Even if Eris kills Baron, he should not be able to guarantee that he becomes High Lord, right? That is not how the magic works. That's we are told time and time again. That is not how the magic works. Eris knows a bunch of shit, and Eris seems pretty determined that he can manipulate whatever this magic is to give himself the throne, right? I don't really know what's going on. I feel like I've literally just disappeared underwater for five days, but that's fine.

I was pretty sick from Tuesday afternoon all the way through like the night of Thanksgiving. That's so brutal. So I was like, OK for the flight, but, like, my sinus is definitely hurt, like around my, like, orbital bones, you know, I hate that when they have, like, pressure there. Yeah. But I had a lot of downtime where my brain wasn't really working.

Like, it wasn't working well enough to, like, do anything productive, unfortunately. But it was working well enough to like, consume just mindless content. Dancing With the Stars and Wicked have taken over my life. I haven't seen Wicked yet, did you see? It Oh my gosh, I saw it last night. Yeah, I. Think I'm going tomorrow?

Oh. My gosh. So I'm sorry that we can't talk. I know what the hell I specifically was like, I can't see it after we record. I know, I tried, I tried, I tried, but so did you not see it? With your sister? I didn't see it with my sister. I didn't see it with my parents. Everyone was like, we're too busy.

We're too busy. And I was like, I thought we had an agreement. I was not seeing it because I wanted to see it with you guys. I thought we had this agreement that we would see this together, but it didn't happen. But now I think we're going to go tomorrow night is the plan. I did start watching Stranger Things though, which I'm only two episodes in. We'll see how it goes, but I I did do that. I just didn't watch.

Wicked. I haven't started Stranger Things. I have like I have too many. I'm calling them big rocks, which is such a corporate term, but they are big rocks in my life that I need like that I don't have space to consume right now. Stranger Things is a big rock. Alchemized is a big rock. Like these are two things that I don't have space for right now.

I need. I'm rereading Brimstone. That's where I'm at right now. Like I can't handle. I watched Wiccan. I'm rereading Brimstone. I'm sick. I have to make sure these episodes don't suck. Like that's where I'm at right now. Like that's, that's what I have that Dancing with the Stars and Wiccan Consumer Week.

I love that you've added Dancing with the Stars to this. Rotation. That was not intentional. That was TikTok. That was social media forcing it upon me. I didn't want it. Robert Irwin and Alex Earl were thrust upon me. I have to tell you that I only learned who Alex Earl was yesterday because she was suddenly all over my fucking Instagram feed and I was like. Because Dancing with the Stars.

And then I found out it was because of Dancing With the Stars, and I was like, is this 2001? Like what's happening here? She I have seen her dance no less than 500 times and I found out after the 200th time that she didn't even win. And I'm like, why am I hearing so much about this? She didn't even win.

I don't, yeah. I mean, they're doing a good job of staying relevant. Like they're just, I guess they're just getting into big posh, Yeah, big marketing for them. Because I got to be honest, I had no idea Dancing With the Stars was even like still on until I kept seeing clips of Steve Irwin dancing.

I was like. Steve Irwin is rolling over in his grave, but you just confused him with Robert Irwin. Sorry I. Am not up on my animal keepers, OK, I'm sorry. That's not one of my big rocks, so to speak. Yeah, Robert Irwin, he's very cute though. He's he seems like a sweet man. Yeah, it's a it seems like a cute show.

I don't know. And it is available for streaming on like I don't know what it's on Disney Plus. I don't know. We have everything. So that was on in the background while I last minute preps for this yesterday. Yeah, well. They had a Wicked episode where they danced to all of the numbers of from Wicked Part 1. Part 1 OK, see I'm not even listening to the soundtrack for Wicked Part 2.

I'm like, if you listen to the soundtrack for for good before seeing for good, you've spoiled the whole fucking movie. The whole point is the music. I don't get it, But that's just me. Feel that way because I feel like most of the people who are going to see it already know most of the soundtrack. Like they did add new music which is part of the. Whole thing yeah I recognize that I'm weird in that I don't want wicked for good to be spoiled for me it's already been spoiled like I know what fucking happens but like I don't actually I don't know how it plays out but it's. Different in the book.

I know it's different in the book. It's completely different in the book, I understand. That it's different in the book. I've read the book and I've seen the show. I understand. So I don't like it's different. And they do, Yeah. Yeah. I won't say anything, but yeah, I understand what you're. Saying I got it anyway.

All right, well. Turns out that we can't talk about any of. This sorry, all the banter we we prepped the wrong banter. I watch Stranger Things. You saw Wicked and now we have nothing to talk. Now we have nothing to to discuss. And you haven't watched Dancing with the Stars. And really, neither have I just it's taken over my life.

So I decided maybe I should get up to speed on it. And the wicked numbers were very cute. They were quite good. And there's a lot of this is this is men. With all all respect, there's a lot of blondes on Dancing With the Stars. So there were a lot of great Glendas. Oh, that's good. Yeah. Great Glendas. Are there many green people on Dancing with the Stars? Well, they they dressed it up.

They did some great, yeah. They didn't do any full body, full body paint or anything like that. They just like made somebody else green themed. Got it. Yeah. Nice. Well, I'm glad we'll talk about Brimstone at the end, I guess. And reading. Corner it is it is when I'm reading spoiler for the reading corner. It's currently what I'm reading again. Yeah, I just finished it and I very calmly, I, I went to, I went to chapter one, Page 1, just like, OK, understood. I'm going to start it right over. That's all we'll say for now.

All right, Hi, everyone. I'm Abby. And I'm Ronnie. And this is Dragons in the details, where we pick apart our favorite fantasy series over the course of an undetermined number of episodes. This episode is not about brimstone this season. This episode is about a court of thorns and roses. The series also known as Acatar by Sarah J Mass Disclaimer These episodes will contain spoilers for the entire Acatar series.

Will announce any other mass for spoilers ahead of time, and we keep them to the end. You guys know this by now. We have an Acatar section. We have a Mass first section. Again, plug for the mass first. We'd love the mass first. If you haven't read the Mass first, highly recommend. Read it. We're we're enough episodes in at this point that I expect you guys to be at least through like one of the series at this point. The Crescent City is only three books, three books each of which I believe were over 90 chapters.

I'm saying it might be like it might be like 2/3 the length though throwing a glass. Yeah, I mean, like, look, I'm not going to sit here and say every single word in Crescent City is needed. They are tomes, but they are good. They are good, very good. So that's our plug for the the mass versus Disclaimer.

This podcast is rated R Do not listen with your children. Each week we dive into a specific topic in depth. This week we are focusing on the actually in caps actually most morally great character in this series, Eris van Sera Ronnie. Real quick before we dive in, I had a great time prepping for this episode. I thought this was super fun.

How did you feel about it? Like Eris is just so fun. So I went in, I think you know this, I went in kind of already an Eris fan. I I already know that I like Eris as a character. Like, I think he's fun. I think he's, I think he's actually morally Gray. Like, I don't really quite know what I'm going to get out of him yet. Yeah, I came out really liking Eris. Yeah.

Like, I am an Eris fan. I'm very excited, actively excited about Eris. But we'll see whether you agree with me. I don't know. I'm excited for where it's going to go. I'm pretty excited. I'll tell you right now, my pre cod corner theory is fucking crazy, so I'm excited about it. We'll see where it goes. I think this is going to be a good episode. We're coming with receipts.

We have quotes to back up any theories so you can follow along if you are skeptical. Ronnie, do you want to do announcements? Yes, announcements. As always. Deep Dive Music brought to you by Shwoodly SCHWOODLEY. That is a real artist that plays real music. He does our Deep Dive Jingle. They're great to check them out on Spotify if you like our deep dive music and also I think we have a social media milestone 10K on Instagram on. Instagram.

Following us there and Abby, do you want to talk about your social media milestone and you personify the Instagram stories that are shared so I feel like you deserve to make a little a little announcement to. The meme that I shared. Yeah, no, no, no. I'm talking about like you share you repost stories to Instagram that have personality behind them, I feel. And so I feel like you should make we hit 10. 1000 on on Instagram and it's great and we love you guys so much and thank you all for following along.

Whether you are new, whether you've been following us, it's day one. We love doing this, but we love doing this because we love interacting with you guys like that is the best part of this. So just, you know, we're we're so happy you're here and thank you. And we think this is a great little community that we're growing here. And yeah, we're just very thankful. Even though last week was our Thanksgiving episode, this week we're thankful.

Yeah. But really, we love. I don't think either of us ever imagined when we started this podcast in April, March. I don't know. Can't think in March. I think we went live in March, which means we started probably in February. Yeah, that we'd be at 10,000 followers on Instagram within this year. Like that's pretty fucking crazy. I thought when we hit 1000, I was like, well, this is probably as good as it's going to get.

Yeah, we got everyone here. There's not there's not that many people who are that interested in this. Yeah. So we just love you guys. And you know, we hear you that you want some in person meetups. We hear you on other things. We're going to try to, we're going to try to make it work. We'll see what happens.

Yeah, we're working on it. Yes, we're working on it. We do our best to keep up with all of your DMS from all avenues, and we appreciate your following your interaction. We know that some of you are, you know, double followers on different platforms, and so for that, we appreciate you too. Can't imagine you being cool with getting hip from all directions, but we appreciate you all the same.

And yeah, keep being you, keep interacting with us. We very much appreciate it. Every once in a while. I I mean, I follow I follow the pod on Instagram. Obviously every once in a while I won't be hit with a story, a story that Abby has reposted. And I'm just like, you've taken it too far this this time, but you never actually have.

But every once in a while my reaction is like, what the fuck is this account? And then I'm like, it's US. And it was the Gollum ornament. The Gollum ornament was like, what literally, who am I following right now? And it was us. OK, OK, here's what happened. Here's what happened. What Ronnie is referring to saw a real hallmark has made. And I think I have to buy this.

So I kind of want to keep my voice. I can't believe you have to hear me. I was waiting to see if there would be a Black Friday sale but there wasn't so I'm just going to. Hallmark has made a Gollum Christmas ornament that talks and says like my precious and it is the most haunted fucking thing I've ever seen in my entire life.

It is so creepy. I love it so much. I have never bought my boyfriend a Christmas ornament but I really want to buy this for him and just see what his reaction is. It is $55 which I feel like is too much for a Christmas ornament but like I might just have to do it for the gag, you know? I might have to do it. And that was when Ronnie.

Every year I love her. I want to. I love it. Something's wrong with you. I know Roddy, DM me and she goes you've got too far. And I thought, no, I haven't, No, I haven't. I just can't explain the like the sequence of emotions when I was like what the fuck is this? Who do I follow? Who posted this? It's our podcast.

So if you guys are wondering, we truly do post different things on TikTok on Instagram, if you can't tell by now. So it is kind of worth it to do Also I do that is one of the sadder things about TikTok is it's just like not quite as personal like TikTok stories or not as much of a thing. So you don't see as much of a human behind it, but that's OK.

Occasionally people will DM our Instagram and they'll be like, hey Abby? And I'm like, oh, you guys actually listen to the pod, You know that? I don't. Know definitely, which is great, yeah. And I will say every once in a while Ronnie will also DM me on our on our Instagram and be like oh this one made me laugh so hard.

And I'm like, OK if I made Roddy laugh. Yeah, the memes do crack me up, but also I am the target audience, so there's that. Yeah, but you were like, you were like part of the format relation of the means. Like, yeah, but we do laugh at ourselves. All the time. Well, thank you for everyone on this journey with us. We love you guys.

You make us laugh. We hope we make you laugh. We're just having fun here. It's a big fun, big, fun, very nerdy book club that we've got going on here. Yes. Yeah. All right. That's it for announcements, back to you. Kazums, do you have any Kazums, do you want to go first? Awesome. And if you're new here, Kazum stands for Corrections or Missions. Social media shout outs.

I do have and do have a cosm yes, OK, I have a fun. It's truly just social media shadows. This social media shadow is dedicated to everybody who contribute to contributed to the what music does Reese listen to discourse that follows our last episodes, our last couple episodes fun question, which was if Reese lived in our world, what music would he listen to? And we got a surprising amount from all avenues of just like pylons to this question.

And I wanted to share some opinions because I thought, but you know, there were things that I hadn't considered and when people brought them up, I was like 100%. I 1000% actually agree with this. So one show is for the Gen. X on YouTube. The Gen. X says that they think Reese is a show tunes girly. I'm totally with you.

I specifically think that he would get down to some Andrew Lloyd Webber. I think Andrew Lloyd Webber specifically, and I think we talked about this, Abby and I, Phantom of the Opera specifically, in some ways he kind of embodies the Phantom of the Opera if the story ended very, very differently. Meaning the Phantom of the Opera actually got picked and was not, you know, unfortunately deformed and happened to be very, very beautiful and did win the woman in the end. Spoilers, I guess, for Phantom of the Opera. Yeah, I was about to say, like, I don't remember how Phantom of the Opera ends.

But come on, the Phantom of the Opera has been out forever. You know the Phantom of the Opera, you don't. Gerard Butler, Emmy Roslin, they do a phenomenal job. Everybody go watch the movie. It's very, very good. Gaynor spends 3 on YouTube said that they think Reese listens to classical music, which I think is kind of what you were getting at except for then you took it to to rap.

Classical compositions of popular music? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I don't know how rap specific specifically would work, but Jay-Z, Jay-Z would make sense. Dramatic theatrical scores and epic movie soundtracks. I totally agree with this as well. I started listening to, I think I texted you this too, Hans Zimmer, Spotify playlists at work. And I was like, wow, Reese would totally fly to Valaris to this music, like fly over Valaris to this music, like epic theatrical scores.

Totally agree with us. And then my favorite shout out is to Sid Kid on Discord. Basically sparked a full discussion on the bad boys music tastes in general but Sid Kid basically said they totally agree on classical dad rock for Reese but could also see him being low key and Nickelback fan which seems like kind of a dig. I don't know about Nickelback but this did devolve into kind of a delightful conversation about how Cassian would listen to ska music and pop hits as his guilty pleasure. I grew with the pop hits.

I guess I could see the ska music, I guess I could. And Asrea listens to emo pop punk, which like obviously My Chemical Romance my. Chemical romance pierced the. Veil all that. All of it. Someone also commented on Spotify, I don't remember who it was, but they said they could totally see Cass see in being a closet Swifty, to which I was like 100% yes.

Yeah, that's exactly the. Closet. Yeah. Would he hide it in the closet? He doesn't really seem like somebody. Who guys? Well. I just think he's AI sing Taylor Swift in the. Shower guy, but like, that would work, yeah, yeah. Maybe he doesn't feel the need to sing it out out in the open. Yeah. Great, great fun question.

That was your you always do the fun questions. That was a great one guys. I lost fun questions privileges because Ronnie was like, these aren't fun questions. They were just deep dive questions. We just started the episode. I don't know. I'm sorry, we all have our strength. They were good questions. OK, I'm not saying they weren't good. No, it's all good.

So that was a shout out to everybody who participated in that debate because I thought it was hilarious and fun. And that's it. That's my a guitar cosm. All right, I have a more traditional Cosm, but I loved that Lydia Marie Johnson on Spotify. She comments a lot. So shout out to you, Lydia. I have imagine that you're listening.

She might have actually been the one who said the Cassie and Taylor Swift thing, now they think about it. So you might be getting a double cosm. I'm not sure. Double. Cosm. She was commenting I think on our last episode where we talked about first person and third person. She said. I'm on my third reread of Akawa right now and something interesting I noted about first first verse.

Third person is when favorite goes into Lucia's mind while he's approaching a lane in the House of wind. It's all in third person, which is odd to me because you'd think it'd be first person. When Reese shows Favorite his memories of I, Amphi it's first person, but maybe that's just because they're mates? Unclear, but it definitely stuck me. Struck me as odd.

I remember eating this and thinking the same thing when Pharah goes into Lucian's mind in the House of when it's all in third person. And as she said with with Reese showing Pharah the memories of I anthe it's first person. I think this could be an oopsie. I definitely think it could be an oopsie, right? Like maybe Sergei mess was inconsistent in how she wrote this.

I think this could also be another clue that what that kind of what we're seeing in Lucian's mind here is not actually what's supposed to be in Lucian's mind with regards to Elaine. Perhaps right, because we're getting that third person and he's not saying she's, he's not saying I feel Feyra is saying he feels right. So it's like kind of another veil, another another clue perhaps that something is not the way it's supposed to be here.

Now we also get a lot of Jasminda in that monologue. We learn a lot about Jasminda there. So like maybe it is just an oopsie. I'm not sure. But I do think it's like a really interesting point that we have this difference in how these two things are portrayed when they're seemingly the same thing and kind of asking why would that be?

Shout out Selenia, great job pointing that out. Yeah, yeah, definitely. It's interesting, right? Because I, I noticed, I noticed it and honestly, on 1st read, this is not a good explanation. I'm not using this as the explanation for why it was, but the the explanation in my mind was like Reese's showing her, like Reese's like look at my mind. And therefore it was first person versus Farah was looking at Lucian.

Yeah. Therefore like she was just observing him in his mind. And that was like my. Rationale for it in my brain. But that's not that doesn't really hold in the rules of these worlds, I don't think so. I think it's a great point, yeah. Yeah, I don't know. It could be that too, like it's a invitation versus an intrusion type thing.

If there was intention behind it, I'd love to hear that Intention, you know? Someone asked. Sarah Jane asked that question. Yeah. Why was there a difference between these two things? What was that choice? Yeah. Who is Ersten, truly? All right, anymore cosms? No more cosms. All right, we have a fun question this week, as always brought to us by Ronnie.

All right, Ronnie, does Eris have hobbies in your head cannon? What are they? Eris does have hobbies in my head cannon I came up with too many so I picked three that I'm going to. Oh my God, I have one. They're not elaborate. They're not elaborate. I just found myself really, really liking Eris. And I always answer the fun questions at the end of the episode 1.

I think that Eris is like kind kind of a dog dad. I think he's a dog dad. So I think he has a morning routine with his hounds and I think he like feeds them good food, not like snobby person dog food, but like meat, like good food for dogs. Like I think he wakes up and he goes and tends to the hounds and he like feeds some breakfast and he like takes them on their run and he's like go and then he like brings them back and then he like goes about his day.

So I think he is one of his hobbies is like his hounds, his little pack of hounds. I think that if chess exists in Prythian, I think he'd be annoyingly good at it. Like I think he casually suggests that you play like it's like not a big deal, and then he would crush you. I think he'd be very, very good at chess.

Think there is mention of a chess set. I think Cassian and someone is playing chess at one point during Sol during a solstice I feel like. Excellent. We could find this out, but we don't care enough. Yeah, I mean, I could search it quickly. I could have searched it in prep. I just didn't. I'm like, if it exists, there was something else that existed the. Badminton.

Badminton because at one point Favorite refers herself as a shuttlecock. No, no, no, she she calls herself a shuttlecock, which means badminton exists in Prithean. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was shuttlecock. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So it just exists. I think the errors would be good. And I also think he's I think he's bookworm. I think he loves to read.

Maybe he'd be a fan of the pod, Probably not. Oh my God. Or if you're listening. I think he'd be a solitude reader, but I think he likes to read, yeah. I went in a different direction. I think Eris likes to shop. He's always dressed very nicely. I also think he's probably a man who enjoys A manicure.

Yeah, he's a bit of a dandy. Yeah. So I think a day with the gals shopping, getting their nails done, probably right up Eris's alley. Excellent. In fact, I think him and Moore probably would have been great best friends at 1:00. .0 Yeah, yeah. But sadly, I think that shifts. Probably. I mean baby beards.

Maybe we'll get there. I don't know. Could be. I didn't really go in that direction. I don't know why I brought that up, but like, if that shook out like, that would be great. Yeah. I don't know if you don't need beards and Prithean, I don't know why this is a thing, but whatever. Yeah, I love it.

Like, all right, face on is just like out here, right? Right. Shall we deep dive? Let's deep dive. Abby, what are Eris powers? All right, I don't have. Thankfully for Eris, it's not like a crazy long list. Look, it's it's nothing. It's nothing super long. Don't worry, I still have something wackadoodle in here. First thing, fire.

He wields fire. I didn't pull a quote for that one. Guys like, he definitely wields fire. He wields fire. He melts the ice. When Farrah and Lucian are escaping to Winter Court, his hands are off and wreathed in fire. He restrains Farrah with a fire gag when she's on the ice. He wields fire. Much like everyone else in the Autumn Court or most people in the Autumn Court, he has mental shielding.

So we know he has this because we have the quote. I knew it as a matter of time before 1 of you arrived to take care of my memory as well. Eris tapped the side of his head with a long finger. Too bad for you I learned a thing or two about Demati. Too bad for my brothers that I never bothered to teach them. So we know that Eris has some degree of mental shielding, which I actually think is kind of interesting because Reese at one point said that all High Lords are or learn how to do this.

But it seems like Eris knows how to do this. We don't know if Baron knows how to do this, but Eris knows how to do this and his brothers don't. So kind of like why does that disparity exist between what Reese thinks? So what Eris knows and what his brothers know? Yep, winnowing. He can winnow. So he winnows in front of Feyre and Lucian on the ice in the Winter Court.

Again, this is kind of the first time we're really meeting Heiress winnows in front of them during the battle. And then our favorite quote, he appears out of a riff in the world to fight in the battle against Hiburn. I don't know why it was described as out of a riff in the world for that, but we have that there.

Seemingly all of the Vance Sarah children can winnow, so that's not necessarily that crazy. The quote for that is for those were his brothers approaching the frontline winnowing and burst through the hose right past the front lines into the enemy wagons scattered throughout its rank. So much like the flame winnowing seems to be something that all of the children of the Autumn Courts, High Lord and Lady can do. I have a wack a doodle one here but do you have anything you want to add before that?

A wack a doodle one as well. What's your wackadoodle? He seems to have a notably unnaturally good sense of smell. I didn't even have that, but you know what you're talking about. All right, let's do it. Let's talk about that. In 1/4 of Silver Flames Chapter 7 and it's it's mentioned a couple times, he sniffs things that he shouldn't, doesn't need to be sniffing, but specifically in 1/4 of Silver Flames Chapter 7 said Aris sniffed the night breeze then smiled.

She couldn't be bothered to come inside to say hello. How he detected Moore's lingering scent, Cassie and didn't know. Perhaps Aris and his smoke hounds had more in common than he realized. She didn't know you were here. So he's not only not only detecting sense of being, sense of human, sense of fae, which is common in Perthian like other fae are doing this, but he's detecting sense of specific people.

And Cassie is marking this as odd. Is this like, is this normal? Is this a gift? It seems like it's a gift. It seems like it's maybe a power in Eris's arsenal. There is also a moment and I I think it might be the same scene. It might be before this where he's he, they're talking about his soldiers having disappeared in silver flames.

And he says my hounds detected human sense. Like, how do you know that? How do you? Yeah, but he said, like, my hounds confirmed that they were human. I'm like, are you? How do you? How on earth could hounds? How are you speaking with your hounds? Yeah. How is that possible? Yeah. Well, I mean, I think like send hounds in general, like someone has figured out how to confirm what hounds are. Hounds are smelling like.

That's kind of their whole point, but it's. Like a like a trail, Yes, but like, how would you confirm that? It's a human scent, you know? Well, not only were the hounds confirming that the sense were human, but they were also saying that something was slightly off about them, right? Because these were the humans that were being controlled by the crown.

So it was like something that was slightly off. So how are you getting from your hounds that the sense we often got them? Like are you chatting with these hounds? Are you is something about you hound yourself? Like we haven't seen all of high Lords have a beast form. We haven't seen Baron's beast form. Like is we know that Eris is Insignia as a hound. So like is that the autumn courts beast form? Does Eris already have like an affinity towards that somehow? Yeah, I don't know.

I did just have a thought, but we can't talk about it right now. I know I have the same one. OK, I had I had an idea that he could potentially and this is wackadoodle, potentially give his power to others and in few others, specifically Farah with power. The reason I kind of think that is because when he's hunting down Lucian and Farah in the autumn court in ACA war, I think we I think this is actually a really interesting scene to re examine now, right, because we know at the time we thought Aris and Baron were in league right and Aris just wanted to capture Farah and Lucian and return them to Baron, right.

But actually, when we go back and read Silver Flames, it seems like that was probably not the case because he hates Baron and he wants to overthrow Baron and he wants to be in league with Reese. So it would actually probably be much more beneficial to him to return Farah to the Night Court. I don't know that that's actually what happened, but it's just a kind of interesting thing to think about.

We also have this quote from Silver Flames Chapter 14. You've turned into quite the little traitor reset, stars waking out in his eyes. I told you years ago what I wanted, High Lord Aris said, Which means that he has been plotting Barry overthrow for years at this point, right? Like it's, it's, it didn't just start in Silver flames, this started years ago. So he's been quietly working against his father for years. Farrah feels her fire magic start to come back right when Aris shows up, right.

So the quote for that is? Aris merely said to me, cold and bored, get up. I felt it then, stirring awake, as if some stick had poked it, as if being here in this territory, amongst its blooded Royals had somehow sparked it to life. Boiling past that poison, turning that poison into steam. I caught Lucian's his eye and he saw the sweat beating on my temple, my upper lip as my blood heated. So that's an Akawar chapter 12.

So Aris shows up, and then suddenly she feels her firepower come back and she seals Aris and his brothers in The Cave with flame, right? And as so the quote for that is. And as Aris's shove caused him to get on uneven footing, I turned my propelled step on him, twisting so fast he didn't see me get into his open guard. I drove my elbow into his nose.

Aris stumbled back, flames slammed into the other two, and Lucian hurdled out of the way as they shouted and fell deeper into The Cave. I unleashed every drop of the flame in me, a wall of it between US and them, sealing his brothers inside The Cave. Eris can winnow. We just went over this. Eris can winnow.

Why was he trapped in that cave? That doesn't actually make any sense when you think about it. Right? So did he let them go because he wanted. He actually was on Reese's side for all of us, right? So like, yeah, a The Cave and doesn't make any sense, Yeah. Right. I'm totally with you. I thought, I totally thought he was helping Farrah in that moment. I actually thought, I didn't think he was transferring power. I thought he.

I think my annotation I can find it was is he burning the Fabian out of Farrah? Oh, that's interesting. Just burning the poison out of her in that. Yeah. Because I think I'd be wearing off. I think it was like kind of starting to wear off right when they were showing up. Right. Because she was like slipping into Lucian's mind when they were sleeping the night before.

She was. And then her flames start to come back and Lucian burn off the poison. Yeah. And Lucian, right. It's interesting. What comes back is specifically fire, which is Eris's power. And Lucian's fire comes back at the same time. And she says it might be because of the land. And we know there's something about the land and doing the magic, it does make sense.

But also, we have Eris, who we know is kind of a double agent in the scenario, leading the charge against them, and they mysteriously don't capture them, Right? And what happens is her power comes back, only the firepower, and then it disappears again. And then when she gets back to the Night Court, she's like, OK, she's healed again.

Let me just say, yeah, when they try to get away from Eris, her magic is gone again. So the quote for that is, I tried over and over to shout down the bond to Reese, to winnow, to grow wings and attempt to fly us out of the mountain pass. We trudge through the snow, waist deep and so densely packed in places we had to crawl over it. Our skin scraped raw from the ice. But the Fabian stifling grip held the majority of power in check.

ACA war chapter 12. So it's exactly what you're saying right? Like Eris seemingly is somehow able to burn away this magic, or give her firepower, we don't know, but give her tools to defend herself in this scenario. And then in that same chapter, beyond the mountain, a great ice plane sparkled into the distance.

It would take days to cross, but it didn't matter. I'd have woken with enough power in my veins to warm us with a small fire. Slowly, so slowly, the effects of the Fey being ebbed. Her and Lucian are literally able to take down a cave with fire in the preceding chapter, right? And it's not like we don't really have this notion of magic being like, spent here, right?

Like, it's like the Fabian wears off or it doesn't. So why is she able to like have this little scene where she can take down The Cave and then she has to recover again? Wasn't there a point in this scene as well? And I'm working completely off of memory, but it seems like you have it up so maybe you can look.

Wasn't there a point in the scene where she threw her flames into Lucian's blow as well? There was. Maybe that's that's what was happening. Yeah. Just like throwing his flames into her. Yeah, imagine. Yeah, so maybe it's not. He's actually like imbuing with her with power, but maybe he just like, well, kind of the same thing though. Yeah.

Yeah. But I think it's really, I think it's an interesting scene to go back and reread because this is Eris's MO, right? You think he's working against you. And then he says, look again, go look again. And actually, like, we have it with more. We have it with Lucia. And I think we have it here too. Like, actually pay attention to what happened and what I did and don't have your preconceived notions of my motivations in your head.

We love the character like. That does that quite a bit. Yeah, cool. Yeah, I'm in. The only other quote I have for this is when he tracks them down in Winter Court. Farah even mentions how slowly he seems to be pursuing them. So the quote is that water splashed beneath my boots, Thawed ice. Eris had to be either expending all his power to get through millennia of ice, or he was just doing it slowly to torture us right? Or he was doing it slowly to give you a chance of escape. So just an interesting chapter to go back and repeat if you're looking cool.

Anything else on this one? Nope. Cool. I think it's the shortest list of powers. Oh my God, thank you Aris for being so straightforward until. Thanks for having not enough page time for how important you are so far. All right, Ronnie, why is Reese so trusting of Aris? Yes. So I think there's there's metaphorical reasons and then there are pretty literal reasons that Reese's seemingly very trusting of Heiress as the series develops. So Reese and Heiress were both sons of pretty ruthless high Lords back in their day.

The main difference being that Reese's father is already dead. But we know that Eris and Reese grew up knowing each other in some regard. They were sons of high Lords at the same time and they're around the same age. They have a lot of parallels. Reese's father and Baron sound like very similar figures, with the main difference being other than Reese's father being dead, that Reese's father seemed to genuinely love and was mated to Reese's mother, while Baron really married the lady of the Autumn Court with the purposes of creating good bloodlines. Reese put on a show for a very long time, like basically until the events of of a Chord of Wings and Ruin as a tyrannical figure.

And I think he sees beneath the surface of Eris's facade. And we get a few clues that this might be the case. Basically that Eris seems to be a Reese figure just like we were just talking about. Eris has made clear that he made clear and as clear of a way as he can, right? Because he's still in this. He's still in the era of what Reese was basically in Amaranthus rule and before it.

He is forced to do things that he doesn't agree with by his father, and he's held accountable to actually doing them. Because he's accompanied by his brothers in most cases, who are very much also pieces of shit and seem to be actual pieces of shit, unfortunately. It's like football. Meathead redheads is not.

We don't even know. I mean, we'll talk more about this probably, but we don't even know their names. Like they're not Sarah Dumas is not even Dane to. Tell us. Yeah. Their names because they just aren't worth it. They're just pieces of meat at this point. We are given a hint to him being forced to do these things when he explains why he haunted down Pharaoh in that scene that we just talked about, and he says there are forces at work we've never considered when More references is their back story.

So that's an according wings through in chapter 26. More snarled, rather rattling the glasses. You never gave any evidence to the contrary, certainly not when you left me in those woods. There were forces of work that you have never considered. Aris said coldly. And I am not going to waste my breath explaining them to you.

Believe what you want about me. Ferret cuts in. You haunted me down like an animal. I couldn't, I think will choose to believe the worst Eris pale face flushed. I was given an order and sent to do it with two of my dot dot dot brothers. So Eris is making clear like I hands are tied here. There are forces at work. You don't understand them.

I've been doing the best we can here. Like I was given an order and I had to do these things. So he's giving us some of that information without being too over. In that same scene, he reveals, right, that he secretly protected Lucian, which did lead to the death of two of his his brothers. So that's kind of a big, kind of a big deal.

Like he, he did things anonymously and says he paid for it directly, implying that he was basically abused right by his father. So he is going through a lot. And that quote is? And what of the brother that you haunted down alongside me? The one whose lover you helped to execute? Before his eyes, Eris laid a hand flat on the table. You know nothing about what happened that day. Nothing.

Silence. Indulge me. Was all I said. Eris stared me down. I stared right back. How do you think he made it to the Spring border? He said quietly. I wasn't there when they did it. Ask him. I refused. It was the first and only time I have denied my father anything. He punished me, and by the time I got free, they were going to kill him too.

I made sure they didn't make sure Tamlin got word anonymously to get the hell over to his own border where 2 of Aris's brothers have been killed by Lucian and Tamlin. Aris picked at a stray thread on his jacket. Not all of us were so lucky. And our friends and family as you read. So there's a lot.

There's so many Reese parallels just in the scene alone, right? Like he's, he's confessing to helping Lucian. He's confessing to basically getting two of his brothers killed, which is kind of a huge, kind of huge deal. And he's picking at a stray thread on his jacket, which is a Reece trademark. And so I think Reece is aside from the over tells that we'll get to in a second.

Reece has been picking up probably for a long time on these clues of heiress actually being a better character than we were led to believe and being caught basically between a rock and a hard place because of his father and what he's being held to do. And then finally, he he implies that he might have had actually somewhat, I say somewhat because we know he did a really shitty thing, but somewhat decent intentions. At least when he first ended the betrothal with more he ended the betrothal.

He did not nail her womb. He did leave her. But later in that same scene, same scene, all actors, Chapter 26, Aris said, I wouldn't have touched you. And he also says I knew why you did it. So I gave you your freedom, ending the betrothal in no uncertain terms. And he says there are a few things I regret. That's one of them.

So he's basically saying, like, I wouldn't have like if we got married, like I wouldn't have like we would have just been, we'd have just been married. Like I wouldn't have touched you. We didn't need to like, do anything. I understand why you did what you did. Why do you understand that? Like, we'll get to that in a little bit.

But like, I regret this and I'm sorry. Aris has made clear in that moment, and probably to Reese before him, that he's not a bad guy. Now to the my mind potentially obvious flags. Eris has let Reese into his mind before to establish trust. So we know of specific a specific example of that. And I think it's just a nod to the fact that it's probably happened before in a court of silver flames.

Eris had bought more time and she says he's invited recent into his mind to see exactly why he convinced Kier to indefinitely delay his visit. To Valaris and only Eris had that sort of sway with the power hungry cure. So if Eris is at the point where he is inviting wreaths into his mind to confirm truth, like, that's a pretty big like, what else has he done that for, you know?

I mean, there's two options there, right? He's either telling the truth or he's been trained. By a Damati and he. Or he's been trained by a Damati. Yeah. Yeah, those are the. Options regardless of whether he's being honest or dishonest, I think that is why Reese is trusting of. And aside from that, Heiress has just showed signs of being a decent person in other ways, right? He is protective of his mother.

He positions himself between danger and his mother in the High Lord meeting and then Eris volunteers to take the Fabian antidote when his father says nobody in my court is taking it. So like, he's standing up, he's trying to do a good thing. He's trying to make the Autumn Court like less shitty as he sees Reece doing that for the first time in the night Court.

Because remember, like the night Court has put on this facade for years and years until this moment. So, So I think Reece sees himself and Eris and sees like the future of what the Autumn Court could be if, if Eris takes it over, like probably sees a court very, very similar to the court that Reese's father was running in the night court with Baron and rule. Like, they have the right ideas.

They're doing some of the right things. But Baron is just like very cold and very abusive. And if Eris can take take the throne, which is like ultimately what Eris wants out of Reese, then it will be a better, a better court. That's what I got. Yeah, I totally agree. This definitely seems like a for the greater good thing. I do think, and I don't have an answer here, but this just kind of occurred to me when you in the quote you read with more and I have it too.

Hold on. Only Eris had that sort of sway with the power hungry Keir. And whatever Eris had offered Keir in exchange for not coming here was still a mystery, right? Like that just feels like it's going to be important. Like what does Eris have that Keir wants? I don't have an answer. I don't think we know enough at this point to have an answer. But like why is Eris the only one who can kind of negotiate with Keir?

I think it's an interesting question to think about. Do you have an answer? No, it is interesting, right? Because while it's kind of surprising that the Autumn Court would be the one, the only one that could negotiate with Kier, here is pretty stunted, right? Like here doesn't have that much like the only people that here could really gain from our Reese and the Autumn Court. Yeah, that's true.

So if like Reese is never going to budget, my next bet would be Autumn. But interesting that Kier wants to, wouldn't you go straight to Baron if you were Kier? Like, hey, you want to overthrow Reese? I like, or like, hey, you want to expand your territory? I'm not so thrilled with Reese right now.

Like I would, I would ally with you, you know? It is interesting that Baron seems to choose to just not play a political role at. All Yeah, yeah, he's an enigma. He's maybe not. Fucking old. I know he's the oldest one, yeah. He's got to be like, what, 900 something? I don't know. Should I know?

I don't know. I know. He's the oldest high lawyer. Well, if Eris is 500, yeah. Eris is 500. Yeah. And Reese's father was like 900 when? When he died. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe he's 1000. I don't know. Anyways, it isn't that Eris is out doing a lot of the politicking on behalf of the Autumn Court and not the Autumn Court and not Baron. Yeah, I'm just reading through to someone else. I.

Want to include anything here? Yeah, So the only thing I think I'd point out here, I agree with everything you said and what I'm about to say might be somewhat outside of the bounds of this question. But I also think it might point to, and maybe Reese has realized this too, except that he's not actually a real person, but like there's kind of more evidence that Eris is actually good and not just acting out of his own self-interest. He is very invested in making sure that Baron doesn't start another war and specifically doesn't expand his territory into the Supreme Court, right?

He doesn't want Baron to do that, which if Eris's goal is to take over Baron's throne, doesn't make much sense because then. Because then Eris would have control over the Supreme Court and the Autumn Court too, right? So the quotes for that are? Reese murmured. Baron knows another war that pits Faye against Faye would be catastrophic. Many of us would be wiped out entirely, especially. Reese tilted his head back to taking the apple blossoms. Especially those of us who are weakened. And when the dust settles, there would be at least one court left vacant.

It's Lance bare for taking. So that is actually recent, Eris talking in the Supreme Court and Reese kind of putting together what Barrett wants, right? The other quotes they say a beast prowls these lands now a beast with keen green eyes and golden fur. Some people think the beast has forgotten his other shape. So long has he spent his has he spent in his monstrous form. And though he roams these lands he does not see or care for the neglect he passes the lawlessness, the vulnerability. Even his manner has fallen into disrepair, half eaten by thorns. The rumors fly that he himself destroyed it. Aris and Reece held each other's gaze. Aris said, you've been trying to bring Tamlin back for a while, but he isn't getting better, is

he right? So this is Aris specifically saying, Reece, you have to get Tamlin back or my father is going to take over the Supreme Court, right? And for Aris, it doesn't make sense for him to try to prevent this if he's just after power and territory and land, because it's not like Tamlin doesn't have soldiers that are going to add to Baron's army and make it harder for Eris to overthrow him, right? Like that's the specific thing that Tamlin doesn't have soldiers anymore, right?

So it can really only benefit Eris if Baron does take over the Supreme Court. But he's saying, and we don't know why, but like it has to maybe be out of the goodness of his heart, right? But he's saying you can't let this happen. This is not good. We need Tamlin back in fighting form, right? So I think maybe Reese's that too.

I think that's just another another piece of evidence for Eris's goodness. But then, you know, the way he approaches the inner circle and silver flames is basically like blackmailing them. And even an Aqua is basically blackmailing them into helping him, right? He's like, I'm going to tell Baron that Farrah has some of his power if you don't help me, and I don't know why that needs to be the dynamic, right? I don't know why Aris feels the need to be like, hey, I'm going to threaten you instead of I'm just going to talk to you and tell you what's happening and tell you that I want to help you.

So I do think it's interesting and very Reese. Reese coded basically. Yeah, I think it is still like, I know we are. Both of us seem to, I don't want to speak for you, but like both of us seem to believe that Eris is going to turn out to be a good character. I will say I think it's still being painted very much like a a Reese picture that doesn't have a clear ending yet.

Like he is very much still he is the most morally great. Like, you don't really know. Yeah, I know what's going to happen. Like, if he went the other way, I couldn't say that I'd be that shocked and we'll talk more. But like he is compared to a snake all the time, like these imagery in and there's not like I don't think there's a clear like animalistic or like beast form connection to be built off of it. But like is is this Sarah J Maas trying to feed this Reese image that he is putting up?

Or is it her trying to tell us? Is this like is this messaging her trying to tell us that, hey, he actually is a snake? Like, and it's not just Lucian saying Eris is a snake. Like, that's not the extent of the imagery. It's like with a snake smile, like his flames are like serpent's tongues, Like there is snake imagery with him all over the place. And so his behavior is still very much catty and snake like and nefarious, even though his actions seem to be contributing towards the greater good.

So, yeah, yeah. And it's interesting because the other person we get snake like imagery for is Amrin and Amrin. Amrin is not what she appears to be, right? Like we know that like Amrin appears to be Faye, but she is not Faye. So it's like, is there something, is there some kind of connection there?

That's all I'm going to say about that. Yep, I'm with you. OK, I think that's all we had. OK, Abby, how does Eris know everything he seems to know? All right. There are a lot of instances. I don't have a hard answer on how he knows these things, but there are a lot of things that Eris knows that he shouldn't seem to know. We referenced this earlier, but we'll bring it up here. He definitely seems to know that Moore prefers females. Which the quote but if it sure does. The quote for that, I apologize if we already read it. Eris looked between them, smiling faintly, secretly, as if he knew something that Azrael didn't. Azrael is a spy master, and he doesn't know this, OK? I wouldn't have touched you.

He said to Moore, who blanched again. But when you fucked that other bastard, that other bastard is interesting too, right? That other bastard? Like you're not a bastard, Iris, are you? A snarl ripped from Reese's throat at that. And my own. I knew why you did it again, that secret smile that had more shrinking shrinking.

So I gave you your freedom. Ending the patrol. No uncertain terms and what happened next blah blah blah. We already read that the people that know that more prefers females are seemingly more Vera and the dead human queen that Moore had an affair with 500 years ago and the patrons at Rita's. To be fair however, Rita's is in a secret city that no one knows about right?

So like I don't think Eris is like going to Rita's and hanging out with them. So either Eris found out about Valeris and immediately started trying to track down information about his ex fiancee, which doesn't seem like a great use of time, or something else is going on here. I don't know what that something else is, but when you think.

About who actually knows this? There's not that many people when they look Full disclosure to our listeners. I've not gone through this math. I've seen the discourse about the math leading up to Moore's age during this entire thing, during like the ages when they were betrothed. I mean, seems like she may have been very young.

OK, But Moore says that she knew from a very young age that she preferred females, right? I think it's a good point, Moore. This happens when Moore is, I believe, 19 or 20, right? So she's not going to play on yet, right? There's not a lot of time to have found out the secret. So Farrah's also off the table because obviously she doesn't exist yet.

And I don't think the war has happened yet. So literally no one knows actually when Eris does this, as far as we know. So how does Eris know? OK, Second point. He seems to know that Lucian is Helion's son. The quote we have for that is, well, Farrah says at one point that people have mused that Baron's High Lord status might pass to Lucian because his flames are so powerful. But then she realizes that Lucian is in fact Helion's son. So the quote for that is, I wrap my head around it, Lucian, not Baron's son, but Helions.

His power is flame, though they've mused Baron's title could go to him, right? So seemingly to everyone else, Lucian is Baron's son. Only Farrah has figured out and then told Reese that he's actually Helions. But then she realizes is that Eris must know because Eris does not see Lucian as a threat to his potential throne, right.

I'm using thrown in quotes here. So the quote for that is why Eris didn't want him dead. He wasn't a threat to Eris's power, his throne. I swallowed. Helian has no idea, does he? It would seem not the Lady of Autumn's favorite son. Not only only from Lucian's goodness, but because he was the child she dreamed of having with the male she undoubtedly loved. So even Helian doesn't know that Lucian is his son. The only ones that know this are the Lady of Autumn Court and Baron.

Because Baron does know. We find out that Baron knows that Lucian's not his son, right? Would Baron tell Eris? I don't really think so. It makes him look weak, right? It makes him look like a fucking cock. Like. I don't think he would tell Eris that Lucian's not his son. So again we have the question when there is only two people that know this, how? How Lucian knows this?

Or sorry, how Eris knows this? I don't know why I'm confusing them so much. Anything on that one? Nothing I can say. All right, in a court of silver flames we have some more weirdness that Cassian even points out. So he knows that three of the human Queens have scattered. The quote for that is I have it on good authority that the other 3 Queens have scattered to the winds. Cassian tucked away the informations and the questions it raised.

How did Eris know that Ray Allen has been fighting alone in their palace for weeks now, long before my soldiers vanished, so he has up to date, accurate information that no one else seems to have. He has spies. Like how does he have spies? Who are these? Who are these spies? Like what? Yeah, like what? What network is he tapped into?

Well, I mean, I don't know whether you were going to get to this. So if you if you are, I'm apologize. I apologize. But he he found Azrael. Who the fuck? Finds Azrael. He found Azrael. Yeah. You want to get into that? I wasn't. I actually wasn't going to bring that up because we already talked about it like.

Kind of where I stopped. Like. I mean the only comment that I have there is like, so the whole reason that Reece strikes this deal with Eris and starts working with Eris and brings him in to make a bargain with Kier and whatever is because Azrael went to go spy on Eris and Eris found Azrael and nobody finds Azrael.

He is a shadow singer. He can hide in shadows. He is invisible. I mean Eris does have flames, but none of the other brothers are finding Azrael. Baron is not finding Azrael. Lucians never found Azrael. How is Eris finding Azrael? He's been trained against the day Mahdi. None of his other brothers have been, maybe not even his father. Like why is he able to find Azrael? Why is he trained against the Damati? What skill does he have that we don't know about? And again, the only other person that I can remember, I didn't prep this, the only other person I can remember doing this is Amarin.

Amarin says call off your dog. And she's talking about Azrael, who's gone into shadow form and then the townhouse, right? Like I don't think we ever see anyone else do that. So we're again kind of getting an Amarin connection, which I think is super interesting. And I don't think I'm going to I'm going to say before I get into this that I don't actually think that Eris has Damati powers.

But the only thing I can think of, because we Amaran does in some regard, right? Like she does mind work. We know that Damati can cast out this awareness to like know who else is there? Like who else is around, who else's awareness is around? It's like the only thing I can think of is to how Amaran, I mean, Amaran is Amaran.

So she's like this whole other being, but like, how else do you detect a being that's undetectable? Like Greece has no issues seeing through glamour. Yeah, yeah. I don't know. I don't know, but he finds that and that's fucking crazy. That's all. Other things, Well, it's interesting, right? OK, so he knows the legends about Kochet. I don't know if that's interesting or not, but Cassian doesn't know them, and Cassian's job is literally hunting down monsters on Prythian and on the continent, right? So why does Eris know more about Koche than Cassian? The quote for that is certainly.

Vas appeared at her hands, fingers flexing. I fear what may happen if he ever gets free of the lake, if he sees this world on the cusp of disaster and knows he could strike and strike hard and make himself his master, as he once tried to do long ago. And then Aris says those are legends that predate our courts. So like, he knows these legends.

He's heard this before. Him and Cassian are the same age. It's going to be important later. Maybe in our mass first section. Sorry guys, but him and Cassian are the same age. So why does Eris know all this stuff that Cassian doesn't that I think we can assume Reese might not either. But maybe Reese does. But you know why does Eris know all this? I mean the high Lord education being thorough thing could be a reason.

It just kind of makes me mad at Reese honestly. I'm like. Share more people. Yeah, like share your information with your fucking general loser. So there's one more thing. There's two more things I want to talk about here. For whatever reason, Eris insists that Azriel go spy on Brie Allen in 1/4 Silver Flames. Right.

So the quote for that is Cassie. And cleansed his straw. So you're to be my ally whether I wish it or not. The brute understands. At last, Cassie and ignore the bar. Yes. What? You know I want to know. I will notify you of any movement on my father's part regarding Brie Allen. So send out your shadow singer and when he returns, find me. We just talked about how Eris seems to know that the three other Queens have scattered, right? And like it seems like he might have some kind of spy network, eyes and ears on the ground.

But he is insistent that Azriel go spy on Brie Allen. Why? Why does he not feel that he can get that information on his own? Or it does he want Azriel out of the way for some reason? I mean, that never really comes to fruition. So I don't know. But like, why is he? Why is he using the inner circle to get information when he seems to have plenty of ways to get information? The other thing I wanted to bring up here, are you thinking, do you have your thinking face on? The only thing I wanted to bring up here, and Ameren actually makes a great point about this.

Even if Eris kills Baron, he cannot or he should not be able to guarantee that he becomes high Lord, right? That is not how the magic works. That's we are told time and time again. That is not how. Someone's like I hope he ensures that it's passed on to him like well how the fuck is he this is that.

This is the quote. Your whole family is despicable, Aaron said to Lucian from where she and Nesta lingered in the hallway archway. But Eris may prove a better, better alternative if he can find a way to kill Baron off and make sure the power shifts to himself. How is Eris like? Eris says he wants the throne, but how is he able to guarantee that he'll get the throne?

Like, that's not what we've been told here. Eris knows a bunch of shit and Eris seems pretty determined that he can manipulate whatever this magic is to give himself the throne, right? I don't really know what's going on here. So I have small bullet points on ways that this could happen, but I don't really think any of them are what's really happening here.

So 1 secret de Madi, we talked about this. I don't really think this is a secret de Madi thing because he knows more than what a De Madi would know, right? The three Queens scattering. Like that's not really a de Madi thing. That's like a spy network thing. I don't think he's a secret, de Madi.

More in certain cases and less in other cases. Like if he were Damati, he Yeah, I don't think it works. Could he be a seer like Elaine? Right, so we've talked about this. Elaine really knows more about the present than the future, and she seems to be a pretty shitty seer. But maybe we have this seer power, right? Maybe Eris is a true seer and he's not shitty at it. He actually knows what to do with that. And that would explain how he knows so much. I don't know, seems like something that someone, maybe Lucian would have caught on to.

But so far, no third option. This is actually, I think maybe my most likely option, but I don't even really think it's that possible. He traps the Sir. He has a cereal, basically, he has a cereal trap somewhere, or he's working with the cereal the way Pharaoh was working with the cereal. The reason I think this one is plausible is because Lucian knew how to trap a cereal, right?

He knew a way to trap Serial wasn't a great way to do it, but if he knew, can we assume that Eris is the one who kind of taught him how to do that? And Eris has just had his own little serial friend helping him out throughout this entire series? I don't know, I don't know. Those are my three options for Akatar.

I mean, this is the only yeah, I mean, I'm, I'm thinking in Akator only guardrails. I mean, the only other thing that I could think of is, is this part of why he is so bent on this alliance with Kier in the Court of Nightmares is for artifacts like the Veritas Orb and like some of the other stuff that Kier has access to in that trove that seems to like the aura Boris. Not specifically the aura Boris, but like there seems to be stuff down there that just tells us things. Yeah, and Keir's family or has powers, the truth power. Yeah, that's really intriguing.

However, yes, I think that makes sense why he's seeking the Alliance. But the Alliance fell through for the past 500 years, right. So like. He hasn't had it. So how he how he knows everything he seems to know. Yeah, I don't know. What answers did I actually have? Did I have any answers? The I was like, did his hounds find Azrael? That's all I Yeah, the hounds, maybe these these hounds follow sense, allegedly, but like, they're so protected. They're not sold outside of the Autumn Court and nobody else is allowed to have them.

Like, what else are they capable of? Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. At one point, their references, they're called smoke hounds. Smoke hounds? Yeah, right. What does that mean? Where did that come from? What? Is the smoke? Yeah. I don't know. Harris has 12, so don't know, don't know how Eris knows everything. He seems to know.

He seems to know quite a lot. We still know the. Last bullet of my notes for this section are Do I have a point here? Question mark? I don't think I do. I know. Yes, it's good to talk about all the things that he seems to know that he shouldn't know. To our accurate only listeners, we apologize. This is as far as we could take this at this point. Read the Maspers.

All right. And with that, we are heading into our Mass First section. So if you have not read the entirety of Crescent City or Throne of Glass, we suggest you leave now because we will start talking about them at the end of this sentence and we love you. Bye. All right, we obviously had to have a How does Eris know everything? He knows Mass 1st Edition version of this question as well because there is something.

Holy shit this is probably my longest notes for this. I mean, this is like this is where we have maybe answers, OK. I'll just set the context. I think the biggest thing that he knows within the Mass first that we can't talk about in ACOTAR, which we've talked about, which we've brought up many times but not actually talked about, is that he knows that the prison was a palace, which is why the day Mahdi thing does not work. No one knows that.

This is not a mind reading thing, right? Like no one knows that. So the quote for that is the context for this is Nesta and Cassian have been summoned to the middle to talk to Eris, and Nesta is seeing the sacred mountain for the first time. The quote is, Have you never seen it, Eris? This asked by way of greeting, tracking her stare. No, she looked away from the unnerving peak. Why is it sacred to you?

Air shrugged, and Nesta New Cassian monitored his every breath. There are three of them, you know, Sister Peaks. This one the mountain called the Prison, and the one Elyrian Bruce call Rami call Ramiel, all bald, barren mountains at odds with those around them. We don't know why they exist, but do you not find it strange that two out of the three have underground palaces carved into them? I'd hardly call the prison a palace. Cassian cut in.

Just ask the inmates. And then of course, we find out from Celine that the prison was a palace, right? I don't know how Iris knows this. A couple interesting things to unpack here. He knows or notices the barren mountain pattern, right? Which is something Masters theorists have also noticed. We're not going to get into that today because I think that's a bigger discussion. And we might do a Ramiel or at least a Night Court episode at some point.

I don't know, but these bald mountains do seem to be tied to the Esteri slash Daglin. The quotes for us knowing that the prison was a palace, the quotes from Celine are. My father became high King, my mother his queen. Yet this island on which you stand to this place, My mother claimed it for herself. The very island where she had once served as a slave became her domain, her sanctuary.

The Daglin female who'd ruled it before her had chosen it for his natural defensive location, the mist that kept it veiled from others. So too did my mother nest a murmur to Azrael. The prison was once a royal territory. So we have a royal territory. And Bryce later describes the the prison as a palace carved into the mountain. Celine walking away from the Harp and through the empty beautiful halls of a palace carved into a mountain. The mountain, this mountain.

So the prison was an Esteri palace that Vesperus ruled from that Thea was enslaved to that Celine later turned into the prison by trapping all these horrible monsters inside to cover up, I guess to cover up Vesperus, but she didn't know about Vesperus. But basically to cover up all the horrible things that had happened.

Two things here. Celine literally erased the palace from the minds of everyone, right? We talked about this and she made it a prison as we just talked about South. The quotes for that is I carve these tunnel, the path, these tunnels, the path here. So some record might exist of what we were, what we did, but first I had to erase all of it from recent memory.

We've talked about this quote. We think she means this literally because Reese did this to all of the members of the Night Court under the Mountain, right? So we know that this is something that Reese Reese can do. He erased Valeris from the minds of the Night Court under the mountain. So we think she literally erased the palace from the minds of anyone who knew about it within, let's say, Night Court.

I don't know anyone who knew about it, basically. And then we talked about this quote. Celine walking away from the harp and through the empty, beautiful halls of a palace carved into the mountain. This mountain, our home, had been left empty since we vanished. As if the other faith thought it cursed. So I made it truly cursed, damned at all. And the evil of the creatures in the prison covers up that it was once a palace.

So this is literally erased from memory. It is literally filled with evil creatures to cover up what it once was. How does Errors know that this that the that the prison was a palace? Do you want to get into that? Yeah, I mean, I don't know if I have any definitive answers for this, but I'll take a whack at it. I really only have one one thought here. And it's it's that in House of Flame and Shadow, Celine says that her knowledge of kind of the Daglin and the other worlds. And really this story was supposed to be passed on, passed down verbally, air to air down her line. And when asked, Azrael says that Reese doesn't know and that somewhere along the line it was forgotten. So it was not intended for

everybody on in the universe to forget this that was supposed to be remembered specifically by Celine's line and to be passed down. So could it have been somehow stolen by the Autumn Line somewhere along the way or just not passed down by Reese's father or somebody before him and somebody from the Autumn Court line knew it.

We know that the two courts seemingly in play in Crescent City, like the the, the Eval and Faye and the Valbar and Faye seem to be parallels to Night Court and Autumn Court. Whether they're the exact say remains to be seen. But like heavy, heavy, heavy parallels, heavy illusions. So and we know that those two lines crossed at some point long ago. And so could that knowledge that was meant to be passed down. Like we know that it got lost.

We know that it dropped off somewhere. Why did it drop off? And like what were the circumstances surrounding it dropping off? Who decided not to keep passing it down? And did it get caught on the wrong side? Did it get caught in a different line? And is that why Eris knows it? And does that also mean that Baron knows it? This is so dumb, now that I think about it, that this hadn't occurred to me, that it's not only that Eris knows about it, but that the only other courts, and I'm saying court in quotes here because they hadn't, they weren't courts yet was the only auto court, was the only other one that went to Midgard, right With.

And that's such a good point, right? So like, they might have their own records of what was happening at this time too, which could explain it. But Lucian doesn't know. Baron doesn't seem to know. I just feel like if Baron knew he would be out here making a lot more threats, you know, being much more active.

But I could be wrong. Maybe. I mean, Baron seems, I know he's not being aggressive about it, but he is the most difficult, yeah, of everybody and seems to be operating with the most swagger and like he's pulling about a bunch of weight that he doesn't really seem to have, considering Reese's clearly so much more powerful than everybody else. Yeah, it could be.

It could be We just haven't gotten any clues from him that he has this knowledge, whereas we're getting these clues from Eris, right? Yeah, we just don't. Spend much time with Aaron, but I agree with thank God and thank God for that. So that's my only, my only thought really is like, we know that there was an intent to preserve some, like some of this knowledge within a very specific subset. And Night Court and Autumn Court are the ones that knew at one point everything that transpired and the ones that are over in Midgard.

So could it have, could it have either been stolen or you make a great point, like could they have just known and Night Court was the one that forgot? Yeah, possibly. I have a couple other things here. So the only place we know for certain that this information exists is in Celine's hologram in the harp chamber in the prison. There are two ways to access that chamber. 1 is through the front door which I don't think Eris has gone through, and the other is by being Starborn, opening the secret back door and then also being Celine's descendant and watching the video.

Video. The video, The Ted Talker, the projector, don't, if that is what we're being set up for, that would be pretty wild that Eris is secretly also a descendant of Celine and Thea and then therefore also Starborn. Like it's possible, right? This was 15,000 years ago. Obviously there's going to be a lot of descendants at this point, but we haven't seen that from Eris. But just something to keep in mind. The other thing I had here is that it is possible that Eris knows about hell.

And the reason I'm saying that is because when Eris shows up in the Hewn city, we talked about this, he's not only seeking an alliance with Reese but also with Kiir. And the quote for that is you once wanted to build ties to Autumn Kiir said Reese setting down his goblet of wine. Well, here's your chance. Eris is willing to offer you a formal alliance in exchange for your services in this war.

And then later Reese says promise Kiir nothing you care about. Reset waving hand in dismissal. So like he's working on some bargain with Kier and with the Human City and my question is why? But this is the same chapter where Kier mentions Lord Santos and he says it in front of Eris and Eris doesn't even bat not right. If is Eris seeking an out an alliance with Kier specifically because he knows that hell is somehow involved with the human city.

I don't know. We have one fucking name to go off of here and absolutely nothing else. But like, Eris was in the room when Thanatos was name dropped. I think you and I have the same precog. I'm just going to put that out there right now. Precog, it's my. It's got to do it for the next. Episode. We can do it in the next one too. I have it in the next episode, we'll see. Oh, the next episode.

Yeah. OK, then maybe it's different. Maybe it's different. I mean, I don't know. I don't know if we're talking about the same thing. We'll find out. All right. But I don't think that Eris is a Prince of hell, if that's where you're going. I do think Eris is the Prince of Hell. You do. I think he might. I totally think he might be.

We'll get into it. Next question. OK, But it's my precog, so I'm willing to say it's, you know, maybe. I'm down for it. Like if that's the way the story goes, throw in another Prince of Hell. They always end up great. But I think he's a true Prince of hell. I think he's one of the missing Princess of Hell, is what I think. Would love.

That's what I think. We'll get into it in the next question, though. Cool. Love it. I'm not done with this one though. Can we keep going? Keep going. OK, great. So we talked about Eris seeming to know that Lucian is not son. This one, I don't think it's going to be shocking to anybody if I feel like it's all over the Internet.

But Eris has this pack of hounds. They have a magic of their own. His Insignia is this is the two bang hounds. So just to refresh everybody on the pack of hounds, because I don't think we read any quotes about about it. This is this is I think in Cassian's chapter. Those hounds were the best in Prithian canines, blessed with magic of their own, Gray and sleek like smoke. So I guess that's where the smoke comes from. They could race fast as the winds sniff out any prey. They were so highly prized that the Autumn Court forbade them from being given or sold beyond its borders, and so expensive that only its nobility owned them. And they were bred rarely enough that even one was extremely difficult to come by.

Heiress Cassian knew had 12 and then later in the passage it says his hounds detected strange sense at the site of the abduction, ones that seemed human but were odd somehow. And later in the story Eris is explaining that the hounds confirm that the sense of the scene are the same as those on the gifts Brie Allen sent to Curry my father's favor.

So they can smell very specific sense and in certain situations, Eris also does this, also has the same seemingly gifts as his hounds. So in Crescent City, we of course have the concept of bloodhounds, which are magical beings who have the ability to detect bloodlines by scent. Danica Fender was a Bloodhound, as was her father Mordock.

So maybe his hounds or bloodhounds. Maybe Heiress is a Bloodhound and that's how he's able to tell quite easily without Baron confessing or anybody else confessing that Lucian is not his father's. Is not his father's son. Yeah, I think he's. I think Eris is a Bloodhound for sure. Yeah. Which would imply that if Farrah is also a Bloodhound, that she got it from Barron.

Yeah. Yeah, that could work if it's genetic. I'm not sure that that one is genetic, or I'm sorry if that's not genetic. Murdoch is a Bloodhound and Danica is a Bloodhound. Yeah. So it would seem like it, these gifts, we keep being told that gifts are not genetic. And then parents and their children.

Keep having the gifts. I know we're going to have to talk about it in the next episode. It's. Very good to talk about it in the next episode. It's like the high Lord power just chooses and then it's just like all. Bloodlines. So right. It's like right, right. Yeah. And then yeah, the last thing I think we already talked about, but like, does Eris have some network or power up his sleeve that we don't understand yet? Like how to see?

How does he know these other things that you know that seemingly only Azrael with his shadows would know? Is it the dogs? Is it something else? Is does he have shadows? Like who is right? Does he have shadows? I mean, Rune's shadows are a secret, right? Or no? Rune's mind speaking is a secret, not Rune's day.

Mahdi skills are a secret. I think shadows would be pretty hard to hide, especially if you have flames and Azrael hands his ass to him. So it was just one of the best scenes honestly. Like don't I am Helion when he's like my new fantasy at night is you handing Eris's ass. Oh Helion, love you so much. I love him so much.

All right? That's really all I had for that one. Eris. You know things and you know things. You are probably a Bloodhound. And you probably also have knowledge from the Exodus because you, your lineage was part of the Exodus. He knows. Shit. He drinks and he knows. Thanks. Actually, I've never seen him drink. He drinks and he knows.

Thanks. I don't know if he drinks. Yeah. OK. Abby, why does Heiress hesitate to call his brothers? His brothers All right. It's a big could be something, could be nothing question. Could be something, could be nothing. You know how I love those? However, I thought this was so interesting and we've actually already read this quote, but he pauses before talking about his brothers in the Ronnie read this quote, but heiress's pale face flushed. I was given an order and sent to do it with two of my dot dot dot brothers is the quote.

We have a dot dot dot brothers. We have a hesitation. We have a pause. Could be because he want meant to say like bodyguards or something Like maybe he's meaning kind of what you were implying before that he's feels trapped. She feels imprisoned by his brothers or they're not his brothers. You mentioned this before. I'm actually going to get into the weirdness about the heiress timeline.

All right? And this has been all over TikTok. I think Sid Kidd, shout out to Sid Kidd again from our Discord brought this to my attention. I didn't say anything at the time because I was kind of like, holy shit. So again, this could be a huge oopsie. Could not be an oopsie at all. So it's like she's six or something.

No, no, he's like, he's like 10 basically. So Baron and the late, what we know is Baron and the lady of the Autumn Court were married when she was 20, about 20 years before the war started. So the quote for that is she was still young, though she'd been married to that delightful male for nearly 20 decades. Sorry, nearly two decades.

Married too young. The marriage to Range when she was 20, so she's about 40 when the war starts. During the war, when her sisters died, she had been married to Baron for nearly two decades. Sorry, I just said that she got married at 20. Let's say she's between 37 and 40 years old during the war. Reese and more are about 530 years old, so they are about 30 during the war.

We know that the wall went up, the war happened 500 years before the events of Aqatar, and this is the timeline for how we know that Reese is about 530. And Aqamath. Stay with me guys. Sorry this one's confusing. And Aqamath. Reese said he began his Illyrian training at the age of 8 and that his training lasted until the war broke out 20 years later, right?

So that makes him 28 when the war breaks out. And that was 500 years ago. So now Reese is between 5 or 28530. This these events take place over a year or two. Reese also says that he and more are the same age. So the quote for that is for someone who is the same age as me. Reese drawled. You seem to forget dot, dot dot.

That's in Mist and Fury. Moorer says she got engaged to heiress when she was 17 or 18. So the quote for that is then I began bleeding a few days after I turned 17. And in that moment, my first blood came. My power awoke in full force. And even that God's damn mountain and trembled around us. But instead of being horrified, every single ruling member in the Hewn City saw me as a prize mayor, saw that power and wanted it bred into their bloodline over and over and over. So we can assume this happened pretty quickly after she turned 17, which is 10 years, right?

If Moore and and Reese are the same age, if the war started when Reese was 28, we're about 10 to 11 years before the start of the war. Which means we are only 10 years after High Lady of the Autumn Court and Baron have gotten married. Which means Eris cannot be older than 10. If he was not born out of wedlock, which I do not, I don't think he was so either they were either. All this went down when Eris was 10. I don't think he was because I think something else is going on here.

I don't think we'd have two sons of different fathers. I agree with you. Right. So either Eris was 10 when he when this patrol that happened, or this was an oopsie. That's the most likely answer. Like 100%. Here I am admitting that this is almost certainly an oopsie. Yeah, however, we have another figure in this universe who just appeared and ripped into the minds of everyone and convinced them that she was a missing sibling and had been a missing sibling forever.

And that person is Maif, right? And I am wondering, and now you guys already know where I'm going with this because I spoiled it in the last question, but I'm wondering if Eris has done that as well. If this math doesn't line up because it's not real math, because Eris just fucking appeared one day and basically ripped into everyone's mind and said, hey, I am the son of the high Lord of the oldest son of the high Lord of the Autumn Court.

Here I am. This is my story. You know me. And that would also like explain kind of his weirdness about why he's like, I'm definitely the heir, right? The magic is going to choose me. We're going to overthrow Baron and I'm going to be the heir of the Autumn Court. Yeah, it's interesting. I just talk about the Prince of Hell thing now, I mean.

Yeah, I mean, I like does are you positioning this in tandem with the, I know the Reese Val King thing was off the cuff, but like, does this work with it or, or is it like Eris is the Val King the Prince of Hell? I'm not necessarily let's put that Val king thing to the side for OK, and let's even put let's even put that Val game Princess of Hell are the same aside because I don't just get matters for this right.

So he just showed up and said I am Eris. What we have, what we have in Crescent City is 3 Princess of Hell out of seven, and we have 4 that are missing, right? We have 4 that we don't know what they are. The con, the quote we have for that is Ada saying in House of Flame and Shadow, our four brothers are currently engaged in other conflicts, helping other worlds.

And then Bryce says, I didn't realize you guys were like intergalactic saviors, right? So I think that is setting us up for certainly that someone we know is a disguised Prince of hell, right? Eris has his his fingers involved in a lot of pots, right? So he gets Nesta in the inner circle involved with the trove.

His meddling is what leads to them finding the trove, right? Like if his men hadn't been captured, they would not have found the trove. He says he knows nothing about the trove, but then he starts basically making suggestions about what it might be doing. So the quote for that is when Cassian asked him if Baron knows about the trove, he says no.

Think the mother era said crossing his arms. He would have told me if he did. But if the Trove has a sentience like you suggested, if it wants to be found, I fear that it might also be reaching out to others as well, not just Brie Allen and Kostick, right. So he goes from I've never heard about the Trove to, you know, if the Trove has sentience, it might be reaching out to other people.

Like I'm calling some bullshit on that. Eris he? Definitely knows, yeah, he definitely knows things about the trove. Yes, his his biggest physical descriptors. What we are told about over and over again with Eris is that he is pale and that he has long slender hands. Like, I was shocked how much that actually came up when I was doing the prep for this. When we meet Atis, the quote is.

Atis slid his slender hands into the pockets of his closely tailored jacket and pants, the material blacker than the chasm in which he resided. Slender hands, extremely tailored clothing. Like that's very Aris coated in my mind. And Reese, Yeah. So I and Reese, so I actually think we're talking about Reese being a descendant, right? I actually think Eris might be kind of in disguise here as a missing Prince of hell to kind of like steer our characters on to the right into the right battle, basically, right, to get them geared up.

Like he's not overtly out here like Atis, like, hey, I'm a Prince of hell. Listen to me. Because hell has not been revealed to Prithean the way it's been revealed to Midgard, right? Midgard knows about hell, but Prithean doesn't. Human city very hell coded, but he's trying to get in with the human city. I mean the reason why this doesn't work is because his power is fire and we know that the Princess of hell like aren't into fire.

So like, that might be a nail in the coffin right there. And the shadows. Yeah, but he knows so many things he shouldn't know. Yeah, and his timeline doesn't work. Yeah, I like the idea. I need to sit with it to think like to think about how it fits, but I do. That's why I put a precog. Yeah, I have AI have a precog that is also themed in like is Eris a domino effect, like river guide sort of character in this story? And I agree with you that that is that seems to be his like the the mechanism that his character is meant to play. So that's interesting.

And I do think the like the pause before he says brothers is telling, like he means he clearly means something by it, whether he just doesn't think of them as family or whether they were just like actually not his family. And he does appear out of RIP in the world. So. He appears out of a RIP in the world. World Walker is not an uncommon theory, so to put more meat behind it is also not not surprising, yeah. I mean I did not dive deep into this one because I put in pre cog because it is pretty out there. But like he appears out of the RIP in the world. His timeline doesn't add up.

He knows all these things. He seems certain that the high Lord power will pass to him. What he actually says, the actual wording of the bargain is that the inner circle will help him get the throne. What's thrown, right, because like the, like the high Lord of Autumn is a high Lord. He's not a king, right. So like, yeah, what throne are we talking about here? Yeah, that's my thinking that he might actually just be a a much more powerful, much more all knowing character than we have been led to believe thus far.

And he is twisting the tides of fate, so to speak, spinning that wheel. Yeah. I like it. I think it's fun. I don't know if I'm going to hinge like every other theory that I have on Eris on it, but I think it would be, I'd be very down for that to turn out to be the case, yeah. I mean, there are certainly reasons why it doesn't work.

All right, Ronnie, why does Reese insist on giving Eris Nesta's maid dagger? OK so this is this is a maybe something maybe nothing because might have read way too deep into this. I will say, I think several months ago, I saw a TikTok video with a theory about this at like at 12:30 AM as I was falling asleep.

And I was like, I'm going to come back to this. I'm going to remember this. And I remembered like bits and pieces of it. And so I obviously like just when I totally like, just actually did research to figure out what I thought here. But I don't really know what I did here. So just bear with me, OK?

Why does Reese insist on giving Earth Nesta's made made dagger? So Reese gifts heiress the dagger that Nesta accidentally made, right? So Nesta is taken to the blacksmith by Cassian. It's very sweet moment. He's like, I want to show Nesta how weapons are made. She like tries her hand out some stuff and then she accidentally makes her own trove as one does. And there is a dagger, there's a sword, and then there's a bigger sword basically.

And Reese and Farah gift the dagger to Eris, and Eris kind of recognizes its power. So the quote from Silver Flames is? Eris lifted his brows, flipping open the carved lid. He stiffened, voice going low. What is this, a present? Reese said, and Cassian caught a glimpse of a familiar hilt in the box.

The dagger Nesta had made Cassian refrain from whirling on Reese and Farah, demanding to know what the hell they were thinking. Eris sucked in a breath. Pharah said. You can sense its power. There's flame in it. Arah said, not touching the dagger as if his own magic warrant him. He shut the lid, face slightly pale.

Why give this to me, your ally? Pharah said, a hand resting on her belly. You face enemies that exist outside of the usual rules of magic. It seemed only fair to give you a weapon that operates outside those rules too. This is truly made then Cassian braced himself for the truth, the damning, dangerous truth to be revealed about Nesta. But reset for my personal collection. A family heirloom.

You possessed a made item and kept it hidden all these years during the war. Don't take our generosity for granted, Fair. Warned Eris quiling. Eris stilled but nodded. He extended the box back to Reese. I'll leave it in your keeping while I dance. Then he added with what Cassian could have sworn with sincerity. Thank you.

So, Reese gifts, this is a really interesting scene and action. Right? Because we don't have recent Pharaohs kind of scheming behind it the way that we used to have their scheming, right? So we used to know why they were doing certain things. And in this scene and in this action, we just have Cassian and Nesta kind of observing Cassian specifically in the scene. 1 core hypothesized purpose of these made items, or use of these made items so far, is that they will grant immunity to the holders from the Dread Trove. So in a Court of Silver Flames Chapter 62, Cassian says we'll see the portrait of unruffled calm. Nesta nearly snickered as he nodded toward the dagger at Eris's side.

We have our own ways to protect ourselves against the crown. Esta hid her surprise, the weapon she made shielded against the trove. No one had told her such a thing. And up in a court of silver flames after 64, after Eris's captured, which we'll get to, Phara said hopefully. Maybe the maid dagger we gave him will grant him immunity from the crown.

He's carrying the dagger. If they haven't unarmed him, it might shield him against another mate object, but we don't know that, Reese countered. So basically Sergey Mass is telling us through the quotes of these characters that they think that the holders of these made objects will become immune to other made objects. Basically the rest of the their actual trove, the Dread trove, if they are holding these made objects. So that could be a reason that Reese gave this dagger to Eris. Since he's our ally, we want to protect him. This clearly doesn't fucking pan out right because Eris ended up in Brielle.

I know in Briellens and the crowns thrall after all. Okay so he ended up under Briellens influence and the dagger was still on him. We think one and one other interesting thing before we get into like the capture and all of that. The maid dagger and Nesta's trove in general when it's first brought by the blacksmith is like exuding this power and no one wants to touch it.

Like nobody Cassian, Asriel, Reese like Reese only touches it with his power and even his power like it doesn't really want to be touched. Eris is just like no problem, like takes the gift is like okay, like he recognizes its power, but later when we see him, it's like on his hill, like he just took the dagger. So it's interesting that Eris seems to just have taken this made dagger that not even Reese touched, okay, and seems to have just had no problem wielding it in some capacity. Or at least we never heard that he had a problem wielding it. We never actually see him use it. OK, so that's interesting.

Let's put a pin in that and step aside. Can I ask a question real quick on that? Because you're so right and I didn't think about it at all. Was it just the unsheathing of the daggers that were the problem, or was it even being around? Yeah, I have the quote. Hold on. So the unsheathing is like unpleasant, like the quote is.

It did not go easily, as if the sword did not wish to be revealed. But then, when it is, the hair on Cassian's body rose. Reese inhaled, rallying his magic, then floated and unsheathed the other sword in the dagger. They did not spark with raw power, but Cassian could feel them. The dagger radiated cold, it's blade gleaming so bright it looked like an ice bicycle in the sun.

The second sword seemed hot, angry and willful. None of them dared touch it. Something deep and primal with Cat within Cassie, and warned him not to, that to be impaled or sliced by that blade would be no ordinary wound. Yeah, so none of them want to touch it. And armor was. Like, unpleasant for sure.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Armor's like don't touch them. And then she leaves and then they're like 5 year old boys and they're like, we're going to so. But Eris is just like cool. And so part of me wondered, too, when I first read it, before I went down this other path, whether Fair and Reese giving it to Eris was a test like can Eris.

Can he touch? Hold it. Yeah. But can he do this? Which he doesn't take it out of the case when it's there, but he does accept it. He's like, OK, And then he wears them, wears it on his belt. But later then they talk about how it's a protective mechanism and then then clearly doesn't work because he gets captured by Briellen.

So. So you might assume that they gave this dagger to Eris to protect their own secrets, right? In case Eris ever did get captured because they knew that Briellen had the crown. But that clearly did not pan out because Eris ended up in Briellen's and the crown's thrall after all, and the dagger was still on him. And so the quotes for that.

This is an accord of Silver Flames Chapter 68. No, they hadn't needed a prison rag wagon, because riding atop a White Horse at the front of the party, side by side with a hunched small figure, was heiress. Stupid asshole. Cassian snarled. She snared him with the crown. No, as said quietly. Look at his left. He's still got the dagger at his side. If he was in her thrall, he'd have already handed it over. So possessing another made object does protect him against the crown.

Which meant traitor. Cassian spat. I don't know why I'm surprised. So in this quote, right, they're basically thinking, Oh no, they do have him in this thrall. But then they see the dagger and they're like, oh, he's actually just a fucking traitor fuck heiress basically. And then when they encounter him, they realize Cassian actually realizes when he says the Morgan, they're like, wait, heiress never fucking says that. And that quote is yes, yes, all that old business with the Morgan.

How boring of you to cling to it. So, which is like very weird and old English to say in general. Cassian blinked. The Morgan. Aris never referred to her like that. Let him go, Brielle and Cassie and Growl Come play with us instead. The made dagger slid away from his ribs, and a withered, reedy voice said from nearby.

I'm already playing with you, Lord of Bastards. So Aris is in Brielle's for All, is in the Crown's for All at this moment, and supposedly has this made dagger on him. However, as all of this is happening, there was a knife and other weapons in the blood, right? And it wasn't really supposed to be there.

I don't know if this is where you went, but this is where I went. I don't know if it's true. I don't know if it works. I'm just going to go here, OK? It might be fucking crazy town, OK? There's, we're talking about the blood, right? That at the same time that this is happening, that's happening, Emory has been kidnapped and thrown into it, right?

As the blood right is happening, so there was a knife and other weapons in the blood right and I'm going to to talk through the series of events as they occur. So Nesta gets captured, Nesta wakes up, Nesta sees the knife specifically immediately, and no other weapons insights insight. And the quote for that is impossible. Having weapons in the blood right went against its rules. Had the male known it would be there? Or had he just spied it before she had? It didn't matter.

It only mattered that the knife existed and it was the sole weapon insight. She could run, let him lunge at the knife and flee in the opposite direction and pray he didn't follow. Or she could go for the blade, beat him to it. And then she didn't know what she do then. But she stood in a field of sleeping warriors who would all soon awaken, and if they found her weaponless, defenseless, Nestor ran.

And then the passage for how she actually got the knife is really long, so I'll paraphrase it. But in A Cord of Silver Flames, chapter 64, her hand brushes the knife. She is tackled to the ground by another warrior in the right, and they are tumbling. At no point does she definitively close her hand on the dagger.

And then suddenly, at one point, the knife is both in her hand and in the warrior's throat, almost as if it just came to summoned there. And Brie Allen later in the right says about Nesta, you can summon it. The objects will answer to you no matter the words on them, and you will hand them over to me. So Nesta tucks this knife into her belt when she gets it. And then right after Nesta finds the knife in the right is when we learn that Eris was captured by Brie Allen. Like that's the sequence of events and that Cassie and Nasrill have to go safe in which Cassian is justifiably very fisted out.

And they're literally brings up that the knife should protect him. And Reese is like, we can't be sure of that. So throughout the right, this knife saves Nest a whole bunch of times, right? She uses the knife to stab a warrior in the groin. And that's to get this knife on her for days, right, Basically for the entire right, killing other warriors who attacked them with it. We find out later, right, Brie Allen takes credit for planting all these weapons, and right, she's like, I think it would be more fun.

And then Eris attacks Cassian with what we think is Nesta's blade. But Sarah, in my opinion, at that point, gives us a tip that it might not be hers. She says whether it was Eris's power through the blade or whatever Nesta had made into it, he didn't care. So I don't know, like this seems like a weird thing, this whole like having a made object protecting you from other made objects. It seems like a really weird thing to like, really really believe true and then have it just not be true at all, and have that made objects go totally unnoticed by Brie Allen and by Coche unless it was true and Eris just did not have it on him.

And Eris in that case could have just known what was happening, somehow winnowed into wherever the right was, planted it, hoping that Nesta would find it and then win or no. Yeah, that's not where I went, but I think I think you are totally right and I totally agree with you that if that made dagger was on heiress and if he was under the influence of the crown, either way, really there's no way that Brie Allen did not know, right? Because we have the same thing happen. We have this happen with Nesta and Bryce, right? When Bryce shows up in Prythean, Nesta knows that the Star Sword is made immediately.

The quote for that is the female said quietly to the others, voice flat, almost sword. I told you earlier there's something made on her beyond that sword she carried. So Nesta immediately clocks that the sword is made and that the horn is on Bryce's back, right? So there's no way, and Brie Allen is there. Brie Allen winnows out at the end with Cassian, right? So there's no way if that knife is there, Brie Allen does not know that it's there.

Yeah. So whether it's in the right or not, like it's not on Eris. Well, my mind went in one of two directions, right? Like either what you said that like that knife is not there or Eris is Prince of hell and he could actually control reality. That's the other option here. I don't know, but it doesn't work the way it's written right?

Like it doesn't. If Eris is under the thrall of the crown and he has the knife on him, then there's no way that Brie Allen doesn't know following the logic of this universe. And I like what you said about the knife coming to jumping into Nesta's hand, because we also I'm pretty sure we see that happen with Bryce and the star sword under under the prison. Like I'm pretty sure at one point she just reaches out and the star sword comes to her and maybe the dagger too. I don't remember exactly, but I think we I've seen that. Happen before she like summons it into her hand. Yeah, yeah.

So basically you think Eris knew the blood right was going to happen and planted the dagger for Nesta to find I. Think Eris might care about Nesta? And I know nobody wants to hear that, but I'm saying it. I mean, he wanted to marry her. Yeah, but doesn't this also fit into the Prince of Hell theory that he's like, sure, not planting all these little seeds to make sure that things happen the way they're supposed? To well, yeah, yeah, exactly.

I think like yes, or at minimum like some sort of seer abilities, yeah. Yeah, I think he knows something. Yeah. I I guess my only open question is if Eris was actually under the thrall of the crown at all or if he was just faking it. Yeah. Because, again, think about the series of events here, right? Bri Allen said that what Eris did she like lured Eris by exposing some of his his soldiers and Eris went to them instead of running away from them, knowing that they were under the thrall of the crown.

And she was like, what an idiot. Of course I was going to capture him, right? But Eris being captured is what led to Nesta coming into her full power and also defeating Brie Allen and claiming the crown for herself, right? So if you are a puppet master who's trying to make sure that Nesta ends up in control of the trove, perhaps to defeat the Esteri, which we are pretty sure are coming back to Prythian, then you're laying the groundwork for this, right?

Like it's all these series of events or Nasta coming into her power that lead back to Eris. And this idea of the of the knife being planted fits in with that too. So. Yeah. I like it. I mean, it's wild, but I do like it. I also just don't. Yeah, that's one of those moments where I wish, I wish we knew what the original, like the original intent of recent failure was probably to try and protect their secrets that Eris knew, I'd assume. I thought race was maybe just using Eris's bait, like maybe he wanted to test this theory and see what happened. You know, like Will the maid.

Because if you think about it, it should work, right? Because we know that Hunt was protected from the crown and we think that Cassian was sorry Hunt was protected from the mask. And we think that Cassian was protected from the crown because they got sex made basically right. So in theory, if you have a made object on you, if you are imbued with this made power, and maybe it's not the same, maybe having a sword or dagger is not the same as taking it in to you. But we've seen it before.

We're made power protects from other Esteri power, basically, Right. So it would make sense that this is what would happen. So either the knife was not the knife or Eris was faking it. I think it is what it has to be. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. I don't have anything else on that one. I like that theory that he I like it. Now the more I think about it, it was so out of left field. But the more I think about it, the more I do like it. Yeah, I like, I like the thought that like randomly of all of the weapons, she had a knife and the knife was supposed to be saving Aris and it wasn't.

Yeah, yeah, cool. All right, Cool, precog. We already have my precog all right. Do you want to go? Do you want me to go? Well, I did mine, but I did have AI did have a random thought as you were talking because we were talking about Eris and his hounds potentially chatting with each other. We do have one person who can do this, talk to animals, and it's the Viper Queen. She talks to her serpents, right? That's how she knew that Emil was out in the marshes, if I'm remembering correctly.

I didn't prep this. This just came to me. So like that is an established power in this world. We don't know really what the Viper Queen is, have not gotten into that. I don't think she's a Prince of hell to be clear, but. She's something, though. It's an, It is. It is a possibility. It is a power. Yeah.

Interesting. And we get so much snake imagery with Eris. We do. Yeah. So. Yeah. All right. I like that. Two precogs for the price of one that wasn't even really a precog. It's just a connection. Yeah. Yeah, I really like if. If we find out Baron's bees form and it's not a hound, I'll eat my hat.

It's. Right. I don't know. OK, I took a page out of your book this week and decided to look into the meaning of Eris's name, which led to a couple interesting not like solidified precog theories, but just like things that we think might happen. So in Greek mythology, Eris is first of all a woman, like a goddess.

But that doesn't matter, it's 2025. Eris is the God of strife and discord. So heiress was and I think you'll like recognize parts of the story I'm about to tell. But what's crazy is that like you kind of forget that heiress is a part of this story, which I think is Barry Heiress like a Qatar Eris like so heiress was the daughter of Nyx. Interesting.

Who is the goddess of interesting? Interesting. We'll talk about that. Eris, her kind of claim to fame in Greek mythology, initiated this quarrel, this argument between the goddesses Hera, Athena and Aphrodite. You know, those gals, I'm sure, which was ultimately resolved by the judgement of Paris and led to the outbreak of the Trojan War.

So quick recap of what happened there. So all the gods were invited to the wedding of Peleus and Thetus, except for Eris. Peleus. Peleus Eus. Yeah, Peleus and Thetus. Except for Eris. No one likes not being invited. Icky feeling. So Eris shows up anyways bold and was not able to get into the wedding so she was pretty pissed off. So she threw a golden apple into the wedding and threw it into the wedding guests and inscribed the golden apple with for the fairest.

And each of those 3 goddesses Hera, Athena and Aphrodite all claimed it. We're like I'm the fairest of them all giving Snow White. Is this Snow White? That's yeah. Zeus then orders these three goddesses to go to Mount Ida to be judged by Paris, Prince of Troy, which is not very 2025 of him like oh let's go, let a mortal man. A fucking man fucking.

Orlando Bloom, You 3 and choose a fairest. But that's what happens. So Aphrodite basically bribes Paris and offers him Helen, so Paris chooses Aphrodite. The Trojan War then started because Helen was famously married at this time to Metalius who was the king of Sparta. So obviously this was never going to go over well.

Literally caused war and everyone kind of forgot that Eris started it, but she did. So interesting things we can take away from this one. Eris might be stewing something much more chaotic or steering us in a direction than what we've already seen with Brie Allen, right? He might be wittingly or on with unwittingly about to kick off a series of events that cause a conflict potentially related to his upcoming bid for the throne, but seems to be working on could be working on based on his namesake, a series of events that lead us down a path. And we might not even notice that he's the one who's putting these things into place if we don't look very, very carefully. 2 He might have more of a

connection to the night court than we could have imagined, seeing as heiress is the is the daughter of Nyx, who is the goddess of night. And maybe that's the reason for we talked about autumn potentially like autumn autumn in Midgard has crossed with a volun. Has that happened ever in Prythian?

Like is that the reason for like Baron looks like no one? Yeah, he's got brown fucking hair. Barry has brown hair and brown eyes, nobody else and Autumn Court nobility has that. Is that the reason for Barron's coloring? Maybe shittiness based on what we know about Reese's father? Like does Eris have more of a connection to the Night Court, either through lineage or otherwise then we thought? Don't know, but his namesake alludes to that being a real possibility.

A precog next episode is about Nick's, so I don't know how much I want to get into it. I'll just leave it there. I'll just leave it there. I think that Nick's is a character we need to think a lot about. Like, a lot. Yeah, Yeah. What is this child going to be? Fair has the power of all 7 courts and every God knows what. High Lord, every high Lord.

Val Asteri, potentially starboard for sure. Every high Lord plus a heaping dose of whatever the fuck Reese has plus wings. Yeah, Knicks is going to be a huge fucking player. Got to be. I just don't know if we're going to get that story, but anyway, all right. You heard me. Add it to the note. Sergey Mass.

Are we getting Nix's story? Was that what the next? Is that what the next series will be? I mean, I hope so. I don't know. I think it's going to be a different world. My only other side when you brought the and I get this is just a connection, not a precog, but just our last Eris thought when you mentioned that Eris can handle the blade.

We know that Deanna's power is what is in the blade, right through Nesta because Nesta took Deanna's power through the cauldron. Deanna's power is in the blades. They glow with moonlight. Deanna has hounds. That's like traditionally she has hounds. OK, so like, is Eris also somehow connected to Deanna?

I don't know. I don't know. Perhaps, perhaps. I'm so curious what you did for next episode because my prep didn't touch on this. Well, I don't know, Like, it's not that crazy. Just Deanna has Deanna hunts. Deanna hunts. Hunts. Yeah, like spoiler, guys, next episode we're going to talk about how Deanna hunts and so do there. Yeah.

OK, All right. Earth loves the hunt. Do we want to do reading corner? Do we want to talk about brimstone? We don't have to too much about brimstone. Talk about spoiler free spoiler free spoiler free high level. Although if you're listening to this, you've probably read it. We're not going to assume that though spoiler free will be good stewards tour.

What do I want to say about this Butler? Now I'm thinking readers, what do you want to say about this book? You're rereading it I. I think I try to be, I try to be honest, both honest and fair about how I feel about books after I read them. And my honest and fair reaction to Brimstone, I thought a lot about this is that after I read is I tend to have like gut reactions to books and then I have reactions to books after I Stew on them for a while. And my gut reaction to Brimstone was what did I just three? But I've had that reaction to books before. And when I sat with them more, I appreciated them much more. And so that's why I told Abby this. I don't know whether anyone caught this at the beginning of the episode or whether we edited

out. So I'm just going to say it again. But I finished Brimstone and I I said OK and I turned right back to Page 1. It's like we're doing it again. And I will say will also say specifically for Cali Hart, I read Quicksilver the first time and did not appreciate it anywhere near enough as like compared to what I did on my reread.

So like, I won't lie, my my first reaction was like, what did I just read? But like I actually. Don't feel like I can properly react without sitting with it because it was so much information. Yeah, I agree with everything you said and I will reread it at some point. But I will tell you that what I did when I finished Brimstone is restarted Quicksilver because I was like, in theory she is laying laying these plot points out early. And I don't want to bash authors. We're only on book 2.

I don't know where she's going to take us in book 3. It's possible she could, she could take us somewhere really cool, but there's inconsistencies like immediately, it's immediately seems like she wasn't actually laying groundwork here. She was just kind of like making it up as she went along, which doesn't mean it's bad, but it felt a little like rushed. And I know she turned this book around really quickly and I know there was a lot of pressure on her and like, I don't want to. I still thought it was a really enjoyable book. I had a great time reading it.

It was super fun. It was a really fun book, but it didn't feel carefully plotted. I guess is is my critique of it at this point. But I am happy to go back and reread it. And like I've said before, like, you know, kind of the first time I read books, I'm just in it for the romance. But like, there wasn't even really much to grasp onto in that in that aspect either here.

Like there was no tension with. Ups and downs. Yeah, like, right. It wasn't. It was. Yeah. I don't know. So I struggled with it. I will reread it. Parts of it were super enjoyable, but I'd be lying if I sat here and was like, oh, yeah, I have to reread this book. I think I miss so much. Like I'm not feeling super compelled to do that.

Other than I felt like that ending was kind of like, what, what? What did I miss? But. But not in the way I felt with Onyx Storm, you know where I was like, I know if I go back and reread this, I will find the bread crumbs. I know that there was a path here. Yeah. That's not how I felt about Brimstone. With Brimstone, I kind of felt like, OK, she just made random decisions and I can't.

There's no way I could follow that. You know what I mean? Yeah. I also see a lot of people, like a lot of people who talk about books, talking about how much they loved it, like loved it. And I didn't get to that. Again, trying to be honest and fair, like I and I as a reader am somebody who like when I get when I get caught, I'm like caught like I, I'm losing sleep.

I just don't sleep. As Abby knows I was. I was not having any issue like putting this down, putting it away. I felt the same. Probably healthy, like it was probably good. That's probably how I should feel about most books, but I didn't. I wasn't like, Oh my gosh, I can't put this down right now. Right.

And I, I think that's because there was no mystery and there was also no tension, right? There was nothing. It was kind of a series of events that happened. And there was no like, I have to understand what's happening here. I have to get to the bottom of this, you know, like I need to know what the answer is, which is like very much what we get in the ACOTAR books, very much what we get in the Imperium books, right?

There's always some kind of like mystery. I guess we had that. I guess we did have that, but it was like. You know what, it felt like I'm kind of just piercing this together and maybe I'll disagree with myself later. I'm also totally down to disagree with myself after reread. 100 percent, 100%, totally down to disagree with myself later, but it felt like a book that could have been 3 and was edited down into one.

And all of the like, clues and tension and like build up between different events and like reveals was just cut down for some reason, Which might make sense because Cali Hart is quite prolific and writes a lot quickly. Yeah. I think, I don't want to spoil it. There's an event that happens and you're going to know what I'm talking about halfway through the book. That I think probably in a different series would have been the conclusion of the book that our main characters are not involved in at all.

It just happens to them passively. And then you're like, oh shit, everything has like everything is changed now, but we get like no insight, we get no follow up. It's like a very weird thing to do to a book and I felt like we didn't let that moment. This is just an example. This is not like the thing I that I'm like harping on, but it's like we didn't examine that event.

We didn't figure it out. We didn't like say, hey, why did why did this happen? Like it just it just felt very one thing to the next thing to the next thing to the next thing and not kind of like building towards something that I don't know. I don't again, I had fun reading it. I enjoyed it overall.

I think one of our discorders put it best. She said she finished the book, put it down and was like, huh. Like it wasn't like, Oh my God, what the fuck. You know, it was like, wait, what? Like what just happened? And I think for now, that's just how I feel about it too. Like I want to go back. I want to reread it, but I'm not feeling overtly compelled to do it, you know, like I'm not feeling like I have to get to the bottom of this the way I did with Onyx, which is what led to this podcast. You know, like, I think that's what how I feel about it right now.

And I don't want to. Writing a book is hard. I've never done it. I don't want to. I'm going to read the third one. I'm still going to. I'm still still going to read it. I still think Quicksilver is an excellent, excellent book. And I know sometimes second books are hard because you know where you are and you know where you want to go.
