Thank you. hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome back to travis told you october 13th on a fuck on tuesday i was gonna say monday oh my god i'm all messed up as you can see i'm really messed up here hang on get this out i got you're getting hat travis and you're getting cardigan travis um uh what was i gonna say oh yeah last week both times why did it happen Why did it happen? Oh, man, I can't remember. But anyways, last week, I was supposed to do Trez Told You. I'm going to at least do two this week. And then I was going to do this on Wednesday. I still might do one tomorrow.
We'll see. Yeah, we'll especially see now. I got the twins home. I've had them home on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and then Monday, Tuesday. Last week was other reasons. Now, they got a hand, foot, and mouth. Not great, you know? So right now, they're sleeping. So We're going to see what's going to happen here. They're sleeping. I want to do this because there was this big rumor going around last night. Anytime it's Batman, you know, that's where, that's where, you know, it's just like, that's why for my promotion, I use the Keaton, like one of the great shots of all time for Batman Returns, right? The bat signal goes up and he looks up and he's just sitting there waiting, waiting for something to go wrong, right? That's me.
What Travis told you, if there's Batman news, you can, you can guess that I'm going to be there. But yeah, that's what we're going to talk about today. We're talking about some uh, there is a rumor about Batman being a man of tomorrow. We'll break that down from like a, a better tiered source person. Uh, we got some details on man of tomorrow and how it's pretty much, we kind of thought this, but very much a justice league movie, a clay face track and slowing down. And I'll give you some of my light thoughts on Carrie. So we've read Mike asked the question at, well, actually Mike, what I'll, we'll see if I have time. Cause literally days are sleeping.
If they wake up, that's a, that's my out. So Mike, if I don't talk about it today, which actually I don't think I will, I'll keep this shorter. Mike, I'll probably talk about that on Weekly Geek tonight. I'm going to put the post out after on Patreon to ask questions. Our whole schedule got messed up because Vision Quest moved a day before, so I mapped out the entire next two months. There's supposed to be a Weekly Geek tonight, and then there's supposed to be a bunch of other stuff, and then we're going to do Vision Quest tomorrow. So no, what we're doing is we're reviewing Vision at 8, at least me and Taylor. Kirk is not available. Dylan's iffy.
And then after that, we're going to do Weekly Geek. So kind of like what we did with Euphoria or Lanterns, you know, kind of a hybrid thing where There'll be separate episodes and we're going to record them at separate times. But tonight we will do a weekly geek because we've got tons of trailers to talk about Narnia. And I can't fucking wait to talk about Exorcist Martyrs. What else is there? River. I can't wait to talk about that.
There's some good stuff. So yeah, we're going to do a weekly geek on television. So very busy. Obviously we were gone for the past few days because it was Thanksgiving for Canada. So I, you know, shout out to all my Canadian brethren and sistren and everyone in between. If you are Canadian and celebrate Thanksgiving. Hope you had a good time. I ate way too fucking much. I'm really worried. Last week I got to celebrate, you know, humblebrag.
I've lost 21 pounds since last September. That's a good thing for me because one, I'm hoping some of the muscles there, but my metabolism is some of the worst in the world. But I've been doing the whole picture side by side. It's like, okay, I can really see it. So I was like celebrating and then boom, Thanksgiving came and rocked me. Lots of pumpkin pie, lots of desserts, but let's get into the news. Let's talk about Batman and and DCU, and tons of Clayface, too, stuff going on today. Matt Reeves is talking a lot about Clayface. So, yeah, lots of good stuff going on. So, yeah, tonight at Vision at 8 p.m., and then a newscast right after.
And then SideQuest this week. There'll be a Street Fire review with me and the Gimmick Boys, so look out for that. And I think there's going to be a weekly geek on Thursday with Kirkland and Dillon, so look out for that. And before we get into this more, the only thing I'll promote is, if you want this episode out of free, everything, go to Patreon, but most importantly, November 7th. Extra Life. We're staying up for 24 hours straight trying to raise funds for BC Children's Hospital. All the funds go towards kids and families in need, whether it's for surgery, recovery, research. The link is down below.
It shows you where all your money goes. We're going to have tons of unlocks that we're going to start announcing soon. We've got tons of events. We put on a show for 24 hours. I know lots of people just sit around and play games. Sometimes we do that. We get a little tired, but we try to give you a spectacle. This is our 10th one. We're going to try to make it very special. Tons of guests.
Tons of events from the past, present, So, yeah, it's going to be a good time. I'd very much appreciate it. And if you can't donate, we understand. Times are tough. Then come share the link. Come join us, be in the comments, and push us forward. So, yeah, it's going to be a really good time. It's not that long away, so look out for that. So, this came from a source that I'd say is, like, it's tough, right? Because it's going to say, like, oh, I need an in-between of C and C +, but I can't. Because, like...
We already got C, C plus, and C minus. So you can't get any more. So I will give this person a C plus. And I will, I can't remember the whole name. Is this like James Mackle or something? It's definitely one of those like internet scoopers. Something's right, something's wrong. But this person got a lot right around the time as far as some of the, God, what is it? What's this movie coming out? Doomsday. The Doomsday leaks.
And there's a lot of things that they had said earlier. There's a discord. I mean, that kind of tracks the scooper stuff. And it's like, okay, where are they? And then I follow it for a few months, and then it's enough that I go, okay, there's definitely some validity that I think this could be the case towards, right?
And also, with this baton one in particular, you don't know if it's just kind of for performance or not. They put it up, and then they pulled it down. But someone, of course, did get the tweet, and you can't delete it. You can only delete some of it. It's like seconds long, I imagine, on Twitter. But let's break this down and break it down. If I believe it, the likelihood, if it'd be a good thing. So let's see.
So I guess there's a few things to this, because something came out last week that wasn't big enough for a full show, but it definitely plays into this, right? So let me get these two... Oh, I forgot to do open a new tab book. So this was the actor playing the DCU Batman will be revealed in Man of Tomorrow. Bruce Wayne appears at the end or in a post-credits scene directly sending up Raven Bolt. So could I believe... all like, could I believe that? Sure. I could believe Batman could pop up at any point. I would say for the, like, so I guess if it's just a yes or no, like, or even if it's a BS me or what's my percentage on this, it's, it's pretty high. I had heard that from a couple other people. I trusted it as well about that. And
as I said before, I don't know anybody big, like connect to the production. No, the people I know is like, I know a guy who knows a guy knows guy. So that's what I'm, you're never seeing me being like, I'm a geek for Sega exclusive. No, it's just, okay. I've heard that. And I've heard that. So it's like, okay, sure. Um, But the reason I think this tracks, and what I've kind of pitched for a while, and that's what we thought with the Affleck stuff, right? And this came from another C-tier earlier this week, where the Batman, Brave, and the Bold production is expected to begin late 2027. No actors have been cast yet. It's still unclear whether Annie Muschietti is attached to the product. The studio is being
very cautious with the character and fully understands how Batman is important to the DCU. And yet Deadline reported last week when they that terrible title, the Bane Deathstroke movie called Savage Hunters, it was like, here's the projects there, heavily going on for development, and Brain in the Bowl was still in there, right? So, yeah, Deadline Report, the project is in early development, but it's reportedly further along than that, so there you go. I do believe this, because I still think that is the best case if gone, and we don't know what's going on with Reeves and the Batman 2, and if there'll be a Batman 3, whatever, but let's say that just runs, let's say that gets back on track, they start to put that out there,
it's very much like we had with go back to the very first fandom right you had justice league which obviously the scenario cut was already something filmed it was a new cut but still it's a new you know new justice league movie with batman and then that same fandom we had the batman preview right i think that's a lot easier for the audience as well now again i've always said before if if this is true about them filming in 2027 um late 2027 right batman 2 if it stays on track comes out february 2028 So that's where that would make sense to me where that comes out 28. And then the next, you know, the DC Batman comes out in 2029. You would not want to put them on the same year. I know I've seen some people run with that. It's like, I don't
think so. Even just for marketing, right? Like I'm down to see them do the separate films very close together. But I think within the same years, you're kind of asking for trouble. And just even budgetary wise, I don't know if you can do that, right? But I could believe that. And then so what? You have Man of Tomorrow come out in 2027. You set up Batman, and then maybe he appears in something else, especially like Savage Hunters.
I don't know. It just sounds like an edgelord sort of title, but especially that, right? Why do I have my chair positioned like this? I'm sitting on a dialogue. I got no underwear or lingerie there on the bed. I'm on the bed cast. I think that you could introduce them there, right? So I think if I'm doing a percentage on that, I'm a high... I'm like an 85 now, because I do think you kind of have to get going, and I've always given Gunn a lot of credit for this, especially the more we learn about the delays it feels like a lot of delays are because of personal reasons for Matt Reeves that's something we're putting like critiques I have Gunn as a person that's a really in my opinion we don't know all those
things but I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that's a really cool thing when we had the past few studios where someone lost their daughter and And Ben Affleck talked about this this week, right? Go watch that interview with Josh Horowitz. He talks about a lot of stuff. Ben Affleck's a fascinating guy. I'd love to talk to Affleck. Love to talk to him.
But he talked about just how gross that situation was, right? That's where with Gunn, he really, other than... Some business-wise, of course, the Batman was a hit, but with all his delays and stuff, you could easily probably go into a studio and have Zazz off or whatever and been like, X, Y, and Z. We want to get doing our own thing.
We're going to have to part ways. And they maybe even could understand Especially if it's not connected to the DCU. And that'd be it too. If it is connected to the DCU, yeah, take your time. It's not. It's its own separate thing. Even though I will say these interviews with Matt Reeves and the guy that's playing Clayface, they're not confusing. They're just confusing me of like, it feels like that situation where I can't remember who it was. Oh, I can't remember how we got there. We talked about it once that like somehow it came, not came out.
It was either rumored or someone liked a post where something like either Sweeney thought or insinuated it was in the MCU, like, uh, Madam Web, and that's where, like, I wonder, do these agents, when they, you know, get these projects, do they just go to their clients that are very much on the know and just go, like, this is a Marvel project, or, oh, let's connect this, it's separate, but still for Sony, same thing, do they just go to Tom Rice, oh, you're playing Batman villain, and then when, because he's like, oh, I'd love to work with, uh, Colin Farrell, and that'd be great, we talked about this and that, we talked about the Batman situation, so it's like, alright, and Matt Reeves, like, and, again, I, again,
I'll give him credit, all this stuff. But James Gunn said like, oh, the script was always going to be a DCU. It was always DCU. Let me see. I'm not going to bring that up. Gunn says what he says, right? But paraphrasing, he said like, oh, it was always DCU. Reeves revealed today that like after the Batman, he like met up with Flanagan. They gave this idea. Now, granted, the DCU was not around, but I'm assuming it was not written with the idea of being a connected universe. So, That's my thing with Gunn. There's always these weird kind of white lies, right? But with this situation, what a great guy to be like, hey, we're going to delay.
It would have been different if there was a different timeline where the Batman 2 had already come out. But he, to me, being a good guy, personal reasons, delays it, right? The more you delay it, the more it is like, hey, where is Batman in DC? Which I'm fine not getting. We got lots of Batman. We can wait. But I understand as a company, other fans, they want them interacting with these characters, right? So to me, I've always thought if you, and I want to see it. I want to see the Batman come out 28, and then I want to see Braden Bull come out 29, because I want to see. I want to see what the audience does.
Because if they're successful, that is a way of showing which I would like to happen is Elseworlds or What If in live action. I always thought Joker was going to be the pathway, but that made a billion. I thought, oh, and even Todd Phillips pitched that, right? He said, well, what if we do Black Label? I'm like, oh, well, let's wait, and they never got around to it. That, to me, is something where I would love to see another Clayface. I think I'd be more excited for it.
I'm excited enough, but I'd be more excited if it was just like an Elseworlds. Because I trust them a bit more than the Sony stuff, right? But that's like a specific take, where the Sony stuff always feels like, are you not connected because Fi is saying no? Or you guys made a deal? Where this would be like, hey, specifically we're making a movie that's its own thing, right?
Own universe. So that's where if the Batman Part 2 comes out and Brain the Bull comes out and they're both successful, you can make a case. Guns could start making a case being like, you know what? We could start tinkering that stuff. I get early on why you don't want to do black label, right? Because you don't want to confuse the audience per se. But, you know, most people should be smart enough that you can just quickly explain it. Superman Mike says, Batman Wonder Woman introduced in the same movie. BBS take two. Yeah, it's going to be interesting. And it's hard to... It's hard not to.
I kind of understand. It's not not to, but in the situation we got to. Because with the Matt Reeves Batman, you can't really bring in the Batman right now. They just don't really want to. And with Wonder Woman, you could have done a solo Wonder Woman maybe for Man of Tomorrow, but maybe things just didn't line up. I don't know. Maybe it was the same thing. They weren't sure what to do with the Gal Gadot situation. I really don't know. So it is, but I do think it will be done in a different way. I do think Wonder Woman will have a smaller role. And then I do think that Batman, obviously, if it's appearing at the end or an end credit, obviously a small role, right?
In my opinion, you have to have him at the end of this. An end credit is, obviously, you do lots of, you can do big stuff, but what? Man of, or Superman didn't have a big end credit. That was a very disappointing, it was a gag, right? Okay. Supergirl, I don't think had one. Lanterns didn't have one. Maybe Commandos did, but like, There might be some end credits, but you're not really establishing, and maybe Clayface will, you're not really establishing, as of right now, the MCU is like, oh, you gotta watch the end credits. Now, someone might say, hey, that's the way to do it, right? Establish, hey, you should've stayed for the end credits a minute tomorrow, because there was Batman. Sure. I would not do that for
if you're trying to get the general audience hype, because in the same way, even Marvel movies, we talk about this all the time, opening night, those two be like, 25% theater leaving, like, people, like, whether they don't care, or they just don't know, they'll leave after an end credit, to me, with Batman being there, you want that to be the, the last scene, you want that to come out, and, like, that's the last thing you walk away with, or one of the last things, right, and that goes, oh, that's Batman, that's fucking Batman, right, you want, you want that, you can get that as the end credit, but I just feel like you want to have as much eyes as possible, even though some might go, well, it didn't work out,
I understand, I thought the way of, doing it with Supergirl, I thought was natural in the movie, and I thought it was a good introduction. Clearly, you know, box office says otherwise, but, you know, Derek M. says, here for Batman of tomorrow. I think a lot of people are. Man, tomorrow's going to be a soft launch for the entire Justice League. Yeah, Clay, we'll talk about that in a second, because I got the other details. So, which I agree with, right?
Because at first, I went, oh, why don't you just call this Justice League? But I guess they want to wait until they got all the main members. So, sure, I understand. But I, so I'm confident it's going to happen. I think you should do it in the The last scene. And I appreciate, too, the sentiment that they want to use it as the launching pad and reveal the actor there. Now, it's going to leak before. There's really no way. So you can show this movie. Even test screens, you could show it without it. Right. But that's if everyone forgets.
That's how Barry leaked as the Joker. Right. When he was cast, he's always just like a sheriff or cop or whatever. And up until like a few months before Batman came out, they screen tested and cause they were doing like a cut with the Joker and without the Joker. And to me, I always was like, you know what you have to do reason company, you sit down with everybody at Warner brothers or other filmmakers and go, Hey, can you watch this cut? Which one works better? If the Joker's there, I don't think you risk like, Hey, you know, like, of course, like the, I think the audience will on the Joker, but still like you, you sometimes some things, if you're trying to keep a surprise, right.
Keep those to yourself. Now, again, did most of the general audience know that Joker was going to be in that? No. But we talked about it going into it, right? Like, we knew it was out there. So the same thing is, like, the actor will leak. It would be great if we lived in a world where it did not leak. And the first time we're watching Batman, it's going to come up, boom. Oh, hi, I'm Bruce Wayne. It's like, oh, wow, that's really cool.
We don't get many of those surprises. And when they try, Jean Grey, that's spoiled. If Adre Adrona is one of them, that's spoiled, right? little things. There's only times where you can get away with it, like, uh, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Robin, where you gotta add in some ADR after. But you can't do that with a face, so it's very tough, right?
I remember how they showed the Flash at the CinemaCon and the Clooney ending. Yeah, and even that, we got spoiled on that, right? We knew that Clooney was back. And that's, I think you have to do that. You, not, again, don't show at CinemaCon, but you have to, like, and even reviewers, though, right? Like, fucking there's a reviewer when Last Jedi came out that put that Luke Skywalker died in their review. And that was like a week or days before Last Jedi came out. So it's like, someone will spoil it. And it's just a question of like, I don't know what you do there. Cause there's no way you can't like let it go for reviews. I don't think that would be fun and bold. I don't think so. They want that traction, right? Especially if they
believe it's a good film, they want that Superman sequel. And yet the, the, the, the, la, la, la, la. So also Barry was not very well known then. Yeah, no, I agree. And that's what I mean. It was the GA, but like everybody in our sphere knew Barry was playing the Joker, right? So that's the thing of, and that, and, and exactly that though, right? Mike, I guess we should go to go back to that. I've talked about that a lot this year and go back to that. The GA won't know that the people that like go to see this film and see a few films a year, they won't know about Batman being in the movie. So you know what? Even that point, you bring up Barry, which I know it's like kind of a different point.
in the same facility, it doesn't really matter. They're trying to go for that surprise of just, hey, that's Batman, that Bruce Wayne. We won't get that, but that's fine because we're online. And that's where it's just going to be. And they'll always be like the same thing with Tobey and Andrew, right? We're 99% sure they're in there, but we don't know, right? Even with those photos that leaked, it's like, oh, is this like a Photoshop? Is this real?
It's like, I think we all knew in our soul, but you didn't know, no. That's why I think we'll be like with Batman. There'll be an actor. Now, just a question is, is that actor going to leak, like, in the next little bit? Or is he going to be close, like Barry, where it's going to be almost game time and it comes out? And, yeah, of course, like, what we do here, I'm not going to avoid it.
something fun of seeing that for the first time but you know for the GA they get to do that and I'll see it for the I'll be surprised the first time when I get that notification from a scooper like oh shit this person's playing Batman and I do think that's the way to do it I have no idea who they're gonna cast I do think it's going to be a um If you're trying to pull us off in any sort of secretive way, I don't think someone's going to audition. I don't know for sure, but I feel like not everybody's auditioned for a Rollin' the Gun DCU, right? Obviously, Corn Sweat did, and lots of Superman people, but I guarantee you Nathan Fillion didn't audition for Lantern. Now, back up. I know some of you
will be like, oh, but it's Guy Gardner, small role. I understand that. I understand. But I do think Gunn would have an idea of who Batman is, like his Batman's going to be and who's going to play him. I guess there's a way you can do silent auditions, but I feel like that's very rare. Because with Bond, it's like James Bond's coming. So it's fine if those kind of get out there, right? With Batman, if you want to be that surprise, you don't want that out there in the trades of who's doing this, who's doing that.
And the reason I always thought, and this work could be another reason why it makes me, not always thought, but I was thinking of Gunn directing Brave and Bold. And I don't know if it's going to happen. But at least if Batman gets cast here, I actually think that makes it less likely he directs it. Because I always thought that he wanted to cast Batman. Like, he cast Supergirl, he's cast Wonder Woman. Like, I still think he wants to cast as DC. Even if he doesn't write and direct all his projects... he still wants to have the vision, and that's fine, he's the fucking co-studio head, right, like, I'm not, I have no problem with that whatsoever, um, so, yes, Ben McClay says, small role, Guy Garner's been 90% of
DCU projects, yes, I just mean the sense of, like, there's no solo project, right, like, when we get Batman or Superman, you gotta have an actor you believe in and trust, and, uh, um, Well, and again, even then, like Nathan, feel like he believes in trust him, but you know what I mean, right? Like you had, if you're going for a new name person, I don't think you're going to be like, Hey, I really like this name.
Corn so quiet. So I'm Pearl. Like that's it. Even with Millie Alcock, they liked her for super girl after game of Thrones, but she still auditioned. Right. I think just to confirm it. So with Batman, I do think that it's going to be a, a bigger name. It usually has been. I'm fine. If it's not, it's especially if you're trying to save budget, if you can go get a great actor, Sam Reed, that might not be as expensive. Sure. But, like, I'm fine either way. It's just that other than Bale, all the Batman actors have been somewhat established before they took the cow, right? So, Hunter Iggy, what's up? Not much. Just talking some DCU.
Hope everyone's doing well. Hope you're doing well. Do you think someone's already cast as Batman for DCU, or will someone else do a secret audition? Obviously, Derek, we were just talking about that. I think an... Like, already cast, so what do we got? We're in October now, so let's just... Scratch, October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May, June, July.
Nine months, hey? I guess I'll say this. They're already cast, in my opinion. They're already cast or going to be cast. I don't think they're going to do the addition route. I feel like, especially Gunn, the way he's talked, they're like, oh yeah, there's lots of actors, some high-profile actors, you know, that want to be Batman. I feel like he just...
If there's someone in his mind, and if they also want to be Batman, and he knows they're a great actor, he's probably just going to be like, you know, let's just go this route. Especially if they're a bigger actor, a lot of those actors aren't going to be doing auditions, right? There's tons of actors that don't. And that's just the way I lean. Also, just because, like, Batman, I feel like they can get more of a budget because it's Batman.
I do think for the general audience, you do need to... you've got to have someone not on the same level, but in my opinion, some sort of star power versus Robert Pattinson. I think the newer, like the fresh face actor is great. Like that's a great concept, but I think in the world you are right now with Pattinson, you need someone to be like, oh, there's Robert Pattinson, but then there's this, you know? And obviously it's, we're assuming has to be someone that's older. I'm hoping when they say older, it's just, you know, earlier forties. I hope it's not trying to be like Dark Knight Rises where it's like, um, Or BVS, when that's been the reports of old Batman. I hope it's middle-aged Batman. I
don't want old Batman. When people go, oh, you know, they had to have Damien. He even fucking Talia Gould's 16-year-old. Come on now, people. We know how science works. Eggs, tubes, semen. Sweet 16, one of those fucking pregnant in 16 shows. Talia could easily get pregnant and keep it a secret, right?
So you could easily have him. In his late 30s or whatnot. But this is where I go to as far as, okay, let's say he's late 30s, 40s. Of course, there's lots of actors out there that are that age that are well-known stars. But when we think of newcomer, it is usually like, hey, there's this hot, young 20-year-old.
I mean hot, young, just like their star power building up. Not the looks, but of course, Bruce Wayne has to be hot, but he has to be handsome. I feel like when it's an older actor, that's less likely. Even though there's tons of examples, like the guy that was cast in Furiosa's the male lead there. Like, I've not known him for much, right? So you can do that.
But yeah, I think Derek, in my opinion, I think that they will have a bigger actor and just cast. And the good thing is, like, if it doesn't work out, you can just pluck out that scene, right? That could be the idea and in the script. But if they go for contract reasons or whatever, it doesn't work out, they go, you know what? Let's take that out and let's go do it another time. I don't think they want to do that. It just lines up. it just feels like a lot of it, it lines up with their, if there's smoke, there's fire, right? Oh, some are hearing rumors about this thing's going in production late next year.
This movie comes out middle of the year. Oh, they might have a role. This person that I know, like the person that reported this, they got like a good enough track record. Okay. I, they specialize in the leak stuff. They delete the tweet. Cause they said they might get in trouble for it, which doesn't really matter. Cause they would know like, it's going to be out there. Right.
But that's also a good plausible deniability. If they're wrong though, I didn't do it, but I, if you ask me, I think this is true, to round out this rumor, I think this is true, I think it should be an end scene, not an end credit scene, I think it will, somebody already cast, and I think it's somebody that is, established, you know, not Jake Gyllenhaal, but something like that, where it's like, you people know that, oh, it's Ben Affleck, and the way where people can see it, it's like, no, no, like, I've been down this before, I was always in the Affleck train, but I think it will be something like that, but you know, You never know. We'll see. It's exciting. I'm very interested to see what they do here, if Andy is still directing,
if Christina Hobson is writing that script solely, or if there's a partner. I don't know. And if it's not Andy, who is the director, because that's when you can't screw up. Supergirl, I think you can screw up. You didn't want to screw up. Lost the money. But you can kind of strike on that one. Batman, you don't want to, especially when there's another Batman going on, right? I'll quickly address this.
We won't go on too long. Hunter, he says, what are your thoughts on Grifters taking out of context what Koi said in his Real Rejects podcast? The Grifters are saying, Koi, you're dead. Well, me dead. I don't think me dead because I like lanterns. I've not seen the full... People don't know what I'm talking about. Real Rejects, Greg Alba, Koi John Drew, they do a podcast. Only reason I semi-know this is because I listen to Christian Harloff, and I sometimes get their stuff on algorithm. I don't watch their stuff. I don't watch reactions. Nothing against them. I've liked them for a while. I like them when they're in Schmodan and Collider and stuff. So I like Greg and I think the other guy's John and they have
a bunch of reactors. The only, when I was scrolling, the only bit of the clip that I saw, and I guess it was taken out of context about him just saying like, you know, oh, like allowing dumb people to die. Because I think it was people, maybe he was, I think he was upset with people getting, going really hard on the race side and kind of acting really shitty.
And then to me, I felt like I've not seen the clip. So Hunter, I guess I'm the wrong person to ask. Cause I don't really care. Like, I don't like, like, I don't like, like, sure. He's the host of a official DC podcast. Is it risky to say that type of stuff? Sure. But I've not seen the full thing in context. I've only seen the thing that's cut out. Right.
And to me, I felt like he wasn't like actually advocating to like, kill DC fans, but I understand why people are trying to twist it. He was just saying, like, people are being assholes and they're proving they're dumb. And he's like, oh, if I saw this dumb person drowning, I'd just let them down. Let's actually bring it up and let's do it. Let's actually do this quickly. Koi, let's see. John Drew. Oh, of course. You don't even gotta type it out. He's already there, right? Oh, God.
That's what I hate. You already got the... Oh, yeah. I don't... No, like... Like, this... But the problem is, like, it's all the, like, the grifter, like, things. And I don't know if it's true or not, but it's, like, the... I'll show you the fucking, like, thumbnail, right? Like, it's, like... This is the stuff that makes me worried, where it's, like, look at this. I don't miss... Look at that thumbnail. It's, like, idiots and blah, blah, blah. But, like, even then, I don't even know if this clip... I don't miss the feeling of doubting whether or not I'd save someone's life if they were drowning. Yeah. Because I... Knowing this many people are dumb, I think about it sometimes. I'm like, would I let someone die because they're probably an idiot? Maybe. Yeah.
It's just they're not... I mean, they can choke on their own tongues, dude. They're not worth living. And we're overpopulated. Yeah. There's a lot of people that you shouldn't be. Yeah, and see, that's where I don't know, because to me, yeah, here it comes. I don't know. I've seen Koi enough, because I used to watch Collider. He's making that, like, face, right?
He made, like, that. I remember when he did Claire Hero's Schnapp. That seemed like a joking face. And I don't know what he's talking about, right? I don't know, like, if he's talking about super racist assholes, then I guess like sign me up as well. Like, I don't care. Like if anybody's like a fucking racist asshole. Yeah. I don't, they're not somewhere living. And that, that to me is not like a political thing. We've talked about on the podcast before, right? There is political beliefs, but there are human rights beliefs. And in me, it's like, if you're mad about someone being gay or a different color skin, I don't, I have no interest for you. And if you get hit by a fucking bus, I will not
cry at all. If you're a piece of shit. So I don't know what he's saying, but like I've saw that. And that's why I just like throw it aside. Cause, The only person I should worry is him. And at the end of the day, if the DC podcast crew feel like he's defending DC and he was talking about racist people, then it wouldn't really matter. But I don't care about the grifters because they got a click for me there, but I don't follow that content. I'd heard about it because I'd seen it spread by other people.
I think multiple people thought, oh, this isn't good. But yeah, sure, I understand. It's in context maybe, or just those few clips, not the greatest thing if you're on that platform, but I don't know. That's him, right? Like, and again, like, I think he could lose that gig and be fine at Real Reject. So, you know, we'll see. Do you think Tom Brittany or Brandon Sklar? Now, is Tom Brittany the guy? Who's the guy? Brandon Sklar? Absolutely not. Not for me. Brittany, I've not seen act. He has the look. Sure.
I can't comment on his acting ability, but yeah, he has the look. But again, I don't think that I think it would be a star. So I don't think it would be somebody like that, in my opinion. Because there's the other guy, Paul Anthony Kelly, which, after American Horror Story, no. Derek M. says, it feels like the pick for Batman is always someone left field. He always gets fancast as Joker, so maybe Bill Skarsgård. Isn't Bill in something else, right? Oh, no, I forgot. I thought he was Xavier. Remember, that was the rumor, and then it's Abbott. Um... That'd definitely be a choice. I think the only reason why I would pivot against that dare, cause I think it, I'd be interested to see it, but I just wonder if it's too close to Patterson.
I think they got like a, not a similar look, but just like a different type of look, similar body types. Like it's not like, obviously I don't think it's going to be a great choice, but if it's Brandon's going to reverse Rob pass and those feel different. Right. Um, I don't think Patterson and bill feel too different. And I don't know if he has the star power. Um, like again, Keaton had a lot of negative press for it, but had star power. Uh, Kilmer had star power. You had, um, uh, well, Clooney also was coming off, like not coming off, but he had ER. He was having some star power. So he's starting to build. Bale was the newest, even though Americans, people knew him from American Psycho. He was still not
a name that people knew. Uh, Ben Affleck, that was a very left field choice, but he had the star power. That was massive star power. He's coming off of Argo, great director, uh, That's arguably, I'd say, the biggest actor to be ever recast, right? Like, is there no actor just directed a best picture and starred in it and then was Batman? You know, like even Keaton, right? And then after that, we got Passant, who was a big star, but he was trying to do more independent, smaller stuff and building up the acting cred, right? So I do think it will be another star. So Real Anarchy, Ben, how's it going? Tom Brittany is, and if you haven't checked, I DM'd you, so check. Tom Brittany is definitely the
best pick. I'm not a big fan of Brent S, but I would be okay if he's chosen. And it's the same thing, right? I've said this before. If we do get Batman 2, I'm being very greedy because I'm not going to be like, oh, this is not the guy I want. I have Batman 2 where I'll pass him. I'm okay. If the DC Batman's not my cup of tea, I'm okay. And even if it's not, I have so many Batman, I'm okay. I have the Dark Knight and I have the Batman. I've said this before where it's like...
I can sometimes, I go back and forth, which is my Batman, or which is my favorite Batman movie. I don't, not many people had that with their favorite comic book character, right? It's like, oh, this is the one. And even then, you can throw in Batman Against, you can throw in Mask of Phantasm. Like, I got tons of choices. So I'm in that point where even if DC Batman's not for me, it's like, okay, that's fine. It's for somebody, right?
So yeah, no, Ben, I need to go and watch some Tom Brittany. If he gets cast, I'll go watch and tape. The same way with Corn Sweat, I knew him from uh, Pearl obviously, but after he got cast, I'll go watch some tape. And I was like, yeah, I agree. He's a good choice. So I would go watch some tape and find out. Um, he definitely has the look. He looks like Arkham Batman, uh, Hunter. Yes.
Where are Travis and Joe? They host DC Alliance. Uh, that is usually on Fridays. It was only on Tuesdays before because of lanterns, but now lanterns done, they'll be back on Friday. So look out for that Hunter, uh, April says, I like Alden Ehrenreich for the bat. I can't be with you, April. You know why? Because you know what I'm going to say. I like him for weirdos.
If they announce him as a joker, I'm down. I don't think Alden Ehrenreich is the best straight guy. I think you look at weapons. There's a fair play. I think he's better in the wild, more squirrely type of roles. He's a good actor. Again, as long as the person's a good actor, that's all that matters. Uh, thank you, Ben. Uh, that's all that matters, because you can build from that.
You can't teach, you can get someone that's super muscly and looks the part, but if they can't act, then, like, no, we're all there, right? You can build them up, he's a good actor, but he could get bigger and muscly, right? My pick was always, and it was somebody's, oh, my pick was always, which is funny, because he got picked in, um, the Batman Part 2, it was, um, Sebastian Stan for a while. That's who I was rocking. Obviously, that's not happening, because he's playing Zaz, or Harvey, or da-da-da-da, but Let's bring that. So a bunch of people are talking about, let me read all these quotes here about the size of Man of Tomorrow. Let's see here. Someone compared it to like an Ultron level event. They said that the
threat is going to be bigger than Loki's. This comes from Resident Justice who like, you know, they, they, a friend of the show, they've been in chat before. They're not like a scooper, but they definitely get some info. And because last time when they asked, they're like, I think they know somebody in the production. I don't know for sure, RJ, you'd have, you'd have to say, or, or someone's kind to you, I don't know, but they got stuff right last time. So this is a collection of quotes. And let me just pull up this other one here, if I can get it. Man of Tomorrow will probably add new members to Justice League. Gang, great.
So here's the two things. Man of Tomorrow is being compared to an episode like Justice League Unlimited. For those who enjoy superhero fan service with heroes coming together, teams forming, characters interacting, this is it. The focus, as this was from RJ, there's a focus still dynamic between Lex and Superman and Brainiac, what they're doing off-planet. What happens back on Earth is just exciting. And then, like I said, there are some other accounts that describe it as similar to Ultron, bigger effect than Ultron, which is like that makes sense because Ultron was just like Earth. And if they're going planet wide, that's probably a universe thing. So, yeah, it does sound like what Family Club is talking about,
where it sounds very much like we are getting a Justice League movie, but not a Justice League movie. I think the way I can... Obviously, I've not seen the movie, so I get why they're comparing it to Age of Ultron in the sense they say in one scene, even without Superman, there's like 10 heroes and they're making plans. Okay, cool.
In my mind, the way I'm looking at it is almost like Captain America Civil War, where that is... You know, people give a lot of shit. I understand about being Avengers 2.0. I understand, but I still feel like at the core of that story has a lot to do with Steve and his journey. But let's say what it is.
There's tons of Avengers. They're fighting... but it's not an Avengers movie, right? That's how I feel like Man of Tomorrow, from what I hear, is looking like. Because Justice League, if Wonder Woman has a small role and Batman has an appearance, obviously it's not the Justice League, the proper Justice League they want to do, right? And they also mentioned that Barry Allen is reportedly mentioned in the movie, which makes sense. I do agree with people. I feel like we're going to get a Barry Allen or like a Hank Pym to Scott Lang, a... Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart, I agree that I think Barry is going to get put aside, which again, like, it's not tough.
We had some Barry in that last Just League. Barry's been around to go to the TV show, so I do understand that. It's just always strange for me when it's like we're doing the big connected universe and the first iteration's not the main character to hand it off, but that's what happens when you have a rocky universe to start, right? The DCEU. Whether you like the things in there or not, obviously did not become the universe that that studio wanted, right? So Barry, that was his time to shine. And that would make sense to me as far as like a handoff. And this makes sense as far as I still am curious how the title of man of tomorrow works. And that's where, Hey, if this is like a big justice league event, if this
stuff's going on, I've said before that I am in the camp that I think Superman two is going to do less than Superman one. If there is one woman and Batman, and that's the thing, if tracking gets lower, which we'll talk about with Clayface in a second, you always have those, um, stones to throw out there. Like we got a Batman, we got a woman. You always have those plays, right? Um, So I didn't, I didn't think about that and all these heroes, but at the same time, maybe people look at it and go like, I don't know these people. I didn't watch Blue Beetle.
I didn't watch, uh, you know, like I didn't watch a lantern show, which will happen. Right. Cause even though it's highly watched on TV, we saw the, the MCU, that crossover audience doesn't always happen. Right. So right now, and again, it's not in the quality Superman. I just picked that for Superman just because I look at that summer schedule and I go, yikes, that's a lot of competition.
Now I could be wrong. Maybe it's Minecraft two is the one that eats shit. Right. There's always something to eat shit in the summer. At least one big thing. Sometimes multiple. So, but with this, hey, I love Justice League Unlimited and that was the hope, right? I think even people described it back in the day like Superman always felt like the Superman in the animated series. And I think that was a pro and a con. I think for me that's where I talked about in Superman 20 and 25 where some of my issues were it almost felt too kiddy and too cartoony, like the bad things of cartoons. Because I think all the times when we watch those classic 90s shows, there's times where whether it's character development or some choices, you go, why did
they do this? Oh, it's because it's cartoony. You go, Right? It's a 22-minute cartoon episode, sure. Where I don't like feeling that way in a movie. I love the whimsical, and I love the adventure nature of those animated projects. And if you can do that, that's great. And something that I don't think the MCU is... I don't think they're trying to invoke the Spider-Man or X-Men animated series, right?
Maybe they will with X-Men, but I haven't felt like that. Like everyone said, it's always been more the ultimate universe, and that kind of became its own thing, right? So I like the DCU trying to do that. And again, that's where... check out we did the batman animated series retro for just the first three episodes and we'll keep it going every month it's been great to watch and talk about with kirkland taylor because they're like they haven't seen that much fantastical batman in live action there's not much of it because what you got you could count batman returns but even then it's like a darker weirder thing you got batman forever but even then it's a guy that happened for his face and riddler i'd say
okay you get there with batman robin poison i mean mr freeze but bad movie Then you get Super Ground with Nolan, and then you get BVS and Justice League, where of course he's doing a bunch of that stuff, but it's not even a full Batman, right? He's just on a team. So that makes me excited. I like the comparison. I do like the idea of them being off-world, and I like that being the idea of why there's maybe a bunch of heroes together on Earth, because it's like, hey, our greatest defender, Superman, is gone. And another person that could help us, Lex, with their power is also gone.
And that's where these people could step up, whether it's one Roman in hiding or somewhere else, whether it's Batman... I don't know. I know people have also the theory of we've got all these characters because Brainiacs are collecting them. I think you've got to be careful because you don't want to make them just feel like jobbers and then like, oh, and Superman comes back down. So that's, and again, when people keep saying like, oh, that happened again today where that's why Gunn's not calling it Superman sequel because it's not.
And it's like, I understand that, but you also, that's where it's going to be interesting of like, if the audience sniffs out like, hey, this isn't a Superman movie. Like he's not in there as much as I thought. I'm not going to show up. We've talked about this a few times the past couple of years, right? Where you got something like ballerina and they throw in John wick and us as the audience, like, or so us as the movie going fans, like the hardcore, I'd say hardcore fans watching a bunch of films every week. We see these chairs and we go, okay, Kiana's in there for, you know, a couple of scenes, a cup of coffee.
Then he's out where I think back in the day they would do that. And the general audience would go, Oh, they're in that movie. Now they figure out, eh, that probably means Ken is just in there for a little bit, right? Because he's not over the poster, it's not called John Wick. So I'm not saying, obviously, what would be that level, like John Wick and Ballerina, but if it's enough where they think it's not Superman and they don't like to follow these other characters, and even Lex, if they market him to be the villain, I love that idea. I love the big budget, whether he's trying to redeem himself or he's going to be villainous. I love that idea of Lex having, even more if he's the main character
of Man of Tomorrow, taking center stage and doing that as a movie. That's great. I don't know if the audience is going to be down for that. There's tons of stuff that I'm down for the audience isn't down for. So, and so I don't know, man, it's going to be fascinating. The marketing, everything. And that first trade is going to be in talk porn. Talk about sign weekly geek, you know, first trade is everything. Look at Arnia. Not a good first impression to me. Uh, we'll see. We'll talk about that in depth tonight, but, um, Yeah, I'm liking everything I'm hearing. That makes sense why Earth's going on. Makes sense them being off-planet. You got Brainiac. So, yeah, that all makes sense why these people would pop up. Okay,
and then this comes from BoxOfficeProTheory, who is also, you know, like... It's tough because there's them and there's another one that before I used to kind of, like, set aside. And I'm like, I'll wait for the trades to come out. And then lately they've been getting some things right. So it's like, okay, let's look at this. And they are reporting that right now the pre-sales for Clayface... are 76% behind Supergirl. So they averaged out that it could be anywhere from a $ 23 to $ 29 million opening. As I've said before, now is that great? Not really, right? And obviously you, like some of the earlier tracking four weeks ago was like the, it was like 30 to 45 or something like that, right? So it's not great. Obviously,
you'll always be going up. We'll see some more official numbers. We still got two more weeks. We got reviews. See if that bumps up, right? Word of mouth could carry it. I do always say for the word of mouth thing, I think they still should have released this a little earlier. I know they had other mummying stuff going on then, but just like that movie's out there. And Rez was the end of September. But I still thought like to write off more Halloween stuff because what? It comes out the 23rd and then you got eight days of Halloween and then it's over. Like the shops will already have the Christmas stuff up by the time Clayface is coming out, right?
I've always said, like, hey, ride that wave a little bit. The same way with... Oh, okay. I was just seeing if there was any news, and it's news I covered. Oh, fuck, where was I going? Oh, the same way with Summertime stuff. Like, you can have legs, family movies, nothing else to see. Hey, let's go take the family to this. Let's see this again.
With Resident Evil, and we'll see with Other Mummy, with Resident Evil, that seems to be getting that wave of Going more and again and again and again. And that could also be a Halloween movie. I think Other Mummy could. Obviously the audience would show at least the first week. They don't give a fuck about the D Plus Cinema score.
And the Rotten Tomatoes. That was a great trailer. You got Jessica Chastain looking crazy. Sign me up right. We'll see what it does next week. I really don't know how it's going to play. Because again I think it's just like hey it's Halloween time. So let's go see some scary stuff right. So Clayface I don't know how it's going to do just a week from. But this is where again. where I'll stand by is if it, I said this two weeks ago, I said if it's a massive success, that's a huge win. If it's a bomb or disappointment, it's a minor loss. I don't think Clayface really has much to do with anything of the future of James Gunn, the DC, sure, future plans, but I mean like his future there as a co-CEO and
I get a contract, I don't think if, of course they want Clayface to do well. They're in a bunch of debt now, Skydance, like even more so, right? So of course you want everything to pop off. and do well, but I'm just saying if you're looking at the high risk, high reward, I think it's okay if it does lower because it's exactly my point too, lower budget. If we're hearing the correct reports of $ 40 million, okay, so what?
It makes $ 23 million, so half its production budget than some other international stuff. Now granted, if it makes that and then it only makes like $ 40, let's say it makes $ 40 million, so it makes its production budget back, but you always want to make double, then yeah, it's a loss, but it's not as bad as loss of Supergirl.
or Digger, you know? So that's where I think it's a good idea. Now, again, they might look at it and go, hey, no more of this fucking just weird shit. No more radar stuff. There can be a bunch of lessons, but I don't think the lesson is get rid of James Gunn. I think that's the lesson from Man of Tomorrow.
And I've always said before, it has to have like a big time drop. I still wouldn't even get rid of James Gunn if it made the same as 2025 or just like 50 million less. I wouldn't. Even if I'm not loving the DCU, I loved almost all of Lanterns, I wouldn't do that for like the hell for the franchise. Obviously, it's different if the movie gets critically and fan-bombed, and if it's not performing, then of course. But I'm just saying, if it reviews the same way as, what, 75 to 85, then makes it like 50 million less, yeah, sure, keep him on. Let's see what he does with Warner. Let's see what he does with Batman. And you'll have the Batman 2 right around the corner. I think that's fine.
That's not a home run. It's not even going to get in the third base, but it's like a double. It's getting you on bad, and like, okay, we can work with this, all right? We can keep building. And why would the... tracking be going low like I don't know if like why it started high and period got less it's the same thing of just that's why my only working theory would be because reviews aren't out so it's not like Digger where clearly I don't think that movie is gonna before it was like what tracking it like 10 to 20 million that went to six right for opening weekend I think the tracking could have just been a little off they could overblown like his cruise and I do sure I bet there's a lot of people that were like I don't know if I'm gonna
see that but a lot of still like an exaggeration because I don't think that's like a really mainstream movie right So it could just be like, at the time, I'm interested, but then once you go see Resident Evil, and maybe see it again with some other friends, and then once you go see Other Mummy, because maybe you weren't planning to, those trailers look great. Then when Clayface rolls around, you go, ah, I saw two horror movies in the theaters. I'm good. I can watch some stuff on VOD, or at home, right? Because there's fucking hundreds.
I just watched the other day, we watched Pumpkinhead 2, which I'll talk about tonight. I watched that on American Tubi, you know, thank God for VPNs. The amount of stuff you guys got over there in Tubi, holy fuck. Like, you guys got, like, even though it's, like, 2025 last year, but it's, like, it was, like, I can't remember what it was, but it was, like, a decent, like, well-known movie.
I was, like, we got some good stuff with Canadian Tubi, but American Tubi, like, I'm, like, if you're trying to save money and do, like, X, Y, and Z, just get that. There's so much fucking shit on there you just watch, new and old. Like, I saw Afraid of Nightmares was on there. I've never seen all Afraid of Nightmares.
You know why? Because that shit's hard to find. I was like, this is crazy. All on American Tubi right now. For us, it's on AMC Plus, which you gotta pay $ 25 or whatever. All Tales of Crypt are on there. For free. And ads don't matter now. The people don't understand that. You go, why? Because we got phones we can look down at. We got laptops. We can walk away.
So yeah, that's why for me, again with Clayface, I always thought earlier the better. Because I thought it would make the choice of the Halloween movie versus... This is out already. There might be some classic playing. I'm going to skip this and go around. We'll see what happens, right? Superman Mike says, I have friends who love DC and were not won over by Clayface trailers. Yeah, I've had the opposite of, like actually i guess not opposite right i guess i should ask i should ask my sister thanksgiving she's always my like barometer but even then like kyle right he used to be a member of geekverse podcast he still sees brand new day and odyssey so i'd say he's like the that'd be a good thing
like fine tears for moviegoers he's not like a ga who sees a couple movies he sees a lot like he saw michael like um there's a bunch of things he saw over the summer and he's more connected than this, he'll ask me about rumors, but he didn't even fucking know there was a Clayface movie, this guy used to host a comic book podcast with me, and be on a Geek for, and Geek for Summer, and he's still around, like, he's still, like, you've done, he's popped in Geek for his anniversary, so, like, he's still in the orbit, um, no idea, until last night, we had him over for, uh, um, Thanksgiving, we had him and Sasha's girlfriend over, and, uh, so I'm always seeing this, like, no, what is this, and I had to explain it all to him, and it's, like,
you know um and they went to oh and your friends would see supergirl okay um yeah and i just don't know we talked about this i think when it was announced right of oh it's cop and substance x y and z and i think the substance when i looked this up last i made a lot better than i thought right the substance the substance what a fucking good movie man i want to watch just thinking about that guy's voice i want to see it uh watch it again my movie of 2024 but okay I think so.
Budget 18 million made 77 to 82 million. Last time I searched, I thought I did even lower than that. So that's pretty good. But body horror is like, I don't know. What is the most successful body horror movie? Like even like the fly, which is like, I was going to say like a cult classic resident. Okay. Like resident evil, 2026. I'm not going to count that. There is some body horror stuff in there. Sure. Um, Mike and I've worried about this too. Right. And I, here's the thing. Um, I think I've only seen one thing from James walk walk-ins and that was the speak no evil movie. And to me it was, um, it was strange cause I think the original speak no evil is a great concept, but for me overrated with the execution
of it. And then the problem was that the remake, the North American one, they had the con they, uh, They fixed some of those dumb issues that I had of the execution, but then it just didn't go as hard as the original, right? So I'm very much the same. And that's where it's not to like get, I don't know.
It's not from what I saw from like, I watched them both, but I just like my take on James Watkins. And if I speak was just, he made an English remake with some changes. It wasn't like somebody coming in being like, Hey, I'm going to do a remake. And then like the way Mike Flanagan's do with Carrie, right?
That's a whole new, obviously TV show, so different, but whole new vision and take. That was not what James Walken did with If I Speak. So I can't get a gauge there. The trailers to me have felt like that. And all the Batman talk have felt like that. I've said just even as myself, I do not like the idea of the villains first and the Batman. Because we're probably not going to get Clay Fitz as a villain, right?
And I think as we saw with Disney +, we saw other than Moon Knight, all those shows in Disney +, that were the top tier, like in the Nelson Raiders, ratings were the ones that came from the movies. And then the new characters, people are like, eh, I don't know. There's a version of this movie where Batman has fought Clayface, and this is either after or it's the origin, and I think it does better because they've already established, hey, I really like Clayface as that villain. I do want to see what fucking happened to him, right? That's not the case now. This is a... Where's Clayface? He's not S-tier.
S-tier is like... S-tier bugs me, I guess, with rankings. Let's just go a... A tier is obviously Joker, Catwoman, Two-Face. Like, so it depends, right? If there's an A tier, I think Clayface is, he's either low B or he's high C. He, you know, he's been in some stuff for sure, right? But as far as the general audience, I've said this before, he walked down the street, asked, just who, do you know what Clayface is? Lots of people ain't gonna fucking know.
You know, there'll be some people, of course, but it's not like Batman, Joker, Two-Face, you know, like even Bane, who was just, he's been too, even Mr. Freeze, right? Hey, who's Mr. Freeze? Oh, I know that. And that's because they were in the bad movies before. So I can see that. And that's where it's like, I said, people spend their money. I think it does have that kind of, oh, the villain of the hero movies. And a lot of movies that did that before aren't good. I talked about this before. Chris Balga, we brought that up. I think last time I was on Marvel Alliance. I'm not going to pat myself on the shoulder. But I think a lot of superhero fatigue and Marvel fatigue also came from the bad Sony movies. And it does not matter that people,
they're not associated with Kevin Feige and MCU anymore. They just see that Marvel logo, and the people that see a few movies a year thought that, like, wow, they're making some bad movies about these Spider-Man villains. This sucks, right? So that's where, for me, that did probably sully, though. Like, oh, it's a Batman villain. Oh, they did that with Spider-Man.
That wasn't that great, right? And it's just body horror. But, like, okay, obviously Resident Evil 26 has some of that, but that was not what was marketed as. Alien, it has body horror aspects, but it's not a body horror movie. Most acclaimed and defining classics, The Fly, The Thing, and Videodrome, right? Um, okay.
Let's look at these all. Um, so yeah, so, and I'll say this is the nineties, right? But so, or 80, so, uh, $ 9 million budget for the fly made 60 million. Let's just see. Let's see. Inflation calculator. Okay. Let's just take a look here. I guess I'm doing Canadian. Uh, let's see. So we'll go to 1986. I'm just trying to see like, just like, comparatively like what a success rate could be right um so it made 60 million okay okay and then calculate so let's see that would be about 128 so like a pretty much double right and again okay so it would be bigger than the substance but not 200 million right and then what were some of the other ones the thing i thought the thing was a cult classic like what did the thing make The thing
made $ 20 million, cult classic, so that probably ate shit as far as big money. And then Videodrome, which is like, that's definitely a cult classic. What did Videodrome make back in the day? Carlin Berger for him, yeah, $ 2. 1 million. So here's the thing, Mike. I think body horror can do good in movies, but that's the other thing where when I was watching Resident Evil, and they had that trailer, and it was the moment where he's cutting his eyelids and everything, I did say, I was like, oh, this might, there might be a hit on its hand because people were like, oh my God, and they were talking to their friends. It's like, okay, this is hitting. But is it just a gross thing that you don't want to
pay to see? And like looking at that, body horror is like a tough market. Even like, what was that, what'd that Together movie make? That's like probably what, under 30 million, right? Or something. Let's see, that made 34 million. Okay, so there you go. Made a little bit more than what I thought. It's just a tough market, right? So yeah, I just, I don't know. It has to be really good for that repeat business. And I don't know if it's going to be really good. I feel like, for me, my barometer is it's going to be a 7 out of 10. That's the high end. If you come to me and you said, hey, Travis, in the future you're going to fail the Clayface movie, I could believe you.
It's not like a shock to me, right? A more shock would be like, oh, it's a 10. 10, your comic film is forever a brand new day. Wow. So for me, I think that it's just... It's exactly what– I can't remember what the interview was, but I shared it in the Discord, and it was from either last year or before. Gunhead said, hey, the reason this is– and he was saying it in not like a flippant way, but they were talking about these things, and I think he kind of slipped a little bit. He kind of brought– and I do shout out to Film Junkie, Dave, who brought this up on a show, and that's where I listened to it because I listened to him. But I mean like I had not heard this, and when he talked about it, I was like, oh, what's he
talking about? And I looked it up. And he just said like they needed DCU content. And that's where the Clayface script came in. So to me it kind of felt like Flanagan wrote the script. The current DCU brass at that time were like no we're good. And then like what do we got? Like what about Flanagan? And Gunn said he knew him. And that's where the thing got turned into DCU content. Which I do understand. You need that content right? To keep this universe going. People happy.
But that's where I've said before like I don't know if that's the best pick. The same way I didn't think Supergirl was the best pick for a second movie. I still thought that. having another super movie right away, and then 127 was not good, right? So I think they're not bad movies in concept, but the timing, timing's everything, right?
So it's the same way, right? Like, I know this is a dumb comparison, but like, if you, if let's say Jack Nicholson was never in Batman 89, and you didn't have any Jokers, and they did Suicide Squad, I'd go, well, that's probably not a good idea, right? Like, no Harley, no Joker, and all this, that, but it was a massive hit because a lot of it had to do with Joker, and seeing him with these villains, and yet, da, da, da, There's time and establishment. Supergirl, very little establishment as far as, you know, yeah, sure, movie a long time ago and then the TV show, but that's different. And then Clayface, barely in it, I'd say, right? Some people might know him from shows and everything, but yeah, send us some questions.
I got about here, let's see, maybe they're still sleeping, so that's good. One point, Valor cried. I was like, oh, 20 minutes in, we're not looking good. Where the fuck is my clock here? Okay, I got about five minutes. If you have any questions, throw them in there. But yeah, so I think that it, it, it's going to be interesting.
Cause I wasn't on the predictions episode. I feel like it's going to make like under 120. And even then though, if those are starting to slow down, I don't know what the national market's like. So I can see it being like the substance and under a hundred. And I don't know, do they take this win? I don't know.
But again, I don't think if it's a loss, it's a big loss. They'd be like, Hey, I understand we did that. Thanks for not taking a huge risk on the budget. Maybe let's not try that again or do something different. Right. Um, um Johnny Dome says to be fair together was out when horror wasn't hype as it is now I don't buy into that like and Johnny I know what you mean right horror is definitely having a moment but horror is always produced like people like the articles and like all the renaissance look at all the like Again, people didn't talk about them. The Saw movies, just because they went to only make like $ 120 million or $ 140 million, those things would have like $ 10 to $ 18 million or $ 20 budgets, $ 20 million budgets, right? So
I get what you're saying, Johnny, because I've seen it. I guess it's just a narrative that I don't like because sure, horror is very big right now, but it's never died out. Horror franchises have always been very successful and done very well. And Together was not like... When was Together? Together. Let's see, together. And even then, like, together was... See, I can't there. 2025, let's see other...
Let's just see horror films in 2024. Horror films, 2024. If I could spell films right, that would be great. But yeah, John, I do get what you're saying, because it is people looking at it as, like, oh, this big phenomenon, right? But, like, see, that's the... Yeah, 2024, you had Long Legs, you had Alien Romulus, you had Terrifier 3, which was a huge independent blow-up. You had Smile 2, which did very well. So that's why, for me, it's just, like, If you go to each year, I'm sure there's slumped years for sure, right? But horror has always been delivering. So Together was in that. Like to me, Long Lanes was a massive, like had some record, right?
For like biggest opening weekend for like some, I don't know, independent movie. There's records that they broke, right? But that's the thing where it's like, you can look at it and there are a lot of it. So I said hype had not died out. There's ups and downs. If you hear Westerns, that's a different story. Yeah, Westerns, that's a whole different thing. You get a one-off, right? But you said, to be fair, Together was out when horror wasn't as hype as it is now. Yeah, I don't think that. I just think, again, to me, it's still in that hype period because people talk about the hype period now with Obsession and Backrooms. So I don't think horror died in 2025, right? I think it's just like every other genre where some are going to hit and
some aren't going to hit, right? But let's see. Yeah, Sinners came out. Weapons came out 20 years later. Conjuring Last Rites did crazy. That was the best one in the franchise, Bloodlines. But then you have something like Companion. That came out. That's arguably better than a lot of those movies I listed, but no one fucking watched it. Right.
Because it just came out at a bad time. So I think it's like any other genre where horror is still hot as ever, but together, I think it's just like, you know, like they're not massive stars. And like, again, I don't think body horror is something that people are trying to get us because I don't know if they like to be grossed out. Right. So, uh, let's see here.
Some of the questions, Olivia, do you think is a town got two series or a movie? Um, Hmm. I hope we get her because I like Satana. Get the Emerald Fennel script back. I would probably say a show. If you're getting a solo project, I'd probably say a show. I would prefer a movie, but I would say a show.
Let's see here. And also, do you think that we'll get a movie first for Firestorm and Captain Adam in DC Universe? No, I think those will be like crossover stuff. So I don't think they're getting any movies for those characters. Batman series, Superman series need to be brought to Tubi. Like Justice League. Yeah, for us, they're all on Netflix. Well, no, they're all spread out. Batman's on Netflix. Superman. The Fly doesn't follow that rule. Let me know what the rule is, Johnny.
Because I can't remember what I may have said. Of like, what, with big stars? Like, do they have big stars? Because Geena Davis and Jeff Goldblum. Tell me the rule and then I'll get back to it. What was I going to say? Uh, yeah, for us, Batman Mania series on Netflix, not even the whole thing. Batman Beyond is nowhere. Superman is on Teletoon Network that you could pay for extra.
And then Justice League is on Netflix. Ours is all spread out, which is kind of annoying, but you know, that's the best thing you're going to get. So, uh, Olivia says, I hope Donna Troy, Wally West, Kid Flash are with Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Nightwing for the very first Teen Titans cinematic universe. I don't know if you get all those, but, uh, yeah, I don't know. Um, I'd wait on team Titans. I would establish Dick Grayson in brain bolt. And then I know, Oh, but it's about Damien. You said body horror struggles or has, you said body horror struggles or has trouble or something. But again, like we looked up though, the fly only made, if it's in today's money only made 120 million. Now I'm
not saying only like, as far as that's still really good, but that's like the barometer. If like, that's your best, if you say, Hey, Like, we want to make the X franchise, right? You can look at an action movie and go, this is the bar. You look at a horror film, this is the bar. You look at comic book movies at one point, like, oh, you've got to make a billion, a 750. If, like, your biggest... In the body horror subgenre, your biggest film is, like, one...
Because it made 60 million back then, so it's 128 million now. That's, like... That's so good, depending on the budget. Look at The Fly. I think they said it had a $ 9 million budget. So, definitely, you can make the profit if it's smaller. I just think that it's... it's not like that's like the best of the best. Like it's like the flies is classic. Right. So it's like, do I think clay face is going to be the classic? Uh, and no, absolutely. I'm not trying to put it down.
120 is very good. I'm not trying to put it down. I'm just saying like, that's not like the, it's not like a guaranteed. It's like, if all like back in the, in the heyday, right. Of the, um, 2016 to 2019, I'll say 2015. Um, to 2019 era of the comic book movies, if it's like the top tier stuff was you're making a billion, then what's like the smaller tier, right?
And like, even what's the first Shazam make, right? Shazam, let's see, 2019. What does that make? Cause that's like a lower tier one as far as what it made. But this is what, this was like Shazam, a not known character. So that made 365, right? Pretty good for not a known character. Zachary Levi is not a star.
And I think it got like good enough reviews, right? Nothing like that. But that's because like, That was in the heyday of the comic book movies, right? And like a bunch of, and this one, then Shazam 2, 134. And I think there's a lot of other things that go to that, but like, look at Captain Marvel, right?
Such a fall. So that's where I feel like, I'm just saying like the air, the room of error. If you go here, the best comic book movies are making a billion dollars. The worst is making like 400, let's say. Okay. We can budget for that, right? With the body whores, the flies at the top with like 128 and then the rest are kind of like we looked at Videodrome and other ones like 2 million, 10 million, you know, even Substance. That's why it's very good for 77 to 80 million. Very good profit there. It's just that it's not like a high end. So I just don't know what the market is for that in like going to see it and being grossed out. I don't know. And we're going to find out, right? Uh, let's see here. Uh, Hunter,
he says, do you think we'll get the Green Arrow and Black Canary TV series? Yeah, I saw that was reported. I was going to put that in the notes. I forgot. Um, that's interesting, right? Because you would think that you don't want to do another Green Arrow show when you just did a Green Arrow show. Um, but, like, that makes sense. Like, I would not do that. Actually, I would love that as a movie. I would actually prefer that than Savage Hunters.
I'd love it if, like, we're going to do a $ 40 million... action, crime, drama, you know, like, that sort of way with those two, I would love that, but if it, like, I could believe them looking at a TV show, because I think it's the same way as Disney and Marvel, they want to look at more profitable stuff, and, you know, Jimmy Olsen, we'll see what happens with Gorilla Grodd as far as, like, how he looks and the effects, but that's a cheaper show, right? I'm trying to think of, is there any other DC, like, Lanterns, obviously was a cheaper show, like, it still looked good, but, like, it was not lanterns and stuff like that in space and everything, which not all great lantern stories are. Many take place
on Earth, but it wasn't like at any point is he seeing all the guardians and stuff. We barely saw an alien. So that's why I think for budgetary wise, it could be. And I think that would be, it could be fun. I like Oliver Queen a lot as a character. I liked him in the Justice League. I liked him in the comics. I liked the show. And I think him in Black Canary is an underserved character.
Even with the CW show, I think it kind of had like lots of waves. So I do buy I buy that something that's being pitched. Does it happen? I don't know, but I could buy it. I would prefer a lower budget action movie, you know, but, uh, no, no, I digress. Uh, let's see. Uh, when do you think scream a is going to start production? I don't fucking care. I, you know what? I care Olivia for you asking, but I don't, um, I've, I think I get, I think my hype is like non-existent, right? We'll go a little, we'll go a little extra cause I see some other questions here. Um, I think my hype is almost non-existent because I just, when I, cause when I saw that movie, right, the last one, I know lots of people were saying
it was the worst one and I didn't have that take because I really disliked, um, six and so like how it went out far out there. And I, the third act, I really hate the killer reveals. I hated the performances of them. I think it was directing and writing, but I hate the performances and I hated where we got to crazy stuff where like, um, I think his name was like Mason Gooding when he got stabbed like 50 times and he's still okay. So it really felt like SNL-like to me. And that was to me the worst.
Even though I think the movie overall might be better than some others, that third act just really plummeted. So when Scream 7 came out, no, it's still not that. Then I did re-watch Scream 6 and I still hate the third act. But it just was the overall, the hires were high. And I was like, you know what?
I think I am with everybody now. And I know it was like the bully material, like everyone pounded on him. Like, yeah, I'm with you. It's like, no, I gave a rewatch. And you know what? This just flowed better than Screen 7 did. And Screen 7 also has like a terrible third act. So it's not as bad. but i think it's pretty bad so i like when do you think like i'm sure they'll start production now i think it's like what the highest grossing scream or whatever um yeah i love that franchise my you know my twins like one's name is val and one's name is sydney Emily threw out a name and she likes just the name Sydney, but she also was aware of it because of Scream.
And I like, cause that Sydney Prescott is my favorite final girl. I'd save that trilogy. Like, I mean like the, the trilogy of Sydney, that character is my favorite final girl of all time. And then Nancy's right beside her. So for me, that franchise means a lot to me. That's a huge inspiration for horror likes and what I want to write and direct and all that type of stuff.
If you love horror, Scream's up there, right? And now we're at a place where I don't think there's– I can't say there's not anything. Depends on writer, director, sure. But I felt like to me that we had done everything we could do with this set of– these set of characters with Prescott and Gale Weathers. And I think it is time for completely new characters or reboots. I was down for like what they were doing with the new characters of, hey, the legacy characters that were there and send it off. I think that was a better route to go. I think the longer we go, we get a chance of Sydney dying, and I don't want that to happen to my final girl. I don't think she deserves that after her life's been awful since high school.
So I can't... And here's the thing. When I watched that, I put that in Letterboxd's interview where I said, I think we've done everything we can with this set of characters. I said that about the minions. Walk with me for a second. I said that about the minions, and then the last minions came out, the monsters, whatever. And that is a very cute, clever... obviously the film has a lot to do with cinema and a love for that.
So of course I'm, you know, I'm not partial to it, but I thought overall, I was like, Oh, this is like a real, like, but same thing. They got away from grew and they got away from Bob and Kevin. They did. Oh, these are some new minions on a different adventure. And that's where before I thought, Oh, I think this franchise, they they've milked everything. They really can't like at least get a good, decent story. I was like, Oh no, I was wrong. They did it here. So that's why I've said like, I think you've got to get away from those characters. So I don't, I don't know if I will be seeing that in the, the theaters, I'd have to check that one primarily, and I have no problem always admitting it, we obviously get money from
sponsors and ads and all this type of stuff, if that review did well in the grand scheme of things, I would look, but I don't know, like, let me do, like, I'm not gonna look on air, because I'm already over time, but I don't know, I don't, I think it did, like, above average, or, like, maybe a little better, I don't think it's, like, one of our top episodes, right, so, where the last one, though, it was, so, Let's see here.
I'm going to quickfire some things. Overall, this is a good thing DC is experimenting. I'm tired of Marvel. Sort of the same thing overall. DC, try to copy Marvel. Absolutely, Johnny. I'm with you 100%. Everything other than the Batman part of it, I don't prefer the Batman villain getting a soul movie for fighting Batman. Let's just say that happened and now we're getting that. I think it would be even bigger. But I'm all for a villain movie, an origin movie. I'm all for... And I know people go, oh, Sony did that. No, they didn't. They made them anti-heroes to heroes. If they could make... That's what I don't want.
That would be an off against. If Clayface is an anti-hero, I don't want that. And I'm all like, the $ 40 million. I don't know why, both with Joker and Deadpool, those didn't blow off the idea more. Again, why do we not have a $ 30 million John Mirthal radar movie? Why don't we have that? Fucking easy. Make him the only star.
Make it cheap. After Brand New Day, that's a fucking layup. Even if you make $ 100 million, that's a nice layup. You get the VOD after. You get Disney +. And I think it would do more than a hundred million, even at radar, they could tinker with not do it. So I agree with you. And that's why I like in concept about what gun is doing, right? We just got to see it executed, but I love the idea of, okay, and now we're doing more of a horror and same thing.
That's I, I applaud them right now. The franchises have felt differently as far as Superman is big, strong adventure. Supergirl is kind of like a light version of that. So not the same, you know, creature commandos, very radar, you know, over the top cartoon lanterns, detective mystery. That's more serious drama. And then you got this. So then you got man tomorrow. So, I agree that, and even Batman part two, if it's in there, it's a crime drama and it's separate. So I agree. He's done a better job of that. That's just unfortunate for me. I haven't loved the quality of it, but I love the idea in context. So maybe I heard rumors that we're still going to have Captain Marvel three after Avengers doomsday
and secret wars, both in phase, uh, next phase. I think that all depends. Brie Larson's also pregnant. Um, I think that all depends after secret wars. I think they're not going to make any big decisions till secret wars. Cause I can see who pops and, uh, like I could, I could believe it, but I also like, I think it's just, in my opinion, what they should do is the characters like Captain America, you know, Sam Wilson, people that had some movies that either disappointed or underwhelmed, put them together in the Avengers with some other heavy hitters like a Thor. But that's, I want the Avengers, everyone knows this, I want it back to my dream is to the six person squad, you know, like six to eight people. I don't want every Avengers to be a
huge event. That's where I think Captain Marvel should go. I would not, if I was asked me, I would not roll the dice on a Captain Marvel 3, in my opinion. Maybe a few years from now when things are going great, sure, but I personally wouldn't. I wouldn't do that. Let's see here. Okay, let's end this off.
Glad DC did Lantern. It's not his homework movie. Just different story, expanded characters, but if you don't watch it, people won't be confused. Yeah, I agree. So far, it seems like that, so I agree. I hope Cersei shows up in live action and grill a grog. That's great. But if not, probably a jerk. Gigantia. Emma Frost is a character. Looking forward to seeing who is yours in the X-Men movie. And so I'm speed running is, um, yeah. Um, take Sadie Sink out of it. Cause I thought, I thought, I think so far they've killed it with their casting.
I've not seen much of Kit Conner, uh, but look wise, they got that down. Um, Sadie Sink, I thought when it was rumored, she was Jean Grey. I said, Hey, this would be fucking perfect. And she's Jean Grey and she was perfect brand new day. So I think that's great. I think Adam Driver's going to be a fantastic Sinister.
Still would love him to be a Magneto, but I think he'll be fantastic there. Maya Boy, I think is her name, right? Who's Storm? Also, we don't have game tape on her. She looks the part, so that's great. Fuck, who else am I missing? The guy that is playing Iceman, I like him. No, he's playing Angel, I like him.
He's good. I'm missing somebody. We don't have Beast yet, right? Rogue. Oh, Indy Navaretti, right. Um, that's tough. Because I'm not mentioning yours. I'm not mentioning yours because I think I agree. I think, and even on, let's say Sadie Sink wasn't in Brand New Day. I'd still say she's perfect for Jean. But the one I'm looking forward to is Samara Weaving as Emma Frost. I'm not saying that because obviously she had that very spicy video that came out last week where we were doing the splits and doing the twerking stuff. Yes.
Samara Weaving, no fucking shit. She is a break glass, drop dead gorgeous lady, right? But she's also a phenomenal actress. It's not one of those things where it's just a look thing, right? I think, and granted, I think there's just things that she has done and even look at her personality where it is, oh, this is perfect. It is not made to the same extent, but it's like a Ryan playing Deadpool. You know, it's like a Danny playing Stark where it's like, there's personality traits that you just share, and I think that can sometimes be great, right?
I give someone more credit, like Hugh Jackman, who is not like Wolverine. He has to put on a whole different performance, but as far as her being Emma Frost, it's hard not to be excited about that. You know, like, it's hard not to be... Iceman, yeah, hasn't been cast. Yeah, same with Beast. Yeah, it's hard not to be excited, so I think it's that. Because if I'm counting Sadie, it's a tie, because I think Sadie really broadened. If she gets to be the leader, then it's her. Indy Navarrete, I, to me, have to I need more game tape. I have not seen anything else, and I think that she was phenomenal in Obsession, right? It's just a question of, is the X-Men script that powerful? Like, is it like, that's her starring, it's a really juicy role. I'm not saying, like,
if you ask me, is she going to be great? Yeah, she's a great hire, so I think I have no worries there. But it's just like, she's not as experienced as some of the others, right? So I think I'm the most intrigued, but Indiana Everett is rogue. Most excited? Definitely Emma Frost. Definitely Emma Frost, so... Any interest in Josh Hardnett? Show below. Yeah, it's funny. At the gym this morning, there was a preview. And unlike you, we were talking about that there's so much TV. But who else was in there? It was him, Charlie Heaton Wright from Netflix. And then there was, who was the blonde girl? Oh, fuck. Yeah, I completely forgot. Then this shot up. I'm a huge Mackenzie Davis guy. She's somewhat, oh, and Rowan Campbell's in there, too.
Fuck Corey from Halloween 3. Mackenzie Davis is on that list, like Dacre Montgomery or Dacre, however you say his name. There's a list. Maybe that'd be a good try. I just told you of the last 10 years who I thought was going to blow up. When I saw San Junipero, I was like, Mackenzie Davis is the next fucking, and she still should be, next fucking big star. I think she is She's good at performance, but she's also one of the best actresses I've seen in this current generation of feeling like a real person, which so many people play like a real person, but it's like they're playing the real person. No, there's something genuine about Mackenzie Davis.
So actually, Mike, I heard her about this because Emily told me it was, and I saw a preview today. It's kind of interesting. I like this new era of HeartNet. But now Mackenzie Davis being there, I actually didn't know that, and that's why now I remember she told me because she knows I'm a big Mackenzie Davis fan. So that probably will shoot up. I don't know. Carrie, I'm watching slowly because I'm watching that with Emily because I have to watch everything for the podcast. And of course, she was like, yeah, I don't really have any interest in Carrie.
I haven't seen the other ones yet. And then she saw a preview. He's like, Oh, I want to see that. And she's a Flanagan person. She likes this stuff. So I'm slower on that, but I'm four episodes in Michael fully talk about it tonight. Um, but that's what I'm watching with her. So I do need stuff. Um, in like the middle of the day. And what am I watching right now? I think I'm giving up on American horror story till I can binge it. I'm watching more like Halloween stuff, but So we'll see. I have Friday the 13th at Crystal Lake on Thursday, and that's a whole eight-episode binge. But I think, Mike, thank you for bringing it up. I think I will probably in October because Mackenzie Davis, hell yeah, brother. So, yeah, I'll circle
back to that. I have her good things. Let's see here. Next year, it's always funny. You know, the shows where I have these big topics, questions, all through. The shows where it's the quieter ones, when I need more topics, you know, always quiet. But today, I'm going to still go because you guys are here. Next year, Skydance Animation Netflix contract expires, so they will use them. for the 30 movie thing. Absolutely. Right. And we've said that before.
That's where it's like, one, it's only a five year rule, I think. And two, they could come to us next year and be like, Hey, you know, you guys are putting out for love your second movie at GVS studios. We're going to buy it for 500 K and here you go. Right. Like, and they can just put in the theaters for a little bit. It's like the Oscar run.
So yeah, the 30 movies thing we talked about a couple weeks ago, all the demands that they're like, Oh, we, we, we met in the middle. We made some demands. No, you didn't. You fucking bent over. I thought those were all shit demands. So, Yeah, I've always had this on the list, and Mike says, watch Halt and Catch Fire. It's... Fuck, Lee Pace, and who's the third one? Can you tell me the third one? But it's always been on my list.
It's always been my go-to, so one day I'm going to. The actress who played Emma Frost was in a hide-and-seek horror movie. Is it a hide-and-seek horror movie, or are you just not ready or not? Yeah, of course. Since we're getting Emma Frost, we might get Kitty Pryde. Secretly, since they debuted in Uncanny X-Men... the same issue together.
She might break Emma Frost out of the prison in the end. Maybe you could do that in two. I'm personally still fine with, because who do we got? I did not think Angel, and I thought Iceman maybe. I did not think Angel would be in this. Obviously, lots of us think that's the setup for Apocalypse. To me, if you have, and we don't even know where Emma is, right?
She could be on the bad side, or she could be an X-Men. Maybe she could transfer over, but let's not count Emma. Even Rogue, right? But Yeah, with Rogue it's tough, because I think Rogue could also be a villain. But let's say you for sure got Cyclops, Beast, Jean, Warren, so Angel, and then Storm. So that's five. And I know someone's like, oh, Rogue. Rogue's been a villain before, so maybe she's not on the team. But if you got Rogue, that's six. I'm fine with going the Avengers route of keeping it that way. I love Kitty Pryde, but I think you could wait. I think she could be in, like, the second wave of mutants of, like, maybe do a movie or two. And then she's like the next one up too, because she leads the XM, right?
Maybe bring her in with the Colossus and stuff. I think you could wait. You could easily bring her in. You could bring any of these characters, right? We know at one point Wolverine's going to get in there. And still think you'd have Charles. He counts as like a seventh. If it's just like, he's going to get lots of screen time, right? So I'm kind of fine. Cause if Angel and Iceman weren't in this, then I'd say, okay, we could do them in there. And yeah, Kitty probably could be a villain first, but I just think if we have already Emma Frost and Sinister, we're good. And even Ro could be a villain. I think we're kind of all good around. There's even Jubilee rumors still, right?
So I think that to me, I'm fine with the six to eight characters. OG Avengers, like the main ones, of course, fill the school up. But I think that's where I'm good on, you know? So my goodness. What are your thoughts on Grant Morrison, Ethan Venture, trashing the Lanterns finale? That's their opinion, right? If you value Grant Morrison's opinion, and I guess there's two ways. Either if you're not watching the show and you go, hey, I, I agree with most people. I agree with Grant Morrison's takes and don't watch the show. It's the same thing.
If like people, if anyone's listening to show and agree with my takes and I say, I don't really check this out, then you probably shouldn't check it out. Right. If you don't agree with my takes and you agree more Taylor, then listen to him. Right. So that's right to me. It doesn't matter. Cause it's just like, that's their opinions. Right. And off, I am seeing Ethan Vaughn, whatever.
I know he's a controversial figure. I can't remember what for, but just don't, Hunter, don't pay attention to that stuff. I've told you that before. Don't like, it doesn't matter. if you like, and I don't, I saw some of Grant Morrison's quotes. I don't, I didn't think he was trashing it. Ethan, maybe I haven't seen him, but I know he's a bit more of like a, like, I think like a, a grifter sort of, I don't even know.
I'm speaking on my own ass, but I think I've just seen things from the past that are more like, Oh, he's going for reaction. But like from what the quotes I saw from Grant, he wasn't trashing. And if he is like, Oh, I guess, why does it matter? Right. Because it's all matters of what you thought about. And nobody that's Washington show is going to care about, what Grant Morrison thinks, really, you know, like, that, I mean, and I'm talking about the general audience, they don't even know who Grant Morrison is, right, and even then, like, he'd like some stuff, and I think that's fine, too, like, from the comments I saw from Grant, nothing felt like it was, like, a grifting, so, it doesn't matter, that's
his opinion, so, maybe he came on there, and this is dog shit, that's what he thinks, right, like, that's what you gotta do, right, um, let's see, Johnny Dome says, thoughts on DC hiring actors that Marvel got rid of, like, the original War Machine, and Edward Norton, and the Ant-Man 3 villain, Um, Norn I would love because Norn is a phenomenal actor. I would always love to see more of.
Hang on one second. Let's see. One second. Um, I was always in the camp that I wish, uh, Edward, I like my Ruff Lolotus Hulk. I always wish Edward Norton stayed. I thought he was a perfect banner. So I would be down for him. Like I'm down for anybody, right? Those are all good actors. Corey Stoll, Terrence Howard. But I hope it's not just like, oh, because Marvel, stick to them. No, just like, hopefully someone wrote a role, and they saw, and went, oh, this is perfect for Norton.
That's what you need to do, right? And this is where I get to probably bow out and disappoint you. Do you prefer the Absolute comic series or the Midnight comic series right now from DC and Marvel? I have not read any of the Absolute. I'm terrible. I've said this. This year was my catch-up on video games. Next year...
is my catch-up on comics. I have a huge backlog, and especially Absolute Batman. I was so fucking excited. I loved everything about the concept, the things I've heard about I love. I do think Scott Snyder's the best Batman writer of all time. I don't care if it's more recent bias. I think he has the track record to prove it. I think everything they're doing there is great.
I think what they do in the comics, the movies have to do. The Midnight Universe right now, I will check out maybe once I hear more about. I didn't, when I saw Absolute Batman, I was like, did the Leo like, yes, I'm excited. Midnight Spider-Man, I was like, All right. Like I, I, I wasn't doing backflips. I wasn't looking for like the dark spiders, Batman, but if people enjoy it and have good things to say about, I'm a horror guy. I'll check it out. So I probably will make that like a trash told you or something when I do an absolute Batman, like full read. Um, because I, I, I'm looking very forward to getting there.
I just haven't even had time. Right. Uh, so yeah, we will see, but thank you everyone that tuned into this episode went a little longer, but thank you very much to being in the chat. I will be back maybe, I don't know now, because I got the twins home sick, so we'll see. I still want to do my top 10 horror movies. I was going to do a Flanagan ranking, but I think I'm going to wait until Exorcist Martyrs, actually.
So there'll be some other stuff. But yeah, so obviously if you're a patron, look out for the schedule. It'll be there. Thank you very much to everyone that was in the chat, everyone that listened live or after the fact. And I promise when you hear from me next, I'll be more.
