So, back to the Knicks, if you don't mind. Do you feel like Cat is the odd man out in this situation? Cat has the leverage, and if I opt into my player option, which I don't want to do, I'm going to put you in the second apron anyway, James Dolan. So let's get an extension done, or you're going to have to come up off me by the trade deadline. Where would he go? Not somewhere desirable. Who's going to pay $ 2, 000? I'm just going to be real.
Not the Big Apple. They could flip him for AD.
Now, Man. Intriguing. Well, shit, AD want an extension. He sure does.
Yeah, probably not AD.
So they're not even close, huh?
The reports are the Knicks are trying to give him four years, 200 mil. Cass said, I want a little bit more than that. I can't shave 76 mil off of it. Look at everything I've done for the city. Imagine winning a ring. And right now, you're thinking about that money guy.
So if you don't get the 276 here, I want to get it from somebody.
I'm going to get rewarded for what I am.
I'm a number one option who sacrificed that title to win the championship.
It didn't hurt Kevin Durant and Curry when they did it. It didn't hurt Dwyane Wade and LeBron when they did it. They was maxing out. It didn't hurt Luka and LeBron.
Do you put Cat on that same tier as all those people you just mentioned?
I'm a champion.
Jalen Dern is an all-NBA big man.
A championship superstar because he gets to have this.
I'm a superstar and I was.
And I'm a champion.
And according to his father, he bypassed Jimmy Bowe.
And the problem is, the problem is, they're going to say, hey, you didn't.
Win the championship when you was the superstar.
There's always down pits falls in this fucking basketball history shit.
We got to be realistic with ourselves, too.
What was that?
Like Pippen going to ask for Jordan money.
Pippen didn't get Tony Kukoc money.
No, sir.
Jordan didn't have Tony Kool coach money until he came up.
He said, I want $ 32 million a year. I want all of it. Whatever the cap is, give it to me.
Huh?
30%?
Yeah.
27.4 pay cut.
But you love New York. On a chip you already won.
Hey, this is what I've been telling y'all. Wait a minute, you're talking about the taxes. This is what I've been telling y'all. I'm tired of this bullshit where I'm having to see players take these pay cuts to help these billionaire owners. But, oh, that's just what it is with the caps and the aprons and all that shit. This is what it was designed for. It's not, as a fan of you guys getting your bread.
You should get your money. You know why the salary cap exists? There's this team called the Boston Celtics.
Mm-hmm.
Now, no one's ever going to question the championships and the legacies of these guys, but you can't hold them to the standard because they inherited winning. This is no knock on Bill Russell, but the year he got drafted on the team, there's three all-stars, right?
There's, Two all-NBA first-team players.
On Bill Russell's team?
Before he got drafted. So the night before he got drafted, there's three All-Stars already. Two first-team all-NBA. And then MVP vote, one was in third and one was in fifth.
Okay?
That's what I'm saying. Bill Russell was an original Boston.
Listen, and then they drafted the number one pick.
All right.
Now this year, Bill Russell's first year. This is what that team produced.
They produced three all-stars, one MVP, two first-team all-NBA players, and.
A rookie of the year. And guess what? Bill Russell wasn't none of them.
He wasn't even the rookie of the year.
Who was the rookie of the year?
The number one pick.
Oh, you know he was white, though.
What I'm saying is he was the number one pick one rookie of the year. Bill Russell was the number two pick on another team, and they already had made a deal. So Boston Celtics already had the big three. Then they drafted the number one pick and the number two pick on the same team. Who the fuck is beating that if you only get better in the draft and trades?
Damn.
That's why they won so many championships. And then everybody else, just trade me your player.
Here's some cash at the table.
So all they kept doing is just adding to this dynasty.
It's a different time. 16.
Now imagine there's only fucking 10 teams at the time, so.
You're not beating them.
So Bill Russell's legacy is built off of that. Then you got a guy like Pat that's in New York. They win one championship and we ready to get up off you.
That's the difference. You know what's so funny? That's the difference. Bill wants to run three.
The organizations matter. The ownership matters. The GMs matter. All that shit matters.
It does. Have you ever seen three MVs? I've never seen three.
So a guy like Trace McGrady who's in Orlando who can't get past the first round, we now label him.
The narrative is he's a loser. Because he didn't play for Boston Celtics.
He didn't play for Chicago Bulls.
He didn't play for the L.A. Lakers. That's the difference. And that's the part.
That gets left out when we talk about who's the winner and who's not.
He just talked his shit while he was up and lost.
That's all he did.
Everybody can't go to them three organizations, bro. It's only so many roster spots. Everybody can't go there. we just talked about the wall half of these.
Niggas is Lakers.
The top 50 come on you can't ignore.
That shit he's not a loser but he's still.
Not talked about amongst the greats with championships with championships when he made his statement about oh if I did if I was in place they dogged him for it but it's a reality what he's saying you can't no It's not.
If A.I. was with Tim, we all know if A.I. was with Tim Duncan, they'd win the championship. Of course, we know that.
You don't get those opportunities. Every organization ain't trying to win. We're talking about it now. They win one championship, it's over. But if they pay this money and then pay extra to go get more pieces, now we're talking, and let's say they hypothetically win two more down the line. How we talk about Cat, how we talk about Jalen Brunson and their legacy completely changes from how.
We talk about them today. That's the difference. Man. Cat get two more rings. It's now where we ring Cat amongst the big.
I got three. But we're not saying that right now. They're not even attempting to increase his legacy.
All right, we won one. We done. Let's move on. Let's go figure something else out. We'll get somebody else.
But when Cat's career is over, we're going to look at Cat as the individual, not the motherfuckers he played for.
And he won. He got to be up there.
He got to. He is. Will he be?
Will they have him in front of Carmelo and Charles Barkley?
No.
Time will tell.
Are they going to have him in front of Patrick Ewing? No. Time will tell. What I can say is this is a championship level show. And time tells. And I'm telling you, I've been looking through time.
Bill Russell got three MVPs and was on second team All-NBA.
You hear that shit? That shit. This is the shit.
Three MVPs and he was second on the All-NBA.
He wasn't on first team. Never in history. Three times.
Wasn't allowed to sit in the front of the bus either. It was a different time. It was a different time. Another black man was on first team.
Who?
Who? Well, man, what are you talking about? Motherfucker who happens to be 50, 30-something. Exotic. That was a race. I don't know if it was 56, 57.
One of them years, where we'd never hit this. It'd never be like this again in history. You got to stop talking about them old niggas.
Hey, listen.
Hey, second place, third place, fourth place, fifth place in the MVP race.
If you look at these... That shit is.
If it wasn't for Bill, it wouldn't be no Gil.
Fourth place averaged 38.
If it wasn't for Bill, it wouldn't be no Gil. Without Bill, there could be no Gil. Yeah, if it wasn't for Bill, it wouldn't be no Gil. So you can't disrespect them like that.
I'm not disrespecting.
I'm just saying, history, to know what they're doing now, you got to go back to see.
Why they're doing it.
Why are you using these words and languages when it doesn't work here? Like, if you did a top 75... Why are you not erasing everybody and redo it?
Like, there's always a list. Everything we do, there's a list. Like, right, the number one player. So if that's Jordan up there, like, and then this is 50, this last person, next one, he's gone.
Right? Just like a fucking race.
Right?
Top 10 has always moved because people got faster.
People got better. So these lists, we do it with our stats.
We do it with everything, like scoring titles.
Right?
Right?
The most points. It ain't Wilt no more. I mean, it ain't Kareem.
It's LeBron. Everybody's shifting.
Why they not doing that amongst the ranking?
Why is it grandfathered in the first 50? Right. Those were the times. Like, when they do the next 100... It starts from the beginning. There's no guarantee. There's no read to do.
We're going to do the top 75 of your grandfather.
What if somebody made it in it? Let's just say Dame.
What if he never played again, never did nothing, and he only had the six Western Ames?
Everybody else is looking at it like, wait, hold on.
I got that.
You put these guys in on a curve, but I got that right now.
I'm not in the top 75. That's what a lot of people in history will do.
But they did that on the curve thinking, okay, he's going to get 9, 10, so it will.
Make sense 25 years from now.
So they should just erase everybody, redo it.
They only do that with the top 20 or top 10?
They just add 25 more. They just add 25 more. 75, top 75, top 75. But they do.
Put LeBron and the Kobe's.
In, right?
Yeah, they put them in. Their resumes already went in. So like Dwight Howard, Klay, right now they.
Have to fight with.
Oh, so they've everybody 75 to a honey ego.
So he has the basic 75 to 100 instead of just the white ain't in the top 75, but George.
Mike The Mike and drill only shot less than 40% but shot less.
Than 39% from the few less than 40 person out there. So he imagine you shot 39 George Mike George Mike and so he was doing his drill because he was sorry.
He was he was the Mike and drills because he couldn't make layups. They're thinking like, yeah, Micah was in here doing this. But no, he couldn't make a layup, so he had to work layups.
He shot 39% from the field being the biggest man out there.
You gotta let them be in it, though, because they laid the foundation, though.
That's why. You know everybody would pass.
Everybody back in the day.
Hey, hey, the people at home, people laid my foundation.
They can't live here, motherfucker. That's not the same. You gots to go.
That's not the same, though. That's not the same. That's not the same.
Let's keep this thing moving. We got a lot more to get into.
Definitely not the same.
Nah, bro. First and foremost, I need silence. Nah, it's history.
That's why it's history. Gotta think what they... Let's keep this thing moving. Today's show is sponsored by Rowe. Now, everyone has their own pre-date routine. All right, let's talk. I got Roe with me right now. I know you do.
I'm up, Ron. You on that shit today.
You on that Roe, Gil. Roe will make you broke.
What?
You know? We working out some things, you know what I mean? You know?
You know I'm tired of seeing you. I'm tired of seeing you.
It's the homination time. She calling me. Ro will make it grow.
And speaking of growing, speaking of growing, let's talk about the Minnesota Timberwolves and the growth of their rosters. So the White Emberwolves made their preseason debut Monday night in Milwaukee. Road on cold, says Joe. With Ant-Man and the Mellow Ball sharing the floor together for the first time as teammates.
While Minnesota rolled out their starting lineup of LaMelo, Ant, Jaden McDaniels, Jonathan Kaminga, and Rudy Gobert against the Bucs. And it may just be preseason. But the Wolves are looking ready to do something in the West. Let's take a look at the highlights if we can, please. So, started at the tip off. LaMelo kicked things off. Those who remember LaMelo back in his high school days, the point and half quarter. So now this shot did not count, but I just put it in here because it should have.
Shout out to LaMelo.
Already on demon time to start.
So, LaMelo sighting. The jerseys look phenomenal. Kaminga got the first bucket for this new look. Wolf Squad, Kaminga signed that two-year, $ 12 million deal, trying to get a big payday. About a Minnesota. LaMelo solid in his debut. 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in almost 17 minutes of action.
Ant-Man led the squad with 14 points, 18 minutes. Didn't shoot at his best, but was taking shots nonetheless. While Kaminga added 8 points in 14 minutes. It's a double-digit lead early cruise of the win against this Bucs squad.
You see it. It just looked good.
Already in the running for my favorite league pass team of the season.
That's good basketball, man. If it's a Wolves game on, I will be watching.
Uh-oh.
You see Bones hollering to Kaminga. Yes.
Come on, man.
Busy Bones. Bones has the rebound.
I like this Wolf squad.
Has Rudy ever had this many losses? Hell no. I tried to tell you. This is probably going to be his best offensive year.
So the young squad show right away how dangerous they're going to be this season. In transition, he turned the defense into offense with the barrage of fast-paced buckets. As we saw there, Rudy Gobert catching lobs.
Oh, yeah. Wee-wee. Gilbert, we'll start with you.
What's your initial reaction to this new look? A very athletic and explosive look. Timberwolves squad. That's exactly what we thought was going to happen. You know, with another dangerous guard, it's going to be very hard to sit in Ant's lap.
You have a bunch of shooters.
Now you have Rudy Goldberg who know he can get lobs because he know they're going to pass it to him.
When we had the old Rudy, he'd be sitting down there. You ain't passing. You know what?
I'm just going to see if he can get them three seconds. But he know there's a willing passer on the court. I mean, everything you need to compete, they have it.
They have the dunker. They got defense. They got height. They got length.
They got scoring. They got shooting. They got dunkers. You got guys who can run the floor. Right now, it's how fast can we gel together to compete this year to try to win that chip? Because at the end of the day, just like New York, just like OKC won when they won, just like when Denver won, Toronto that year.
We just, the Bucs that year, right?
Just as long as we stay healthy at the right time, put ourselves in position, anything can happen once we get to the playoffs.
Right. They've shown that in the past anyway. I mean, Spurs went to the championship. They didn't think they would. Come on.
Right?
So it was just, hey, as long as we're clicking at the right time, so let's get familiar with each other and then, you know, make this thing work.
Yep. Swaggy, looking at this, why Ember Wolf Squad? You said that was your?
Favorite team, man.
Team of choice.
Y'all both can't be bullying me on this couch.
You ain't no fucking big.
Yes, I am. Is this like, can I sue y'all?
Wait, we can't say nothing good about the Wolves?
No.
We all agree we like the Wolves.
No, man.
We like the Wolves every year. We like the Wolves last year. We was going for the Wolves last year. What are you talking about?
Don't talk about no damn wolves. Don't talk about me, motherfucker. The treatment.
I get cussed out from here. He taking my team and shit.
It can be both your teams.
Man, I been said I was rocking with the wolves. It can be both your teams.
Yeah, that's my team. If I say that, what's going to happen to me?
Nothing.
He can say that. We both agree.
He going to take it. He going to take it. Yeah.
You probably can stand up.
No, no, no, no.
I can't. You trying. You get this thing and do them crowns, man.
Hey, can you go to Party City and get that plastic shit?
You know, one of them. Just get like five for ten dollars. You know what I mean? I guess he's trying to take them. He want to be the one that want to argue all the time.
I'm going to get the little five for ten and the mask too.
You can put the mask on too. Come here. Put your little mask on. Give him a little... We got the little George Foreman grill still in the back.
See, that's what I'm talking about.
You both can like the wolves. You want to be the only thing?
I'm not getting dragged into any shenanigans, Gil.
I had a very, very, very.
I had.
A tough little league game last night. Heat advisory. Got the walk-off, though.
Where did it come, man? Where did the green go? I need somebody nice in here. Call me with green. Danny Green. I don't want to be with.
Y'all, too. The fuck I do? He like the Wolves, too.
I can take the Wolves from Danny.
He like skin. You can share the Wolves, bro.
I just thought it was funnier than all of a sudden I'm with.
The Wolves this year.
That's what he want to bring.
He used to be a Laker fan.
He punked me at my party. He almost punked me to get on his team. I've been doing this for a long time. It's the weather for Draymond being right by my side. I had to whip my ass by myself.
This is possible. You keep coming back.
But yeah, I like the... I think the Wolves.
Little McCants.
The Wolves are going to be very exciting, man. And I'm glad that Ant and Jayden Daniels, they're getting the guys, you know, normalized on the team. Even guys like Bone Highland, you love his energy coming in.
As a, you know, off the bench.
Like, that's the guy that you don't want to see in the summertime, you know, out there on the court. You got to get people like him more comfortable out there. Rudy Goldberg, giving him confidence. He shaved the head, you know, got the gold tee. Shaft look, I don't know. He's trying to be tough. He's like, man, no more chokes.
You can't choke somebody who got a bald head and a goatee. I ain't never seen nobody bald head, goatee get choked.
Mr. Clean never got choked?
All he got is just wear all black. Just come in the arena with all black, black.
Every game.
He look tough to the motherfucker.
Never seen somebody bald-headed goatee. Goatee?
It's a strong goatee. It is strong. Not like a thin one.
It's a strong one.
A strong one. He grew it out. And if you shave this and just have this, yeah.
That's a prison one.
For sure.
For sure. Did life. The upper room.
That team right there is going to be very exciting.
Thank you. A lot of athletic list.
Finals, I said it.
Finals.
We see it on paper. Now we get to see it in action. Definitely some upgrades made across that roster. Ant-Man and Adam and Daniels trying to take the diapers off.
Didn't play with Kaminga. Put them in a starting lineup. Not doing like Portland doing with John. Not messing around. Making them feel good from the start.
There's going to be some really bad teams. I think there's going to be some really good ones.
When you think about some of them teams that were good, Because they were good last year. And then you look at, like, everyone who actually teamed up. And there's really two superstars on these teams. It's like some of them teams that we think is going to be up there.
Do you have a particular team in mind that you're thinking about? Phoenix. You know what's so funny? Phoenix is a team where.
They got to get a point. I hate when they play a point guard. Bro, I hate that shit. I think it's so lazy. Like, that's some lazy-ass shit. But, yeah, we can't get a point. Just put them at the one.
Like, bro, he's not a point guard.
For sure.
Like, I'm just, like, there's just so many of them. Lazy-ass, lazy, man. You can just do it. Fuck it, Kevin. Kevin Durant, you play point guard. What the fuck? So New York. Twin, you play. New York can catch a dip. Huh? New York can catch a dip.
If Cat ain't getting his money and now they're talking about trading him, that's over.
For sure.
It just depends on who they get from them, though.
I mean, to me, it sounds like they're not willing to compete unless everybody takes the pay cut.
I'd imagine everybody but Brunson. Hey, JB, Jalen Brunson, sacrifice for y'all. So y'all sacrifice for the rest. So y'all all sacrifice for him now so we can give him his bread.
He's on SNL. Let y'all come pull up. He's sacrificing for y'all, but we're not going to pay y'all. We're not going to pay y'all his sacrifice. We want y'all to sacrifice more.
Well, I don't think Cat came in sacrificing. I mean, he was already on the original contract. The original extension, right?
But they didn't get the extension. Nobody got their extension for... Who's been paid since Jalen Brunson?
Bridges, I think, signed a 4-for-150.
Since that? Let me see.
Yeah, that's why he sacrificed.
Since that sacrifice? That's what made these things possible.
When did OG sign this in 2024?
Who actually took less money? I mean, who? Because when does his money actually kick in? Who? Brunson's new deal. Is this the first year of it?
So Brunson signed his deal in 2024, but that's when they re-signed OG that same summer to.
A five-year, 2012 McDonald's. But his was an extension, right? Yeah, OG's was an extension. No, what was Brunson's? I believe, hold on a second. As I'm saying, so.
His money didn't, did his money kick in last year or was that the end of the deal.
For the first year? It was an extension as well. So let me, I'll tell you when the bread is coming in. See, so I think it kicks in this year. Got me out here like, Doogie, how is this? Yeah, they usually negotiate two years before.
Yeah. So they pay how much for OG? $ 200?
I think Brunson might have kicked in last year, if I'm not mistaken. Not if it's 2024. He signed an extension. 2024, 2025, 2025, 2026, 2026, 2027. I don't know. Yeah, this should be the first year.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I don't know. The math not mapping.
Y'all got Josiah doing a lot of shit. Thank you, Frankie.
I think it was last year because he got a player option.
I told y'all already. Shut the fuck up. Shut the fuck up already. Talk about this.
Doogie Howser. Man.
So back in the day.
Wait.
So it's beginning with the 25-26 season. So last season was the first year. Okay. And there's three more left with the player option. That's why you know I relish these moments and enjoy it five days a week.
He took that deal for OG to get his money.
OG cashed out in that 24. And then Mikael Bridges got his four-year 150.
See?
Four-year 150. But that was different all the time. But back to these Minnesota.
Why Amber Wolves? I like them, man.
Yeah, I think they're... I want to look at their schedule now to see what the possibilities are.
I think the playing style fits their youth.
Um, like I said before, I think everybody game kind of opens up because of the style of play. You got, you got the ultimate playmaker in LaMelo. Um, you got the ultimate scoring guard slash playmaker. And then I think you've got the best, like complimentary pieces that, you know, go along them as well. Uh, like I said, it was a clip of Kaminga getting that easy, uh, roll to the basket. I think that's going to be something that's almost unstoppable. Uh, Gobert, I think his scoring is going to go up. This might be his most efficient year.
His best scoring numbers, just getting easy dunks to the basket. And they're going to be able to get him the ball in positions to where he doesn't have to make a move or doesn't have to make an extra dribble. Just catching and finishing, which I think is his strength. So I think all the pieces complement each other. And then, like you said, Swag, you got Alphonse Holland coming off with the energy on the bench.
You also got Io coming off the bench as well.
So that two-guard combination is going to be super exciting as well. And also the scoring punch they'll need to extend leads or even gain leads in games. So I think they've addressed every need that the team was looking to address in the offseason. And overall, I just think they're a completely better team. They're one of the teams in the West that I would say improved from last year to this year and had, I would say, an overall successful offseason. So I think they had the best offseason out of any team. I mean, maybe except for Philly.
Who just picked up everything.
But as far as fit, need, and just improving the team, I would say they're sick.
Philly, then Miami? I mean, yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, you pick up a Giannis.
You just pick up a Giannis. Goddamn.
Denver not too bad. They're going to be top six with Summer.
Potentially get Dante DiVincenzo back too for the Wolves later.
They got a squad. They got a squad.
Man.
I'm learning about the other French kid behind.
Baron J? They're saying that he's the future, so. Seems like they got a lot of things in place.
And I mean, shit.
You got guys like Cat and AD out there that's trying to figure out their situations.
I mean. If you're really looking to improve the Wolves. Yeah. No.
Why are all these French big men taking all the. You may see Cat back with the Timberwolves. All France is big.
But all these French big men taking all the American big men jobs. Y'all cool with it?
Who, two? It's only two motherfuckers. You got Sarr, Wimby. No, no, no. Most of them. Most of them.
Yeah, it is.
All these big French motherfuckers just coming through.
The other big kid from Atlanta.
Oui, oui.
Zachary Rissaché is on the Mavs now. Yeah, he's... They.
Just forgot about him. Y'all don't bring him up when y'all talk about French people.
No, you don't talk about number one picks. That gotta be the quietest number one pick ever. I never heard nobody talk bad about him.
Because it was too busy bashing Brody for being 55th.
I mean, that's true.
The number one to pick all just walk.
Oh, are you right about that? That was somebody. Yeah, they're gonna rope brought it to a man.
Appreciate you taking that pressure off.
They said he got drafted. They said they had a during the day to draft. They was a Gucci concert. So they had a Gucci concert in the arena when the draft happened. They said after the concert, they just left.
They said, they was like, what's this?
Who's this?
That's crazy. Lemonade. That's crazy. Yeah, he's just, yeah. That is the quietest number one pick. No, for real. He's a guard. That's not really athletic. How did he go number one? When you work out by yourself, you can look real good. You know what's crazy?
I remember when the kid got drafted and Frank Mason said he played him overseas.
He was like, I don't see how this is a number one pick. That's crazy. I mean, shit. Anthony Bennett name ring louder than his. How many games did he play? But a lot of people said Sarge should have been.
He was done after five.
Anthony Bennett.
They got him up out of there, bro.
Seven games he was done.
Number one pick, bro.
Shut it down. Shut it down. Get him out of here.
No G League.
Nothing.
Get out of here. Man.
Damn. Tough.
That's tough. All you can do is work out.
You know what I mean?
That's all you can do is just work out, and then they draft you. Bro. Nobody's like, no, no, no, no. I'm not really a number one pick. I'm more like 15. Nobody's doing that. Damn.
Because you know when you're playing against somebody, who's that?
You know your love of the game is going to carry you through that. Oh, yeah. Yeah. You know if you're just waking up eating Popeye's. It's going to be all right. As long as you got love for the game, it's going to.
Be all right.
Guess he didn't have the love.
You see how crazy that shit sounds?
Guess he didn't have the love. That's all I'm saying for him.
Guess he didn't have the love. That's why I said bust it out. Damn. That's tough. Go, Joe.
No, thank you, Gil. We've been working together a long time. I've been on Indeed.com looking for other jobs.
I have some.
Some really good options coming through. May need a new vocation. I've been going to Bible study.
Kind of remind me of the Clippers draft week. I don't want to do it. A little bit.
Let the man win. Illinois. Keaton Wagler.
Hey.
What?
I didn't see it, bro.
I'm dead on the fence.
I seen him when they played in Houston. I didn't think he was a good pick for the Clippers.
That's what I'm saying.
But as a talent, I think he got talent. Big-ass combo guard. See, that's what it is.
It's a combo. Like, when I watched him against USC, and I'm like....
He was chilling.
I didn't think it was a good pick.
Like, what do you do? Like....
Everybody around you is actually pros, so you have an advantage over everybody else because these are Euro pros that can flat-out shoot. So this is not a bunch of college 19-year-olds. So you're doing pick and roll. They know how to play this game, so you're going to look real good. So I'm trying to figure out what your thing is.
Are you a point guard or are you a shooting guard?
That's what I was trying to figure out, yeah.
Right, and that was my thing with it. What you call LaMelo? LaMelo? He's a pure point. Who? Yeah, LaMelo. Pure point. I would call him a big-ass combo. No, I'm just saying he's a pure point.
He's a big playmaking combo. Average 30 and at Tennessee.
That's a combo goal. What's Luka to you? A big-ass combo. A playmaking combo. Like Shea. Shea is a combo. Like, Luka and them are more point guard-ish. I would say a playmaker. They can just score like a mother.
But, like, Shea is a– he's more of a shooting guard that's playing point.
I can play point. Right. But I'm going to put this thing in the basket. I'm never trying to have tennis says I don't need to do that. Right.
I'm going to make my passes, but my gift is putting that ball in that basket, and that's what I'm going to do. Right.
Like, with him, it's like he can shoot. can shoot that thing good.
It's like, now you got to put a team around him that fits his style.
So you, I guess, treat him like how you treated Steph a little bit, maybe?
He shooting it like that?
He has that ability.
That's why I only seen him twice.
He's not like, yeah. He's from Illinois, right? Yeah, he's not like, he's not like Trey Young.
That's why I only seen him twice.
I seen him at the USC game and a little bit in the tournament.
Yeah, he's more like, he's more of that.
He was chilling. Like, Colts, you know, when you that good, when you already know you good.
Yeah, he has a slobber.
Yeah, that's why I was like, man.
I hate that cool hoop. I hate that cool hoop. I hate cool hoop. So, last one. Yeah, I hate cool hoop. I can't stand it.
Last Wolves-related question, then we're going to move on. Will LaMelo and Ant become the most exciting perimeter tandem in the league this season?
Yes.
They already have that distinction?
Si.
Si?
Another thing, would you want to say yes this one again?
Ten assists?
What?
How many did you get? I didn't hear the question.
I didn't hear the question. I said, well, LaMelo and Ant. I wasn't fucking with you. What'd I say?
You said, you started doing this shit.
I'll answer his question. So how was I messing with you?
That's how you did me back there. See?
Just tag him on the shoulder, Swaggy. We'll get him out of here. What was the question? I said, will LaMelo and Ant become the most exciting perimeter tandem in the league this season?
Oh, yes.
Easy? Easy money?
Pusito.
Pusito.
Okay.
Muy bueno. What's another one? I mean. A combo? I think John Dane could be exciting. Possibly. I mean, I don't have answers to how it would work. But if it ever worked, it could be exciting.
The fact that that's.
A thought process, I'm done with you.
You got Maxie Edgecombe.
It's going to be hard for Maxie and Edgecombe because they'll be overshadowed.
Don't sleep on Tyrese Maxie's.
Bronze and my favorite Bahamian VJ I don't think Luca.
AR like in effect that like the fact that yeah but I'm just saying but the fact that.
You like it wait hold on I said yes but I'm thinking about the fact that job has to just.
He deal with that yeah he can't be.
Because of the stuff that he's bringing with him knowing damn well like I mean like.
Come off the bench For who? Got the hottest shoe in America. I started looking around.
For who?
Which one? He can't, though. Play the ones.
He can't, though, because you know.
Play the ones.
He can't wait to just talk about it.
Yeah, the politics. You think his defense that good? Check up. Let me show you what this is, but, you know, he has to play the politics.
That's fucked up.
John does have the hottest shoe in the game. Yeah, Nike about to have that nigga fired. Yeah. Like, I'm over here looking, like, off the bench. Is this a situation where Ja going to be there long term? I can't see it. He might be there for a good time.
If you're talking about the first time you mentioned me coming off the bench.
But that could hurt.
No injury, no nothing. I'll check that already.
That's crazy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm saying anything you want to hear now.
That's the only thing. It could hurt Ja, like, with trade value, too.
Nah, trade value only hurt the people that's trying to get something for me.
That's it.
Yeah, yeah, all right. Just sit me here.
Whatever you get back for me, when I get to the new destination, God damn it, I get to.
Be John Morant. Why isn't Orlando trying to get a John Morant? Huh? Because they got Anthony Orlando Black.
Dude, what is his money situation?
Is it like... Nah, he's got a pretty.
Is he hard to trade?
Pretty reasonable contract. Oh, no. Contract is very, very tradable.
Oh.
I think Miami's going to make a run for him. I think Pat Riley's going to make a run for him.
Which I hope I say.
In Brooklyn. Brooklyn?
Do you want to go to Brooklyn? Yeah, I'd go anywhere.
I don't want to win.
I'd be forgetting Brooklyn even. No, but what I'm saying is I don't need to win. This is by Allen Iverson. Put everybody in the seats. Just carry it back, sign you to Max. We ain't got to win. I know everybody going to be filled up.
Shit, I'm with Portland, dude.
All right, sure.
Let's keep this thing moving. Time to try and finesse some bread on Polymarket. This is Put That on Something. We're going to give you a trade on the Polymarket app, and you got to pick a side and put that on something.
I was right yesterday, too, the trade. I got Falcons. Y'all both picked the Saints. I picked the Saints.
They lost.
They got their ass whooped.
No, no, no. I picked the Saints to lose.
That's what I'm saying. I can never win with this motherfucker. So, shout out to Polymarket. Some great trading going on. We got to start the squads on Polymarket so we can keep track of all this stuff. But Timberwolves finished 6th in the West last season, a record of 49-33 before pulling the first round upset on the Nuggets, then losing to the eventual Western Conference champion Spurs in the second round.
But let's take a look at the Wolves' 20-27 win projection.
48?
Oh, my God.
The New Look Wolves projected to win 48 games this season. 65% of traders thinking they'll hit that mark. 65% of traders don't believe in the Wyamber Wolves. Let's take it to the couch.
You got the count, right? You got the count, right?
Yeah, put some money on that.
Put the count of what? What y'all been doing? Gil, I'm a host. No, what I'm saying, the account. The Polymark account.
I have a Polymark account. I'm putting a baby on it. I'm putting our child on it. If we have a child that's first born, go into the thing. You can't trade children on the polymarket.
How about the rights?
Is it trading?
I have no parts of that. No, like the rights. I can get my rights up. So you automatically gave your rights up. You automatically gave your rights up.
You already gave your rights up to Mellish.
Neither here nor there, but will the New Look Wolves win more than 48 games this season?
Let's go. I don't know. I don't shit no more.
Boogie, 48 games? I'm going to go yes.
Boogie said yes to 48 games, at least 48 games. Swaggy, do you think the Wyomber Wolves will win at least 48 games this season?
Yeah, I'm going to say yes.
Okay.
Facito.
Facito? Yes.
Si?
Yes. Gilberto? Yes.
Yes. Okay? Okay?
Okay, Papi. All right. That was Put That on Something, presented by Polymarket. Trying to put something on it. Download the Polymarket app.

Polymarket. No limits. No house.
Instant cash out. Some of the most accurate sports odds and forecasts in the world. We've had a sufficient basketball discourse for the day. Got a little out-of-pocket. Brought it back in. But now we've got mostly fans coming up. We need some bread. It's time to send out those offering plates, ladies and gentlemen. We like the money that jingles, but we'd rather have the money that folds. You can start an OnlyFans account and then you would never have to work again. Get breaded up. I'm just telling you.
You say you don't want to work. Do OnlyFans.
Limited work. Maximum results. It'll be the work. You will. Let me pull up. Hold on. I got to put on mine.
No, I'm coming with the crown.
My very expensive reading glasses. Those are not prescription.
These are not. I got these off Amazon. So another comment. The Wizard Inn. I remember the first time I met Nick. He spent, what was it, $ 500? $ 900. $ 900, man.
It was $ 1, 000.
$ 900, he went and bought some $ 900 shades, man.
And one of our teammates broke it, put they nuts on it, boy. The Balenciagas, if I'm not mistaken? Yeah, he broke them.
Well, there's balls on them. Damn. Boy, do you... Until Gil started it.
I'd never see someone snap and go ape in my life.
Full baboon. Ain't gonna be no bear. Good.
A rookie team. Like, the birthday training camp. You know how you see someone laugh all the time? Man.
Boy, the aim came out. It took about 10 niggas to hold him down. Boy, we tried to have to put him to sleep. Boy, it was too strong. That ape strength.
What is this?
As long as you start it, though.
That day right there, boy. That's when we was like, yeah.
All right, now let's get on to... Don't break his glasses. Mostly fans, the Balenciagas. The Wizard Inn. The Wizard Inn, every day, supporting. Might be our most dedicated super chatter. Which two teams need a guard from Portland the most? Which two teams need a guard from Portland the most?
I would say Houston, depending on how Fred Van Fleet looks coming off of Andrew.
Orlando.
I mean, we just kind of spoke about Orlando. They do got a good young guard in black, but, you know, I think we'll know more this year how they look. Because I believe they are starting black this year, right? Blacks, I mean, it's hard to– Him and Suggs. Him and Suggs, yeah. I would say those two groups. Maybe a New Orleans.
I would say the whole Florida, really.
The whole Florida. Miami. Miami.
Yeah.
I like Davion Mitchell, though.
I do, too.
Yeah, they usually have that defensive guard at the point. Boston.
Damn, for sure.
Who's Boston's guard? Pritchard. Peyton Pritchard, right?
He could be a point guard. Derrick White? Derrick White?
That's usually my shooting guard. Yeah, who's my point guard over there? Patrick Richards.
He starts now. He started last year with Brown.
At times, they shifted over the bench. Right now, ESPN has the projected starters, Derrick White, Baylor, Shireman, Paul George, Jason Tatum, and Kata.
So Derrick White has to be the point.
But Peyton Pritchard has operated, I think thrives more in that six-man role.
That's what I say. Shireman? It is Boston. I'm picking Boston. They need a point guard. Okay. Put De'Aaron White back at the shooting guard. Let him do his thing. All right.
Let's keep it moving. He's stuck in that.
We got a comment from WestYTYT. Said, Boogie, just know that as a Lakers fan, always viewed you as a Laker caliber player. Hope that you came to the Lakers after Kobe's Achilles tear. He would have given you the keys all the game and maybe played three to five more years.
Just a comment. I was on the Lakers, bro. But after Cubbies, earlier in the season.
I was on the Lakers.
I didn't play, but I was there.
I swear I had a finger scan and everything. I knew where the parking lot was. Did you go to a Taco Tuesday? There's a video you sitting there. Bro, yeah.
I got video on the video. I was in my little blazer.
You know what I'm saying?
I probably wasn't paying attention. No, I was. You know, I used to, when Bron be out there tripping and shit, I'm like, Bron, come on. That was your job. That's it. Bron, come on.
We have a comment from Max Bet Cashout said, T-Mac didn't do himself any favors by making that comment. It feels good to get out of the first round. After one playoff win against the Bucs, it's just a music. Because he's Max Betcash?
I don't know. It's just a music.
This motherfucker ain't never played nowhere talking about it feel good to get out the first shot. That's what T-Mac said.
Oh, I thought the fans said that. Just offering some commentary.
That's the thing that people hold really over T-Mac. That he gloated before the series was over with.
Right?
Technically, it. Cole threw a shot when it was like, how does it feel to get out of the round?
Oh, yeah.
It ain't over yet. Job not done.
Job not done. I'm not finished.
I'm not finished.
So we got a comment from RG Basketball, another longtime Super Chatter supporter of the show. Out of the teams that finished last season, what teams will not be an easy win? Out of the teams that finished last season, what teams will not be an easy win?
Who all finished last? Oh, shit, that's Utah Jazz and Wizards. Wizards, the Thizzards. Memphis will still be bad.
It will not be. It will be an easy win. So Jazz Kings, Grizzlies were the bottom. Jazz Kings, Grizzlies, Mavs were the bottom. And Pelicans were the bottom five. I'd say the Jazz out of that group. And then in Adam Silver's Eastern Conference, you got Wizards, Pacers, Nets.
Bulls, Bucks. Pacers. Pacers, Wizards.
Pacers, Wizards. Yeah, that one will be an easy win. We have a comment, Gil, from Superfuture.
O-A-J said, tombstones in the chat.
Put $ 5 in the offer paper. It says tombstones in the chat. Oh, y'all.
Tombstones in the chat.
Tombstones in the chat. Got a comment from MaxGo24. That's crazy. MaxGo24 said, did y'all see Lucas' pregame dunk? Threw it up? Yeah.
He didn't dunk.
Yeah. He did.
He threw it off the backboard, too.
What's that mean? Sure you lost weight. Back then it was just hard layups. We celebrating a professional dunking the ball.
That's what I was saying.
That motherfucker do something we never seen before. He ain't dunking.
That's what I was saying with the running.
Fat Luka can only tap. Fat Luka can only tap. Man, Luka can dunk, bro. It's like, yeah, let me.
Show y'all how much weight I lost.
All right, last comment from our super chatter question. What seed would you consider a failure for the Wolves this year?
I have them. Western Conference Finals or bust with this roster? Don't put that much pressure. Damn, right? Are they a Western Conference Finals team? Yeah, I think they are. The Wolves? Okay. Yeah, the Wolves, yeah. I think they are. Are they going to make it? That's the thing, yeah. I mean, they still got two juggernauts in front of them. Shit, three. Denver, OKC. Denver, I think they're better than Denver. Yeah, they own Denver.
But Denver still will be in the way. Yes. It's Denver, OKC, Spurs.
Spurs.
We sleeping on Houston. We sleeping on Houston. That's what I'm saying. Marcus Smart was a great.
Addition to that team.
I'm going to just stay asleep.
You got Fred Van Fleet, Marcus Smart, Swaggy. They've got their point guard issues figured out. I'm going to nap all day. I'm not going to sleep.
They got Bogdanovich too, right?
I wouldn't give a damn.
I'm going to sleep.
My onesie but like if they got some veteran guards if houston is if sangoon got any better with a little midi just a little midi not a great midi just a little midi and those wings play basketball not i just want to sit there and shoot threes like i'm I just want to play basketball.
I'm going to be cutting back door. I'm going to be doing, I'm going to be Aaron Gordon.
They got two Aaron Gordon's on the left and the right. I, that would be a whole different team because you do got money sniper over there. Not everybody's playing real basketball back.
Man, that's going to be a hard team to be. Yeah, I agree. Steven Adams back. If they came out going on this bullshit.
If they came out 15 and 0, that's not a surprise.
Yeah, I agree.
They got all the talent in the world. I'll just shout out to the Rockets.
See, And shout out to our super chat that was mostly fans here on Gil's Arena.
I can now remove my glasses. Get back on.
And shout out to Gil. This amazing green screen spared no expense.
Shooting threes and shit.
I know that's what I said. They just shooting threes and shit.
All right.
Oh, can y'all drop McCann's new channel?
Stop, man.
What is it? It's Twitter. No. Just leave it alone.
L-I-G.
Don't say nothing.
Let's move along.
I am Dr. McCann.
Enough is enough. It's 2026. We got to increase the peace on these internet.
I can see how you're crazy.
It was 2026 when he did what he did. One day. The fact that you just let this slide. You let it slide. I'm a little league coach. Whatever, Joe. You're the one who set up that. I didn't do anything. Joe did this.
I didn't appreciate you dragging my name into this shit. I was minding my business. I was minding my business.
No, you weren't. I was minding my business all last year. No, you wasn't. Yes, I was. And I was over here. I mean, I was creeping, but I was minding my business. Over here. Wasn't bothering nobody. Drinking your Soso's and your apple juice. I know what I was doing.
Was y'all defending me there when the cameras wasn't off?
You seen what I said?
What'd you say? No, yeah, you did. Yeah, yeah.
Woody, son.
Why you move your hands like that? Gil, I went to Hawaii. I know you did. On the plane.
On the plane.
Life laugh for those of you. I'm done being petty. I flew first class. I made the family fly business.
That's just. That's the way you do it, man. Oh my God, bro. That's what we do. I'm just fucking with y'all. Shout out. I'm just kidding, Swaggy. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding.
Kids have never touched economy, but God bless everybody in the chat. Shout out to everybody on this couch. Shout out to our amazing crew. This has been another episode of Gil's Arena presented by Polymarket.
And powered by Playmaker. We will see y'all tomorrow.
