Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome back to Weekly Geek. I am the martyr, Traz Snell. I'm joined by.
The boycott, Taylor Field.
The boycott? What are you boycotting?
It's spoofing off of the Ali G trailer.
Oh, I see. Okay. I was ready to boycott this cast with the way Taylor... First of all, late for Vision Quest.
No, no, no.
Late.
Late. Two episodes, almost an hour long in kids' bedtime. Oh, my goodness. That's asking for trouble.
Late Provision Quest. And it's not even like the, oh, guys, I think we need some time. It's just me, so I'm stuck with it.
And then it's like, oh, I'm here. I didn't flake out like the other two boys.
Okay, Dylan has a new job.
I know, I know.
And Kirkland had busy on the schedule. So it's like, it's just me. And then at 8, 17, or it was like, 6.17 when the episode had been out for 17 minutes Taylor's like I'm trying I'm getting there it's like oh boy 17 minutes and then like at the end it's like 8.40 alright start episode 2 like oh my god in Christ and then after all and I said hey it gets too late I can't do this I got busy stuff I got things to do I gotta be up at 5am so it gets too late I can't do Weekly Geek and then what is it he's like oh and then we finish that Vision Quest finishes good enough so I'm like okay that's fine and then what does he say oh I got one more trailer to watch one more trailer to watch so We'll see where we start, but let me get a few
things out of the way. I don't know what's going on here. So we have this thing. This is the same commenter that was in the chat when I got attacked on the Lanterns review. JWFN7TH. What do you think that is, Taylor? What the fuck is that?
John Wick.
I hope it's not John Wick. John Wick.
Full North the 7th?
I don't know. I'm going to have to break that down. I'm going to have to get some decoders. I'll see if the person I'm hiring will do that as well because I also got an email. I'll show it. And I thank you to all the people in the Discord that were giving me some love for what happened. But I got this email in the GV inbox today saying, did it hurt? And it was from pansolo at pansolo.gmail.com.
Good for that, Pansolo. They got the gmail.com. It said, how did the hospital stay, or how was the hospital stay? Hope you liked a new scar from an old threat. And then it has some fucking Roman numeral. So I don't know what that Roman numeral is. I don't know. Again, I've talked to Dylan. I've talked to Kirkland. I'm going to see if I can trace the, do some vision quest stuff and trace the embedded source of this email, where it came from. I know VPNs exist, but I'm going to try my best. Listen, I don't know. Now, I'll tell you the last time, Lanchins, it I don't know what to say. I know it wasn't Taylor. Taylor taking the hustle was good. Dylan, I don't know. Kirkland, I don't know. But I'm feeling good on them right
now with some of the evidence I have. I'm just. I don't need any more games. Listen, I don't know. I know we do this all, but you know what happens? Eventually the person just reveals himself. And that's what I'm saying. Next time you come to the tap meet, whatever... just reveal yourself, let's get this over with, whatever it is, I'm not sure if you're a fan, I'm not sure if you're someone from the past, I don't know if you're Ruben, if Ruben's mad that I eliminated him, I don't know if it's Kyle, I don't know if it's somebody else, like, just, let's get on with it, okay, I got so much stuff, I'm editing two films right now, got the day job, got this job, got extra life, got so much stuff to do, I'm talking to people
on daily, I don't have this time, I don't have time for this fucking shit on me, alright, so wherever you are, just reveal yourself, that's one, two, you can go, today there's something I saw about a shirt today, You can go and get all these shirts on Extra Life Tee Public right now. The link is, hit us up.
It's in the Discord. It's on the page. It's on social media. Not only did Taylor make two theme shirts for this year. We have a Grand Theft Auto themed shirt. And then we have a Resident Evil themed shirt. All the proceeds go towards B.C. Jones Hospital. And you get a great shirt. In honor of it being our 10th one, we've released all the shirts. So Fantastic Four, Lord of the Rings, X-Men, our hottest.
One, Barbie.
Until november 8th because the stream's november 7th you can buy any of those shirts again all proceeds go there and then they're all going to be locked up so this is a limited time so obviously the gta and res ones limited time but these other ones thought you'd never see them again get them because you never know you never know when they get my strike lord of the rings at one point was taken down it's back up so uh do that we very much appreciate that and then yeah november 7th we will be streaming for 24 hours for bc chones hospital lots of events we got uh We'll have a rundown soon, but we've got the Gauntlet Tournament. I can confirm that, yes, it looks like trivia is going to be a go with a
fun new spin on it. There's one event we're just waiting on. Norm Rees-Fiaz, Gauntlet 69, if you're listening. There's still an event we're doing, but we need a little extra to confirm what's going on there. And then, yeah, there's some stuff we can confirm on Patreon. So we're probably next week going to start confirming everything from the Gauntlet to what you can unlock if we raise certain amounts. Taylor, I guess you can announce. You're putting something on the line, right, for one of your unlocks?
Fuck, am I? What am I doing?
You pitched me on it.
The Call of Duty thing? No. What am I doing?
The anal waxing, live on air.
The anal waxing.
The looking in the camera. No, I thought, are you keeping your mustache?
Oh, the stache. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Fuck. My memory's going... Let me tell you, the fucking Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving weekend, the tryptophan.
Yeah.
The tryptophan, the turkey, the, oh, my God.
It's still hitting you, eh?
Yeah, it's still hitting me. Yeah.
I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, Canadians out there, you know?
Canadians, that's right. Yes, so the plan is I've not trimmed a stash at all for the past month. I'm going to keep growing bushy, bushy. And you're going to. I wanted to remove it, but it's not as bad with the, you know, the, the extra hair coming out through the sides. So the plan is before charity, uh, extra life, I'm going to trim or I'm going to clean shave everything else and leave my prominent stash. Cause that's the bushiest part. Cause I've been working on it for the past couple of weeks or a couple of months.
So that's a goal. 500, I think, or is it 750, 500? You tell me. Shake it off. That's your hair. Yeah, so we can do different stache styles, like nothing inappropriate.
You can do the Michael Jordan one.
Michael Jordan?
Yeah, search up Michael Jordan mustache. You can do that one. That'd be a fun one if you shaved it that way.
Isn't that... Hmm?
That's the Michael Jordan stash.
That's the Michael Jordan stash? I'm pretty sure I've seen that stash on some other historical figure as well.
You just shave it, and then when people ask you, you say you're rocking the Michael Jordan stash.
If I wasn't white, I would do it, but I don't think as a white person I should have that stash.
Well, there you go. Taylor's going to put stash on the line. I'll join him in some hair, so I've got no facial hair, but I think I'm going to put my hair on the line. Now, I'm not going to make it the $ 1, 000 tier.
The top, or are you talking down below it?
Yeah, the anal waxing that I was talking about. Lion Air. I'm going to have Kirkland do it. No, yeah, I think I'm going to because, one, I just need a haircut. I haven't figured out exactly what I'm filming yet. But I feel like in the new year, and I don't know what my hair is going to be because I have to– I think we've talked about this. I have a script that I'm giving to somebody. The last script got shot down for being a bit too– a bit too racy. So this, this script's a bit more of a safer version. So I'm giving that, that, and then that's going to dictate what I'm shooting. And then there's our other project that we're working on that I haven't decided what my hair is going to be like for
that character. So I thought, ah, you know what? I'm just going to shave and start anew. Cause I've complained about this many times that I grew it out on the top to do the shave sides, but then I've been growing it out for the Halloween costume, which I'm not going to spoil. I've not told you this, uh, but for Saturday for the Terrifier, uh, uh, commentary track you need to wear your halloween costume if you have one unless it's not ready for saturday well because we're not doing a halloween cast this year because um what's because what's going on because we have other stuff we're recording yeah like i guess we could do it on i guess we could do it on dexter and dress up for.
Because i've got i've got a costume that i was thinking of doing for our halloween party the podcast party and yeah whatnot so maybe i'll i'll I'll do that.
It won't be released until close to Halloween, though, Terrifier. So it's not going to spoil anything. The patrons will get it, of course. But yeah, what we're doing this weekend, everybody, we are, this is a DVD unlock. We are recording the Terrifier Watch Along commentary track with Kirkland. He already tried to get out of it. I asked him for 9 p.m. He's like, oh, I guess we don't have time to watch the Terrifier. I say, no, no, no.
You're watching Terrifier. Some behind the scenes, we're watching that. And then we are also, we're recording our, oh, Taylor didn't care. Big moment for us, you know. And this is the part where he comes in. He's like, oh, keep talking, keep talking. Big moment for us is off-sea December 4th. We're going to start promoting this a lot in November. I still got to put out the final trailer, people that watch GV Day saw it. But our very first film, Adrenochrome, is going to be releasing on YouTube publicly.
As we've said, what's going to happen is we're going to have the public one free for everyone to click on and watch. But then what we're recording over there for patrons and everybody that had bought a copy of the version or copy of the movie, We'll get this stuff, be grandfathered in, but we're going to be recording our commentary track for Adrenochrome this weekend, so it's very fun.
I'm looking very forward to that, because we never actually watched it together. We all watched it separately. I've not watched it in a good minute, because I needed a big break from that, but what's going to happen is, I'm hoping, that's the game plan, it's December 4th to have, December 4th, no matter what, the film's on YouTube, but then what's going to happen is if you join our Patreon producer tier, you're going to get, I think that's the tier we're going to put it at, or whatever the tier is, we'll look, I can't remember what we sold the Dranacom for, obviously again, if you bought a Dranacom, you're fine, maybe it'll just be the, I don't know, I'll take a look, I'll take a look, I can't
remember where we have it, but it's going to have a commentary track, it's going to have bloopers, which is Worth the price of admission. It's going to be some behind the scenes stuff. And yeah, there's a good little segment about all the injuries we obtained during that. Because we did, I actually have a scar from that movie on my belly. So we'll get into that. But yeah, we're recording the commentary track. So lots of good things happening.
And yeah, Extra Life, like I said, tons of events. Please donate. We're trying to raise $ 1, 000. There's going to be a bunch of events either that'll happen on the day. We've also said that, not also, Emily gave me this pitch, and I think I'll do it because I've shaved my head bald before, right? So I think what we're going to do is I think I'm going to give myself the big old cul-de-sac. If I hit a certain goal, I'm going to rock it for the stream. I'll shave it after because I'm not keeping that, but I'm going to shave the top. And then same thing like Taylor did a couple years ago. We'll do some dumb haircuts and styles with me. But that day, you like that idea, Taylor?
Dumb haircuts, I love it.
Well, yeah, because I said I've shaved before. Emily had the idea that I should give myself the cul-de-sac where I just shave and do the donut.
The cul-de-sac?
Yeah, get the donut up there.
What if it doesn't regrow? No, no, no.
Just for the stream. At the end, I'll cut it all. But if we hit it halfway through the stream. I'm not doing it during Gauntlet. I gotta look good during Gauntlet, but then do it that way. So yeah, there's gonna be goals to unlock for stuff on that day, for podcasts in the future. Tons of good stuff. All donations are tax deductible. We'd very much appreciate it. The link is down below. You can see Um, eventually we'll be updating all the information. You can see where the money goes towards families and needs, uh, people that are going to surgery, post-op, pre-op, uh, recovery, all that stuff. It's helped out a lot. We've helped a lot and all of you have helped a lot. So we very appreciate that. Again,
we are streaming for 24 hours. There is some downtime where we just play games, but we try our best to put on a big show for everybody, uh, that comes along. And if not just watch promoted all that jazz. So, Taylor Field, what was the trailer that delayed you for a little bit? We've got a lot of trailers. We're talking about Narnia. We're talking about Blade Runner. Actually, we're going to do Narnia first, and then I'm going to get back to the trailer that delayed you because I feel like that's the head honcho for a few reasons.
It created a few Discord debates. I saw online it was a very divisive trailer. I think we even talked about this a couple weeks ago where we said, hey, Narnia, what's it going to be like in this generation? What's it going to look like with Greta Gerwig? they got to nail that first trailer. So Taylor, where are you on Narnia? The, the nephews, the magician's nephew, uh, coming out in February, but this was the first trailer. Um, are you buying a stairway to heaven? Me, me and Taylor vote no. Go check out the discord. We voted no, but, uh, you know, good for her again, that, uh, that writes that song. But yeah, what did you think of this trailer?
First look at Greta Gerwig's Narnia.
Um, my favorite part again is just, seeing the events unfold like oh this scene like okay i i know what's going on here because it's in the book like oh this scene i know what's going on here oh yeah yeah like you can just you understand what they're telling you with the trailer um but the cgi man was way too much i i think i think the cgi yeah like when you see aslan and like they're just like it it my god they're like And the purple is all around them.
Look at this. Isn't it beautiful, son?
It looked really good.
Uh-oh, what's Madison need?
Oh, Madison says it reminds her of Thor Ragnarok.
Well, that's what I just did. I did the look at this. Isn't it beautiful, son? See? Me and Madison at the same time.
He was making a Ragnarok joke, so you guys are in sync.
We're trying to get our own podcast, so stop butting in. He says you can get your own podcast.
But yeah, it's too much CGI. Way too much CGI, I think, and that was pulling me out. Some of the stuff, the locations were looking pretty cool, but you're not going to get the magic that this should have, right? I mean... It's funny when you look at Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. That was the first book that came out.
And then The Magician's Nephew, I think that was like one of the last ones that came out. But in terms of the story.
You're lying to me. You told me The Magician's Nephew is the first book.
So in the terms of when it was written, Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was written and done first. And then The Magician's Nephew was written after. But that is the first story that takes place before.
What released first?
Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Hang on. You lied to me a couple weeks ago.
No, I didn't. No, I get what you're saying. It's a prequel. It ties back. But you had said the first book was The Magician's Nephew. You've been lying to me now for months, and I've told.
Other people that.
Yeah, in the story.
You have to read The Magician's Nephew first. That's the first book of the story.
But when Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe came out, nothing else was out, right?
Nothing else.
So I've told Emily that. I've told Dylan that. You've made me lie to multiple people now.
You knew the context. You got to do Magician's Nephew first.
No, you don't have to. It's like the Star Wars prequel. You don't have to watch the prequels. They're there. You don't have to. You can still enjoy A New Hope without it. So this whole time, I thought, oh, that's really weird that they started the movies with Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe. But no, you fucking just got me on a different path.
Well, that's because the path it was written.
He's going to be a fucking ringer tonight. Look.
The Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Those three were written first, I believe. That's why they were doing those movies for them. But Magician's Nephew, that's the start of the whole thing. It shows where the wardrobe came from. That's the white witch, the white queen, all that jazz. That's the lamppost, why it's in Narnia, all that jazz. So that's ground zero.
Even worse idea now, now that I know this. I thought it was the first book, and they just skipped to Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe, which you told me, in a matter of words. So I thought, okay, that's weird, but you get to the most popular book. I even talked about this to Emily. Like, wouldn't that be weird if some series did that? So you're starting with the prequel now.
So Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe came out in 1950. Caspian, 51. Don Treader, 52. Silverchair, 53. The Horse and His Boy, 54. Then Magician's Nephew is 55. Five years later, he wrote the... How it all started. Horse and His Boy, I believe, was second after Magician's Nephew.
I don't give a shit. The chronological order is the official order now. I don't give a shit. It's like George Lucas being like, oh, it's episode four now, and now that's episode one. I don't give a shit.
What do you mean, Mike? You mean line in which wardrobe is first? Or what does he imply?
No, he said the chronological order is the official order now. I think chronological meaning where the story is. Chronological with a story.
Well, yeah, the story starts with Magistus' nephew.
Yes.
Because that's what he wrote.
So that's what he's saying.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay.
So I think he's just saying even though it's like the prequels, even though George Lucas made that after, you're supposed to watch the prequels first, right? In George's mind, I think, right?
Probably.
Yeah, which I think is wrong because you ruin the twist. You ruin two twists. You ruin the Luke twist and the father, and then you ruin the Leia twist.
Well, he doesn't have any twists with Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. C.S. Lewis just... He's just world building. He's cooking. He's doing a book a year at this point. From 50 to 56. He's just like, let's pump these books up. He's sharing a pint with Tolkien.
He's fallen back on his book making. Okay, so you said effects, not doing it. Where were you on Stairway to Heaven?
That was definitely really pulling me out. That was not good song choice. Um, yeah, that was not good song, not good song choice. They, they should have done something a little bit more calm, a little bit more whimsical and like capturing the soul a little bit. Like just do you get that, that shot of them just dropping down this hell, uh, like elevator to hell. And, and it's just, yeah, there was nothing pulling me in with that song. It really just pulled me out. And again, you got the excessive CGI, uh, way too much cgi holy shit it was too much cgi and yeah like you got a couple moments in there like you got the pools which i really liked uh that world between worlds kind of set up too i really like that
um that's it's i'm not even kidding it's the world between worlds.
I know don't bring me back to the world between worlds fuck man um Soca season two.
And then just getting into the world, we're going to get the origin stuff about the witch queen and stuff like that. There's lots in here that I am looking forward to, but I still do get just concerned that visually there's going to be a few setbacks.
You'll probably have some stuff. You want to bring up this trailer while I bring my thoughts because I think they're worth looking at because I'm with Taylor completely. So I'm of two minds here, right? Both of them negative. both the negative where I can watch a trailer that I don't enjoy, but I can go, man, that looks like it's going to make a lot of money. They fucking nailed it.
Right.
Um, I do not think this trailer did that and nor did I enjoy it. I thought this trailer was not good. I thought it looked like a bunch of other movies that have come out. Well, you can pull... What the fuck?
Oh, wrong one. That's the one you were talking about, the trailer.
Get rid of that. We'll come back.
That's the movie, right? That's the right movie.
That is the right movie, not Narnia. That's not the nephew's magician, right? What's Greta Gerwig cooking up? Fuck it. Look at those visuals.
Um.
I did not like this trailer. To me, this, so like, and I can kind of combine my thoughts. this looked like a trailer and i posted the two things one the song choice no is it as bad as assassin's creed i am a god why can't you ask no it's not but i think that licensed music has to be it can't be used i'm not done yet today put it down um um It can be used, but I think it has to very much depend on the property.
And I know Mike made that joke, and other people did too, right? Like, oh, at least it's not like a slowdown epic version. The reason they do a lot of those slowdown dramatic things is because then it doesn't feel like a licensed song. It feels like it's something specific to that world. Even if it is licensed slowdown, it's like, oh, this is a new song. Stairway to Heaven, to me, like, I get the idea, and I heard why Greta, like, chose that song. I just... I just don't think it worked for the vibe of this trailer.
And the other trailer reminded me a lot of, and this is a movie that bombed big time, was, oh, why am I, oh, Wrinkle in Time. I don't know if you know what that movie was or anything like that, but that was this big thing where it was supposed to be a big Disney movie and Ava DuVernay was doing it. To me, I don't think this is a good trailer from my perspective. I'll still be there because I like Greta, right? I love everything she's done so far to varying degrees. So I'll be there and I'm going to, I haven't shown the kids the previews yet, I don't think Emily's going to like this, because already she was iffy on this, and I think when I show her this, she's going to be more iffy. So I didn't like the trailer, and I thought from a
selling standpoint, I just did not think that this made Narnia seem special. It didn't feel like an event type of movie to me, right? And this is where no matter what you want to say, and no way would I think Narnia's going to make a billion, but to me, you look at that first Mario trailer, and obviously they went on to use some music in the movie, and I think the vibe in the movie was not that, but that first trailer was like, wow, okay, they... they got the hooks, and that has a lot of big iconography, right, but just the vibe, the whimsy, the music, with this music, and these vibes, and I agree with Taylor completely, the visuals, this just looked, like, don't get me wrong, there's some shots that are good, and some, it's not, like, all bad,
but just, like, this looks just, there's so many shots that do not look real, that it just feels like the whole time I'm going to be checked out, and it's just, like, I get it, right? That's where the world is. And this is coming from a guy that, of course, loves Marvel stuff, right? So that happens all the time. But in this world, for me, I do need some... I think I need a bounce. And maybe in the movie, it will be bounce, where you'll get some realism and some practical stuff with the CGI. Like, the perfect office example is always Lord of the Rings, right?
Because tons of CGI in Lord of the Rings, but then a ton of practical stuff. This felt like the CGI effects was way heavying the other one, and it wasn't like looking like Dune, because obviously Dune is just tons of visual effects, but Dune's, like, the perfect, like, the, the A standard right now for effects now, right, or, like, Blade Runner 24, which also didn't need, like, or, you know, there's a couple other examples, but that would be the biggest one, and there's, we know a lot of reasons for that, the visuals in this were, it was, for me, not looking good, it was, there's a few shots, but, so, everything, and there's a couple things I understood, but that's where, for me, it's just the vibe, the paces, the music,
and the visuals, um, it didn't do it. And I, I don't know. Cause I know that they said eventually they're going to start, um, publishing the, cause I don't know if I think we might talk as well. I don't think so. Maybe that Netflix is going to start doing more wide releases. And then also next year, they're going to start reporting what they make on the box office.
I don't know if that's kicking in with Narnia. If it is, I, I might draft the movie when we, you know, when we, um, Like when we have a list, we pick 40 movies, right? So I'm sure it will be on there. But hey, if Dylan and Kirkland want it high, I'll let them have it. Before this trailer, if you would say, hey, Travis, this is a top five draft pick, I could see that. I could see this being a huge movie. After this trailer, I don't think so. I think it didn't have a good first impression.
And I don't think this makes the general audience. I don't think it made it stand out at all. That's my whole big thing. It just looked like another big blockbuster CGI sort of fest sort of movie. I don't think it captured the magic. And yeah, I don't think it's going to do well. I could be wrong. I've been wrong before. I did not think fucking the black and white Oppenheimer movie was going to do as well.
Me and Taylor both, we were in the same camp. We both thought like what? Odyssey would be like 700, 600 million. And it's at 1.8 or something billion. Huge movie. It did a whole billion more than what I thought it would have done. So I could be completely wrong. And maybe it's going to blow off the market. For me though, I don't see it happening. Personally after this trailer.
But now Taylor, you can bring this up. What's Madison watching tonight?
She's going through WandaVision, actually.
Oh, there you go. Okay.
Yeah. All right.
Play this a little bit here.
Let's see. Right off the hop, showing the wardrobe. That's clever. I think that's, yeah.
That's a good idea. Perfect.
And it was roping me in, too. I was eating that up.
Now the first book. Now come from the first book. That's the second book. How do you feel about, and I get what they're doing there. How do you feel about the look of, let's see. Yeah, pause it here. I get what they're doing. Nari's going to be magical. It's going to be colorful. All stuff. So I'm not saying this is even negative. How do you feel about the color palette of obviously the real world with no magic, all this fantastic stuff, very dour and kind of not dark in the content like a horror movie, but it looks very gloomy in the real world.
Yeah, and I think it makes absolute sense. I mean, we're looking at the 1920s or the 30s, right? It's abysmal time for humanity, but... post pre-war industrial, all that kind of stuff.
And that's the other thing too. I think there's a few things like a night's tales. Where are you on old songs in projects? Like when they didn't come out? Cause obviously 1920 steroid him by Led Zeppelin was not out. I'm usually not a fan of it.
Fantastic.
We will. Sure. But I say in general though, do you like the idea of, uh, like, If it's done tastefully, yes.
Stairway to Heaven was not done tastefully in this, in my opinion.
So does that not make you worried for the movie then? If the trailer's not even done tastefully?
I don't think they're going to do that.
I think they are.
You think Stairway to Heaven's going to be in the movie?
I thought that's what, when the quotes Mike shared, that was, I think she said, because I think the headline was it's the first time it's being used in a movie. Hang on, let me get. Well, okay, in the trailer. Okay. Marking the first time the song has been granted permission by the band to be used in a film. Okay, so it seems like it's like conflicting reports that it's just a trailer of the movie, because I've seen two different headlines, so I guess we'll see. I could see it being the movie, though.
Because it's like magic, and time doesn't have a purpose or whatever, but okay, continue. I think this is fine. It also gave me Fantastic Beasts vibes, unfortunately.
But Yes, it has a little bit of that, actually.
Which is not a vibe I like. That's not a vibe I like to rock with, but we'll see.
Yeah, so, yeah, I think, like, so far, this vibe is great. I like the real world. I think that's fantastic. And again, there's some very, like, imagery. I love this. I thought, oh, that's fucking clever. That's fun. Just the kind of, that setup. Yeah. Yeah, but again.
For the audio listeners, it's a horse and then a truck drives by that has, like, wings painted on it. It looks like the horse's wings.
Yeah, so again, you're dealing with, I mean, there's no magic in the human world here, right? All the other realms have all the magic and shit.
Yeah, I heard in this trailer some people were mad about this. Are you not supposed to use magic in the real world? I saw some lore like it might kill everybody.
I don't know about that. Okay.
It was just like a most like tweet that I saw going around. Cause there's a shot of the white queen, like using magic and everyone's like, Oh, there's a big fuck up. She's not supposed to be doing that here. And that's why she pops off a Narnia with magic. Cause you can't use in the real world. And yeah, which I don't care. Cause it's not my thing. I just, I know you'll have those book experts out there. Like it doesn't happen this way.
Yeah, no, I have, I have absolutely no idea about using magic in this world. It's been a while, but I know, um, uh, I mean, we'll get there with, with the rings and stuff. But I think everything with Daniel Craig is pretty fantastic. I love it because he's a kooky guy, but he is... He does have a little bit of actual magic in his repertoire and his abilities.
And yeah, so obviously you get to see the.
I like this. Obviously, like, this is very colorful. Lots of good stuff going on here. So this is where I was like, okay, I'm being sold, like, you know, magical place, color.
So... The rings. Sauron's ring. Yeah, the rings. So how it works is the moment you put the one ring on for yellow, it teleports you into the world between worlds. And then when you put the ring that's green on, it pulls you out into the universe. So you'd put the, you switch the rings off and on to go in between different worlds. And so, yeah, he's got these rings that are made from, I think the gold ones are made from the wood from the world between worlds for us.
And so that's why it pulls you there.
It's not actually called The World Between.
Worlds, is it? No, that's just what I'm calling it because it's literally exactly... No, that's fine.
I just wanted to confirm.
Yeah. But yeah, it's Sauron's Rings kind of a thing. But this is... It's 100% actual magic that's been put in there. And I mean, that's where the wardrobe... Because I think Narnia... A tree from Narnia, they had wood come back from Narnia, and that's how they made the wardrobe, so that acts as a portal. Right. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, still pretty cool. I like this too. The director of Barbie thing.
Yeah, I like that. That was fun. I'm a magician. Yeah, some good stuff there. Yeah, Craig will be fun. He'll have a good time with this. And we're fine now. And then we're starting to, we're starting to, we're right already.
We're getting there.
All those shots are very Thor, right? Like you just say, and the good thing is, hopefully this movie hits out in February. Hopefully you'll get more time. But in such an effects-driven movie, it's just the thing of the characters don't look like they're there. It looks like they're running on a green screen. And to me, it's the same thing.
It's not as bad, but it's the same thing people shot in the prequel for years. And now it happens all the time in movies. So it's like, well, don't get me wrong. There's been times people hate the Black Panther third act because it's so much bad CGI. And I've been able to look past it. So I get it's always different depending on the circumstances. And that's my hope here again is that even if some of the CGI is a little distracting, that the movie is just so good in the quality of it that I'm going to look past it.
I want to stop it here. Are you okay if I say a spoiler or is that bad?
How big is the spoiler?
Maybe I won't say anything. You can say it.
All right.
Spoiler. 3, 2, 1 if you don't want.
To hear it. So this realm here, this is just cool to kind of actually visually see because in the book, when I was reading this part and just kind of interpreting the layout of just what it looked like with all the bodies frozen and they're getting closer and closer because I'm pretty sure it was the witch queen that was here. And so it's actually cool to actually see what it looks like here because in my head, it was very different from what I visualized. But they get into here and then they wake up the witch queen and then it just kind of goes downhill from there.
And that's just one of those things, too, where it's crazy, the concept, because if they never woken the Witch Queen here, then it would have been completely different. You know, Narnia would have been fine and everything like that, but it just kind of spirals out of control, obviously. But, yeah, just a cool world to see in the light. All right.
Travis can come back now, but it looks like he's frozen. Come back. Come back. Travis, let's see. Is he frozen?
Wait. Come here. I've got something to say. Something to say. All right, get me back to Willy Wonka.
So, yeah, they shouldn't have touched this thing, but they touched it.
Of course. There's the White Queen.
That's the White Queen. That's right.
She's got a different name here. Jarda or something. Oh, this stuff is not.
See that?
Yeah, that is not looking good when they're doing all this stuff. I was like, oh, and even, yeah. I appreciate, I appreciate the dress. I'll say pause there. I appreciate the other dress. I feel like I know what they're, I guess I'm of two minds, right? It feels like it's Zack Greger's Resident Evil with the third act. It's like, I appreciate the swing she's taking. I think that dress has like a very fun, poppy feel to it. It doesn't feel like it's 1920s in a sense, right? It feels like otherworldly and it doesn't fit, but at the same time it doesn't fit. And it's just like, I don't know, that other dress for me is a little distracting.
I'll have to see the whole movie, but... And I guess I can just be a hater. I don't like this look either. I don't like the White Queen look here. I like the other White Queen better. I'll have to see more of it. Obviously this is probably just a flash forward of what she could become, but it just...
And I like Emma McKay as an actor a lot. I just... I don't know. There's something with this trailer. There's certain things where it's just like the things that should be selling me and the things that I... Because Taylor did the old school bully tactic of like, oh, well, Travis... You know, the things in Narnia, those aren't really Travis things.
I like the.
First fucking Narnia a lot. I meant how heavy it leans on religion, right?
That doesn't matter.
That doesn't matter? We're going to talk about.
The Exorcist trailer today and that leans heavily on religion. I'm like, this looks fucking great.
Not... Not in the same way C.S. Lewis is painting his movies, his Narnia movies. I feel like it's very different.
Star Wars? Isn't Anakin Skywalker just Jesus?
Yeah, but I always felt like Narnia just leans right into it.
And I like the first Narnia, so I should be a sucker for.
All of that. You've got to watch the first one. I want to know how it sits with you, if you still like it. When did you watch it last? Well.
Not that long, though.
Yeah, I don't buy that. Those ones do age well, though. To me, those are classics. Those ones. One, and then Prince Caspian, I'd give it a little bit, but Voyage of the Dawn Treader, just not there. But you've got, what's his nuts? Jigsaw. Not Jigsaw. He plays Adam Warlock. What's his name? He was in We're the Millers. He plays Adam Warlock. Yeah, so he's one of the kids that goes to Narnia on the Dawn Treader.
What is that fucking guy's name? It's not Finn. Is it Finn or is it like... Oh, he's going to look it up.
I got to look it up. I got to look it up. He's driving me nuts. God damn. Will Poulter, for fuck's sake.
I wouldn't have pulled that at all. We would have been here all night.
All right. Dawn Treader.
What the fuck did I click? Oh, fuck.
Okay, let's keep her going. Oh, yeah. What the fuck?
Tay clicked on the wrong link.
Like, that's way too much CGI, man.
Yeah, I'm not loving it. But again, I know it's going to be like, well, how else could you do it? I understand. It's just like, if it's going to be a movie with a lot of CGI and it's all going to look a little iffy, Um, we'll see what the movie actually looks like, but yeah, it just, um, I just couldn't lock into some of the stuff.
So no, but then I will say, oh yeah, no, this stuff with Aslan. I liked how Aslan looks here, but this, oh my God.
And like, go back a little bit, go back.
Oh, right.
You're, you can't play music. Nevermind. As I say, and the music when it was popping off here was not working for me. Like this should be like the Narnia theme. This should be something I'm going to remember. Um, Just Led Zeppelin going on. I'm like, this just doesn't work for me. Looked in The Dark Dimension with Dormammu.
Aslan.
This is bad. I've come to bargain.
Yeah. But this looked good. I thought the depth of Aslan looked really good. And it's voiced by Meryl Streep, which is fantastic. So I was curious, so it's a male lion with Meryl Streep doing a solid lady's voice? Or is it going to be female voice actor voicing Bart Simpson style, like Ash Ketchum?
No, they're going to make a lion a female. The god is a female now.
It's woke.
It's a rune. It's over.
But it's got the mane going on, though.
Oh, they can change that, too.
Okay.
Okay, here's the thing. Look at this fucking lion. It just became from the stars. It's shooting out Cretanardia. And your biggest concern is Well, this female lion's going to have a mane. What's going on here? Look what this lion's doing. It can do anything it fucking wants.
Oh, I know. I know. It's just, like, I see my lionesses, and I see the lion and the lion mane here, but Meryl Streep is a fantastic actress, so I'm totally copacetic.
Yeah. I liked this. I wasn't as hyped as other people. The thing I didn't like, though, was, we'll get there, but right here, I did not like that title card. For some reason, it was giving me, like, Avatar vibes, like the fawn, but it just, like, I don't know. I just, that, something about emotion.
To Stairway to Heaven?
No, something about emotion. It just looks, like, too kiddy. Like, too just, again, that could work, but it just looks like someone's going to see it and be like, ah, this is a kid's movie. You know, like, I don't know. It's something.
I don't know.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, we'll see. Definitely Avatar vibes, yeah. It's cause CS, uh, lyrics are tied thematically. It's cause the lyrics are tied thematically. CS Lewis.
Sure.
Great. Don't use it. It fucking sucks.
Does CS Lewis know that? I don't think he does.
Yeah, he says it's great. Like, just cause, just cause something makes sense doesn't mean it's right. I know that sounds dumb, but like, yes, he's very religious. Yeah, that's fine. That's okay.
Look at those E's. That's a lot more E's than what Star Wars had for.
And that, that's fine. You know, um, Yes, 100% S-Bub. Some of the stuff in the trailer was giving me Valerian vibes. Yeah. That's what I mean. Good point. I feel like I just, this trailer gave me all the bad vibes with those type of movies that like the next big adventure and then it's like, oh, it ain't shit and there's no big adventure anymore. I just, I do not think this was a good impression and again, I read the article first saying why she picked Stairway to Heaven but it's just like, that could be a writing choice, but I don't think in a movie, it just, I don't know, I think this trailer has an identity, it's just not a great one for me, so I'll see it, I'll be there, I'm going to take the kids,
we might, I don't know, I don't think I'm going to get them to watch, I don't know if I'm going to get them to watch the other Narnia ones or not yet, I think I'll probably start them with this and see if they like it, and then we'll watch the other ones, I think we'll do that and go from there, because there's a good chance, I'm sorry, I'm going to be that guy, there's a good chance we're going to get another Narnia, so I can just say, oh, this is a prequel to those movies, you know?
You're thinking... I don't think they're doing another one after this because the next one.
What was the plan?
It was supposed to be a trilogy.
Well, what? The boy... What?
That comes after this.
So they wrote a second prequel?
No, no, no. Yeah, so there's two. Okay, let me get you the details here.
Either way, this is supposed to be a trilogy. I don't think we're in a trilogy. That's all I'm saying. Don't think it's happening. I think Netflix is going to spend a bunch of money on the theatrical and this movie. It's going to bite them in the ass, and they're going to stay the fuck away from Narnia for a little bit. I hope not. I hope to be wrong, because I hope to enjoy movies, and I'm down to enjoy another Greta Gerwig movie. Yeah.
Okay, so you read The Magician's Nephew first. Then the next book in the series is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Then the third one is The Horse and His Boy.
Then you do Lion next, the most popular one.
Yes, and then if you said it's a trilogy, then you do The Horse and His Boy. That was the plan, but I don't think we're getting there. After that, it's Pris Caspian. Then it's The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Then The Silver Chair. Then you read The Last Battle.
The Last Battle. What's the pizza bet, Mike? What's the pizza bet? If it's on box office, we have to wait to see if Netflix would report those numbers. If it's just that they'll make a Narnia 2, like, let's take a look here. What's the rumor?
Narnia... I'm not making any fucking pizza bets because I don't know any fucking clue how this is going to go.
Really? So after you see this trailer, you don't go one way? I was going to say, before you saw this trailer, did you think this movie was going to be a big hit?
I thought it was going to be good, but I don't think there's a lot of Narnia lovers out there these days.
Okay, and then after this trailer, you don't think it helps or hurts it?
Fuck. I think it hurts it.
Reported budget is $ 280 million. $ 280 million. $ 280.
Did you see the fucking CGI they got in this fucking trailer? Of course. I'm surprised it's not cracking $ 400.
And that's going to be like Digger where they're like, oh, actually it was a lot more when they looked at the... So it's like this movie, let's just round up. With marketing, get to $ 300. You have to be making about $ 600 million to be in the profit zone for this.
That's Netflix for you.
We get Anarnia 2.
Are you making that bet, Mike? I'm not touching it with a 10-foot pole, but you go ahead.
You said you couldn't decide either way, so that's where it's.
A 50-50 bet. Decide either way what? That they're doing another one?
Anarnia 2.
I'm leaning that they're not going to, but I'm not going to make a bet. I think this is way too much of a loose can. For all I know, this trailer just slaps out of the park and everyone falls in love with it.
Can you tell me what's the view count on the Netflix trailer?
Let's see here.
Negative two. Let's see.
33 million. I'm just kidding. That's subscribers. The view count is 5 million. Here, just for fun, let's go a calculator. Five, one, two, three, one, two, three times. What's an average movie ticket in American dollars? That's not true.
Sure, but that doesn't work.
$ 50 million movies not getting a sequel.
And the theater gets half of that, too. So they make it $ 20 million. They spent 280 and they get 25 million back. Like, what is this? Can you look at... Click on the Exorcist to right there. What's the view count on that? We're not going to do that next, but what's the view count?
5.2 million.
In this case. Okay, to be fair, this 10 hours ago, 5.194 million for Narnia.
So it's just like a difference of 6,000 views.
And to me, exercise... Exorcist, you can close this window now. We'll come back to Exorcist later, so keep that up. But we'll do that in a second. Exorcist, I can't say it's like a dead franchise, but it's definitely a franchise that needs some loving. It's nowhere in the zeitgeist for big franchises. And that's pulling 5 million trailer views.
With a couple more days, sure. But then you got Narnia, which should be blowing up. I feel confident on this. I... Like, I guess there's a version of that where they do line, which, well, there's no way you can do line, which in wardrobe for cheap, right?
That's gotta be, sorry, say it again for cheap.
Like, like it, let's say the second one bombs and then they go like, Oh, we got to make line, which in wardrobe cheaper than two 80. Like, I feel like you, that's, isn't that a bigger book?
It is a lot more going on. Yeah. But like how, cause you got, you're in Narnia for that book, right? So how do you go cheaper? Like, i i get like you're not doing the world between worlds or that stuff but like you're literally this is a cgi fest of a movie so oh look at these comments here can we pop this back up the ragnarokification of narnia this is a movie about two british kids discovering their uncle's secret lsd lab oh all the budget went into getting the rights to stairway to heaven and daniel craig narnia love and thunder What.
The fuck is that Elysium thing going on there? It does have that vibe. It has the MCU vibe. I guess that's a tough thing, right? Because Mike brings up a point, but box office money for Netflix is just a bonus. They want it as content. I agree. It just comes down to do enough people click on that. Can you look at what the budget was for Six Underground, the Michael Bay classic starring Ryan Reynolds? At one point, it was the most streamed Netflix movie of all time.
Directed by, sorry, it was $ 150 million.
Okay. So that was $ 150 million, and they claim that was the most streamed movie of all time on Netflix. No sequel. Now maybe, you know, whatever happens, Narnia's brand, but there is still going to be a point where they go, hey, is this price tag worth it? Are we going to do more? Because that's the thing. Box office-wise, I think it's going to eat it. Do I think people could click on it? Sure, yeah, they could click on it. They can make it work. How do you feel about it as a streaming prospect? I'll see, you know, box office making $ 25 million, but streaming, do you think it's a movie that a lot of people still click on and go, yeah, I want to see Narnia?
I think if this movie came out before Christmas, I think it would do a lot better.
Yeah. It should have came out at Christmas, to be honest.
Yes, it should have. I think that would have been a really, really good Christmas family movie. I think a lot of people actually would have doubled down and bought tickets for it.
So it's premiering February 12th. It doesn't come to Netflix until April 2nd.
What the fuck?
Because they're giving it a long theatrical window. They want to treat it like a real theatrical thing.
Good.
Yeah, I'll... Let's see. Netflix... sequels this went on way longer than I thought it was going to be but of course.
Netflix always that's the thing with Netflix so they also like to cancel their fucking sequel shit.
So let's see confirmed upcoming sequels no I don't want that I wanted just top 10 okay top 10 Netflix best original sequel movies of all time let's see what this list is okay.
So have a knives out in there I'm.
Sure yeah that's the first guy is Daniel Craig he's on the poster knew it yeah let's see so Number 10 is Love Tactics 2. You liked that one, right, Taylor?
The fuck is that?
Yeah. Number 9, Murder Mystery 2. Honestly, very easy cheat movie.
Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston.
Yeah. To all the boys I love, P.S. I still love you. Okay. Cheat movie. The Old Guard 2. I'd say that's a cheaper movie. Bird Box Barcelona. Cheat movie that didn't even bring out Xenobolic.
Is it a sequel of that? What the fuck?
It's a foreign film, you know? You don't think Greta's name has weight?
No.
I think the director of Barbie does, but I think if you go, Taylor, you go to your parents and ask them who's Greta Gerwig, what do they say?
Something Barbenheimer.
Yeah, but do you think they even say that?
No, they don't have a fucking clue.
But then if you at least said, hey, it's the person who made Barbie, they go, okay, I understand that. I don't think it has, I think that's why it says, is her name even in the trailer? Yep. When?
I'll backtrack it. Does it?
Okay. I think it, don't get me wrong, it has some weight. I don't think it has, like, if Tom Cruise isn't pulling people to movies and clicks.
From Greta Gerwig.
Okay, I see it. There it is. Okay.
And that's his director of Barbie.
I think if Cruise isn't bringing people in nowadays, I don't think Greta is. I think there's only one, even Denis. We have to see what happens after Dune. There's only one person bringing people in via name. Who is that, Taylor?
Nolan.
Nolan. Christopher fucking Nolan. Everybody else is dead. Okay, number five.
Zachary Crager.
Yeah, small scale, though. But Lost Bolt 2. That was another fair ears, Taylor, right?
Yeah, I can't stop talking about it.
Anola Holmes 2. Okay. Fear Street Part 2, which they made as a trilogy.
I do want to watch.
Oh. But that didn't count.
Yeah, that's a trilogy, you know, because they did like a fourth one or like a second.
Sucks, don't watch it.
It sucks? Okay.
Yeah, just watch the trilogy again.
Fear Street Part 2. Fucking love that. That is actually a good one.
But that doesn't count because they made it as a trilogy. They made it all at the same time. So I'm going to count that. Number two, Extraction 2. You know, those Chris Hemsworth movies.
Yeah, great.
And then Glass Onion, number one, obviously. All those movies I listed are super cheap and super, like, I'll take the bet, Mike. I'm going to say no.
Okay.
Don't think there's going to be a Narnia 2. I do not think it's going to happen. I think they're going to do this because I also think there's a chance the movie doesn't go well, like, critically or goes, like, very minorly. So, yeah, I'll take that pizza bet, Mike. I'll say that there won't be a Narnia 2. Yeah, I'll follow up to Greta Gerwig's Narnia to be specific.
In 15 years, they make a Lion, Witch, and Roar drove, and it's, you know, oh, Mike's asked for a pizza? No, not happening. But, all right. Let's take an ad break.
Let's end, Mike. You're confirming, Mike? I'll punch you right now.
Let's take an ad break. We'll be right back. We are back. Taylor Field, what did you think of the newest Hex trailer?
Talking about bad trailers. Now, I really like that first trailer. There was something about it that was kind of like luring me in. But this one, I kind of want to take Satine to see it.
This trailer, you thought this was a better trailer?
I thought this was a better trailer. Really?
I thought it was a much worse trailer.
Oh, shit.
I'm still taking the girls to see it because I think the movie is better than the trailer. I thought this was very like straight to DVD, like in a world with the witches. I didn't get that at all. What do you mean? The guy was narrating the whole thing.
Saying in a world full of witches? Does he actually say that line?
I'll pull it up because you don't get audio. Hang on now. But it's some shit like that where it's like, and I just thought the narration, it's like they thought the audience was fucking dumb and they're like, they're not going to get it if we don't tell them what's going on and stuff. But yeah, Mike, confirm the chat if that's up. I'll take that bet. Okay, so bring that in. And let's see here. Full screen. Love you, little beans. that an ordinary.
Yeah.
But it's the only way mommy can keep you safe. It was foretold that an ordinary girl... It was foretold.
That's different.
No, but it's just the whole narration. What is wrong with me? It's throughout the whole trailer. become an extraordinary witch. Holy moly. Save the world of magic from evil. Really? This feels like the movie that you loved as a kid that was straight to the DVD and then when you got older, you're like, oh, it actually kind of sucked.
But they'd have this voiceover trailer. This... It did not work for me at all, this guy. Billy Doe, welcome to Hex. Yeah. I'm still excited for it. We need to sit on a time frame.
That's a good idea. What's the time frame?
Hmm. This is for the Narnia bet. Because I still think, like, yeah, I guess, right? Because then we could, we'd always been waiting. Like, when's the deciding point? Let's see.
When.
Taylor, can you... Actually, keep giving your thoughts on Hex and I'll find out my information, actually. I know I've worded it, but... Yeah, no.
So I think this movie, it's got some kind of energy to it that's kind of pulling me in. Maybe it's just the fact that we're in October and it's Halloween time right now. It's also kind of making me want more magical things right now because the release date is... November.
Because they always... Well, because they always release Pixar stuff during American Thanksgiving to try and get the long weekend money with the families together. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, but that's.
What they go for. And you got that Walton Goggins voice, too. That was always, that was fantastic.
I love that. That's going to bring in more people than Greta for Narnia.
Yeah.
Starring Walton Goggins.
This is right before my birthday, so maybe as a birthday gift to myself, I'd be like, all right, team, let's go. I'm taking you to the movies, and we'll go indulge in this. Because, yeah, I think I had to really do a number with her. to kind of, like, get her to come around for Halloween because last year she was definitely uncomfortable with it, and so this year at the start she was uncomfortable again. She's getting very kind of anxious, like, off with it.
At Halloween?
For the Halloween that everything's going on.
Well, good thing there's some Halloween stuff at the daycare.
Well, there is, didn't you? We got, there's a whole, no, oh, shit. They sent a notice out.
Yeah, it was taken away.
Oh, damn. Okay, Madison, I love that. But I've been kind of coaxing her in, playing the Halloween movies, did that Toy Story one you recommended. Yeah, Friday the 13th, Conjuring. Michael, stop it.
You fucking animal.
We watched It the other night, but I had her watch that. We're going to do Welcome to Derry. No, you didn't have her watch It. I didn't make her watch It. I'm not that bad of a parent. Jesus Christ. We watched it on our own.
But... This is an interesting question. Taylor saw the news of Pat McAfee being in the movie and was sold. Don't type anything. Who's Pat McAfee?
Pat McAfee? Is that the antivirus guy in the cafe? Antivirus?
What? No, not at all. He's a sports commentator. He used to be a kicker, a punter.
How the fuck would I know that?
That's my point to Greta Gerwig. See, here's where I go back, though, Mike. So she, it was announced somewhere in 2020 because she said she wrote the, let's see, in 2020, okay, she wrote in 2020 and then approached Netflix in 2021. So let's say 2021, it came out, let's say it was supposed to be 26, but it got delayed to 27. So it took five, seven years. I, and Taylor, I think you would agree with this. I would only take this bet on the movie coming out, not an announcement. Because they can announce that Narnia 2 is coming out. I'd get Mike a pizza and then they'd never make that fucking movie. So that's where I would push back, Mike. I would go, that movie has to release. Not an announcement. That's easy to make an announcement.
I ain't sitting on the announcement.
The release is fair. I think that's fair.
Yeah.
So if we can't... I would say a release from six years from the first Narnia. Because this movie took six years for production. She talked to Netflix in 2021. It's coming out in 27.
I say.
That gives us to 2034. If it's not out till then, then I fucking long pizza bet. Cause I get the timeframe, but I just feel like they could easily announce it. And then if it never comes out, I feel like, well, I'm dumb, you know?
Yeah.
Next alone. But yeah, so I like this trailer or sorry, I don't like this trailer, but I like the concept of the movie. I'm excited to take the girls shortest Disney animated movie of all time or something like that. So, They're trying to get that in there. So I hope it's good. I like when they dip into the toes and the spooky stuff. I love Coco. I'm really looking forward to that, uh, that ghost in the market or whatever one that looks great. So there you go. We're locked in. So Narnia two has to come out before 2034 Travis for, or Travis against Mike for pizza bet.
There we go. So that's a lot like me and Dylan are 10 year decade pizza bet. So, Taylor, tell everyone what you thought on... Let's see here. What do we got next? Blade Runner 2099 while I get my charging cord.
Yeah, Blade Runner, eh? Goodness me. I need to go back and re-watch that original Blade Runner and the follow-up with Ryan Gosling because I'm not sure... Not sure how I feel about this. I don't have that big kind of connection to this universe and this world, so I'm not there. Obviously, I'm not doing that review.
I'm not watching it. No, this is a Travis solo.
This is a solo Travis.
Everyone bowed out on it. Even Kirkland, big Hunter Schaefer guy. Not that big, you know?
Yeah, so.
Big Hunter Schaefer.
Oh, it visually looks great. I mean, you can't argue with that. The world that they've created is very, it's interesting, but I think the, The burn is too slow for me.
Is it looking better than Narnia? Effects-wise?
Effects-wise? Oh, my God. Night and day difference. Jesus. But if it's going to do better, like make more money?
No, it's a TV show.
It's streaming, so I don't know.
It's just a TV show.
It's a TV show, yeah. Yeah.
No, I'm looking very forward to this. I'm loving everything about this. Love Michelle Yeoh. Love Hunter Schaefer. I love this idea of the replicants taking over the world, and it's flipped this time. And I do think those movies have a slower pace to them. They're detective tales. I think that works in a series. You can kind of prolong that. I think effects are looking great. So I'm very excited for this. I don't need to see any more trailers.
I'm sold.
It looks like we're going to lots of locations. I am kind of interested on Hunter Schaefer's character, what their end goal is. Because at the end when Michelle yells, she's like, what am I doing here? I don't think you even know what you're doing here. So it's going to be this thing of, multiple, you know, political sides and twists and turns. So I can't wait for, I'm very excited for that. And yeah, I'll be binging as soon as I can. And then we will, uh, I will drop a solo review. So look out for that. Uh, and then also look at me and Taylor. We've talked about this before, but we'll be binging, uh, Crystal Lake this week and then we'll get back at some point.
We'll drop review whenever we're done, but look out for that. Taylor, how are you feeling about the body? The body, uh, Uh-oh, did you not watch it? It has the girls, the dancer, the satanic cult stuff.
Oh, I did miss that fucking one. Oh, my God. I thought I caught them all.
Fuck.
Tell me your thoughts. What did you think about it?
So I don't know if it's a full-on supernatural. It's one of these trailers that looks like it could be supernatural, could not be supernatural. It's a girls' dance team, and they just look like there's some fucked-up shit going on here. The only reason, I think it's based on a book. And I've heard good things about this. I've heard it's like it's a really messed up tale. So it's going to be a Netflix series, satanic panic, all that type of stuff. It looks like there's some humor to it.
So I'm definitely going to check this out unless it gets like naked, like terrible reviews. And no, then I'll bounce off. But it looks intriguing. It looks like there's lots of, I don't know, drugs sex and rock and roll going on and rituals and everything so I don't know it the word of mouth has me intrigued in the trailer okay I'm I might be into this so we'll you know we'll see so okay let's take our next ad break and then we'll be right back okay we are back Taylor Field You had it up earlier.
You can bring it up here in a second. But The Exorcist, Martyrs, how are you feeling about this?
Yeah, I mean, if you're a detective and you walk to your crime scene, a buddy's hanging upside down, you're pulling a chain out of his mouth. I mean, year to year, that's not great. That's not ideal. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it's interesting. So this is connected to... Is it connected to the other Exorcist movies? Or is this just another standalone in the overall Exorcist-verse?
What'd you say?
Is this connected to the original Exorcist movie in any way? Or is this just an anthology? How do all these movies work?
That's interesting. How do all these movies work? Sorry, I've seen it. notifications for mess bubs in there i think it's the the clay face reactions have come out so we'll have to take a look at that um that's an interesting i think it's the classic horror stuff where there is uh the original there's sequels there's remakes and then there's offshoots sort of things i i they've not confirmed anything i think this will be connected to exorcist somewhat i think it's going to be specifically connected to exorcist the third exorcist because that has to do with a detective sort of serial killer sort of deal. So it's within that world, but it's its own story. So I'd say that what it mostly is, it's playing on
the themes of what Exorcist deals with. So I don't think they're going to be covering rag and all that stuff, but the themes of possession and Satanism and all that type of stuff and everything fucked up with it, I think they're going to be covering that stuff. So I think it's going to be using some of the lore, but being its own thing at the same time. Okay.
Interesting. Interesting. I mean, I'm definitely... Part of me is intrigued. There's been a few Crypt of Clues episodes on exorcisms and whatnot, and there's a lot of contention and conflict on the concept of it. Yeah, yeah. It's a weird rabbit hole. Very weird. Very, very weird.
So it doesn't sound like this trailer really did it for you.
I mean... when I think exorcism, I think you got that crab walk. And if I see someone doing the crab walk, like the first one down the stairs, Holy fuck. I'm fucking, I'm sent. I'm, I'm freaking out.
There's a point in the trailer where that person's coming at some barrel or something.
Yeah. And it just felt like, yeah. I mean, I can crawl out of a barrel, you know, like it's, it didn't really.
You could crab walk too.
If you learned, I could crab walk and I, I've, I've done it once or twice. Um, So hopefully we get something like that. But, you know, the 360 head spin, like, that always freaks me out too. Like, you get those, like, the movements, like, not where the hands are doing, like, bending backwards and stuff or, like, a heel bends backward, but I want the head spin and I want, like, the upside-down crab walk. That shits. That's what freaks me out.
Yeah, for me, this trailer, all this people know, I'm a Flanagan guy, so I love to very much like everything the guy does. um, so I'm, and he said he's trying to make this the scariest thing, I'd have to look and see what's really coming out next year, we'll wait till we do our, uh, our year preview for me to cement and lock it in, it is easily in my top five for most anticipated now, probably my top three, this trailer fucking rocked me, I'm surprised, I thought with you, like, in long legs, you would be all over this, because I feel like it has that sort of vibe, but just using the exorcism stuff, and talking about, like, all these serial killers, you know, like, This guy, this guy, this guy. They all at one
point said that they were possessed. And it's like, okay, is that just someone pantomiming that and using it as an excuse? Is that something that you could draw a line to? So I thought, you know, the Discord was juicing. So you don't even know if you're seeing this in theaters, do you?
Remember we were doing the retro for Exorcist?
That depends if you'll hit that $ 1, 500 for extra life. You'll unlock the Exorcist and Transformers retro.
If we hit $ 1, 500, I'll see this in theaters.
Oh, yeah. Then you're going to have to. Plus, I thought we should... There's a couple... Because I want to, for Tress told you in March of that year, do Flanagan ranking. I've not seen Oculus yet. So I was thinking we should maybe retro that because that's one of his movies I've not seen.
I don't even think I've seen that.
Yeah, you have. I did? You talk about it all the time, you guys. It's the mere one.
I talk about this movie?
I swear you and Kirkland are always like, it's so fucking scary. What?
Yeah.
I swear you guys have talked about this.
This does not look familiar.
I thought you guys had talked about this. Maybe you thought it was a different movie now he's talking about, but. no, I think Exorcist is looking incredible, I love, the cast is great, ScarJo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Leguizamo, Lawrence Fishburne, like, I'm excited again for the Chiwetel Ejiofor renaissance, like, I'm excited to have him back in these bigger projects, and, yeah, I can't, I can't wait, this is really high up there, this is all the vibes, it's looking fucked up, it's looking dark, it's looking serious, it's looking nasty, it's looking just cutthroat, like, it's, everything. And it looks beautiful. I love the aesthetic. I love the color grading. Like everything about this trailer was just, I was excited for it,
but the vibes, everything was just a 10 out of 10. So I can't wait. So there you go. Um, what else did we have here for trailers? We had, uh, why did I lose all my trailers? Uh, there we go. Uh, Ali G. And he wants your nickname.
Ali G. Yeah. Uh, the Borat thing kind of caught me off guard. I thought that was actually a really nice touch. Um, and, uh, he gave me like, cause he's doing three different personas in this trailer and you have like, um, the Quaritch version of him, which is like, this is, this is super crazy.
He does that in a different show too. I can't remember what the show was called, but a couple of years ago he did and, a new show where he was different characters and that, and the other guy that's like, he's more heavier set and he has like the big outfit on, uh, that's from that show as well too. So those are some fun ones.
So I thought it was interesting to him, him, um, making fun of like the liberal side too. I feel like he goes for that.
He just goes for anybody, which I'm glad.
I think, yeah, attack everything and everyone, you know, just have, have fun with it. Uh, So I am just sitting in the room and just saying like, they took your word. And so, and he's like, Oh, it's pronounced this. And that's, Oh my God. I don't know how you, I'm sure it happens off screen. I'm just getting assaulted and attacked.
Just the shit that he does is crazy.
So I think it's been close a couple of times to, uh, scary stuff happening.
So, yeah. Well, even then when he's listening to the oldies, he's had honchos when he's looking like Quaritch and he's talking about like, Oh, they'll wash your cars. They'll paint your houses. They'll do your dishes. They'll fix this. They'll do that. Um, fuck. I can't remember how he ends it, but he says, he's like, but you know, they'll, they'll kill you. And the one guy after like five minutes of monologue, he's like, hell yeah.
This guy is.
So fucking checked out. Come on.
Yeah. No, I'm still excited. I, I think unless it gets tier reviews, I might try to see this in theaters. I like Sacha Baron Cohen's stuff. I know some of the gimmicks got over. I understand. I think that's why he's using some of the newer characters. I do think, I don't know if it's always the plan, but I do think him using Borat was a way to up some ticket sales, make people know this is happening. But I'm still interested in it. I think there's some good stuff in here, and you don't want to show too much of these movies. I thought that was good. I can say this, then you go next with Godzilla Minus One.
These are some weird trailers, man. I like them, but it's just like there's been like two trailers already that have done this where they show like lots of footage of the old movie and then there's little footage of the new movie. So again, I'm very excited. We're less than a month away. I think I told you we got fucking actual good screen times this time. So I'm so excited. That's one we're off to. Actually, do they have the West Side? extreme yet let me check on here because we only had the ones for colonna let's see whale fall street fighter no nothing for godzilla yeah on the west side but either way in colonna they have good screenings and i can't wait this trailer i guess does nothing other than like shows the stakes are
big they show i like the idea of hey this girl shouldn't have lived which we all kind of knew this girl shouldn't live so it's okay what is has infected her body or what is happening like What is the deal with the kind of gamma potential radiation goddess? Is she the key to something? I don't know, but it does look like, unfortunately, like, not in a bad way, but it wasn't their fault Godzilla was around fucking them up.
It looks like they're just going to keep dealing with the circumstances of the fallout of what Godzilla did, right? So I'm looking very forward to this, even though I think these trailers have been.
Odd.
I don't think they've been, like, They're not like almost traditional trailers, you know, which I get it. They're not North American, but they're, you know, just don't get me hyped in the same way as usual. So oh, what are you bringing up?
I'm going to make a point here in this trailer. Yeah, Godzilla visually looks so much better. You got some parallel. Oh, fuck me. Like this alone was just one crazy scene. This woman losing her shit. And is she holding a baby too? A little kid?
I think so, yeah.
And then look what they do. Look what they show you right after. That house is gone.
This shot, yeah, this stuff was crazy, and he's flying through, and it's just all, like, the blue beams going off. Like, that's nuts. That's a fucking video game level right there.
Yeah. So there's so many just cool visuals. But, yeah, okay. Yeah, right here, the lightning. So it's Kinky Dora. It's yellow. He's coming back, you know. So I'm excited that we're going to be getting– it's one thing to have this movie– and this style based on just focusing on Godzilla. But now just this, this, the way that they've done this movie with that original and them bleeding into bringing in other Godzilla monsters now. Oh, I can't wait. Oh, I can't fricking wait. It's going to be so, so awesome.
And you get to see to Godzilla go from being that. I mean, they'll probably still look at him as a villain, but you get to see him now go from being a villain to a hero.
So I don't know about a hero.
There you go. Kiki Dora just popping off on their little limb.
You know, the friend of my, the enemy of my enemies, my friends are a deal, you know?
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
Uh, let's see what else we got here. Um, let's end on a high note. Let's go with, uh, we got other, so we're going to go this. What about Baywatch? You got any thoughts on Baywatch?
I never watched any Baywatch back in the day. I got like, absolutely zero fucking input i feel like on.
Did this trailer sell you though i.
Mean so did uh what's his name oliver quinn did he was he originally a baywatcher like back in the og even amel you mean yeah no because this this was just making it seem like okay like it's the passing of the torch you know we got the old old guard i think.
It's in that continuity so i'm wondering if this character was like because i didn't watch it either I'm wondering if this character was a kid and now he's an adult and they go, oh, he can be played by Stephen Amell.
Okay. Well, I mean, great. I mean, I haven't even seen the one with the rock. Like, I don't know anything about this. I never watched the one. I know David Lynn.
Fuck.
I was going to say Lynn Hagen, but that's from Crazy Stupid Love.
What's his name?
David Hasselhoff? Yeah. He's the one. Yeah.
It hurt my friend's feelings and um yeah i just put this in here for fucking fun this is before we got a lot more trailers but uh this to me just looked like the bad version of top gun maverick like as a legacy sequel look like everything you don't want and i just i i guess i wouldn't pizza bet people because you never know because you have people that watch like those ncis and lawn ores they going forever but i just look at this i'm like Who in 2026 is asking for Baywatch?
I don't know.
I don't think it's going to be watched, so we'll see. Crossed. You tried to get us to watch that earlier. What did you think of Crossed?
Right. Fuck, what did I do with that trailer? Do I still have it?
Don't tell you to be swinging a Madison.
Fuck you.
Fuck you, little bear.
No, I fucking don't have that. I deleted the trailer.
That's fine. What do you think about it? From the writer that wrote the boys' comic books, that's why it's looking big fuck up.
Well, yeah, it starts off one way, and then all of a sudden you've got some Mad Max-looking motherfuckers there, and it's very different. So, I mean, yeah, I'm not going to see this in theaters, but I'm interested, I guess, so.
yeah yeah i i've never read the comic book obviously i am interested this is definitely going to be reviews or word of mouth because interesting trailer but could it not just be like um whatever that fucking movie was was it's called psycho or what was it called i was looking for very forward to this year i mean kirkland were well psycho killer i think and then when that came out just fucking just plummeted so I don't know.
It looked like there could be some interesting concepts there, but then it also looked like this could be a solid 10% of Ronda Mayles and people telling me it's shit. So it's looking gross. Those crosses on the face were looking gross. The world was looking gross. So I am curious about it. I think this is a VOD one, unless I hear it's something you have to watch. But I think I'm going to let other people jump in that pool first. But it looks fucked up enough that I think I'll be checking it out at some point regardless, unless it's very, very poorly reviewed. But I think even if it's like a 50 or 40, I'm curious what's going on. It's looking fucked up. Lots of nudity going on.
This idea of like, it looks like it's an infection that makes people want to kill other people. That makes them violent. So it feels like they're kind of riffing on 28 Days Later. You know, so I digress. All right. Last two here. Day Drinker.
Yeah. there was a line in this trailer where Johnny Depp is, what does he say?
He has multiple lines in this trailer that are like that. Specifically, it just felt like, uh, some people misbehave sometimes.
There's that one. And then there's the other one, like, I'm not done until I say I'm done.
Yeah, there's that one.
This is the Ebeneezer, like, it's good to be back line.
Yeah, and then, it is, and then he had another one where it's like, oh, like, you know, being back, like, something like that, or like, everyone's, goes, everyone's, behaves badly every once in a while. No, I did that already. There was just another line where like.
Is this written in the script or is he just saying these improv? Like, John, you gotta cut it out, John.
Stop. I gotta bring up these traits. I'm not gonna watch the full thing, but there's three lines where it's like, okay, between Ebenezer and this, it does really feel like, oh, I'm gonna play on roles and I'm gonna comment on stuff about my life. And Ebenezer, to me, it's like you do one of those. Ebenezer... Christmas Carol that's like the oh guy made a mistake scene is and even then he looks like a piece of shit in it but the point of Christmas Carol is like oh he's gonna come around be a better guy now we're in the second movie where it's like oh I'm kind of a bad guy so it's like.
Wait till we get the pirates he's just gonna be holding.
It yeah and like I prefer this over Ebenezer because he's doing a character but it doesn't look as like he's.
A vampire right is that what they're insinuating Is that what they're saying he is? Well, he definitely has some kind of superpower ability. True.
Hang on.
Don't you sometimes want to misbehave?
I don't know if we need to lean into it so much now.
Oh, he is.
Hang on. There's another one. Oh yeah, this is the other one. I don't belong here.
I don't belong anywhere.
So it's just like we're really hitting it on the nose. I liked the trailer. I'm interested in some things. Yeah, Taylor brought this up. I'm done when I say I'm done. And yeah, that's exactly it. Is it just going to be Always, I'm back. I'm controversial. I don't know. So that aside, did this look interesting to you?
A little bit. Because, I mean, he's doing a lot of, I don't want to say paranormal, but a lot of monster-ific things. It feels like there's a monster in the background. I thought you could hear, pardon me, I thought you could hear some roars and stuff like that growling in the trailer, too. So I feel like, when they call it Daydreamer, it looked like something that... Oh, fuck, you got me.
That's in Transformer.
Goddamn.
Big day drinker plot.
I think that it's got to be vampires or werewolf.
Plot is a bartender working on a private yacht meets a mysterious.
Enigmatic enigmatic enigmatic enigma enigma I can say enigma enigma enigmatic onboard.
Guest named Kelly played by Johnny Depp.
Vampire.
Yeah, there's nothing confirmed about what he is.
It's going to be like that movie, fuck, what does it call it, with Timothee Chalamet and Ping Pong. It wasn't a vampire movie, though. Well, the guy just breaks in like, I'm a vampire, you know.
But they didn't go that way.
No, they didn't lean into it, I guess.
Okay. And finally, Taylor, River. Did you watch this one?
I did. This one, it lost me after when we got all the quick cuts and everything that they were kind of exploring. But I will say her sitting in the river and then the guy just there. And then she turns around and he dives into the water. I thought, fuck, that's some freaky shit. That's a good goddamn shot. I feel like I can still hear it.
To be able to know, River is starring as Jessica Roth, who is from the Happy Death Day series. And then you got Jane Levy, who was in Evil Dead 2013 so very fun horror like Scream Queens coming together she's going for a swim they're probably mom dad dumping her ashes she's going for a swim in like a moshy type area like Friday 13th camp area she's going for a swim and then all of a sudden there's just this fucking dude standing there you don't really know what's like 100% on him but he definitely has some dirt aka blood going on and I agree with Taylor where I think they should have, this should be the first teaser and then maybe in a second trailer you do, you show more of that stuff. But I thought that alone,
this alone right there was the, this was the selling point. And there's a shot coming up too where she's, yeah, she's going to be swimming. Yeah, because she's swimming and then it's like he's swimming. Yeah, this shot right here.
Oh, God. Perfect form though from him. Jesus.
Yeah, he's got to do it. But then like you said, there's a bunch of this. And I almost think, too, like, I don't know why, and don't get me wrong, when Adrenochrome comes out, all the laurels we won from film festivals, you're going to see them everywhere. But I thought, like, when I was watching this trailer, I was locked in and seeing the critic reviews almost, like, took me out of it. It's like, oh, it's just a movie. But, like, that first scene of him jumping in the water put me in that experience. So I agree with you where I think that was phenomenal. I like those two, and this sold me enough, and I've also heard good things about this in film festivals. This sold me where I'm going to be watching this. It'll be in theaters. I
probably will see it in theaters. It's going to be in January, so there won't be much. But I agree with you that the trailer, I think, was better that way. But I'm looking very forward to see what this could be. Are you going to be seeing this? Are you going to word of mouth it?
I think that there's room to see this in theaters. I mean, if you're going to go, maybe I'll tag along, see if Madison wants to come too.
It won't be on the west side, though. That's where you guys are going all the time.
Yeah, but I'd make the special trek for you for this.
Oh, there you go. So, all right. We've got the classic Matty Sags question. To end us off, he asks, I just want to get this specifically, he asks, trailers ranking by which project you want to watch from least to most? So, again, it's always an interesting thing, Matty. It's not even the trailers. It's just the projects. So, Taylor, I sent them to you, so you got them all there, except for the body. You didn't watch the body.
Except for the body. I'm going to put Godzilla number one. Ali G, number two. Oh, fuck off. Just in excitement? That I want to watch?
That's crazy. I'm excited for Ali G, but number two.
Hexed, I'd probably put number three.
Wow.
Narnia, number four. Um... and then exorcist number five um probably river and then baywatch and then i guess no well yeah blade runner and i hate to put blade runner down there which i just don't have any attachment to.
The cross as well Don't forget about Crossed.
Oh, Crossed. Yeah. Fucking Crossed. I'm going to put that after Blade Runner because it's just, yeah, it's not my kind of cup of tea.
Okay. So, Exorcist is easily number one with a bullet. Mostly I'm excited for maybe next year. I can't wait. Got that. Then I would say Blade Runner. No. Yeah, I'll say Blade Runner. Then I'll go River. River could also be a dud, but that's why I'll go Blade Runner atop it. So, I'll go Exorcist, Blade Runner, River.
We'll go with, and this is by project, so not a trailer. I'll go with Hexed, and then Dali-G, and then Crossed. And I'm going to lie and say Godzilla Minus One is actually over Blade Runner 24-9. So that's a number two spot. I forgot about that. That's number two. Because the trailer has been just like snippets of it.
I think the movie is going to be fantastic. And then I think I'm going to go Narnia, then Baywatch. I think I'm going to put Narnia at the second last. Yeah, that trailer just didn't do anything for me, and I thought it was... This whole time, I've been looking very forward to the trailer of Narnia by Greta Gerwig, and that didn't give me much, so... There you go. We've done it, ladies and gentlemen.
That is it. We're going to do.
Mike, I know you asked me to try this, told you about Carrie. I'm going to probably... Trying to do that, I told you this week, so I'll talk about that. I want to finish it because I'm in episode four, so I want to finish it, but we'll see. We're not going to do what we watched because, you know, it'll be a little later. Taylor, you know, putting us through the ringer tonight, but we'll be back. Taylor, we'll be back tomorrow with Dylan for some side quests on Galactic Racing, and then if all goes to plan, Dylan Kirkland will be back on Thursday for Weekly Geek, and I promise when you hear from us next, I'll not be boring.
Bye-bye.
