Hey, I need to tell y'all about this new sports trading app I discovered. It's called Polymarket. It's the most exciting way to trade in sports, and it's a nationwide, federally regulated prediction market. Polymarket is the best prediction market, better than Couchy, DraftKings, and FanDuel. In the past, if you wanted a position on a game, you'd put your money in and get locked in until the very end.

But Polymarket lets you trade games like you would a stock, buying in and selling out entirely on your terms. When your team drops to 20 cents, you buy the dip. And when they jump to 40 cents, you sell, lock in your gains, and double your money without waiting for the final whistle. And it isn't just sports. You can trade on culture, news, and current events. Plus, they have a squads feature where you can talk and trade with your friends. Any trade a member places drops right into the chat as a card, and anyone can hit buy to take that same pick in one tap. Ditch the old limitations and trade on your terms. Download the Polymarket app and use code ARENA. And when you deposit just $ 10, you'll unlock $ 25 in bonus funds. That's code ARENA to

get $ 25 in bonus funds when you deposit just $ 10 on Polymarket. Welcome back to Gil's Arena presented by Polymarket and powered by Playmaker.

2-0. 80 more games.

Left to go. Hey, low-key, I think I'm winning in the fantasy. Like, low-key. It's first Friday. Teams don't even have enough of a sample size for that. I'm just saying low-key. No, no low-key, no-key. It's only been like three games.

Huh?

We ain't even did a full week of basketball yet.

I'm tied for three. I'm tied for third right now.

All right, well, who's in first? Brandon. Who's in second? Uh, Baron Davis. Oh, man. No, Baron's number one. Oh, really? Yeah, Baron's number one. The Baron Davis? Yeah. He wants to have somebody great picking his team for him. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Huh?

Where am I? Wow. We're tied for third. The chat has to stay. Oh, we are?

Huh?

Okay. No, no, no ball. All right, but look, this is Gil's Arena. I'm really your host, Josiah Johnson. I'm here with NBA legend, 2K Uncle Badges, Theater King, and the goaded Gilbert Arenas.

2K Uncle.

The not-in-first-place... in our Gills Arena Fantasy League, Gilbert. I was.

I wouldn't brag. Let's just say, you know what I mean? Shea played two games already, you know? Didn't get that point. Jalen Brown played two games. That's how you got... You went from last to first.

Choose wisely. We got NBA... We got NCAA champion of the world, three-time NBA champion of the world, and when he's not in the arena, you can check out his Inside the Green Room podcast or catch him calling Lakers games. Danny Green, back in here. Yeah. Light-skinned and excellent. Personified.

Appreciate that.

Thanks y'all to the Lakers too. Yeah, man.

Good little stuff.

Appreciate it, man. Hey, happy for you too, man. Thank you. I know y'all under a lot of pressure over there. Bronny on the Lakers too. We're on both coasts. And we got former college player of the year, number two overall pick, played 10 seasons in the league, Evan Turner. Back here with us. Glad to be here, man.

Yeah.

The chat wants us to do a pause counter on you today. Where?

I'd be honored, man. I'll try to keep it low. Ten pauses or less.

Ten pauses or less.

If you think about talking basketball, there's a lot of questionable phrases that goes into the game. So once you remove yourself emotionally, you see how sticky shit can really get you.

Pause.

You know what I mean? Grady Dick. There you go, Grady.

Imagine trying to explain, trying to describe Wemby. There's no way you get around it. This whole segment is going to sound questionable.

That's why we love the league. We got a lot of things to discuss. Here's what's cracking in the arena today. The Sixers overcame a 29-point deficit on the Cavs to stay undefeated with back-to-back wins over last season's Eastern Conference finalists. Does the league run through Philly now? We know the answer, but we still have to ask. SGA willingly ended his 20-point streak as the Thunder got another big win over Jokic and the Nuggets. Did Shea make the right decision?

And Jalen Brown calls cap on Jason Tatum's comment about his trade to the Sixers. Was the Jays' breakup messier than we were led to believe? We will discuss. We have some insider information we will share today. It's going to be a very interesting conversation. The cap right after beating the Cavs, right on IG. No words needed. A simple emoji, but Mostly fans, back for our Super Chat.

We appreciate your Super Chat. You guys have been asking some great questions. Throw some bread in the offering plate, ask your question, and we'll pick some to answer at the end of the show. Shout out to all our Twitches out there, Gills Arena, everywhere you want to be, including Twitch. If you have not done so already, make sure you subscribe to the At Gills Arena Show Twitch channel.

We appreciate y'all for all the subs and all the love. Let's get right to it. Only two games last night. Let's get to the biggest one. Two days after spoiling the Knicks ring night. That's what I'm saying. All right, let's get to the big aggressive. Yeah, let's just go aggressive. Let's talk basketball. So two days after spoiling the Knicks ring night with a statement game in their season opener, Sixers Big Four plus one more made their home debut against last season's Eastern Conference finalist Cavs. First half was an absolute embarrassment for the Sixers as they were outscored 35-18 in the first quarter. Trailed by as much as 29 before cutting the deficit to 24 at the break.

Philly fans showered their super team with a chorus of boos and even booed the halftime performer. Philly's booed Santa before, so nothing. I'm just trying to get my halftime performance on. I'm out here getting booed. I had nothing to do with the game. They booed Beyonce?

They booed Destiny's Child during the 2000 NBA Finals. They did wear a Kobe jersey, so.

I guess it was different. I would have booed at least three of them. I don't think Beyonce felt like they was booing her. But it do get awkward. I've been on the court when.

Someone's getting booed.

Damn, dawg. Come on, coach. Get him out the game, man. I've been there before. Get me out.

I'm struggling.

Philly fans booed their team, but the Sixers used those frustrations to fuel a historic comeback and make another statement for the second straight game. We pick up the action in the second half. If we can, please, Paolo. The highlights. So, Philly opened the third quarter.

See, I don't want to show the bad stuff of Philly in the first.

Dan, we're telling a story here. We don't have a ton of time, all right? We are very limited in our capability. Only got three hours. We're storytelling. You tell the most important part of the story. Philly opened the third quarter with an 11-0 run. Outscored the Cavs 37-21 in that third frame. Tyrese Maxey led the Sixers with a team-high 32 points, along with six assists and two steals.

Maxie helped lead the comeback on both hands. He was playing offense and defense. Man. Look at you, Gil. Look at you. Glowing watching these tickets. LeBron stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals in his Philly home debut. What was a 24-point deficit got cut to just 8 heading into that fourth quarter.

Thanks in large part to players like that. Look at them. Look at them. Tyrese Maxie's a dog. Maybe the Philly fans weren't booing him. They were just saying boo. Hey, boo. Hey, boo. Let's go. Embiid doing his thing as well in this game. In the final frame, Joel Embiid, Jalen Brown took over. Process scored seven straight points in that fourth quarter, including the go-ahead bucket to give the Sixers their first lead of the game. Wait, I think that might be this right here. Oh, here it is. Jam, jam, jam.

Middie.

Oh, no.

Miscommunication on defense.

It's so pretty. Embiid finished with 24 points, seven boards on 8 of 16 shooting. And Jalen Brown kept the momentum rolling, scoring on three straight possessions to help the Sixers extend their lead. Jalen Brown scored 10 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter. Had eight rebounds as well. Sadie didn't have a left. Sixers outscored the Cavs 69-37 in the second half to complete a historic 37-point turnaround.

It was the biggest comeback in LeBron's career and the Sixers' largest comeback ever. In the play-by-play era.

What, 95, 96?

We got two Sixers legends on the couch. Yeah, play-by-play, I think it's 96, 97. I think Charles Barkley said they had a 30-point comeback when I was watching inside the NBA. But, you know, in the last 30 years. So, Maxie LeBron had this to say after the emotional night.

I went to halftime in the team and I said.

We're about to see what we made of now.

We can't be frontrunners.

You know, when everything is good, we hype. When everything turns bad, we did.

A good job of being resilient.

LeBron, first time in front of these fans for real.

What were your impressions of, you know, the energy and the building despite the rough starts?

It was everything that I dreamed of and more. Got the booze. That was amazing. We deserved it. And then we got the cheers and almost... Almost blew the roof off this thing tonight, you know, in a good way. So that was a hell of a night.

Yes, it was, Brian. Yes, it was. It was a hell of a night for all of us, even those watching on the West Coast. So Cleveland was 155-0 when leading by 29 plus points since 1996, while Philly was 0-156 when trailing by 29 points in that same span. Since what year? 1996, play-by-play era. I don't make the rules.

Play-by-play era. About 30 years. 100 and what?

56. They were 155-0 Cleveland, and Philly was 0-156. most of those was just LeBron. So LeBron started and ended.

No. LeBron didn't get to Cleveland until 2003, sir.

You really believe Cleveland, the Cavaliers, in 96 was getting and winning by 29?

Oh, this was a positive. During the Michael Jordan era? This was a positive. This was positive, Gil.

I'm just saying during the Jordan era, the goddamn Houston era, who do you think they was beating by 29 points?

I'm sorry, Gil. I didn't realize you were glazing LeBron.

I'm just saying it was just two or three games maybe in the 90s. I was like, now this is LeBron James.

Terrell Brandon was on the team. Sean Kemp. That was a good team, man. You remember them Reebok Sean.

Kemps, man. I remember. I'm just saying. Terrell Brandon was a problem, too. I'm going to say him.

Now I got to go to him.

Wesley Persons was on the team before he turned into Wesley People and all that.

So we got two Sixers ledgers on this couch. E.T., we're going to start with you. I swear to God, I'm not a Sixers fan. Second overall pick. I'm telling you. You are well-respected in Philadelphia. No, they hate my guts. Free cheesesteaks at Angelo's. You know, I ain't shit. Let's keep going. Biggest takeaways from the Sixers' historic comeback win in their home opener against the Cavs.

I think after, like, the second half, they started locking in and taking care of the ball. In the first half, they had seven assists, 14 turnovers, and they ended up you know, only committing two turnovers the rest of the night. So I think, uh, one thing was taking care of the ball. Another thing was finally mixing in shots. You see in the first half, a lot of them struggled to score, but you seen MB, you know, come on late and start. He shot 50% from the field and that was 24 points. Jalen Brown, he went to work in the fourth quarter. I think one thing that they did was get back to their identity of forcing turnovers. Um, You know, that backcourt, including Peyton Watson, they all had five turnovers apiece. And, you know, when you start, you know,

mixing in turnovers and getting stops and getting teams on their heels, you know, it wasn't too many possessions for them to, you know, be advantageous with.

Beautiful words there from every turn. Let's shift over to this side. Danny Green.

Yeah.

Watching these Sixers. Another impressive win back there. Yeah, very impressive. 2-0. Still on pace.

I mean, the biggest thing, like Tyrese said, you see the resilience there. You're wondering what they're going to look like when they get some adversity. It's still very early, so it's small sample size, but for them to rack up wins against teams that are familiar with each other already, like they're a new team. They played against the Knicks.

They played against Cleveland. Those guys, those groups have pretty much brought back the same teams from last year. For them to overcome waves and runs shows a lot of resilience, but The biggest thing in the first half we saw was a lot of their weaknesses in the holes. Defensively, they struggled. They showed in the second half that they can actually pressure, play defense, force turnovers because their superpower is running. They have three guys that were in the top ten of fast break points last year. So if they can get turnovers and run and have teams play in a half-court set or have their offense in a half-court set because it looked ugly in a half-court in the first half. But once they got out and running,

they got into a rhythm. But they're able to defend better than what people thought they were. They're coming together a lot quicker than we expected because Cleveland first half, I was like, they did what they're supposed to do. Like, they're a familiar team. They know each other. This is what Knicks are supposed to do game one. But then, of course, Cleveland let it go to shit second half. But, yeah, you got to give a lot of credit to Philly.

Cleveland also, part of it was Cleveland kind of shit the bed. But, you know, Philly showed a lot of resilience.

All right, good. Let's shift over to you. Appreciate the LeBron glaze earlier in this segment. Let's see if we can keep it rolling in a positive way.

No, I'm just saying, like, that's ironic that the same guy kind of did the majority of that work and then he ended it too.

Greatness. Brongevity.

What do you think of Philly?

Not much?

I mean, the start is good, man.

I mean, you know, being down 29, like, you usually just mentally pack that up. Right?

I mean.

You're like, all right, I'm straight.

So it's easy to just concede that game and then just get ready for it. So to mentally still stay engaged and make a comeback to end up winning that game is remarkable.

Right?

It's just like when you get booed at home, that means they don't like what you're doing at that moment. You get booed on the road, they're afraid of you in a sense. You are that dude. So when you're getting that boo at home, it hurts. So it's easy to say, man, I'm good.

You know what I mean? So the fact that they came back, won that game, it looked good.

Is it more on Philly looking good or is it more on Cleveland being pretty damn bad?

I don't know.

You ever been, you ever hear, like I've played against the Knicks, and our game plan was, hey, jump on them really early.

If they get down by.

10 in the first quarter, the fans will turn on them, and then they become your fans. They're going to just cheer for basketball itself, right? So if you're Cleveland and you hear them booing and you crashed out, Yeah, man.

That's a problem. That's a problem, man.

It's definitely a problem to give up a 29-point lead. But I think, like, shout out to the Sixers for giving themselves the opportunity to get dangerous. Because when you look right now, Tyrese Maxine at pick and roll. And you got Joel Embiid being able to set the pick and roll. You got Jalen Brown being able to set the pick and roll. Or even LeBron James. That's hell to tell the captain.

They even had time setting screens for Bron to get off and go downhill. It was kind of crazy.

You just saw the Knicks win in that type of situation this past year, and it's like, man, that's going to be very dangerous, especially if Bron is your quote-unquote fourth-best option or output. To come down to winning time or clutch moments, you're going to have to really try to beat them or hope they're cold.

I give a lot of credit to Philly, but I think this is more on Cleveland. Like, y'all are Eastern Conference Finals team. Nah, that's a hard fact. You brought everybody back. You're up 30 to a new team.

This has been a problem for the Cavs. Yeah.

What the... Like, yeah, change something. You should have changed something in the offseason. Y'all had all offseason to think about the 22 points you gave up to the Knicks. And y'all do this against the second game into the season. Well, first game for them.

Nah.

Again, a lot of credit to Philly.

They look good.

But Cleveland, come on, man.

What are we doing? You know, it's funny. The reason you can give it to Cleveland and.

Say, I'll just say you let off the gas and 29 points at any point in the game is usually a victory. there was only one team that he was up 29, you was like, I don't know, if we don't get up 40.

Yeah. The Warriors?

Yeah, them light-skinned boys can cut this.

That used to be scary, bro. By the time halftime, after halftime, they have it down to 15.

Because of the way they shoot three.

You got 25 more minutes with them niggas.

So now, so like now, you're like, with that Philly team, they do have a bunch of players that can, actually get crazy at any point, right? Because it's not like we can just stay focused on this same person and neutralize him.

That person can say, you know what?

It's not my night.

Maxie, do it. Run.

Well, I'll just play defense for the night and then hopefully in the fourth quarter you can come find me.

They have four people who can do that. You know what I mean? And that becomes a problem. It feels like a blessing and a curse though at times. You look at that first half. I'm just saying you have all those guys on the court, one ball. It looked ugly in the first half. That offense looked atrocious. You know why it looked ugly?

They're trying to appease the narrative of one ball. So you do a bunch of Overpassing. Like, bro, you got him, dawg. Like, you know what I mean? Like, it's a swing. Like, and you swinging at me, I'm swinging at him. Like, he's swinging in the back. Like, this should never look like... You see them games sometimes where... Boston did a lot where someone drives, passes it back.

He has a shot. He drives, swings it.

He has a shot. He swings it. He drives baseline pass back. And then now, oh, my God, look at all the good passing. And I'm sitting here, man, that dumbass offense. And if you don't shoot the fucking first shot, man, and get the fuck back on defense. You did all this, man, to make a bunch of people run back.

I'm like, that's cool. That's what the Spurs do. That's what the Spurs do. You have a bunch of role players.

Yes.

They have too many superstars. You don't have to do that.

I'm like, that looked good.

It looks good. We're just the Princeton. Yeah, let's go kill them. Like, come on, man. You're not that first one. A man of moving the ball around on offense.

Because sometimes it's like, I do it like percentages. It passes to my best player, 99%, right? 42% pass it.

99%, he drives. 42%.

Then he passes it back to the same guy who already had a 99.

Man, if you don't take the first one, man.

We could have been back on offense. That's how I look at it. He could have shot that shot back and came back. Y'all still over here fucking around.

I appreciate that.

That's really like, If you know the go-to, I used to tell people, hey, bro, don't worry about me too much, baby. I'm going to get my bucket. I'm going to be pissed if I shot your shot.

Like, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, yeah. For the sake of a team, it's just like, the fuck is you doing, champ?

But, yeah, the game is possessions. The more possessions, the better. So, like, if you got a good early shot, take it. Unless it's, like, time, last two minutes, or you're trying to get a two-for-one or some shit like that, fourth quarter. But early in the game, ain't no need to. Like, I mean, I'm all for good to great.

Yeah.

But there's great shots with those guys because they're all great. They're used to taking and making tough shots.

All right, so what does an opening night victory at MSG against the Knicks on ring night and this historic home comeback two nights later against the Cavs say about this Philly squad? Very early on, small sample size, still projected to win 82 games this season.

I mean, he's been on championship teams every win. that seem unwinnable just gives you more confidence in, you know, moving forward. So winning on the ring night, I'm, you know, LeBron's never won on the ring night. Right? So every time he's played.

On the ring night, he's never won. So he's like, you know, just a game, just a game. You know what I mean?

So the fact that he got that win, he, you know, he got that monkey off his back. And then being down 29, get that off your back. Like, you don't really think you can be beat at that point. That's going to go in like, man, we can come back from anything.

Especially those two teams. Those are the better teams in the East. So if they can beat Knicks and Cleveland, the only one left would be Detroit, Boston.

And they will see the Pistons on Sunday.

And before you even really find your stride, too. So you make that comeback, the camaraderie, even just the conversation. You saw Tyrese Maxey say in the locker room, we see what we made of. The response to that was everything.

Like, who else in the East?

I mean, you still got to be worried that y'all did get down 29.

You know what I mean? Like, whoa. That was going to be a question, too, for me, though. Like, yeah, happy with a 29-point comeback win. But with this squad, two games in the season, I'm not seeing them being down 29 to the Cavs.

It shouldn't have happened. But sometimes you have bad shooting nights, and it's early. Glorified scrimmage is still right now.

Sometimes you can't have too many guys in the starting lineup starting slow. Sometimes Brian might start slow and then Joel might be like, ah, he's in a hoop today. Only person that kind of starts with a bounce is Tyrese Maxey. And I think if you, like you said, if you go up against the Sixers, that's going to be their knock. They start off slow, go get them early.

That's why, like, if I was coaching, I'm telling Vijay and Maxey, always start off aggressive. Yeah. Let some of these, even JB, these two old ones, they're going to kick in. Unless they say, hey man, I'm feeling good today.

Come to me early.

Other than that, expect to just come out the gate full bore. You're trying to score every single time down court until we get to the nine minute mark.

I want you guys to get it going.

That's going to be an adjustment for them, but also for the two, not the two old guys, but definitely, Joel's used to getting the first, like, 10 possessions. So him having to wait, you know, not touch the ball early on, that's going to be an adjustment for him.

I feel like that's dead since JB and LeBron have, like, come on.

Yeah, that's what you got to get used to.

No, I totally dig it, but I'm just saying, like, I feel like Maxie has taken over as his main go-to guy, so I feel like That luxury he's had now has kind of been taken away, which is why he kind of lollygags and is kind of always in the way, trying to figure out where he's... And that's part.

Of why the offense is like.

Yeah. Look like that.

They still figure each other out.

Yeah.

Joel still figure... Like... adjusting to not touching the ball the first eight. He gets warm-up in the first quarter.

It ain't a deadline. That's true. That's what I'm saying.

My first six shots, it's like, oh, sorry, now I can recalibrate. Get to the free throw line. Now he got to be like, shit, he's kind of a role player now. So that's why you see him taking them threes. He can't pass those up. He might not get another shot.

And that's why the details of it all matters.

And if you know.

how you played before these first six minutes, you know what I mean? Just get a feel of the game, right? Now you don't have that luxury, right? So that means now whatever your routine was, that means now warm-up line has to be more aggressive for you.

You got to change it.

Right, you got to change it so that's your first six fucking minutes now.

You know what I'm saying?

Now you're coming in with a sweat because it's a different season, right? So that has to be a thing that you have to... If you're trying to be who you're trying to be, different stage, different moment, I got to.

Change my routine just a little bit. Let's talk about the man who's established himself as the Sixers' number one option so far this season, Tyrese Maxey, for the first two games. Could be MVP caliber. 30 points per game. And, Danny, that is my question. Is Maxey proving that he's a top five player in the league right now? We have 13-mile NBA last season. Why you always got to throw, like, the top five? That's crazy.

Like, just, you know what, just be fair. Just say 10 because we– Yeah, five is sewn up.

We got to all figure.

Out how to say no without being negative to the five. Like, I don't want to say fuck no, but I got a six, you know, or seven.

Twelve. Yeah.

I mean, there's a lot. You got SGA, you got Luka, Giannis, Wemby.

There's like a set score.

There's literally a set score.

And then you got, yeah, and then it's. But I'm saying the way this team is shaping up.

But to your question, he could be in this season, he could have a top five player season.

Thank you, Dave, for answering the question. And be in.

An MVP conversation. They keep winning. He's the leading scorer of that team. And they're going to be top two or three in the East. Yes, he could be in the MVP conversation, which, I mean, JB was what? He finished in fifth in MVP voting last year?

Or sixth? Yeah. He ended up finishing sixth?

Yeah, Tyrese could be fifth or sixth in MVP voting, or even higher, depending on how well they do. They're number one seed overall, and he's averaging 30, what he's averaging right now, because he had 28 first game, 32 now.

He's averaging 30.

He's in the conversation.

Playing defense, I'm saying, going at a high level, looks to be benefiting the most. And we had talked before this season about who's going to have to sacrifice, whose team is it in. through these first two games, made it clear which one of y'all going to sacrifice.

We're all trying to figure out, it's his team, and then everybody else going to get to the chicken, and then everybody else got to figure out where the chips is at.

That's why I said, whoever the fastest is, that's who team it is. Because at the end of the day, once the ball hits his hand, he can just take off. I can go score before y'all get down here. Y'all better put a wall down here if you want me to back it up and slow it down to then run offense. Right, so because the ball is in his hand, he has the biggest advantage over everybody.

And, again, that's why they're so good and able to come back because not only he's fast, but Jalen gets out and runs. Three guys in the top ten in transition, so they can't just focus on him in transition. They've got to focus on Bron. They've got to focus on Jalen. So they're going to be dangerous, man. They're going to win some games just because they're so talented.

Let's just talk Bron quick. You're 24. Obviously, we know what Bron's been previously kind of got. That's just crazy. Pushing to that third option last season with the Lakers more or less against his will. He did good. That's fine. That's your team.

Who created this narrative?

Man, he was never a third option. That's how they were treating him. That's a lie. That's how they were treating him.

He was a second option at best.

He was never no third option. Okay.

When they were all playing together, he was never a third option. If you look at the stats, when they played together, Austin Reeves suffered the most. Austin Reeves was averaging 30, was it 33?

Yeah.

And when it was all together, his numbers suffered so bad. So I really don't get where we just be making shit up at.

So what was the question?

I don't just throw the narrative out.

He was the third option. Do you agree or disagree with that first and foremost, Danny? Because I think it was pretty evident LeBron was the third option. He was playing third fiddle.

I think on paper they said that.

To the exciting whites.

But.

I'm with Gil.

I think. He started out as a third option when he first came back because he took those 20 games off. Once he got in rhythm and Austin, they had guys in and out. I think Bron naturally became the more stable second option. Playoffs, I think he was the first.

Option because those other guys were out. Of course.

But I think majority of the year when they were all together on the floor, he probably was the second option, honestly. It was night-to-night basis.

But just looking at this squad now, he seems very comfortable. Yeah. Y'all got it. I'm old. I'm about to be 42. Yeah. I'll get it where I fit.

He's playing a role right now. I said it's weird for me to see it, but, I mean, he looks efficient. He's in great shape. He looks efficient doing it.

Because we heard D-Wade said he can't be anything but an alpha.

No, 1,000.

And it looks like he's... But you compare that lineup, I guess, to the champions last year with the Knicks. I don't want to be disrespectful, but he's down there like Josh Hart on steroids. Yeah, Mikel Bridget. Yeah. Like the fourth option. So anytime your fourth option is a LeBron James, and even last night, He's not always going to shoot that bad, and he's not always going to have five turnovers. He's going to be in play, and I think once he starts getting more efficient game in and game out, he's going to leave his imprint on the game in a dominant fashion.

I also think he could be an alpha in other ways.

You know what I'm saying?

He don't have to be the main scorer or the main option on the floor for him to still be the alpha in that locker room or in that team. He still gets the alpha score. They all respect him to the highest regard. If he wants to take the technical free throw, guess who's taking the fucking.

Technical free throw? For sure. 1,000%.

You better believe they're stepping aside, bro.

I think Brown's smart enough.

He won't need to do that. He don't have to do that. But if he really wanted to, they're stepping aside.

That's part of that respect factor, too. Tyrese Maxey, big on recruiting Brown. That's a big bro. You know what I'm saying? But just even a willingness. Obviously, Jalen Brown got thrust in this situation. They didn't really have much say in what's going on, but just a willingness for all of them to look in that locker room and be like, hey, as long as we're winning and it's in the right direction, I think that was the conversation we might have had on this couch today had they gotten smacked. All right, honeymoon's over, but whose team is it?

A little adversity, you know, we'll figure it out, but they're still figuring it out, but they all respect each other and they respect him. And, you know, when it comes to leading, he's the alpha. Tyrese on the floor putting people in place, but Bron has definitely got an imprint on that team.

What have you seen from Bron these first two games? He's almost the same age as us. I just want to point that out.

You know, I think this is kind of how he wanted to play last year.

You think so?

Yeah.

This was a complaint last year.

When he first came back, that's why he started, like, all assists.

You mean like.

Yeah, he's trying, like, hey, you're still going to lead the team in scoring, but everybody else is... is losing because the ball is in your hand playing a slow methodical game. Everybody's just sitting and waiting. Let me start it. Let me try to.

Boom, boom, boom.

Then we give it to you last and you can finish your shot. Right? So this, that's why he just did a lot of standing around, like doing one of these, like no one was.

Catching it, but you know what I mean? But he, that's not Lucas, Luca first quarter. I'm trying to go for 13 or 15. But you can still go for 13, but I'm not giving up the run. I have to.

This is a different pace. Tyrese, he can still do that if he kicked the ball because it's going to come back to him.

It's coming back anyway.

If Brown don't get a layup, guess what? End of clock, guess who's getting the ball.

But Lucas sprinting down court versus Tyrese Maxey sprinting down court.

Yeah, that's why he should be kicking ahead and then giving them a chance to go shoot. And if they don't, all right, I'm still here. I can still get my 12, 13 in the first quarter. I think he let the league score in the first quarter points.

Luka know what he's doing, though.

But again, this is how his game is. He's normally ball dominant, knows how to control the game tempo, play at his pace.

And when you look at this squad, obviously fast break, Danny, like you mentioned, three of the top ten fast break scorers from last season on this team. But once postseason comes in, obviously.

That's a far, far, far way.

And that game slows down. Are we going to see more of what we saw in that first half against the Cavs?

But by that time, they're going to know each other. It's going to be– And it's probably game to game, but it's like Tyrese is the guy that's starting with the ball. And then if he don't got it going, then you'll see as 20, 25 games go by, it's probably going to be Jalen or Joel, depending on the night.

And I said I give Jalen a lot of credit because he's been starting off slow. He still ended up with 21, but he's not pressing early on. And he also got Bron involved game one against the Knicks. He's the reason why Bron got his six straight points on fast break. He's finding him in transition, throwing him a lob, doing a spin move, finding him. cutting down the lane, making sure he gets his rhythm and he's not, like, worried about scoring as much or, like, being the guy. But, yeah, we'll find that out. During playoff time, they're going to know who is who and what the pecking order is and they'll have a system in place and that's where, if they figure it out in the right direction, it's going to be dangerous for, it's going to get spooky

for other teams. But if they have some adversity and there's some ego problems and maybe some health issues happen where they're not in rhythm, then it could get sticky. Like, Like E.T.

Said. Someone's going to need to change.

A trade.

Are you saying that?

They're going to need a trade at that point?

Not them. Okay. Another team's going to need a trade. A lot of teams are going to need a trade. Did you see J.B. out there?

And you have to praise him because you don't see a lot of growth in players from year to year. And we're watching the moves he's doing.

And we're like.

He didn't do that last year.

You didn't have that last year. What you had last year, you didn't have that the year before. So watching him be more fluid and just movement itself, not just this rugged style, just going to try to push through you. He's really playing like natural scoring has been a part of his game this whole time. So when you're saying...

We're going to play some half-court offense. As a defensive team, you can't overload not one of these players. This is going to be one-on-one, mano-a-mano. And the problem with that is, On Boston, how many real defenders do you actually have that can just purely lock up their own player? Because this is not, I'm going to sit at the nail for you. There ain't no sitting.

On no nail, man.

You got people that's.

About to shoot.

Especially when you put in, I mean, I love Vijay Edgecombe's game, but obviously Brian.

So you're going to force Brian and Vijay to shoot. And Joel, if he's out in the program.

Well, not that.

Still, they can attack.

But Ant Simons, you put Ant Simons in there, like I said, he shot 42% from catch and shoot over the past few years, or even KCP. They're going to change the geometry of the floor even if Vijay Eshkome isn't going so well. He's been playing a dunker, and sometimes that gets in the way along with playing with Joel Embiid. He's trying to slide from dunker to dunker, and Joel Embiid is in the middle of the paint, and sometimes it gets congested.

But no, I'm with you. It's going to be hard to shift off those guys because not only– they have the shot because they're capable of knocking down a three. But when you're catching it on a closeout, you're shifting to Tyrese and you're catching a closeout on Jalen. That's the hardest defensive thing you can... In offense, the easiest way to attack somebody. Are you closing out? I can attack a closeout. Jalen Brown is going to attack a closeout.

It's going to be hard to defend that. But again, it's all about how they figure it out and if the egos and everything stays in alignment throughout the year. How are they going to handle adversity? They haven't gotten that yet. They had one half of adversity.

Overcame it. I knew they would. Third option. Throwing up gang signs in the arena. Reeves, without either star, averaged 39. Goddamn.

Luka Reeves, no LeBron, he averaged 25.

LeBron, Luka Reeves, he averaged 20. What did Bron average? Third option. What did Bron average? Third option.

Bron didn't average a lot either, but I think it's more so handle the ball. Again, it's a game-to-game thing.

A corner with freedom.

No, I'm just kidding.

Yeah.

A corner with freedom.

Like I mentioned, this is the biggest comeback in LeBron's 24 seasons in the league. Bron played on some great teams in his career, but I want to get your guy's opinion. You saw a lot of those teams that he had during his time. Is this the best roster LeBron has had in his entire career? No. No. No. I mean, shoot.

I mean, if they're all in their prime, yes. If Bron was in his prime and Joel was in his prime, if they're all in their prime, then yes. But then Bron's 42 now. The Heat was good. The Heat was unbelievable.

He were good. And the Cavs, I mean. Your Lakers squad.

Our Lakers team was kind of OD, I'm not going to lie. Yeah, that was OD, yeah. You know, we had Dwight coming off the bench, Rondo.

AD. Kuz.

We had AC, Young, KCP, Avery Bradley didn't come to the bubble with us. We had DeMarcus for a hot second. We had Boogie. AD, JaVale, Dwight, all the bigs. Bron, Kuz, me, KCP, Avery Bradley.

The Heatles were elite. Those three, you know what I mean? The production those three had alone was probably 104.

This is the Avengers.

He thinks the USA team. I think they're very front-loaded.

They don't have... Like, LeBron and AD was them.

Like, you had the names of the other people, but it wasn't those guys.

At their prime.

At their prime.

But, again, I think it was a deeper team. Like, this team is, again, very front-loaded. 105 points from their starters. The bench, until Dean Wade comes back, who could help them?

Yeah.

Anthony Simons and KCP, they... They didn't score. The bench didn't score, but... But versus Nick's Anthony, he had like 14, though.

He had 12, 14. And when you talk about Maxie, JB, then you still have.

Their starting lineup, yes.

I mean, you still have Embiid, and just normally he averaged 24.

I mean, this is the most... It's just.

It's the best starting lineup.

Best starting lineup. That's what I feel like. Best starting lineup for sure, but... It's not even close. But Ant, KCP on the bench, but Little Slim... beyond that with that bench unit.

It's got to look like that first Miami year.

Which was... It was.

The reason they lost two was they were front loaded. Starting five, good. old as hell off the bench. Remember, because they paid them so much.

Money, they just had to sign.

They would just sign a whole bunch of vet mems that was making a million dollars. Like, you can't sub these niggas. You know, so that was the funny part about that team. But this team is, I mean, they're cool.

Most talented starting lineup, probably. I mean, I would say that pretty easily, but I think... I mean, again, Tyrese, I mean, he's never had a... except for Kai, but like, it was just him and Kai really... Had a point guard like that caliber of Tyrese. then a wing that's like D. Imagine if he had Kai with D. Wade and Chris Bosh.

Yeah.

And that's what it felt like. That's what Jalen Brown for me... Yeah, Jalen Brown, that's what it feels like. He has Kyrie and Jalen on the same team. And Embiid is still probably better than Bosh.

Yeah. More... Not more dominant than Bosh is... As he is right now. Yeah, for sure. I mean, it's just like 90 games in three seasons. We just got to make sure he shows up. Yeah. He's been there two straight games. I like that.

He's going to get to the free throw line. He's going to get you 20 by accident. They got their first back-to-back, though, this weekend.

That's when they're going to– that's when Philly is going to be dangerous. A lot of teams are going to complain about free throws because– They haven't seen it yet because these guys are just playing.

They're playing well right now. But once Jalen gets the free-throw.

Line, Tyrese, Joel.

Like, if I'm LeBron, if I'm LeBron, I'm going to get all my points once we get into the penalty. Embiid, Maxie, you know, Maxie Speed is going to get him a couple, you know. Then Embiid is going to force his way to get a couple. Then from there, all LeBron has to do is just lower his head.

All contact.

Foul.

Shoot some free throws.

There's going to be some times where they shoot 50. 50 fucking free throws.

Well, 2-0. It's a.

Good start.

80 more to go.

It's a good start.

They look good. Thank you, guys. Hey, what did I say they were going to start off with? Oh, in their first 10? I forgot what you said. I think you were ahead. Like 8-2. Oh, did you say that? Were you being positive? Okay. Yeah.

First 10, you thought? Positivity is key.

7-3.

I think 8-2, 7-3 is good. But they had them losing these two. Remember, somebody's like, 0-6.

What's the rest of the schedule?

So, next few games, they've got the Bucs at home Saturday, then the Pistons at home Sunday. So, first back-to-back. Pacers. And Indy Wednesday. Next Friday, they got the Knicks at the crib. And then Saturday, they have the Hornets. But then they got the Bulls, so that should be easy.

Knicks in Detroit. Especially on a back-to-back. One of them is going to rest the front end or the back end of that. I would rest the front end. Nick's at home Sunday. Bucks and Nick's are both home games.

11-0.

But it's Bucks-Detroit back-to-back. I would rest the Bucks game if you want to win those games.

Which one?

Bucks is the front end of the back-to-back. I would rest the guys that.

Which one? I'd say one of Embiid or LeBron. I'd run both.

You got Jalen Brown and Tyrese Maxey.

No, no, no. You're saying something that I've always said. Remember what team we played for? San Antonio. So, this is the conversations you have.

When you're load managing. It's not the players talking about this. It's the coaches that they talk about, okay, this is what we have. Okay, we're going to sit him here, and then we're going to rest him, see if we can get that win.

Like, that's... I mean, Bron is still getting rhythm, so I would probably... It's early in the season.

Yeah, I just want to see them get a rhythm and get to learning each other. You're going to sit Embiid versus Detroit or... Milwaukee. Milwaukee. Milwaukee.

And then have them play the second game with Detroit.

And I can see Brown playing his first back-to-back because they don't play again until Wednesday after that.

And that might be the thing with both of them. Like, hey, both play because we don't have a back-to-back. We have some space. Or I might just say, I don't like rest with Embiid.

At all.

Like, I'm sorry because it's just the body itself. You rest in your body, you lose momentum, you lose strength, you lose all of that.

Right?

So the more rest he gets, the harder it is for him to come back.

Right?

So I really like if it's just sore and swollen, cool. But just resting and just, hey, we're just going to.

Yeah. You'd rather have him for during in the pistol, though, obviously, then.

No, but that's not how teams look. Teams look at it like, okay, if we're going to play him against this team and get this win. We're going to automatically get that.

They're looking at it because, like, longevity of the season is like, all right, we can put some money in the bank here by allowing him to sit this game where he'll be fresher.

That's what I'm saying. Have him sit the Bucs game. But sometimes it all depends on the player, right? Okay, they do a lot of pick and roll, and B's going to do a lot of moving against Detroit. I'll sit him against Detroit. We dominate. We get the guaranteed win.

The 3-0 win. Okay. And then do our best.

But they have a luxury. They have the luxury of wrestling guys. Like Marlo says, good problem. Good problem to have. All right, it's time to try and finesse some bread on Polymarket.

Put that on something. We're going to give you a trade on the Polymarket app. You got to pick a side and put that on something. So, big night in L.A. Battle for Los Angeles continues tonight as the Lakers and the ownerless Clippers meet for the first time this season. in the arena formerly known as Staples Center. So let's take a look at the projection for the Lakers. Heavy favorites in this game. 77% of traders picking snow time to get the win.

Rightfully so.

With just 24% of traders rolling with L.A. 's other team, also known as the Clippers. Did get a win over the Kings. I don't know if that means anything. Did it for Steve Ballmer. But Daniel, let's start with you. Obviously, I know you are currently employed by the Lakers. We have to point that out. But you are an honest man.

I give an unbiased opinion. You know, you always keep it real. Who's winning, Clippers or Lakers? I'm going Lakers. I don't think it's... What was it, 77?

77 to 24. 77% of traders picking the Lakers. Luka Doncic, Snowtime, Walker Kessler. You ain't got to say our players, man.

I don't think it's that drastic of a... But I think Lakers will win. Again, they... They have more pieces, more depth. Clippers are still in disarray since the whole thing went down. Trying to find an identity. Darius had a good first night. Will he do that again against Lakers?

Maybe.

They have some wing defenders that can make it a little bit troublesome. Game to game, I think they're going to change their lineups. They started Matisse game one. Quinn Grimes might start some games. They started Zaire. I think they're going to rotate those guys. depending on matchups. Matisse will probably start because they'll probably have him guarding Darius in this game. Clippers don't really have... Rui's are solid.

They don't have a bunch of other... Well, Brandon Ingram being out. The only thing I'll say is Rui might have a chip on his shoulder.

Maybe. Japanese order.

Even with his.

Okay, I'll give him that.

Even with his revenge night, he ain't winning by himself.

Why? Why'd he have a revenge? Didn't he get paid?

But the Lakers didn't want to After everything he did in the postseason? They could have paid him.

They could have brought him back. Putting the team on his back with LeBron to get a playoff series win? You thought he put the team on his back? Really? He said that? No, I'm saying that. I'm saying that. He was killing. Did you not watch that first round?

Yeah, I appreciate it.

Marcus Smart was killing too. Whoa. Marcus Smart was not killing the first round? All right. What would I know?

I know.

I appreciate it. They had moments. And he was killing us in the second round. And that's the game. That's why you love smart.

Yeah. So that's why you love smart. Nah. Rui had some good postseason outputs. But, yeah, he could have a revenge night. They still ain't winning.

Catching bullets with his teeth. All right. Let's move over to the next one.

Yeah, no, I got the Lakers for sure. I don't think it would be a. close game, a watchable game. I think, you know, early.

It won't be watchable.

No, I'm just saying, I think it'll be watchable because Luka's going to go crazy. I think, you know, it's going to be a good groove for him. I'm looking forward to that. And also just seeing how Walker Kessler continues to fit into the offense and, you know, what that could be.

I think he's going to lead the league in percentage probably.

Yeah. 12 for 12.

You got Austin and Luka. He's probably going to shoot 80% from the 70, 80% from the field. Like, you know, DeAndre Jordan, he's where everything's all dunks and live.

He can catch the ball, too. That's why I was really impressed by him. He has good hands. He has good coordination. No looks.

He's got touch. He's smart. He knows his game. He ain't stepping outside of his game.

And he also knows his spacing, too. I think last year, Luka, when he had DeAndre Aydin, he would do the random flashes to the middle. I think Luka hated that. Walker Kessler. He's either throwing a lot.

He knows himself. He's not trying to be like, oh, I need the ball. He's like, nah, I'm cool. I can get 20 and 10 on dunks and layups.

And three blocks. You know what I mean?

That was crazy because last year, all he had to do was dive to dunk. And he wanted to pop to shoot. Then you watch him in Washington, his ass jumping and dunking. Like, ah, damn. That's when we ask you to just pick a roll and go jump.

Yeah, he see the writing on the wall. He like, shit, they done playing with my ass now.

Back up now.

I ain't no Clint Capella. Play Clint Capella on that, man.

Yes, you are.

When you're 14, you're like, I'll be whatever, coach.

Yeah, I get it. Or in D.C., sir.

I mean.

With the year they're having, if they stay winning games, Walker Kessler could be like a fringe all-star this year.

Yeah. I feel like Luka can make him all-star. I'm just saying.

You can.

And you add in just what he does defensively. He's very good defensively in the pick and roll and just anchoring the interior.

Like you guys said, he knows his role. They're going to be a regular season team.

Hmm?

Yo, you had a Walker Kessler jersey on. Yeah, you covered for the four. No, no, no. You know what it is? I think you bait me too much. I'm not baiting. I'm actually a reporter.

You know I don't like that fake All-Star shit.

You know I don't.

Oh, the fringe All-Star?

Yeah, I don't like that.

So you don't like All-Stars because the team won? Yeah, no.

I like that. That's how I would act.

I get it, but it's like, you know, like, oh, they had three All-Stars.

No, the fuck they did. Like the Hawks, they have four All-Stars.

Yeah, they got one All-Star. He's helping win, and then they get the other one. You know what I mean? If you didn't make this shit in your years, and then you come here, and I'm sitting here giving you these easy shits, and you make one.

It ain't you.

Okay, give me that goddamn ring. And the autograph balls. I get two of them shits. Give it up.

Luka's already getting it. I'm just saying, Walker Kessler and that Luka pairing, Luka don't like to pass unless he has to, but I'll throw that lob at the rim for a guaranteed assist. I know, I know. I don't like the variable about I want to see the jumper goes in or not.

I mean, they're going to be double. You have to double Luka, right? So with that pick and roll, you can't just let him go.

So good. Lakers are just to confirm. 100%.

Like I'm confused at the 24% must be just real look Clipper fans because there's nobody that has any type of value Just like like in the money that's great money like why are you just throwing your money away? Just show 100 Like, why are you going against the grain?

You don't need to just throw your money away like that. Unconfirmed reports that 24% off Steve Ballmer. It has to be. He's trying to get.

He's hoping for a miracle.

Off his burner. Can't contact the chain. Just on an aside, Ty Lue in the postgame interview asked me if he talked to Ballmer. He's not allowed to. Oh, yeah, right. You think Ballmer's not hitting Ty Lue?

They're definitely conversing.

Sign language.

Because he's suspended and so is Frank, right? They're all supposed to be suspended. But they're... There's definitely some community.

But how do you enforce that?

I don't even know the league that well for me not to talk to my boss. Like, I would be talking to Balmer all the time.

How are they monitoring?

That's all good. It's 2026. You can figure out a way. Yeah. You think that man who makes, what, 19? He has $ 19 billion. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Nope.

I got $ 19 billion, and you really think I'm talking to these motherfuckers and I don't have to?

No.

I'm gone. I'm on the island somewhere, chilling, man, trying to figure out what other team I'm going to buy or whoever I'm going to pay under the table. This time.

You learned our lesson last time.

I'm not talking about no day-to-day with that sorry-ass team. I'm trying to figure out how do I finesse. Right. How do I, you know, I'm over here looking at Brooklyn. Hey, man, I see you need a loan. You need some investors. Well, listen, I'm going to just be honest. Don't give me 19 billion. He's got like a hundred some billion. I don't get what?

Don't give me a hundred billion dollars.

And I own a team.

You're throwing that little $ 24 million.

What I'm saying is, the other 29 teams, I'm owning those two on the low. Because at the end of the day, y'all need funding, right? You need funding. You don't want to have to go, I got you, baby. Yeah, I got you. I'm going to give you $ 5 million or $ 5 billion. When I need you playing, just go on and throw them over here for.

The low, low.

That's all I'm doing.

Yeah, hey, hello. Hey, Spurs, you remember that Wimby kid? You got that Wimby over there?

He's looking like he's ready for championship.

Trade now. That's all I'm doing. Got to call them favors in. Well, I'll be crooked as a mother.

I'm just telling you.

That was put that on something.

Yeah.

Polymarket, the most accurate sports odds and forecasts in the world. All right, well, let's shift over to the Western Conference if we can. Thunder followed up their season opening win over the Western Conference champion Spurs with another big Western Conference matchup as Jokic and the Nuggets pulled up to OKC for the Nuggets season opener. The back-to-back MVP against the three-time MVP and back-to-back runner-up in Nikola Jokic. Nuggets were the top offensive team in the league last season, but the Thunder were the league's best defense. OKC got

the best of Denver in this one as SGA willingly ended his NBA record 20-point scoring streak to show respect for the game. Let's take a look at the highlights. If we can, please, Paolo. Appreciate you, as always. Early on, it looked like Nuggets might spoil Oklahoma City's home and opener. Aaron Gordon came out firing while Denver's defense... Kept the Thunder completely out of rhythm. SGA struggled to find his shot.

He missed all seven of his first half field goal attempts. Just the fourth time in 450 games with the Thunder, he's gone without a field goal in a half. But that's how these things go.

AG's the only person that looked good for him yesterday, honestly. Yeah, that's a fair assessment.

He is. Joker did not. We see him. Mara. Everyone's favorite Spaniard. I'm Mara. Former UCLA Bruin. Yeah, he's going to be nice. That went to Michigan. But looking good. One of the few bright spots for Jokic in that game.

Yeah, it was a struggle game for both.

Him all in, Joker. So like I said, Nuggets looked very solid. Okay, Chet. Oh, shit. Chet Holliday. Chet, out here doing it. Nuggets looked solid in the first half. Thunder bounced back, heading into the break. OKC got back on the right track in the second half. Jalen Williams led the Thunder with 21 points on 7-15 shooting. While Holmgren dominated defensively, he had 12 points, 17 boards, and four blocks. Meanwhile, Denver Stars both got locked up by OKC's defense. Jokic on the break. Jokic finished with 13 points on five for 19 shooting. Jamal Murray skirted for six points on two for 11 shooting. He tried to bring it back. But it gets better right here. Jamal Murray also had six turnovers in the game. Aaron Gordon,

like we said, one of the lone bright spots. He led Denver with 20 points. Nuggets managed just 36 points in the second half. Thunder outscored the Nuggets 26-16 in the third quarter, took a six-point lead into the final frame. Thunder forced 13 second-half turnovers, turning those mistakes into 19 points to take control of the game. Damn, Jamal. Yeah, so SGA was in struggle mode in this one. Tried to catch fire a little bit in that fourth quarter.

SGA had 10 points. and looked on the verge of keeping his 20-point scoring streak intact with plays like this.

And you got the 17.

He did have 17, Danny. And then he made a faithful decision. Yeah, at that point, game was over. That some may disagree with. After the Nuggets emptied their bench with a little under two minutes remaining, Shea decided to sub himself out. Mark Dagnall said he was going to keep him in the game, let him continue history. Shea said, no, thank you, sir. He finished with 17 points. Like I said, ending his NBA record streak of 141 straight games with 20.

After the game, SGA had this to say about his record 20-point streak ending.

I was going to go out there. I saw that they had subbed, so I was just like, we should sub too. Just like, I feel like you always treat the game with respect.

Yeah, so.

And God willing, I have many more games to start another streak. So it's like, you know, it's not the end of the world. Not the end of the world. Last time SGA scored less than 20 points in a regular season game was almost two years ago.

Yeah, October 30th.

2024. I mean, yeah, man. It's a historic 141 game streak with 20 or more points.

15 more than.

The previous record holder, Will Chamberlain. Danny, we'll start with you. Do you respect SGA for subbing himself out of the game and ending his 20-point scoring streak? Absolutely.

Absolutely, man. It's the right thing to do. Again, he's got a lot more basketball to play. It's not the most important stat. He already beat Wilt. Like, who's going to catch him? I don't see anybody catching him. He's got the record already. So what difference does it make to keep going to make sure nobody else is going to catch you out of reach?

Never.

I'm pretty sure. I'm going to say it's out of reach, but not many people. Last person was Wilt. How long ago was that?

A long, long time ago.

Yeah, so I think he's safe. That record, he's going to be in the record book for a good 50 years or so. Because the hardest part is staying healthy. And also not having a bad night, because you've seen the superstars have bad nights in the under 20.

All right, MLS Shift, over to you. What are your thoughts on SGA subbing himself out of the game, a little under two minutes remaining, three points away from keeping that streak going?

Yeah, no, it was honorable. I think he said everything that was right on point. And then also, too, it's only like a minute and 39 seconds left. When you struggle, man, you look crazy trying to gun and go get that.

Three points, man.

So there was no guarantee it was going to occur and play it out how it was supposed to. And like Jalen Williams said, that's going to be a hard record to break. I mean, SGA was the first guard in history to shoot 55% from the field.

During two MVP runs.

You got to be ball now in control to keep up with a stat like that. So if somebody beats it, it is what it is. Curious about your opinion on this situation. A little under two minutes remaining. Game's still close enough.

You know his answer.

Game's still close enough. But SGA saw the Nuggets. David Alderman waved the white child, take their subs out, said, I'm going to do the honorable thing. I'm going to end my 20-point scoring streak on my terms. Are you rolling with that, though, is the question. Me personally? Hell no.

Like, now all the basketball I done played to get to this point, and I just need, what, three more points, we're winning, and.

I have how much? A minute left? A minute and, like, 38 seconds.

Oh, yeah, I got about.

Six, seven more shots. No, no, we're going to get this.

Like, I don't care about y'all feeling smitten.

Right, because you said 50 years.

Everybody said, no, I want to stay in for time.

I'm like LeBron.

I'm putting that number up so high it.

Don't even matter no more. I don't want to catch a ball.

This is like.

Up 29 in the game.

There might be somebody that could possibly do it by the name of Wimby.

So, I'm just going to be like, you know what?

Let me just go ahead and throw this motherfucker up here a little bit more.

Okay? I'm not playing them games.

This is why I didn't win. This is why I didn't.

Okay? You're a winner in life. This is why I didn't win.

I'm like this, man. If I need five more dollars to get to a million dollars, God damn it, and I can't make it, I'm taking it.

So, I can say I'm a millionaire. I even bought a $ 5 real quick. So, I'm going to get my three points.

But, hey.

He's a class act.

I'm not classy. I'm not classy. I'm going to have my record. I'm going to keep going. See you tomorrow.

Wimby ain't breaking that, though.

He's the only one who can because it's an easier game for him.

I can stand under the basket. What I'm saying is I.

Can stand under the basket. Ejection or injury, like halfway through the game, concussion protocol. He always has those games randomly where he's got to sit out the second half.

You ain't lying.

You a goofy motherfucker if you sitting here just leaving the game because my head hurt. You're not lying, bro. It ain't his choice.

It ain't his choice. You think Ant-Man could do it? everybody's capable. Again, he has knees swelled up. Like, there's always something that happens. That's why Wilt's the only... Mike could've... Mike should've did it.

Yeah.

Kobe could've did it.

You know, Braun.

None of them did it.

Yeah, you ain't thinking about it when it's like... Yeah, when you don't know... You don't know about this. Yeah, yeah.

True.

You don't know about this until you, like, are within 20, I guess. Yeah.

So it's not like you're chasing.

Some phantom thing that you don't even know exists.

Yeah, that's true. You know what I mean?

But, so.

Hey, you know that's why he's a back-to-back MVP. That's why the media loves him. They do not. Because you do.

Things like that because they're going to always say, but what if he got hurt? Don't hit me with the what if.

What if he didn't?

I just thought he was cold, bro. you could have been forcing it the next six, seven shots. That would have looked crazy. Don't you think?

Like, we would have talked about it in the morning.

It would have looked really bad if he went out there and tried to get it and still didn't get it.

Yeah, if he didn't get it, still, yeah. But, you know what I mean? Like, if I'm taking six shots, I'm getting that shit. You can talk about it, but this shit still continues. Do you think that played at all in the back of his mind? I don't think he has a very favorable relationship with the media at this point. Like, a lot of negativity around his name.

It's not bad, though. It's not Steph Curry, but it's not bad.

It's... It's not him personally.

It's just the game. It's disrespectful for a back-to-back MVP, in my opinion.

How they report on him, yes.

As a merchant and all that.

Like you said, 55% of the field, only guard to average 30 with 55%, and all we hear about is, oh, he's a foul baiter.

Yeah, but I think what Kyrie said, like right now the game is so media-based, and when you sit there, a lot of people make a narrative that doesn't really matter.

You know what I'm saying?

So I don't think he really– he seems pretty strong in who he is. I don't think he really cares in that sense. You know, he's really actually a killer. And then when you break it down, he knows a lot of people can't guard him. And seeing from game one in San Antonio, he went straight to work.

Yeah, like when you say respect the game, he looks at it at his purest, right? Y'all are subbing y'all people out. So y'all gave up. Okay, y'all gave up.

Hey, you're subbing me.

I don't like the other way around where we're up 10. your starters are still scoring. So when I go to score, your starters get me.

I feel you.

Like, that's the one where.

That's real. You know what I mean?

Like, if you're going to... Like, you quit first, and then we can go.

Yeah.

But, you know, if your guy's still trying to win the game.

Yeah.

Or get their points.

You know, or get their points, and I didn't shut this nigga down, and he's still trying to get his points, I'm going to get my points.

Yeah. And it's not going to be that one way. So, you know.

What was your question, Joe? You had a question?

I don't remember. Oh, okay. I don't know. I ask a lot of questions.

It was like, is it something about him? Does he take it wrong?

For him, from a media standpoint, as much as he's gotten hated on these past couple seasons, if you're in the media right now and you're seeing a dude who didn't stay in the game, didn't force it to get that streak going, ended on his terms at 17 points. Now, if he's at 12, 14, whatever it may be, that's just one more bucket.

You think that's in the back of his mind, like thinking about it?

Possibly.

I think all those things came. I think also it was like, I've got the record. and I'm overwhelmed by a good amount of games, but if I stay in here, the media is probably going to give him another excuse to talk shit about me.

And I don't think he cares so much about that, but just saying.

Maybe not so much, but more with respect to the game.

At 17 points, I think that's close enough, Gil, to let me just get 30 more seconds in here. One more three and let's leave it at that.

If he went to the free line, he could have drawn 2,000.

It was still a close enough game.

But the thing is, it's just like history. All history was exactly this moment. The game is over. You're supposed to sub out. You stay in to either break somebody's record or to continue yours. It's always been like that. If you look at the 100-pointer, if you look.

At who's second, that's Bam.

All of them, it's the same thing.

I'm staying to get this 83. Steals, rebounds, all of it.

I think the difference with SGA, he's in the hall already. You know what I mean? When he's speaking, it's just like, man, I'm about to maybe win another championship, already won a championship, two-time MVP.

Like, do I really.

Do you really care? Like, I'm SGA. Like, I think, you know what I mean? I fit 25,000. Like, you know what I'm saying?

I think that's why we're against history, and that's why you have to respect LeBron for still playing.

Okay.

Because.

We've seen Michael Jordan. We heard about Michael Jordan.

We know if he didn't retire, they'd have won seven, eight more championships, right? We know if he didn't retire, he will have maybe 40,000 points, right? But because you didn't care at that moment in time because you was already God.

You know what I mean?

Like you are already me. So there's nothing to even worry about because obviously you can't see 20 years down the line. You don't know who's coming. Most of these records, we're not thinking about it. We're thinking about what we're beating now. No one's thinking about who's coming behind.

So LeBron is like.

Yeah, I got the record over him.

I caught it.

And this is going to be 24 years.

I don't know what's coming.

These motherfuckers might play 30 years for.

All we know. You know what I mean?

So I'm going to just, as long as I can play, I'm just going to keep adding on it. to make sure I, you know, my kids' kids know I'm up here.

He's probably going to play another year. We'll see.

Two more.

You think he'll play two more?

Yeah.

I just don't, I don't know. It doesn't feel like a farewell year, so I think.

He can play one more. I think he has two to three more. When he put that Cleveland jersey, that's the last one.

Two more years?

Yeah.

He put that Cleveland. He's still balling, bro. I'm just being real. The way this is, the way he's playing right now, the way he looks out there, He kind of, not to say he gets the coast this season, but he don't have as much demand.

Man, when that shit's done, that shit's done. We all finished the season and was.

Like, message!

Like, you know, season starts back up.

He'd be like, you know what?

I still got about one more in me.

And you never get to get that one more. Yeah. Right?

So when it's over, it's over. So if you can go out there and keep going.

That's the hardest thing for him is the offseason. Like, mentally, be like, all right, let me get my body ready to do this shit again. When he could just be golfing and kicking it. Like, he about to be a grandfather at some point soon.

Strap up.

Not saying like, not saying Bronny's pregnant or anything, but like, Bronny's old enough to have kids. Like, you could be kicking it with Bronny and see watching him poop.

Or wait for Bryce. Double strong arm, but... Or snip them both. Don't get that money away. Black gold, Gil, black gold. But, uh, Biggest takeaways from the Thunders win over the Nuggets besides the SGA 20-point scoring streak. Got the big win over the Spurs. Dominated Jokic on the defensive side.

The defense on Jamal and Jokic. And maybe they just had an off night, but Jokic usually always kills, especially with his first, second game, first game out. I mean, a lot of stars have struggled their first game out this time, this year. But, you know, you got to give credit to what Chet was doing out there Yeah.

I mean, Maher didn't play a lot of minutes, but he ain't scared. But defensively, they're all over the place, man. OKC, again, I said first game looked like they're going to win 70. They had not a great night and they still beat Denver pretty handily and held them to 84 points.

You're talking about a squad that went 24-1 last season without Jalen Williams. Now they got Jalen Williams back with a chip on his shoulder as well. SGA with a chip on his after losing in game seven to the Spurs.

Probably going to get 70 games this year.

You did say that on this very couch.

Like you said, with Jamal Murray, I think that Cason Wallace showed up.

He balled out.

He was able to stop Jamal Murray along with Alex Caruso, A.J., Mitchell. I think when you just compare that to what they have to go up against coming into playoffs or even just going up the road, which we all think about San Antonio Spurs, you scream about that three-guard lineup. They have enough defensive stoppers and guys on perimeter to make them very uncomfortable. Jamal Murray just came off his best season last year, and that two-man game between Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic is usually unstoppable, and they kind of just tamed it, and they made them play east to west as opposed to north to south.

And it just looked good.

And Case and Wallace, like I said, anytime you get four steals, get a couple assists, but then also shoot 50% from the three, that's a beautiful matchup.

And that's an.

Upgrade from, no disrespect to Lou Dort, but that's the consistency of it.

And then A.J. Mitchell, you seen.

Yesterday, they were able to switch one through four because he's able to guard a four man. And they just looked dangerous, bro.

They had some additions by subtraction, kind of like what the Clippers said they did when They let PG go and Norm got able to do more. Like letting Lou Dort go, Isaiah Joe go to Detroit, which they needed him. It allowed guys like K. Smalls, Jared McCain, you know, have a more increased role.

A.J.

Mitchell, like those minutes, they get more minutes and have an increased role, which I think it makes them more efficient.

And even grabbing Mara in the draft, too.

Yeah.

He's not playing much, but it's impactful when he's on the floor.

Mm-hmm.

And I want to say he should have Chet nervous, but this team down the road in the next couple of seasons will be pushing up against that second apron.

But you think, I mean, not so much having Chet nervous, but like the other bigs throughout the conference, you see them after a week.

It's a problem.

You saw what Mar was doing yesterday, you know, when he blocked the shots and everything like that. I feel as though that front line is going to be very tough, you know, mostly targeting the big fella, you know, Jokic, but then also Wimby. You take those two guys out, it's an easy week.

Mm-hmm.

I wish Brendan was here. You remember he was trying to land that plane yesterday with that hypothetical?

What was his hypothetical?

Because I said OKC's problem that they don't see because they keep doing it is.

When they do the four guards and one big. And if they ever look at the.

Game, that is actually when they lose leads.

Or someone spreads.

They play into the opponent.

Because their guards, McCain, Caruso, SGA, J-Dub, maybe.

A.J. Mitchell.

A.J.

Mitchell.

They're small. They're smaller guards who can't jump.

Right?

So I said, they usually get offense, you know, they give up a lot of offense rebounds and putbacks and shit like that. And he said the scenario of what they would do or they could do, like that's actually a real thing. The real thing is what they're doing. Did you see the game yesterday? There was a spread that happened, right, where OKC was taken off. Look at the lineup they got in. But because Jokic and Aaron Gordon is still in the game. So because Aaron Gordon is big, it kind of forced OKC to just go double big again.

Play big, big.

Your big-big is very, very good. I do not know why they don't like playing them together. Like, it's hard to score in.

Your double big-big. Right?

It seems like you get so small, and maybe it's because SGA spacing. Because when I was with Washington, we had double big. It was hard to get in the lane because both of them couldn't shoot. So having four guards kind of just opens up the floor. So I understand offensively why you do it. That's when you need SGA to get going.

Yeah, but when you get above like 10 points. Plus points.

Is that when you say, now go double big and just make sure you stretch the floor?

Check and stretch the floor so you can do it more often.

But not enough. You only shoot six times a night. Yeah, that's what I said.

It's not enough to do it, but it's like they always put that lineup in, and I'm just looking, and I'm like.

Someone back in.

The other teams, four and three, are just way more athletic.

Right?

Then you're Caruso and Justice. It was like, I was just watching that yesterday. Like, come on now. You guys can wipe everybody out. I have three bigs that can play.

They're smart. They can play. They rebound. They defend.

I'm playing a three big rotation all the time.

And you really do that versus San Antonio? That's the only reason.

That's the best time to do it.

You know why? I will go triple big on them. I remember you talking about that. The reason I would go triple.

Big is because your dominance is your guards.

Yeah.

So because your dominance is your guards, you want to go guard for guards for me to go for guards because you have the advantage.

Right?

Offensively, your guards are more dominant individually than mine. So you want me to play to your style. I want Castle to have to guard Chet or, come on, I'm going to play that game. We're just going to be big. Y'all can't shoot like that. So we're just going to sit in the paint. We're just going to sit in the paint, and we're just going to clog it up, and then there we're just going to go high-low.

Let's just win beat. Come on out here on Chet. Okay, there we go.

Throw it down there. Now run down there to go try to block that.

Hey, throw it back.

Like, that's what I would do with them. I would make them put a lineup in that they– Don't happen.

They don't want to do it. Because they don't want to go big, big. They don't want to go big, big. Jalen Williams is hooping, too. I thought the Knicks were a bad matchup for San Antonio because they did big, big in the cup game with Mitch and Cat.

And Wemby struggled with that.

So that's why, like I said, for him to deal with two seven-footers is a lot. So that's why I would do it. But also, you know, the guard play. Even what's the name? So even New York's team, and that's when it was losing league with New York. If you think about New York, you got Cat seven foot. OG is bigger than their four, right?

So that's, he's big. He's a bigger four. Mikel is bigger than your three. So you're off there. It's just, I just look at the lineup and I'm like, like, I know I want, but I get it.

It's for SGA.

But Big Bigs, I think, is a good lineup for a certain matchup, especially Wemby and Jokic. Because I feel like that's where those two guys have shown to struggle. Minnesota, Jokic, when he was playing Cat and Rudy Gobert, that's when Minnesota kind of got Denver up out of there. And that's when he showed that he struggled with them.

Because one's playing in front and one's playing behind.

Yeah.

And they're able to not allow him to just throw that lob to Aaron Gordon. They can play both. They can play him behind and still get back to Aaron Gordon, who's not just going to dunk on the 7-footer.

You gave a Wimby take the other day about what he needs to do offensively. And people who previously hated you were actually supportive of that take.

Not catching the ball.

Not catching the ball.

You should ask them why they hate me. It'd be a real bad narrative that they.

Maybe it's the classless. It's either a Kobe take that they didn't... Yeah, they said a lot of people don't like the Kobe takes.

But people out there with Kobe tats. Twitter's our most negative platform. We don't get a lot of love on Twitter. Everywhere else they rock us. I was feeling Kobe. I'm like, what? Somebody made that fake post about you saying Kobe's not in your top ten or something.

Yeah, because I said, if Kobe's not in your top ten, they took the knot off.
