These beasts seem linked to these Death Lords, meaning Reese at his core is somehow linked to these Death Lords too. We have. A direct connection not only between Reese and the Death Gods, but Reese and his beast forms in the Daglin's Wild Hunt. I'm tired. I know, I know, I know, I know. Me too. I can't really like lean. Oh, I can lean back.

OK, great. OK. I can lean against the wall. I'm in a new. Spot today. I don't know if you see this sometimes. This is totally off topic, not what I was planning about to talk about banter, but like, do you ever see those podcast clips of people podcasting from like their couches? And I'm like how the fuck do I get a couch set? Like, I just feel like that way, like they're literally covered in blankets.

An armchair. Yeah. The armchair setup actually, I think would be my final form. I'm pretty far away from that because I don't have anywhere near an armchair spot. Yeah. In this home, yeah. I, I, we're in the same boat. I mean, apartment living, it's kind of tough, but yeah, I mean, I have an armchair, but there's no like, it wouldn't work.

It wouldn't work. There's like no. Light over there. I think the issue actually I think the issue honestly I don't think this is unattainable. I think the issue is that we like we are a receipt based podcast and so we are looking at notes the entire time. Oh, that's true. I need the second like we could.

Set up a tripod anywhere but I need. I need the outline, I need the notes, I need the books. I need everything here. Yeah, so it might be right. You might be right. We're not just chatting, unfortunately, which is also part of the issue we've run into when we've tried to do like an in person podcast.

It's like, I don't even know how it would work at this point. Like even if we were in the same place, it would be tough, but. I know when I got a notification that our podcasting software now supports like in person separate microphones and I'm like, I don't know how this would how this would work. We'd both be sitting here in front of our laptops.

Could you imagine? I don't well, but Amy Poehler kind of does that. But I don't know, it'd be very weird. It'd be very weird. Maybe one picture sitting like like 2 news anchors, like at a desk with like maybe a poster behind us. Yeah, yeah. Maybe one day we'll do that. Maybe a dragon scale vest, maybe some magnifying glasses.

I don't know. Could be fun one day that. Would be fun. I saw Frankenstein last night in theaters. You did? I did. Was it good? OK, so I have to tell you, I think you know this about me. Up until this port at this point, my entire exposure to Jacob Alordi has been a shit you not only the trailer for Wuthering Heights, that has been my entire exposure to Jacob Alordi. That was euphoria.

I did not watch euphoria. I have not seen Saltburn. I have not seen anything that he's in except that trailer. And that trailer was enough for me to be like oh OK, I'm into this one. It's like good stay. He was so good. He was so fucking good and like. Yeah, I believe it. He's good. His game's for a reason. He's.

Fantastic. He's our hot Timothy Chalamet. OK, I've just been out there. I think Timothy Chalamet is cute. Yeah, Timothy Chalamet is cute, but like, he's not like 6-7, you know? He was amazing. He was so, so, so good. The rest of the movie was pretty good. The sets were amazing. Obviously. The costumes are amazing, like kind of classic what you get with Guillermo del Toro. But Oh my God, Jacob Lordy was just like out, out of this world good.

Like fucking magnificent was so good. It was like, it was great. And he? Played Doctor Frankenstein, I haven't seen anything. He, Jacob, already plays the monster, the creature. He plays the creature. OK Yeah. And Oscar Isaac plays Victor Frankenstein. OK. So good. So good. You should watch it.

And it's on Netflix. You don't have to go to theaters. Like, I just wanted to go to the theater. The theater because I like it. I could watch it in my own home, but you could watch. It in the comfort of your own home. Yeah, I would watch it tonight, but I'm actually going to see, you're going to laugh at this, but maybe you're not going to be surprised. I'm going to see Oedipus on Broadway. Oh, I don't even know what that is. I don't think many people know what it is. It is a Oedipus.

It's called Oedipus on Broadway. I'm not just seeing a presentation of Oedipus. That would be kind of crazy. Oedipus on Broadway is like a limited run. I'm assuming presentation of Oedipus in some format. I. Assume it's related to. I know very little about it. My friend had tickets. She was like, do you want to go? I was like, sure, great.

That sounds fun. So we're anyone. Big in it. Wait, is it a musical? That's a great question. These are all great questions. Give me one second. Love for them to turn the story of Oedipus. Into a musical summit. Mark Strong. Are you familiar with this person? I know who Mark Strong is. Yeah. Leslie Manville.

Are you familiar with this person? I know who Leslie Manville is. OK. It's created by Robert Ick after Sophocles. Sophocles obviously created the created the original Oedipus play. It's about election night. I really have no idea what I'm in for. As it turns out, I'm learning it all live. Which election night? Like a specific one or just?

The headline is election night. The polls predict a landslide victory. Everything is about to change. Apparently it won an award. I don't think it's a musical. I would say not probably. Yeah, I'm going to have to send this portion of the pod to to mod because I clearly as we try to piece together what the hell this musical is about.

Yeah, Anyways, I'm seeing that tonight. Well, that's so I can't watch Frankenstein on. TV Hi, I'm Abby, I'm Ronnie, and this is Dragons in the Details, where we pick apart your favorite fantasy series over the course of an undetermined number of episodes. I realized the other day that we are like, we have already done almost as many episodes for Acatar that we did for our first season. And we're I to feel like we just still have so much more to talk about.

We're just not even anywhere near done. Yeah. So truly an undetermined number of episodes. This is our second season. We are covering A Court of Thorns and Roses, also known as Acatar, which you guys probably know by now by Sarah. A mass disclaimer. These episodes will contain spoilers for the entire ACUTAR series.

That is all five books. We cover all the books. We don't focus on a specific section. So if you have not read all five books, go back, go home, come back later when you've read them all. We will announce any other mass for spoilers ahead of time and we keep them to the end of our episodes. So we break down our episode. We have an Acutar section.

We have a Mass first section. We haven't done this in a long time. I'm going to plug the mass first once again because I don't think we've plugged it in a while. Guys, you should read the Mass first. If you enjoy our podcast, if you enjoy deep dive spirals, if you enjoy theories, which is kind of what our podcast is about.

Your experience will only be enhanced by reading the Mass first. But if you haven't yet, that's OK. You know, you can ask your friends who have read the Mass first. We've got friends who listen to this podcast and listen to the Mass First section, the Acatar theories. We love them. We're great.

We love when we can really dive into Acatar. But the mass First section is where like the true spiraling murder letter board, etcetera happens. So that's our mass first plug. We'll keep it brief this week. Disclaimer, this podcast is rated R. Do not listen with your children or do whatever you want, but we're telling you that it's rated R.

We curse like sailors. These are spicy books. Each week we dive into a specific topic in death This week, and I'm a little nervous about it. We are focusing on the High Lord of the Night Court and the Illyrian baby himself. Resend. We come with receipts. We'll have quotes to back up any theory so you can follow along if you're skeptical.

Ronnie, do you want to do announcements? We have Deep dive music as always, brought to you by Schwodley SCHWOODLEY that is a real artist on Spotify. Check them out if you like our deep dive music. And this is a two-part podcast. So we are doing Part 1 right now. We're doing Reese Part 1. We will also be releasing a Reese Part 2.

So if we didn't get to what you thought we were going to get about in this part, we might not get to it, but also we might in next week's episode, so. You're not. Yeah. There's a lot to cover about Reese. There's a lot to cover about Reese. I'm going to refer to my previous Mass First plug. There's way more to talk about with Reese if you've read the Mass first, but if you haven't, we still have interesting things to talk about.

We kind of a loosely structured this kind of loosely divided these episodes into like Reese's powers and then like kind of Reese's motivations. And so that's kind of the loose structure, but I don't know that we're totally sticking to that and we can cut this part if it turns out it doesn't. That doesn't happen at all. The only other thing, you know, like comment, subscribe, tell your friends about us.

If you like us, it really helps out our podcast freaking Spotify. I don't like this Spotify literally pushed like a like a pop up to me when I logged into our account and it was like remind people to like, like comment and subscribe on Spotify. And I'm like Spotify. I feel like this probably benefits you more than it benefits me.

But OK, sure. So everyone, Spotify is asking you to play their game and like comment, subscribe on. Spotify comment and subscribe. If that's what you want to do, it helps us, but I'm sure it helps them more. Yeah. But that's OK. You could also like, comment and subscribe other places to be. Clear YouTube, YouTube, Amazon, even on Amazon.

Yeah. Wherever we're not going to, we're not going to tell you where you should like, comment and subscribe if you are willing to do it. If you are willing to do it, we are. Happy to receive it. Yeah, that's it. All right, Ronnie. Corrections, omissions, social media shout outs. Also known as cosms.

I have one at guitar Only Cosm that I thought was kind of fun. In our More episode, you brought up a theory, which I completely agree with, that More might be related to Strega the Weaver because the Uroboros mirror was originally Strega's and was said to be an heirloom of Moore's family. We know that More is related to Reese and Shriega had Reese's mother's rang and there's a whole bunch of seemingly family ties potentially going on and we had a commenter point out.

I thought this was really fun and a cheeky, cheeky little comment. We had a commenter point out that in Akka War, when Reese and Farah surprise each other with Striga and the Bone Carver, respectively, Reese says here's to family reunions. I thought that was really fun. I thought that Sarah J Maas could be having a lot of fun with that line. Even if most people were not having fun with that line, that could have been fun because if Reese is related to Striga, he's also related to the Bone Carver.

And yes, and then Reese, Shriega, the Bone, Carver and Moore were all in the same place at the same time, about to fight a war together against Ayburn. Yeah. Family reunion. Cute. I like that. If that theory hold. Cute. Yeah. If that theory holds, which who knows? Who knows what she'll do, but could be fun.

Who knows. I also had a cosm about Moore ironically, and this is from listener LMNOP on discord who again fucking hates more but she had a great I love it, a great omission. So her comment was after Feyre kills the wolf. Hold on I'm going to refer her her. Her comment was basically in the first war. Feyre says that someone betrayed the Fey in the war, that when the Fey and the humans were fighting, someone betrayed the Fey and told the humans that they were susceptible, that the Fey were susceptible to ash arrows. And Feyre tells us this basically in chapter 1 after she kills the wolf in the in the woods. She says knowledge of that weakness of their susceptibility to ash was the only reason we'd

ever survived against the High Fae during their ancient uprising, a secret betrayed by one of their own. LMNOP pointed out that Moore had an affair with the human queen during that war was more the one she betrayed the fae. I don't know if you really call it a betrayal of the fae, but was more the one who helped out the human Queens and said hey by the way this will kill us. I like that idea.

I like that idea a lot. I like that it comes from LMNOP who hates more and this is like kind of a pro more stance. I love it. I think it's great. I think it would be a really great connection if she decides to make it. That would be fun. That would be fun. All right, cool. Next section. I forgot about this question.

All right, I was trying to make it fun. I came up with the wildest answer. I don't even know if it exists. If Reece lived in our world, what kind of music do you think he'd listen to? I think he would listen to like old style rock, like I'm thinking like Axl Rose, like Guns and Roses, like Guns and Roses and like, if you had to pick an artist today, maybe like Greta Van Fleet style. Like I feel like he pictures himself fighting to like Hard Rock, not like the deep thrum bass that everybody pictures him fighting to.

That's what I picture in my head. It's so funny that you said Greta Van Fleet because literally one of like the first times Derek and I ever hung out, we were like listening to music and he literally is basically like, just so you know, I fucking hate Greta Van Fleet. And I was like, Oh no, OK, that's OK, fine.

That's fine. I don't really listen to them. OK, so Reese listens to Dad Rock because he is 500 years old. He's 500 years old, 100 years old. And he's, I feel like he maybe thinks he's classic. Maybe he's classic. I don't know. I also, is it dad rock? I don't know. I like that. All right, whatever.

Maybe I'm questioning my own taste in music. OK, What do you think? If Reese lived in our world, what kind of music would he listen to? All right. And again, I don't know if this exists. I said I feel like he would listen to like chamber ensemble versions of like. Hard rap like. Interesting. Again, I like. Bridgerton of hard rap.

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like Bridgerton, Jay-Z version, like stuff like that. Yeah, exactly. Kind of feel the same reason that you picked because he's like kind of old school, but like he still needs like pump up music, you know? Yeah, I do. Like, I feel like that would be more like electric strings sort of vibe. I could see it.

Yeah. Like I could see it like. Traditional instruments used in a nontraditional way. Yeah, this is gonna age me, but do you remember Raise Your Voice the movie? No, that's upsetting. It's possible that it just wasn't on my radar. If you remember, raise your voice, drop a comment so that I feel less alone. It's a movie about people at a music school, and there's an electric violinist, Hilary Duffs, in it. It's a whole thing, yeah.

Wait, was it a Disney Channel movie? I don't think it was a Disney Channel movie, but it had that vibe. It had that vibe. It didn't have that vibe. Like if you if you were in a Disney Channel movie era or maybe just coming out of it, because I think it was like a little bit older style. Like you, you were maybe a little bit aged out of Disney Channel movies and you were watching Raise Your Voice.

Maybe I do remember this movie. It was with John Corbett, the actor John. To be clear, we know a John Corbett in real life, which is confusing sometimes. No, but the actor John Corbett from Aiden. From Sex and the. City Aiden from sex and the city OK cool he was a music teacher in it maybe, maybe I.

Remember this? I don't know, maybe I'm thinking of the first step up. It's definitely not that. Because anyway, step up. She goes to she's at a the girl's at a performing arts school, right? I think she's at like, LaGuardia equivalent. Yeah. Anyway, that was a peak time for performing arts high schools in movies.

The early 2000s moving. I give me a movie about a performing arts school. I'm there. I'm there. Anyways, we don't know what kind of music Race listens to, but it's probably classic with an edge. He just listens to Sid Dear Arevo singing Defying Gravity on repeat. That's my answer. That's what I'm going.

I wouldn't blame him. I wouldn't blame him either. No notes. I just got so excited for Wicked. All right, shall we Deep? Down. OK, All right. Yes. Abby, what are Reese's powers? All right, again, obviously strap in. This is going to be like a fucking log. In it's a long list. I am still scrolling down my notes, just so you know. All right, so first of all, kind of most obvious, he's a De Madi. A lot of our explanations for what a De Madi is, we get through Farrah because we're in her POV and she also has this power too.

But basically what we can tell that a De Madi is, is he reads thoughts. So, and she does this to Farrah in Tamlin's manner, right? He goes into her mind and he reads her thoughts. He says she has the most delicious thoughts about you, Tamlin. He said she's wondered about the feeling of your fingers on her thighs between them too. He chuckled.

Even as he said my most private thoughts, even as I burned with outrage and shame. I trembled at the grip still on my mind, Reese and turned to the High Lord. I'm curious, why does she wonder if it would feel good to have you bite her breast the way you bite her neck? I guess we're starting with a spicy quote today.

So he can read her thoughts and then also after they capture the adder in AKA math, he reads the adders thoughts too. And that's how he knows that the king of Highburn is like amassing an army. So he can read thoughts. He can also speak into people's minds, which I feel interestingly enough we didn't really get the full extent of this until 1/4 of Silver Flames. When Pharah speaks into Cassian's mind, that's kind of like the first time we get it outside of to Damati, because obviously Reese and Pharah can mind speak, but it didn't occur to me that Reese can mind speak basically to anyone, right? Because Pharah does it to Cassian. When people can speak back.

And people can speak back. Which is exactly. Interesting. Like non Damati can speak back to Damati, Yeah. Which I think is really interesting. So the quotes for that is Cassian, this is Pharaoh talking to Cassie. And this isn't sort of flames Cassian. I forgot you can mind speak her last sounded.

I can't decide whether I should be insulted or not. Perhaps I should be using the Damati gifts more often. She paused before saying, Are you all right? So that's kind of when Pharaoh goes into Cassian's mind to speak to him. And then we have another example with Nesta, but we don't have to. Basically, she does the same thing to nest.

So she goes into Nesta's mind and says, like, I forgive you after Nesta told her she was going to die as sisters do. So yeah. So basically, moral of that story, only one person has to be a Damati for you to have a mind conversation with them, which I think is really interesting. He can also presumably go into people's minds.

We have various examples of this. Obviously we see Ferret do it with both Lucian and Tarkin, but when we see Reese do it, he goes into Cassian's mind to see what happened on the ice, and we get a quote about that. So he reached for my arm, gently examining the angry well or my skin had been torn by an arrow. Darkness rumbled in the corner of the room. Cassian let me into his mind just now to show me what had happened on the ice, so he can literally see people's memories. So we have reading thoughts, we have speaking into minds, and we have reading people's memories.

Then we have things that I'm not sure, I'm not sure if this is De Madi or or if this is the bond between Farrah and Reese, but he walks into Farrah dreams. Basically, he sees Farrah dreams before they're mated, right? So when she's human, he sees, I guess he sees her life through his dreams. I don't know, like he sees her hands painting.

He realizes she's in Prithean because he sees her. So there's some aspect of like seeing the world through dreams that again, I don't know if this is his Damati power or if this is because they have the bond, but it's something worth pointing out. Then there are some things we learn about Damati that we haven't seen him do, but that we're told so. Rule 1, Reese told me, his eyes glazed with glazed with the rage of that memory.

Don't go into someone's minds unless you hold the way open. A demati might leave their minds spread wide for you and then shut you inside, turning you into their willing slave. We've never seen this happen, but he says it can happen. Yeah. He can controls people, control people's emotions and pain. So he takes Claire's pain away when she's being tortured. And the quote for that is I broke into Claire's head when they brought her under the mountain. I took away her pain and told her to scream when expected to. And he takes Ferris pain away when she's giving birth to Nick's right.

And he's even, like, mad at himself that he didn't think of it sooner like that. Maja had to be like, why aren't you taking her pain away, Reese? He's like, Oh, yeah. And then he can straight up just kill people in their minds. So we see him do this twice under the mountain. So he kills Claire. The quote for that is after a week, I couldn't let them do it, hurt her like that anymore.

So while they tortured her, I slipped into her mind and ended it. She didn't feel any pain. She felt none of what they did to her even at the end. And then he killed the rebels from the Summer Court under the Mountain, too. So when when Amarantha brings the rebels from the Summer Court, instead of letting them survive and be tortured, he kills them as like a mercy.

Yeah. I'm debating if I want to talk more about De Mati or if we want to move on to other powers because I have all this stuff about the talent tipped hand. Let's just put it this way and I'll keep it brief. We know that Farah feels a talent tipped hand kind of in her mind when Reese goes into her mind in ACOTAR, right?

But we never see anyone react to Pharah when Pharah is going into their minds or when Reese goes into anyone else's minds again. So it's not really clear if that talent tipped hand was part of his power or if that was something. I mean, it's obviously part of his power, but it's not really clear if that's like needed or if he can just slip into people's minds kind of unnoticed.

And he was just doing the talent to kind of scare Pharah and to get her to go back to the human lands because that was really what he wanted at that point, right? He wanted her far from we're at those clutches and he wanted her to be safe. Yeah, it seems like it's a technique of his to your point, whether it's it feels Damati, but we can talk about it later. He holds, he holds Lucian's mind. Like that is a thing that he can do, which we didn't really specifically talk about, but he can quote hold minds. And I think we feel him do some of that in the Spring Court manner to Farah.

And then we see him do it again when he's holding Lucian's to try and get Farah's name, when Amaranth is threatening Lucian's life in order to get Farah's name. So he can hold minds, he can shatter them. He can shatter them without killing someone, which I don't think he explicitly talked about, but he can basically turn people into brain mush and just like, have them be brain dead and like, do whatever with the body.

But I do think it's interesting because we don't really see other damatis, like, wield that sort of power. Yeah. No, it seems like so. I mean the other Damatis that we have are the twins from Highburn, right? The weird or they're not twins, they're fucking weird incest siblings and they do not seem to be. I didn't really research them for this episode, but they do not seem to be on the same level as Reese's with with with his Damati powers.

Like they can clearly speak to each other, but it doesn't seem like they can just like shatter people's minds. But I don't know. So super powerful Damani. OK. Do we want to talk any more about the Damati or do we want to move on to like other pieces of it? I don't know whether you consider this Damati, because I know it's a little bit of a Gray area, but he was able to make everybody forget Valaris.

Yeah, I didn't put it in there, but yeah. So that falls under just altering people's minds and memories. But he can do that in mass, even with dampered power. So he's just very powerful. Very powerful. They money. Yeah. So and just for context for that one, he makes the entire Night Court under the mountain forget that Felaris exists. He also with the pics, right?

We've talked about this before, but he basically gives them like entire new lives. Like he he implants in their mind. He implants the idea that they were rebelling against Amarantha. He's basically incepting them, right? Like he he made them believe that they were rebelling against Amarantha, basically. And keeps and like holds that.

Yeah, yeah. So like, he can, he can fuck you up. Yeah. Is the short story here. We know that people have thoughts about that. That is not this question. This question is simply what are his powers all right so the next thing I had he can summon nights. So the first time we see him do this is in the sparring pit above the House of wind when he's comforting favor after she says basically that she she wished she had died under the mountain. So the quote for that is open your eyes. I did, and found darkness all around me, not for me, but from Reese.

As if the sparring ring had been wiped away, as if the world had yet to begin. Quiet, soft, peaceful lights began twinkling, little stars blooming, irises of blue and purple and white. I reached and shot a hand towards Juan, and Starlight danced on my fingertips. Far away in another world, perhaps Azrael and Cassian, Sparta the dark, no doubt using it as a training exercise.

So like, it's not just him and Pharaoh that have been like enveloped in this night, like Cassian and Azrael off on the side are also enveloped in this nice nighttime balloon. Velaris Dark, Yeah. I don't know How far does this extend. I don't know. Yeah. So we see. So that's a comforting darkness to kind of quote.

But then we see him do it in a very aggressive, angry way when Kier calls Pharaoh a whore in the Hewn City. So the quote for that is night exploded into the room. People cried out. And when the darkness cleared, Kier was on his knees. Restore lounge on the throne, his mask, his face a mask of frozen rage, right.

So there, he's using his night to kind of, like, scare people, basically. And then, of course, in Frost and Starlight, when him and Favor are having sex in the cabin, the quote is he released the damper on his power. Stars flickered around us, sweet darkness sweeping in as if we were the only souls in a Galaxy. And still Reese remained before me and my legs wrapped around his waist.

So he's summoning. He's summoning night, Night. He's summoning sex. He's summoning night while they're having sex. Kind of kind of, yeah. And that one's interesting, too. Like, as if we were only souls in the Galaxy. I do believe there's also another quote where Pharaoh is like, we didn't have bodies here. Yeah.

I'm not totally sure what's happening there. Are they in a pocket room? I don't know. I don't know. Yeah. Yeah, but it's night. And then in silver flames Cassie and just trace up calls him night, right. So this is when he's showing up to extinguish Nesta basically has erupted in silver. Have you ever read this is a tangent. Have you ever read the David Sedaris book when you are engulfed in flames?

No Oh my God you should. It's it's a collection of short stories. I love it. David Sedaris is like a fucking hilarious author. He's so good. But now I never I read this chapter I think when you are engulfed in silver flame. So the quote for that one is Nesta arch once more. And that fire sucked in, as if a great inhale had been made and was about to be exhaled, rupturing through the world.

The windows of the room flew out. Night burst in full of shadows and wind and stars, and as Nestor erupted, silver fire blasting outward, Reese pounced. He smothered her fire with his darkness as as if he dropped a blanket on it. So literally just night, right? Just calling him night. He can seemingly shape night into weapons. So quote for that is this is in mist and fury. He's fighting the Adder.

We sand really sent 2 Spears of night shooting into its wings. The Adder shrieked as those Spears met flash and sake deep into the bark behind it. So like very similar with Cassian and Azrael and their siphon powers like Reese's just like molding night into something tangible. Yeah, and then I just thought this was an interesting quote.

When he's having the nightmares in the townhouse in Valeris, night is and darkness is literally like emanating from the room. So the quote for that is. In his stare, I could have sworn Galaxy swirled in the shadows between his wings. The glorious depths of night dwelled. I vaulted from bed, yanked the door open. A darkness swept past me on a phantom wind full of stars and flapping winds and pain around and around the darkness world. The beginning and the end of the world. Like Farrah is calling Reese's night the beginning and the end of the world, which is they are a song that has no beginning and no end, right?

So, like, what is the connection here to all of this? Yeah. And then I just wrote this because this seems very relevant. We have our famous quote. There are different kinds of darkness reset. I kept my eyes shut. There's the darkness that frightens, the darkness that soothes and the darkness that is restful.

I pictured each. Then there's the darkness of lovers and the darkness of assassins. It becomes what the bear wishes it to be, needs it to be. It is not wholly bad or good, which is a very much a reflection of kind of his character to write. Like he has all these different types of night. He uses them differently. He is not wholly bad or good.

Did you have anything else for the night part of it? No. I assume you're separating night and Shadows and Shadows. Yeah. Very fucking confusing. Yeah. All right, before we get there, he can control people's bodies. We haven't seen him do this since ACOTAR, but he can control people's bodies. So he does this to favor A.

Telekinesis in general, kind of. That applies to everything, including like, your blood. Yeah, yeah. So the two instances we have of that again, both in acotar against my volition, my body straightened, every muscle going taut, my bone straining magic, but deeper than that power that sees everything inside me and took control.

Even my blood flowed where he will do, which is what you just referenced. And then after her second trial, basically lifts fair up to like facing Marantha, right. So my knee and spine, not a total the my knees and spine not entirely of my own will force me upright. And when the ground at last stopped moving, I looked at Amarantha with tearless eyes. So again, we're getting one time where Reese is using this power, like, maybe not so greatly, and then one time where he's doing it in, like, defiance, basically, right? And to help fear out.

Yeah. Winnowing. Reese's winnowing is described as a dark wind. That's all I have. It's constantly described as a dark wind. Moore's winnowing is not described as a dark wind. As Real's winnowing as we talked is is is described as a blade cutting through the world, right. I don't know but dark wind, this dark wind that dark wind everywhere.

All right, shadows. I'm perplexed by the. I mean, I, I've have detected a pattern, but I am also perplexed. OK, do you want to go first then? I mean, if you haven't, sure, I can share some thoughts. But I was going to talk about it in like our next episode. But let's talk about it now. Well, I think the shadows seem linked to his more animalistic features. I would agree.

So the shadows. So the quotes that I highlighted for that were across the pillars towering behind him. I could have sworn the shadow of great wings spread. That's fair. On recent in Akhmath, first the shadows started plumes of them from his back, and then as if rage had loosened his grip on that beast he'd once told me he hated to yield to, those wings became flesh.

So a lot of these shadows are described as his wings. Like his wings taking form. Yeah, sometimes they just exist, though. Like, shadows swirled around him again as I dug into my food. Shadows gathered around him as he loosened his grip on power. So it seems like these shadows can exist when they're around, but there are shadows of talons, shadows of wings. Like, are these shadows linked to his night power? Or are they linked to his Illyrian side? His beast form side?

It feels more like that but I don't know. I. Agree. And I think we get some very confusing pieces here because we were told his shadows are not like Azrael's, right? We've talked about that a lot on this podcast, that his shadows are not like Azrael's. However, there are two instances where it seems like he can completely cloak himself the way that Azrael can in shadows. So the first we actually get from Farrah, and this is again in the scene where Reese is having the nightmare in the townhouse and she goes to comfort him. She makes her own hand vanish into shadows. So the quote for that is like some dam had been cracked open inside me.

I glanced at my hand and willed it to vanish into shadow. It did half a thought scattered that darkness against. In the same way that Azrael can disappear into shadow, Farah can like hide her hand in shadow. Which makes me wonder why Azrael had to cloak her when they go into hybrids war camp. But that's neither here nor there.

And then Reese in Acawar says that he can stay hidden too. So the quote for that is? Reese said to me. The information you got from Dagdon and Branagh, who are the incest siblings, confirms what we've been gathering ourselves. I know it's not confirmed but like they're definitely fucking guys, OK? The information you got from Dagdon Branagh confirms what we've been gathering ourselves while you were gone. Especially high burns and potential allies and other territories on the continent.

Vultures more muttered and Cassie and look inclined to agree, but Reese? Reese had indeed been spying while Azrael had been. Reese snorted. I can stay hidden me and that's an Aqua chapter 16. But he says I can stay hidden. Like does he mean literally the way that Azrael can stay hidden in the shadows?

I wouldn't. I would think yes. I would think yes, because fair can do it, right? So but then we're told his shadows are different than Azrael. So like, I don't really fucking. Know well I think also to be fair to the shadow question, I don't know that the shadows need to be his manner of hiding.

He can summon complete darkness. Can he control that darkness? I would assume so. Hope so. He's also a Damati. Like can he just? Can also glam. Can't see them. He can glamour. We haven't gotten to that yet, but like. No, that's not here. He can. He's powerful enough that he can figure out a way to stay hidden. But yes, like if Farah can make her hand disappear into shadows, where else is she getting that power from, right? Presumably from Reece, but we don't know that. We don't know that.

All right? So yes, following that line of thought, he can. I wrote this as cloak slash glamour because we kind of get 2 instances of it. Yeah. So obviously the big one is he glamours the fae army to full Highburn, so him, Farrah and Cressida do this. So the quote for that is? Varian jabbed a finger on the map, spread on the table we'd gathered around. Spin a glamour or good one, so that if anyone walks by here, they see and hear and smell an army, but whatever spells in place to repel them from actually coming up to it. But let Highburn's eyes report that we are still here, that we chose to stay here while we March N under a site shield. Cassian murmured, rubbing his jaw. It could work, but.

Tarkin said to Reese. You can make such a deception. Reese nodded and winked at me. With assistance from my mate. Right, so they are, they're kind of spinning. They're doing both a glamour and a cloak here, right? Because they're glamouring the mountain pass to look like the army is still there, and then they are cloaking the actual army. And then in a much more fun way, he cloaks in Frost and Starlight Chapter 2.

He cloaks himself in Pharaoh when they're having sky sex. So the quote for that is, and this is from Reese's point of view, last week I've been so stupidly busy and I've been so desperate for the feel and taste of her that I'd taken her during the flight down from the House of to the townhouse high above Alaris for all to see if it weren't for the cloaking I had thrown in place. So, yeah, you're totally right.

Also, that sounds very cold. I hope Fair had a good time. But you're totally right that he can cloak. So maybe it's not the shadow fire. It's fine. Yeah, she's got fire. Speaking of fire, well, first, yeah, he can missed people all right? He can miss people. We don't need to get into that one too much.

He lights a fire in frost and Starlight just to burn off his power. He just fucking lights a fire. We've never seen that power from him before. The quote for that is a flicker of my power had a fire roaring in the hearth of the small downstairs, warming swiftly. It was barely a whisper of magic, yet it's release ease that near constant strain of keeping all that I was all that dark power in check. What do you mean?

What do you mean you just lit a fire? Like that's Lucian's power. Yeah, he seems to just have. There's another point that just doesn't make sense. And admittedly it's not confirmed that it's Reese that does this. But when Pharaoh's hand burns in her trial, it's it's like implied that it's Reese.

It could be mind work I suppose, but like, that's not really in your arsenal in your. Wheelhouse, Sir. Like. Between that and the fire, I mean there's a couple other things I think that we'll get to, but like where is that from? I mean the fire is much more overt the. Fire is crazy. Like we know Tamlin has the secret wind power.

Like, I'm not sure if this is the same thing or if Sarah Jay Bass was just like, Oh yeah, like, he can light a fire, you know, like, or if this is some kind of like. Well, and Reese has wind too. Yeah, the dark wind. Dark wind, but wind nonetheless. Yeah, winds nonetheless. My last point on his power, and then I think you probably have more, is just generally moving shit is what I call it.

So yeah, when he goes to Tamlin's Manor in Frost and Starlight, Tamlin has an elk in the basement that he's like trying to dress and make for dinner, and he just slices up the elk and Tamlin's Manor, puts it on the stove and lights a fire once again. So he's literally just with his mind and dressing this elk, slicing it up, putting it on the fire, cooking it like none of like, like none of this shit is shit we have seen him do before, nor do we see him do it again.

Yeah, I don't know. That's all I had that 20 minutes or whatever, he says. Yeah, I don't have too much more than that. There's just a couple things that it's like what's happening here. 1 he can heal. Admittedly a lot of people in this series can heal, but he heals Pharaoh's arm under the mountain and then he doesn't really help heal anytime after that.

Like when they come back from highburn and everyone's all torn up. Like Amran is healing Cassian and more is healing Azrael and Reese is just in shambles fairly. He's he's had a tough day but he can heal so that is in his arsenal. He can also you said just moving shit. I said he can just store stuff in nothingness.

Yeah. He can just make things up here and disappear as he pleases. And I'm actually more focused on the disappearing. The appearing makes a little bit more sense because it's more intentional that things have gone away and come back. Like they come from to, they go to and from a place. Like when he and Faye are traveling, he's got like a little, in my mind, he's packed a little sack and just put it in a pocket realm and is pulling.

Hermione. Bag yes yes exactly like the Hermione bag with the spell where she can go like super deep and has an entire library at the bottom. Like, that's what I picture Reese using as the pocket realms, but he also just makes things disappear, dirt, mess, clean stuff all the time. Where does it all go?

Where is he sending all of it? Yeah, I assume it's related to his winnowing power in this concept of pockets between realms that he's messing with, but. Can I tell you something that bothers me so much that I think a lot about, and I'm sure no one else has thought about this? I'm sure when Reese and Farah go to the human realms and Reese and Farah are like sharing a room, but they're not together yet, he conjures a bed from a pocket realm, right?

So that they don't have to sleep in the same bed. And he warms the bed up for her, right? He conjures the bed for her in Frost and Starlight. When Cassian and Azrael are staying in the townhouse in Valeris the night before Solstice, Cassian is like, why are there no beds in this house? And why is this bed so freaking small? And I'm like, Reese, can you not conjure a bed? You did it before.

Like why? Why are we not conjuring a bed right? Yeah, yeah, it's fair. And also, where did the bed come from? Where in the bed like from? Is he just creating things? I don't know. How is he warming them? What does his pocket realm look like? Is it a mess? Is a disaster. Is it a room of requires? And I was about to say that, but I was like, we can't have two Harry Potter references in 2 minutes. But yeah.

I just need to know these are the questions I have so. Yeah, can I tell you another thing that bugs me about that scene? When him and Farrah are in the human realms, he warms up the bed for her and Farrah says thanks for warming the bed for me. And Reese said Amarantha never fake thanked me for that.

And I'm like, Reese, why the fuck were you warming up the bed for Amarantha? Like what were you doing? I assume she made him, no? Sure, let's go with that. I like. The one made me sad. But that it was devastating. It was devastating. Yeah, my last one was just like general elemental power, like how are you? Like it doesn't seem like he is isolated to night at all. Yeah, I mean, he can't summon daylight or anything like that. He doesn't have light.

Yeah, he doesn't have light. That's true. We didn't really talk about the whole starry situation, and there's not really any power associated with that. But it's magicky. Yeah, so there's stars in his. Eyes. There's stars in his eyes. There's stars behind Farah often sees like night and stars behind him, like in between his wings especially so you know, he's a night guy. He's night.

All right, Ronnie, what is Reese's Beast? Form OK, so I do feel like we've talked about this at some point, so I apologize if this feels like we are rehashing a little bit, but I'm going to I'm going to rehash a little. Bit we talked a little during Tamlin, but we didn't get to the heart of it. Yeah, we didn't get to the heart. We see Reese's beast form 2 1/2 times in this series and I'm not going to go through his partial shift in ACOTAR because I don't really think that that counts.

TLDR there was a partial shift in ACOTAR. He did not have his full powers at that point, so he kind of just hybrid shifted his hands and feet. I picture that often and I think it must have looked very weird. Honestly. I'm picturing just like a beautiful man but with like weird hands and feet. I know. Same thing whenever Tamlin's claws come out because she describes them as coming out from here. Yeah, I'm like, is this a Wolverine? Yeah.

And also like, that's that doesn't that's like probably one of the main times where I picture the men in this series to be very unattractive is when suddenly like a Talon or a claw just like rips out of their hand. I'm like, no, I don't want any of that from either of them, any of them actually. Anyways, so we see Reese's beast form fully twice in this series. First, and the most obvious, is in Akawar when he shifts in the midst of battle, at the battle against Tyburn, he and Helian both shift.

And that is a big signal that things are really bad. And so the description, the quote of that is the talents came first, replacing fingers and feet, then dark scales or perhaps feathers. I couldn't get a look at them. Covered his legs, his arms, his chest, his body, contorted bone, bones and muscles growing and shifting.

The beast form Reese had kept hidden never liked to unleash unless it was dire enough to do so. Before the cauldron swept me away, I beheld what happened to his head, his face. It was a thing of nightmares, nothing human or Faye in it. It was a creature that lived in black pits and only emerged at night to hunt and feast the face. It was those creatures that had been carved into the rock of the Court of Nightmares that made-up his throne. The throne, not only a representation of his power, but of what lurked within.

And the wings hybrid soldiers became began fleeing. And then Helion, the hell what happened? And he shifted. So so that's the first time. And we also get a little bit of a hint in there, which I'll talk about in a second. But these are the beasts that are that are carved into the rock at the heathen city.

And we also get the reference of beasts living in pits too. So we'll talk about that in a SEC. The second, which I think is pretty interesting, is in Nesta's mind in a cord of silver flames. So she is in her her mind and Reese comes to basically knock on her mind's door and maybe give her a little message and she sees a thing beyond the gates of her mind and kind of like peeks open the door and says like, what do you want?

And that thing beyond her mind is we understand to be breeze. And she describes it as the thing that stood beyond the fortress of her mind was a creature of claws, scales and teeth. So we get the confirmation that it scales, not feathers, because that was a little bit uncertain. And the first quote it was veiled from sight beneath riding shadows and the occasional passing star glinting in the darkness. But every now and then a glimpse of a wing or a Talon shown. So Reese's beast form is a scaled reptilian clawed teethed talent being it's made pretty clear that it is the creatures carved into the hewn city pillars that we see earlier in the series.

But the question is, what are those? We encounter them a couple other times in this series. There are living beasts in a pit in the Court of Nightmares that are described exactly like these beasts. So this is in A Court of Silver Flames Chapter 37, when they're interrogating 2 males from the Autumn Court.

They're in the Hatch in the center of the circular room, and there's a pit of writhing beasts below to their scales and claws and merciless hunger. The beast did not feed often. They could receive a body every 10 years and make it going into hibernation between meals. So there are these beasts that live underneath the Court of Nightmares.

So it's not just, oh, these are like our mascots that we carve into. We only bring a pillar football. Games. But these beasts are alive. There are beasts that are alive. We don't know whether it's the exact same ones, but there are beasts that are alive. These beasts are also the same beasts that are on the dais in the vision that Lanthus sends to Nesta in a cord of silver flames. And the quote for that is Nesta could see the portrait Lanthus wove into the air around them.

She saw herself on a black throne, a matching crown in her unbound hair. Enormous Onyx beasts, scaled like though she'd seen on the Hewn City's pillars, lay at the foot of the dais. Ataraxia leaned against her throne, and on her other side, Lanthus sat there, his hand laced through hers. So these beasts seem linked to these Death Lords and Lanthus in some way, meaning Reese at his core, like who he is at the deepest level is somehow links to these Death Lords too. Which is super interesting because because it means that recent Nestor could be more closely linked than we had ever thought.

Which is a very interesting thought. It also means that Lanthus, who is a prisoner in the prison, could be tied to or somehow knows a lot about the Court of Nightmares. Like, and why is that what Reese's beast form is? I mean that is what Reese's beast form is. I think that answers the question. But like, why is he at his core, the playthings, the pets of these death Lords?

Yeah, yes, I agree with everything you've just said. We have another quote that's an explanation for what these beasts are, and it ties into the Daglin and the Wild Hunt as well. So the quote for that is, and this is Reese talking to Nesta, this is in silver flames, the Daglin delighted and terrorizing the fae and humans under their control. The Wild Hunt was a way to keep all of us in line. They gather a host of their fiercest, most merciless warriors and grant them free rein to kill as they please. The Daglin possess mighty monstrous beasts. Hounds they called them.

Though they didn't look like hounds, we know that they used to run prey to ground before they tortured and killed them. It's a terrible history and much of it might be elaborated by myths. The hounds looked like the beasts in the Hewn City. Nesta said wildly. They looked like the scaled beast carved into the Hewn City's pillars. So now we have a direct connection not only between Reese and the death gods, but Reese and his beast form being the hounds and the Daglund's Wild Hunt that we also know that Lanthus Roden.

So like, right, we're get we're getting like a very woven trick. It like layers here. And what what Lanthus says about these hounds is I rode in the wild hunt before you even you were even a scrap of existence. Witch from Orid. This is 1 Nesta tells him he's a witch from Orid. I summoned the hounds and the world cowered at their bang.

He summoned the hounds, right? He didn't create them. So where did the hounds come from? Like what is their origin? Why is this Reese's Reese's beast form? Because I also think it's interesting that yes, it connects him to the Daglin, but like this subservient pet situation is like, not at all what we would for Reese, right? It's like he's.

Not he's not in. Charge and he should be right. He should be right. So like what is I don't know, like it's she's obviously linking his beast form to them, but like what is his relationship to them? What is what is the relationship to the human city? I think it's also a good question because we have we have quotes that potentially like the Daglin to the human city too, right? Because Amarantha Ferris says the human city is quote UN quote, the work of a God.

And the quote for that is this is in Mist and Fury chapter 42, Amaranthus Court, where she models after the human city had been the work of a child. The court of nightmares was the work of a God. And then we have the Daglin being called near gods. I think Reese calls them that. So that quote is and this is Silver Flames again.

The Fae were not the first masters of this world. According to our oldest legends, most now forgotten. We were created by beings who were near gods and monsters. The Daglin. They ruled for millennia and slaved us and the humans. They were petty and cruel and drink the magic of the lamb like wine.

So we have the hounds of the Daglin being carved all over the Hewn city and Pharaoh calls them and Pharaoh says the Hewn city was made by gods and the Daglin are described as near gods. So like, yeah, I think your question about what is the Daglin's link to recent to the Hewn City is like spot on.

That is the question. We have great answer right now, but yeah, yeah, there is one. There is literally what he is on the inside. It's so interesting, right? Because it's not only his beast form, but it's how Nesta sees him. Mind to mind. Yeah, I had actually. Like that is who he is. Yeah, yeah, It's pretty wild, Pretty wild.

And again, when again, that scene in Frost and Starlight when Pharaoh was like, we didn't have bodies here she describes what Reese is doing to her with, like, talons and, like, claws and like, it's loving and it's gentle, but she's like, I don't remember the words, but basically Reese is in kind of his beast form there. She's probably in hers too.

But like, yeah, like what? What is? Why is his mental form this pet of the Daglin? Yeah, why don't? No, Certainly interesting to ponder. That is the conclusion of our Aqatar only section. Sorry, it's only two questions this week, guys. Reese is hard to talk about with only Aqatar. So once again, we're going to plug this for the Mass. First, if you have not read all of Crescent City or all of Fern of Glass, this is your spoiler warning because we will start talking about them right now.

Love you, bye. Love you. Bye. All right, welcome to Mass. First, welcome. We usually start with corrections and omissions and social media. But that last question that we asked it was so there's mass first. There's a Part 1 and Part 2 basically, right? So we are now in full spoiler territory for all of Crescent City, all of thrown of glass on which you guys know because you're here.

OK the way I almost said a stereo like so close to saying. Yeah, I don't know that we needed to use the word pet, but we did, So it's done now. Oh yeah, we did. Oh man, I didn't even think about that. I. Think I started, I think I said plaything or pet because like they in Lanthus's vision was at the foot of the day, was at the foot of the dais.

Yeah, it's acting so. It's a pet. It's acting like. At least at the very least a guard dog. Yeah. And I mean, we can just continue talking about this question as far as I'm concerned, right? Because Bryce comes face to face with these hounds under the Hewn City and they basically like her star starts shining and they don't touch her right.

So they are like very much controlled by the Asteri. They defer. The. Asteri yeah, like it is, it is a pet situation basically. So like. It's very cute, actually. It's cute. They lay down and I was like. What is Reese? What is this beast form like? What is this? It is very out of sync with what we've been told about Reese because Bryce literally says Reese is as powerful as an Asteri.

She feels his power and it feels like he's as powerful as an Asteri, but then his beast form is is this pet of the Asteri. So I don't know I. Don't know what to make of these little reptiles yet. I also just don't, I don't know, like maybe it's over reading into it, like maybe the fact that he can shift in and out of it and still has all this power.

He is still powerful, like all powerful. Does seem like no matter what, his beast form is way bigger than them. Yes. And his has wings, right. So maybe it's just like, maybe they were maybe the beasts were created in the image of the asteri, right. The way that man is created in God's image. Like maybe that's what's happening here and he's not actually a pet of the asteri.

It is that is what? The asteri, that's his army. Yeah. Yeah. And the beasts are more like little orcs. I don't know. I don't know That's true. Pure speculation, pure spec, we're in. We definitely went into speculation territory on that one, pure speculation, Ronnie. So we're going to start with cosms again. Do you have any cosms for Mass?

I do have a couple cosms. I've got a couple cosms. I've got one. I have one social media shout out. That's more just a shout out for everyone. Guys. We know about the interview where Sarah J Maas says that Ameren is an Old Testament Angel. She is obviously not going to spoil another book of hers in an interview. We still think that is thought provoking and relevant conversation to think about the Esteri which are portrayed as wrathful gods, archangels, which are literally named archangels like the biblical Archangel, and how those beings in Crescent City relate to Ameren.

So yes, we know that Sarah J Maas confirmed quote UN quote what Ameren is. However, I still think there's tons of room for interpretation as to what she is in the realm of this series. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. Like we get that she's an Angel. We get there are angels in there are angels.

Also. I found a picture of that interview of the transcript and silver flames from or Frosted Starlight. And what she says is, if I'm remembering correctly, basically think of Amarin as not Amarin is right. Like she did not say Amarin is. She was like, this is how you should think of her. Yeah. She's like, in my fucking world.

So yeah, I could do whatever I want. Yeah. Yes. So that's one. And if you listen to our Ameren episode, we discussed that at length at length. Just because she was inspired by an Old Testament Angel of Death does not mean she is not also a tool of the Esteri. Yes, and I also think we're getting a lot of hints that that Sarah J Maas has been inspired by, by the Old Testament overall. Which is so.

Across this entire. I love that. Yeah, yeah. Which is great. Great. So, yeah. So that's one. And then this is potentially both an omission and a correction. Probably just an omission, kind of a long one, but I'm going to try and keep it short. We might owe Amrin a bit of an apology. OK, I'm happy to apologize to her. Can you set that?

Yes, about us saying that she's lying to Bryce's face specifically and therefore is probably doing nefarious deeds on Prythian. I think this is still possible, but I no longer think that it is necessarily ironclad and this is a result of a bunch of people fighting in the comments. So I went back and reread this whole section in depth and I came out with some some lightly different thoughts, so I'm going to talk through them. We might have been a little unfair to her in this series of events, and here is why I think that. So Ameren says that she went in.

So this is all in the end of the very end of A House of Sky and Breath and the 1st chapter of House of Flame and Shadow kind of splits across like the end of the very end of that book and the beginning of the next. Ameren says she went in before dot dot dot, and she says it was murky and when she came out there were rumors of this exodus.

So she's not explicit and she doesn't say she went in during fiance rule or any of that the way that Reese did, who obviously doesn't know a single fucking thing because he he just doesn't know, Like he's never seen any of this. Yeah, so that quote is, and we talked about this, but Amron specifically says it's murky. I went in before dot, dot, dot.

She shook her head. But when I came out, there were rumors that a great number of people had vanished as if they'd never been. Some said to another world, etcetera. We already talked about that. Amron definitely does a lot of suspicious things. So I think that's all fair game, right? She definitely tightens at the mention of the asteri.

She she like her features tighten when Bryce, you know, brings up intergalactic parasites. It's all very SUS. She acknowledges that she knows who Queen Thea and Pelleas were, which is important. And when Bryce is asked what the Asteri are, Amron kind of tries to like distract the conversation. She's like, don't waste your breath, Reese.

She's not going to tell you. So that's all very suspicious. But she does explain, like Amron explains, she said eventually says it's in our history, Reese and and the hysteria, we're not known by that name here. Here they were called the Daglund. So she eventually does kind of just say what all this had been about.

And yes, it's weird that she had been kind of shaky, kind of nervous. But the thing that we didn't talk about at length around this part enough, in my opinion, is that Celine was a Dame Adi, and that she specifically confessed to suppressing the memory of Thea and Pelleus into legends who betrayed the King and erasing the memory of herself and Helena from the memory of Prythian entirely.

So that quote is. But to the rest of the world, Celine said. I am sure that my mother and her lands became a whisperer, then a legend. People wondered if they had ever existed. The old generation died off. I clung to life even after my mate had passed as an elder. I spun lies from people and called them truth. No one knows what became of Thea and General Pelleas. I told countless generations they betrayed King Fion and Gwidian was forever lost his dagger with it. I lied with every breath.

Faye and Fion had two daughters. Unimportant and unimpressive. So Celine has to be a pretty powerful day because through her entire bloodline, like Reese is able to conceal an entire city for generations. She erases them from history. And if Ameren is this creature of blood and rage and nightmares that's been under a mountain that Celine goes off and captures like she, she might not actually really know what happened. So she she probably is still a pet of these dairy like that all.

I think that's all fair game, but like her deliberately saying, like I went in during King Fion, like I've got no idea about any of these people. It seems like Celine kind of made sure of that. Like that was kind of Celine's whole intent. So we may have been a little bit unfair on that particular part. In my heart of hearts, do not think that Amarin is a nefarious character in that she is secretly like an Asteri and has been like poisoning the inner circle and Belarus this whole time, I don't think.

That I think neither of us want to believe that, that's for sure. Oh, because we like these characters a wild. But what I do think we might be getting set up for is that she was working for the asterisk, right? And she did do terrible things for them that she is ashamed to tell her. She's about to fix them and and right.

And they're coming back and like, there's going to be conversations that needs to be had is what I'm guessing. No. And I think that's fair. And I think we'll probably talk more about Celine and Helena in this very episode. In this very episode indeed. I think Celine and Helena are probably the most important characters in this whole series at this point.

I think they're really fucking important. We'll get there. But yeah, I think it's, I think it's very important to pay attention to who they are and what they did. Yes. And I probably haven't been doing a good enough job about that. So I agree with you. If you set up that coffee with Amron, I will gladly apologize to her or I'll do it publicly on this podcast.

Sorry, Amron. Yeah, this is our public apology to Amron for that specific part. You were still sketchy as fuck about the story. I still think she's hiding things, but I don't think she's like, I don't think she's like in a steri acolyte, you know, like, I don't think that's what's happening here. But I think, yes, I think it's all, I think that piece of it is consistent with the theme of Prithian was supposed to forget. And Ameren, like Bryce even thinks that Ameren is this historian because Reese keeps looking to her for history simply because she was there.

But like Prithian has this gap that not even Ameren is really able to fill because Celine left it intentionally does. This not make I mean we don't really know but does this not make Nesta even more fucking crazy and that she was able to resist this type of mind control basically from Tamlin not from Reese right? So depending on how you feel about Tamlin, not from an actual Damati but like if Nessa is truly able to resist the Damati mind powers or just being mind fucked in general. And Celine was able to make an entire basically like forget all of this.

Like that's fucking crazy that Nesta can do this. Well, and you know, the thought that I had when I was thinking about this is like there's no way that Celine could have made something like Amarin forget, right? And maybe not. Maybe Amarin was just off being Amarin and like was under a mountain and couldn't figure anything out. But then I realized that Reese made like a otherworldly creature like the adder forget.

So if like Reese can make something like the adder forget and and Nesta is still just like I remember everything. And Ameren forgot about the trove, right? Ameren. I thought Ameren like knew about the force. No, but I mean, in general, like, remember when they're like, oh, yeah, the trove is a thing in silver flames. And Faber was like, why didn't you talk about this before? And Ameren was like, oh, it must have been glamour. And so that we didn't remember it. Oh.

Yeah, she does say that, yeah. Which I guess is Celine's glamour. I guess that's what this is. Yeah, full circle. And I it. Wasn't the Cauldron, It was Celine. Yeah, cool. All right, I had one little correction. OK, that was serious. I at one point said that in Throne of Glass there are, we are not sure on the number of gods that go through the word gate, but it seems like there are 7, There are 12 gods that go through the word gate, not seven.

That is the end of my correction. I have nothing more to say on that. All right, our first question, my notes are not quite as long. All right, I'll ask it to myself. Abby, what is a demoni? All right, so we've had this question since our Tamlin episode, since we started actually thinking about what Tamlin might be, and we've kind of wondered what actually is a Demoni.

Yeah. We have a couple different powerful beings within this universe, I'll say powerful being types who can read minds, speak into minds. And we're only going to go with what we know is confirmed at this point, right? So I'm not going to talk about Tamlin. I'm not going to talk about I think I'm not going to talk about Ameren.

We're just going to go with like kind of what we know here. So we have some Faye on Midgard who can mind speak, right. So that is 1 facet of the same Adi power like we talked about in the beginning of the episode. So we know that Rune can mind speak, but only mind speak. The quotes about we have about that she is she being Bryce had a vague memory of Rune telling her the details about why exactly he felt that way.

But he asked no mind reading for you, but asked no mind reading for you. It's mind speaking. He grumbled and it has nothing to do with the the starborn stuff or this case. So that is House of Earth and breath Chapter 29. We are told that this is a gift from his mother's line, which makes sense and that his father doesn't know about it doesn't know anything about it.

The way that Cormac is able to blackmail said Reese blackmail ruin into working with the rebellion is he says I will tell your father, I will tell your father that you have this mind speaking ability. We know that lots of people who live in a violin can also do that. So the quote for that is this whole section is about your fancy of all and cousins shadow walking mind reading.

I'm surprised they don't claim they're starborn. They wish they were. Rune muttered. They're a bunch of pricks. So that is also House of Earth and Blood chapter. Wait, House of earth and blood, House of sky and breath, House of flame and shadow? Whatever. The second one or maybe the first one, I don't know. Chapter 29 I.

You know, I don't know these. Books bundle like it is like a fucking blurt. Of I read all like what is it 1800 pages? 1900 pages? I read them all as one and I continue to read them all as one. I don't know the difference between the books. They are all one contiguous book to me. Yeah, all right so so a couple interesting things here. Rune says that his mind speaking has nothing to do with being starved, but then Bryce kind of tells us the exact opposite thing when we're in The Cave of Princess. So Bryce says in The Cave of Princess that all Starborn can mind speak, and what she says is. Bryce knelt and dipped over the you were into the dark icy water.

The vessel in bowl, too, had been carved from black salt. The Starborn could mind speak, still can. She nodded up toward the the river a level above, with the murder twins lurking somewhere on its other side. Maybe the salt helps her mind speak with hell. Maybe someone in hell can tell us how to kill the Esteri.

Apollyon himself ate serious. Maybe he's the answer all along. But Bryce can't mind speak, right? And like seemingly Noah, like Cormac, I don't think can mind speak. It's only Ruin and it's only these creepy ass. We have murder twins again, but they don't seem to be fucking. And the murder twins in a violin, right? So like, is it actually Starborn or is it is it something else? Because like Bryce can never do it. We have a couple other interesting notes about runes mind speaking ability.

So Bryce notes that the Archie Arkeesian amulets don't protect against minds rune speaking ability. Sorry. Sorry, I'm speaking ability. I got where you were going. It's fine. Bryce, when she meets Reese, the guys, Oh my God, I'm losing my fucking mind here. All right, basically the point is both the Arkeesian amulet and the Gorsian shackles do nothing to stop Rune's mind speaking ability.

And when Bryce meets Reese, she thinks maybe it's the same thing. So like, whatever this is, it does not seem to be shackled, I'll say by the rules of traditional magic because both the Arkeesian amulet and the Gorsian shackles do not stop the mind speaking ability, but it doesn't seem to be a star born thing because Bryce can't do it.

You just talked about this, but these are more Faye that can Damati mind speak Celine and Helena right? Both of them so they can see people's memories, which is exactly what Reese can do. The quotes for that is. This is Celine talking. My story begins before I was born. The female's voice was heavy, weary, tired and sad. During a time I know of only from my mother's stories, my father's memories.

She lifted a finger to the space between her brows. Oh, sorry, here, not here. Both of them showed me once mind to mind, so I shall show you. Right. So it's it's it's Reese's powers. That's what you just said. So. Question on that. I just I have an opinion but I just want to make sure that we're agreed here.

Does that mean that Thea and Fionn are both Damati as well? I don't think so, no. Specifically not. They both showed me mind to mind. I don't think that Thea was. I wrote this down. I do not think that Thea can do this too. She did not know that Peleus was deceiving her, right? And I I think if she were de Madi she would have known and Cansian shows Reece mind to mind.

So were you saying then that Celine just asked Thea to show her? The way that Reece asked, the way to show him what happened on the ice. So then it has to be fionn. Or or it's not fionn at all. Or it's not fionn. Or it's not fionn at all. Yeah, and it's a hell based power. Yeah, and it's a hell based power.

Yes, that's what we're getting. OK, so like Bryce says the Starborn can mind speak. No, Helena can mind speak, Right, because Bryce can't do it. It's such a fucking confounding line. Like she can't do it. It's clearly not a Starborn thing. I think it's a hell thing I even have. That it's not, but then it's so dumb to say out loud. But like, then it's a recessive gene, right? Because because Bryce not having it, well, this is not our Crescent City season.

Never mind, hold on, we're not going to talk about Bryce's lineage. I need to read my notes because this does get so fucking complicated. All right, so. I have simpler notes on just De Madi powers. When we're ready to get to that, when we're ready to get to what they do. Yes, I'm sorry, I guess the I guess this question I answered it as where do de Madi come from?

OK, you do that, I'll answer. What do you do? No, you go all right, all right, you do. And we can change the order if we want to. All right, so. Celine and Helena definitely have this power. We have talked about how we think that maybe Selena and Helena are in fact not fiance daughters and are perhaps daughters of hell.

We can get into that more later. But let's talk about the other known Damani. So we obviously have to talk about Maeve, right? So Maeve Dorian describes Mae's power as the power to break into minds, to RIP apart the psyche, a different sort of enemy, one that would require another route, a reckless fool's route, a courtiers route, almost word for word what Reese can do right?

And that is Kingdom of Ash Chapter 71. We see Maeve weave illusions for people, plant ideas in people's minds. However, so the quotes for that is she what she does is she rifts into the minds of an entire city of fae to convince them that she's their queen, right? Very similar to Celine and Helena now that I think about it, erasing an entire part of history right? So she came across a lovely long lived people near immortals themselves ruled over by two sisters, Queens, Mavin, Mora, holy gods and using her power she ripped into their minds word for word what Reese does, made them believe they had a sister and eldest sister to roll with them. When they returned to their palace, she tore into the minds of all those who dwelled there

and any who came, planting the thought that a third queen had always existed, always ruled. If they somehow resisted her power, she found ways to end them. A wicked chuckle. And that is Tower of Dawn chapter 49. So Farrah describes her and Reese's power as ripping into Tarkin's mind when they're at the Summer Court. And Farrah also said she was ready to RIP into the minds of the High Lords to bring to get them to bring Reese back to life.

So this is the same power. But what's interesting is that I don't think that Maeve can read minds, because if she could read minds again, she would not have needed to torture Alien to find out where the word he was. So it's like she has part of this power, but not all of this power. Helena and Celine obviously have the mind speak.

Helena and Celine seem to have the exact same powers as Reese. Yeah, Maeve has the planting ideas, planting images, spinning illusions. She also obviously spends illusions with the Cater. How do we say? That word cadre, thank you. Cadre like Padre, the cadre when they are cadre, cadre, OK, you can say it the American way, but you could, I think cadre is accepted.

It's good. Is good when they are fighting her in Kingdom of Ash, right? So she she makes them all kind of live out their worst, their worst nightmares, their worst memories. We've seen the valid Princess do that too, but again, she can't, she cannot read Allen's mind to find out where the words key is. And she can't also like break into her mind and like make her kind of like submit, right?

She has alien torture her, at least Alien specifically. We don't know if there's something specific about Alien, like kind of the way there is about Nesta. We don't know if this is Mala's power or potentially protecting alien. Like I would actually argue that. It kind of has to be Alien specifically and maybe others because she does do that for her sisters. She rips into their minds.

Yeah, Yeah, she does. Like she seems to have full daimati power when it comes to what she had to do with her sisters. So now we have Ailen and Nesta. Yeah, Ailen and Nesta, she manipulated an entire realm into believing that she was just their sisters, like those Queen's sisters the whole time. Yeah, yeah, that is true.

So why not Ailen? Yeah, interesting. So. Right, so why doesn't she just RIP into Ailen's mind and find out where the word keys are? These are the questions that we have for you, Sarah J Maas, if we ever see you in a coffee shop. Sarah, who is Ersten? Why didn't they have just read Ailen's mind? All right, next person I have on this list is Erawan. So as Erawan is dying, he doesn't spin illusions or anything, but he does mind speak with Irene and Dorian. So the quotes we have for that are you have no power over me, Irene said to him into the body that has the parasite of parasites.

I shall RIP you apart, he hissed, starting with that babe. And you're sorry, I realize I'm reading this out loud, but these are not, these are italicized quotes. They are not like it says, he hissed. I'm with you. But like, they're italicized and there's no quotation marks, so I am reading that.

As this is the same thing happened to me last week, the italicized things don't copy over. Really hard to do on an audio format and Dorian and here she's more intentional with the quotes. Dorian said my father's name, his voice did not waver. You took it. That's in quote quotes, all right. He hadn't realized that he wanted it, needed it so badly. And then in italics, A pathetic spineless man arrow on set as you are.

So we've got Starborn Faye, but not really. And now we have Valk. And then of course, we have Lanthus sending Nest to the vision of them ruling the world. And we have Amarin breaking into the minds of the hybrid soldiers and sending them nightmares. I would go so far as to say that like, I would almost put this as blanket Valg power or like Valg Princess and above, because what is the Valg if not taking over your mind? Yeah.

And when Alan is fighting the Valg Princess at Missed Word, like they're sending her visions, like they are manipulating her mind. 100%. Feels like it is derived from, like it is a very meager form of whatever that power is. Yeah, yeah. But there's so many facets to it that I'm wondering if there are different sources of the facets that have been lumped into one thing.

And I'm also wondering if the Star born line and I realized I actually had this in the next, next question, not this question, but like, was the star born line corrupted by hell so fucking early that it's impossible to tell these powers apart at this point? But yeah, All right. So why don't you get more into like what I guess what is de Madi Massford? Before we move off of off of who they who they were, I think you talked about you talked about like the big ones cross series. I would say that even just talking about a court of thorns and roses, the confirmed a Mahdi in the Aqtar series, Reese Farah, of course, both I think clear, pretty clear ties to a Steri and maybe like Reese's recent Ferrer to me are synonymous, right.

Farah has this power because Reese has this power could have ties to the Asteri and tell talk about that in a minute. Dagnan and Brana are the nephew and niece to the king of Highburn. So like, that's a tie to we think, we think the Valg. Yeah, yeah, we think Valg. This mystery de Madi that Amarantha used is tied to Amarantha. Sorry.

And to be clear, there was a mystery de Madi. Amarantha used to shatter the minds of the children in the Winter Court. And this is made clear when they're at the high Lord's meeting and nobody trusts Reese. And Reese basically says Amarantha sent a de Madi to shatter the children's minds in your court.

She wanted you to suspect me to keep us from allying together. And then we you have the suspected de Madi are more Amran and Tamlin, who all do some sort of mind work, but all also could be linked to these otherworldly beings. Yeah. So I think it all still holds, even even within the series, all potential ties to to hell.

To Valk. To Valk, Valk, hell hell Valk, which we are now using interchangeably. They're interchangeable in my mind. I'm so sorry if you don't agree with that theory. OK, what is a de Madi? So we've answered where we think Damati come from. We learn about the Damati formally in Akka Math. And I actually really liked answering this question because I do feel like it got me a little bit closer to an answer as to the difference between glamouring and Damati. Because I do think there's a little bit of a difference. I think Damati just goes a little bit further. I think still people who can glamour and are good at glamouring are probably Damati, but but I think there's a difference, Reese explains being

Damati as walking into minds, like walking into a room and then they can basically do whatever they want with you. Since we're called Damati, those of us who can walk into the another person's mind as if we were going from one room to another, we are rare, and the trait appears as the mother wills it. But there are enough of us scattered throughout the world that many, mostly those in positions of influence, extensively trained against our skill set. If you were to ever encounter a de Modi without those Shields up Farrah, they'd take whatever they wanted. A more powerful one could make you their unwitting slave, make you do whatever they wanted, and you never know it. My lands remain mystery enough

to outsiders that some would find you, among other things, a highly valuable source of information. So. So we also learn that in addition to walking into someone's mind. You already mentioned this, a Damati can lock you into their own if you choose to enter. So that's Reese's first rule right? Don't go into someone's mind unless you hold the way. Open rule #1 He only has 2 rules. It's not a very long list of rules. So that's his first one.

Damati can master different infiltration techniques, which we learned from Reese after Farah uses her Damati abilities combined with her kernel of power from Tarkin to get past Tarkin Shields. So Reese basically congratulates her for figuring this out. He says what a fast learning you are. It takes most Damati years to master that sort of infiltration.

I don't know how Reese knows how long it takes other Damati to master these things or how like these techniques work. I'm assuming Ameren. Yeah. I'm also assuming that his father or mother, somebody else, was a Damati and his family that he studied with, learned from. He also knew that Farah did it so he could feel it happening, which we'll get to in a second. She comments on this.

She says, you knew that I did it. And he just nods. And he said what expert work you did, using the essence of him to trick his Shields. So this to me is actually actually kind of a flag that maybe Reese is actually picking up on more than we're giving him credit for picking up on. You know, he doesn't go into mines without permission, but he's seeing, yeah, he's aware of Damati activity. But I want to learn is a talent of the Damati. They can because of other Damati activity. So Feyer does this in the Supreme Court when she is keeping an eye on the activity of Dagden and Brana. She can basically cast awareness throughout, she says. I'm casting my awareness throughout the Manor, hunting for any sign that Dagdon and

Brana were working their Damati influence on anyone else. So she so Damati can not only walk into minds, do things in people's minds, see things that are happening in other people's minds, but they can also cast like a net of their own mind working abilities and detect other mind working abilities within that area. Which is so interesting when you put it in perspective of who else you might think is a Damati Tamlin they can shield on behalf of other people.

To which I ask, why isn't everyone shielding at? Like why aren't we shielding all of our friends all the time? We learned this when when Farrah says I hadn't felt another touch on my mental barriers or the ones I've been working to keep around as many people here as possible. The constant use of my power is wearing on me.

However, being away from this place four or five days would be a welcome relief. So she is shielding everyone in the all of her friends in the Supreme Court manner from Dagda and Brana because she knows that they're there fishing around for shit. And then of course, we do see probably, I think maybe for the first time, trying to think of a time when Reese really did it. We see fairer exercise complete control in Aqua Worm when she forces Ianti to break her own hand over and over again after she assaults Lucian and doesn't really. It's not super well described in my opinion. Yeah, she describes it as.

I ripped down the shield I'd kept up around her to avoid the twins control and slammed myself into her consciousness. A mask over a face of decay. That's what it was like to go inside that beautiful head and find such hideous thoughts inside it. A trail of mail she'd used her power on or outright force to bed, convinced of her entitle of entitlement of them. I'm sorry.

I pulled back against the tug of those memories, mastering myself. Take your hands off him. She did, on shackling. Lucian's skin drained of color as I Anthony obeyed me, her face queerly vacant. Client. The bluestone shackles thumped to the mossy ground. So once Feyre is in, she's just speaking. Yeah, and Anthea is?

Doing the thing. Doing the thing, yeah. Which I guess is similar to how Reese, like, controlled Feyre's body. So, like, that is a demotic thing. Yeah, yeah, the line you said about a mask over a hideous whatever. Over a face of decay. Yeah, that just seems so valk to me. That's just, it's just like so valk. But I don't think Kathy is a valve. But it's interesting.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it's interesting. Like, I do think I maybe didn't properly appreciate the level of power that's outside of people's minds that Demati can exercise and the fact that it's almost like a network of power that you can detect this Demati ability, which makes it feel even more like it's on its own plane of existence, right?

Like it is this different type of magic that other people can detect if they have it, but it's totally undetectable if people are not of that type of magic. So it doesn't seen like it's Faye. Yeah, and I had two thoughts there. First, responding to what you just said, the Valgar described as having a hive mind.

So I think that totally fits with that idea, right. But this is actually a hive mind thing. My second thing, and I, we can cut this. This might not really matter. I thought about this a lot when I was coming up with my Tamlin is a secret de Madi theory because what Ferra never does is actually go into Tamlin's mind.

She assumes he doesn't have Shields up, right? She assumes that he's vulnerable to Dagdon and Brenna. But she never goes and checks. Same with Lucian which is kind of weird because Reese literally told her that people in positions of power are trained against a mind. So like why did she just assume that they would have no Shields?

Obviously Lucian does not have Shields because fair is able to go in. Yeah, which is kind of shitty because Eris is trained. Eris is trained. Yeah. The other thought I had, we've been saying this whole time that Nesta can resist glamorous. What if it's not Nesta at all? What if it's a Damati somewhere, Like protecting her for whatever reason?

Yeah. I mean, I have no idea who that would be, but yeah, maybe Kostra. I don't know. That's pure speculation, but just a thought. Yeah. Cool. All right. We've talked about the Damati. We have talked about the day, Mahdi. All right, the next question is probably the heart of the matter, I'd say.

I'd say Ronnie, where do Reese's powers come from? It's the heart of the matter. But we also did an entire episode on Reese's lineage, and so we are going to revisit it. It is talking. About him a lot. We've talked about it a lot, so I'm going to try to to keep it to new, but we'll see how that goes.

And I'm sure we both have pretty long answers to this question. OK, where do Reese's powers come from? So I think as just mentioned, we did do an entire episode on Reese's lineage. And so I think we are pretty clear on the fact that Reese's star born and has a steri in his bloodline. Just to summarize, we believe this because we believe that there is Vespers's daughter.

And in my opinion, we actually can pretty succinctly confirm this with the quote from Celine in House of Flame and Shadow that you definitely mentioned. But I think it, I think it's actually the quote that if I had to pick one quote that proves it, I would pick this quote, which is yet when my first son was born, when the babe screamed and the sound was full of night, I brought him to the prison and keyed the words to his blood.

Rhys No one knew that the infant who sometimes glowed with Starlight had inherited it, inherited it from me, that it was the light of the evening star. Vesperus, the dusk star. So like it's the light of the evening Star. Right. And when you meet, when you meet Vesperus, she says I am the. I am the Evening Star. That is it.

The Evening Star is the. Key piece of this theory, yes, I'm sorry, Reese also says the. Prison is the prison is key to his blood, yeah. Yeah, those are the two pieces of evidence that link all of this to Reese's descended from Vesperus. Yes, Yeah. So I think we're clear on the Asteri piece, but I want to revisit his lineage for the sake of this question, specifically because of what we uncovered about Shadows, Hell and Valg in our Azrael episode. I think when we first talked about Reese's lineage, we were wavering a bit or maybe differed in opinion on whether the Valg were Asteri or the Valg were Hell, or was it all the same. And now I think we're aligned that there are like two different races, at least, with

the Valg being like Hell and the Asteri kind of being their own thing. And being starborn means you have a Steri in your bloodline. We're all clear on that. You clear, you keep enough. Is everyone with us still Valg, Hell, Starborn, Asteri? Maybe on the same planet? Two different races for sure in our opinion.

OK great. I think we have to acknowledge the fact that Reese has both Starlight, which is a steri power and also shadows which we think to be this hell slash valg power. There is also night, which does seem to be, in my opinion, the true Fay power like that is I think the dark High Lord of the night core.

Like that is Prithian Fay power. And that is the bloodline that Celine married to. Reece is a confirmed descendant of Celine. We've talked about this who is * born, but Celine also has shadows. So Celine and Helena both are shadow wielders. We know this because in Celine's soliloquy, is that a good word to describe what she did soliloquy?

She basically says that, you know, they wielded shadows, Read shadows. We're nothing but shadows themselves. So Celine and Helena have shadows. We have no reason to believe that Thea or Theon, who are their alleged parents, have shadows of any kind. And something is just off about Celine and Helena in general, right Theon?

When I want to talk, Well, no. No, no, I'm sorry. Several things are off about them, but I want to talk specifically about and I know this is going to be so annoying because these are books and this is not the focus, but I want to talk about coloring, OK? Yeah. Feon is golden haired, Thea is blonde, Helena is night haired and Celine is also dark haired. Celine and Helena both have shadows. Feon and Thea don't seem to adus usually. It also appears as a golden haired blue eyed male. Although we know that princes of hell typically choose how they appear so we're not really sure what their true form is. For the sake of receipts.

Theon is golden haired because in House of flame and shadow. Bryce Bryce Point points to the hologram to golden haired female. Who is he? She asked quietly. There had never been any mention of Fion in the histories of Midgard, the lore, the first and last high king of these lands as real breeds.

So that's Fion, golden haired male. Theo we know is golden haired because Bryce's breath remained caught in her throat. Nesta still is death at her side as the scene shifted to show a golden haired high faith female standing a step behind the Asteris throne. Her chin was lifted, her face as cold as her mistresses.

Celine confirms that this is Thea. Ada's we know is golden hair. We talked about Ada's a bunch, but Ada's is also sorry. Ada's is the Prince of Hell, the Prince of the Chasm. He typically is either presented as a white cat or a golden haired blue eyed man, but the Princess of hell choose their forms, so we don't really know what his true form actually is. Helena is said to be night haired Elena from whose golden skin poured Starlight and shadows. There's those shadows and Celine is dark haired and said to look like Reese's sister.

And Reese's obviously has all of this dark coloring and his parents have this dark coloring and that we have the quote light flared from the star Bryce's feet from her chest, merging and blending. And then a hologram of a dark haired young female high Fey appeared as if she were addressing an audience as real said softly, voice tinged with pain. She looks like Reese and sister.

So the family is not making very much sense. Reese's powers you brought this up are also described almost exactly like Adas's powers when he appears to hunt and Bryce. Adas is said to be quote thrumming with dark power. Reese has. I couldn't even put all the dark power quotes. At least 26. There's at least 26. I have 5 here.

Reese bared his teeth. My limbs turned, light trembling at the dark power curling in the corners of the room. Dark power rumbling the chamber like a cat. Thrilling like a cat. Yeah. Dark power rumbled through the chamber, setting the Onyx chandelier tinkling. A thunderous boom of dark power blasted into high burns. Fleet shattering, shattering, scattering ships, but not many. As if Reese's power is either already nearly spent or Reese shattered through Baron Shield, his fire, his defenses shattering through them like a stone, hurled into a window and slammed his dark power into Baron so hard he rocked back in his seat.

I could go on. Like there's a lot, there's a lot. So lots of parallels between Reese's power and Ada's power. I also think to understand more about Reese we need to look at Maeve because Maeve either seems to have. Maeve has either chosen to embody Celine slash Elena. I don't know which one. I don't know that it matters. Maybe she just is one of them.

But Maeve chose her body. We're told she chose her body. Let's discuss the parallels because they are fucking uncanny. OK and I must confess to you that I accidentally re read Air of Fire in the last 10 days because I went back to read this passage and I fucking love that book so much that I ended up accidentally re reading the entire thing and like half of the one afterwards.

Parallels between Reese and Maeve, OK, they both have Raven hair. Maeve is called a Raven haired beauty, watching her with black depthless eyes. When we meet her in Air of fire, Reese's hair is said to have gleamed like a raven's, feathers offsetting his pale skin and blue eyes so deep they were Violet.

They both have moon white skin, specifically moon white. The queen of the fae remains silent, her long fingers moon white and folded in the lap of her Violet gown. Reese Anne's moon white skin began to darken into nothing but shadow. Maeve allegedly has a beast form, which is interesting, and while we do not see it, we hear it described and it sounds eerily similar to Reese's.

There were legends whispered over fires about the other skin Maeve wore. No one had lived to tell anything beyond shadows and claws and a darkness to devour your soul. And we already talked about Reese's beast form. We don't need to go back over that thing of nightmares. Well, but that is really Maeve's true form, right? Because she's not actually fake.

So it's not a beast form. It's like that is what? Like yeah, that is what it actually. Is her corporeal form her Val? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Her valve form, which maybe is what Reese's beast form is. Again, lots of steri Vogs similarities. Here, yeah there we've talked about this and it's pretty obvious and talked about in the fandom, but they're Damati powers are described very, very similarly.

Maeve's is described as this is when she's taunting Aylin. There was a faint pulse in the air, a throbbing against her blood, a tapping, then a razor sharp slicing against her mind, as if Maeve were trying to cleave open her skull and peer inside. Pushing, testing, tasting. Which is so interesting actually, because it does seem like Aylin almost unknowingly has a mental shield.

Like, why is it pushing? What is it pushing against if she's not trained? Interesting. We're going to have to think about that when we do think about that. That's a follow up. And then Reese's is described as an invisible talent tipped hand scraped against my mind and I knew 1 push one swipe of those mental claws and who I who I was would cease to exist.

These are described the exact same right? Yeah, she is Violet starry eyes like at one point, at one point she is Violet starry eyes. All other times she is she's black, black eyes. But Maeve is eval queen and for whatever reason chose to embody someone who looked and acted very, very similar to, if not recent.

Like, we haven't seen as much of Celine and Helena, but we can probably assume that they were pretty similar. Yeah, so it. Didn't even occur to me honestly, but it's such a good point. Oh, I think yeah, I picture Celine exactly like Maeve's Fay form in my head. And Reese's sister in that case. And Reese's sister, Yeah, yes, yeah.

So she is Valk. We have already talked about the possibility that Adis and Thea, we're not entirely truthful about the timing of their relationship. We only hear about their relationship from Celine, and she confesses to not really knowing when it started or how it came to be. And Celine's the daughter, so she's kind of just like, I don't know, like, my mom didn't tell me everything. Yeah.

Which is kind of sad when you think about it. You think about the possibility that perhaps Ada's is in fact her father, which would make a heck of a lot more sense as to where Reese's shadows in particular and kind of darkness came from. Think it I think it has to be because exactly what you said. So we talked about it in a cosm.

I think in more I think in our more episode because we had recorded our Azrael episode and I was like holy shit we forgot about two very important shadow wielders. Thea sends Helena and Celine to the Esteri palace because they have the power of the shadows. I believe there is a quote where where Thea talks about needing Helena and Celine because they have the mix of the darkness and the light.

Which is interesting, right? Because Thea clearly has the light. Vesperus says Thea needs the light. So why, if she has the light, does she not have the darkness too if these are her daughters? And we're not told that Fionn has any sort of darkness to him? Like there has to be something here. There has to be something here that is interfering with Helena and Celine. Maybe interfering is the wrong word, but certainly influencing Helena and Celine's power.

And it seems like that is either Valg or Hell or the same because it seems like Valgan how it might be the same. So I think, I think it has to be and I think it has to have started at that. Early, right, Definitely. I'm more, I think the open question that I have that I definitely don't have an answer to is I think we, we just don't know. Not much about Fion.

We don't know that much about Fion. One of our discourters pointed this out to me and I thought it was a great fucking point. The Celine story, the way the Celine story is communicated, the way it is passed down through centuries, the way it is like playing out in like a video format almost is like so similar to Elena Elena's story in front of glass, right? And we find out there is a huge right. I know Celine and Elena 11 and sorry, Elena and Helena is swimming wild.

Elena and Helena there's a huge lie in Elena's story, right? There's a huge piece missing, which is that they made the bargain with the gods and that Mala was her mother. Like this is all a big piece of this. So the livelihood if we're following that same patterns that we have not gotten the full story from Celine, Celine, Celine from Selena from Selena. So that's that's what I think.

I think it has to be that. And guys, we don't have the proof here. We're just following kind of the bread crumbs that she's left. But yeah, I mean, I think basically at some point the shadows interfered in this line. And I think it was very, very, very early on. The only thing I would add here, let me see.

Oh, the quote is here. My mother eventually trusts. I had the fucking quote the whole time, my event. My mother eventually trusted only Helena and myself to seek the truth. She knew we could be of great use to her because we bore both the shadows as well as Starlight. So Thea doesn't have these shadows. Thea doesn't have them, right?

It's just Helena and Celine. And also like what is Thea playing at? Like that I don't know why didn't they ask more questions? Where did the shadows come from? Hey mom, you have Starlight. Why do I have shadows? Like, yeah, what is that? Didn't have shadows. Why do I have shadows? Why do I have black hair?

Who's my father? To be fair, Vasperis does have black hair, so it could have just skipped a generation. But it's a good point though, and you, I wrote this down in my notes, but you made a great point about Nick's right. Farah has a baby with wings because she was, she had wings when the baby was conceived. So I think that is the way that genetics work in this world, that whatever body you're wearing, basically when you conceive a child, those are the genetics that are passed down. So, but what do you what?

Who was shifting? If ATIS looks different is what I'm saying. Like if ATIS or Apollyon. I'm assuming that. Or anyone? Yeah. Yeah, I'm assuming that ATIS it was in a different form. The big outlier here, the big question here is Bryce, right? Because Bryce does not have the shadows. Bryce does not have the mind speaking. And more specifically, Ember the Big. Question Ember Bryce is seemingly descended from this line as well.

So is it just that Bryce didn't get those powers? Because we know, as we have with Lydia, that Lydia servos that like sometimes you just don't get certain powers that your parents have. Like her mother was a witch, but she didn't have the witchy power. So is that just what's happening here? We're also told that somehow she has Thea Star though, and not like Helena Star. And I don't really get how that works yet. And again, this is not our Crescent City season, but Rune Rune, the line ran true with Rune, right? And the line ran true with Evelyn, so for some reason it seemed like it didn't with Bryce. So I don't know, could be nothing but. I just had kind of a maybe something, maybe nothing. Thought so.

An alias? Esperus says that truth teller was an alias dagger, right? I'm 99% sure that somewhere Celine says that Fionn's best friend carried truth Teller. Yeah, carried truth teller, which like then is an alias. His his generals. Dagger Yes, yeah, yes. What if? Annalius was fucking Annalius. Yeah, what if Annalius is the Father?

Because Annalius had to be dark colored. Yeah, Annalius had to be dark colored. I don't think we. Know that, but yeah, I mean, I would like that. And then so and we think Annalius was Prince of Hell or Prince of Hell. Yeah. So interference could have been yeah, at play. Yeah, could be. I really hope people can follow for a fucking second.

Sorry, guys. Sorry guys. All right, so in conclusion, he's definitely star born. Think the powers are leading us to believe he's Val, But we don't have a smoking gun the way we do with the Evening Star quote. Or if we do, we haven't found it. If you have found one, please let us know. We'd love to hear.

But don't just tell us that he has purple eyes the way that Maeve has purple eyes, OK? We know that we need something. We need something stronger. Yes, yes. Cool. OK, I hope that was clear. Clear as mud. Great. Moving on, Abby, what is significant about Reese's sapphire eyes? All right, I treated this question as a sapphire eye deep dive.

Same, because obviously, obviously we have a lot of characters with sapphire or sapphire adjacent eye. So I've made a list. I don't have a strong hard answer here. I have made a list, but I think we should go through it. All right, So obviously Reese. Quote for that. Hi, Faye. No doubt his short black hair gleaned like a Raven.

So there's blah, blah, blah. Blue eyes so deep they were Violet. You get it. Run. I don't think we need to go through this. Bryce thinks that Ruin is Reese's brother when she sees him. Maeve, we just talked about. This is where it starts getting fun. Marian. Our man. Dorian. I love Dorian so much. All right, we have a bunch of quotes about his sapphire eyes, all from thrown glass.

Chapter 1. All right, I think she wanted us to notice that he has sapphire eyes. Dorian strode to his throne and sat down, his sapphire eyes bright. If you decline. Dorian said, anticipating her next question. You'll remain in Endovier. His sapphire eyes became hard and she swallowed. A pair of Ebony boots stopped before her, and the dogs immediately calmed and sat.

Selena lifted her gaze to find the sapphire eyes of the Crown Prince of Aderlin Otterlin. Fuck, I don't care. Studying her face, we have Dorian. Then we have Gavin, which is fucking wild. Gavin. Gavin is all of you who don't remember the first King of Aderlin. We know that Gavin and Dorian have the same eyes because Dorian summons Gavin from beyond the grave and he says the first King of Aderlin had his eyes. Or rather, Dorian had Gavin's eyes passed down through the 1000 years between them.

So we are told that genetically that is where Dorian gets his eyes from. So those are our sapphire Violet eyes people. And then we have some people who have deep, deep blue eyes, but they're not specifically described as sapphire necessarily. So those people are Adis, who we just talked about. South Adis is said to have eyes like blue opals.

The quote for that is Adis's blonde hair fell to his shoulders and soft waves loose yet well cut around his fine bone face doubtedly to show off the eyes like blue opals framed by thick golden lashes. Those lasses bobbed once in a cursory breath through that is earth and earth and blood. Chapter 51 And then in another section of 51, we have his blue Opal eyes narrowed to slits, then simmered like the hottest flame. What are you doing with a black crown around your bra? Your said bra.

You did. I'm leaving that in. That's great. OK. All right, and then the next person we have is Vesperus. So as if an answer to Azrael's question, the female in the coffin opened her eyes. They were crushing blue and they gold blue simmer blue fire simmered in the creature's eyes. That traitorous bitch will be dealt with after I handle you.

That's both the House of Flame and Shadow Chapter 24. So we have, this is what I have for the list we have and it's Steri who we think was the source of the Starborn line on Midgard and Perithean. So that could explain Reese's and Rune's eyes. We think that she was the originator of that genetic line, right?

We have a Prince of Hell who we think may be intermingled with the Starborn line on Midgard and Perithean. We have a Val Queen who 100% had no children. All right, so like very specifically, Maeve has no children. She said she did not allow her womb to ripen and then she died, right? So like Maeve is not on the genetic table here, I don't think. Other thing about those 3 is that all of these beings have chosen this form.

It's not genetic, but let's just keep that in mind right now we have the most powerful High Lord, High Lord, whoever lived, who is definitely part of that Starborn line, A fae Prince who has part of that Starborn line, and a human king who has insanely powerful raw magic and who seemingly has no connection to the Starborn line, but who may be the descendant of an Asteria and Avowed. And then we just have a random human king. So.

Yeah. And for Dorian? Honorable Mentions. Yeah, go for it. We also have Lauren has deep blue eyes. Yeah. Grandmother. Yeah, of course. We also have, I don't know whether you caught this one, whether he qualifies. Falcon, he catcher who sold 20 years of his life for spider silk, has midnight sapphire eyes, so very dark eyes.

Did a deal with a Valg spider. So. I don't know if there's really a pattern here other than like. The only thing, the only thing I think that I'm confident about three of these people and and by people I mean Faye, who are actually this is genetic, is that they are all offspring of or descendants of a Steri and Valk, I think.

For Dorian, how? How is? Because he is also Mala's descendant, right? He is also in Mala's line and we're saying the Asterio. Sorry, let's throw in one more thing guys. The Asterio, the throne of Glass Gods, a Steri, Star War and throne of was God. Yeah, add that to the. Right, so, so Dorian is also of Mala's line and his father of course was infested by Valk. So he potentially is that mix of a Steri and * Steri and Valg Reese.

We just went over how we think is a mix of Hysterian valve. Same with Rune again, Bryce being the outlier here because she has whiskey eyes. And so I don't know how that this works. I don't know what the fuck is going on with Bryce's family tree and genetics, but that is kind of my my thinking at this point.

And this is a huge could be something, could be nothing situation as far as I can tell. I mean, I, I feels like there are certain situations where it is certainly something like the Reese Maeve Dorian thing feels weird. Yeah. And that's all one thread like that's all the common a Steri Val situation.

Well, Maeve's just. Val Maeve is valid, but she chose it. Yeah. Yeah, she's copycat. You're really making me think about the Maeve and Celine or Maeve and Helena thing. I'm kind of spiraling over it, but I'm kind of saving the Throne of Glass. Yeah, there's a lot of things for Throne of Glass now that I accidentally reread Air Fire.

I have the exact same thing. OK, same people. List of people, some connections, some clearly genetic, some just selected. Yeah. Selected OK, so this is not necessarily a big Answers episode, but that's because we've already given you a lot of these answers. I thought it was fun. It's a good time. All right.

You know any precod precod corner? My pre cog corner? I had a pre cog corner and it was so much worse than a cosm pre cog corner that I got that. I'm making the cosm pre cog corner my pre cog corner. So this is not my theory. This is our best friend LMNOP's theory. All right, real quick. Also I'm sorry I forgot to explain if you're new here pre cog corners where we say our wildest theories with absolutely no, well not no evidence but we have not done the homework.

That we do like one piece of evidence, yeah, there's like 1 little. Quote or something. One shred of evidence. So that is, and it would be crazy, yeah. So we have talked about on this podcast the theory that is not unknown in the fandom, that Lauren Roone's mother could have been Reese's sister.

And I think we've actually taken it a step further and that we have suspected that Tamlin's father might have been involved with some cross world trading for the sake of breeding because Einar is obsessed with breeding power into the feline in Midgard because he's panicking about it going away. So we know that Lauren was selected for breeding.

For breeding. No, Lauren. We know that Lauren, we know that Lauren was selected for breeding. Her breeding resulted in Rune God word breeding is so gross. So that that all happened. We don't know that it's Reese's sister. We don't know that Reese's sister is still alive. That is very much a theory. Reese's sister was killed by allegedly killed by Tamlin's father and brothers.

LMNOP brought up the possibility that perhaps Moore was on the same trading circuit for breeding, meaning that Baron, who is also who is Autumn Court right and Einer is the Autumn King over in Midgard, was also involved with this cross world trading situation. And so Eris getting to marry more was not about Eris at all. It was not a bride for Eris necessarily at all. It was a trade.

It was meant for more was meant to go over to to Midgard to breed into einers line. And so she was meant to do that just like we're theorizing Reese's sister was. And that would also explain why they couldn't touch her and couldn't take responsibility for her because what she did in fucking Cassian was basically breaking a cross world deal.

And so if they interfered and took responsibility for her, they would be seen as the people who participated in the fallout of this cross world deal. And I thought it was really interesting that more could also be on the same. It makes sense. She was of the same type of person as Reese's sister. Probably more valuable, honestly, because Reese's sister was half Elyrian.

Yeah. So this gets into, I think that too, the whole question, which I didn't even really think of a question, was a question. But people brought up like, are Moore and Reese actually related? I think they are actually related. Like, that is my understanding. I think they're actually related too. Yeah.

But we got a lot of people on Instagram being like, no, he means she's her cousin. Like he like he means the Illyrians are her or his brothers. I'm like, wouldn't she call her his sister then? Like, why would he call her his cousin? Like, that's a little weird. I think they're actually related. I have questions about like their relation specifically. Like he says, he says that they're cousins in the loosest definition, but then he says they were raised together, but it didn't seem like they really were. So like, I don't know.

I definitely think that it's, it's odd and it raises eyebrows, but I don't know. I think they're probably related. OK so the theory if I'm tracking is or maybe I'm making maybe I'm conjecturing, but basically Miner wanted someone starborn. Baron suspected that Moore was starborn because he seems to know things or Eris seems to know things. Aaron knows that the prison was a palace right? So they in theory have more insight into the Starborn lineage.

They were going to send more to Midgard. It didn't happen. Moore fucked Cassie and instead that fell through and when that fell through they were like oh shit we need to Plan B. Let's take Reese's sister. I don't know that the two necessarily need to be interrelated, but I think because autumn and spring were close, it's a it's a fair summary.

I would. I don't know that I'm doing Denise justice here. They're a theory about Reese's sister calls into question whether there is regular trade between Prythian and Midgard for women for the sake of breeding power back into the fae line and Midgard. Starborn being a focus. The Night Court specifically is linked to the Starborn line, so Reese's sister and more both fit that bill more. While maybe a little bit older, I actually don't know how. Yeah, I don't know how old.

Moore is. I thought they were both older than. I think they're both still 500. Yeah. Yeah. Moore would also have been a candidate for that trading. And so Moore being married off to Eris was actually being traded off. She ruined the trade. Eris couldn't help her because then he would have partaken in a fallen through trade and messed everything up.

I. Think it's interesting. Could also be why voices were foreign because they're not of this world. That would be interesting. I think my when Bryce gets back to the Autumn Court or sorry, when Bryce gets back to the Autumn King study, he says, I think you came from somewhere that I have been trying to find for like centuries at this point.

That's not the exact quote, but it's something like that, right? So I think I still think that it is possible that. They've never actually exchanged. Well, I still think it's possible that Tamlin's sister somehow ended up in in Midgard, but I think Baron being super or sorry, Einer being super involved, Autumn King being super involved is probably not what happened.

But I do think that that part is still possible. But it could be. I like the thought process. I like fearing. I like Thanks, Denise. Thank you, Denise. Yeah, no, I like like it. I just think the Autumn King specifically was like I I'm looking for it, but I like haven't found it. And obviously the astir maybe more of an either.

Was the one who was successful because he was the one who ended up. With that, I buy more that I would buy more that it was more of an A, not the king of Avalon, for people who are wondering. Yeah, that I would kind of buy a little bit more because it's a thin place, right? Avalon's a thin. Place.

So yeah, if it's the king of if it's the king of Avalon, King Morban, yeah, we don't know anything about him saying that he hasn't been able to find it. And they also seem way more powerful, frankly. Yeah, OK, cool. I buy it more if it's Morban, that works. OK, cool. My precog is also about Crescent City and I think I texted you this so says that Thea needs the power of the horn and the harp. This is about big universe questions. Blaine says that Thea needs the power of the horn and the harp to open to open portals between worlds. So the quotes for that is.

Remembering the teachings of her former mistress, my mother knew she might wield the horn and the harp to open a door to bring the fate of new heights, new wealth and prestige. This. Chapter 19 of Flame and Shadow And then my mother did not question Peleus, her conspirator and ally, when he told her to will the horn and the harp to open a doorway to this world. And then when she is opening a portal to hell. Thea nodded once slowly as if making a decision and then played the horn and the harp, right. So it's always the horn and the harp when Thea is opening a portal, whether it's to hell or to Midgard or back to Prythian. But when Bryce comes to Prythian, she only uses the horn, right?

The harp is nowhere to be seen. And not only that, Ridgilis says that Bryce can open a portal using just the horn, right? He's never like, oh, we need to find the harp. Like Ridgis is like, I want you to open a portal to me, to the Faith Fay homeworld. Like, at no point is he like, oh, we need the harp. We need the harp, right?

Yeah. So why does they use both the horn and the harp? The harp can open doors, but it also says it says about itself. I can move through space and eons and the 26th string is time, right? So I think when you use the harp and the horn to open a portal, then you are traveling through space and time.

But when you use just the harp, sorry, just the horn, you are only traveling through space, which I think could deal with some of these timeline weirdnesses that we are having potentially. What does that say then about about when Thea has traveled? Like when have we traveled with the harp and the horn that we would need to be concerned about from a timeline perspective? I don't know but I already.

Have yet? I don't think we have yet because we haven't traveled across worlds with the harp and the horn yet. Right. But why sometimes you need the harp and the horn? And why sometimes you only need the horn, right? What is the difference between those two things? Interesting, so the horn basically just takes you through the fabric of worlds on your existing plane of time, but wouldn't it mean that the harp should also?

Be able to do it. Be able to do it. Because it's 26 strings. And and it they owe it opens doors. I know, I don't know. We will do a Trobe episode at some point. Yeah, well, and like it, it obviously doesn't, or it obviously needs something else with it. Whether that's power or power of the horn, I don't know.

But like Nesta plucks multiple strings and ends up in still in Prythian. So yeah, clearly. Yeah, you know, interesting. Yeah, I don't know. That's my thought. All right. What are you reading? I am just starting my Quicksilver reread. Oh fun, I read. Did I already say that I finished the Shepherd King duology? Yeah.

You said it last. I think it did last time. Oh yeah, because since then I accidentally read Air of Fire and Queen of Shadows. I just accidentally read Air of Fire. It was an. Accident. It was an accident. It's my favorite. I know that it's a controversial part of their story, but I I love the beginning of Rowan and Alan, which a lot of people don't, but I really do.

So once I started reading, I read it, I started reading it for Maeve for this, and then I couldn't stop. And then it was 2 books later and I was like wow, I could have gotten so much more done. You know that like social media like trend, like when he says he loves you, but like Zayden Reorson said this or like row it or recent said that and it was like when he says he loves you, but Rowan would but Rowan literally, and that it was like a long pause that it says punched her in the face. Yeah, he did punch her in the face. He did punch her in the face.

Yeah, he was a broken man. It's OK, no one's out here screaming about how Rowan's evil, so you know. I mean, they're also related. There's a lot of things that we just decided to turn a blind eye to, and here we are. Look, she, she, she changes. Sometimes we're growing. That's why sometimes we're growing that way.

It's whatever. What are you reading? I have set myself up for, I think, complete failure here. So my goal, here's what's happening in my world right now. I'm currently reading One Dark Window. I have recently finished Kiss of the Bass List. What's just I think I will talk more about in our next episode.

I've recently finished Kiss of the Bass List. I am now reading One Dark Window in one week. The Kiss of the Bass List sequel comes out on November 11th. On November 18th, Brimstone comes out. I would like to, in this time before November 18th, finish One Dark Window read Between 2 Kings, which is the Kiss of the Bass List sequel. So we weed Quicksilver and then reverse John and I don't know if I could do it.

I don't know if you can do it. But I'm gonna try. I think you can. I think you will. You just like won't really get anything else done. Yeah, and I don't need to. Who cares? Work, work, work. And sometimes I still read the spell shop when I want to go to sleep. Yeah, the spell shop is your sleep book.

It's my. Sleep. Good. OK. It's good, it's lovely, but it's like, it's like a gentle lullaby of a book, you know? Yeah. Which is good cuz I can just kind of pick it up at any point in time and be like, Oh yeah, I remember exactly what's going on here. She sells jam. That's what's going on. She's selling jam, jam, jam.

OK, yeah, that's pretty much it. All right. We are on social media. We are dragging in the details pod on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. What we are drag us in the details server on discord. We've got a great discord. We get a lot of our cosms from there. As you guys can possibly probably guess, drag us in detailspod@gmail.com.

Great comment scribe subscribe review and we will be back next week with our Reese deep dive Part 2. Love you, bye. Love you, bye.
