other team. in the league. Let's take some time to just enjoy that defense. Did have seven turnovers, Danny, but... DeJounte, like, where the hell's the help at? Pass it back. Look at that shit, yeah. Oh, but Yogi's still looking. Wait, who the fuck was that? Yeah, he just... Look at this. Hey, who was that who just monkey jumped? Yeah, monkey dunked this shit.
Dude, that wasn't Aaron Gordon.
No, that's what I'm saying. Who the hell was that?
Give it back.
Yeah, somebody.
No, I said give it back. I'm just going to play.
Yeah, yeah.
That wasn't Strother.
Spencer Jones, maybe.
I'm not 100%. Who that was? Number one or number seven. It was somebody.
I think it was the big. What was the big?
Monkey Dunk. He monkey dunked that shit off that ball. Monkey Dunking. But let's talk a little bit about Jokic. Jokic. 200. Career triple-doubles, Danny, what are your thoughts on Jokic joining the 200 triple-double club with Russell Westbrook?
I feel like his team has failed in the last couple of years. This is a guy that probably could have, he has three MVPs, right? He could have one or two more, but not in the conversation as much because of how bad their play is as a group. And this year they'd look even worse, which I expected them.
Oh, it's Brazil, I think, Trayvon Brazil.
Yeah.
I expected them, even though they lost last year, didn't look good, they would have a better start to the year. A group that knows each other, they have the DNA, they've been there. They obviously lost some pieces. Watson's gone. Bruce Brown, they lost after the championship the first time. But they still have their core. MPJ, another big core piece that changed. But yeah, I expected them to be better than what they are right now. But Jokic, he's a well-oiled machine. He gets the ball you know you're going to get from him. And every night he's going to give you 25 plus, or if he does under, then he's going to make that point up and assist and rebound somehow. This is a guy that's averaged a triple-double for a.
Number of years. Two seasons in a row and did not win MVP in either of those seasons. That's correct. That's SGA. Going back-to-back, Swaggy. Let's shift over to you, Nikola Jokic. 200 career triple-doubles. Does Jokic deserve more love in the conversation amongst the best centers in NBA history? Three-time MVP, one-time champion. Um, I say, yeah, you.
Make the game look so easy, bro. Uh, just looking at how the Pelicans are playing defense on them. It looked like they wasn't even playing defense. It's like, it makes the game easy. I'm not ready to worry about Denver. Um, I don't think anybody. Yeah, it's pretty much championship or bust when Joker's on that floor for them. They're a team that you'd be shocked when they, you know, lose.
Like last year, you losing the first round to Minnesota.
Without A.E.
Yeah, so. But with Joker, I don't know how he does it. He's, he don't look like he could barely get off the floor. Ain't no dunks, but he going to give you 30 and 12 and 12.
It's crazy.
So he makes it easy for everybody else on his team. Top five when it's all said.
And done, I believe. Top five center, top five player? Center. Okay. Center. Gil, shift over to you. Gil gets 200 career triple doubles. How impressive is that feat?
I mean, it's impressive, you know, just to have a big with, you know, that skill set. Passing, vision, understanding the game, right, you know. Remember, I mean, just to have the skill set, you have to be smart, right? It's not like you can just go off and just... just straight raw ability, you know, when you're talking about passing the ball and having that type of vision. I mean, because you have to, you know, you got to understand the defense, offense, how people move, right?
So, you know, very brilliant guy.
If he was in a bigger market, I mean, he would have multiple championships because they would have kept adding better pieces.
Right.
They won a championship when they were supposed to. You know, ever since then, it's just been going backwards with, you know, you know who they're.
Bringing to the table.
Because, you know, you got to always worry about, you know, his contract coming up and paying him the max the max money so he can stay.
It's time for him to leave.
Huh?
Is it time for him to leave?
With him, it's so weird.
Like, if he said he didn't care about awards.
I'll still look at it sideways, but I.
Don't know if loyalty plays a role in his life.
Well, he served me in Guild. Very loyal people. Or, you know, like, I'm going to go win more and do more.
I mean, I don't, you know, he's one of those guys you just never know.
I don't think you can question his desire to want to win, though. They can talk about maybe him not caring about the hoopla and the limelight and all that stuff.
For the most part, man, when it comes to NBA players, we get a reality check when we come to the NBA. Right? When we're in Middle school, we're, like, praised, right? High school, we're praised. You're paying us. You're giving us free shit.
We're loved, right? We don't hear negativity. Like, college, same thing.
We don't get reality checks until we come to the NBA and then you telling us some shit, right?
They come up right now.
Oh, yeah, you know, you this, that, that. This is the first time you see a negative shit.
Like, wait, who the fuck is this happening? Right? Right, so.
You don't care about the spotlight because they're spotlighting everything.
When I don't pass the ball, they call me a ball hog. Yeah. But I don't want you to say that shit out loud. I know what I'm doing. They know what I'm doing.
I don't want to get my teammates any extra superpower of wanting the ball. You want to see that guy win so he can get into being the 4th, 5th.
I mean, fourth, third, second, best center of all time. Right now, he's five. He'd be five.
I mean, you know, it's the one championship. Most of the guys in front of him have multiple chips with finals MVPs and that. And you can say, oh, yes, he has the assists, the triple doubles, What he don't have that the other ones have is defense awards. So most of those guys are sitting on defensive teams.
Right.
So when you're talking about he's passing, they're defending. So, you know, you got to sit there and wait it out. So, you know, you know, it kind of like balances itself. So, you know, he wins another championship, you know, two more than you. Now you're talking about being, you know, third, fourth.
You think you do that there?
They gotta get lucky. Just like they got lucky with him.
You gotta get, You got to get lucky and understand what you have. Find a guy that's fucking sitting in, you know, the draft room at fucking 50.
You know what I mean?
You fucking find a Yaxel, you know, a player like that, you know, in a draft.
But that's real scouting, though. So you look at top five centers, you can put the list however you want, but you got Kareem, Wilt, Shaq, Hakeem, Bill Russell in the mix there. You know Gil about to take out Bill. You know you're going to take out Bill. It's almost all the way. You know why? You know I always have a reason why.
Because if you point out the advantages that were given four 11 rings, then you can understand, you can't judge, you can't penalize this era.
You can't penalize this era for the past.
Like, you have to grade it on a curve or it's really unfair. If you're saying championships matter and stuff like this, because you do it, you do it on a curve, but you don't tell anybody. So when you're sitting here talking about like, oh, they have know eight all-stars well technically they're today's two yeah right they're not the same there's there's there's fucking 80 people in the league in 22 all-stars so so you know what i mean like it's just.
That ain't that ain't you know one foot you know one for.
The fucking league makes all as long as you started you made the all-star game so your eight is not the same as today's two So you have to weigh in everything to understand why everything is what it is. So when you're talking about rings and you're talking about 11 rings, you're not talking about a time where.
Everything was rigged to its fullest.
You have two top five MVP candidates on the same team with another all-star, and then you get the number one pick in the draft, And then the number two pick in the draft wants to come to the team. So then you got that team with the number one and the number two player coming to your team. That doesn't happen. That's like AJ and Peterson going to.
OKC. They didn't win the.
Championship last year, but they have the MVP on the team. And then you add those two guys to that team. And then from there, Because there was no free agency, everything is trades. Now, that team being Boston and their superpower, I can go to every team and say, hey, San Antonio, let me get win before the year.
All right, cool.
Hey, Miami, let me get, you know, let me get Bam and what's his name?
Okay, cool. So now you're looking at that.
There's a reason that they got fucking 42 jerseys, you know, up there because they were just grabbing everybody.
Will is over there.
So let me just keep grabbing everybody. And Will was like, fuck that. Let me just go to the Lakers.
You know what I mean? So it was a different time.
But, you know, this generation and, you know, this generation is being penalized by, you know, the past. And that's why I said you got to go back in history. Give everybody the right awards.
Right.
You know, you know, go back. Russell finals MVP. Figure out the 11 championships.
Who was who?
Yeah.
Give those awards out. Blocks.
Give those awards out because it wasn't there was an end then. So then, you know, that would change. Then, you know, Will Chamberlain will lead in, you know, triple doubles because he averaged 14.
Blocks for his career from what they said. I don't know.
I think Jamal can't get it right.
It might be a need to be a change.
But he still needs to win. He's going to have to go somewhere.
Yeah. Team up. Let's talk a little bit more about Jokic and his current and his future. So in the Nuggets home opener, Denver had to overcome a 23-point deficit to beat the Pelicans in overtime. Jokic had his 199th career triple-double in that game. He had 35 points, 15 boards, 10 dimes. Jamal Murray had 42 and 6 assists. But the three-time MVP took issue with the home crowd. booing his squad during the game. We get booed the.
First home game, and I think those fans who booed us, they don't need to come anymore. Because if you guys follow us, you know that we never quit, and we came back from much worse of a situation, so if they ask me, they're not welcome anymore.
He doubled down on those comments, too. They booed him again in their next home game. The crowd did? The crowd booed him. Bye-bye. Bye-bye-bye-bye-bye. When they lost by 20 to the Warriors. Damn. The joke is not playing. Disrespect me as hard as I work for y'all. Ungrateful asses all these years. We never quit. We always play hard for y'all.
If they can't get right this year, they got to reevaluate.
When is he up? End of this year, right?
I believe.
Hold on. Give me a second. He's done.
Remember I said that about Giannis.
He said he's going to sign an extension.
Once you boo at home, it hits different.
That's not a great feeling. Player option in the summer, $ 63 million. Yeah.
It's not a great feeling. Getting booed on the road is your greatness. Getting booed at home means they're really disgusted with your play at that moment in time.
You just don't want to.
You know, we're going to have moments like this.
That's 20 to the Warriors. How did that slow shit?
I get it.
You get punked in the playoff. You're what, the three-seed or two-seed?
I get it, but it happens.
They're the three-seed, right? They're the three-seed.
Yeah, you're tired of seeing that shit.
Like, as a fan, I need you to really think about the concept.
You losing to the Warriors. When you're booing me, what do you expect is going to happen? Me to get going. It's going to motivate you to play harder, Gil, for fans who spent their hard-earned money to come watch you play basketball. So that's the theory? No, I'm fucking right.
No, no, I mean, that's the theory, right? It's supposed to make me go play harder. Have you ever seen a comedian get booed when they're on stage? Do they tell better jokes? Or do they say, all right, fuck y'all and leave? Have you ever seen a rapper getting booed on stage?
He don't reward. You just tell me. He don't reward ass shit.
Does he finish the concert?
You want me to be like, yay, keep missing.
Yay.
If you was.
Giving your swag EP strokes, and she's booing your strokes.
You going to finish up? Are you going to finish?
Are you going to get the fuck up out of here?
Are you going to use that as motivation? I'm always finished.
Boo.
This week, boo. You know what? All right, I'm out.
That's what happens, man. Mentally, man, you just don't want to be there no more.
You just said we're losing. That nigga's gone. He's gone. Boo.
He played the second game, they booed.
I think he played both.
Oh, he played both.
Yeah, Draymond was locking his ass up. Home opener, they were down like 23 to the Pelicans. On a home opener, first game of the season? The home opener in there, so second game. Oh, Demi, y'all need y'all ass whooped.
No.
Our home opener and your home opener, they were losing to the Pelicans in overtime.
When they was losing to the Cleveland, they came back. LeBron said he liked the booze. He didn't mind. He appreciated Philly fans. Of course. For motivating this team. He loved the Philly experience.
He been booed since he came in this league, so he used it as shit.
It ain't shit for me. I can't handle a boo. I'm going to leave because you booed me. Uh-huh. Yeah, I booed me. Boo. Nigga, you done got booed a thousand times in D.C. Hell nah. Man. Them niggas just booing y'all. You was there, Gil.
I was on Ricky seeing y'all getting booed, motherfucker, when Celtics came and whooped y'all ass first game.
Boo! Boo! Get their ass off the court. To y'all, yeah. I was there when they was booing a nigga. I even had to test it, right? Got the ball, boo! Get a rock. Boo! In the back. You know what? Pass it to you. Pass it to you. Boo! Like, yeah, you know what, coach? Nah, I'm not going.
With that one.
No, I'm just saying. But that's, I lived that. That's different. That's different. I lived that. No, they booed all y'all. Boo, boo, boo. Everybody get booed.
I remember asking Christian Laitner about booing. He said he had to go to therapy because of that shit. He said, imagine going to an NBA arena and you get booed everywhere you go.
That's why they started the participation awards.
Who?
The participation awards for everybody. Because you can't handle a boo. I got to seek fucking mental help. For one game, getting booed at home.
Two. Game over then. Game opener. This is game opener. This is the home opener, dog.
This is the first game of the season.
It don't matter. Y'all done set the fucking tone.
Well, you can't handle basketball. That's trash talk. It's on the same level.
That's trash talk. It's on the same level. No, it's not.
A fan talking trash to you, you're going to get mad and be like, man, he's talking to me.
He's talking. That's what they do. He said, don't come to the games anymore if you want to do everything I've done for y'all.
It's different when you're the superstar.
Though. I got a player option next summer.
Swag, if you're the superstar, are you going to stay there?
What did Giannis say? When he addressed the crowd?
Is he the one? Didn't he flick the motherfuckers off? Yeah. Didn't Giannis figure it? He got mad and booed him back. Oh, booed him back. Thumbs down.
Yeah, booed him back and thumbs down.
Yep. Man. Always the Euros. Emotional. Yeah, man. Hey, look, L.A., L.A., L.A., we ain't booing you, man. We don't want your stuff. Two thumbs down.
If you can't handle a boo, you can't handle L.A.
From the home crowd? L.A., you can't handle L.A. if you can't handle a boo.
Shh.
I'm sure you can. We're trying to get the nigga over here.
We don't boo here, man. Get him in the building first and then reality kick in later.
Yogi's talked all this shit about Europe and how NBA players need to go over there and the games are all turnt up and shit. What? They throwing batteries and... Yeah, they smoking in the arena. Cigarettes... Grenades and shit. He talking about a couple of tools.
You're not throwing batteries at him.
Shit.
If you playing your rival at another arena, yes.
They boo you. No matter. We're talking about at home. Imagine a nigga throwing a battery at you at home. Right behind you.
Got a Nick Young jersey on. And that nigga says, I'm disgusted with your play. Yes.
You're down 30. Yes. I'm disgusted. You're supposed to beat the Warriors, motherfucker. Got your jersey on.
You just gave this nigga a high five when you made a shot. And then he's like, I'm disgusted. And then threw some shit at you.
Oh, my God. You're done. We do it all the time.
Every time you make a trade or something on Polymark and your shit don't hit, you call your people ass. Every time you make a bet, everybody ass. You down 30 to the Warriors. You want me to say, good job. Who the fuck the Warriors got?
Yaxel Hindenburg. And Yaxel.
Would you trade Joker for Steph Curry right now in their career?
All right, then. You're supposed to whoop their ass.
I'm not worried about Golden State.
Golden State is champions. They champions too. They won. Them Pelicans? Them Pelicans? They down 30 to Pelicans.
You down 30 to Pelicans, you need to get booed.
I mean, you do need to get booed, but you need to pick who you're booing.
But everybody on the floor I can't be like you pass boo pass to.
This guy, but no I never see the DC did that shit they get boo when they come in the game.
I'm just do not no no Every time I touch the head who are like damn, it's so sad.
An ominous sign of things to come with your kid you got Nuggets fan. He's about to have a player option extension eligible and Man, Yoke has.
Never addressed the crowd, right? He's never addressed the crowd. He's a three-time MVP, and this is the beginning of the season, and he's saying, hey, you guys are acting like y'all never seen us come back, and y'all think we've never.
Given up on y'all.
Like, we've never given up in a game, so the fact that this is the energy you're on, you know... My time here, I need to go somewhere where they're going to appreciate it.
But that's the sad part. One boo can do it. Well, first of all, you don't appreciate us.
I ain't seen a nigga do one fan appreciation day in Denver. The motherfucker act like he don't care about Denver. He don't come out and shake hands with motherfuckers.
Have you seen that? He did actually have a handshaking day in Denver last season. A handshaking day? I was about to say, that's crazy. I got three. I got three. I've never seen him do no shit like that. It don't matter. It don't matter. He did it. Everybody do it. He did bring a championship and three MVPs.
And didn't show up to the parade. He was out there horsebacking after.
Like, fuck Denver.
He didn't come back to Denver one time. I got the city on fire. That triple-double, that triple-double, them trophies sit here in this city.
No, no, no, they ain't sitting here. They sitting here in this city. MVP sitting here in this city, 3-0. Championship here. You boo me one time, I'm out. You think the boos would have booed Michael Jordan? Boo me again and see what happens.
You think the Lakers booed Magic Johnson?
Hell no. You think Boston... Booed? They booed Kobe? Did you think they booed Larry Bird? They booed him when they was asked?
Who?
The Lakers. Oh, yeah. No, no, no. That's what I'm saying. Nigga, they booed him when Shaq left?
Yeah.
People don't know that. They booed because it was mad. And then, you know, he started doing what he started doing. You know, we forgot about that. Coming to Philly, Jokic. They're not booing you. They're saying boo. But anyway, let's keep moving.
Shit, he's staying in Denver. Philly ain't too far. Like, you think he gonna come to Denver?
I mean, Philly? You was about to say that. Los Angeles.
He's probably gonna come join Luka. He's joining Luka. You crazy as hell. Two niggas speak the same language. Yes.
They do have familiarity with each other. They don't speak the same language. It's no time like that. You know, brother, you know them Euros, man. They smart as a nigga. They got like four, five languages. Multi-language. They got, they multi-ed over there.
Yeah.
Tri-lingual.
Two?
No, you'll get to speak how many?
Four?
Two.
Probably three.
Three?
Yeah, you I speak different languages Put that shit on me this morning you Speak all kind of shit. I speak Serbian in English.
Yeah So how many yoga? No, that's a that's how many yoga. Okay. Yeah Luca on the other hand say four languages Luka got four understand the fifth. I told you Slovenian his native tongue Spanish and English, Serbian.
You don't act like I don't know my favorite player.
So he speaks Jokic, nigga. He ain't from Jokic. He speaks it.
And then I understand some shit that.
I don't supposed to understand.
So I'm sitting here like.
This outfit came with a sellout? On the next year? A sellout outfit? Yes, sir. All right, well, let's keep moving. You know they smarter than us. You got full languages.
I understand that.
Friday here in the arena. Halloween tomorrow, but NBA Cup pool play matchups begin tonight. Teams battle for a chance to hang an in-season championship banner in the arena like LeBron James did for the Lakers during his time in L.A. The inaugural one, but you guys are ungrateful. Did not appreciate it. This year, the December championship game destination shifts from Vegas to Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. That's right. The league is going from Sin City to the Heartland to play the championship game in the same gym where the movie Hoosiers was filmed. All right, man. Nostalgia, Gil. All right, man. Indiana, also the home of who? 2300 Jackson Street.
Mm-hmm.
That's just for this year?
I think they're changing it every year. They're testing it out. They might go back.
They tested it out and go to Indiana?
Yeah, I don't know why Indiana.
Maybe because All-Star wasn't too bad when they went there a couple years?
It was. It was so bad that they changed the rules and said, you must have a big city.
You gotta have this many five-star hotels.
Yeah, I don't know, man. But they'll probably go back to Vegas or try another city. Who knows?
Vegas. Fun city. Shout out to the win. Steve Wynn.
Hey, this is going to be the first year where teams taint not to go to Indiana for.
The rest. And it don't count, right, on their record? No, it does count. The only championship game doesn't count. But let's take a look at the 10-game NBA Cup slate for this evening. But they win big money. A lot of interesting matchups. We also get to see these new NBA Cup courts. And the statement edition uniforms to match.
Friday features a rematch between the defending champion Knicks and the Sixers in Philly after the Sixers spoiled the ring night, the Knicks ring night on opening night. Brandon Miller and the three or two Hornets are visiting in the nation's capital face. Trey A.D. and A.J. DeBonsa and the Wizards, the Red Hot Rockets sitting at 5-0, pulling up to Dallas to take on Cooper Flag Kyrie in the three and two Mavs Texas showdown. And in another early season rematch the basketball world has been waiting for, the 4-1 Snowtime Lakers head up to the Bay to take on the Warriors as we get Luka versus Yaxel Foley, Yaxel Lindenberg, round two. Yaxel said Luka's a Slovenian bitch in so many words. Yeah, he better have that. In so many words. Yeah,
not because he hurt him, because, you know, he was Puerto Rican? Puerto Rican, Dominican. I know black. Yeah, and Luka understands that. Luka understands that. He black, he black.
50-50.
Luka also speaks Jive. So 7 p.m.? Everybody's like, oh, you can't. You got to. We said what we said. 7 p.m.
Yeah.
That shit do be getting in the way. I've been wanting to tell you that. It's a good-ass game. You might start early. What matchups are you guys looking forward to tonight?
The NBA group play action.
The obvious is the Knicks-Philly.
Hmm.
People want to see that one, but y'all think it's going to be built. I think it's going to be a good game.
I just want to see Luka versus Yaxl.
I know Blaxo. Yeah, Lakers-Warriors is going to be a solid one.
Because if he don't have the performance... Yaxl locked up Luka last time they played. If Luka don't have the performance... oh, I can't wait. You know what I know about Luka? What did Luka have?
He had 25 or something like that. I think he's going to try to go for 50. Yes, I know he's going to. I can smell a 50 ball. If he don't. The problem is this. Who's picking when a nigga guards him? That's what I don't like.
Yeah, but Yaxel guarded most of the game. Like, he's picking them up.
But that's what I said.
Oh, he was one for six. But I thought you was guarding them the whole time.
Yeah.
So there's only six possessions, or did you guard them the whole time and you don't want to claim?
Like, primary defender, yeah. What does that mean? There's switches, rotation, defense. Every time he was available to guard Luka, he stepped up to the challenge. Luka hit some bullshit, a half-bullshit half-quarter, only buggered his quarter.
So if I'm your man and I'm on a fast break and I make a layup, are you counting that? No, right? But I'm your man, you didn't pick me up in the fast break. So those are the things I ask about. If we're matching up and I get out of the fast break and make a layup, That's your.
Fault, right?
The defensive guy is not counting it. But everybody else is saying.
Your favorite player got locked up by a rookie.
To get a switch. Was it Carmelo? Nobody scored 30 on him. But, you know, Paul Pierce.
No, you're not counting that. But you have to get a switch. Like, you're looking for the switch.
What I'm saying is, because you got to remember, they're saying he's one for six.
Yeah. He was. I've seen it.
But he guarded him the whole time. So which plays are not being counted? If he's on them and I switch off and now I got a big. Right. So I'm looking for... So you're not counting that one. Now, if this is my guy and I switch on to you and I score on you, are you counting that one?
Like, which one are you.
What are the plays are you actually counting?
You're getting too technological. One for six. Primary defense. We're counting the ends of the ball. Locked up. Yes.
Yes. See you usually just before it's the end result.
I'm your man Only.
One on one about thinking one on one the points you score on me That's what I'm counting.
But are you but if you're if you're but if I'm your man and you're switching off of me.
Yeah, you're looking for a switch you doing the screen the pick and roll to get the switch like you're calling for it Okay, so how.
About the free throws do that count? If you foul me. Free throws don't count. You know that. Fouls are subjective. Fouls are subjective.
Not against him. Not against him. If you foul me, they count.
As a rookie, they're going to give Luka more calls. They're going to give Luka calls.
Is your favorite Laker going to guard Yaks? Is your favorite Laker guarding Yaks?
But at the end of the day, you're picking and choosing what plays you want to say you stop me in versus... Like we do if that's your man, and he had 25 he had 25 matchup Yeah, we're not gonna just wait and pick plays that you was on like we're in if I said if I got the rebound I'm in.
A fast break.
I mean I come No, no moving the ball goes tonight. It's called moving the goalposts for Luca tonight No, that's called six plays.
Like how do you have six plays you say let me help?
Yes What I'm saying is, how are you saying six plays? You stop me like you guard. Like, are you going to win one for six?
No, six. Like Jalen Brown. Right. Twelve plays. So you guarded you guarded Luca.
Twelve plays and locked him up in the in the whole thing.
And that's locking up.
For six games.
Five games. Yes. Come on.
Y'all got to do better with that.
Right.
They got to break it down better.
They got to break it down better.
You just can't pick the plays you want.
No, you can't pick the plays you want. Because if you.
Got me and I shot a three right here, you're going to be like, oh, I stopped you. But if I made that shot, you're not counting that shit.
What you mean?
If you're my man and I came down and shot a wide open three, you're in the transition.
And you're my man, though, but you're not near me.
And I shot it.
I would say, yeah, score when I'm on you. Yeah, you can't score when I'm not on you. As a defender.
Listen to what I'm saying.
If you score, you score wide open.
That don't count on me.
But if I miss it, they count it on you. They count it and say, that's a stop.
I've never seen that.
I'm talking about what would be actually Garnie Jelly. If I'm guarding you and you don't make the shot, yes, I'm saying that.
So you didn't guard me the whole time. So you're probably, what, the least that guarded me that night.
They got to do better with the stats.
It's just bad when they pick and point.
If you call it for a pick and roll.
But when I'm guarding, you try to score me and you don't, that means I'm shutting you down.
Jalen Brown locked up Luka too. It's okay. What was the plays, though? 154 possessions. Luka only had 21 points, 9 of 22 shooting, 2 for 8 from 3. Five turnovers. There's 120 possessions.
154.
154. 32 minutes of matchup time. Most matchup time logged by a Celtics player versus an opponent in any round of the postseason. It was 22 possessions.
Okay. Nine for 22. That's not, like, terrible.
I know. That's what that says.
It's not terrible, but he was a defensive stopper. It's like, wait, what are y'all looking at? You're picking and choosing what you want. Nine and 22. Is nine and 22 locked up for a series?
Are you trying to say that? Let me ask you.
Is nine and 22 locked up for a series to say this person.
Shut you down? Can you answer that? Just answer that.
If I guarded you. and you went nine for 22 for the whole series, and they're saying, I shut you the fuck down, and I'm going around saying, I locked you the fuck up.
Yeah, I don't know if I'm saying that.
Right?
That's not a locked up. Bring the ball up. I ripped you. Bring the ball up. If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change. Man.
I'm just saying, man. I just don't like the narrative. Give me the real stuff.
Give me what it looks like.
Don't try to make one person look better or one person look bad.
Just say it is. And then we'll see what it is. If they both guard each other, we'll get a good... You can't tell me Luka has 50 and he's ducking smoke defensively. He don't want to guard yaks. I don't know how... That's not a good matchup for me. That's not a good matchup. That's yours. You know that's going to happen. Okay, let me ask you this. We know what's going to happen. If I say....
I can shut Steph Curry down. And I'm locking that motherfucker up.
And he's one for six? No, I'm saying... And I locked him up, right?
Me scoring is irrelevant. Luka's not saying I'm shutting you down. You're saying you're shutting him down. You're saying I can stop you. You can't score on me. Luka's not saying the same thing. So this is not like, Bubba, you're supposed to be guarding him.
Let's see what you can do.
But if you call me pussies and all that, you're supposed to guard me too.
Yes, guard me. Yeah, don't run.
If it ain't about running, if Yaxo has 30 and Luka has 50, Yaxo didn't shut him down. If Yaxo has four points and Luka has 40, no.
One's going to say, oh, Yaxo didn't score. Let's keep doing that for the year.
But are you listening? No one's going to say Luka locked him up.
Nobody would never say that. That's not the argument, though.
Luka went to the media and said, I'm going to.
Lock him up. If he says I'm going to lock him up. Man, if you're talking trash, back guard him. He wouldn't say that because he's not going to guard him, Gil.
You know that.
If you're talking trash, back guard the man. You can't talk trash then run the whole opposite way on the court and guard somebody else.
You said you're stopping me. That's trash to me. That's weak. Then don't say nothing to me then. Don't tell the world you can't stop me, dog. You're talking trash to me, though. I'm saying you can't guard me. You saying you can.
But you're calling me out my name and calling me names and running.
Across the court. What type of person are you? Defensive thing. You saying you can guard me. I'm saying no, you can't. That's just a mano a mano thing. You can guard me. Why would I call you something and go the other way?
You're saying you can guard me. I'm saying you're not. You're not saying I can guard you.
But if I call you out your name, it's like saying you're a pussy and then I go over there.
A pussy because you can't score on you.
I'm calling out your name. Understand what we're arguing about. I'm calling you out your name. You're calling me a.
Pussy because you're saying I'm crying on offense.
I'm calling you out your name. On offense. I'm calling you out your name. On offense. They're going the other way. On offense. Like, you got to think about the argument. It's like somebody calling you.
A bitch and just turning around and walking from behind the glass or something.
The argument.
In a car.
On the argument.
It's sticking on argument.
Is Luka going to guard Yaxo tonight?
I don't give a fuck who he guards. I want to see if he scores 50. If he's going to try to score 50.
If he doesn't score 50.
If he scores 50 and Yaxo's guarding the whole time and Luka goes 15 for fucking 48, that nigga stopped him.
Yeah. That's all I want to hear. Luka's averaging 36 a game. If he's held under 36.
If he's held under 36 and.
He's 10 for 10.
If Luka doesn't shoot efficiently and doesn't get 50 and doesn't take the attempt.
If he has 36, but he's like literally, if he's 9 for 10. 30? What if Yaxel shut his ass down?
What if Yaxel goes for 30? I don't care. That's not the argument here. That is not the argument.
Yaxel might not guard him every possession, but if he guards him 80% of the time.
That's the difference there. If you're not guarding me every possession. That's not the argument. That's not the argument.
The argument is this guy said he's going to stop me, and that's what everybody's coming to see.
Him scoring is. Move the goal post. No, the goal post is.
Moving because you're adding Yaxel's offense into it now.
Yaxo can't have offense too?
Right?
It's just one way. That wasn't part of the argument.
Yeah, we're trying to make something out of this.
It wasn't one-on-one.
So why the fuck wasn't they talking on when Yaxo had the ball?
It's one-on-one. now.
Why wasn't they talking when Yaxo had the ball on offense?
No one cared. They didn't care then. It was the first game of the season. He was a rookie.
He's in a rookie of the year conversation.
What did he score that game? What did he score that game? First game. Can I ask you what did he score? First game. What did he score? He averaged 25. What did he score? 22 or 27. No, what did he score? It was the first game of the season.
No, no, no.
What did he score? First game of the season. What did he score? Luca? First game of the season. No, no. Yaxo. 12? No one cares. But he averaged 22 now. They cared. But no one cared. It's the first game. No one cared. They care now, though, dude. They cared.
Then that's called moving the fucking door in straight 25-point games.
How is the cup moving the goalpost? You talk about he just got to play defense. They don't care about his offense.
So if I score this on Luke tonight, nobody cares.
Okay, let me tell you what we're going to.
Okay, so if the game we played, if I had 25, you had 12. But we only combated each other on my offense, and that's what we was talking about. And then you went to the media to say I'm trash and I'm a bitch and I'm this. On the offensive side, I'm crying.
Hold on, I'm crying.
I'm crying to the Western. I mean, you don't respect that, right? You don't respect that part of the game, which means this has nothing to do with your offense. That's why your offense wasn't a part of it. That's why we never said anything about your offense. So coming into this game, will you bring his offense in because he's scoring now?
That is moving the goalposts. No, because he was a rookie. It's his first game. He's averaging 22 now. He's able to shoot everything, every shot he wants now. Thank you. I'm trying to.
Act like he can't score, like somebody can't score on Luka and won't look bad.
Luka can look bad. It's okay.
Again, my nigga, the argument is starting on this. You're moving the goalpost to make it now on offense.
It's okay.
That's what you're doing.
It's okay to move the goalpost. Oh, now you can move the goalpost. No, you're moving it. It's okay.
Danny?
Danny?
Danny, save me. Danny, save me. Help me, Danny. You're a defender. I'm not guarding you, Danny. And I scored. Did I mean I scored, though, in you?
Lucas' defense was never in this conversation.
We brought it in, Danny. So you're bringing it in. So that means you're moving. That's called moving the goal. Now, when you use now, nigga, that means it wasn't there before. Why is this game so big?
We can talk about it now.
Because Yasiel called him out. Said he's a bitch. He cried out. I'll bust your ass too. What that mean? That's not a part of it?
That's if you want it.
That's a good game. That's if you want it. That's not part of the narrative. I can lock you up. You say you can lock me up. What is this game called? What's this game called? Arc Raiders. Arc Raiders. Okay. Why you ask that? He called him a fat black N-word.
What?
The Buddha narrative? Yeah.
Motherfucker coming in and telling me he's coming to town.
He's coming to town to shut me down. He's coming to town to shut me down. God damn it, we don't see. Yeah, anybody saying go out of guard Kobe. It wasn't on there.
Yeah, all that shit people said.
Are you going to talk over me? Let me talk. I score 60 on Kobe. I talk over me, though. Come on, Danny, keep saving me. I score 60 on Kobe.
He said he was going to shut me down.
Oh, my God.
He didn't say, come guard me so you can shut. No, he said he's going to shut me down.
He did say that. You wasn't even there. Shut up. He said he was going to shut me down.
Okay, let's see.
That's it. That's it. God damn it, that's it. You might have said it in the game.
You scored 60 on me? God damn it, I got to show everybody that.
Was a fluke. That's all it is. He didn't score 60. Let's see if he's luker tonight or fluker tonight. But let's keep this thing moving. He didn't score 60 on him. Who didn't? Luka didn't score 60 on it. No, not yet. Tonight, we don't know.
So part of it to me is if he holds his attempts down too, if he's like six for 25, that's a great defense.
We can watch the game and say, okay, he's playing great defense.
You can see it.
No, you can't because you said Jalen Brown didn't play good defense and you watched that game.
He said he played good defense, but he said he locked them up. You said locked.
The narrative versus what happened in the game is very different.
No, it's not. Okay. That's very different.
Nine for 22, a couple of steals here and there. That's very different than the narrative.
Let's keep this movie something to reunite the couch. Who found out?
Okay.
We are the world. We are the children. All right. So last week we did our first annual Gills Arena fantasy draft with each member of our regular cast picking their fantasy team. For the season. So we've had a good sample size of games. Let's take a look at the leaderboard through the first week and a half. Yeah.
Look at it. Okay. Look at it. Okay.
Fuck Ron Winter.
All that shit they be talking like swag on no shit.
I mean. Moving the goalposts. One, bitch. How about that? Yeah, I do too much.
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah, your team's played the most game. No, they're not. No, they're not. They're not.
I think you should thank Josiah. Did Josiah draft that? Did you draft that?
Swaggy drafted it. Oh, he drafted it. I drafted my own, yeah. I did draft Baron Davis. I ain't got to say. I don't need nobody to save. Help me. No. Janani, a GM of your team. I removed a goal post, yeah. I apologize. I went by your selection. We in the middle. We in the pack, though. We in the pack. Ain't no pack. It's over. See, this is real. You have that.
And then there's a reality to it.
What's the reality, Gil? Come on, please. Who's your top player? Please tell me your reality.
You probably got the healthiest team right now.
That's what I'm saying.
So you got Jalen Johnson, six games, Cade, five games, Carl Anthony, five games, Evan.
Morgan, five games. You guys got to get technical.
Dyson Daniels, five games, right?
Everybody's played all the games.
Yes. I got four, four, four, four, four, five, five.
If you take the top five, then I think Baron Davis.
Will be one. Well, then I'm a champion either way. None of you Negro. Take the top five. If you take the top five, hold on.
If you take the top five, I'm going to be one too because Dyson Daniels got fucking everything.
Okay? I'm going to be one still.
All the hate and I'm great.
No, no, no. Keep counting. Get madder and madder. I'm trying to count it. Get madder and madder. I'm trying to see if you're winning. Duh. Number one.
So Steph Curry's out. Daylon Daniels goes in.
Yeah.
Tell me on one. Tell me on what? Oh, Barron. Good draft, man. You got some healthy guys. Yeah, you're in front of Barron. He goes on all season, though, right? Mm-hmm.
That could change in the next week or two.
Nah, my guys are, you know. Two, four. I pick when you know what you know, you know. Yeah, Danny moves up. To what, two? I mean, four?
Yeah, he got a 165 and a 166 coming off the bench.
850 points. There you go. But that's the starters. Okay, that's one.
No, you take OG and Jalen Duren leaves and then Bam and Michael Porter Jr.
Goes into the lineup. And that will move him to 900. He will still have 1,000.
900.
Okay, but that's what's in. 900.
He jumps up that high. You got 975. He'll still be four, like I said.
He's not four right now, nigga. No, you got 900. I said he would jump to four. Do your math. No matter. The math ain't math.
No matter what, you're not catching me.
Who ain't catching you? Yeah, you got six.
We got guys that got six fucking games.
Oh, man. How much you going to move the post? Don't get mad, bitch.
I won, Gil.
Just admit it.
You're winning.
I know you hate to see me win. You're winning. But I'm winning. You're winning. I'm going to share it with you. I'm going to share the money with you. You know that. I know you are. I know you are. You don't do this. There's still a lot of season left, man. It's both of ours. He's winning right now. He might not have won. Hey, man, fuck your team, man. You know?
You know? Like, hey, shit, it's all my fault. You know? Hey, you is winning right now. Hey. Man. Oh, DeMarcus got A. That's why he's down. No, I got you.
Hey, we got to trade, man. I don't even want Cooper. We are not trading.
What we are doing is moving on to mostly fans.
I don't want Cooper flag, man.
They're going to fall. I told y'all. Look out, man. We're going to be balling, baby. They're fucking up in the back. It's summertime, too. That'll be summertime. We got a few mostly fan questions before we get to celebrate our Halloween. Just want to thank everybody in the chat. Chat, if you have not done so already, make sure you hit that like button. Make sure you subscribe to Gil's Arena Show. We appreciate you. Let's heal the world, chat.
Let's heal the arena.
Heal the world.
Let's heal my face, Lord. If I can get back to looking sexy. We got a question from The Wizard Inn said, Should Atlanta go after Cat to upgrade at center or a true number one option? We have expiring contracts in C.J. Dort and Lawndale as well as Kispert and Dorian to trade. We're not letting Wiggins go, Danny.
Yeah, Wiggins is good, but I don't think Nick's going to want that for Cat.
Meow.
They're going to want, you said Dort? CJ, and who?
Jock Londo. Also Kispert.
And Kispert.
I mean, I think a lot of people should go after Cat, but if you're not trying to give up some real pieces, you ain't going to get them.
I don't know if Atlanta has.
They're going to have to get what? Pieces. Jalen Johnson. Shout out Doreen Finney-Smith. They can't even afford. Yeah.
They can't even afford that because he's going to be maxing out soon, too. Who?
Tom Johnson. Yeah.
But if you get C.J. O'Connell, like all those guys off, the contracts match.
Oh, you mean in Atlanta? Yeah. Hey, man. Nobody want to go to Atlanta. Atlanta don't want to go to Atlanta. Listen. They should go for it. Everybody ain't innocent.
Everybody ain't as black as they used to be. Like the strip cubs and the peace jam, that shit ain't popping no more, man. Magic City wasn't a thing in my era, man. These things, they playing video games, man. They sitting in the home. They don't want.
Y'all high-ass prices. They not coming to the club buying bottles no more.
Y'all done ran these boys dumb. We done paid enough child support for everybody. They cool.
But if they can't get Cat, it'll make.
Hey, look at this team right here.
I'm going to say contenders, but they'll be in the playoffs.
Is anybody black-black on the team?
You got a bunch of just.
Which one?
Atlanta or... Yeah, Atlanta right now. People were close. Nah, family man. Just happy to be there.
They had the French guy. This ain't... Listen, this is not like the Atlanta in like 2009. This ain't the Josh Smith Atlanta.
No, no, no. You guys are being ignorant. Nah, I'm just being honest. I'm just being honest. Ignorant is reality. All right. We got a comment from DeliveryGuy91. Said, now we're complaining about Gobert not scoring. Parentheses, who has never scored, but not Melo's eight points and six turnovers and five fouls. Fair.
Gobert should have been yelling at him.
Fair point.
I mean, 0 for 13 is still like, you know, and they lost in overtime by one or two, a couple points.
Melo, yes.
Melo needs to be more aggressive. He probably needs to score more with Ant being out. So does everybody else in company. Again, it's a collective. It's not just one person, but Rudy's usually always the scapegoat because of not just offense, but some defensive assignments.
I'm sure it was a defensive thing, probably.
Yeah, okay, but being over 13 under the rim, that's a whole other problem. Like, can you just imagine what that possibly looked like when he's going up for layups and missing them?
Yeah.
Right?
We're talking about a big man. Today, if they shot 50% under the rim, that's horrible.
Yeah.
So being 0-13 under the rim.
That's bad.
I see why he shot them threes. Like, shit, I got to get it up.
I got to make some.
I got to make some. Yes, Melo needs to be better. But Rudy averages double digits usually, right?
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying? Give you at least 10 to 12. That changes. Like, if you at least give him 6 to 8.
Hmm.
You know, I might change that.
Make a layup.
It's two layups in that game.
Yeah. It'll be fine, man. They'll figure it out.
Yeah.
All right. We have one last comment from Ty God Game. It's Swaggy supposed to be toothpick from Don't Be a Menace. Told you. I don't know who I am, cuz. Part Debo.
Part Debo.
Part Debo. Call me cuz. Blue face. He blue face.
She's got the slippers with the hair.
I was going to be Rock.
I was going to be Rock and have my whole tooth missing.
You're weird. You're weird. I wear these. I wear these with the technology. I just wear these. I was going to be Snoop from Baby Boy. This Jody....
Little nigga ain't trying to be his daddy anyway.
Built you a little fort while you guys were out. Give a fuck about that little fort. That was Mostly Fans. Appreciate y'all. All the fans out there, shout out to everybody in the chat. Make sure you have a safe, productive Halloween. Get some candy, feel dandy. Carve some pumpkins and whatnot. You got any final words before we take off for the weekend and you're ready to turn up? Yeah.
For the Halloween shit? You try to get it. Wait, no, no, no.
Tomorrow I got to cut the lights off. But don't try to save face for Luka.
You cut the lights off. Leave the candy. Monday is going to be a sad day for you.
But what if Luka has 50 and Yaxo has like 15?
Then it's going to be a sad day for me. I'm down for it. It all depends on how we look.
All I'm saying is he's going for 50, but if he scores 50, but he missed 30 shots, that nigga played defense.
You know what I mean?
If he scored 20, but he was 10 for 10, he didn't get it done.
But even with Acuff, I can't say you stopping him.
Even though, you know what I mean? Like, we can't say.
If he was, like, five for 25.
Like, we're not saying he's getting stopped.
We're just, like, okay, he hasn't figured out the speed for his game.
He had a bad night.
Yeah, but his shots is open. Every day, that's what I'm going to be singing.
Every day a star is born.
Clap for them. Clap for them. Reeves ain't playing today. Woo! They don't want Reeves today. They might lose then. Papate limon. Brother, see, that's the problem, brother.
Every day ain't about winning the game.
You say you caught me, bitch. You say you stopped me. You think I get fucked by this W? You don't have something to say. You care about this W, brother?
You don't have something to hold over his head.
When I dropped that 37, do you think I know the score?
They're going to win the game.
I don't care about the game.
It's different when you drop 60 and 1. I don't care about the game. You know what I tell Coach? We won? Yeah, that's true. But one day, is it going to be trash talk?
They're going to win the game.
But I don't need to talk trash on a Monday.
I know what he's trying to do today. On that note, we will find out tonight what happens and be able to discuss it. I know, I know. Monday here in the arena. Appreciate everybody for pulling up. Shout out to everybody in the chat. Shout out to everybody on this couch. Shout out to our amazing crew behind the scenes getting it done. This has been a special Halloween edition of Gil's Arena presented by Poly Market and powered by Playmaker. Whoa, whoa!
See y'all next week!
