Perfect example of when he, when he's talking to the beekeeper, he keeps oscillating between, I love you and I will fucking kill you. And you're just like, what is going on here?
So this is a, uh, I'm glad you brought that up as an example, but we'll get there, but there's no middle with drunken assholes. There's a, I love you or I'll fucking punch you in the face.
Hello, Silly Little Love Songs.
It's a Patreon exclusive recap of our favorite show.
It is Love is Blind, Boston. Episode 9. I'm Dylan, that's Pat. Great to be here. Wow.
Oof.
You know, I was just.
In the car driving over here with my wife, and I said, why do drunks bother me so much? And I truly hate them. When someone is doing what Rob did to a group of people, I don't think there's anything on planet Earth that gets under my skin as much as that. And I was like, is it like a deep psychological thing? Because I have alcoholism in my family.
She was like, yeah, there's probably some stuff with that. And you have addiction issues yourself. But no, it's just super fucking annoying. I mean, it's just really fucking annoying.
Oh, this, I mean.
We could probably break down just the meetup scene or hanging out with his hooligan loser buddies.
Oh, God, those guys.
Meeting them and how fucking wasted they were and how he didn't stop them from just their grossness.
And just poor Michaela having to endure this fucking shit.
She dealt with it pretty good. I got to hand it to her. I don't think she needed to do that.
Do you dap your wife up all the time? Hey, we good? Hey, dude, put your fucking hand down and also go to rehab. Oh, my God. All right.
Well, I guess we'll get into it. But I must say, that was one of the best barbecue meetups in history.
Here we thought Bonita was going to be the one carrying the steam.
It wasn't. It was that giant, angry drunk. But I want to say really.
Quickly, I don't know if there's a trigger warning around this.
Evidently, my wife tells me that.
And this is just the patriarchal blindness of us foolish men, but there were a lot of women that were like, It's insane.
That they let her go home with him.
I have a note with that. I was like, it should have been like Catch a Predator. The second he walked outside that door, like three security guards should have tackled him.
Maybe I'm just watching it on 1.5 speed. You're more evolved than me. But I was just like, get done with this guy. But the fact that they allowed her to go home with him in that condition is.
It's like, hey, Netflix....
Brutalize them in the pod, undernourish them, undersleep them. But when something like this happens, you got to protect your cats.
I mean, it's crazy.
I'm curious to hear if they did step in. Obviously, if you hear it from her, have you watched all three episodes?
No. Oh, you haven't. Okay.
She kind of, in the final episode, episode 11 or whatever, she explains in detail what took place once they got back to the apartment.
Interesting. Yes. Interesting. But, you know, controversy aside, I thought it was a great episode.
Oh, I was on the edge of my seat.
Yeah, I'm going to give it 90 pots.
My favorite part was when he has Stewie and Jack sitting at the table, and he calls McKellar.
Yeah.
And Stewie's cowering. And he's sitting there like the Joker, right? but much more insane, making demands of the crew. It's like he has everyone hostage in that building, in that room.
He's the prototypical Charizard form of a blackout where he seems completely fine motor function-wise, just a demon takes over him. You know, if I drink as much as he does, I get sick. I want to fall asleep really quickly. He just turns into a goddamn, I mean, literally hell on earth, but, uh, yeah, 90 pots for me.
Ooh. Uh, I loved this episode. Uh, the next one's pretty good too. Uh, the third one, we'll just connect it with episode 10 because it's a pointless episode.
Uh, Dress.
A lot of shopping, a couple more meetups with family, and then it ends pretty well with a little cliffhanger. But yeah, let's get started. I loved it. It was 90 shoulder taps.
All right, so 15 days till the weddings, unless you want to cover whatever.
What were they doing?
We did some bowling and Wilney wins. She says not to toot her own horn, but a little chug-a-chug. I still don't have an idea.
What is chug-a-chug? That's why I'm bringing it up.
I have no idea what chug-a-chug is. She said toot-toot, but I was like, it could have just been chug-a-chug.
Chug-a-chug is when someone lays on top of their partner and then kind of just gestates like a snail, like a salted snail.
I think that's what chug-a-chug is.
But 15 days till the weddings, and we kick off with Michaela's parents.
But not her parents.
I found out later that Lou is a stepdad.
Lou is a stepdad.
Yes.
And we learn about.
This is a very interesting family dynamic. It's a very interesting mother.
Deb.
The Deb Giorgio. Ah, well.
Her brother seems odd. I hate to judge the man, but just from appearance and his nonverbal, he looks like a dude that makes bombs in the basement.
Yes, he does look like he would have some kind of manifesto that was barely legible. What I will say is I was also wondering if he was blind. Because to me, it would just be the cruelest thing if here was this young blind man and trying to make bombs without being able to see. And then before him is a drunk with his sister on an experiment called love is blind. I think he's probably just an oddball, but you know, sunglasses inside really, I think just like, it's pretty much just like, It's pretty much just black guys that can pull that off.
I don't know. I don't even know if they can.
Just shades inside is never a good look.
Yeah, what are you hiding?
What are you hiding?
You know, Deb has a couple good questions for the happy couple. And we learned that Lou was her second choice, you know. You know, she was divorced once, and he was a gift to her. Her words, not mine. And they eloped because she already had her big special wedding, you know. You know, the Deb reminds me of another Deb from Massachusetts with a very loud voice.
This woman was, I mean, it was, you know, it's this kind of thing where, like, sometimes people's humor changes.
It doesn't align. We don't know him long enough. Yeah.
Like to me, introducing a man who has stayed committed to you despite your thick knuckles and miserable attitude for 36 years as your second husband, that would be, you know, that's a thing that's like kind of annoying to me. But I don't know, maybe that's just the joke isn't landing. But she says that she had.
A similar- I'm a ball buster. I'm just a ball buster.
You know, he's over there, you know, putting a roof over my head. But I got to tell you, on my wedding day, I sat there in the makeup chair.
I said, I don't want to do this. This guy's a loser. Oh, what a sweet story.
Wow.
Deb.
I think we should make a movie about that.
Starring Jennifer Lopez.
Um, well, um, mom and Michaela chat alone and she tells her daughter that she prayed every night by her nightstand covered in empty wrappers that she'd get a call back from casting. And now, uh, here she is.
Yeah. Love is blind.
You deserve that, Deb.
I'm sorry.
I'm triggered by the word, the name Deb.
I'm triggered by Deb.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
Oh, sorry. My bad.
Oh, that's a Neha.
I didn't mean, you know what? I didn't mean to move us on.
No, no, no.
You know what?
Speaking of a Neha, which we'll get to right now, but I have to say, after getting to know these people and watching, I don't know, 12 hours of television. I've come around to a couple of people that I originally despised and people that I liked in the beginning, I've come to find them despicable. Right.
Isn't that interesting? That's what Love is Blind does.
But the problem with Love is Blind is that there is, so like in a foreign film, let's say a Norwegian slice of life family drama, I'm good with the subtleties of character changes and stuff like that. In reality TV, I kind of want a little bit more volume on other ends of the spectrum.
You know what I mean?
It's not supposed to be just these normal kind of mundane burps of conflict, which is what Netflix has a lot. But I think that you're speaking on how you thought that Aneha was a buzzing, annoying fly for a long time, and now you can empathize with her.
Well, not only that, have you watched episode 10 yet? No.
OK. OK.
You'd think that people would have had enough.
Of silly love.
Songs But I look around me and I see it isn't so.
I'd like to.
Know, cause here I
Go.
