Just like how Aang was frozen in an iceberg for 100 years, Katie and Jordan went into the Avatar State and froze the podcast for nearly six! They're back, a little delirious, and also need to master three more elements by Summer's End.
The podcast is shifting focus to the newest series from Avatar Studios with Avatar: Seven Havens! Katie loves a twin story and Jordan admits twins stress him out, but is curious if this season will feature any "The Parent Trap" situations for our new twin protagonists Pavi and Nisha.
Katie admits she had no idea what Avatar: Seven Havens even was and Jordan admits he read some of the leaks on Reddit.
This new series has "Dune" vibes, a guy named Jae, and our first ever Cat-Monkeys! Join Katie and Jordan as they untangle a pair of trailers and prepare for the premiere of Avatar: Seven Havens!

You know, I've always said this show is like prestige television.
You've definitely always said that.
Oh, yeah, since the first episode. You know, you can take six years off between seasons and you can still have a hot product. I think it's pretty hot. Oh, thanks. So, Yip Yipporay, an Avatar Podcast. We're back. And this episode we are previewing Avatar Seven Havens, the new series in Avatar The Last Airbender, with an official Nickelodeon-recognized Avatar Superfan.
Not me. It's that guy. This is an audio medium. It's me. So I'm Jordan. I'm Katie. Welcome. And this series, it's got it all. It's got twins.
It's got twin cat monkeys. It's got a guy named Jay, and maybe Jay's dad. I'm gonna go back to the cat monkeys. I guess we don't actually know they're twins. They could just be like the same thing.
Kind of like your eyebrows. Like they're not twins or sisters.
Not your eyebrows specifically, but maybe your eyebrows are twins and not sisters.
Dude, I don't even think my twins are related.
unknown What?
So buckle up your cat monkey, twin or not, for this new wild whirlwind season of Yipia Prae, an Avatar podcast. We're relaunching.
We're bringing it back. We're blasting off. We're airbending off. Hmm.
Saddle up your cat monkey and buckle up for a wild month that we're about to go on with Yippy Pare.
An Avatar Podcast.
I'm your co-host, Jordan. And I'm Katie. What's your what's your credentials? What do you got going on?
I am an Avatar adjacent fan.
I am An adjacent fan.
I am uh co-hosting with an Avatar superfan.
A legally ordained. I uh Nickelodeon recognized me as being a super fan. They hired me for two different gigs during the depths of COVID when I think they were desperate for content.
And they ordained you as a super fan.
They did. They gave me like a little oil, you know, kind of like in Bato of the Water Tribe, when Bato puts the like, I don't know, like Ash Wednesday markings on their face. He's like, sucker, you get mark of water bear. And Mark Waterbear, if you reflect on this series, was a tardigrade. That's not anyway.
So yeah, I am an Avatar super fan. I love Avatar The Last Airbender. I have watched it, I'm gonna say too many times. I don't think you can watch it too many. Okay, I've watched it many times over the course of 20 years. Dang. And I did not allow you to watch it when we were dating because my worry was you would see the cracks in my deep, deep, nerdy soul, and you would rethink all of your decisions.
And so I waited until we were married to introduce you to the series. That's my favorite show of all time.
What does that say about me? What does that say about you and what you thought about me?
And what I thought about this show that is clearly very important to me.
So Okay, so once upon a time, what feels like a long time ago.
In a galaxy far, far away.
You and I had this idea to start an Avatar podcast, and this is before it was readily available. And so our first episode, we're like telling people they can go rent it at the library.
I wonder if anybody took us up on that. Hopefully. It was before the resurgence of Avatar. I think we were we caught it, I'm gonna say at its lowest. Like it had kind of it kind of died, I don't know, evaporated from public discourse. So we are not, we're not riding the wave in any correct way at all.
No. During like its resurgence, we were silent. We didn't say anything. Zero pup kiss. And now that we're like, oh, so uh we have an animated movie, at least one series. Um let's start it a couple days before it comes out.
You know what? We're ready to come back, do it again. But it's it's different. So when we started, our plan was to because you had introduced it to me after we got married. I I liked it.
You liked it, didn't love it. I uh I think you were over I think it was you hadn't really experienced serialized television, especially wrapped in the beautiful little markings of an animated series.
No, I hadn't. And so it surprised me in like all the best ways. And we've watched it several times after. And so with this podcast, we initially had a third person that and a fourth person, we always kind of had a third or a fourth, you know, to balance out whatever this is.
Whatever this is.
But this season, sorry, it's probably just gonna be us.
We're going solo. Everyone's like an adult and having babies and working too many jobs. I think that's but not me.
Not us, okay.
So this season, we are skipping the legend of Korra, which again is so rude. I'm not proud of that.
I'm not happy about this.
It's a lot of Cora erasure. Again, like she deserves her time. I'm gonna say we're coming back to that.
We will. We'll just leapfrog it. We're like, we'll go for You know what? We've already said that we're not doing it maybe right. We're not perfect, you know.
Okay. I've I'm looking for my honor.
We're just wow. I'm not even gonna say it.
What are we gonna say? I was gonna say honored, but I was gonna like So after I say I'm looking for my honor, your response was what I'm gonna say. Honor. Okay, honor from Ember Island Players, where Dante Bosco's brother is reading as Zuko and goes, honor when he dies in the flame.
Exactly that.
So, friends, we have been without an Avatar series since almost, I mean, over a decade. Like we are, it's been bone dry. And here we are in a matter of hours. The next the third series in the Avatar series is coming out. We got Avatar, colon, seven havens.
How are you feeling about that? After I feel like you've waited so long. Because you were a teenager, right? When this first came out.
I was 14 years old when Avatar The Last Airbender came out, and I'm 21 now.
Yeah. So I can't do that math.
I am I have mixed feelings, and I hate saying that. I think when The Legend of Korra was announced, I was over the moon. I was so ecstatic. I couldn't have been more excited. I had the first piece of concept art that they released as the background on my iPad. That was a good one. I remember I won that i didn't buy an iPad in college.
I won an iPad. That's pretty good.
Uh, I remember coming over and hanging out with you as a friend for the first time.
Like, who's this muscular chick on your background?
Right. I do remember that. Anyway.
Oh, so Jordan's into anime.
Also, also, it's nice to see you. Uh he has brought out his air nomad shirt for it's smelling pretty musty.
I'm sure it is. Why? Yeah, because it's been just a drought. Okay. Seven Havens. I am cautiously optimistic. I believe in what Mike and Brian, I believe in their intentions, the creators, Mike and Brian. I believe in what they want to do. I don't know. The first trailer of Seven Havens, we've just re-watched them.
The first trailer, I got I got the butterflies. I was feeling it. And then we watched the second trailer, and I feel like it all went away.
Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. I don't feel that way. Wow. I am feeling really excited about it. I uh I got the feels both trailers. Dang. Yeah. And I guess what came up for me is because you were telling me background of people that were involved with the original series, and maybe it wasn't just Mike and Brian who were spearheading a lot of this.
And so the other person that was involved is not involved, to our knowledge.
Juan hasn't been involved in a long time. I don't think he was involved with Korra at all.
And so I just I think I was sitting there watching it being like excited for the Avatar studios that are, you know, that was created, and I feel like the intention is there. And so I feel like they're gonna do it. Granted, we have watched the other things that have come out, and that hasn't set my soul on fire as much as those little trailers did.
Oh, your your soul was set on fire from so yeah, it was like it was kind of like it's waking up, it's feeling dang.
I know like ooh, a new show to watch. We haven't had a new show in a long time.
You know, whatever the line is about the world, you know, the world needs the line is, Katie, humanity's not ready for the Avatar's return.
And yet, it's the one thing this world needs the most.
I know. It made me all teary-eyed. I felt like, yeah, it's true. And I feel like you and I need it. I think we have been in a dry spell. This is probably the longest you've ever gone without watching it.
That's true. Which is probably indicative of like my feelings right now. So maybe it's yeah, this is good. Yeah, it's time. So it goes into this interesting thing, that that line about the world not being ready for the avatar. And it it's a it's an interesting contrast with Korra because it seemed like the way that world was presented, like the world had moved away from the need of an avatar.
And I think a lot of The Legend of Korra was Korra trying to prove that she deserves to exist and deserves to be seen, which is an interesting contrast. Like, and if you go all the way back to Avatar The Last Airbender, like that world needed Aang, and only a few people who interacted with Aang were kind of like sassy about him.
It only happened a few times, so we're definitely skated around it a little bit. And so I'm curious if the creators are going back to that initial intent of like what happens when you know who we perceive to be the savior of the world is gone for an extended amount of time, and like what what feelings and kind of I don't know, anger and resentment kind of builds in that way.
Okay, so when you said that we when you pitched us doing the show, and it was like, oh, seven havens, and like this did not ring a bell to me at all.
I don't remember you'd forgotten about the show entirely?
Entirely. I just totally forgot. And and so yeah, I really have no idea what it's about, but obviously we just watched the trailers, and so now I have some sort of idea.
What's it about in your mind right now?
Well, I guess in my mind, it's about we have sisters slash. I'm like, are we twins? I was getting twin vibes.
I think that twin is you know she has a line that says, Why do you look like me? I mean, I've seen I've seen siblings that look a little too similar. Well, I I love twin movies. It's like, yeah, twin power. Can you name some twin movies that you really enjoy?
Uh okay. I don't like that Twitches was the first one that came up. I don't like that either. I don't think that that was really what I was thinking.
It is October.
You know Sisters. Like Witch Mountain.
Oh, Escape from Which Mountain?
Uh you know.
You're really burying the lead on which one I thought you were gonna do. What, Parent Trap?
Yeah, of course Parent Trap. Yeah, but Parent Trap, Lindsay Lindsay and Haley and Lindsay and Haley.
Can you imagine if they had done a version of the Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan and Haley Mills?
And it was just two like we're twins. I think there's oh, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. I'm trying to think of other twin stuff. Yeah.
I mean power you know, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, those are twins. Fraternal.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know if I'm really into like twin boy movies though, or like shows. Yeah. Like Sweet Life of Zack and Cody. No, they didn't really do it for me.
Well, I mean, those boys, they got their start doing uh Big Daddy with Adam Sandler, so that's a that's a fun fact for you. I think twin boys, yeah, twin boy stories, like they never really don't really hit the same. I'll see.
And so uh lucky for us, this show I think is gonna be Twin Sisters.
Oh, you think so? So going back to Parent Trap, is there gonna be a parent trap situation? Like, clearly it seems like if these two characters, Pavi and Nisha, are indeed there's a gnat flying around my face. So it's trying to get into my mouth.
Okay, since we have last recorded, our house has become a jungle. We have so many plants in here.
And a bangle tiger.
Okay. Yeah, I do think it's gonna be a parent trap type situation.
We just go from the gnat in the jungle and go right into the parent trap situation. So you think they've been separated? They clearly don't, uh one is not British, and one is, you know, I don't think we're we didn't do that thing, where maybe the parents. It definitely seemed like one of them, maybe Pavi, was taken away.
Because we definitely get one is rich, one is poor.
That's the vibe.
Oh, is that the vibe? Oh, that's the vibe called. Oh, I didn't really think about that. Okay. Tell me more. Is because she's in rags and has one leg?
Yeah, I mean, I don't know. There's I think that they are from different side of the tracks.
Okay.
They've had different lived realities. Uh, what's up with the guy?
Which one? Which guy? There's several guys.
The son of somebody who's like I was taught to like hate the Avatar or whatever.
Son of somebody? Jay? You're talking about Jay, the airbender?
Was his name Jay?
I mean, I missed the Jay, but like J-A-E is how it's spelled. Jay. Jay Jay in Avatar Seven Havens, he seems alright. He seems like maybe bumbling. My vibe is my vibe in the first trailer was maybe he had his stuff together. In this one, I feel like he's probably like the Sokka Bolin character.
Right. Yeah. Because I was like, oh, it was like Zuko vibes, but then yeah, Saka vibe. Yeah. Everybody loves hot Jay. Am I a hot Jay? You're a hot Jay.
Oh my gosh. Thanks. This is why I couldn't let you watch Avatar when we first got together. I was like, she's gotta keep up, we gotta keep up the illusion. Okay, so Jay's seems like Airbender Boy, seems like gonna be a friend. If you watch the trailer. But what was he writing on? Like hoverboard?
Yeah, like a hover like a hover air scooter.
Okay.
Okay, I don't know about you, but I definitely got like Dune vibes. It's like desolate, like she was like all covered, and we have, I don't know, call to prayer happening. And like, uh, it's like you mean I know what you mean. Yeah. Dune.
You know, we all love a sci-fi fantasy series set in a barren post-apocalyptic wasteland. You got Dune, you got Tatooine from Star Wars, you've got now Avatar Seven Havens, you have Mad Max, you have Mad Max Road War, you have Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, you have uh Mad Max Fury Road.
But man, Thunderdome by Tina Turner. I love that song. I've never watched Mad Max, but I love that song.
I don't know. So the city that we are taking place in initially, because I don't know what's gonna happen with this show, it is in the city of Alora. Alora.
Alora. Alora.
What does Alora make you think of?
Uh, Master of None.
Yep, me too. Because it's me too. It's Italian for, is it beautiful, or was it like like a nonsense word, like, oh, that's okay, like that's cool. Italians, drop a comment.
Yeah, what does it mean?
What's Alora mean? Because we didn't do all of the info. Oh my god. The thing about this city is it takes its name from an actual, like, they're not even like taking inspiration. They're taking the name also from a real-world place. They're taking it from the Alora Caves, which is an ancient complex with monasteries and temples, like built into like caves and cliffsides in Maharashtra, India, which, hey, if you're from India, drop a line in the comments about how to pronounce that, because I didn't do it right.
So they're just calling it, they're calling it Alora, and is they're calling it their that too. It's like if we renamed the northern water tribe Anchorage.
You know what? It's uh just just accept. Maybe somebody was like, Yeah, you can base it off here, but you can't change the name.
Yeah, but that's not really how like parody and art works. I know. Seven havens. We got seven havens. Alora, I'm assuming, is one of the seven havens. What this premise is, is that there has been a cataclysm in the world, and it has been, I don't know, I think we're twenty two hundred and twenty-five years is the the time frame.
I don't know if it's after the end of the legend of Korra. I don't know. I think we're 225 years in the future. Whoa. From Korra.
That seems like a long time.
So there has been a cataclysm, and then now we have seven havens where I don't know, society or humanity can exist.
Okay.
So again, the 225 years is crazy. I was like thinking about you know how far away removed we are from Korra and Aang and just all those stories. So 225 years, if we take that same amount of time and subtract it from our history, here in the United States of America, you get 2026, you take 225 away, you're in the year, guess the year.
1801. Oh one.
You did it. Tell me one thing in this country's history you think happened in 1801.
Uh, the natives were here.
They're still here. They didn't go. We didn't put them on a ship.
You said just something that was here.
Okay, how about an event of something that was going on besides the natives being here? How about you tell me? Well, well, thanks for asking. 1801 was the year Thomas Jefferson was elected. Wow.
So we I was not gonna guess that.
So the distance in time from Thomas Jefferson being elected and destroying Aaron Burr um to today, here in October 2026, that is the difference in time from when Korra's like fighting the giant platinum robot in the finale of The Legend of Korra, which God, that's a terrible. That's a bad finale. Platinum robot?
Yeah. We'll see if you would let me rewatch it. I want to, because Nickelodeon, they did Korra dirty. They bungled it. We got a like a recap show, like it was a 90s sitcom when we should have had we could have had an Ember Island player, something even better. It's just they did her dirty from top to bottom.
I'm sorry. And this is why Jordan has refused to do I just, you know, I feel bad about it.
And, you know, we do, I do have a piece of uh Cora's voice actress, Janet Varney. A piece of her is in this house. Which what a weird, weird thing to say. I have a lock of her hair.
Oh god, you still have it? Well, yeah, I wasn't gonna take the hair out. Oh my god. Janet, we know you're listening.
So yeah, Janet, I still got one, or it could, I mean, it could be her assistant.
I was like, it's probably not Janet.
Well, that's true. It was in the I guess it could have been from wherever she got it. It might not be Janet Varney's hair.
Hmm. We're having an epiphany.
I'm gonna maintain that it's Janet Varney's hair. And how I got this hair was one of the two Avatar Superfan things I was able to do was I was a part of the Braving the Elements podcast. Shout out, Wap Wap, Wamp, Braving the Elements. Uh they had me on there along with a couple other Avatar Superfans, and we uh it was like a quiz show, and I did very well until the Secret Tunnel part came up, and I really, really, really, really wanted to watch it.
I told you we're gonna try it.
I know, Jordan said it like it was late. I was tired. I thought we were going to bed, and he was like, Oh, I feel like I should watch this.
Talk about my intuition.
I know, and you should have listened to it.
So I did it, I came in second place, but I tore up the things that I did know I knew very well. But then Janet Varney did send something nice, and so I then did have her P.O. box or you know, her maybe address. I don't know. We never followed up on it. But that it came and it had a piece of her hair on it.
It was a little keychain.
Oh yeah.
And that's how I got Janet Varney's hair.
Wow. I think we should move on.
Do you think they're gonna recast Janet Varney as Korra? No, you don't think so?
No.
I mean, they very boldly recast everybody else for the Avatar Aang, the last Airbender movie.
Well, maybe they will. I don't know. I know. I just feel like it's it's a wild card. We just don't know. Anything could happen.
There was a sound effect that Korra made, and I think the second trailer, and the you know, the agonized cry that we get so used to hearing Korra do. It sounded like Janet Varney. Right.
But you know, like the difference is, you know, with the original Avatar, all those so they were all kids, and like Korra was more of like an adult.
Korra's like the same age as Zuko.
Not an adult, but like she she a big girl. Wow.
How much Korra do you think we're gonna see in this show?
I'm hoping a lot. Do you because maybe they want, because of what you said, that they like did her dirty, blah blah blah. Like maybe they they want to incorporate her more.
You don't think they're just gonna keep doing her dirtier?
I don't know. I'm not into this phrase.
Do her dirty. Do you know dirty? Do her dirty. Well, I didn't okay. So with Korra, in the context of this new series, I think Korra's getting a hundred percent of the blame for what's going on.
I know.
Do we think what what do you think's gonna happen?
I hope I hope just justice for Korra and understanding. I don't know. I I think I think it's gonna be an interesting story. And I think I'm looking forward to seeing what they have created. And yeah, I think it's gonna be really good.
I think that was too like the difference between how they're promoting this series versus Korra is that they are intentionally making this a very mysterious show. You're like, what happened?
It's very intriguing.
Ooh, mysterious. I think Korra, I believe Korra is going to be actually responsible. And I think a lot of people are probably like, oh, but she was probably doing something good. And I don't know if it's gonna be like one of those like something bad versus something really bad, and Korra went with just something bad versus really bad.
I mean, I think Korra's gonna get some redemption for the blame, but you're at the I I think at the end, you're gonna be like, well, I mean, Korra did it. I mean, I think that's gonna be what happens. I mean, because we all know how Korra does. She's brash, she just kind of does first and thinks later.
Korra is a go-getter.
Is Korra you said okay, I think Korra is an Aries?
Kora's Korra is definitely an Aries. Out of all the 12 Zodiac, or 13, if you believe that, out of all the Zodiac signs, that girl's an Aries. She's just plus, she's fiery. I mean, she loves firebending.
Well, that's true.
Okay, back to Seven Haven. So when the world, the cataclysm happened, it seems like something's going on where like the spirit world and the material world are like merging even more. Because obviously that was a big plot point in The Legend of Korra.
Right. Well, there's like, what was it, like red? There's like, I don't know.
You're talking about Vatu, the villain from Legend of Korra book two, spirits.
But what I'm talking about is the Seven Havens trailer. I'm like, what was that?
You know, from in the ground, like when we're in the temple at the end, and it's like and the squares come out of the ground. Right. That's Vatu. I mean, I can't say that definitively, but it looked like it sounds like he can. It just that was Vatu. You heard it here first.
Avatar Super fan.
Oh yeah.
He knows.
Okay, here's my thing with Vatu. Vatu sucks. I mean Because he's like looks like a kite. Well, he and Rava both kind of look like kites.
Yeah, it's not my favorite design.
I loved the that two-parter though, when you find out about Avatar One. Yeah. Because when Vatu does show up, I just think everything with Book Two Spirits is complicated for me. You know, when they turn into like kaiju, they're just like giant monsters fighting in the water. I don't know. I feel like we jumped the shark in Book Two Spirits, you know, Unalok fuses with Vatu and turns into a monster.
Excuse me, we're talking about Vatu.
So Vatu, it seemed like in the end in Book Two Spirits, Vatu, I don't know, is vanquished or destroyed, but because he is like an agent of chaos in the world, or in the, you know, the spirit world, it seems like there would always be like a path for him to come back because he would exist within Rava, I would imagine.
Right.
And so I don't know, is there gonna be it would be kind of weird if like that is something that comes back to haunt Korra in her lifetime? And so is she holding Vatu back?
Also, like right, Korra is obviously long gone, but like, are we just gonna like have her spirit floating around? We're just gonna do Korra flashbacks, you think?
I don't know, because there's a couple things, because clearly the established canon of Avatar is once an Avatar dies, I mean, Rava is reborn, or however that works, into the next person in the cycle. But we don't know with this like spirit world, real world, like shenanigans going on. Like that could screw something up somehow.
So I mean, is there a possibility for Korra to still be like alive in some way? Maybe.
Gotta watch to find out.
So yeah, stay tuned, everybody. So yeah, with Korra, there is precedent in the Avatar world. I think by accident, of like long-lived avatars, like Kiyoshi apparently lived like hundreds of years. I think that was just them, that was poor writing. I think they're like, oh, oops. You know, you say, like, oh, this was like hundreds of years ago, and you're like, oh, that was wouldn't have been that long ago.
Right.
So, I mean, there could be this thing where Korra, like, I don't know, with the spirit world stuff, like she was like suspended in animation like Aang was for like hundreds of years. Because obviously, Aang being suspended in animation, he was still alive, so the avatar cycle didn't continue. Right. So either that happened or Korra's long lived, or some other mysterious thing.
Because there's there's been a lot of material about this about how there's like mysterious things with the avatar cycle with Pavi and her twin sister.
So I don't know, is are there has there ever been a twin o twin avatars?
They have they've not been twin avatars, to my knowledge.
Not yet.
Not yet. But see, that that could also be something is there's theories like is one a dark avatar, like one has like the spirit of Vatu in them, and one has Rava in them.
Oh my god, anything's possible.
Well, because that's the thing that happens in the end, is like Unalok is merged with Vatu, kind of like how Juan merged with Rava. And so you would think, like, after he's dead, like maybe something comes back. Which that could be the theory, like maybe Unalok Vatu was reborn immediately into I don't know, after into an earth bender or something, because they could do some sort of cycle with that, and then maybe that person, once they come of age, like tries to take down Korra.
That could be something.
Wouldn't that be interesting? It would be really interesting.
Wow. Or does Nisha and Pavi, do they split the Avatar spirit and like Pavi has two elements and Nisha has two elements? I don't know. Looks like they're both earth bending. What could happen? It's a mystery box. Alright, so where does that leave us? It leaves us with let's talk about Pavi's character design.
Clearly, she's kind of raggedy. She has been through something, only has one leg, has like a prosthetic, which I think maybe she was born that way. Maybe. I think it's an interesting character design. I like Pavi's character design a whole lot.
Yeah, I think she's gonna be a really interesting character. I'm excited. I think it's gonna be really good. Can I just keep saying that?
Yeah, gonna be real good.
I think it's gonna be really good.
So Seven Havens, there was a leak a couple years ago that I saw on Reddit that a couple years ago? Yeah.
Dang.
Someone had discussed like some leak that they saw storyboards and a premise and some other stuff. And so it did, I mean, it talked exactly about this. It was like a younger female Earth Avatar. Ooh, surprise, Earth Avatar. Whoa. And that you know, she would have one leg, she would have be joined by like an air, an air friend, and that she was gonna be a twin.
And so, and then it was called Seven Havens. So I remember reading about all of this, and I don't like participating in leaks, leak culture.
Spoilers.
Yeah.
But it was very fan!
Watch Brave of the Elements. But yeah, I remember reading that and thinking it was really interesting. I I don't like twin stories. I think it's overdone.
Twin stories, you know, and then the When's the last time there was a twin story? The parent trap. That was a million years ago.
There's also in like fiction, I think also what's coming up is in the Star Wars Expanded Universe books. There was a lot of like, you know, Han and Leia had twins and one was good and one was evil, and twins, one's good, one's bad. I think there's just a lot of that with twins, and I don't know about it.
Well, these twins are gonna be both good. You think so?
Yep.
I think one, I don't know. I believe in Mike and Brian as storytellers, but there's a lot of like cliches in here that I'm I'm thinking that there could be pitfalls that they're gonna fall into story-wise.
Not me. Twin power.
So I heard about Seven Havens and then was very excited. The first key art came out. There was some discourse about the art style of the show. I initially really liked the art style. After watching the second trailer, I've soured a little bit on not the art style, but the animation quality. It was there was something a couple characters did.
It was Jay and like the older hot dad that was like talking to him.
I think it's Jay's dad. I don't think it's Jay's dad.
I think he's like Captain of the Guard. Okay. So there was something that was going on where like from the Cupid's bow of the mouth up to the face, like nothing was moving. It was just mouth was moving for a couple characters, and it just seemed really weak to me. Like kind of flash animation. And so I'm really bummed that about the animation direction.
I don't know. Because we're so used. We we were spoiled with Studio Mirror, Mirror, Mirror, Mirror, with Legend of Korra, who did most of the episodes. Because that's a beautiful series. We were spoiled with the JM animation episodes of Aftar Last Airbender, DR movie, blows. Like there's those are some of the ugliest.
Maybe they're back.
They were like, you know what? We're taking over.
They're like, hey, Jordan, Jay, we heard.
Jay. Jay's back. Is Jay on the show? So here's one of the things is that we've moved on from South Korean animation companies, and now we are doing a French company that I think is doing the majority of the animation. And we're also doing a Vietnamese animation house. And so the French one is called La Chute Compagnie.
Hmm.
Uh, and then the Vietnamese one is called Armada TMT Studio. So it sounds like those two are gonna be doing double duty on it. I don't know. It's interesting that we're doing like we're moving away from from these other studios. And obviously, maybe they just had like other commitments.
Yeah, I mean, and maybe just like animation's so popular, like I don't know.
Don't you feel like we're well, it is super popular, but also these big major distribution studios and production studios, if they're not investing in it right now. And with like the rise of AI, I think everyone's like, well, there's no value in actual like human-made art. So, I don't know.
And that's not true.
But I will go back with the I do like the art direction. I think even though we're setting this Allora world, not to be confused with the Alora case or the Italian word, I think they've done a good job of matching and juxtapositioning. Juxtaposing? Juxtaposing this kind of orange-brown wasteland with like pops of color.
And so it does seem like even though we're in a cataclysmic post-apocalyptic world, it does have like a nice vibe.
Yeah, I feel like there was a nice vibe. Definitely like colors going on.
unknown Colours.
Alora Okay, with the colors and with these other characters. So we our other cast, so we have Pavi, we have Nisha, and I'm not sure how much do you think Nisha's are like deuterognous? Like, is she like the other protagonist with like are the twins gonna be the the two central characters?
I kind of feel like it's gonna be Jay.
You think Jay's gonna be the main one? I don't know.
I think it's gonna be all three of them. Okay, we love a trio.
We do love a trio. I just think it's weak if it's two twins. You know, this is why I'm not friends with twins.
You know what? Just let it go.
It's like be unique.
This is wow. Get some different DNA.
Okay, but then we have their animal companions, which did you notice anything about their animal friend?
I was like, what animal friend? You mean like the cat thing?
Uh they're cat monkeys. And they have names and they have names, Katie. Yeah, if you watch the trailer as closely as I did. Clearly, I missed it. So we have two. Uh Pavi has Geet, and Nisha has Ruhi. And they're also like color palette swaps. And so Nisha seemed like she had darker clothes on. She has the darker cat monkey, and then Pavi has the lighter cat monkey.
Both voiced by Dee Bradley Baker. Wow. That's my D. Bradley Baker impression.
I mean that was pretty good. Dee, what do you think? Because you're obviously listening. Hey, D. Bradley Baker. Wow.
Okay, the cat monkeys, I think, were leaning way too heavy into cat. There was a lot of meows going on. Did not love the amount of meows coming from Geet and Ruhe in the trailers.
I'm disturbed that I completely miss this. Yeah, yeah.
I mean, they were like large. I mean, they're massive, so I would imagine it would have been more like, you know, like the Bengal tiger that's in our house. Like those types of sounds. For sure. Subtle.
Like that's my mom.
You got it. How am I doing? Um, I'm still waiting for another job. Can you hire me for season two? Okay. Other things about After Seven Events. Book one, which is coming out October 9th, which is probably Thursday night, but it technically it's Friday. Friday, October 9th, 2026. Fry yes. And we're ready.
Get a pack of Fry Yes. Anyway, so it's called Survival, is the name of book one. What comes up for you when you hear survival?
Uh is uh our main girl surviving.
Great.
Surviving these streets. Again, with the Dune like opener, it's rough.
She's and Dune stuff. Like, did you uh notice that the they had uh Sky Bison wearing like air respirators?
No. Nope, missed it again. Hey, I'm ready for Friday. I'm gonna be, I'm gonna notice so many things.
On Friday. Yeah.
So You've probably watched the trailer more than me. You've been secretly watching the trailer.
Every time you leave this house, I fired up. And I think, hmm, I wish this animation was a little better. So yeah, then the first three episodes we got going on is uh chapter one, episode one, is gonna be called, going to be, is called On the Horizon, Episode 2, Into the Storm. Episode 3, The Order.
Hmm.
And there was a moment about in the second trailer talking about the Order of the White Lotus.
So bring it back.
Bring it back. And Jay was like, oh, it's a freaky underground cult. I was like, yeah. I don't know. I think I'm I'm happy with the boldness of taking place so far into the future after Korra. I think a lot I mean, what's your feeling about the world that you know has been basically destroyed?
You know, I feel like it's bittersweet. Right? It's like, oh, it's sad, but if I think about our own world and how, you know, hundreds of years ago the the world does look very different and things do change and you know, wars happen or these things happen, and yeah, so I guess it's bittersweet, but we're moving forward, and I think maybe it was necessary.
I think there's a couple of different directions that they could have gone with a sequel to Korra. Either you I mean, I think a safe direction would have been, you know, Korra dies, which Korra dies is an old lady happy in bed next to Asami. They share one final kiss, she breathes her last breath, and then immediately after Why would Asami still be alive?
Because she's gonna outlive she had money, she had privilege.
Yeah, but she was like taking care of Korra, which I mean, like that was probably a lot.
Okay, well, okay, Asami died decades ago. Korra's alone, no friends, no family. Tenzin's long gone.
Yeah, but Tenzin's kids are Oh, they're they're gonna take care of Korra.
They're like, okay. So then a safe bag would have been, you know, Korra dies immediately after there's an earth, earth kid. But then I think you run into this difficulty of like, you know, Korra was kind of roaring 20s, 30s. Like, if you follow that to its end in the next avatar, like you're getting into what would be analogous for us, you know, the 70s, the 80s.
Like, are we gonna send like someone to the moon? Is there a moon on the avatar world? Like, so I think that would have been an interesting direction to go, but it's like, oh, how much more does this like what how does the world evolve? And you're getting so far away from what people really enjoyed in the last airbender and that fantasy setting.
So it's probably I think it's probably like a necessary sacrifice to be like, eh, Republic City's probably gone. Bossing say, it's probably been destroyed.
Well, I'm excited to find out because I feel like we'll probably touch on that a little.
The last thing I want to talk about is there was like kind of echoes of maybe who the initial antagonist antagonists are or is. We got a mask, a dude wearing a mask, Rockin' Swords. He looked kind of like a bad guy because he was fighting. But I think there's gonna be a lot of like twists. It's like, oh, they're not actually the bad guy, they're here to save you.
I think there's probably gonna be a lot of that going on. But then there was like the angry woman. Did you s did you catch her? Yeah, it was like the queen. Sure, yeah, the queen of Alora. Sure. So yeah, she's like, I mean, there's like many I mean all of her scenes were catch the avatar, don't harbor the avatar.
Totally. She's gonna kick your Heiny. Heiney if you're if you're hiding the Avatar.
So yeah, is this person are we gonna find out more about this person? Is she the leader and just trying to like keep keep their people safe? Like, yeah. There's only one way for us to know. And I guess we're gonna start to find out on Friday. Okay.
Friday, Friday.
13 episodes, season one. They've already been greenlit for season two. Presumably they're working on it, almost done with it, and that's gonna be another 13 episodes bringing if it is just that, then we'll have 26 episodes of potentially a series. And I think that's really great. I think it's nice that they have 26 episodes starting off The Legend of Korra, we all know, we all know, was gonna be a 10-episode miniseries, and then part way through production.
They're like, oh, by the way, we're gonna do season two, and so you know, all these like start and stops. So hopefully, if nothing else, I hope Mike and Brian have learned that they'll just tell like maybe a self-contained two-season story with potential for future, future stories, and maybe that's a good direction for them to go.
Yeah.
So, here we go. We've starting the mics back up six years after the end of our first run for a new, different version of Yip Ya Paray, an Avatar Podcast. Are you ready? I think so. I'm gonna I guess saddle up my cat monkey.
unknown Meow, meow.
And I'm gonna hold on to our time to get a flying bison pillow. Got our got our APA pillow.
So, how episodes are gonna do, we are gonna try to release a new episode in correlation to the episodes that release, not how we used to do it, where we'd bundle th two or three or four episodes together and talk about them. I think we're gonna go episode by episode and release them. I'm gonna I'm gonna try like as soon as possible.
Yeah. So, you know, it'll be not random, but you gotta be on the lookout. Yeah, just put put on your glasses.
Monocle, yeah, and just look.
If you don't wear glasses, it's you gotta get some. It's time to look for 'em! It's time to put on your glasses.
All right, everybody. Thanks for joining in and getting on the train. The yip-yip train. The yip-yip train to learn all about what or who the seven havens are.
Yay!
You're one of my havens.
Oh, and you're one of mine.
Oh, I guess that's two of the seven. Alora.
Alora.
Alright. Yep, yep.
Yep, yep. Hooray! Your internal flame. I feel like you speak at the front of your mouth, and I'm like more in the back.
In the throat.
Okay. I'm excited to talk about that.
Are you okay? Is it too much in the back of the throat? Nope. Do you have COVID?
I think I got a little drippy nose.
A little drippy nose.
Are you sick? A little slugger. Sick of the bullshit.
