Hi.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello to you and your skeletons.
Sorry, I have a sick kid who is trying to find the cold medicine. This always happens. She always gets sick around like when she's doing a show, either right around the end or right right after.
Well, Tech Week is always brutal for.
Yeah, yeah.
That happened to Felicity, too. You're all in close quarters. You're not getting enough sleep.
Right.
And then everybody gets sick.
She doesn't sleep well anyway.
So, yeah.
And then there was another, then there was a whole other conversation about getting a cat.
What?
From Zoe. Oh, God, that's right.
She wanted to keep the cat to live in her room.
It was fake. Right. It was a joke, but then it wasn't. And then the other day it came up again and it really wasn't. And I was like, I don't. know how to tell you know in any other language.
Right that's that's not fair to the cat either cats shouldn't have to live in one room she's like.
But it's a cat that's really good living in a room i said well how do you know have you interviewed the cat like right like no no the answer is have you.
Searched her room yet to see if there's a cat in the closet.
Maybe uh i have not but i feel that the dog would have.
Let me know isa would be all over that cat that's right You can't have the cat for several reasons.
That's the reason. That's the number one reason. I'm like, no.
The cat would not survive very long.
Right. Number two is I'm not a cat person.
Neither am I. No.
I said, welcome. Have your own place. Have your own cat. Yeah. Have three cats.
I don't.
Well, maybe not three cats.
That's that's a lot of cats. But cats are they're independent. You know, I do admire that. They're just like they don't give a you know what. And they just.
They're independent.
They're like, we don't want to socialize.
I need a little more emotional neediness for my animal.
That's what's great about dogs. They need you. They love you unconditionally. They get so excited when you come home. They haven't seen you in weeks.
My dog better not be laying out in a puddle in the rain.
I don't know where my dog is. She's not up here with me today. Oh, no.
She's fine. Well, that was alarming when it was Holly, but not so.
Much when it was Little.
Right. Yeah.
With Little, it's fine.
Right. If it's Little, I'm not concerned.
If it's Holly, she'd be stuck in a corner somewhere.
She'd be in a corner like, oh, no. Right. A dog. Like a broken sim. You know what I mean? Yeah, that's right.
No, Little is just, we had to put her on a diet. She has not lost any weight in the six months we've been trying to reduce her kibble. So now we're trying Just Food for Dogs, the healthy weight. Oh, yeah. One, because the vet said he, she thinks the kibble we're using was just too high calorie. So we want to figure the same amount, but just lower calorie, leaner stuff.
So we're trying the wet food, the Just Food for Dogs. She loves it, but it's a transition period. So it's going to be, it's going to take a minute. And for sure, she loves it.
She loves any food.
She loves anything.
Well, that's the, yeah, I took the dog to the vet and she's, uh, She's a little chonky. I know. She's a little chonky.
Well, the people at the dog park have been making comments. So I'm really sensitive.
Oh, fat shame at the dog park. When did this become acceptable? Oh, she's so chonky. It's 2026. I know. I'm like, she's healthy. She's fine. She's loved. She's big boned. I take it so personally. She's big boned. Like you said, it's muscle mass. She's gaining muscle mass.
Yeah, we're working on it. We exercise her. It's just her build. Yeah, she's big boned. You're right.
Thank you for making me.
Feel better about this.
Hey, all body types are fine. I mean, she's a little chubby. She gained a couple pounds. What, you're eating the past few months? Issa, yeah, yeah.
She's well loved.
And it's not even the holidays yet.
Oh, yeah, the holidays.
But you know what, though? With it being so hot and now rainy, like we had kind of both extremes.
In a week, right? Yeah.
She doesn't get her walks in. Yeah. I mean, so she, she's used to like three walks a day and when it gets cut down to, you know, two very short ones, it's just doesn't quite have the calorie burning effect.
Yeah. Yeah.
We're suffering. We're suffering here. And she needs to stop ordering Uber Eats. It's just, it's constant. French fries. It's all those carbs. You know what I mean? I'm like, dog, jeez.
All those carbs, man.
I know. I know. Yeah. Oh, hi, AB. Pre-show poppycock. Let's just say pre-show poppycock's a hit, but I'll save it.
Yeah, we have snacks to prove it. So that's great. I'm doing all sorts of adulting this week now that I'm back. I think I'm done traveling for the year. Yay. And I'm so happy.
Yeah, I think kind of me too.
It's fall. It's like I'm getting organized. I am like just catching up on life.
After our mutual decision of a no to get asked to do some one more thing.
At the end of the year, we were like, this is not happening. That was a terrible weekend.
Let's be good to ourselves.
I'm not traveling Thanksgiving weekend. So yeah, so I have my cataract surgery planned, which this cannot happen soon enough because I cannot see out of this eye. It's progressing really well. It's just blurry. It's not dark, but it's just it's so blurry. that if I just try to look out of my right eye, I can't read anything.
I can't see distance. Yeah, it's mad. It's mad.
I have my patch.
You said you would wear one in solidarity.
Halloween costume and medical device all rolled into one for you.
It's a great time to have a cataract.
That's what I'm saying, but no one will know. You know what I mean? You could just be like, I'm just rolling with a costume, you know, and I'm really committed to it that I'm wearing it night and day, even in my home alone.
I highly recommend getting cataract surgery during Halloween because, yeah, you fit right in. Nobody cares. I'm getting my trees trimmed tomorrow. I tell you, this is my adulting. I'm getting prepared for El Nino, which they say is going to be so bad this year. So we're trimming trees. We're doing the gutters on the roof. We're getting the roof checked, like everything, because I don't want to have any problems. property damage this year so yeah yeah i literally have a.
List of things that i'm that i'm needing one is sandbags yep one is like a protective thing over our pool pump that gets just inundated with leaves and.
Crap yeah um yeah you got to go down a few other.
Things a generator generator generator yeah like a couple other things i just uh it seems like it's gonna be a lot so i'm I'm prepared. But yeah, I also was adulting. I also have my trees trimmed in the front this morning. And I had a few other doctor's appointments.
Look at us.
You know, the maintenance crap.
Maintenance. The maintenance of life. It's not fun, but it feels good when it's done. You know, I'm proud of us for being proactive.
Look at us i got a mammogram coming up good for you.
Very important very important mammograms i need to schedule.
Mine it's october everybody so remember breast cancer awareness month indeed i'm so aware of my boobs that i'm actually getting one in in honor in celebration no i'm just kidding it was just time.
It's time might have to work out that one's at the end of the year so i need to schedule that um coming up yeah and yeah mammogram what else we can talk about.
Cataracts mammogram I really think we've covered the list I feel like I feel like we could probably we could probably do a.
Show we don't need to do any more poppycock as much as the fanaritos enjoy it and thank you fanaritos for the feedback that you love this poppycock because you know we never know if we're putting you to sleep or if you're enjoying it so if you want to hear about mammograms and cataracts tune in next week as well We're going to start the show. Welcome back to How Rude Tanneritos. I'm Andrea Barber.
And I'm Jodi Sweetin.
And today we're discussing Season 7, Episode 19, Love on the Rocks.
Oh, no.
It's rocky out there. It originally aired February 28th, 1994. And it goes a little something like this. DJ tells Becky that she's worried about her relationship with Steve. after Steve goes to a seminar in Los Angeles with his film class.
Oh, no. This came up. Not a seminar. You know what those things are.
I can't believe this episode came up so fast.
But that's right. Scott left the show. Left the show and to season seven. To go to Harvard in season eight.
And so, yeah, I just assumed that he'd be around for a lot longer. But, yeah, this is the big breakup. It made me sad.
Yeah.
It was directed by Tom Ricard. It was written by Ellen Giles. And we have three great guest stars this week. We have Brian Evans, who plays Keanu. His early credits include Beverly Hills 90210 and Book of Love. And after acting, his main career was as a crooner. He performed swing and jazz standards in the style of Frank Sinatra.
I can 100% see that.
He's got the voice. You know, he's got like that deep.
The voice, the mannerism. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It definitely is a good career fit for him. Next, we have Danny Scott as lottery host. He began acting as a child playing Hal on the Facts of Life in the 80s. He's also a magician, winning the Academy of Magical Arts Junior Achievement Award three years running. 84, 85, 86. Good for him. We don't see him. It's just his voice.
Got it.
It's through me.
Well, because he threw his voice because he's a magician. He threw. Yeah, yeah, yeah. yeah he was actually standing in the room but it sounded like he had recorded it somewhere else because it's so odd magician threw.
Me because yeah well yeah it threw me because a it wasn't brian kale doing the voiceover right what happened was brian kale sick brian.
Kale was like i this isn't is too much for me And then he gets a credit.
Like, we don't even credit sometimes people that are actually physically on the show in the flesh.
You never know. You never know who's going to be worthy of a credit and who isn't. It seems random. Or probably who went into the Wikipedia and edited themselves into it is really what it is. Maybe that's it.
It's like, I'm getting my credit, darn it.
Right. Or somebody else was like, you get no credit and just deleted them, you know? Beware of Wikipedia, people.
Right. And last, but definitely not least.
We have Suzanne. Probably most confusing.
We have Suzanne Somers playing Suzanne Somers.
Yeah. How cool that she was. Why was she on the show as Suzanne Somers when she's then in another show, not as Suzanne Somers in Lake and Hour? Did Step by Step, did they record at Warner Brothers too? They did the same thing with John, where he was John Stamos. Oh, yeah. Remember? Christy was saying where he was John Stamos, but yet in the. You know?
It's a weird, like, crossover. It's a weird universe. It goes with everything else. Yeah.
But anyway, sorry. Suzanne Somers! Suzanne Somers!
I was so excited to see her. Obviously best known as playing Chrissy Snow on Three's Company. I loved that show. We need to do a flight school about Three's Company. Yes. Let's make a note.
Oh, yeah. I bet there's so much of that that hasn't aged well. Wait, didn't we do that? Did we do Three's? No, we didn't do Three's Company.
No, we did.
I feel like I watched something recently.
We did Golden Girls.
It was something else. Because I feel like we talked about Larry's pants. The next door neighbor. Oh, really? His pants are a little tight. I saw outlines. You know what I mean?
I don't recall this, so I don't know what podcast you've been talking about Larry's tight pants on.
Maybe it was just The inner thoughts. Anyway, no, but we definitely have to do Three's Company.
Yeah, let's add this Jenny to the Larry in his tight pants and Three's Company. She's also best known as playing Carol Lambert on Step by Step. And she became a bestselling author and the face of the Thighmaster fitness craze.
And sadly, she.
Died in October 2023. Just one day before her 77th birthday from breast cancer. Speaking of mammograms, it ties all together. This is a full circle moment. People get your mammograms.
So we start with the teaser.
Michelle is playing Simon Says with the twins in the living room. She says, Simon says, you have ants in your pants. And the boys dance until Simon says, stop. Next, Michelle says, sit on the floor. And the boys sit. Michelle tells the boys to stand up. I never said Simon says the boys respond. Who's Simon?
He's bossy. Michelle replies.
You can only move when I say Simon says it's the rules. See, they just needed an explanation of the rules.
Yeah. And I mean, if anyone's bossy in this house.
Well, I know it's Michelle. Really? Honestly, Simon is tame compared to.
Yeah, exactly. I think Simon any day.
Jesse walks into the living room announcing ice cream time.
Get it while it's cold.
And Michelle runs into the kitchen. Let's go, Jesse tells the twins. And they reply, can't do it. It's the rules. Michelle fills Jesse in. They just learned how to play, Simon says. So Jesse tries again. Simon says, time for ice cream. The twins celebrate and run into the kitchen. Jesse is impressed. I got to remember that at bedtime.
All right.
Cute, sweet.
I like it. Cute, sweet. Literally, figuratively. Great.
Good teaser.
The boys are cute, too, now that they can sort of say a couple little words and stuff. It makes me miss that little toddler age.
It made me miss the toddler age, too. They're just so precocious and they're kind of getting it. You know, I mean, I know Adria or someone was offstage. They're getting it. Nobody knows what that means and we We can't really explain it.
It's an inside joke. We don't even really know what it means. We just know that it was Dave as one of our producers. And it's a thing that we say. He's getting it. It's a very like, oh, yes, he's got like fashion. Well, yes. So I don't know. Anyway, that's why I said that. Sorry, everyone, for interrupting.
We just came off like four days with Dave Coulier. And so it's like we regress.
And each other. We regress.
And then we just start saying like all of his weird things. things is yeah jody's left jody has left the building.
Did i offend you yeah yeah and i'm done no i had to get up and close the door but i figured like you were you were talking about us regressing and i figured.
Yeah well i was gonna do like some of day's voices but then i realized i can't like i really i really can't do any of his voices because.
It's not safe for work so in the.
We'll just move right on um next we're in the living room and next yeah Danny has a bottle of pledge and a dusting cloth, and he's cleaning up. And then he uses the pledge to clean the bottle of pledge. I love these details. Kimmy, DJ and Steve enter along with Kimmy's new boyfriend.
She greets Danny. Hey, teabag. See? We just did an interview. We just did an interview at 90s Con. For AARP, by the way.
That was my favorite interview.
And you were like, I'd call him teabag. They said, what was your favorite catchphrase?
And you said, pin a rose on your nose, which was a curveball. And then I said, hey, teabag. And you almost fell off the pink carpet.
Because of what had happened moments earlier about what you'd said on the carpet. Let's just say she was in I give zero Fs mode and literally said it on the carpet to the AARP. And I was like. These are your people. Those are my people. A-A-R-P. And then you said something about teabag, and I thought you were kidding.
And then we literally watched this episode, and I screamed, teabag! Oh, my God! I told you. I'm sure the neighbors were wondering what I was doing. Hey, teabag.
I like it. You know, it's affectionate.
Hey.
Hey, teabag.
I don't know how I got through that scene after you walked in and said that.
So Kimmy introduces her boyfriend as Keanu. And Keanu replies, actually, my name is John. Kimmy just likes calling me Keanu. And then he does this weird little clasp of his hand to his heart. And Bob mimics that. Steve starts talking about the movie they just watched while Kimmy and Keanu begin making out. I mean, it is the living room, right?
It's the international makeover.
It is. You have to do it. DJ isn't so sure about Steve's newfound interest in the symbolism and subtext of the film. And she says, Steve, We saw Ernest gets a bee bite. Kimmy is also confused. You two actually watched the movie? And DJ answers, Kimmy, a relationship isn't just making out, to which Kimmy laughs. Oh, you're serious, she realizes. And then she turns to Keanu. Let's get out of here before we become boring. Boring, DJ says, and Steve continues, that is so far off. They kiss very briefly and then move to the couch to watch TV.
I see no problems. That's not boring.
That's just, you know, you got to get to your show.
That's comfortable. It's comfortable.
Exactly. Steve tells her to forget about TV. He has something to talk about. He tells her he's going to a film seminar in Los Angeles next week. DJ reminds him that is her school vacation week and she thought they would spend it together.
He feels terrible. It feels bad.
It feels bad.
I feel bad. But his teacher picked him and only five other people to go.
And he says he has a critical eye. He thinks it's because he's the first guy in the class to yell, hey, focus, whenever she starts a film.
DJ agrees that he should go.
It's a great opportunity. And Steve gives her a hug. And you're the best. But DJ is visibly upset. We're just going to say all of our inside jokes and everyone's going to.
Be like, sorry.
Why do they say that?
It's because we were all together and we just can't help ourselves.
We joke about Scott saying, I feel bad. Because he says it all the time.
I feel bad. Scott always says I feel bad. All the time. Because Scott just feels bad about things.
He overthinks everything and he feels bad. Yes.
So that's that.
And then DJ's upset.
DJ was always upset.
So we said DJ's upset. DJ's upset.
Next in the kitchen.
It's breakfast time. Everyone is yawning. Dani asks why everyone is so tired. DJ says she would ask Nikki and Alex, but they are sleeping at the table.
I thought the Tanners had been drugged. I was like, what happened?
It was.
It was kind of ominous.
Nobody's doing their normal, like.
Buzzy chatty. Yeah, everyone's like, but I was like, oh, no.
Like, it's finally happened, right?
This could take a dark turn, right? Who will keep the city of San Francisco running without them? Right.
There's no one to run the radio station. There's no one to do Wake Up San Francisco. There's no one to run the Smash Club. Like, yeah, the city will fall apart.
All three locations in San Francisco are closed.
Jesse's looking for the newspaper, but he can't find it. He looked in all the usual places, the hedge under the car, Gibbler's coffee table. Then I don't feel.
Like Jesse's a newspaper reader. Yeah. Doesn't strike me as the newspaper kind. Yeah, you're right.
I don't know.
Danny.
Danny for sure is a newspaper reader. He's got to get the weather report so he can dress accordingly. But yeah, I think Jesse just wants to fold it up, like roll it up and put in his back pocket to look cool. That's my theory. There we go. There we go. Joey enters from upstairs, bright eyed and awake with a top of the morning to you. Where's my lucky charms?
Joey's having a manic episode. I was like, I was like, this is literally the entire family. Like they're these all people are depressed. He's having a manic episode. Like what is happening to this family? Finally, it took seven seasons.
Right. Yeah. Becky comes in the back door dressed in workout clothes and she says her car radio said it's five o'clock in the morning. Jesse says that can't be true. His watch says it's 8 a.m. At this, Joey chuckles, April fools. Jesse reminds him it's not even April yet. And Joey says he knows, but when he tries to catch them in April, they expect it. So for this brilliant prank, he changed every clock and watch in the house.
That takes dedication.
That's commitment. In a really strange way. Especially because, you know, yeah.
Joey needs another job, I think. He doesn't have a girlfriend. The show won't give him a girlfriend.
He needs another job.
He needs a hobby.
And did nobody notice the sun was in a different position? You know? I mean, I feel like at 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. A little different. Very different.
A little different. No, they were just.
The dancers were like, I'm up. I'm committed. Yeah, yeah.
Nope. Michelle knew it was too early. She didn't even have to go to the bathroom when she woke up.
Danny tells- And it was dark outside.
So that was also a hint.
Danny tells Joey to pack his bags. He's moving out. And Jesse and the family join the chorus.
Get out.
It's about time.
You know, it's season seven. It's like, yes, Joey's going to act like that.
Get out. It's right.
I mean, I love Joey and I love Dave, but they kind of have a point. Yeah, get out. Okay. Okay. Joey says, it was a joke.
Isn't anyone going to be a good sport?
And Stephanie responds, forget it, Gladstone. You're going down. Danny sees the bright side. Everyone can sleep a little bit longer now. Nikki and Alex perk up. They are awake now and ready for breakfast. Jesse tries to explain the mix up, but the boys are not up for more sleep.
It's like daylight savings for kids and animals.
That's exactly what it's like. Yeah, they just don't, they don't get it. They don't, they're not going to, they're not going to. They're not with the program. They parade upstairs with yes sleep, no sleep, yes sleep, no sleep. And Jesse threatens to put them in Joey's bed. Excellent idea. DJ is still in the kitchen after everyone leaves. And Becky asks why she can't go back to sleep. DJ says she's worried about her relationship. Kimmy and Keanu have to be pried apart with the jaws of life. But DJ and Steve aren't like that anymore. Becky explains that there are stages to relationships. The first stage is hot because it's new. DJ wonders, what is it like when it's not so new? Becky replies, then you have to
find out if you have the same interests. DJ responds that Becky and Jackie are still hot for each other.
I love Jackie. I love when Jackie comes out to play. I love him as a character. That should be their name, Jackie. I would love to see an episode between Stavros and Jackie. I'd love to see what the characters do with that. It fits, right?
It fits. Jackie. DJ responds that Jackie are still hot for each other even after being together forever. Becky replies with a playful tone. Well, that's one of our interests. They're a hot couple.
I mean, yeah, I think it's the living room. I'm starting to think there's something pumped in there. Some sort of an aphrodisiac sort of. It's something because people like we're in the make out room.
Even Kimmy now.
She's the largest room in the house.
Kimmy doesn't even live there.
She's already making out in that living room. Kimmy has no boundaries.
None. Next in the living room. Kimmy, Keanu and DJ are on the couch and Kimmy is trying to convince DJ to come to a party. But DJ doesn't want to miss a call from Steve tonight and would feel weird about going to a party by herself. Keanu reminds her that she won't be alone.
She'll be with them.
But DJ counters that they will be making out all night. Kimmy replies that DJ can be their spotter.
Thrilling.
DJ also declines the invitation to climb Eagle Mountain with them the next day because she's more of a mall dweller. Kimmy and Keanu leave. And we have a producer's note here. Eagle Mountain is a ghost town in the California desert in Riverside County. It's near Joshua Tree.
You know how I love a ghost town.
Yeah.
We should go. You know how I love a ghost town.
We should take a little field trip to Eagle Mountain.
Let's do it. But it is, that's about 500 miles away from San Francisco. Oh, okay.
So, yeah, the show.
It is not. Yeah, unless they took a very, very long day trip. It's probably by Tomato County. Oh, right.
It is.
If you drive through Tomato Country... Just on the other side, you'll see Eagle Mountain.
It's all in the same geographical location.
Yeah, for sure. Right. And then if you keep going, it's Reno. It's all in the same road. Actually, that's kind of not untrue.
You're not wrong.
You're not wrong.
Yeah. Yeah. Danny, Becky, Jesse, Steph, Michelle and the twins all come down the stairs. Oh, my.
Look, you got that. All those names. But Rebecca and Jesse was Jackie.
They're Jackie from now on.
So all wait.
Also, all of you were up, including the twins were upstairs in that little in that little holding area. Did Dave fart like this?
Yes, probably. Oh, no.
Dave wasn't in this. Dave's not in this. But thank God, because otherwise he would have farted. That's what he would do. He'd wait till you were trapped in the little area.
The living room was was open in the back. Remember, the living room was open. It was in the kitchen that you were in that tiny, small little.
Yeah. Yeah. The living room was open. Yes. You could actually fall off of that little ledge.
There were stairways on the back. Well, there was on the first six years.
Yeah. Yeah. I didn't spend enough time up there. So everybody comes downstairs and Rebecca reveals the revenge joke that they plan to play on Joey. Operation Payback, Stephanie says. Danny says they're going to make him think he won the lottery. DJ thinks that's kind of cruel. But Jesse rubs his hands together with an exactly. The plan is DJ will tape the lottery show on the VCR.
Oh, my God. And then etch it into stone. The family. And then send it by homing pigeon to the family. Right. With a smoke signal to say they received it.
They've covered all their bases here.
Yeah, yeah. The family will then go by the same.
Lottery numbers and switch it with Joey's ticket. The next time he sits down to watch the show, they'll play the tape. The plan is that he'll watch. He'll think he's a zillionaire. And as Steph puts it, it's Shaft City. Michelle concludes the plan by saying, then we'll tell him he didn't win and laugh at him. Like, he laughed at us. Jessie corrects her. They'll laugh much harder. Ooh, this feels pointed. It's very pointed.
Maybe they are trying to get Joey to move out.
You know, after all of the pranks he's pulled, it's kind of time for payback. So I approve of this storyline. Later that night, we are still in the living room. DJ is playing farm on the floor with the twins. She makes goat noises, and when the phone rings, she accidentally answers it using her goat voice.
Not goat boy.
Goat boy.
Remember? Remind me. I remember. It was in an episode, The Boat Goy. Oh, The Boat Goy. And I kept saying goat boy, and I kept saying The Boat Goy. It was the camp episode or something. Oh, yeah. We were afraid of the goat boy. The Boat Goy. The Boat Goy. See? Jackie, boat goy.
We just have our own language here on Power of Channaritos.
Yeah, it's a non-Jewish person in a small boat. A boat goy.
So she answers the phone and it's Steve from L.A. He's having the best time. They went to a restaurant where he met Tom Cruise's dental hygienist. He goes on about how he's seen amazing films by awesome directors. And he goes on and on and on about how amazingly stimulating it has been.
All of a sudden, Steve's got a brain. Yeah, right?
He's been like the dumb jock this whole time.
Right, but all of a sudden he was like, I needed calling. It's because he was going to Harvard in real life. He was like, I got to go out on a smart note.
Yeah, yeah. That was probably his one note.
It had nothing to do with that. But it just, all of a sudden, it just needed to, we needed to see that Steve has matured.
Yeah, he found his passion and his calling. And then this, yeah, it leads into the breakup.
Well, I mean, it wasn't his passion and his calling because he winds up being a podiatrist. But whatever, we'll figure that out later.
You know what? You're right. Um, where am I? Oh yeah. So then Steve asks what DJ has been up to. She hesitates and then tells him that she's been making really neat goat sounds. Steve turns around at the payphone and sees Suzanne Summers.
Oh my God.
She looks fantastic by the way. Oh my gosh.
She was so hot. Steve's mouth i mean that thigh master not for nothing you.
Know what i mean it worked steve's mouth is a gape and suzanne closes his mouth for him i thought that was a great little detail she mentions she needs to use the phone because her flip phone died Her flip phones. Dead.
Her flip phone. Which was such a new, which was like a flip phone. Like saying that meant like, I am so cool. I've got a brick in my pocket.
That was just.
That I can unfold and pull out a giant antenna and call someone on.
Oh, that was breaking technology.
I mean, not many people because no one else had them, but I could.
It was a status symbol. You know, you were like, you were cool. You were with it.
Oh, yeah. I think those are making a comeback too.
Everybody's kind of.
They are going back to the simple calling it analog. Yeah.
You know, there's something to be said for that. So Steve is shocked and he tells DJ that Suzanne Summers just touched him.
He has to go.
He loves this town. Wow.
I feel like, wait, what?
He gives Suzanne the phone and thanks her for the Thighmaster. Because of it, his mom has the cutest buns on the whole block.
That was a line that disturbed me, and I don't know why we included that. Well, because I'm thinking of Babs.
I'm thinking of Babs Weinger.
That's what I'm thinking of Babs.
Right.
I just, but what, like, 19-year-old boy man says, my mom's got a cute butt.
What?
No, no. That's weird, Steve.
Nope.
It's weird.
Yeah, I know.
Maybe it was supposed to be weird, but it was weird for many reasons.
Lots.
Not just because he offered up information to Suzanne.
It took me out of the scene.
It really did. And I didn't know if it's because I'm thinking of it. It took me out of the scene more so than the fact that I was thinking about the character that she plays in the next show. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, she has a great comeback.
She says, how nice for your dad, which I thought was good.
DJ's bummed.
She stayed home for such a short call, and so she decides she's going to go to this party after all. She goes out the front door, leaving the waving twins behind. Bye, DJ.
Until she remembers, oh yeah, she's babysitting.
But she commits to tomorrow being a brand new day. Next, we are on Eagle Mountain.
Which is a set. Oh, are we? It's not a location shoot.
It is a set. It was a very large set.
It looked so real.
So real. I know with the wind. It's the wind. It's the fans.
It was definitely the wind. Not at all the flat uniform lighting as though you were standing in front of a light bulb. But this was built probably in the same location on the set that the Smash Club was. But because Smash Club wasn't used that week, they take all those walls out and put an Eagle Mountain.
Yeah.
It's built in its place.
And it looked a lot like the set where Joey and Jesse go into the wilderness and like all the little animals come out like the Snow White moment.
It was like that, but without the stuff in front. Yeah.
It was. I'm sure there were similar trees and backgrounds and stuff, but that adds some boulders and rocks. And then you got Eagle Mountain. Yeah. There you go. Yep. So Kimmy and Keanu are climbing up the mountain. Kimmy is doing great. Keanu suggests that she might be part mountain goat, which Kimmy says is possible because when her grandpa used to get mad, he'd lower his head and ram people.
That's unfortunate.
That's unfortunate. And I have to say, I have a lot of everywhere you look, so I'm just going to say one now. Oh, yeah, yeah. I guess these two. Maybe I shouldn't say it. I'm going to say it anyways.
I hope you do now.
Yeah.
You can always edit it out.
This poor actor, Keanu. So originally he wasn't wearing this jacket and it was just like his shirt and his bike shorts. But the bike shorts were a little tight. And a little too... Again, like Larry's pants.
You can't... You know what I mean? I don't need to see all the information. Sometimes you just... You don't need that. Sometimes. So there was a note. They got a note.
Costumes got a note from Video Village. And so they had to quickly find this jacket.
A long jacket to cover. Right. A medical question has been answered for us. And we don't need to know that. You know what I mean?
So... Thank goodness they had this jacket at the ready. And we're moving on. We are moving on. Yeah. So DJ's right behind, but she is not having as much fun.
But she is wearing these cute little guest jean shorts. She looks so fashionable. Both of you guys. So fashionable and not dirty for hiking up to what appears to be a gigantic mountain when you turn around. We are high up there. It's like you guys climbed El Capitan. Yeah, with no ropes or no, like, nothing. No safety gear.
You were the first free solo.
Really.
It was you. Yeah.
Oh, Full House. So DJ asks if they're scared about being up so high. And Kimmy remarks, I'm too dumb to be scared. Keanu encourages them. There's only a little way more up to the top. He starts to climb up. And Kimmy remarks that she loves the view of him climbing. Kimmy backs up to get a better view of his behind, and she kicks some rocks and almost falls over the mountain.
DJ catches her. Kimmy remarks, well, but what a way to go.
Kimmy suggests that DJ face her fear of climbing.
What's the worst thing that could happen?
I mean, she's already up the damn mountain. What do you mean face her fear? She's already faced it, right? Why go higher, you know? Turn around, look at this view. It's gigantic.
Take it in, yeah.
9,000 feet high, which is right next to San Francisco.
DJ tells her that she could fall and be splattered into thousands of tiny pieces on these very hard pointy rocks. And Kimmy says, well, there you go. A little while later, they finally reached the top. And of course, Kimmy and Keanu begin to make out. I really hated this episode for this. Like, it was too much kissing. I did not really enjoy, like, any part of this. We get it.
Kimmy's a horned dog. We get it. Yeah, next.
I was so uncomfortable the whole episode. I just didn't, like, I just hated, I hated.
All of it. You looked fabulous and your hair looked adorable. Thank you.
But my funny little story here is that the producers knew how much I hated doing this, all of this making out.
Did you also have to change out of bike pants for an unfortunate reason? No, no, I didn't. Okay, okay, good.
After the taping was over, after curtain call, I got back to my dressing room and there was a large bag of Hershey's Kisses with a note attached from the producer saying, here are some kisses that you'll actually enjoy.
Isn't that so sweet?
Because they felt bad.
That's so sweet for tormenting you. I know.
So I was like, they do care. I just, you know, the storyline had to work. So I had, unfortunately, had to make out with this guy a hundred times. So we're making out.
They help DJ up and she's excited. Look at this view. You can see forever. You can literally see the entire Yosemite Valley. It's incredible.
Kimmy complains that DJ's yakking is killing the mood. DJ can't believe she almost missed out on this. She thanks Kimmy for helping her overcome her fear. And Kimmy reminds DJ that she helped teach her to shave her pits. So what goes around comes around.
It's similar. Okay. You know, it's similar. I mean, you know, hey, I don't know if that's overcoming a fear, more just participating in normal gendered behavior. You know what I mean? Like, other than that, like, it's not really. Kimmy's. But hey, but it's important. Kimmy's in her own world. So you know what, Kimmy? Bless being so dumb that all you can think of is.
Shaving pits. Yeah. Kimmy, bless. You're right. That's the only appropriate response.
Bless, Kimmy. Yes. Yes.
So next, we are in the kitchen. DJ comes home to find Steve at the table. She wasn't expecting him, but apparently he's been waiting there for three hours. She forgot it.
Days before cell phones.
She forgot it was Saturday and they had a date. She's been so busy this week, she just lost track of time. Steve sarcastically remarks, well, thanks. Good to know you missed me. DJ apologizes, but tells him that she's been doing a lot of stuff this week, including hanging out with Michelle and Steph. She forgot how much she liked them.
Hmm. Suspicious.
Right?
You know what I mean? You're like, this is, you don't, nobody likes their younger siblings.
Right. I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Does she con them into giving them her allowance?
How bad is this relationship? Yeah, there tends to.
Be some other reason she enjoyed them so much. That's not normal for a 17 year old girl. Steve wonders if she also forgot that she had a boyfriend.
Okay, Steve. Why is he so prickly?
Like, this is not Steve. He's never this upset. I know.
He feels bad. Give him a sandwich. Right. Distract him with some food.
DJ responds, no, but my whole life doesn't revolve around you. Oh, it's getting heated in here. Steve, no. Sorry, my cataract. My cataract is.
Oh, got it. You're cataracting. You're cataracting. I'm cataracting up.
I got to do this. Steve thinks she's just trying to get back at him for going to L.A. And DJ says, man, you share one photo with Suzanne Somers and you think you're Mr. Hollywood. He mistakes her comment for jealousy. And DJ sends Steve home.
This feels like there's a lot more going on than Suzanne.
Yeah. Yeah. They're, they're just, they're snippy. They're snippy at each other.
Well, it's just kind of what happens. One's still in high school. One's moved on to college.
Yeah.
This is, this, this is what happens.
You're right. You go in two different directions and it's hard to find the common thread that kept you together all the, all those years. So, um, I get it. Makes me sad, but I'm getting it. Next in the living room, Jesse leads Joey downstairs to watch the big lottery show that is really last week's recording. Joey wonders why the whole family is there to watch. They usually tease him for being dumb about buying lottery tickets.
So that's the thing. So did he not— so he didn't watch it last week? Because if he had, he.
Would— He would recognize the numbers, right?
Right.
Right. Oh, this is a loophole.
This threw me. Literally, this ruined the whole— I was like, wait a minute. You couldn't move on.
From this fact?
So he didn't—I couldn't. I couldn't. It took me completely out of the show trying to figure out, if he watches it every week, what happened the last week? Because if it's last week's show— Then he would have seen it. You're not wrong. He would have been like, dude's wearing the same outfit.
Yeah. That is a good point. You're right.
Well. So there had to be a reason that Joey missed it the previous week.
They could have used a throwaway line.
But he didn't because that was the.
Yeah. Yeah.
I'll let it go.
They should have said like, oh, he was out of town last week. So he was traveling on the comedy circuit or something. This is why we should have been producers on the show. We could have brought all of these things up. So the lottery host begins reading the winning lottery numbers. Not Brian Kale. It was that guest star guy.
It was that other guy.
Joey begins to find that all the numbers match and he gets very excited when he wins.
He begins to shout out all.
The things he'll buy, including a pony for Michelle.
That they'll keep in the alcove. Yeah.
And she'll eventually fall off of and get amnesia. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I mean, it's going to walk right up the stairs in the house anyway, so it's fine.
And it's going to have a long little dongle like the pepper mill.
That's the donkey that they'll get later. A donkey, not pony. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's right.
That's right.
Got to keep our animals straight here. Danny and Jesse fight over the lottery ticket until they accidentally throw it in the fire. Joey is distressed and he tries to hurl himself into the fire to retrieve the burning ticket, saying he'll just buy a new hand if he burns himself. Becky tells Joey that he must face it.
The $ 50.
Million winning ticket is gone. The family surrounds him and in unison shouts, April fools! Joey's confused.
How can it be a joke?
He just saw the winning numbers on TV. So Jesse explains how they did it. Joey is now super confused. There's no tape in the VCR. Becky says there must be. She put it in there this morning, and Michelle confirmed that she pressed play. But Joey says he took it out that morning to clean the heads. We were watching the real show, he says. Jesse remarks, have mercy, Joey's ticket actually won. Danny and Jesse run to the fireplace to try to pull out the burning ticket, but there's nothing but ashes left. Joey responds, well, gang, you know what they say, April fools. Oh, Jesse can't believe that that knucklehead got them again. Joey pulls out the tape and suggests that next time they don't label it, joke
on Joey. Yeah, that was a little obvious. Joey basically dares them not to mess with the king as he walks into the kitchen, only to get a bucket of water dumped on his head. The family yells, April Fools!
Oh, and we have a lovely little sitcom moment. Because who doesn't love a bucket of water dumped all over their floor?
It's such a tiny little tag at the end of that scene, but the involvement of setting that up and, like, dumping on Dave.
The whole thing. And the fire. You have to have the fire marshal there every time there's an open flame on set.
It's a lot of setup and cleanup just for this one little bit. But, you know, that's Full House.
And so did they... So my question is then... One, did the entire family believe that the same lottery numbers had been called twice in a week?
Oh.
The statistical improbability of that tells me a lot about the Tanners and their concept of reality. That's true.
You know what I mean?
You're right.
It would have been the identical numbers.
How is it the same?
Yeah. Well, Joey didn't really give him enough time to think before he, you know, said April Fool's. So maybe they just, I don't know.
That's true. The storyline didn't really work. It's fine. It's fine. It's fine.
It was cute.
I'm going to let it go. I'm poking holes in something that's already Swiss cheese.
Don't pull that thread. Don't pull that thread. You just got to go with it.
If you want to destroy my sweater, pull that thread.
Okay. So next we're in the kitchen. It's late at night. Danny comes downstairs and sees DJ sitting at the table drinking tea. He asks what's on her mind. She explains that she and Steve had a fight. They're just not on the same wavelength anymore. DJ wonders if that's how it was between Danny and Vicky when they broke up.
He says yes. Sometimes people in relationships just go off in different directions. DJ's feeling the same. When she was up on that mountain, something inside of her changed. She's been with Steve for so long that she was forgetting who she was. Danny suggests she talk to Steve and let him know how she feels. DJ says she enjoys having a chat with her dad without being in trouble for once. He says he's open to grounding her if that would make her feel better. They laugh and they hug.
This was a sweet scene. I love this. Yeah, it was a cute scene between Danny and Tash. Yeah. I like this one. It was very, very sweet.
I love their scenes together. And I like that they kind of connected because of Danny's recent breakup.
And, you know, I'm like, that's right. They can relate to each other. They both are going through stuff. Yeah, I like that.
Well done, Full House. Well done for all the lottery nonsense.
I'll forgive you for the lottery nonsense because you made it up in the heart scene.
Exactly. Back on Eagle Mountain, DJ takes Steve up the mountain. She says, don't you feel exhilarated?
Overwhelmed? Anything?
And Steve says he feels like a chili dog. DJ's frustrated. Forget it. But Steve says he's just kidding and he doesn't understand the problem. DJ explains that it feels like somebody let the air out of their relationship.
That's just the altitude. I was.
Going to say that's a good description, but yeah, you're right.
Maybe it's the altitude too. Yeah, it's a little thinner up there. So high up.
Steve says he's felt the same way, but he just wasn't going to bring it up. DJ thinks that not talking about it is not going to make it go away, and she thinks there's something missing between them. He agrees it's not the same. They just aren't connecting anymore. But they still have fun and enjoy talking with one another.
But DJ wants heat and passion. What Steve is describing is a friendship, not a romance. Steve thinks it's scary to break up, and DJ agrees. He's the first guy she ever loved. She says climbing that mountain was scary at first too, Until she actually did it.
And then it was incredible.
Steve sighs. DJ is the first girl that Steve ever loved, too. But they can't stay together just because they're afraid of breaking up. DJ agrees that we could both be missing out on other incredible things. Steve wonders if then they'll also lose us. And DJ promises they'll never lose us. They'll always be friends.
And get married like 30 years later.
Steve hopes so because she is the best friend he's ever had. And they give each other a big hug. Did we just break up?
DJ asks.
And Steve says he thinks so. What's next? She asks. And Steve says we should just head down and face the world. However, he's going to take the trail this time. He starts to head out and realizes DJ is staying back. She says she's fine. She just needs a minute alone. DJ stands at the top of the mountain alone for a moment and repeats to herself that she will be okay.
And that is our show. Like this was such an emotional breakup.
Like I felt it.
I really felt it, you know?
I know. I felt it, but it was hard because I was like, it's going to work out. You guys are going to be fine. Don't worry about it. But honestly, there was actually like a weird sweetness knowing that. Yeah. You know what I mean? Like, obviously at the time we didn't and we're just breaking down this show.
Right, right.
But because of Fuller, this scene, I don't know, for me, there was like almost a certain poignance in the fact that knowing it's okay, guys. It's okay.
Like, you'll figure it out. They'll find each other again.
Yeah, yeah.
It's very bittersweet. Very bittersweet.
For sure.
I get it. I totally get it. Why fans are shipping DJ and Steve. Even 30 years later, they did.
I get it.
They're a great couple. This was a very mature breakup for teenagers, I'm just saying.
It was mutual.
It was calm. I was like, wow.
Take notes, kids.
This is how you do a breakup. Seriously.
But yeah, I felt.
I'm like, oh, I love them together. I want them to stay together. I feel it. Like I feel you fanaritos. Um, I know they are end goals.
Steve, Steve is, uh, Steve's broadening his horizons. DJ is trying to figure herself out and, uh, and that's just what happens. But it is, it was a, it was a sad one. And I remember in like real actual set life, we were all really sad that Scott was leaving. Cause we, you know, he definitely, uh, became part of the family once he was there.
He did. We were all very sad. And I know some of us tried to pressure him to stay. And he's like, well, it's Harvard. Like, I can't, I can't defer anymore.
John and Lori were talking about it in the car. They were like, yeah, you should stay. You know, it's a hit show. How long are you going to get this? And they were like, but where are you going to school? He was like, Harvard. They were like, yeah, no, quit this. Go to school. Yeah, never mind.
Well, he had already deferred once and you can only defer for one year and then you got to take it or leave it and or apply all over again. And he's like, nope, I got I got in once. I'm going to take my chance. So take it.
Yeah, I don't blame him.
But yeah, we were all very sad that he was leaving the show. So, yeah, this was this was sad. And I love the episode as much as I hated it. Filming it personally because of all the making out. I really loved this episode.
It was it was beautiful. It was a, it was a sweet, uh, episode and it was a, I love the moment between DJ and Danny. And I also loved the moment at the end where DJ is, you know, working on finding herself. I think that's also like a really important lesson, um, in, you know, young relationships is like, it's, it feels like it's going to be the end of everything.
But, uh, it's, but it's not, it's important to find yourself, find, discover who you are, especially at 16, 17. It's important to figure out who you are away from that person. Um, cause it's easy. Like she said, you get wrapped up and you're like.
Who, who am I?
Uh, so it was, yeah, it was a great, great moment. Very important.
Proud of DJ.
Um, I don't know how long we have until Viper and Nelson come, come around.
Well, I mean, I feel like Season 8. Maybe that's season 8. That's season 8.
I'd like her to remain single for the rest of the season. I don't know.
And there's only like two or three more episodes, isn't there? We're getting close.
We're getting so close.
This is what, 19?
We're getting close to the end.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah. Oh, this is great. I love this episode.
DJ is broken up now.
I'm proud of you, DJ.
Proud of you, Deej. Made a difficult choice. Do you have any everywhere you looks?
I've got... I did not.
Have any everywhere you looks. You said you had a bunch.
I do. I have two more. Well, one is a question for you. you're obviously favoring your arm like what did you do did you break your arm like what.
This is when i broke yes i didn't see it this is when i broke my left wrist how did you break it i don't remember i fell down soccer at in pe at school I slipped and fell and broke it. And somebody like ran by and stepped, like it stepped on it weird too. And it just, yeah, it was not fun. That was the first bone I ever broke. I passed out. Oh no. Yeah.
Yeah.
It was terrible. They tried to hide it.
You were wearing sweaters and stuff.
Yeah, I had a big cast. And I think one of the next episodes, maybe the next one, is when I have my bright pink cast. Oh, they write it in. They just couldn't write it in in time.
Much like they.
Wrote in my other injury later on where I broke my left foot. Changing it up. uh, from the, yeah, left wrist to the left foot. Uh, they also had to write in that Steph hurt herself.
So the parallels between full and fuller, like you broke bones, right? Jeff, Jeff, uh, broke things before the location shoots before Hawaii and Tokyo.
We went on vacation or on a location. It's just wild.
History repeats itself. Um, But yeah, I kept seeing you holding your arm and I was like, what did you do now?
What did you do now, Joey? Yeah, it was probably I was holding it up because it hurt to hold it down. Like, you know, when it's swollen and you can feel it all.
Yeah, it's what you got to do. And the writers were probably like, darn it, we don't have time to write it in this week. We'll have to save it for the next episode.
Yeah, it was definitely like I heard it and they were like, but you're still coming into work anyway. And I think I did. I think I had to go get it like temporarily cast, whatever, and then go in and rehearse that day and then get it dealt with.
And my last Everywhere You Look is, okay, in the babysitting scenes, DJ's wearing a gray sweatshirt that says Shippensburg University.
Yes.
Which is weird because that's in Pennsylvania, not San Francisco. Right. So I texted her this morning and I was like, what's the deal? Like, why are you wearing this Shippensburg?
What's Shippensburg? I feel like there was a reason.
Well, yeah, she had a friend that went there and gave her that sweatshirt. And so she asked Jeff, Can I wear this sweatshirt for my friend to make the friend happy? And he said, sure.
So she just did it to make her friend happy.
Yeah, that's all. Oh, I love that.
That's a neat story. That's very cute. Yeah, because I was wondering, I was like, is that Steve's school?
Yeah.
Is that, is it a fake school? It was odd.
I was like, yeah, this is very well featured for something that has nothing to do with this show.
Nothing to do with anything.
So yeah, it's just a little personal connection to Candace. I like that. Okay. And I thought that was cute. So the Fanneritos were wondering, there's your answer, people. um and that's it that's all all the everywhere he looks for this everywhere he looks yeah.
The yeah i didn't have any that's right i had them all this other than i can't believe you noticed me favoring my left arm and i didn't what an.
Idiot well i'm used to i'm used to you injuring yourself and so i'm like oh yeah there there's another.
Injury by now yeah i guess i just Maybe it's because you don't pay as close attention to yourself.
Yeah, that's true.
I don't know why. Like you kind of do. But like at some point you're just like, I don't I don't know. I try not to look at myself.
I'm like, I'm watching everyone but me because I'm like, I don't want to see.
And I guess I'm like looking for an everywhere. You look not on my person.
Yeah, it's all good.
All good. Glad to hear the story. Now these mysteries have been solved.
We finally know.
Mysteries have been solved. Steph has injured herself, but we'll find out about that later. Yeah.
Is that next week's? There's an episode coming up. Yeah. Producers.
There's an episode coming up. Yeah. Steejay has broken up. Jackie is on the loose.
Jackie's still strong. Yeah.
Yeah. And nobody knows how time or VCRs work.
No.
No.
Yeah. And nobody won the million, $ 50 million.
Nobody won $ 50 million.
No. Sorry, Tanners.
Unfortunately, no. I know. I mean, but they'd still probably stay in that house, even if they did, because that feels like what they did.
Why move?
You know, no.
If Joey had won the money, he would still be living in the basement, Alcove, Jesse's room, all of the above. He just, he's very codependent.
Well, everybody, thank you for joining us for another episode of oh my God, I almost said another episode of Everywhere You Look. And I was like, that's not even the name of our podcast. Well, you know, we could have a rebrand.
