Hello, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the very first episode of the Vision Quest review series. I am Snow Travis Dresnell. I'm joined by.
A good guy, Taylor Field.
A good guy. There we go, ladies and gentlemen. We are here to talk about, as I said, Vision Quest. Technically, it's episode one, but we're going to be talking about episode one and two. We will do an overall non-spoiler thought because we had a couple people in the Discord I saw say... hey, I canceled my Disney Plus and I'm not watching this. And I think there's a lot of people nowadays with the Marvel stuff that are maybe a bit more hesitant, right? Because I feel like there's been some big highs, some very low lows, and a bunch of in the middle. So usually we just jump into spoilers once we get into the shows, but for this we'll do non-spoilers. So yeah, and we'll be here, should be here every week. I think they did the
next two weeks are also two drops and that's like seven and eight. So you know, thank you to Marvel for just always messing up the calendar and the schedule, and I had the whole month planned, but here we are. We're talking about it. Hopefully, in the future, we'll have Dylan and Kirkland join us, but you never know. Again, you never know.
It's hard. You know, if you're not there for the first, like, one or two episodes, it's hard to kind of catch up and get into it for the reviews.
Well, especially for... They're dropping at four now. Like, if you're starting next week, there'll be four episodes you've got to watch, right?
Oh, yes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But Kirkland was... What was it? He was going to be on Wednesday. Well, yeah, but he was supposed to be on this one for Wednesday, but then Marvel changed it around. But Taylor Field, what are your thoughts on the first two episodes of Vision Quest, obviously in a non-spoiler fashion before we get to the spoilers for this first episode?
Non-spoiler fashion. This show fucking rocks, man. I am loving this show. And I mean, initially when the show was coming out, you're like, okay, yeah, like, I'm interested to see what's going on with Snow Vision after WandaVision. Of course, it's been a long time. You get that first trailer, I'm like, okay, yeah, yeah, it's okay. You get the next trailer, I was like, okay, I got some excitement now.
There's some juice here. And now, finally, getting into that first episode, it did not take long to hook me in. And just to kind of pick up, okay, where we are in the story, what's kind of going on here, and there's just kind of... the first episode does a really nice job at showing off the aesthetic and just the environment that they've created. And I have to say, like if I was to work on a movie set or like a film set of some kind, I feel like this would be such an awesome set to where I don't know, like the scale between CGI and like practicality, but I feel.
Like there's there for a lot of it though.
But that's true. But I feel like just the props and stuff like that is like, there's a lot of cool things in here. Like the, um, vision-o-meter like just you know they're using the name around just to create fun little props and things like that is that kind of stuff but then they introduce you to a few other things in the narrative that are just kind of affiliated with vision i thought this is freaking awesome i really really love this because it just feels like a great kind of homage to um like iron man i get or like tony stark And just kind of like a bit of that legacy and just all the different, you know, the movies that we've kind of progressed with Tony Stark and his technology and all that kind of stuff.
And I just think this is, just with Stark Industries, I love this. And it just, it's, yeah, it's hitting for me. It's hitting so well. That first episode was great. Second episode, I loved it. I thought it was fantastic. And it ended and I thought, man, I just want this to be a binge watch. I hope binge watch.
I want to go and watch this. the rest of these episodes. Cause it was just super fantastic. And I'm just on like a high with, with this show. Like it was, it was great. It was really great. And, um, Oh my gosh, I'm drawing a blank right now.
James Spader.
Thank you. Yes. Uh, man. Fantastic. He was just, he was, he was, he had so many lines and so many different, like, um, just moments that I was very much, uh, enjoying, um, very much enjoy i don't think there's a character in here that i really haven't enjoyed and i feel like we've really just seen like people just really kind of bring their their a game so far.
There's no character in here you don't enjoy it.
No i'm sure there is for you i'm sure there is uh one or two but um.
Really okay yeah it's just one just.
One if it's the one that i'm thinking who.
Do you think it is i don't think it's a spoiler is it the sun nope I got no.
Okay, okay, good.
That's all in the pro category.
Because I feel like he's... Yeah, he's fantastic.
Even though I wasn't sure with... Is he supposed to have an accent?
The son?
Yeah. I just felt like his... He had multiple accents, not by choice. It felt like maybe they were slipping a couple times. It wasn't a major thing. I may have to listen to it again. Or I'll look more.
Because he's two people, right? You know, so... breaks in between accent and non-accent.
What a way to get away with it. But no, I had no issues with the sun for my spoilers and my thoughts.
Okay, then it's got to be the antagonist. Maybe. Yeah. That's fair. You know what I'll say? Of all the other characters that I would equate that antagonist to, you know in The Boys, you got that the dog guy who like sniffs and stuff like that.
Oh God.
Yeah. That's him. He's the equivalent I'd say.
See, the problem is, do you have any more thoughts? No, no, no.
Take it away. Okay.
Uh, that's the really only big, like big negative. I have, I don't think I have little negatives or cons, but, uh, I'll say that as the first two episodes, I really enjoyed it, but I also wasn't, I'm not like dying for next week. Right. And we'll see how that goes. My hope is that it's kind of a, a gradual build, because I think we saw that a lot with the Disney Plus shows. The ones that are great, that was fine, but the ones that even were, like even Secret Invasion, I remember really liking the premiere. I remember Born Again liking the premiere. I think there's another one where the premieres, the first two episodes are good, and then it was just like a big decline. So it's not that, so there's other two ways. Either it's going to gradually build
for me, or it's starting, it's like, okay, this is good, and then it's going to get worse, which is not great. But no, it was good. The villain was my yeah, my big Connor and the antagonist, because yeah, I know who you're comparing it to the dog guy and the boys. I think my problem though, with that is that guy's supposed to be like comedic kind of a joke. And the problem is here. You might go, Oh, well, it's the MCU. They joke. We're all out there. Lots of quips.
I don't think they're like, it's, it's, we, it's a weird push and pull. They're doing where I, nothing about that. We've been described this character. I don't think, I think it might be out there, but if not, it's a Myers boys. He's a bounty hunter.
Okay.
And everything they tell us about this character, everything other characters say about this character, should be a scary, very serious character. It feels like the actor got different notes, and I don't think it's bad per se, but it's like, oh, you're going to be this type of... I'll say he's kind of goofy, and what they describe him as is not goofy at all. I feel like the actor you should be, and obviously maybe not budgetary to get him, but a Negan Walking Dead type of vibe. It feels like that's what they want it to be, but then he just feels like this kind of Barney Fife, like, I don't know. It just feels like Spy Kids. Like, it feels very kiddy. And it's weird because the rest of the show is not that. There's deaths. It's serious.
I love a good... Even though I think we've kind of been here before, there's a moment where two things. They are doing a lot of the, like Taylor said, lots of fun Easter eggs and lots of the world of Vision. Because it's not a big spoiler. There's Vision in the real world and there's Vision in his head with all the different A.I.s. And that's all, I think for the most part, great. I love there's at one point, they're all talking around a fireplace and the fireplace is like a pixelated fire. It looks like some museum Minecraft.
So it's very well thought out, but I'd say that's where, so the villains, the only like major con I have. And then other than like, it didn't hook me, hook me. It was good. So that's good. I'm excited to see more, but I'm not like it. Like if I were to all, if someone on the reverse where you're like, Oh, I want to binge it all. If someone were to say, Hey Travis, you can't see this till it's all over big. Okay.
I can wait as of right now. So we'll see how that goes. So I think a lot of the world building, there's some mystery aspects already. There's a moment where they get like a transmission and they go, what's going on? That's very WandaVision. So it's good, but it also just feels like we've kind of been here before.
And this is in the trailer. This is not a spoiler. Vision is constantly watching his life back to try and like recalculate stuff.
It's not a.
Complete one-to-one, but I just feel like we're back at Loki season one where Loki's watching his life. And that was a little bit different because it turned him into a good guy. But that's where I'd say, like, there's some good stuff here, but it also feels like a lot of, ah, we've kind of been here, done that.
But the good thing about this, probably the strongest thing, is all the actors are good in here. But yeah, it's definitely Spader and Paul Bettany. Spader is playing Ultron, but it's like a very, like, I think you probably picked it from the trailer, a more subdued, different version, a bit more cheeky, a bit more humorous. But, you know, he was like that. That's one thing I did not like in the Ultron movie. I did not like how funny Ultron was. But hey, they based him off some parts of the personality of Tony Stark, and they've carried that over here. So for the MCU old chaunt, it matches up there. And yeah, Paul Bettany's great at playing this kind of lost soul that is smart, but like the smartest guy in the room, but also has no
clue at the same time. And then also feels like a little deceiving. So no, I think it's a good setup. I like the kid they got for Tommy. I don't think I've seen him kid. I don't even know how old he is, but I don't know. I've not seen him in anything else, but I liked him. I liked the mini origin we got here. And yeah, I think it was smart, too, and I imagine the other episodes, because I'd say it's not like a slow show. I'm enjoying all the conversations, and there's some action going on, but I don't think it's going to be a super action-heavy-oriented show, especially because where we are right now, Vision's going up against, I'd say, like some some easy suspects right so there's not much like oh this is gonna
be a great fight scene just kind of like okay it's a fight scenes vision's gonna have to do what he does so i think they're probably smart to drop this two at a time to the penultimate finale because there is you might need some stuff for people that aren't like marvel diehards diehards to hang on to but uh yeah, I'm curious where we're going. I like what we've seen so far. Acting is all good. And even that villain, I don't even per se think the guy is a bad actor. I think it's just that whatever they have given him to do, unless it was his choice, but it just doesn't match. It is, you've ordered something on the menu, you saw the picture, and then when it gets to your table, you're like, this doesn't look
at all like what I was hoping. Or it's like, they show you this massive burger, and it's like, oh, just the one patty. You're like, okay, like it's still a burger, but it's not the burger I ordered, so... Yeah, I think I would recommend if you are kind of on the fence, if you really love the WandaVision kind of trippy stuff, it's not to that extent, but there's layers to it. And I think they are doing some fun stuff with Vision. But if you also are like, if you like that enough or you don't care that much about Vision, I'd say as of right now, you could probably wait. And maybe next week I'll be changing my tune. But I was on the fence of I think you could This isn't a show that I'm running, especially in a world right now where there's so much
out right now, like Carrie and Below, and people can still watch Vampire Lestat, that type of stuff. Kirkland's out there somewhere. But yeah, it's tough in a world where there's so much must-see TV and movies to be like, you've got to see this. For me, this wasn't, but for Taylor, it was. So anything else non-spoilers before we break this down?
Negative.
Okay, so we'll break this down. We won't take an ad break because we're only 11 minutes in, so... We pick up with Vision, and obviously, I think this fits with the show, but it's very much alike. Let's recap everybody about Vision and Wanda as quickly as we can, in case you've never watched, which you kind of have to do, but at the same time, it's interesting. We're watching a show about Vision, and we're in Phase 6, and it's 2027. It's, you know, because when the MCU started, 28, so we're in 08, so we're almost 20 years. I think they do their best job of catching you up, but it is a tough thing of there's a lot of backstory you need to have know to enjoy the show. So, and I, I think they're doing a, I think they're
doing it as good enough job as they could possible to get someone to springboard and jump in. But I don't think it is a Marvel show where you could just jump in by itself. I feel like you are missing a lot of the context and a lot of the character motivations. They're trying their best. Um, but yeah, we meet him. He's at some sort of diner where he's working a shift. He, at one point he's walking with all these like beer kegs. He's like three of them.
The lady, what was her lady? What was her name, Taylor? Fiona, right? Fiona. That was working at the bar with him.
Was it Fiona?
I think.
I couldn't remember it earlier.
I think it's Fiona. And I guess if I didn't mention, we're in spoilers now. So we're in spoilers. You know, he picks those up. No issue, because obviously he's still like an android. Oh, you're back. Oh, yeah, I'm back. And he's kind of speaking in a turn. So he's working this job. We do get some backstory that this is, I guess, at the time when him and Wanda were dating, that they stopped her frequently. He looks underneath like a like a bar tab or something and he sees that there's a heart with one vision carved into it very nice so he's working there just to survey the situation he does confirm that he knows wanda is dead he said that wanda died by getting crushed by a mountain uh fiona thought it was in a mental sense yeah
figuratively speaking but it is not but so at least vision we know that now vision does know she's dead and then uh he does get in his mind but yeah what do you think of vision just uh He's here working as a bartender or whatever. No, but just he's working at a bar right now.
Oh, I loved it. Again, the setting was great, and it didn't take long because you think like, oh, is this like a flashback in the past? It was like, okay, no, you pick up really quick. He's revisiting the areas of the memories that he was given, and I'm okay with the flashback, or the catch-up, I guess I should say, because it's been a long freaking time. Was it 2020, like six years later?
Twenty-one.
21, so five years going into six. I'm definitely down for them to kind of catch us up to what's going on because that was a long time ago where Snow Vision was there and Ship of Theseus Elaborate, and then he just fucking blips out of there, and that's it. And then we've gotten all this shit with Snow Vision to really figure out. So it makes sense that he's experiencing his memories, his visions, and whatnot. So I like that.
I like it a lot that he's here. I like that he's just got this simple life and he's got this bickering thing with this bartender. Yeah, and I don't imagine we're going to get a lot of other places of his past that he's going to be revisiting. Maybe with Tommy, but I don't think this. I think this is just the part where it introduces it.
Where would they go? Westview and just terrorize those people again?
I don't think they'll go back there.
They didn't Agatha, though, remember?
Yeah, but Agatha was trapped already there. So it makes sense to kind of like, she's in Westview.
Yeah, I guess you're right. Yeah, you're right. Yeah.
But there's no pull, I think, to go there. And I don't think that Bob Billy was going to still be lingering in Westview either. He's probably gotten out. Tommy.
This is Tommy. No, but Billy was in Westview.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he wouldn't stay there.
Yeah. Yeah, I did feel that was like a little... I'm jumping ahead, but at one point when the humans track him down, like the SWAT team and Paladin, and they track him down, within, I don't know, maybe it's the next day, maybe it's a couple hours, Vision just broadcasts all over the news.
I know, and the way his face, it's that bubble. How would you feel if you're Sam Wilson? You're like, oh, fuck, another real Avengers resurfaced.
I had to fight the Red Hulk and Leader, and this guy's just fucking floating around.
He's in this bar.
But even then, too, which I do appreciate that. There's one shot where Vision's face is all messed up on the TVs while Ultron and him are talking. They did try to make him seem a little scary, because Tommy was in his diary talking about how he thought he was a demon, because he's all red demon. With kind eyes. Yeah, at first when he said red demon, though, I'm like, Who the fuck was the red demon in WandaVision? Like, is fucking Mephisto rumors going to start again? Like, oh, no, it's Vision. But, yeah, I just, like, but do you think they would have broadcast that he was everywhere? Like, I don't think that would have been out there.
You don't think the news would have broadcasted that?
I'm saying it would have gone shut down. I don't think they would have, like, the big governments and stuff, they would have let you know that Vision was out there and alive.
I don't think it would have had time to hit the government. I think it would have just been... Like, it was local security, right? So... But no one.
They have people trying to get there. They have, like... I just.
I don't know. In the world we live in.
It's also a tactic.
It's a great way to flush a guy out by just having everyone report. Remember Bucky Barnes? No one saw him at all. And then fucking... What was his name? Zemo just... pretends to be him and then flushes him out and then it's a guy recognizes Bucky buying fucking fruits and shit and then swats on his ass.
But like do they want like who's gonna take down vision like the local.
Police no but the local it's not to take this not for the local police to take him down it's for how the hell this goes how this goes is okay they put his face everywhere someone calls it into local police paladins got the line tapped and gets there first.
All right I just thought All I'll say is I thought it felt very convenient for Tommy just to look over and just like, hey, my dad, you know? So that's fine. But after this shift, he goes in his little, he goes in the freezer. Vision transports himself to his kind of mind-like home. And he walks up. He has a very similar outfit the way he does in WandaVision.
And then he walks in there. And what we have been seeing from all the previews and rumors where all the people, the dummy, the you... Edith, Jarvis.
That was icing on the cake.
Holy shit. Which one?
Just all the AIs just popping in there over the years.
On Friday. But yeah, and especially the Jarvis one. I don't know if you know this because I don't think you follow it much, but that guy who plays Jarvis, he's the same guy that played Jarvis in the Peggy Carter show.
Oh.
Because that's a prequel and that's what Tony bases Jarvis off, like the butler he grew up with as a child. So that's where he was in that show. And then he was in Endgame, like you said. That was like the first time ever they acknowledged like the ABC shows, like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. I've never actually seen Agent Carter. It's kind of crazy. We've never talked about that. I've never seen it. Don't know what it was like. I heard, I think people liked it enough.
But yeah, so this happens and all of them are there. They're kind of doing their own functions, right? Dumb and You, they're the mechanics. Friday seems to kind of be like the go-to person. Edith, which is like like, all right, I guess they're like enforcing. She was like a very much like, I'm watching social media. I'm doing crazy stuff.
I don't know if I got that from Edith in the, uh, the Spiderman movie, but that's okay.
Sure.
Um, so that's all going on. And then also upstairs is Ultron who, uh, when he goes up there, it's in his natural Ultron form and vision requests. And Hey, can you, uh, you go back to being a human, you know, or do your human form, but yeah, obviously your tunnel has been non-spoilers, but what do you think of this whole setup with, uh, being in vision's mind and all the, you obviously mentioned the AI you like, but, uh, Yeah, this kind of mental home he has for himself, this programming.
That would have been a good nickname, though, for you. Sesame Chicken Calzone. Ultron just losing his shit. Like, what is this? Yeah.
How the mighty have fallen. This guy was taken over at the nice word about this chicken you know.
So and he's i like that too that he's complaining about how this is just a construct that vision has created and yet he still has a guy delivering food 40 minutes late to to ultron and it's just it's a it's all around just kind of a shitty experience and it Ultron just freaking out, flicking the, he's like, no tip for you. Actually, no, I'm going to give you a bad tip. This is more of an insult.
And he's doing that in his Ultron form. All of that, that was great. He was like, just like the, you know, the bad tenant upstairs who's just making noise and all that shit. So I love that. This, him going home in the cooler, the freezer, and just having all the other AIs hooked up in there. Yeah. Edith, Friday, Jarvis, and then the two robot arms. Um, that was just amazing.
I was eating all that up and, uh, I thought that was, that was just fan, fan freaking tastic. Do you remember what Edith stands for?
Even in death, I am the hero.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Good stuff. Um, yeah, no, I think, um, I think that was just a great ode and homage to just the Tony Stark, Stark Industries kind of legacy. So I really do enjoy that. And their banter was awesome. I like how they just really embody their personas a lot. And when you get to Ultron, it's really cool to have Spader just in his human form getting to act out this character a little bit more.
Hugo Weaving's like, oh, why can't that be me, you know?
Yeah.
Why can't I get a human-formed Red Skull again?
But yeah, I think that Ultron has just proven to be such an interesting, like really fleshed out here. With the movie, he was very much just, you're a bad guy, and you're going to be very comedic, like you said, and just kind of own it. And now in here, I just feel like he has so many different layers to him. And at first I thought, okay, you're the one that hired the... paladin to go and do this you're that distorted voice.
Well he didn't oh you're saying you thought.
That's what i thought it was but then he comes clean and says well i sent the pigeon to go and do some shit here because he's doing some shady shady shit um yeah but uh yeah like him it's funny because when he says like jarvis sacrificing himself wasn't my first choice or my second choice i feel like it was the dummies that he would have sacrificed or maybe maybe maybe um Edith. I could see Edith also getting kicked. Wow.
Edith brings out his fun side.
You know? Yeah, but they were bantering. They were bantering a lot before. But I should have seen it coming because you have this whole moment where Jarvis is just having a one-on-one with Vision. Yeah, right before. Yeah, right before. Just telling him, like, you got to just control your emotions. Yeah, brothers.
Yeah, I should have saw that coming too. I didn't really think about that because even though it's like, I don't, because, again, I don't like talking about time travel and that type of stuff, but it's like, I'm still trying to wonder, like, okay, so this vision was created, snow vision, and it's like, how does he actually have access to all the other AIs, right?
Well, they said he went to go get them, right? Did he?
Okay, then I missed that.
Yeah, he went into, like, a sword database and extracted them.
Okay, because then I just thought if they were kind of there, not a thing that was imagination, but had some programming, I was like, does it really make sense for him to, like, he has these AIs, and if you... one dies quotation marks you get more power but okay i can it's like clearing space in your computer so sure i can get that and doesn't mean he's gone forever right ultron's been gone for a while but he really just stored him which was interesting that he said like oh like what the old version you should have done so i guess in like age of ultron i guess when vision destroyed ultron he still knew there was a piece of him back there and kept.
Him or do you think he kept him he intentionally kept a bit of him yeah or.
Do you not think that's potentially ultron fucking with him And Ultron went into him, but he didn't know he was there. No, I think.
It doesn't seem like it would be Ultron fucking with him. Because Ultron didn't fuck with people mentally back before, right? He just... He had a plan, and he was executing it.
Well, no, but what if he's fucking with them now? Because that's the only move he has, is messing with people mentally, right? So I'm saying, when he explodes Ultron, right? And let's say he's up to nothing bad, but Ultron's in the back of Vision's mind somewhere. And Vision doesn't know that. And then when this Vision gets all those memories, he's poking around there. He says, oh, what's this? He bumps an Ultron. I think it's still the former of Vision put it in there. And if that's the case, then I want to know more about that. But I wouldn't put it past Ultron to fuck with him and be like, oh, yeah, you kept me alive.
I think Vision would know because I think Vision would just see all the memories that fake Vision gave him and could see that fake Vision, his memory was he actually absorbed a part of him.
Then when to keep him alive?
Why, to keep them alive? Yeah. Well, they just keep reiterating that vision, original vision, which is very merciful, right?
I guess. That's something where it's like, I didn't like... where was that in the movies? You know, like, and I'm not saying it wasn't there, but where was that? Like he was an immersive guy. Like it's, it's, it's also, he literally was told to shoot Sam out of the sky in civil war to Tony. He's like, yeah, sure.
And I'll shoot him, you know, like, I don't know.
It's also a, uh, we didn't, uh, plan for this back in the day. Now we're going to just write it into the narrative.
Yeah. Which is just like weird that he couldn't like, the fact that all these other AIs, you couldn't just make it that this Vision found Ultron. So it's not a big thing. I just thought it was interesting. Okay, so the Vision we knew and loved for some reason kept Ultron.
Why?
I would like to know why. I don't think we're ever going to get to know that, but I would like that expanded on a little bit because I think that's a big character piece because he did decide to destroy Ultron, right? So I really don't know. But yeah, like you said, I enjoy Spader here as well. Like I said, he has his stark mannerisms, but I've just grown to accept that. And he's tons of fun here.
He always looks like he's scheming, but he also doesn't have Too many moves, but he did that thing with the pigeon. I was happy that they revealed that he only sent the email out and he wasn't the big, dark voice. Now, is there still worry of me that he could still be that? He's playing double chess.
Maybe.
I hope not. At the same time, though, this has been a Marvel curse many times when it's, oh, evil voices hire Paladin and who's it going to be? I think in the Disney Plus era, we've had that being... more of a disappointing reveal than being a good reveal. So I hope they don't take too long to reveal that and like build it up because unless it is someone of note, but I just don't.
Who is it?
Like, is it? Cause technically does Paladin want him? He doesn't want him dead, right? He just wants them.
Or you think it's, it's a Billy.
That's the only thing, right? Like if it's, why would.
Billy just go get him then? yeah that's true why why hire paladin just pump adamantium shells into your fucking dad you know.
Yeah that's true so i really hope it's not billing now and even though the casualties and stuff i'm just trying to think of like who could it be and it's just like i just feel like we're there's i i wish it was maybe just paladin of hey yeah sword or whatever they want uh vision back and i'm here to come get them or some spin off a sword so we'll see or maybe it'll be like uh Remember that in WandaVision, the bad fucking sword guy? I mean bad, like he just sucked.
Yeah, Wanda flicked all the guns on him.
For that scene. What if it's him? He's back. Could be.
That's a bit of a reach.
But who's it going to be? I feel like it's either Billy, which I agree with you, that doesn't make much sense. It's either someone in the show, which I guess we haven't met them yet, but I don't know who in the show in Vision Quest would make sense. Or it's someone from the WandaVision trilogy, right? So it's someone in Agatha or WandaVision. I guess there's a fourth option of it's someone in the greater MCU, but I don't think it's going to be Hank Pym in there.
So does it mean who else would it be? Or it's just, I guess, a nobody. It's just a new character and it's going to be, oh, this again. But who would it be? It could be that guy. You tie it all together, right?
It would. I guess it would. I'm just curious because, I mean, just looking into it, people would speculate it's Sword, which makes sense. Billy Maximoff. Okay, so there's speculation with that. That would be interesting. But like you said, I don't think it is. A secret power broker or a tech rival. So who's the tech rival?
Not the power broker.
Oh, no. Not the power broker. But what about fucking... What's his name?
Walter Goggins?
Hammer.
Oh, Justin Hammer.
Justin Hammer. That would be fucking crazy. I would actually be... I'd be okay with that.
I want Hammer to come back, but not like this. Not like... But see, here's the problem. This is when they start to do these things, and then when it does end up being revealed to nobody, that's when people get disappointed. They've done this before, right? So I just... I think if it is nobody, they should get moving that soon, and... But yeah, so Ultron did send that out there. And yeah, I'm liking everything with Ultron right now.
I'm liking him being on the comedic side as far as I think they're not going too hard. I like his conversations with Vision that he's trying to... Again, he's like, oh, you should get out there and explore the world. He's definitely just poking the bear. It does not feel anything sincere. This current Vision did threaten to delete him. He didn't delete him, but he didn't threaten to. So Ultron, he's kind of worried there. But now Ultron, why do you think he's more.
Out at the end of episode two he's like in the car vision he's watching his son like before how do you get out well because the door opened but why did it open.
Oh i mean all they were diverting all the power like it takes power for them to keep ultron harnessed in that room right so they were diverting power to keep vision alive so system's down you know fence is down park is amok dinosaurs are loose so that's.
True and like can Ultron or can Vision not just put.
Him back probably afterwards but I don't think he will I think at this point like Ultron's out and he's just kind of like speaking to him and yeah Yeah.
Wants to see, introduce him to his grandson, all that gimmick.
You know?
That's right.
Yeah. Is that technically it, their father and son? That's how they're viewed?
I think so.
I always saw them as kind of, well, I guess Ultron did make... Yeah, he is the creator.
Just like Downey's his creator.
So is Thor the creator? Because Thor took the hammer and smacked it down.
No, he charged the battery. He didn't create the thing. He even said that. It was Banner and Stark.
As dads, that's what we do. We charge the battery. Charge the battery, yeah. Make some kids. All right.
Let's take our first ad break, and we'll be right back. And we are back. But no, I think it's Banner and Stark, which they did mention at this point. He's like, oh, well, we need some help. Who should we go to? Oh, we could go to Banner. We can go to Clint. which is, like, I appreciate it, but, like.
They said Clint?
I missed that.
Yeah, they said Clint Barton. Yeah. What is he going to do?
That's what I.
But.
You know what?
I actually respect that they said that we can go to Banner, we can go to Clint. We can't go to Sam or the leader of the Thunderbolts or anything like that. So just shitting on the current team, right?
He doesn't know them, right? He doesn't know any of the new Avengers, so, like, what's he going to do?
But he's seen the news, right? He knows.
What has he seen?
He's seen... them doing big potato stuff or whatever it is, right?
What if he shows up there and right away they're like, get up! And they turn on him.
He doesn't know he's Avengers. Sam just takes him down.
No, but Sam's not part of the new Avengers, right? Right now?
True, but you've got two Avengers teams. You've got Sam's Avengers and you've got the new Avengers.
But we don't know in the timeline right now if Sam's got his team yet, right? All he has is a little falcon who's in the hospital and he's like, I'm going to put together the Avengers. I think it's just happening now, Vision Quest. So it's like, We don't know what's going on. So Sam could have a team, but if he doesn't have a team, the only person he knows on that team is like Bucky. And it's like, I swear, I don't think they had a single, I don't think Vision and Bucky had a single conversation at all in those movies. No, I don't think they did.
What's your favorite Vision and Bucky conversation or scene?
Vision and Bucky?
Oh, man.
Does Vision and Bucky ever talk?
You know what my favorite scene is? What? The next one. The next one they're going to have. That's my favorite. No, there's no scene.
Doomsday. Let's see. No, they never talked to each other in the MCU. They both appear in Captain America Civil War and Infinity War fighting on opposite sides.
Yeah, we know that.
Interesting.
The same as Thor and Black Widow. They never had a single conversation.
Really?
Yeah. No lines spoken to each other. Isn't that nuts?
Thor and Black Widow are like Chandler and Phoebe of the Avengers.
That doesn't make any sense. Chandler and Phoebe talk all the time. There's a whole episode where Phoebe tries to seduce Chandler.
Oh, well, this person is wrong, then.
Yeah.
It was a Reddit post.
Who's that user?
The name is deleted, so the account's gone. Oh, yeah.
Yeah, they knew. They fucked up. Other people are on them, like, you fucking idiot. What are you talking about here? So, yeah. I talked about non-spoilers. There's not much more say in spoilers, but the Paladin guy, I just... Very cheesy. I won't say completely over the top. He's like, it's at a certain level. He's not like chewing the scenery. It's just, like I said, whether it's direction or the acting, it's just not, it was not working for me in the vibe.
I wish it was a more serious actor because sometimes I think, oh, well, if it's just, or a serious performance, oh, was it just going to be boring? I'll still, I guess, take boring over, you know, kind of unfunny because it just brings on the scenes and all the time. Like when he's talking back to his, you know, his money paying and all this other stuff, I'm like, man, I don't care about any of this going on right now.
And at one point when Vision punched him at the end of episode two, I was like, oh good, he's dead. And then I felt better. I was like, okay, he's just like a two episode minor boss. That's okay. And then when he survived and they're giving him info, I'm like, fuck, he's going to be around for like the rest of the show. So yeah, I am not a fan of Paladin, but how did you take Paladin and his little sidekick there?
Oh, yeah. I mean, they set the tone, but it's hard to take him seriously versus the comedy. And like, he's got these moments where he's talking to his, yeah, the sidekick, as you said. And it's just, it kind of pulls you out. One minute he's walking into the, which again, the scene was cool when it's him standing outside the bar and it's just blue light up in there.
And everyone's like, it's just me and Sammy left. Why'd you send us in here? You know, like Jesus Christ. And then he goes in there. And he looks at, he's like, sniper, I told you not to kill any civilians. And it is instant cap in the.
Because he's like, what did I say about killing civilians? And she says, no.
And so it sets the tone. And then it transitions to him just sitting there like, am I reading this right? Hexes, witches? Oh my, what in tarnation? I believe he said he drops a tarnation. So it's... Yeah, it kind of pulls you out just back and forth, back and forth. Then when he gets in there in his costume, his costume feels very out of place because, I don't know, he was wearing a suit the whole time, but now he's just going to wear his goggles and his costume. Yeah.
He's peculiar.
The costume fucking sucks.
The costume feels like something out of The Boys.
Yeah, and you're getting lower tier.
But he's a Daredevil villain, right? I was reading that he debuted in a Daredevil comic.
Did he look like that, though?
Let's see.
I feel like I don't have much history on Paladins. I've read Daredevil stuff, but I feel like this guy did not make a big footprint on my life here.
Oh, here. Let me pull it up. He looks definitely different. Yeah.
Let's take a look here. I can see what they're going for. Yeah, that middle look, though. With the red visor. That's what I feel like the show was doing. That's what they were looking for. But we got a low tier. Look at him in the right there. We didn't get the visor or anything. That's fine. Just didn't translate. So everything about it. Didn't like the suit. Didn't like the character.
Didn't like the writing of the character. Hope he died. But no, we're still here. Fun enough trap that he sets up a bunch of people who are going to be there and shoot Vision. And then he has an EMP room. So that was fun. I didn't like the... way for Vision to get out of it was just like, fight through it, Dad. Like, stand up. Like, he's just like, I have no powers. You gotta stand up. You gotta help me. And they smash through a door. He's like, okay.
And then we run out of ideas. There's nothing. Like, Tommy couldn't do anything. He's trying to pick these locks. Nothing's happening. That's another thing that bugged me a bunch this episode, too. Vision got shot countless of times. His clothes never got ruined. Not a single bolt hole in any of his fucking clothes. Just was bugging the shit out of him.
Well, the clothes... I think that was part of his recreation, right?
I guess you're right. Because he would just transition to.
Cape and stuff. I think he did that in Infinity War, too.
He's not wearing any fucking clothes, so I will rescind that. But I'm not going to rescind the EMP room. Just get up and fight harder. All right, I'll do that. We haven't talked about him yet. What did you think of Tommy Max? Yeah, Tommy Max.
Thomas Shepard. yeah he's on a shepherd here yeah yeah i was i was i was enjoying it i think his performance is top notch and um yeah it's it's the same it's it's just the the whole dynamic the struggle that wanda has bestowed upon both her kids and vision where it's just a different body which with the memories injected into them they all have the same problem right and so i think it's going to make for a really good bonding experience between tommy and vision because it's the the same thing the only one who's really conquered at this point is is wiccan it's billy so he's kind of embraced his his role as um wanda's son right so yeah yeah i i think the actor's doing a great job though and i hope we get
a little bit more lisa because i did like their chemistry and i like the kind of like energy they were they were having together yeah i.
Wonder because we To me, it's one of those things, if we don't, then we did not need her in the origin at all. As far as the meeting on the bus and that little moment, them, like, doing a con on that guy, if we only see her in episode one, you could just make that about Tommy. You know, you didn't really need her. So I would hope good writing, hopefully the show has that, you would bring said character back, but, uh, and how do you feel with the origin where he's pretty much being sent to a loony bin, uh, he broke out kind of accidentally because he was getting shocked and his hands were going really fast, he got a cuff, so how do you think of the origin of, uh, With Wiccan, it was, hey, he had an accident, coma,
wakes up, and it's like, oh, you know, this is going on, this is going on. So people are thinking, oh, that's why you're saying all this shit, because you're like, you know, you just woke up from a coma. So, of course, you'd be a little odd, where with Tommy, it just seems like they think he's fucking nuts. But what do you think about that and some of the origin story stuff going on there?
I liked it. I liked it a lot. I liked that you had, what was his name? Hugh... I don't remember the actor's name, but he played Jon Snow's buddy on the wall.
I know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, he was just super fucking pissed.
Wasn't he, like, Ed... No, he wasn't Ed Stark's... No, no, no. I was thinking he was Ed Stark's brother, but that wasn't that. That was another guy. He died, and then he came back as a zombie or whatever.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's right. So, I think... I just like... kind of made me laugh because he was like electrocuting Tommy with the electric baton. And then all of a sudden he just gets his neck is fucking fried. Like those are some bad life. And he's just so nonchalant, like, what's wrong with this thing? What's wrong with this thing?
You sound like a fucking Lord of the Rings orc over there.
Yeah. Well, I'm pretty sure he got some fucking brain damage from that goddamn charge. His veins were not looking good in his goddamn neck after that. You should definitely check it out. They did him dirty because, yeah, he's like, oh, look, I was waiting for you, Mr. Christmas. Welcome back. And he just starts talking to the guy like, I don't know what you think you're doing here, but this is mine. Yeah, just boom. He's out. Um, Yeah. Uh, everything with the bus, that was fine. Uh, I, the vibration power. So again, it's just because he can move really, really fast, right?
He's got the quick silver powers like his uncle. Yeah. Yeah.
That's why. So he's got that going on. Not really. Obviously he hasn't, uh, mastered them cause he just can do like, it seems like just things quick with his hands, not running yet.
Right. Not running it yet. Cause slight of hand.
Yeah. But even, but even, yeah, but that's why I thought he's going to run out of their vision, but he didn't, uh, that didn't happen.
No, which actually, that scene, I thoroughly enjoyed that when Vision walked in there and he's like, hi, I'm Vision, here for the trap. And then he pauses everything and just starts looking and assessing the situation. I really, really did like that. That was good.
Yeah, that was good. And then some little fun fight scenes in there and they assess the situation. So, yeah, what else? We talked about the sacrifice. We talked about the... Lots of fun Easter eggs with the Vision Might and all that stuff. That was a good time. Very WandaVision-coated there. Hmm. Is there anything else that we're missing in this so far?
Let me touch upon.
Hmm.
I can't think of anything.
I feel like there should be, but he knows Wanda's dead. Tommy got him. Where are Tommy and him off to? Just to hide for a bit?
I bet you he's going to try and track down Lisa. Yeah, Westview. They're going to Westview. I feel like he's going to try and track down Lisa.
Yeah.
And then after that, I don't know.
The poor civilians, you know? Like, they're just trying to live in Westview, and they... Pulls up, and this fucking guy is there. You know, the guy that was terrorizing the city.
Major PTSD. Yeah. Goddamn.
Got that. Ultron. So, Ultron... Because next week we have two. By episode four, is he out and about doing his stuff? Because this is obviously eight episodes he's out and about. Or do you think he'll still be locked down?
Well, he's not locked down now, so I don't think he's going to get locked down for.
A little bit. I mean, he can get into the ether, like get away, you know?
Hmm.
Take control of something.
Yeah, I don't know, because I'm not sure the parameters of where he is now. Because right now he's just a projection of what Vision's... like has and whatnot. So yeah. Is there wireless access? I think that their abilities is limited because of what vision has. I don't think vision has a lot of access to stuff right now based on his status.
He's on the wild. He's going to have to tap into some stuff, you know? So, and Ultron though, like he still looked like he was like watching when they went to those TVs, he's still watching a bunch of stuff and studying the human life and everything. So even when vision asks, like, what would you do? He's like, Oh, I'd go here, here, here in this opera. Uh, Or I would just destroy everybody. So it's like, I do think that Ultron, because he said, like, oh, we want to get things moving. He knew Vision was going to be hunted. But I think Ultron, at any point, if he can get out, he's going to get out, you know?
I would agree. Yeah. So it would be interesting to see in what context that is and what he's trying to do. And I like that whole setup of dialogue. Like, I go to the Louvre, go here and there. Or, you know, I'd rather get missile codes and start launching them. 50-50, flip a coin, see what happens. I mean, he's got that respect for humanity to a degree, but then he just sees all the flaws in it. Yeah. Yeah, and I mean, obviously I've seen the last trailer, you know that they're going to fight each other, but it's just, is it going to be for the mind? Is Ultron going to be fighting for Vision's body? Because initially in Age of Ultron, Vision's body was supposed to be for Ultron. Yeah, that's true. So is that what his plan is? He
can't get out into the ether? Is he just going to consume him and yeah, take over and it's tried to delete the vision and just replace him in the body, which I could see.
So yeah, I could see it too. So yeah, we'll have to see next week. We will be live again, roughly around the same time talking about episode three and four as usual, any theories or whatnot. I guess we should probably, uh, make a vision discord chat channel.
Hey, yes, we should flip over crafting for sure. Let's get in the lanterns.
What?
Or lanterns could be Clayface.
Yeah, you're right about that. Lanterns could be Clayface. Maybe Brand New Day. That probably makes sense, right?
That's a good idea.
Well, there you go. Join our Discord. I forgot to plug the fucking stream. So there you go. Extra Life, November 7th. Be there. Be square. Donate to BC Jones Hospital and unlock a bunch of benefits and things and we're going to put up a big spectacle. 24 hours, lots of events, lots of guests. I've been confirming people for the Trivia Battle, Taylor, so that's very fun and I'm going to get a few more people, then we're going to announce. We've got a fun, a different way of doing it this year. We're going to experiment. We're going to try it, see how it goes. But I think people are going to really like this. So we'll see what happens. But we'll be back next week. And I promise you, it'll not be boring.
Bye-bye.
