Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome back to Travis Told You on a Monday, October 26th.

2026 the week of halloween oh my god i'm in a good mood i get to start the show on time all the kids healthy no fevers no flus no pan for your mouth there's fucking wood i'm sure i'm jinxing myself i'm sure next week explosive diarrhea will come my way and there you go but chas told you is back right now i'm back today and then i'm back i think thursday thursday again knock on wood but I have, I asked this a while back ago for everyone's favorite top 10 Halloween, no, just horror movies, because I've said this for a while, and I'm going to start doing this, where I go, I think this is my top 10, or maybe it's not my top 10, it's like, I really have no idea, it's been a long time, I think I had a solidified top 10

before when we started this podcast, but horror movies, even like rom-coms and comic book movies, I think those are ones that I really need to like go back, because comic book movies, it's like, I have no idea with so much stuff that has come out since, I don't know, 20, obviously 15 when we started this. But just in general, I feel like we had a couple of years of knowing that. But yeah, this is today's show. Traz told you.

I shoot the shit for a little bit. And today is a big kind of just shoot the shit. I'm going to talk about Clayface and the box office a little. Usually like I do on the first Traz told you on the week when they used to be on the Mondays. And then I'm going to do a longer what I've been watching. I know we do those segments on the podcast.

The reason I'm going to do it is because I haven't been on one of those in a long time. And I would not want to, like, especially if I end up hosting with somebody who ends up going, I've only watched one or two things. And that's nothing but that. It's like, okay. And this week, what we've been watching will be a little longer. Because if Dylan's on, hopefully me and him are going to talk about You Can See Everything. And then me and Tara are going to talk about Vision Quest. If people are not patrons, I guess we haven't put it out there in the public yet.

But if you haven't seen, for the Vision Quest reviews, we're going to start doing those like we did Euphoria. They're not going to be the night of as of right now. they're going to be like hybrids where we do a newscast, and at the end, Taylor and I, people will go away, and Taylor and I will review that, because to be honest, let me actually check that last one, let me just triple check before Tuesday comes around, let's see, Vision 3 to 4, yeah, even though in the first one, this is easily, so we started tracking, you know, we're going to get to Clayface and everything, but like I said, this is going to be a very free-flowing show, so anything in the comments too, just Not say whatever you want,

but ask whatever you want that is kind-hearted or a question. That sort of deal. Let me just get this out here. I don't know. What gifts should I use today? I know what gift to use. I know what gifts I'll be using the whole week, and you'll get to see why. So since 2024, we've been tracking our TV show stats and stuff. And that was just to decide because, okay, we do lots of podcasts and episodes. You know, what should we review? What we shouldn't review? And we kind of have a number. And it did hit that number.

Both these episodes have hit the average of like, okay, that's good. But it's still easily right now the lowest. Our lowest series before this was It, Welcome to Derry. But the thing is with that, we had those discussions. And then as the series went on, it started to climb. Now, Vision Quest, that could be the case. The problem was, though, or the problem with this one was, with It Welcome to Derry, the first episode started really strong, and then there was a big drop, and then those last two, big jump. This one, it does, like, it just hits the average, which we kind of look for as far as, like, shows or in the middle series. The premiere of the show just did the average. And we're like, okay, let's see.

And then episode two did just fine. So we're going to do it as far as, I think the finale we'll cover and do, like, a longer form. We're going to do a bit quicker because we just, Nowadays, with everything going on, obviously we've got Extra Life coming up, so that has another thing to do with it, too.

We're doing our film stuff. And even this week, what can I read this week? So we've got Tomorrow is Weekly Geek with Kirkland and Taylor. We're doing that instead of Vision Quest. Wednesday, we've got a whole cast with all four of us, hopefully. That's what we'll talk about there. I've got to do Star Fox Adventures with Dylan. Then I've got Thursday with Travis Tildea as well. I have to record some Patreon content with Kirkland. And then we've also got to record Dexter. And then we've also got just Halloween and public life, right? Um, and Dexter, same thing.

We're going to, we said that on afternoon, we're going to see how it does, but with us doing so much stuff, we have to pick and choose. It'd be different if like all the numbers were down. I can't remember what it was last. We didn't even put it out there. I think it was our fourth biggest month. Yeah.

Cause I think it was sometime in summer. We had our fifth biggest month ever. And then last month was our fourth biggest month. So it's not like, Oh, everything's kind of down, this is the general, okay, we'll keep going with it. It's like, all these other things are doing well, and Vision Quest is just doing, like, fine. And, like, usually it's either big reviews or the newscast, right? And that's where, for us, it's like, okay, the newscast is usually still the best bread and butter for what we do other than a big episode, like a big review, because anyone can listen to a newscast. Where Vision Quest, if people are not watching it or I'm going to watch a binge, they might catch it later. So we're

doing that with Vision, we're doing that with Dexter, that's what we tell people now.

If you are.

watching something and it's just in our review, listen to it, spread it, because if it's not pulling numbers, we'll just have to move along. And the other reason, too, it's super hard for Taylor and I, because it drops on a Tuesday, double episodes at 6 p.m., so that sucks because we have the kids. We're the only people reviewing it, so it's like, oh, I need this week off. So that's another thing, too. So we're going to definitely still talk about Raided, no matter what, even if we do, like, let's say for some reason Taylor was missing this Wednesday.

I'm already hot and bothered. I would like do a mini review, but the finale, we're going to do that. And same thing. I don't know if we've announced with rings of power as well. We're going to do that as well, because it's like four episodes, which Dylan Kirkland with their jobs, it's been like, okay, well, if we got double drops, we can't be there for the review.

These are four to three episode drops. And that's like, okay, we might review a day later, but it's like, okay, we don't get the best juice, like squeeze that stone. So I think we're going to do a whole binge review and it's done. So there's going to be some hybrid schedules, but it's not like the cast like are going away. It's okay. we can't really work that there or that's not working. Let's do weekly geek and Kirkland and Taylor. I got a bunch of stuff to talk about.

So look at that. So, uh, John, I'm good to see you. A shout to, you know, one of our patron producers, the only man, uh, you know, only person. I say this to everybody. If you want to become a patron producer, our patron producer, do the, like the year long tier. He right away. I thank you very much.

Join the year long tier. That's the best way. It's a reduced price as well. So John, I thank you, uh, for just, you know, you started listening, got on there. Hopefully, uh, We're trying next afterlife or next afterlife. I don't know about afterlife. Next after nine will probably be like a midday one because obviously we know the night times are tough.

But John M says, I'm always curious to hear about podcast economics. So this info is of use. My teenage daughter has ambitions to host a podcast at some point. So anything I learn can become advice for her. I don't know how old she is. As far as some point, I would always say as quickly as possible. And you do have to, what I'd say is preference with like, And I don't know what you would want to be covering, John, if it's stuff that we are covering or other stuff.

If it's other stuff, obviously I don't have the tools of like, hey, if you're starting a car podcast, I don't know what that is, right? In our podcast, it's usually getting stuff out there as quickly as possible, which can suck because you can see the difference. We've seen the difference of reviews that if we're reviewing a series and we get out the day of or the night of versus the next day, it's massive. And now it's fine, but when we used to do the... Back in the day when Disney Plus started the TV shows and they had the midnight reviews, we would review those as midnights.

Those things did killer numbers because I don't think– I'm sure there's some people that were, but I don't think too many podcasts– again, I'm sure there were. But either way, it must have been the people that usually go to a podcast found us because, oh, we're one of the first podcasts out there. And usually when you get it out there, unless you have a massive fan base and listener base, which like– you know, we got like a good enough base, but it's not like a fucking Joe Rogan or anything. If you get out there quicker, though, it does push it through the algorithm. And as far as that goes with podcasting, YouTube, you never know, because YouTube just changes things all the time. I've said this before.

Now we're getting more people live, but they'll change something and won't. I remember back in the day, it was easy to get people live. But yeah, no, if you have any questions, John, let me know. Oh, that's the other thing I'd just say is you got to tell her to stick with it, because there's going to be times before we get into Clayface numbers, when we start hitting So now we in I think it was July or something was our fifth biggest month ever. And then September was our fourth biggest month ever. Those months, all the biggest months. So if anyone's heard this, I'm sorry.

But if you're interested in podcasts, listen up. All our biggest months were from 2022. The strike happened. We lost some momentum. And then either you don't pick that up. And honestly, just stuff like the MCU kind of sucking for a while. We lost people there because they're not invested. X, Y and Z. Whatever it is, now we're getting back to those numbers, which is great. I never knew if we were going to, right? And that's the same thing. Luckily, we're passionate about it. And even where we were, it's still worth our time. Obviously, it's profitable in what we put into it, right? Because we put in multiple hours if we're on an episode. That's two editing and getting everything up there. That's about an hour and thumbnails and stuff, right?

Like I'd say a podcast, like when we do a two-hour one, I think it's usually– it all depends on the size of it. But there's usually an hour of work for it and barring no hiccups or anything, right? Especially the newscast when we do the cutouts, it takes a while. But that's what you would just have to tell her to stick with it. If she ever does it for a while and gets a big boom or big thing in listenership and then it drops for a while, you've got to stick with it. If you're that passionate.

If you're not passionate, then, of course, bounce and do something else, right? But if you're passionate and want to do it, you got to because you never know what's going to happen. For a while, I didn't know because we had big success with Endgame. That's where we got on Spreaker. And then after that, the COVID happened. So we lost a lot and we built back up. And then so it's just ebbs and flows. So I've learned that.

And that's the good thing because before it was always like, well, we always said it'd be nice to get back to those 2022 numbers. And now it's actually happening. It's like, oh, this is great. And I don't know about single months. I think our whole year might end up being bigger than 2022. So a big thank you to everyone that does listen. We appreciate that because we know there's just tons of podcasts, right? And that's the other thing, John, it's just, that's why I'd say, I don't know what she's planning on doing, but if it is stuff like us or just stuff where you do multiple assets, you have to spend your time where the, like for us, it's all four of us and there's pay stubs. You have to make sure, okay, is this worth what we do?

Like we're going to do a comic book virgins in December for doomsday, but we don't do that as much. Cause you know, the people that listen to that show really liked it, but, it still was a smaller amount, right? So as we've always said, if this was our full-time jobs, oh, I'd be doing all those. We'd be reviewing all of them.

You'd be weekly cast every day. We're always trying to push it forward. But yeah, it's a tough gig. And I'm sure we're going to have Avengers and stuff. And maybe in a year or two, it's like same thing. It's going to drop. Like, oh, where are those numbers, right? You never know. And sometimes the other thing is you can't even control the algorithms. Apple, and it makes more sense, right?

But Apple used to have a way where if you were subscribed to– let's say, John, you have a podcast about fish. I subscribe to Fish by John, and I have this podcast. If I subscribe to it, it used to just auto-download what you were subscribed to. Now you have to go and click on the podcast. Once you click on there, it downloads it. But at the same time, it wouldn't always be alerting you or it wasn't an instant download, right? So at the same time, I get why they did that, right? Because, hey, if someone's not listening to that episode, why would they download it? But at the same time, though, like that definitely hit on download.

So before, when you're going to sponsors and you have X, Y, and Z, and then they change this feature and you go, oh, it's a lower. It is a more genuine number, but at the same time, it hurts. And then it's just things with YouTube as well. When they change algorithms, you never really know. There's so many people like, oh, I don't get this in my feed, this and that. So I digress. But there you go, John M. says, Vision Quest is a binge for me. The family wants to watch it, so I'm assisting. Would you want a Vision and Agatha together first? Yeah, that's good. That's a good idea if you guys haven't seen it. If you have or need a reminder, yeah, we were watching WandaVision after, and we thought of watching Agatha for the Halloween season,

but we have not had time. Very, very busy. I'm looking at like 12 pumpkins right now. I don't know when we're going to carve them. You can check it out after that, and we went to a pumpkin walk with Taylor and his wife, and that took forever. And then yesterday was super busy, so yeah, just not lots of time going on, right? But yeah, so... like I said, if you're interested in something, um, uh, listen to it and let us know, share it. And then if not, we might just do other stuff. Right. So, okay. Let's go to the box office this weekend. Yeah. Clay face opening to 24 million domestically. And then you got 43 million overall, which is technically, I know people that's been the big discussion, right? It's because when I get news

and things, especially to more weekly, I'm looking for news and it's like, what's a win, what's not a win, everyone's debating this and everything, and I don't know why people are debating it really yet, because we'll get into this, and it's gonna be fucking, I don't know, rinse and repeat for everyone that listens to the show, but I just try to say it to try and make a point, right, but we'll get there, you can see everything, 20 million, that's huge, 25 plus going up, that thing's at 45 million dollars right now, that's fantastic, because you know it didn't cost that much, Wildwood, very unfortunate. I want to see this at some point, but yeah, only 11 million. Again, I've said this before that I'm with Forgotten Island. I

think right now is that, that like, I know some people start school in August, so even then, but the, to me, the start of school and right before the holiday season is super tough. Like when they put Forgotten Island for us, it's like a week after kids are going to school. It's like, there's shit going on, man. Like, like, and we want to see it. Don't get me wrong. I, I was super anticipating that same thing. I, I wanted to see the, uh, Sean, the sheep movie, but it just, was out for one week. And the kids movies I get, you have to put out there. I'm sure there's tons of maybe, uh, evidence of the past that working something in September or October, but I don't know. I just feel like from the way I'm growing up right now

with raising kids and my friends, um, I just don't know, like, Oh, wait one second. I just, the time factor, right? I guess it's different for everybody, right? Cause maybe one or two kids, you know, I'm talking to somebody has fucking five kids. So, um, that's different. There you go. Sorry, I just had to respond to a work thing. So let's see here. What else is cooking in the box office?

Other Mommy at 3.8. What's that making? Wicker? 5.7. That's pretty good for Wicker. I'm excited to see that movie. $ 94 million for Other Mommy because it has a budget of $ 18 million. That's good. And then the other one I wanted to talk about was Street Farter. It may as well be. Street Fighter at number four with, what is that, 8.6? What was the drop here? Let me see.

Had a pretty bad drop, 72%, which I'm not surprised, right? And then what did Mortal Kombat 2, that ended up over 100 million, right? Mortal Kombat 2 box office, 2 million? 129 yeah and street fighter is not making that so i guess mortal combat wins in the front as far as the win because it's funny they kind of tracked and performed similarly but then when it comes time to the the running that's gone so uh so you remember he says so the runtime and rating wildwood was not going to be big for a kid audience no and this is for example my uh second oldest logan i asked her she wanted to go one she just didn't like have any interest at all so like And that's the tough thing, right? I agree. It's a stupid debate.

No one really agrees with this, right? But some people are like, oh, animation's for kids. I don't think it has to be exclusively just for kids, but it does show there's a harder market if it is more of an adult, younger audience animated film, right? Because you need that core audience of the kids pushing you there. I can't wait to see Wildwoods. I'm trying to convince my oldest one at some point because she was like, yeah, I kind of want to see it, but I don't know.

um i've just told hey it's really good i think you'll like and she's like getting older so i think she'll like some of these themes there but yeah two and a half hours it's the same thing as like you can see everything i'm gonna see that uh either tonight or tomorrow and i've just been trying to carve out a time but they're all showing up fucking 10 p.m but i want to see it because dylan saw it and then i was like okay i definitely want to talk to him about i've been wanting to see it but the long run times they're very hard for me if they're not a podcast um thing to talk about right so And the rating, yeah, I can agree. There might be some people looking at that. So there's other things with that, not only back to school but the rating.

So hopefully it finds an audience after the fact. But with Clayface, to me this is like there's only two– not only, I guess. It's just like the two scenarios where you could have really talked about being a win or a fail are if it overperformed and did very, very well or if it underperformed and did very, very bad.

This has done good. But as we just looked with Street Fighter, that did, like, good enough, right? And that's where I've just, you know, podcasts I listen to and some people I follow, it's just like an analyst arguing that I know there's one trending topic in the movie community, these two, like, box office accounts, like, arguing with each other, one calling each other shill and one saying you're just, like, you know, just the dumbest account for box office. There's, like, now more than ever, again, this is Travis told you, reiterating things I've said multiple times, so I apologize, but most of these movies are decided in week two. Yes, if Avengers makes a billion week in one, that is great,

and that's massive, obviously, right? And opening weekend doesn't have nothing to do with it, right? It is if it overperforms or underperforms, right? Because if it overperforms, then you go, okay, word of mouth, it's making more money than we thought, that's way better, where if it underperforms, obviously, then it's okay, this thing's a crater. So I'm saying in these movies, there's so many times, right, because it happened with Thunderbolts, too, if it reviewed well, did pretty good, and everyone's like, oh, well, look, it doesn't look like Marvel's going to have an issue. Boom.

And I think it really started. It started before, but I think the biggest culprit was Ant-Man and Quantumania. That's the one that woke me up because I think it had the biggest opening weekend for an Ant-Man movie, but then that thing fucking cratered. So the opening weekend obviously does matter. But I mean, when it hits right on expectations, pretty much, it doesn't really. And even then, at one point, this thing was tracking, what, like 35 to 45? So I'm going with the closest tracking that was the week of, which was 45 to 55. International. And this thing made 43 international, like, or sorry, worldwide. And this thing made 43.

So like a minorly under its projections, but that's not bad. It is about weekend two. And what is fucking weekend two coming up here for sure? And we just did this on After 9, but I don't think there's anything coming out on Halloween, right? Let's see. uh, Christmas at the Kringles, no, Wicker Expands, The Mongoose, yeah, no, there's, there's nothing really, it's next week, it's all about fucking Godzilla and, um, Cat in the Hat, right, um, that is good for it, um, Mike says a big test for Clayface is proving the lower budget superhero movies are viable, absolutely, right, and I hope it does well and makes its budget back or whatever they deem as success, because there should be more, I'm not saying all of them, I'm just

the guy that's been banging the drum of, like, hey, Where's a fucking 40 million Frank Castle movie? You know, like, whatever we got, One Last Kill, use that, and then half of that, and then another half of that, let's get a low-budget action movie, right? And I hope so. And that's what I hoped with Joker and Deadpool, but of course those ballooned. Deadpool, Wolverine, look at Joker 2.

They take the wrong lessons, right? Yeah, I think that is a good start, but at the same time, because what was Street Fighter's opening week? Street Fighter opening weekend because I remember people being like that's pretty good like lower budget okay so it opened with 30 million so it opened more than Clayface and what's that now so let's see because it's going to drop more and I don't think it's going to like so 79 million and what is the budget here Let's just take a look here.

Budget was $ 82 million. So you want to make at least, as we said before, sometimes it's triple, but at least double, right? Because you've got the marketing and the theater also takes half. So it's making $ 80 right now. So it's going to make its production budget back, but I think it's not going to make money. Again, just the theatrical term, right?

It's not going to make money. And that opened with $ 30 million. That opened $ 6 million higher than Clayface. That is a 72% drop. Now, granted, it is Halloween, scary movie. I get you. I understand. But there's nothing saying that Clayface won't have that big of a drop. And I've said this before where I don't think, like, with me, obviously you can check out our review. It's on the feeds.

I don't think it's good enough. I think it's good, but I don't think it's good enough for people to say, you've got to go out and see this. It's not like what's fucking sucking up the air right now is you can see everything. That is the, you've got to check this out. There's somebody, oh, my work. There's somebody in the team's meeting on Friday. Every Friday we do a team's meeting at my day job. And this person's like, yeah, I mean, we'll see this doc. I'm like, I know the person's not a Nathan Fielder person. And when they're saying that, someone's like, oh, I want to see it, too.

Let me know what you think. And obviously, I'd never watched that show. Was it The Dropa, The Drop, whatever, Amanda Seyfried? Now I know they're connected. But because, you know, obviously, that's Elizabeth Holmes, et cetera. So and I think she got nominated for an Emmy or something. But still, that wasn't like a show like that, like blew up the nation, right?

It's not like one of these where it's like, hey, they made a real life, you know, The fucking real Daenerys, they found her and they're making a documentary about her. It's not like that. So to me, it has entered the zeitgeist in a way that you could never plan for, right? It's similar to Supergirl when it came out during Obsession in Back Rooms, when those movies just naturally grew up as far as, hey, people want to see these things.

They're talking about them, X, Y, and Z. So it's funny that's kind of happened twice to DC where they're in the middle of these storms of, lower, smaller movies just blowing up with regular people, right? So I could see a version where that is number one next week, because I think the word of mouth's going to keep going on that versus Clayface, which I really don't know.

I'm thinking, so it did 24, at least, and that's a tough thing, right? 24, like, it can't, like, even if you do 12, you can see, oh, only 50% drop, but if it does 12, what? It gets us to 60 million, something like that. Because again, the budget is, what do they say that was? It came out on Friday and it's usually more, but we'll go with what they're putting out there, right? Clayface budget is $ 44 million.

So you want to be making 88 and let's just round up to say 90. It's about halfway there to just pass the production budget. And that's where to me, people are, oh, it's a win. It's a win for DC. it's not a crash and burn. And as I've said before, if it crashes and burns, it's not as bad. I don't think it's a big deal. It's all about man tomorrow.

If Clayface overperformed, I thought that would have been a bet. Like that'd be a much more important narrative where this just like, okay, it's another kind of comic book or horror movie that came out and just did fine. And we moved along. Right. Um, to me, that's where easily next week could have like a 72% drop. And what is that then? Like, that's above, like that's below 10 million, I believe. Right. So that's where, what if this thing caps out at fucking 60 million and you're going to make 90 million back? You're 30 million below that? Like, like I just, it's strange where people just, just, I guess it must just be biases. And again, I like stay somewhat out of it. The only way I see this is either the people on my feed that I

follow when I go do a search or when I'm collecting news. And that was the big thing about Clayface, right? When I was looking up the numbers and just people and even people I talk about and I saw someone in a big thread where I'm like, why is this a, why are you arguing this? We don't know nothing. The runs, it's, it's not over yet, right? Like it's just the, the continuing weeks of the box office are way more important now.

They're probably the most important they've ever been. Maybe, I guess maybe not, maybe in like the nineties and eighties. So I can't speak on that. Cause I feel like back in the day, we heard a lot more about how movies would stay in the theaters forever and just keep chuggling along and making money and money and money.

I'm going to say in the, let's see. because I'd say post-2010, but that's like, that's only 16 years, right? So that would be a good study of when, I guess I said like, hmm, like when did that stop? Like when did movies always, like when was it just like, the opening weekend was huge and then there was draws, but it just kept making money. I'd have to look.

I wonder, because like what, Spiderman in 02 was like the biggest week in all time. Yeah, I'd have to do some like homework on that and look at box office and see like, When did those opening weekends become so important versus just like coming out? Like when we had stuff with like an obsession, right? Where it's like week two, three, and four did better than opening weekend.

I feel like that's stuff you heard more about back in the day, but not as much now, right? And maybe, and this is where I'll go back. For some reason, and I don't think this is the case, but for some reason, if it makes like 24 million again, 20 million, that's fantastic. That's the fucking story. If it doesn't even drop or drops like a little bit, like a back, like a obsession more like, like a back room is.

And yeah, that's the story. I just don't. And don't remember too. It is like on cinema score, you go back and forth, got an A minus. That's fucking great for a horror movie. That shows the audience really enjoy themselves. Now does cinema score really matter? No, all the time. Sometimes it can be like, I feel like back in the 2010s and to them, that was a good indicator of all this is gonna get some word of mouth.

We've seen plenty of like A minus or A movies fucking bomb. you know, and, like, not continue to do well, so that's great, but now more than ever, and that's what we'll have to see again, I put out the theory where, I don't know if it's going to drop, but it's just that people, like, have their, like, like, and don't get me wrong, I already saw Clayface, right, but, like, me and Emma, we have our list of stuff, like, oh, we're gonna watch Trick or Treat the night before, right, we're gonna watch Nightmare Before Christmas, I think there's a lot of people now, especially with streaming services, when they talk about their Halloween watches, it's gonna be at home, and Clayface they can easily check out later, so, I'm thinking, like,

at least... So, what? This made 43. Yeah, I could see it being, like, Street Fighter and being in the single digit. I could see it being, like, a 9 or an 8. Because Street Fighter made... Like, that's where I'm going. I'm going to say it's, like, 9.5. Halloween could help it or could not. Like, this would be a good test to see, will people go out because it is Halloween and check it out? I really don't know.

So.

uh, definitely since COVID, the second week drop is a big thing, yeah, 100%, like I said, for me, that marker is Ant-Man and, uh, Quantumania, that's the one where it really showed that, hey, it had the biggest opening of that franchise, and then the second week and ate it, right, now we've seen that a lot, where you can't trust it, it is, it's a week and two and three, I think it's more so two, because two, you can make another big chunk of change, three, it starts to settle in, obviously, there's examples of movies that start to keep going after three, right, so, It's not a case-by-case basis, but yeah, COVID now, because I think it's just enough people, people went away from the theaters, and they're like, if they want to really

go see a movie, it's word of mouth, or they liked it so much they want to go again, right? Where before, I don't think that was the case. So, oh, look at that. That's great. I got to shut that out after this drink here. Brita H2O. My God. That's good stuff. A big shout out. I don't know, because I hate the, so obviously Extra Life we got coming up.

when someone donates on Facebook, they don't tell me. It's just, it's just Facebook user. I'm going to show all these people out there. But yeah, we have, let's see. Oh, my good friend Raquel, my auntie Raquel. So, thank you. Shout out to her. Shout out to David Reese and Cocktail Clay. I should look now because we're actually, there's nothing better. Don't get me wrong. Like, obviously the donations at any time will all come up. Oh, okay. There's like a fucking big hair. I live in a house with, five ginger ladies. So there's just big ginger hairs. And I actually got long hair too. So it could be me that we haven't announced yet publicly. That is one of the tears. There has been only once where I

want my head shaved. This is another time I would like it shaved. As we've said before, I don't think we announced it. What I would do is I'm going to shave him like a donut. I'm going to give myself a big, like I'm going to do something funny with it. And then I'll say, I'll shave him. I can't rock that way. But, uh, my hair has been, uh, growing for my Halloween costume. I don't think they'll know what it is yet. I don't think I've slipped or anything, but, uh, supposed to be a little frantic, a little messy, but yeah, we've now raised $ 82 out of $ 1, 000, which is great, there is, I'll tell you, there's nothing better going into a stream with some money raised, because, okay, we're making

some progress, we're getting money towards the kids, and yeah, that's coming up November 7th, we now, as the kids are gone, I'm starting to announce everything, because I do most of social media, not all of it, but most of it, especially this announcement stuff, because, you know, I can't trust the guys, they'll screw it up, and then, But we have announced, obviously, officially, people knew the Trivia Battle was coming back. But for the first time ever, we're trying something a little bit different. Let's see if it works. We're going to be doing a free-for-all. So when we bring on the podcasters, and I don't want to say next week we'll start announcing the names, when we bring on our favorite podcaster and reviewers, before it's

always been like, oh, Team Travis, Team Taylor, Team Chris, Team Travis. It's always been me, right, leading somebody. So this time I thought, okay, let's change it up a little bit. Let's have some fun. So whoever joins us, it's going to be a complete free-for-all. There's going to be 30 questions. We have a way for them to answer them. And yeah, they're going to answer them. We're going to keep track. Dylan's going to be the point keeper.

I'm going to be hosting the DC portion. Taylor's going to host the Stars portion. And then Kirkland's going to host the Marvel portion. And it's going to go around. And it's going to go not like all Marvels. It's going to go like a Marvel, DC, Star Wars, et cetera. We've got tiebreakers. So that's going to be a lot of fun. We've got the first time ever a free-for-all and the first time all three hosts are hosting. And then we also have the one we put out there right now is if we hit $ 200, we do. Because Mike put this out there. And I think Mike will hit $ 200. That's why I put it pretty low for you.

we will record the geek versus we didn't get to do for GV day. Cause we ran out of time there. We won't do it the day of just because with the people, like we have other like guests coming and whatnot for the gauntlet tournament, which has also been announced, but it's just too tough to balance out when we could do that. We don't know how long that would take.

So that's why we're okay. We'll do it as its own episode. So those are the two things every week on our social media, we're going to be announcing more events and then more unlocks. We've got unlocks. I think there's like eight or nine of them or something like that. So, There's some good stuff, so we very much appreciate it.

The link is down below. We're going to be up for 24 hours. Pop in at any point. If you can donate, legitimately, anything that goes towards it is great. If we don't hit our goal, that's okay. There's been a couple years we haven't, but all the money, it's not like a Kickstarter thing. All the money goes towards the charity. It's not like, oh, we have to hit 1,000.

In the 1,000 and all that stuff, you get some bonus stuff. You get some retros. You get some content. That's what we give you as a favor of that. But... If we don't, that's fine. All money still goes towards kids and families in need, whether it's pre-op or post-op or research. The link has everything of what the money goes towards, and it is tax deductible. So we very appreciate it. And you can go buy shirts. I haven't tried my own yet. Resident Evil. We got two shirts this year. We got the Grand Theft Auto and the Resident Evil themed shirts. Great stuff. Can't wait. So, yeah.

I'm looking very, very forward to the 24-hour stream. I usually do around this time, but I'm just getting forward. We got a lot of great events, and... Yeah, so John M. asks, I'm now curious about the box office positions and when the best period for a sleeper hit was. Yeah, I wonder, right? Like when, hmm. Because obviously like you got like when Obsessions of Backroom came out, that's still in the summer. So it's like you can't even say it's like a sleeper hit. I feel like it would have to be February, right? And I know Mike, we've talked about this a few times with the Batman, but you got Black Panther, you got Deadpool. I feel like there's something else. Was it Fifty Shades in there? So I feel like– and I guess it's not a sleep– like,

you can't say Batman's a sleeper. But I feel like how Black Panther did was– like, people slept on it being that– like, the biggest domestic MCU movie of all time. Like, that sort of stuff. Maybe Spider-Man passed it. I don't know. But still, maybe February. It's not January. December, no, because that's all the families are around. I don't think the fall is that, you know, because– Oh God, we need a goal to your, you watch Jimmy Olsen garage show.

You know what? I'll, we'll put that. I'm not going to put it extremely low, Mike, but I'm not going to put extremely, I'll put it somewhere. I'll put it somewhere on there. We'll, we'll see. I won't put it. I won't put it past the, uh, uh, the thousand mark. Cause I think we only got three goals past the thousand. Cause, uh, you know, cause you know, as much as I, you know, love people donate and whatnot. I think we can all admit that after like there's a certain time where the economy fucked us all up. And you can see where people used to donate in a certain level. And now it's like lower. And that's fine because we all have less money. But there is a year we got like 1,500 pass or goal. That's a lot tougher to do nowadays.

And it's also weird because we have more people that listen and watch now those days. I think it's just like, man, we all grew up. So we got more responsibilities. And the economy fucked a bunch of us all. And that's why great. I live in BC. And great election results, you know? Fuck, man. It's just to get in that for a second. Not a big thing. The person that won in Kelowna riding here, right, for conservatives' first time in, like, decades.

They have a majority government. And, you know, it's like what I said in the States. That's what people want here. They vote for it. We'll see. Do I disagree with the law? Yeah. And I'm reading some of the policies here, right? And one of them is bring the letter grades back for grade four to nine. I don't care what side of the table you're on. And this is where I realize I live in a whole parallel universe, right, where I go, There's stuff that Emily and I, we hear about the schools. We're like, oh, that's weird. Like, we didn't have them, like, our way. But, like, okay, I guess that's how they're doing it now. There's just somebody.

And I know it must have come up because it's on this fucking website. And it's, like, there's somebody or some parent who just, like, their personality is, like, they don't have A or B or C or D on here. When I wrote this how it is, now it's just, like, an overall, like, a satisfaction. Or it's, like, who the fuck, like, what fucking parent cares? Like, who cares if, like, the letter grades have gone away? And that's where it's just, it's wild, right? But yeah, where we live, fucking in our province, only 40% of people vote. That shows in the state, like, not the states, like the state of, like, I don't know, in all of Canada, at least for us, how many people just don't give a shit about any politics now. Whether they're tired of it or feel like, no,

because we talked about it if I speak a couple weeks ago, right? People just, like, not voting anymore because they don't feel like it makes a difference. We have over, of the voting body, over 50% of people just did not vote. Yeah, I don't care. That's fucking nuts to me. It's nuts. I vote. I went out there. It took less than five minutes. I walked in. Here's my writing. Oh, you're at table 52. Cool. Boom. Done. Over 50%. That's nuts, right? So, yeah. So, life's great. So, I definitely understand. But I appreciate everyone that does donate. And if you can't, same thing. Just come watch the video. Hit like on the YouTube stream.

And then also share. That's the biggest thing. Again, I repeat this all the time. Every year, almost every year, we've had someone donate that we had to meet for the first time and we don't know. You know, that's how I met Dave. And that's how I, you know, like there's someone else too. Like there's people that I just met. That's all you're doing this. That's cool. I'm going to support you. Like I very much appreciate what you do. Right. So that's where, even if you can't just like that video and push the algorithm, all our videos, we appreciate it. If you watch on YouTube and you got to count, just hit the thumbs up. It takes a second. It pushes us forward. So. There you go.

So let's talk about this because, you know, I'm going to wait to the very end here because I've got a little bit. I've got about 25 minutes left. So, again, any questions you want to throw in there, you can. But let me pull my letterbox and see what I've been watching. And I won't reiterate anything I haven't talked about already on other shows. And then I'm going to talk about Carrie at the end. So I think in, like, the last 10 minutes I'm going to talk about Carrie because I've had multiple people hit me up about that. And, again, of course, right? Carrie's coming out. And I've watched a lot of Mike Flanagan's stuff with my significant other, Emily.

And I go, okay, Mike Flanagan's doing this, but I don't know if you're really a care person. She goes, yeah, no, not really. You can watch it without me. Okay, I go, cool. And then like a couple days before, hey, I saw Preview for Carrie. I want to watch that. So I go, okay. And because no one else was reviewing that, I go, okay.

We don't watch many things. Not don't watch many things together, but there's tons of stuff where it's okay. So I got to do this for the podcast, X, Y, and Z. Sorry, right? I got to do this. I can't wait for you. Because we just have a life where sometimes it'll link up or we're tired. Like right now, even I was giving her shit on After 9. During The Shining last night, I started to fall asleep. I was dead tired last night.

But Carrie, that's where I surprised people. Of course, people were asking me about it, and I was reviewing it or watching it, but hadn't got around to getting to it. So yeah, so I got a lot of stuff on here that I've not. And hey, if there's anything you've been watching, shout it out. But Ugly Stepsister, we'll start there.

that was a really great time. That is the best example. And this is where it goes back quite a while for me. Uh, that's the best example of all these places when they do like the dark wing of the poo or the dark fairy tale. And it's just like kind of cheap. And I don't mean production. I mean, it feels like the effort they're putting forward just for like, Oh, we got this IP. Let's make a spooky, scary, gross version of it.

Right.

The ugly stepsister is like, that's how it should be done. This is the right way of, Hey, we're going to take a, a fairy tale and do a dark spin on it. Um, very dark, very sexy at times. Uh, Highly recommend it. I know it was like, I think it was two years ago when it came out, that April of Darkness, she recommended it. And it was always on my list. And then it happened to be that I had AMC and Shudder. So I saw it there.

I'm like, hey, I'm going to watch it. I did not know it was a foreign film. So I had to do, I had to work out during it because I need to read the lyrics. And that's what the lyrics, the subtitles, because, and that's why I'm just always so behind on foreign films. Because like, if I watch anything during work, I can't like, I send a lot of emails and read stuff. So I can't do that. And then if I'm at home, I can't do that. And then at nighttime, guitarists. So those always take a little bit longer. But, you know, I digress. We've watched Halloween Towns.

Gives some solid scores that. I heard that they, we talked about this in the Discord. Join the Discord below. That they're making Halloween 5, a.k.a. 4. I, you know, we talked about it in there. But either, unless it's a reboot. If they're not, if they don't bring back the original Marnie actress. You're not getting this guy back.

I ain't clicking on it. No, not a chance, you know? So they better do that. Uh, let's see. I've only watched Carrie one. Uh, so we'll drop out before you talk about, yeah, no, I'll give a warning. Cause I'm going to, I'm going to talk like minor spoilers, John, like, but I will talk about some stuff at the end.

So yeah, it'll be like, I will give a warning in case anyone's not seen it, but it'll be the very backend. So, uh, yeah, it's a great compare, uh, great companion to the substance. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. And it's kind of what I like. substance step sister i kind of wish clay face kind of had those vibes like being a bit more of a bit more of a drama but it didn't uh but john says i'm a positive start it's a positive start i'm intrigued by the aspects that they move away from the 70s version i that's all say like non-sports i think they do a very good job for adapting the time of or the change of time and the change of era for that so yeah look out for that i'll be excited to hear your thoughts there Covenant, we talked about it on

After 9 last night. You can check that out. Camp Masawa or... April's bugging me how much I screwed up. Misama, Teenage Sex and Death. I love that movie. I still only get like a 4 out of 5s. but like because there's some stuff that Mike was saying last night I completely agree with but Jillian Anderson and I thought what a great idea right of like not all the movie but I love the fourth wall kind of elements to it but lots of the movie was about how this character had their sexual awakening while watching a horror movie and they're remaking that horror movie And I think that's great, because as we talked about before, there's so many movies that get away from that now. I understand.

We're in a different time, and X, Y, and Z, maybe because porn's so available. To me, horror and sex and nudity, that still goes, it doesn't have to be in all of it, but that still goes very much together. And I love them using the, almost like a coming-of-age tale, but for that movie. And yeah, that was lots of fun.

I rewatched, fuck, I put, did I say I rewatched it? who knows, and now I'm, now my letterbox is signed me out, that's great, it said that I watched Odyssey, Oddity, it was my re-watch of Oddity, but that's okay, I watched it, I think I dropped it like a little bit, I still really enjoyed it, but, um, I don't think I enjoyed it as much as the first time, but, um, we watched, uh, That and Obsession, me and Emily, because I can't remember, oh, I was, okay, it was on there, I just was watching Oddity, because I just saw it there, I wanted to watch it, um, she found that one more scary than Obsession, she, And I was surprised because I don't think oddity is like that scary. But she was, she found it to be, she was like, I kept

thinking about this and that. So I swear I logged obsession on here too. You never know. Damn letterbox. Oh, that's why. Hang on here. Let's go win rated. Oh, no, I don't know. That's strange. Why is obsession on here? Letterboxd is fucking with me. Because it has me watching Scream 7. When did Scream 7 come out? It has all these movies that I've watched recently that are actually there.

Then it's like Scream 7. Strange. I don't know. I watched... What was this one called again? Oh, hang on. Over Your Dead Body. That's fine. I watched it for some hour weaving. I like Jason Stegall enough. But let's see. You gave me shit and only gave me one star more. Hey, one star more. That's a full, that's a, I guess to me, Mike, when I see, especially cause like, that's why I personally like, and that's why in Geekverse we do the 10 star rating. Cause I think there's more validity there. But in my mind, when I see a three out of five, that's like a six out of 10.

Now you can defend it or talk about it if you don't feel that way. But I think it's like a six out of 10. And to me, I look at it and I'm like, that's way better than a 6 out of 10. You know? To me, a 3.5 is like a 7, 7.5. So that's why I think that. But that's why for me, a 4 out of 5, that's like 8 to 9. Like somewhere in there. But yeah, Over Your Dead Body. I can't remember if I talked about this one. That's Jason Segel and Samara Weaving. They're both taking a trip. They're both planning on killing each other.

They're both married. It's like... It's just not funny. Like, it's one of those words of comedy. I just didn't enjoy myself. I wasn't laughing at it. So I've been watching a bunch of Halloweens. I'm never going to go into depth there because one day we have to do a retro. So I'm not going to give any scores or too many thoughts. But I was just enjoying them.

I got a couple more. I got all the way up to Curse of Michael Meyer, which I did laugh. I will bring this on the retro whenever we do it. Me and him are watching this and the credits are going. It's like introducing Paul Stephen Rudd. There's an era where he was Stephen Rudd, eh? all right, fair enough, so you got that, I re-watched the original Carrie, in preparation of the show, give that like a 4.5, East of Eden, that was really good, I think the last episodes were kind of slow, Faces of Death, that was fine, that's my three, Onslaught, I think I talked about this enough last night, but yeah, I absolutely love Longshot, Onslaught, I understand maybe some people's holds up, but not, like, you know,

Cocktail Clay is one of them, and There's definitely some things that I agree with as far as the negatives. And I think some of the scores are quite lower, but for me, I, uh, I just love the world. It's exactly what I was wanting. It's like, it gave me those Kojima vibes and it's what I wanted. I liked how short it was. I like a Dre in the role. Um, it is very fun. Just like the, the, the Jason, the leather face, just like next. Cool. You know? Yeah. Mike, that's on the list, buddy. I wanted to, and then I, I chose to watch the cycle. Uh, last week I ran out of time. I probably will... Hmm. I might even do that tomorrow. Because I don't think I need to watch anything this week for the pod. So yeah,

I might watch... Yeah, They Will Kill You. Yeah, I'm gonna... I think I've heard more mixed on that one. So I'm... It's on the... It's on the 2026 list. Don't get me wrong. Because I see it's on Craveforest. So it's an easy watch. But it's just something I've been looking very forward to, right? So... Yeah. I think... Yeah, I might be doing Buddy tomorrow. We'll see. Um, but yeah, I'm looking very forward to it. But Onslaught, I highly, if you like some of the stuff I like, um, and generally agree with the reviews or think we're close in numbers, check out Onslaught. I absolutely loved it. Would take more of it. Uh, that's a movie I'll definitely check out a lot in the future. Um, When Evil Lurks.

Another shout out to April for this one. This is one that, uh, she told me about a couple years ago. And it's like an Evil Dead-like, not light, like, um, man really uh really fucked up really good too really like the lore really like the rules really like the vibe i was very happy to learn that they're making a sequel that's one that's older so obviously you know i'm sure people have seen or not seen it but if you haven't it's foreign but still highly recommend it if you like evil dead and even especially if you like the darker evil dead stuff check that out there's some comedy in there but there's some really fucked up stuff so uh yeah i highly recommend when evil lurks is one i wish i saw in the theater so

Check that out. I watched The Silver Bullet. That's a werewolf movie that Steve King wrote. It has Corey Haim and Gary Busey. It's like a fine movie, but it's like a childhood-like favorite. So it was really great revisiting that. Crimson Peak. I don't know why I want to watch Crimson Peak, but it was there and I just put it on. I'm a Crimson Peak defender. I really enjoy that.

Either four or five. I mean, I've seen it. It's a good time. It's a good Guillermo del Toro or a movie. Pumpkinhead 2. I'll see a sequel to Pumpkinhead 1. I very much enjoyed that. That's, as I've said before, the closest they've gone to recreating the vibe of Goosebumps and not being cheesy and feeling like it's grown up.

So definitely check that out. I like that it didn't kind of go back and just make the ending of the first movie non-existent because the first movie had a very dark ending. So I appreciate that. Watched Armory with the Kids one day when everyone was home. That was great. uh, Carrie, Howl Warrior, I talked about last night, Clayface, I talked about enough, Cycle, again, if you're not listening after nine, highly recommend it, that is my, like, hidden gem, horror movie of the year to recommend, is The Cycle, if you know nothing about it, don't look at a plot synopsis, don't watch a trailer, nothing, I hadn't, that wasn't even the plan, I just had heard about it, saw Debra Ann Wolfe was in it, great, check it out, that

is my gem, and then I watched Night of the Reaper, which is a movie that came out this year, I only watch it cause the, I think her name's like Summer Howell or something, um, for Carrie. I was like, oh, let's see what else she's doing in here. She's not in it that much. Um, it's fine. It's fine. Good concept, but, uh, I don't know. Something was just missing there. And I think there was, yeah, the third act just, I don't know.

It's supposed to make you, I think, feel things and big reveals or twists and I just wasn't hooked in it. So, you know, fun ideas, but, uh, All right. If you've not seen Carrie, now is your time to bounce up. I'm going to talk about Carrie for the last five to ten minutes. Then I'm going to get out of here.

I'll be back on Thursday. Again, I'll remind people on Patreon, send me your list for top ten favorite horror movies. Not best, favorite, and I'm going to read those off. Barring there's some massive news. But either way, I'm going to do that list. If I have to do another, as I told you, I will. But yeah, I want to do that. So I want to read your guys' and then I'm also going to rank mine and figure out what my list is. I think I know what one and two is. And then after that, I got no fucking clue. So Carrie. obviously got renewed for season two, which is very cool because it's one of those where how it ends, you go, well, I don't know. Like it would just end that way. No season two would kind of, uh, leave a mark on the series. Um, so, uh, where,

where to go here. And yeah, I'm going to be talking spoilers. So if you've not seen it yet, you can just fully bow out now. Uh, and it's not gonna be a full review, just like top level thoughts. Um, I very much enjoyed it. I thought it was great up until the finale. I did in the Discord tell us a little bit with spoilers tag, so I'm going to probably rehash some things, but enough people have asked me to talk about it that maybe they missed those, right?

Because the Discord's always moving rapid, and I appreciate that. I loved everything as far as I thought they did a great job with the social commentary and the social media aspects of how you're doing that. I've not watched, and I have to, I've never watched the Chloe... Moretz remake I should because I think people said they use social media a little bit there but obviously social media is even more so a threat to people's youth and you know how their livelihood is etc right so I thought they did a great job of that I thought they did a really good job and obviously you have to do this with the series but the girl that played Kristen or Christina right I can't remember what her character's name was I think it's just Christine but they

did a good job of yeah okay Writing and actress-wise, great job of making it that, hey, I fucking hate this girl. She's a piece of shit. She's doing X, Y, and Z. You know, she gets her nose broken in the series. Like, yeah, hell yeah. But they also did a good job of, oh, come on, IMDb. Oh, it's just Chris. It will go with that. they do a good job of trying not to justify what she does, but you can see why she has a broken home.

She feels unloved. She needs attention. She's losing friends. She's just trying to strike out at people and feel something about it. Right. And I thought they did a really good job of showing how someone can spiral down that and even try to stop it, but then be too far gone. Right. So that was really good. I think, uh, Um, obviously the girl like, yeah, well, is it summer? Yeah.

Summer whole. Well, she was great. She was fantastic all round Flanagan and his casting team. If it's the same person, they always do a great job of whether it is young actors or just actors in general, right? Like Samantha Sloan Sloan there. I had never seen her until, uh, I think she was maybe in other projects, but really her big thing in midnight mass. That's an incredible performance.

That is an Emmy-fucking-winning performance. I don't care that she won the Emmy that year. I don't know who else it could have been. So his casting is always on point. And the girl that plays Carrie, and I do think the girl that plays Chris, I think the girl that plays Susan O is very good as well, too. But I think the Allison Thornton and Summer Holwell, I think you're going to see them a lot in the next five years. You never know. We're talking about an afternoon of stars that we thought were going to be big deals and then went away. But Summer Holwell is like, okay, I could see her doing tons of stuff. She was great.

everything you need to do with Kara as far as being charming and kind of innocent, but then kind of funny, kind of mean, etc. And they do a different aspect where it's not, okay, her at the school, and she's homeschooled and has to go to school, so that's why she doesn't know a bunch of stuff, right? They try to shelter her. So that's also another aspect, which I think was good. I think all the changes they were making to either update the story or just to make it a little bit different were working. Even the greater world of the other people with the shine, and you had Kay Sackhoff, with her character, which was fantastic, where she's working with some sort of group that is trying to kill these people. So when Carrie's mother goes to

meet her, one of the best scenes of season one, I'm like, oh, I found you. I'm like, how do you do this? And Kay Sackhoff's explaining everything that goes into this, and then it's like, okay, well, how do you want to do it? And she's like, well, guns, they can be quick. You can poison them. And then she slowly realizes, oh, what this group means in dealing with your child is literally... executing them and murdering them. Right.

And again, Samantha Sloan, it's just like the look on her face, how she sells that. That's fantastic. So I think a lot of that world building stuff, I didn't mind because I know some people be like, I want to watch Carrie, not X-Men. I understand. And I know a lot of people fucking hate stranger things, episode, like whatever in season two, I, me and Kyle were only like one of the people in the world that liked it at the time. And I still mind. I like how they tied all together in the final season. Um, so I understand that aspect, but I was fine with it.

And that too, that made sense to me. for this show to go forward. And if they want to do multiple seasons, that makes sense there. Uh, Superman says Matthew Lillard killer. Yeah, he did. He didn't fantastic. He's, I love like the little Renaissance we have going on here. That's what sucks with born again. He didn't have like a great role. Hopefully manage more. He did. He had a great role. I have a Chuck. Um, I don't want like that first five night of Freddy's was fucking shits.

I don't watch that. Like, I don't not continue with that. Oh, he was great in here. I thought there was one other thing. He was great again. Ooh, He was good for what he had in Scream. I'll give him that. There's one other thing. In Life of Chuck, he's very underrated. He has like one scene, but he's really good. So hopefully get some more chances. But yeah, all the acting were good. And we're mid-center. I love Roku. He's great. Acting, no issues. I think the series was fantastic up until the finale. I think the finale was one of those that almost from the start, I just could feel the points ticking down. I feel like it took too long.

And I've talked about this with April and John. And for me, again, this is not the fact that it is changes. That's why I don't have an issue with it. No, I'm all down for that. I just thought it took a lot of the agency out of Carrie to have her friend. What the hell was her name there? It's like Elaine or something, right? Emmeline? Emmeline? Yeah, Emmeline. To have her just pretty much take control of Carrie and do those things. Now, granted, I know. And that's what John said to me. Oh, Carrie gave control. I get it.

But I like, well, that's where for me, a loss depends on season two, because sure, she gave control, but she gave control probably knowing something bad was going to happen. Right. And the reason to me, um, or no, something like she was never going that far. The reason I say that is because when they get to the part where she flips the car, which I like this moment where Chris and Billy, they're like driving, they're going to run her over. And then Chris moves the handle, right. To show that she wasn't, didn't want Carrie to die. And then when she kills those two and she snaps out of it, she's a fucking wreck. She falls to her knees.

She's bawling like she's so sick to her stomach. That's where to me it's like, oh, she might have thought she was going to like Emmeline was going to help her out. But maybe not this fucking like just massacre. Right. And even just little stuff, too, like her and Emmeline dance in the streets, all this destruction going like it just felt. off it did not work a lot of the pacing did not work a lot of choices didn't work for me and that was the biggest one right and i understood this because i was i didn't say this because she didn't really because she thought the problem they have in the beginning she's like maybe seeing carrie like a little bit but never the full thing and to myself though as we were watching this i was

very curious of what they're gonna do with carrie because it only had set into me when i was watching um the first carrie again before the show i'm like fuck today i'm Because I will agree with most people. That was going around. The original Carrie scene with Brian De Palma, that is still the peak scene. And this one's different because, like, our Carrie's taken over, so she looks blank, right? But I still like it with Chloe because they had all the four. And, you know, I'm not going to go this hard, but it was like, oh, all the misty excitement but the original. And it's like the new one, it's the Chloe Grace Moretz one, and then, like, another one. So I'm not sure they did a TV movie or whatnot. And it's all them looking very like,

you know, as kids would say, like mogging, like very badass and like, I'm going to take you down. But then you have Sissy Spacek, who I think is in fucking incredible in that movie. I don't think she's like an all time great actress or anything. But in that movie, she feels otherworldly in the best way possible. That scene of one when the blood drops and she's freaking the fuck out and she's so embarrassed. The context works different, but it doesn't. I'll get there. But what the fuck?

Hang on one second. Let me see. Uh, no, I'm not doing that. Um, I had a work meeting for Thursday and someone rescheduled. It's like, no, no, no. And even if I wasn't doing this, I got other shit to do during my day job. Sorry. I'm sticking with Thursday. If not Thursday, reschedule it. Um, so for me, where the fuck was my trans? Oh, the way she plays it.

And then when she is closing the doors and killing people, she's so creepy and looks so affected. It doesn't have that here. Right. And that's my problem with the whole scene too, is They have this moment where they do the pig blood, right? Drops on her. And then some kids start to laugh. Now, not some kids, majority of these kids. Now, I would get it because I'm someone with kids. So don't say it to me. Oh, well, no, I understand. But what happens is. Chris makes a social media account, Carrie Red, to make fun of people. It comes out. It affects teachers, students. I'll say 80%, 85% of the school hates this account. They want to know who does it, and they get very behind Carrie. Once she comes out, it's not like the original where they're

always like, you're a fucking freak. It is when she's coming to school, they're like, Carrie. They even say at one point, Chris is like, she has become me. She's taken my crown. I just would not believe with what they did. The, that amount of people would be laughing at her when the pigs bite go. So they do this kind of new version where it's like, okay, it's going to be more of a, uh, she becomes this, you know, just, uh, underclass hero in a sense, right?

And even her mom, she's going social media, doing all this stuff. And, uh, so they become that. And then when the, the, the, they, the blood drops on her, they could do the original ending where everyone's laughing and she feels embarrassed about it. But it, it just doesn't work, so that's where it's like, I would understand her being possessed, that's why she looks that way, but I just think the, how they did this show, and what they did with the characters, and the kids, especially Carrie's the one that talks, and gets the prom to happen, to me, he would have been more like, okay, a couple years later, but then like, okay, who the fuck did that, like, even they make the most, like, Tina, the most toxic, whatever, bully,

then she'd be like, don't fucking do this, like, she texts, like, Chris, like, please, whatever you're going to do, like, they took the most toxic character of the show and made her, like, liking Carrie. I think it would just be a bunch of people running up and being like, hey, who fucking did that? Like, they would fucking maybe kill Billy and Chris in this moment, right? Like, what they, they were trying to almost kill her and hurt Chris's dad in the streets trying to get to their car. It was, it just didn't make sense, totally, and writing-wise. So, everything about that episode I did not really enjoy. I didn't mind that Carrie's mom had the shine because they fucking took her out next episode, right? So,

They skipped the taking Carrie to the prom as a fair suit thing. Yeah, which I didn't mind too, right? Because I didn't, they kind of set up, I felt like with her and what was that guy's name? Who he was, I liked him as like a young actor. He was with Tommy. They kind of set some things up of like, they meet at the party and they're driving to get in the car floats. I thought they're already setting up that he kind of, not even even was romantically liking her, but just liking her. So I was fine with that because you wouldn't have to Again, with what they did, they wouldn't have to have someone take her as like a favor because there's the school's chanting for Carrie. At that point, I guarantee you there.

be other dudes trying to take carrie you know because they're just like that penultimate episode she's a fucking hero to the school right so it's just there's a lot of odd things to it and again i don't even mind the other schools and them trying to get carrie fine I was very happy Emma Lyon was not a imaginary friend because me and Emily picked that up right away.

And I was like, I didn't say that to Emily. I'm like, well, I'm hoping it's one of these girls with powder that's projecting themselves. That's what it was. The Emma Lyon character, I have to wait till season two. A lot of us have to wait till season two. And I do actually think it's a season that could affect this show. At first, right after the finale, I honestly was in the mind, the camp of, I don't know if I need to have another season after that finale.

Because for me, and right where we are going, is with the original Carrie. When I watched that, I'm like, obviously, you know, they make her a school shooter. Now you can say she's justified because they're not justified, but you can see like her, her actions are justified because are in her mind because a bunch of people have been bullying her, her entire school year and just treat her like shit. So fuck you. Right. Which again, you don't want to justify because you don't want people in real life.

That's not what should happen. You got to go for help. And especially, I understand too, people feel like, well, I've got help. whether it's from home or some schools, you know, just like the same thing of like where I am. Talking about election, right? Like, I don't care. People can turn fucking off. In this brochure, like it was for the guy that won, and yeah, he won the fucking thing, so it's great. It was like, oh, and Soji123. And I'm not in the school system. I don't know. And I'm like, what is this? I'm like, I imagine I know what it is because right below it's like, keep politics out of our school. And of course you look it up and all it is, it's just a, it's a something devised in the school for kids that don't,

identify sexually or gender a different way and they get a little more looked upon as far as bullying because yeah if you have a kid or if you are gay or bisexual or trans clearly people get bullied regardless clearly we know those people get bullied more and then it's like oh well I'm gonna end that because it just like causes division it's like and that's what I love when it's like to keep the politics out of our school that's what you're doing like you're bringing the politics into the school that's not a political issue that's a life issue but of course religion you know that's not a fucking issue, right, and somebody's like, oh, well, that's your belief system, so is fucking, like, if you're,

whatever you feel about your sexual identity, that's believing in what you believe in, right, I believe I feel this way, because I look at someone and feel that way, there's my little soapbox there, but, and fuck, where was I going with the, oh, right, but that's the idea, right, and that's where something like that system should help, because it could help these children, right, but then when you get school stuff that get pulled away, you go, okay, you have this kid who's alone, And that's where I thought they're going to have a very tough time in 2026 doing it. And that's why I think the Emmeline thing happened because they didn't really want to do Carrie as a school shooter. Now, don't get me wrong. I

understand what I'm about to say. For a TV show, a fictional world, how they do this here, that is a much more interesting character and a big gray area character. But I think they felt, no, we can't have, we don't want you to follow season two. Like people might not, because with Carrie, the movie ends and it's done. where season two, they want you to actively follow this character.

So I get it. I just didn't love how we got there, you know? Um, so we might, they could have had done much more with Chris's stepsister too. She got as much shit as Carrie. Yeah. I was kind of surprised because I actually thought Chris was going to make it. Um, at first I know all these characters were, but they didn't, um, like Ammerman Thunder is fucking whipped into the fire, but I thought, okay, we're going to keep some of these characters alive because he has a three season arc or whatever. Right. And, No, most of them died, right? Which I understand. She's on the road.

I could see other characters coming in from different Flanagan projects and whatnot, so sure. But yeah, I agree. It just kind of dropped off there, right? So yeah, I just... That finale had a lot of issues. So I think for me, I probably will give season two a shot. I know there's going to be great people at it, and I did like the show overall. It was just a very... And it's like the way that Lantern's where I...

didn't love that finale where there's tons of people I know like hated that finale that was this for me where I was loving Carrie up until that finale it made me not love with it even the mom where I went okay they had the like the religious part but this is quite a big change she cares about Carrie she's not like a zealot so it's like what are we gonna do here and even at midway I'm like I guess they're not gonna do the heel turn where Carrie fucking hates her mom and might want to try and kill her but then they still get there we're the mom and that was a great thing too of showing social media and the power of a message where She starts this message to help Carrie, to provide a light towards her, to expose these bullies, to expose

these people, to go, hey, my kid's being fucked around. Your kids are too. We got to do something. That was great. And then once they win, and even then, she does that thing in the boardroom where she says something like, oh, you can't help yourself. She takes a shot at Chris right before she was going to apologize and then this whole thing, right? So they go that extra step. But even after all this is done, everything that happened is Carrie has got what Carrie needed. wanted was this the maybe and even though then she didn't get in the way she wanted uh exactly she's still on her phone talking to like and we'll stand strong for our kids like the point was just to help me not to become like a whole message right so

and i thought that was done really effortlessly because i thought how do you get to the point of making this mother like us want to hate her because she's doing a really good job and because the character samantha plays in midnight mass is very much just carrie's mom Right. So it's like, how do you as an actor, do you just want to do that exact same thing over again?

So I thought that was perfect. Then I thought in the finale, it left you in a very tough way because not only. OK, so then the mom was over, you know, indulging. But then Carrie's like locking her up. She's moving like she's almost threatening her when the social worker comes to check. It feels like the mom is being threatened to say something. everything good or some bad is going to happen. So I think that's where, for me, they're starting to do that stuff with Carrie and her mom, where they're showing Carrie's being a little overzealous with her powers and maybe, you know, like submitting to be like a bad person. Right. But, uh, so yeah, I think for me, it's like an eight out of 10. I really enjoyed a lot of it. I will, uh, maybe

watching it in the future, but yeah, season two, I think we'll watch it. But at first I honestly, it did kind of unsell me. I want trailer, you know, uh, wishlist for season two, worst case scenario, uh, I guess I just really don't want a bunch of like, I didn't know you were going to do that. Well, you got to become the thing. And like, but I don't want to. And then a few episodes where she pretends to be very evil. Like, I don't want to be this evil. I can't like, I just don't need to go down that road. I know there's like a message you can do there, but I just, uh, I don't know.

I guess, again, I was much more interested in the idea of this is because I think you could have ended carry the same way as the movie in the book. And with the new stuff they add in the show would have felt like a new enough edition of care when, Oh, that was worth it. Right. And people go, oh, why are you doing Carrie again? I trust Flanagan. And for the most stuff in here, I trust him. He did well, you know, the ending, not so much, but with season two, I think that is the worst case scenario. It's just lots of, you can do that in episode maybe two, but I do not need the whole season of Carrie and Emmeline fighting about like who Carrie really is. You know, I don't, I don't need that moral dilemma the whole time.

Right.

Um, and again, it would be different if Carrie did those things. If Emmeline, like Edgar, I'm like, you should kill them. And then boom, did it. And they're like, fuck, like why I, I monster. No, like you, you let someone else drive the car. Like, sure. That's a monstrous thing, but it's, it's just like, it's not the same. It's not the same point. There's a difference between like murder and manslaughter in a way. Right. And I'm not saying he either are good, but. There's a distinct difference, and I just don't need that. But yeah, whatever they're doing at the school, I got, what's her name, Kate Siegel, and then fucking Delaney Hayes. She's from Interview the Vampire.

She plays Claudia, so when I saw her, I'm like, oh, this is great. So yeah, I'm curious what's going to happen. So, oh, where's the regular Flanagan show? So I'll just do the shows, because I think Mike for Exorcist, after I want to do a Treffs, told you ranking his whole projects, because I've never seen Oculus, and I've never seen... I think it's like Ouija, which people said is a decent one for, it was one of those animal creations where the first movie was meh, but he made a decent sequel to it, right?

Midnight Mass is always number one. I said this many times. I super regret that I forgot about that during our top 10 TV show rankings. That's a top 10 TV show for me, 100%. I think that's the, especially too, that's what I love where if people talk to me about religion and how I'm more against religion than faith, that show feels like it's the perfect down the middle of the difference of religion and faith and believing in something versus enforcing something. And that's where it's like, oh, you could have this balance of people that are non-believers versus that are believers and what you could do to circumvent that. And yeah, I just think that that show is, obviously in the horror is perfect too. I think Hamish

Linklater is absolutely incredible the fact he didn't win any of that is just it's like anthony star for the homelander it's like it's a fucking like tv crime but so that that's number one and then midnight man or no um haunting on hill house is number two easily let's see mike flanagan shows let's see let's get them all just so i don't forget any but yeah hill house number two love hill house uh i've been wanting to re-watch that recently and emily were talking about that but uh that's fantastic and Okay, so we got Haunting, Midnight Mass, Bly Manor, Fall of Usher, Carrie, Midnight Club, and The Haunting? What the fuck's The Haunting? Is that a show he show ran? Let's see. Really? The Haunting

is an American television supernatural horror series created by Mike Flanagan. Okay. Okay. Oh, oh, it's just, I, okay, I see. It's just what they called The Haunting of Hill House and Blind. There's another? I see. And yeah, we only have the two seasons, right? So yeah, I would go, let's see here. Let me back out of here. So Midnight Mass easily number one.

Haunting on Hill House number two. Those are easy. Um, I'd say midnight club is last. I really enjoy midnight club. And that to me is like a, a rated R darker kind of like goosebumps. Are you afraid of dark? And that is also perfect. I think it just, it's tough cause it was clearly set up for a season two.

So there's a lot of things unresolved. And I think just even as a season itself just doesn't feel that strong for an ending. So I'll do that there. I'll actually put Bly Manor at three. I know there's not many people that like it. It's a love story, not a ghost story, sort of deal like Crimson Peak. But once you get to the end, it's like, okay, I'm really digging this. I love it. It's much more of an emotional journey. And I do love that it is a love story. And then I'm very torn between House of Usher and Carrie. I think House of Usher is very well made and very good. But I just haven't...

There is certain really good things about it. Maybe I should rewatch that soon. I just... I don't know. It's a tough thing with the House of Usher and the pacing of that. You meet a character, you don't really care about them because they fucking suck, and then they die a terrible way, and you're just like, what is the end goal here? There's not much of a mystery because you know it's a supernatural sort of thing, so I really need to give that another go. So I think for now, I'll put Carrie... in fourth and then house of usher at, uh, fifth there. So yeah, I think I go mass Hill house, Bly carry usher and midnight club. I will need to watch usher again. And I probably, I might soon, cause I, I feel like

it's one where I really need to give it another go and another shake. But yeah, I think just like acting is great. Cinematography is great. Like there's some really great Sean there and some spooky stuff in there. So yeah, it's something that I definitely need to, uh, revisit, but, uh, there you go. That's episode for today. On Thursday, I'll be back with my top ten horror movies and some of yours. Thank you very much for listening live and after the fact. I promise you'll hear from next. It will not be boring. Everybody have a great fucking Halloween week.

Hell yeah.
