So we can continue on with our next topic here.
Uh, this one, a bit of a passionate one for, uh, the next alien film. Uh, it's basically getting the prisoner writers. At first I thought it was prison break writers, but no prisoners, something different. Officially.
I thought it was prisoners.
Prisoners.
Yeah, that's right.
Is it, is it prisoners? Yeah.
What'd I say?
The Denis, the Denis film. Cause in his note, he just wrote prisoner.
I thought he wrote prisoners in his note.
Oh, he did. Okay. Sweet.
Prisoners 2013.
Have you seen Prisoners?
No, I haven't.
I don't know if you would like it, but it's an intense watch for sure. Stacked cast. I love it. I absolutely loved it. I watched it on a plane ride to Manitoba. It was the first movie I watched on like a five and a half hour, six hour flight. And I was just like shook after I watched it because it's like a depressing film.
It's six hours to fly to Manitoba?
What the I think it's like five. Honestly, maybe it's less. I don't know. It felt like five. Maybe it was when I went to Ontario. I don't remember. But I watched all of those flights. Six seems like a lot. Six seems like a lot. Maybe it's five. I wouldn't watch it on there. But, I mean, my last few plane movies I watched, I watched Invisible Man, which was amazing.
I re-watched that, which was good. I re-watched it because I'd probably jump out of my chair because there's a couple. There's the one particular, like the attic scene. you know that one oh yeah oh yeah that one i love that movie.
That movie's so on the ladder when the paint goes down.
Oh yeah yeah oh.
I should watch that that's a good house.
Um it just reminded me i saw a post i don't even know where it was but somebody was like videotaping somebody watch um obsession i think it was on on an airplane and they just like yell in the cabin like like everyone's like sleeping but like it's it's the car scene it's the car scene i'll say to somewhat avoid spoilers but yeah that that one fucking what a great movie that is but um where did i even come from on that one talking about uh prisoners right because i watched that on the movie but uh or sorry i watched that movie on the plane my god I think that's one of the better movies I've seen in my entire life. So yeah, that's definitely a positive.
Perfect.
Because I feel like this is going to need a lot of positives. It's going to be connecting to the Prometheus and Covenant storyline. And again, no director, but the odds of it being Ridley Scott are pretty high up there, I'd say.
I'm just pissed off.
That Ridley Scott got all fucking. Because you know Romulus came out and did fucking great and then there was a chance here that we could get AVP and you know you get yeah gosh Fede mixed in with Dan to do something along the lines of a collaborative project here but no Ridley Scott comes in fucking hates Romulus is like I need to finish my finish what I'm doing finish what I started so here we are we're getting that sequel.
Yeah yeah it's crazy that uh like if i just watched the first alien movie i hadn't seen anything else and then you told me this news like man really squat like coming back i feel like that would be like a net positive across the board but just thinking about what we kind of lost to get here uh it's and like of course just the fluff around that whole story how how you had mentioned like he just the comments that he made about romulus and just I don't know, I think the kind of attitude that he was portraying around the whole situation definitely leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I like some sour stuff, but this is the bad sour. Yeah, I think more than anything, it's just a bummer that we're missing out on what
we could have got, especially with how awesome Romulus was. Romulus was fucking amazing. AVP, like, man, such a special place in my heart, that first AVP. So if we were going back there, that would just get my my juice is bubbling in all the right ways, but I'm probably going to watch this. I watched alien earth and I fucking hated that every minute of it, but I did watch it. So as long as this is better than that, I think that is a positive, but yeah, it's just unfortunate more than anything. I think.
It really is. It really, really is.
I would love to just get AVP in space.
Eventually that would be the goal.
And I feel like we're going to get close to that, but, they've moved on to different things at the end of the.
Day imagine we got an avp on uh what was the the movie with lawrence fishburne and um what the fuck's that actor adrian brody yeah just just predators imagine we got an avp but like on that planet man.
Oh that would be sick throw the berserker predators in there with.
The jungle hunters oh yeah Yeah, I'd be there for that. That was such a cool setting. I love that movie, actually. That's dope.
Predator in the Tree.
One of my favorite scenes of all time, man.
That's right.
When Royce cuts him out and he just pulls up his little earth on it.
Oh, that's so good.
So good.
One of the best Predator remixes as well for the soundtrack.
Looks like the new golden era of Alien Predator is already over, says Superman Mike.
I wouldn't necessarily say that.
I mean, me and Dylan still have that pizza bet in the cards, so I'm going.
To stay optimistic.
What was the time frame on that one again?
It was 10 years when we made the bet. Right.
So, no, I want to say that there is still hope because, yes, The Last Predator, obviously, it did not do great. Badlands did not make the most money at the box office. But there's still things put into motion. I think if Arnold Schwarzenegger was to kind of come forward and step in and be like, yeah, let's push for it, I mean, I think something could happen because they put.
All the pieces down. They've set it up.
Uh, Badlands full wholeheartedly incorporates the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, which is great, and then you've also got, um, Killer of Killers that set up the, uh, Predator 2, Prey, and a few other things, kind of just as this, this crossover where, okay, we got, um, uh, Naru sitting in Cryo waiting to be popped open for, for some Predator thing, so we've got all these components just ready to go sitting there. Uh, and I think that's the, that's the cherry on top.
We just need someone to just come in here, get Arnold Schwarzenegger back in there and let's just get that, get that going. I think I don't, I really, Scott won't do this, but I think if you were to bring Sigourney Weaver back into an alien project, that would be huge. Just like we're going to get that, um, uh, read like that alien five, that kind of discount, not discounts, but kind of.
Ignores the other later sequels.
And that was going to be like a direct sequel to Aliens. That was a Neil Blomkamp project. And so you're going to have Sigourney Weaver back in there and everything like that. And there was concept art. And that just seemed like really, really cool. And of course, Neil Blomkamp to be tackling an Alien project.
Hell yes. I love his aesthetic and his vibe. So yeah, but here we are.
And there's definitely a story that still needs to be told with David in the follow-up to Alien Covenant. or post-Dalien Covenant, so I am interested enough to see where they're going to go with that, and maybe he does set something up with the Predator. Superbad Mike, you're absolutely right. Like, Tracking Bird, he did move on, which is sad, but that's why I feel like, okay, maybe, like, an honest Schwarzenegger needs to step in and, like, push forward, and then maybe we can get, like, a.
get some kind of a new.
director on there because he came in he did his three projects and he's he's moved on so someone else can step in see that these pieces are ready to go and just like make something let's do it but yeah I'm passionate about it okay and let's see here last but not least I feel like you're a big fan of this film.
1408 Man, I have core memories with this movie. I definitely have a special place in my heart in this one. I remember the first time I watched it, I probably watched it with my dad, like, many years ago. And it was okay. It's a little spooky. You know, some good jump scares in here. But it, like, spoilers for 1408, whenever the fuck that movie came out, by the way.
If you haven't seen this movie yet, skip ahead, because I'm about to spoil some things. But the scene, I'm assuming you've seen it, right?
I saw it a long time ago.
But you remember, yeah. So John Cusack, I believe is the guy's name, he's trapped in this hotel room, you know, and then he eventually gets out at one point and he goes to the post office and he's talking to this guy and it's like, oh man, he finally got out. And then all of a sudden the post office worker just starts like tearing down the walls and then it's revealed that he's like actually still in the room. I remember that scene, like just totally like fucking my brain. Uh, when I was, when I was younger, I'm like, man, he thought he was out. Like that's so much worse than him just being trapped there the entire time. Uh, I, I really, I feel like that's a hidden OP pick. I, I haven't rewatched it. So like, I don't know if it's,
if it holds up in that, that sense, but just that specific scene. Oh man, that, that had a chills. I had a chills moment the first time I watched it. Um, What are you about to tell me, though, for 1408?
Well, they're doing a sequel.
Whoa.
Is just crazy.
Like, holy shit. Everyone's back?
Well, it looks like we got John Cusack, Samuel Jackson, and the original director coming back.
Crazy.
Yeah.
I'm pretty sure what happens at the end, he burns down the room and then that kind of like ends like the, like, I guess like the purgatory or whatever the fuck he's in. I don't know if he dies or not. I really don't remember. Clearly not. If he's coming back, uh, this is not one I would have had my bingo card at all. It doesn't really seem like a movie that you would do a sequel with, especially bringing everyone back. I feel like bringing everyone back might have the best chances of success for it. Um, but it's not really a franchise that like is talked about a lot. I feel like if somebody says 1408, I feel like I am one of the outliers that have seen that movie. But what about you? Are you surprised about this?
I'm surprised. I feel like 1408 is easily one of those movies you go to the.
Pawn shop or you go to the Value Village at their store and you see the DVDs just on the rack for this movie.
There's the littered all over the place.
The clear dust on it. Nobody's touching that movie.
No.
But it's definitely a problem. It's a movie that I.
it does have some rent free spots in my mind, uh, for this movie, just, yeah, him trying to get out to the fire, you know, the flood and, and just whatnot, where he just, it tricks you so many times into thinking he's out and he is just far from it. And, uh, it is a terrifying concept when you really look at it that way. So the only way I can think about them doing a sequel is that he's still in that room and he didn't get out from the fire. Like, And we pick up or maybe someone else goes to stay in that room and then they find John Cusack hiding in the closet or something like that.
I don't know.
Yeah, it's it has to be written. It has to be written. Well, that's that's what I'll say.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Cool.
Well, you have anything else you want to add or have we have we done it? Did we finish it? I think we did it. I think we did it. I made a bold move, Taylor, last night. It was like 11 o'clock at night. I just decided to throw on Batman Begins because why the fuck not? I skipped like the first 40 minutes and then I passed out at a certain point. But, man, that movie slaps.
It doesn't sound like you watched it. You skipped almost an hour and then passed out.
Okay, settle down. It wasn't a full hour. I skipped from the point that he did, like, the League of Shadows stuff. Because I'm like, I just want him to, like, start. Like, I love hero origin movies. And I feel like I just get hyped, especially in that one, when he's getting his gadgets with Fox. But, man, we were juicing with that project.
It's funny.
There is, like, a few scenes that I just chuckle at. whether it's like certain Michael Caine line deliveries or like certain like dynamics with the company between like Fox and like Mr. Earl and, and Wayne and whatnot. Um, but man, that movie slaps. It's, it gets me, gets me going.
It's a great movie. Are you going to keep going? Do the whole trilogy? Probably.
Yeah.
I mean like, not like tonight or anything. I'm not going to throw on, I mean, I got to finish the first one. Clearly I passed out pretty hard. I woke up and, fucking scarecrows saying things that i'm all i'm all terrified it's it's it's a loud movie at the parts.
You think you inhaled the gas you know the screen's all fucked up and he's his eyes are.
On fire rachel rachel i always love that though when he's like like she's like on the fucking fear gas in the batmobile like just having a panic attack and you have this guy in a bat suit just like stay with me it's just like such a terrifying.
You're doing like 500 miles per hour in this fucking tank.
Like why do you know my name where are you taking me like why do I feel like this.
Yeah and he breaks his accent well he breaks his Batman voice he breaks his Bruce Wayne voice in that moment.
Too yeah 100% but yeah I don't know why I just wanted to shout that out.
Nice nice I mean I watched the Batman I mean I think I said that on the After 9 but it's just I saw a little Batman in October.
Yeah, Pattinson. That's funny because I had watched Batman... Which one is it? The one with the Riddler. I watched that one before the afternoon.
The one with Riddler.
Batman... Jim Carrey one? Yeah. Yeah, Batman Forever. There you go.
Hell yeah, that's awesome.
Batman mood. I'm with you. Definitely is an October thing. Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, for me, it was definitely Clayface. I was already feeling.
the Batman, but after watching Clayface, I was like, I just need to get in there. I need to immerse myself more in this.
Yeah, cool. Right on. Well, ladies and gentlemen, we will be back, I believe.
Later this week we have a that fucking threw me off i saw like the changing um we have a i guess we're doing a cast tomorrow so that'll be fun and then sure enough on thursday me and travis are going to be doing a live stream for halloween because the new dlc came out tonight for the game so definitely.
Check that out quick Didn't the game just come out?
It's a very quick game.
It came out earlier this month, and so they've already dropped DLC for Halloween 5, 2018, Michael Myers skin in there, tons of other stuff, a new map as well, which is pretty awesome.
So, yeah, Matty, if you're listening.
